VeronaHills, Round Twelve: McGreggor

"Thanks for your patience everyone, just finding the right buttons to push!"

The villagers chuckled in the queue that was nearly out the barn door and Leod exhaled the tension out of his shoulders. The lighthearted lilt of his voice seemed to take the edge off the average market customer's expectation of a speedy till transaction.

It was Leod's idea to swap roles with Jonah for the day: where the younger lad was out harnessing his horticultural skill, Leod was trying his hand at being the people person. He now wondered if he'd underestimated his ability to handle such things. The till was a tricky beast that often spat its drawer into Leod's stomach, but even the Capps in line were showing their pearled teeth in smiles rather than bared grimaces. Poor Jonah had worn the ire of the upper-class when he was fresh-faced in the past, but that Capp in question was now his mother-in-law, and he knew how to let the cloak of curmudgeonly customers (and Capps) slip easily off his shoulders. Maybe the lad could set a new example for those with the name to be proud of dirt under their fingernails instead of hiding it with manicures.

Hermia certainly set a top-to-toe example of being different from her family. Her hair was several different colours and you could see her coming a mile away, and hear her too, with the clump-clump-clump of chunky boots. She clump-clump-clumped around with the clipboard in her role of stocktaking, which was something that her sharp mind took to with ease. The farm was running smoothly with extra capable hands. Leod just hoped it didn't lose its identity when the land was passed to the lad, and therefore the Capps. He'd had a nightmare about a garish billboard being dropped on the farm, declaring it to be PROPERTY OF THE CAPP CORPORATION, INCORPORATED. The cows had run for the hills.

"Can I have my change, please?"

Leod blinked and started scrabbling for coins in the drawer to give to the very polite Virginia Beech. "Of course! Don't know where I went just then, sorry lass."

Extra, good capable hands, reaching in for a team cheer at the top of each market day… Capp caveats aside, it did beat doing it alone.

Capp-Ruth family, Roaring Heights - #13

It rained that afternoon in Roaring Heights, a few hours before their wedding ceremony. For some, a heavy rain is a huge inconvenience, but for Ariel and Johnny, it's a sign of good luck, transition, and a long-lasting marriage.

After the sun set, the ceremony began. They happily (and tearfully) exchanged their vows, rings and declarations of love for one another.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Ruth.

Ariel had a serious talk with Edith to prepare her for what's to come once they leave. She groaned and argued a lot about not being ready for such a responsibility, but ultimately accepted her fate. Ariel couldn't make her promise to be a perfect daughter and be at peace with everyone, but they knew Edith is not a bad person and will do the right thing if needed.

Alice was definitely worried of being left under her older sister's care and kept distancing herself. She just grew to enjoy peace and quiet of her room and figured out if she stays out of Edith's way, things should be fine.

juliette: aunt goneril, i know that you're worried about the future of the capp enterprises with someone like me taking over... and if i were in your position i would also be worried... there is much i don't understand or know about business and economics... but right know i know that grandfather is hospitalized. we don't know how he is doing, if or when he'll be better. all we know is that he is a workaholic, and live for his business. i don't want him to overwork himself and end up at the hospital again...

It's time for Ariel's bachelorette party!

She chose the nearby Roaring Heights Music Hall for the venue, and a few moments into the party, it became "lit".

Sometimes, Riverside Terrace residents couldn't tell if the men inside those trucks were real firefighters and a huge fire would be upon them, or just party dancers.

Among all her girl friends present, Rosaline Young, a private investigator who became her close friend at the Gilded Guard (Rosaline does low-level police work there sometimes), got the honor to give the toast.

The whole party lasted until sunrise. They got kicked out of the venue for the long hours and the mess they made, but they still all had so much fun.
