Phase-I Clone Trooper Armor
Although the Phase-II Clone Trooper Armor always got a lot of love…The Phase-I Clone Trooper Armor was always the best design to me due to the Phase-I Armor's likeness to Jango Fett's Mandalorian Armor.
From the Phase-I Clone Trooper Armor. To the Phase-I Clone Commando Katarn-Class Armor. And especially the Phase-I ARC Trooper Armor with its numerous Mandalorian influences (Helmet mounted Rangefinder, Kama, Jetpacks, Wrist Rockets, etc.)
Phase-I Armor for the Win...!

Offtopic Offseason #4 - Clone Wars Rewatch Thoughts: Part II.
So, the Clone Wars rewatch.
I'm about halfway through season five now and God the show got an amazing glow-up in the later seasons.
The timeskip in the middle of season three is a big one but I didn't realize that it was actually somewhat staggered - Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka get their redesigns in S3E10, but the Clone Troopers don't go to the Phase II armor until season four. We also don't really see many clones in the Mon Calamari episodes or on Naboo, so the Phase II armor doesn't really get focus until the Umbara arc.
From that point onwards season four is amazing. Season four is my favorite of the original run and overall, it's up there with season seven - and that's high praise considering the Siege of Mandalore arc in the series finale is some of my favorite Star Wars content period, not just in Clone Wars, but in general.
It's got Maul, it's got Mandalore, it's got Ahsoka, and it ties directly into Revenge of the Sith. What more could you want?
In fact, just before writing this I saw a clip on twitter of the moment Rex gets Order 66 and the RotS music kicks in and it's just...chef's kiss.
The animation is beautiful, the characters are fully fleshed out and realized at this point, and we get to experience the high drama of Revenge of the Sith from their perspective. It's wonderful.
Tying into Revenge of the Sith, there's also the main thing I wanted to talk about today: the Clone Wars saves Anakin's character.
Already from Attack of the Clones we see a dark, brooding Anakin that's chaffing against Obi-Wan's teachings, that can't control himself around Padme, and the darkness in him is obvious. Sure, the Jedi didn't know exactly what Anakin did to the Tusken Raiders, but we literally see Yoda and Mace Windu feeling the ripples in the Force and instantly knowing it was Anakin.
Then, after that, Anakin tries to derail the hunt for Dooku on Geonosis because of Padme, and Obi-Wan has to literally scream at him to keep him on mission. Obi-Wan literally yells "You'll be expelled from the Jedi Order!" but then we never see the Jedi follow up on this. Sure, Episode III implies that Obi-Wan knew about it and kept quiet, but we never really see a justification as to why.
Episode III tries to make up for this by showing some friendly banter between Obi-Wan and Anakin, particularly while they're rescuing the Chancellor, but it doesn't really land - especially not since we see Anakin get angry at the Council to their faces after the whole master thing. Not to mention his connections to Palpatine, him killing Dooku, and the fact that he's clearly troubled during his meditations with Yoda.
In short, the Anakin we see in the movies is clearly troubled, clearly going down a dark path, and nobody seems to give a shit about it. They just let this problem keep steamrolling until it's at the Jedi Temple committing Order 66.
Now, this is not a ridicule against Hayden Christensen, because he's doing what he's told to do. In fact, I'd say that Hayden Christensen plays Anakin's dark moments better than Matt Lanter does in Clone Wars.
What Matt Lanter does, however, is show Anakin's redeeming characteristics.
Clone Wars has the time to go out and show that Anakin has a charming side, a funny side, that he cares about his friends, and that he's an immense asset for the Republic war effort. We see enough moments between Anakin and Obi-Wan that it becomes clear why his master would give him the benefit of the doubt, and there are even a few reasons why Yoda and Mace Windu would give him a bit of a leash.
And, as many people have pointed out before, the whole drama with how Ahsoka left the Jedi Order just as she was about to become a Knight means that Anakin did fully train a Padawan. He did all the work to be considered a Master, but because of the Council's actions during the Sabotage arc, he's screwed out of the rank. This means it is an outrage, it is unfair.
Anakin's not being a petulant child, he's getting cheated out of a rank because the Council doesn't trust him.
