The Capp Family Ancestors

I never really touched the Veronaville family but I thought it would be fun to redesign them with more period accuracy. Anyway, I'm not too familiar with Shakespeare, history, and peerage, so correct me if I'm mistaken or let me know if you have suggestions!

Firstly we've got Cleopatra and Antony Capp, the founders of the Capp family. I picture Lady Cleopatra as nobility in Veronaville, as Countess of Veronaville and the matriarch of the House of Capp. Her husband was Lord Antony, Count of Veronaville, who was her loyal supporter and managed the territory and its various estates.

Their daughter, Lady Scribonia, was a sickly equestrian and the only heiress to the House of Capp, which was becoming impoverished. She had an arranged marriage with Octavius, Baron of Monte Vista, an ambitious man from a more powerful but lesser ranking family.

Despite taking the Capp name, his family's wealth and influence saved the Capp's legacy when he worked together with his father-in-law, Antony.

The marriage of Octavius and Scribonia produced only one heiress, Lady Contessa Capp. Scribonia died early on, and left her daughter Contessa to be raised by Octavius and her grandparents, but Octavius too would die.

Octavius' father, Lord Julius Caesar, the previous Baron of Monte Vista and a local politician, was not a well-liked man who was assasinated by his enemies. He left behind Lady Calpurnia, the Dowager Baroness of Veronaville, as his widow. She was the one that arranged the union of Octavius and Scribonia.

Though the House of Capp remained strong in Veronaville, they were no longer considered as true ‘nobility’. With the passing of Cleopatra, Contessa would become the matriarch of the family.

She was known as Lady Contessa, Countess of Veronaville, who was brought up by her maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother. In her old age, she reigned on as an influential figure in the founding of Veronaville and the president of the family estate.

One of the reasons I've been silent these past weeks, besides work and personal life. I wanted to complete this before I continue posting my gameplay, for my own documentation and for easier reference. I don't want to just tell you about my Sims' backgrounds and families, I also want to show all of you :D

Random Veronaville Headcanons

I have been Veronapilled so now I have HC's to share with the class :)

-Titania started a tradition within the upper-class society of the Sims world ( besides the Capps think the Goths, Altos, Vanderburgs, Villareals) where for her and Oberon's anniversary she hosts a ball where all other Sims families travel out to Veronaville for a month in the summer and they have small social events throughout the month where they can socialize and set up business deals and their kids can become friends or like date. but on the last night, Tatiana has this huge Ball where all the guests and Tatiana's family dress up in white except Tatiana who wears a colored animal print

-The Monty's own a restaurant that is very successful and Romeo is set to own. Which Romeo very much tries to push on to Mercutio because Romeo likes to cook and all but he does not want to own a restaurant and neither does Mercutio. This is a common fight till one dinner when Antonio is sick of listening to them fight so he tells them the restaurant will be his till they figure it out. Romeo and Mercutio never figure it out.

- Consort constantly calls Kent, Kenny or Kennedy. Because Consort swears that he has 4 daughters. Not because he hates Kent just because he swears that when Kent was born in Roaring Heights he was a girl but when they moved to Veronaville Kent was male(This is based on the fact that when I played the Capps in Roaring Heights baby Capp was female)

-Consort has a very much once it's 9:30 I don't care what goes on in my house because I am in my nice soundproof room. Consort got his and Contessa room sound proofed after her realized he was going to have 4 teenagers at once

-The Capp grandkids take advantage of the fact that Consort doesn't care after 9:30 way more than Consorts kids ever did

-Tybalt and Juliette are the worst offenders. They both sneak out and sneak people in constantly, Even worse there has been times where Tybalt was trying to leave at night and Juliette took his car to do the same

-It's also bad because several time they have both ran into each other sneaking in the Monty Brother and they start fighting about if we are going to the same place don't take both cars and then its weird and all four of then just watch a movie

-Tybalt just doesn't like Romeo. not even in the way of the feud. He just doesn't like him as a person

-Juliette and Romeo get married really young. Like too young, Like they lied about their birthdays and went to Tartosa over the summer and got legally married at 15 before there sophomore year of high school

-Tybalt and Marla Biggs graduated in the same year and are best friends

-Tybalt and Hermia Share a birthday

-Juliette is really only called Juliette by Consort and her Aunts. She prefers to go by Jules.

-Puck lowkey hates Veronaville and moves out to travel and only visits for holidays and his mom's month-long party

My headcanon on the Monty-Capp feud is so intriguing and complicated that if I were to explain it I would need a 37-page PDF documentation with illustrative images.

