Lena losing her patience and furiously berating Gwen for potentially endangering the staff members of the OAIR is quite literally the opposite of how Elias ran the Archives.
Elias used the Archival staff—as well as his Archivist—as pawns that can be readily replaced as needed. His patron offered them minimal protections at best (the Archivist’s privileges notwithstanding), and even then, he would never actually intervene to save any of them if they were in danger, much less take precautions to protect them at their headquarters. They are used as bait, as sacrifices, as currency, as objects. The listener knows, eventually, how easily he could discard them if his plans called for it.
But Lena. This episode showed us that Lena keeps her entire organization running through keeping her subordinates hidden, safe, and unnoticed by the Externals. It’s quite clear through her conversation with Gwen that such a safety risk has never happened before.
As far as we know, Lena has successfully kept all of her employees alive, watched them come and go, bemoaned the turnover rate, and then got them to look the other way while they documented and dutifully filed the horrors.
But most impressive of all, she’s kept her real work hidden from her subordinates, and her subordinates hidden from her real work—a feat Elias had no interest or desire to accomplish.
#elias enjoyed the cat-and-mouse game of playing with his staff’s knowledge of the fears (or lack thereof)#but them figuring it out was a natural process to him. one that he found very amusing#the magnus protocol#the magnus archives#tmagp#tmagp spoilers#tma#gwendolyn bouchard#lena kelley#elias bouchard#oiar#the archivist#the eye#the magnus protocol spoilers#tmagp 16#anti social#ink5oul#jonathan sims#neo queen serenity’s posts#tmagp meta

The S1 Archives main staff was composed entirely of people who (at least partially) liked men. I choose to believe the OIAR will continue the trend of being equal but opposite to the Archives by having the entire S1 main staff like women.
#it's only fair#now let's try to tag this for visibility without obnoxiously overtagging shall we#tma#tmagp#dyhard#jonmartin#the magnus archives#the magnus protocol#yeah the main tags and main ships are more than enough#also i consider lena the elias here aka not main staff but like. big lesbian vibes from her too#which to be fair that works as a mirror to him

If the Magnus Institute Archive is anything like the Archive I volunteer at, sometimes the archival assistants are genuinely just going to be doing mundane tasks like making four-flap folders and boxes to preserve documents.
There also is definitely a conservation department. There has to be.
With how many documents and objects they have in the Archive and Artefact Storage, they need to be preserved! I’m talking correct humidity, temperatures, correct tools for restoration and cleaning (fun fact: old documents can in fact be cleaned up with a simple rubber, also in some cases the ink itself can cause damage to the parchment if not stored correctly).
And also general rule of thumb is that photographs cannot be handled without gloves. Finger prints cause a chemical breakdown that means over a few decades or so, the place in which a photograph has been handled will degrade, at least, that’s how my supervisor explained it to me.
Another thing the Institute would have to sort is slips for keeping track of which documents have been taken out for researchers and students, and when they’ve been put away!
It’s really fun to think about the inner workings of the institute that we don’t see, because there’s a lot that goes into maintaining these things and documenting them.
I’m genuinely begging Jon to get a better archiving system though. I like to think in S4 he does start re-organising the archive and relabelling things with the Eye’s assistance, just for my sanity.
And I love you Gertrude and I get why you did it, but you are my worst nightmare ever. I would take the apocalypse over an unorganised archive any day. Please.
#TMA#the magnus archives#Yes they’re dealing with the horrors but also they are doing mundane archival tasks too#I will make a head conservator OC I will!!!#also I’m handing the archive staff bone folders I LOVE YOU BONE FOLDERS

All staff,
In recent months there’s been an uptick in absences from work, and while we in the PR department appreciate that sometimes our Institute can be a difficult place to be employed, Elias Bouchard has asked us to lay out the following guidelines:
ACCEPTABLE EXCUSES FOR MISSING WORK
- illness (physical or otherwise)
- travel difficulty
- medical appointments
- family emergencies
- religious holidays
UNACCEPTABLE EXCUSES FOR MISSING WORK
- ‘a freaky friday type of situation’
- ‘gender crisis’
- ‘trapped in a spiral maze’
- ‘met my clone on the tube’
- ‘jon from the archives’
#magposting#staff only#weird thing about the institute. we have unlimited annual leave but nobody ever uses it#a week at christmas and a few in the summer to go to ibiza or whatever#but everyone’s at work the rest of the time#weird. it’s paid time off as well.#tmagpod#the magnus archives#tma#tmagp#the magnus institute#ooc: i know i said two weeks but i missed yall :(((

I see your “Cecil could survive TMA but Jon couldn’t survive Night Vale” posts and I raise you: Carlos (the dad, the myth, the legend) could survive both easily
#some of you guys haven’t read it devours and it shows#he’s not afraid to kill god#he’d breeze through the entirety of the archives in a week and have them organized alphabetically#mans was stuck in the desert otherworld for years do you think he’d hesitate to touch the weird shit#he’d make it out of the vase alive#he’s SMART he’s HOT and he’s A SCIENTIST#AND he’d have the entirety of the archive staff swooning over him by the end of it#not to mention the rest of his science team is also unhinged#I could ramble on for hours abt this#anyways#tmagp#the magnus archives#the magnus protocol#wtnv#welcome to night vale#jonathan sims#jon sims#cecil palmer#cecil gershwin palmer#carlos the scientist#carlos dave robles

I was recently fortunate enough to win an auction for a piece of Wedding Peach merchandise I've been unsuccessfully trying to win online for years (at this point, literally decades) and it got me thinking about how lucky I am to not be starting my collection today.
Prices for all older, more obscure magical girl items have ballooned over the past ten years but Wedding Peach merchandise is definitely one of the worst offenders. It's not uncommon to see single manga volumes going for 10k yen, 20k yen or more for the picture books, and let's not even touch on the amount the toys go for (literally several thousand dollars a pop).