There's also the fact that a lot of Anakin's dark moments in Clone Wars, particularly early on, are because he's trying to save his friends. He Force Chokes Poggle the Lesser to save Ahsoka from the brain worms, he strikes first and brands himself a cold-blooded killer because Tal Merrik is threatening to blow up the ship, and in the Mortis arc, Anakin turns to the Dark Side now in a misguided attempt to stop the greater evil of him becoming Darth Vader.
The show establishes early on with the Lair of Grievous episode that the war is driving the Jedi closer and closer to the Dark Side, and that includes Anakin. The war gives him convenient excuses for going for the dark option over and over again.
Then we get the Zygerrian slavers arc and the Obi-Wan undercover arc back to back.
We see Obi-Wan and Ahsoka get uncomfortable with Anakin's actions during the slavers arc, but he's given the benefit of the doubt because one: Obi-Wan knows his freudian excuse, and two: the slavers are objectively terrible.
Then just after Anakin gets dragged through that stressful situation, he's thrown into another one as the Council fakes Obi-Wan's death and sends him undercover, all without telling Anakin. When he does find out, Obi-Wan fails to address Anakin's real concerns. This sets up for Episode III perfectly because it erodes Anakin's trust in the Council, makes Obi-Wan part of that mistrust, and drives Anakin closer to Palpatine.
Palpatine, who is clearly taking an interest in Anakin's duel with Count Dooku.
Stuff like this gives Anakin a slower, more believable fall to the Dark Side.
Now consider the fact that the Clovis episodes of season six were originally meant to be early in season five before getting temporarily canned. This means that not long after Zygerria and the undercover plot, we'd get an arc focusing on Anakin's increasingly toxic and possessive side with Padme.
Hitting the dark notes one by one...and then the Sabotage arc serves to take Anakin's Padawan away.
He's losing his trust in Obi-Wan, he doesn't trust the Council at all after they were ready to blame the bombing on Ahsoka, and his relationship with Padme is taking an unhealthy turn - and on top of all that, Anakin just lost a positive influence in his life. Ahsoka isn't there to keep him responsible and to provide a check on his actions.
Anakin's alone, but Palpatine's there, whispering the Dark Side into his ears.
Then, as we go into the events of Episode III, a returning Ahsoka is sent to Mandalore to fight Maul along with Rex, while Obi-Wan is sent to Utapau to finish off Grievous. Once again, Anakin's positive influences are kept away while Anakin is stuck on Coruscant. The Council wants him to spy on Palpatine, he doesn't want to, and he immediately blows the scheme to Palpatine.
That's when Palpatine makes his move.
Anakin pushes away for a moment and goes to Mace, but Mace tells him to stay at the temple.
Anakin can't, he goes there, and he cuts Windu's arm off - the point of no return.
Clone Wars is there to recontextualize Anakin's actions, flesh them out a bit more, and make his fall to the Dark Side more believable. That's the biggest service it does to any character in the franchise, and it makes Star Wars as a whole stronger.
So yeah, the show is good.
I think I covered most of the stuff that happens later on in the show in this one, but I'm still watching so maybe I'll do a part three next week if something stands out. That being said, the Rolex 24 is this weekend and that means the offseason is coming to an end, so perhaps it's about time for this blog to get motorsport-y again. We'll have to see though.
All I can promise is that next week, I'll write about whatever's on my mind. If that's Clone Wars, then it's Clone Wars, if it's race cars, then it's race cars, if it's some other third thing, then it's some other third thing.
So...tune in next week to find out!

Sims 4: Echo's Armor S1
Tumblr media
Domino, former ARC Trooper, war hero, more-machine-than-man, down-to-earth grumpy survivor, bad pun master, rebel clone and Mom to the Batch. Is there an Echo here?
Did you notice how they photo-shopped the official show poster with Echo:
Tumblr media
Clearly there are some limits to bending this arm construction, which might not look great in promotional merch. Anyway, I found a way to animate it without adding any bones (which I can't do yet), and while it's not perfect, it looks good at most angles. I will be creating a separate arm accessory together with robolegs next.
bloopers!

Other cc (not mine): - face overlay by @nesurii - chiseled face contour by @golyhawhaw - portrait pose pack by @samsstudio - clone phase 1 helmet by Kynd
Echo sim based on ArthurKirky's TBB Batcher available in my in-game gallery (just search for "Batcher" with pet filter).