Was trying to figure out which room belonged to who in the Capp house and I thought the choice of posters in their rooms was interesting

Might be overthinking this but there's a part of me that wonders if they were trying to add in subtle clues to Tybalt and Hermia's characters. Juliette's room is obviously the one with the flowery yellow bedsheet since it's the largest one, and I feel like Hermia's room is the blue floor one considering her neutral stance when it comes to the feud while Tybalt has the one with the computer

Tybalt's described as a very open person in his bio but he is also portrayed as someone who picks fights with everyone and has difficult relationships with both of his sisters, what with Juliette having a negative short-term relationship with him and Hermia's bio wondering "what rock Tybalt crawled out from." It's clear that his relationship with them probably isn't the best, and the whole thing with Romeo isn't helping with that either

It's also important to note that Tybalt is a popularity sim. He wants to make friends, but probably has a hard time because the only other teen who cares about the feud at all is Mercutio, who's on the other side. I was also thinking back to what some other people said about him being the only one out of the three Capp siblings who remembers the fire that killed his parents, so there's a high chance that he could simply just be pretending to be tough as a coping mechanism or smth like that when in reality he's deeply upset about the fact that he can't make any friends and that his family isn't fond of him, hence the poster mentioning being insecure about other people's opinions

As for Hermia's idk, I imagine she probably wants to rebel against her family but still cares enough about them to not want to go all out, else she risks losing them forever. "Leaving your options open" feels like it could mean something for her too but idk what exactly. Could be in terms of love, considering she has two love interests (even if she does lose one of them. It's interesting that they made her crush on Mercutio back when they could easily make his crush one-sided like they did with Darren and Vidcund) or in terms of the future to indicate how she's never cared about the feud and isn't restricted by her family as much as Juliette and Tybalt are

Or I'm overthinking it and the curtains are just red (blue is for the Montys). Who knows

Hi, what kind of father was Caliban like towards Juliette, Hermia and Tybalt, and what kind of husband was he like towards Cordula? (I assume he's 10+ years older than her)

He lacks a bio, personality points, interests and career. We only know his primary aspiration (Fortune) and zodiac sign (Capricorn).

So I'm curious what headcanon you have about him based on his Shakespearean counterpart.

Hi! I added a read more because it got a tad long. Apologies if some things seem vague, as I do want to talk about certain aspects in greater depth eventually.

From what I saw from his kids' memories, I always assumed that Caliban was fairly present in their lives considering he taught them the majority of their toddler skills. I think he was a pretty good dad to them all things considered, but it took a while for him to really come into his own, as he had some demons to battle early on due to the circumstances he found himself in.

When it comes to his relationship with Cordelia, I tend to veer towards them being genuinely in love. For one thing, they tend to have really good chemistry when they're resurrected, so there's definitely an innate attraction between them. Also, of the three sisters, Cordelia is the only one whose husband doesn't share a name with the one her Shakespeare character had (though I headcanon Caliban's middle name as Francisco to make up for it 😄).

I don't really interpret their age difference being that big (I picture Caliban being around two or so years older), but I can see why you or others might. First, Caliban's default hairstyle could imply he's a bit on the older side, what with it giving the illusion of him having a slightly receding hairline. Second, there's Caliban's age when you look at his SimPE data, which states he was a day away from elderhood when he died. As for me, I tend to interpret both of these things as being a result of stress.

One of my headcanons about Caliban is that Contessa really hated him for marrying Cordelia, who I believe was her favorite child and intended heiress. This is, in part, because I don't think Caliban came from the kind of money the Capps did. Instead, I picture his father as having been an old associate of Valentine Monty, only to have a fallout with Patrizio a few years after the feud began, which led him to relocate to the east side and start a new life. So not only did Caliban not come from the old money Contessa would have liked, but he was also descended from ex-Monty sympathizers. As a result of this, he always constantly felt the need to prove himself to Contessa, though deep down he knew it was a fruitless endeavor. In continuing to do so, he ended up aging much quicker than he otherwise would have.

I always viewed Caliban's professional life starting when he interned as a gofer for the Capps back when he was in school, and that eventually worked for them full time after he became an adult. Despite this, he was confined to the lowest possible rung on the corporate ladder due to Contessa's distaste for him. Every time he complained about it, she would always tell him he was lucky he still had a job after "deflowering" her daughter. Luckily, Cordelia made enough money to support their family, so they were able to live a comfortable life regardless of Caliban's lack of advancement.

With these factors in mind, I don't believe Cordelia and Caliban's marriage was arranged in the ways I believe Goneril's or Regan's marriages were. Instead, I'm of the mind that Cordelia married Caliban for love, but that she only managed to do so because of circumstances out of Contessa's control.

These interpretations were, in part, inspired by Cordelia's marriage to the King of France in King Lear. In that play, France proposes to Cordelia despite her not having a dowry to speak of. While I don't think that Cordelia and Caliban's marriage occurred under those exact circumstances, I do think both men falling for each of their Cordelias played a part in why those marriages occurred. As for the Shakespeare interpretations about Caliban in particular, most of those don't have much to do with his love life.

One of my Caliban headcanons that takes inspiration from Shakespeare relates to his height. I think I eventually settled on him being 6'8", which would make him look pretty massive compared to how I view most of the other sims in Veronaville (for reference, he towered over the 5'2" Cordelia, and all three of their children are more than a foot shorter than he was). In fact, Contessa considered him so monstrously tall that she referred to him as a minotaur. The Shakespearean aspects that reflects this comes from Shakespeare's take on Caliban being compared to a variety of animals in appearance. These isn't the Sims really replicated, so I just did my own spin on it instead.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to my simming laptop at the moment, so I don't have a way to check the exact personality I gave Caliban in my photoshoot neighborhood. I don't have many fleshed-out headcanons about Caliban's interests, but I definitely think he was interested in money, but disinterested in work (or at least talking about it with others).
