I recently bought a set of Nevskaya Palitra Master Class gouache to see how their quality holds up to my Schmincke, M.Graham and Daniel Smith gouaches. They're WORLDS cheaper, but advertised as 'professional grade' (which doesn't necessarily have to mean fuck all) and since I love their White Nights watercolours, I thought I'd give it a shot over the ubiquitous Himi Miya gouache (which is definitely NOT professional grade, it's not lightfast, there is no pigment information and, for me super importantly, getting single refills is a nightmare here in Germany while I can buy the full range of the NP Master Class paints as single tubs).
They, of course, aren't the same quality as my more expensive paints and I didn't expect them to be. I wanted them as practice paints and paints for doing little sketches in my sketchbook and for that, they are MORE than sufficient. They clearly have some fillers in them, but it's not disruptive and it doesn't make them chalky while still maintaining to beautiful, matte surface goauche is so well known for.
They blend well on my usual watercolour paper, go down smooth and even, mix nice and vibrantly even with a few of them having white added to them .... not much to complain about. They even play nice with the wax varnish I like to use (as seen in the first image) without going weird on me...

I painted this color sketch of Overlord by month ago. Аnd there is short story about it.
My special friend presented to me cool complect of marker for artists at my b-day that "to paint Overlord also other transformers". But this complect… Well, it includes many beautiful colors like leaves-green, hot pink and salmon ones, other colors. And there are not blue, not lapis, not dark blue colors! Only cold "blue gray" colour. So… I was tryed. The little sketch of Overlord. What do you think, it is win or lose? Anyway, it is very good present.

Hello! I'm curious what materials do you use in your art?
Usually, I use my copic multiliners and markers on my sketch pad. Although, recently I've been drawing on shikishi boards using a sign pen marker for the lineart. Still using copic markers for coloring :)
(Also tried digital a few times, but it looks different than when I draw on paper, at least for me, and I like the results more when I use traditional. Just a random note.)

Hi there! I was wondering what kind of wire (or other material) you use for creating posable plushies? I have an old pegasus stuffed animal that used to have posable wings, but the wire has been broken over time. I've never used craft wire, so I'm not sure what kind I'd be looking for.
Thank you in advance for any advice 😊
Hi! I actually don't use wire in my plushies. They hold position with gravity, but if you look at many of my photos, they have to be held upright with a dowel or outright held up by my hand. If I let go, they'd flop down into the table or fall over.
I've only used wire for one poseable plush 5 years ago, and for that I used a 12 gauge wire from the hardware store, but it was a very large plush (life-size fox). (He doesn't actually stand very well as he doesn't have a spine, but his legs hold very well.)
You would get more specifics asking an art doll artist, but from what I know is that what wire you need depends on the size of your creature. Thin wire (higher gauge numbers) bend easy but won't be strong enough for holding poses on larger pieces, but really thick wire (low gauge numbers) is strong but really hard to bend on small parts. You might need to test a few gauges and see what works best for your pegasus.
An artdoll artist would be able to tell you more about the wire materials/types and what's recommended for durability, so if any of y'all are reading feel free to chime in!

Hey ! Just discovered your blog, I'm in love with your art 💜
May I ask what you use to line your drawings (looks like coloring pencils ? I'm looking for a waterproof brand), and what pencil do you use for inking ? Thanks a lot !!
hi :) thank you 💖
I use posca pencils to sketch and line before coloring with alcohol markers, they are wax based and hold quite well without smudging. For details, i use either posca pencils (again) or Derwent lightfast pencils (oil based) as they are more tender and pigmented in my opinion, as well as a faber castell fine liner 0.1, and white posca for highlights.
When i ink, i use either a 0.05 Staedtler pigment liner or permanent ink and a very fine nib (i don't remember the brand).
I hope it helps 😊

Four by eight foot studio table I built standing height for my needs, from Baltic Birch ply, clear fir rim & cedar legs. My wife didn't want me to destroy it like previous tables, so I cover the working areas with butcher paper. Here are just a few of the products and tools I use every day.