Set is base game compatible. Custom icons. Armor found under jumpsuits, for helmet check brimless hats. Batuu enabled.
Please leave me a like, it doesn't cost anything! Thanks!

Hi! I am curious about the decision-making process for your Bad Batch armor! It seems like it incorporates elements from each phase of your service. Was there ever a point where you considered wearing the ARC double pauldrons?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One good thing about having a body unlike anyone else's—no one can relate, so no one gets on your case for wearing what you want.
I've always preferred the cropped chestplate. The plackart might seem like it protects less, but it takes almost as much of a beating as the plastoid, and the added range of motion makes it worth the tradeoff. Kama take a hell of a lot of heat, and despite what Crosshair thinks, they look badass. As far as helmets, the later versions have much better filtration and the HUD interface is a lot less clumsy.
The double pauldrons were left behind after Skako Minor. It's not that I couldn't put them back on, I didn't want to. They didn't feel like me anymore. I was an ARC of the 501st, and while I will always be an ARC trooper, I don't need special armor pieces to signify how well-trained I am to the Batch. They know what I can do, and I know my worth.

I got myself some Clone Trooper miniatures
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyone got suggestion or oc I can attempt to paint on to a minture?
I can't make Hevy because this is phase II armor and I can't make Thorn with a Z-6 Rotary Blaster because of that massive backpack. No switching parts don't work, sadly, I've already tried.
Can't make Commander Fox or Cody because of the Arc Shoulder piece, I might attempt to switch parts.
No Arc Troopers because that's a different set. So no Fives or Echo
Dogma is so probably the only one I can feasibly make.
So I'm taking suggestions.
They are small small, so nothing too detailed.

४ (4)
The next time you see him, he’s gearing up to go to the Citadel. For the past year or so, you have been accompanying the 501st on their missions, mostly due to Anakin’s confidence in your abilities and wanting to make sure you’re the head engineer on the ship.
(You suspect there’s something more to it than that because of the knowing looks he shares with Ahsoka and Rex every time you enter the room, but you brush it off. You get to stay with your friends, and that’s what really matters anyway).
It’s certainly been a difficult journey. A few months into your friendship, Fives and Echo sullenly confided in you what happened to the rest of the members of their squadron, and later to 99. Since then, they became some of your closest friends, ones you knew you could trust and rely on.
You were on Kamino when it was attacked, but you were relatively safe. All nat-born staff were guarded with the cadets, meaning you didn’t see most of the action, only felt the rumbles and heard the shouts. It was only after you emerged from the safe haven and wandered the facility did you find your friends. They excitedly told you how they had just been promoted as ARC troopers and you swear you have never seen their faces brighter. It was a crazy day for us all.
You’re alone with Echo and Fives in the barracks they share with some of the other clones, sitting on the bed as you watch them pull on their plastoid armor, checking and rechecking everything.
“Wait," you say, holding a hand up to stop them while the other one rustles through your bag quickly. You produce two small devices and hand one to each of them.
“I’ve been saving these for the right moment.”
"What is it?" Fives asks, holding the little prototype up to the light to inspect it.
"It's a commlink recording device that doubles as an armor enhancer. Basically, it creates an invisible shield covering that fits the shape of your armor and it can lessen the impact of blaster shots by taking the kinetic energy and dissipating it into the ground,” you say proudly, taking it back from them. The duo stare at you, dumbfounded. With a start, you realize that this is probably the first time you’ve rendered them both speechless.
“Wha–how did you know there was a space underneath our armor? I didn’t even know it was there” Echo inquires as he watches you snake a hand beneath Fives’ backplate to place the device in a small magnetic niche.
“I designed it,” you smile smugly, shooting him a hazy smirk before walking over to him to repeat the action. He’s warm–you can feel the heat emanating even through his blacks. Your cheeks flame at the feeling.
You step back, admiring your handiwork as Fives asks, “When? We’ve had our ARC trooper armor for a long time.”
You give him a confident nod. “Remember that attack on Kamino?” A nod. “Well after you told me about your promotion, I submitted a request to work on the new phases of clone armor for the ARC troopers. Once I was granted access, I specially engineered two customized prototypes and long story short, I was able to get them to you without either of you knowing,” you laugh at the utter shock on their faces.
