I always thought that looking inward and doing yoga for myself was the answer but I recently realized that it takes a teacher and others that need your help in order to find what you’re looking for within yourself. You will not find the answers easily. It takes time and effort. Effort working on yourself, effort helping other people by taking what they no longer serves them and giving them what they need to improve on their own. Effort to learn something from anyone, or from everything. . . We all set intentions but keeping those intentions is the hard part. Have you stuck with yours? Have you made new ones over the ones you could not complete? What does effort look like to you? Success is not the key to happiness Happiness is the key to success . . . I quit my corporate job more than 6 months ago and decided to venture off in a path that wasn’t (and still isn’t) really paved yet. During this time, whenever I met up with someone I knew (which were predominantly from my 10 year corporate life) I felt that I needed to account for my “time off”. For whatever reason, I felt like I needed to justify it by listing down what I have achieved in that time. No one was pressuring me to, but I realise I have this habit of putting pressure on myself because I felt a need to prove something to someone. And this pressure (which I created for myself!) then manifests itself in other parts of my life - and the sum of all that is that I end up feeling like a failure. . I can try to trace back when this thought process became a habit. But more importantly, noticing it now, I could try to change that habit. And I am trying. Not always successfully, but that’s part of process... just keep at it, and one day maybe that positive affirmation replaces the negative habit. . So I’m going to stop worrying about how I get perceived externally. I’m going to simply go with my instincts and continue working on the things I love. #pebbletothenextlevel - Day 17 - #ardhabhekasana . This is almost as much of a shoulder stretch as it is a thigh stretch for me. I like to push down on the top of my foot and not my toes. This helps me to stay active in the shin, keep the ankle straight and protect my knee.
