You seem to have misunderstood my previous comment. What I was trying to explain is that both the creation and use of a model require similar amounts of energy to other complex pieces of software (e.g. videogames).

Many issues you bring up, such as heavy metal pollution, are very real issues, but are the case for the tech industry as a whole, not just AI. Assigning the blame for this to AI does nothing to address the actual issue.

As stated, I prefer to argue one point at a time, but it doesn’t seem like you’re interested in that, so I’ll discuss the point of theft.

I make music. I do so primarily through sampling. Do you consider sampling to be theft? If so, what distinguishes me using a DAW to reuse the works of others from someone using an AI to do so?

The whole "breasts shouldn't be politicized because the primary purpose of breasts is to feed babies!" can be a fine jumping-off point, but I really wish people thought deeper than that when we talk about the ways in which bodies are politicized and restricted.

Like, why's it that when we talk about breasts, they must have some Higher Purpose? It's true that breasts aren't inherently sexual, but they aren't valuable solely because they can potentially feed a baby. A human body doesn't have to serve a Higher Purpose in order for it to not be legislated against or policed, and I just wish people would remember it isn't always about babies, about other people, about anything else other than the people who have that body.