“So that’s why I didn’t have to paint on the blue hand stain!” Echo exclaims and Fives punches his arm.
“That’s what you’re thinking about?” he questions incredulously and Echo splutters, indignant.
“Well how was I supposed to know? I figured with new armor, I’d have to paint it on, but then it came with the stain, so I thought ‘oh, they must have just used my old armor,” Echo defends himself, pushing Fives back. The latter is about to answer, but you cut in.
“Hate to cut this lovely entertainment short–” you look at both of them pointedly. “–but there are a few more things you need to know.” They both immediately shut their mouths and turn to you, waiting to hear what you have to say.
“This device is only a prototype. I’ve been working on it for a while, but I never got the chance to test it. Theoretically, it should work, but this is the first time it’s being used so you have to be careful. I don’t know if it will malfunction or fall off or break or zap you or kill you or–” you start rambling off the possibilities, getting lost in your fears of your craftsmanship.
“Okay okay okay,” Echo halts you in the middle of your raging mind, placing his hands on your shoulders. Your heart jumps at the contact and it takes all of your focus to not melt into the ground right then and there.
“I’m sure it’s going to be absolutely fine. You’re the best engineer we know, there’s no way it won’t work,” he reassures. Fives pipes up.
“I’m with Echo here. We know you put a lot of work into it and you want to keep us safe, which means it will work. You can’t get rid of us that easily,” Five grins and you can’t help but roll your eyes at the statement.
“How unfortunate. Here I was, hoping I could get away from you once and for all,” you mock teasingly, the three of you erupting into soft laughter. As they continue pulling on the plastoid, you mention a few more things.
“I was able to work in an encrypted frequency and recorder. So if you’re ever stranded or alone, you can just reach back and tap it, and it should start recording. Whenever there’s a signal, the message will relay straight back to my personal commlink and I can get you help if you need it.”
“Stars Astro, have we ever told you how amazing you are?”
“Hm, once or twice,” you smile before adding on. “There is something else though. This technology is experimental–you have to make sure it never gets into Separatist hands.”
They nod solemnly, determination coloring their handsome features.
“It also has its limits. I haven’t quite figured out yet how to make it withstand blasts and explosions, and I didn’t want to send you in with a half-assed, malfunctioning tech, so I just removed that part entirely. I’m sure you both will be perfectly fine considering everything that you’ve been through,” you say assertively, crossing your arms over your chest as they pull on the last of their armor and grab their helmets.
You smile sadly. “Come back to me, yeah?” you say softly, glancing up at them.
Fives moves in first, pulling you into a bone-crushing hug as he whispers into your neck. “You can count on us.”
He lets go of you then and Echo moves in. His hug is softer, gentler, but you can feel your tender and fragile heart breaking anyway as he does so. Echo doesn’t need words–his subdued actions speak for him.
You accompany them out of the barracks and watch them board the shuttle. They wave to you and you wave back and then they’re gone. Please come back to me.
Little did you know that it would be the last time you ever saw the both of them together again.

This is honestly so fun and unique. What a cute costume 🥰 I know I would want to wear a full set of Phase 1 or 2 ARC Trooper armor as a wedding dress and dual DC-17 blasters as the bouquet, AND also get to hold it like Captain Rex does as I walk the aisle 🥰🥰🥰

Fanart for Love in the Time of the Clone Wars 🧡
This fic, and the others in the same series, are part of my favorites. If you enjoyed the Republic Commando novels you should totally check them out!
This drawing is for chapter 7, Maze deserves all the cookies for being a good brother and Dub needs a hug.
Initial sketch and references under the cut.
Tumblr media
This is the initial rough sketch of what I had in mind, I think I drew it last year. When I felt motivated to continue the drawing, I decided it would be best to use my drawing mannequins for the poses (and trace over the photos because it's easier and I'm lazy). I also decided to flip the positions because Dub's prosthetic left foot should be visible.
Tumblr media
I positioned Maze's arms approximately at first but when came the moment to draw the pauldron I realized they were too far apart. I ended up crafting a mini paper pauldron and reposing a mannequin to get a new ref. x)

something I realized about Echo’s infamous handprint:
Tumblr media
this is probably the original armor that he was in at Rishi outpost, where Rex gave it to him in the first place. He probably updated the rest of his armor to be fit in with the 501st while still adding his own flare to it (like those groovy lil lines on his helmet), but I’m betting that he probably just painted his og shiny armor.