In an ideal world we'd have better access to the series itself at least (the Japanese release of the DVDs and manga, for example, are in high demand due to the manga being out of print for something like 28 years and the DVDs being a relatively limited run from 25 years ago). I understand it's unlikely that we'll be getting more fun toys or merchandise for the series, but it is truly bleak when people can't even access the series itself.
This isn't some lost media type thing, this is just capitalism and it solidifies why I feel a sense of duty to ruin my own collection in order to archive what I have. If my house burns down or washes away in a flood, I truly don't think I can restart my collection and have a fraction of what I have now ever again. It's too expensive and too time-consuming, I simply don't have another 25 years up my sleeve to dig through every possible website to try and find scraps of 90s Ciao magazine issues.

In that sense I feel like I should share what I have with others while I have the opportunity. Even if a teenager today falls for Wedding Peach like I did as a kid, they would need to be extremely wealthy to get these pieces together and I just don't think your ability to own the core of a series should come down to wealth alone.
Goodness knows I'm not wealthy and I had very little growing up, hence my collection took decades to get where it is now. I don't want people to have to endure all that just to see a picture book from 30 years ago or to see an obscure illustration from a Ciao paper bag given away for free in 1994.
The efforts of fans keep series like this alive long after most companies have dismissed their long term profitability (although I do see you Germany with your beautiful hardback manga editions and I thank you).
Not everyone wants to break down their collection for the benefit of others and I respect that (there are some things in my collection I don't want to pull apart either), but I appreciate the efforts of those who do and aspire to do better with my own archiving as I work to get Weddingpeach.net updated to celebrate 30 years of the manga series.
#personal#ramblings#OK was truly rambling there#pics are previews of some upcoming 1200 dpi scans#but archiving itself isn't just media files#it's sharing factual information like release dates and staff names#that can get pushed down in AI search results or largely ignored unless preserved#it's sharing your enjoyment of a series with others and what files you have#it's above all retaining passion for something long after profitability and general interest has waned#anime collecting#archiving and media preservation

something i've always loved about tma is its massive potential for someone to get attached to literally any random character and get something substantial out of it. tma fans reblog and tag with your favorite one-off/statement characters! i like seeing peoples' obscure faves and love for characters others forget exist.
graham folger's an easy pull for me but i do like him a lot, i think about all the not!them victims in general a good amount. if i had to pick someone else it would be justin gough!
#babbles#the magnus archives#tma podcast#magpod#the more obscure the better i want to see people lovingly insane over characters i forgot existed#i remember wanting to write something about justin gough#very obvious pull for me if you know tropes i'm drawn to but#iv always imagined after he got lobotomized though he still had the end powers he no longer understood the purpose of them#no idea whats going on in there or why the nice staff who take care of him disappear or why some part of hims relieved when they do#still paying off his debt to the end but no longer comprehending the payment just knowing that putting things in hands has a result#on that topic the statement giver from cost of living lives in my head rentfree i think that wins most uncomfortable statement to listen to#heavyhanded in the shows themes in the best most agonizing way possible#OH OH I ALSO LIKE DANIEL RAWLINGS

Ritual Reminiscence: Birmingham 2023
On January 17 2023, Sleep Token continued touring but this day started their headline tour in the UK. Today is also the first day that the pauldron first made it's appearance on stage, alongside the iconic staff that was used in this tour and then only seen on merchandise after.
On this night, The Summoning, Aqua Regia, and Granite were performed live for the first time.
O2 Academy, Birmingham, England January 17 2023
Sacred moments in time, captured in Birmingham by Adamrosssi. Tonight, Glasgow shall gather in Worship.

is anyone else having issues uploading videos to tumblr? I can’t seem to upload anything over 100MB even though it says 500MB is the limit, and I know it compresses it down after which is ok and all but when I had to make the video fit under 100MB myself and upload it to drafts it looks HORRIBLE. either there is some storage issue going on with tumblr right now that they aren’t being transparent about or just staff not upkeeping their site as well which is probably the case. if this is how it’s gonna be for some time I’ll be forced to post shorter clips for now just as I was combing through my past PS2 streams to post highlights from. I’ll put whatever up as a youtube video if I need to.
#i know twitch started capping limits @ everyone's archive so hopefully this isn't starting a trend on other sites#and w/e bs is going on with the tariff situation @ tech / storage#i noticed other weird things going on with tumblr but this is the most infuriating thing so far to me#text#staff
