The painting: Paul-Albert Bartholomé (French, 1848-1928) • In the Greenhouse • 1881 (the sitter is Bartholomé's wife)

The dress: Sewn from white cotton printed with purple stripes and dots, this summer gown was made by an unknown French seamstress around 1880.

These three paintings and their companion outfits were part of a large exhibition, Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, February, 2013.

Norman Rockwell Museum to Host “What, Me Worry? The Art and Humor of MAD Magazine” Exhibition

The Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA, USA will hold a MAD magazine focused art exhibit this year from June 8 to October 27. The showing will feature original artwork from Harvey Kurtzman, Al Jaffee, Don Martin, Teresa Burns Parkhurst, Tom Richmond, Angelo Torres, and others.

there’s always something interesting to do in london, but as a self-professed homebody leaving the house is usually not high on my list. so in october i challenged myself to get outside at least three times -- even if it meant going out alone.