Tumblr media
but then here he’s in his Newly Promoted Fancy Phase Two Arc Trooper armor. He has the extra grey plate on top of his main chest plate, like Fives does. And the handprint is on it. So this begs the question: during his painting, did he dip his hand in paint and recreate Rex’s symbol because he got attached to it and people knew to differentiate him because of it? Did he ask Fives to do it? Did he go up to Rex in his brand spanking new Arc Trooper armor with a bucket of blue paint in hand like “sir would you please uh. do the thing” and did Rex just do it because heh yeah it’s Echo of course he can keep his handprint and did that make Rex get even more attached to this wide eyed shiny I NEED TO KNOW THESE THINGS

Based on an older post, I try to keep track of Echos clothes and armors and I'm very curious what is coming in season two of TBB but I start with TWC and season One of TBB.
The clone wars (every episode new outfit)
Cadet uniform
Cadet armor
Shiny Armor
501st armor
ARC trooper armor (phase 1)
After the citadel
How they rescued him (don't know how to call that)
501st modified armor
The Bad Batch (S1)
Bad batch Armor
Droid disguise
I try to keep this up to date and I'm curious what else he will wear in the coming seasons (because I always want to honor my fav characters with a cosplay but Echo has so many choices and it becoming more)
The Bad Batch (S2)
Alternative Version of bad batch armor (to get under the radar of the empire)
Civilian like, armorless clothes
New pants and no kama
And we will see what else is coming in S(3)

Hello! Um, how about Wrecker with a s/o who has severe childhood trauma, and has a hard time opening up to people other than him?
Hello! First off, thank you so much for this request! It was a good challenge. Secondly, I am so sorry this took as long as it has. I had a pretty uneventful childhood, so I ended up doing a lot of research to write this right, and then I rewrote it about a dozen times... anyway, trauma is only minimally mentioned (at least directly), but I hope you like it!
Wrecker + Traumatized Reader
How did it go today, cyare?" Wrecker asked, dropping a kiss on your cheek. He had just gotten home from a shorter mission with his squad and began stripping off his armor while he waited for your answer.
You always felt silly complaining to him. The things that troopers saw and had to deal with on a daily basis were so much worse than you saw - especially since you were permanently stationed on Coruscant. Still, from the expectant look he sent over his shoulder, Wrecker was waiting for an answer.
"Well…" you started slowly, not sure how much information he wanted, "I think it went okay? The board seemed to like the presentation. The Head Commander said the lack of internal life support in the Phase II armor is an issue they've been looking at for some time. I’m supposed to work on a follow-up. I might throw together some preliminary schematics for a Phase III armor set…"
“Sounds like it went great!” Wrecker encouraged, interrupting you before you could get too lost in your engineering thoughts. You had been known not to emerge for days once you got started. “You've been practicing this presentation forever."
You grinned at him. "Thanks again for being my test audience. I know it isn't something you're really interested in. You guys don’t even wear the Phase II."
"No, but I like listening to you talk," Wrecker told you unabashedly.
You shook your head a bit at that. "You're such a sweetheart. How did I get so lucky?"
"There's a group of Seppies in the Guard's cells who didn't think I was sweet at all," he told you, sounding mystified. "If it wasn't for Cross, I wouldn't have gotten outta there at all."
You tensed a bit at that, and not only from the reminder of how dangerous his job could be. You knew what was coming. It was only a matter of time…
"Have you thought any more about it?" Kriff. There it was. You wanted to snap at him, remind him that he was pushing a very firm boundary, but Wrecker sounded so hopeful…
"I- I just don't know, Wreck," you admitted miserably. "I know they're your brothers and I want to meet them, but… it's a lot."
"That's okay," Wrecker said comfortingly. He was doing his best to reassure you, but you could hear the clear note of disappointment in his voice.
Your heart plummeted to your toes. Why couldn't you do this for him? Wrecker was the best, most considerate boyfriend in the galaxy. He was willing to sacrifice himself for the safety of the galaxy, for your safety.
"Okay, let's do it," you agreed abruptly. "When do you want to have me meet them?"
"Really?" Wrecker asked, a smile like dawn warming his face.
You nodded and forced an answering smile. You weren't sure how you would handle the pressure of meeting the other members of the Bad Batch, but for Wrecker? You would figure it out.
He ran off to contact the others and your smile faded instantly. From everything Wrecker had told you, Tech was nice and Hunter was quiet, but Crosshair was rarely anything other than abrasive and rude. And that was to his brothers.
You fought a shudder. Being snipped at always reminded you of growing up - and not in a good way. Sarcastic comments were always the first step, then objective-sounding remarks, and then… You didn’t want to think about what had always come next.
But still, this was important to Wrecker, and you were determined to try.
---
The next day, you were anxiously fiddling with your sleeve as you walked to the GAR with Wrecker beside you. The height difference between you always made you feel like a child being escorted around by an adult, but Wrecker normally took your teasing complaints as the jokes that they were.
You weren’t saying anything at all that day.
“Hey,” Wrecker said gently, grabbing your hand and stilling the fingers that were slowly unraveling your sleeve. “Are you okay?”
You blinked up at him. “What if they don’t like me?”
Wrecker made a strangled sound, like he had started to laugh but thought better of it. “Of course they’re going to like you! Why wouldn’t they like you? And even if they hated you, I like you. And I’m the important one here.”
You wanted to laugh at his exaggerated pout, but the corners of your mouth felt like they were attached to weights as you gave a tight nod and refocused on walking. Wrecker, however, wasn’t having it. Using the light grip he still had on your hands, he tugged you to a stop, forcing the rest of the foot traffic to part around his broad figure as he bent to talk to you.
“Say the word, cyare, and we’ll go home right now.”
“What? No!” you denied immediately. “I said I would meet your brothers, and I meant it. Why? Have you decided you don’t want them to meet me?”
“Of course I want you to meet them!” Wrecker told you. He brushed a hand against your face, smoothing the frown line you could feel forming between your eyebrows. “But I don’t like seeing you this way. If it’s too much, we don’t have to do this. I meant what I said: we can go home right now.”
You searched his face and found only heartwarming sincerity. He meant it. If you said you weren't up for this, he wouldn't be upset or hurt. He wouldn't sulk or find ways to punish you. Nothing would change between you.
"I wouldn't miss it for anything," you assured him.
Wrecker was your safe space - the exact opposite of everything you had dealt with growing up. He pushed your boundaries, but he made you stronger. As you tripped through the crowd by his side, the idea soothed you more and more until you couldn't stand it.
"Wrecker, wait," you pled, pulling on his arm.
It was a surprise he had even felt the pull, honestly, but he was so attuned to you that he stopped immediately. He looked down at you with open concern. "What is it? What's wrong?"
"I love you," you blurted, and your face grew hot so quickly that you felt a little dizzy.
"You love me?" Wrecker asked, sounding stunned.
"…yeah…" you said slowly. You weren't really sure why you had needed to say it right that moment, but you knew that you meant it. Wrecker was everything to you, and it had been enough to prompt an admission of feelings that you had never thought you would be able to verbalize.
He was still staring at you and you were getting nervous. "Anyway, we should probably get to the GAR," you told him, striving for a casual tone.
"Forget the GAR! You love me!" The next thing you knew, Wrecker had lifted you up and spun in a quick circle that left you dizzy for sure this time. "I love you, too! We need to go celebrate!"
He set you down and had started down the street in the direction you had come from, dragging you along by your hand as you alternated between laughing and trying to get him to stop.
"Wreck, we can't just not show up to meet your brothers," you protested. "They're waiting for us!"
Wrecker paused, glanced back at you, and heaved a deep sigh. "Fine," he grumbled, walking back toward your original destination. "They get twenty minutes, then I need you all to myself."
The dark-eyed look he sent your way made your mouth go dry. "Fifteen minutes."
He laid a searing kiss on your lips. "Deal."
---
To your shock, the Bad Batch was less intimidating than you had thought they would be. Hunter even made an effort to talk to you.
“So, what is it you do for the GAR?” he asked, dark eyes startling in his half-tattooed face.
“I- uh, I’m an engineer,” you explained. “I helped design the updates implemented in the Phase II trooper armor. Joint Kamino-Coruscant effort and all of that. I didn’t have anything to do with commando armor, though.”
Hunter shrugged. “Still, I’ve heard good things about the Phase II. You did nice work.”
“Thanks!” you said, only slightly too loud. “There are a few things that got lost in translation due to budgetary issues. One of my ideas was to add in a new scope for the larger rifles, one that would acclimate to counter visual disruptions. Brightness, direct sunlight, reflections, and so on. It had a couple other features that were popular with the ARCs and commandos who tested it. Alpha-17 on Kamino said he was keeping his, even though it was just a prototype.”
“Wish I coulda seen that,” Crosshair muttered, his first contribution to the conversation.
“You kind of can,” you offered. “I have a few prototypes left. I brought one along in case you wanted to give me any feedback. I still have hopes for the Phase III…”
Crosshair eyed the scope you were holding out to him, face full of suspicion even as he accepted it from you. He examined it closely for several minutes, dialing in and out of various features as you watched. Eventually, he nodded and you breathed a sigh of relief.
“Looks good,” he reluctantly praised, handing the scope back.
You didn’t take it from him. “Actually, that’s a tactical prototype. If you were interested, I would love for you to use it in the field as long as you let me know how it holds up.”
Crosshair’s eyebrows shot up and he chewed his toothpick thoughtfully as he stared at the scope. You weren’t above a little bribery, and had made a few tweaks based on Crosshair’s preferences. Granted, those preferences had been relayed by Wrecker, a man whose go-to weapon was bare hands…
To distract yourself, you looked to Tech. He had been quiet, almost silent, for most of the meeting. From everything you had been told, that was unusual.
“Tech, Wrecker tells me that you’ve been analyzing statistical data about your squad to maximize your effectiveness. What kind of variance are you looking at?”
Tech stared at you for a long moment. “A difficult question to answer, as the variance has increased significantly since you and Wrecker met.”
“Excuse me?” you asked politely, taken aback by his implication.
“The frequency at which Wrecker is injured has increased by roughly 2.7% since the two of you started your relationship.”
“Tech,” Hunter reprimanded sharply.
“Ease off,” Crosshair said, voice low.
You glanced at Wrecker, sitting tensely beside you. “You didn’t tell me you were getting hurt on your missions.”
“Just a little,” he admitted, glaring at Tech.
“By my calculations, this places his risk of a fatal accident at 9% and growing,” Tech finished, unbothered by Wrecker’s glare or his brothers’ words of warning. “Added to the fact that Wrecker wears less armor than a trooper of his size should, he is highly at risk.”
“What is this about your armor?” you asked Wrecker, pinching his side when he avoided looking your way.
“Hey! That hurt!” he complained, finally looking down at you.
“Not as bad as a piece of shrapnel would!” you lectured him. “As soon as we get home, I’m going to start working on a better set of armor for you. I have some leftover plates from the commando armor comparison. I can use that as a basis…”
“What about your Phase III?” Wrecker asked, a bit desperately.
“That doesn’t matter!” you snapped. “If I can’t keep you safe, none of it matters! I’m designing heavy-duty armor for you, you’ll participate in extra drills with your team until you get used to it, and I want a report on every injury, minor or not!”
“Told you,” Hunter said, sounding satisfied.
“Five credits,” Crosshair sighed.
“The deal was twenty,” Tech argued, then allowed himself a small smile. “I like them.”
“Yeah,” Hunter agreed.
Crosshair, studying his new scope, just nodded. You caught only bits of their conversation, though, since you were still semi-arguing with Wrecker.
“C’mon, let’s go back to your place,” Wrecker pled.
“So I can get started on your armor right away?” you asked. “Good idea!”
“But… you love me,” Wrecker pouted.
You softened and leaned up to plant a kiss on his lips, ignoring the scoffs and smothered chuckles from his brothers. “I do, Wrecker. I love you so much that I can’t stand the idea of you getting hurt. Now let’s go.”
Wrecker sighed heavily, but clambered to his feet and waved goodbye to his brothers as he followed you out.
---
A/N - I don’t actually know if the Bad Batch wears Phase II clone trooper armor or Katarn-class commando armor, so I just went with commando armor and modified helmets.
Thanks for reading! You can see other works like it here or feel free to request something of your own!

The Mandalorian Tarot: Major Arcana
If you’re following me, you know this is a Mandalorian obsessive account. I love the man, I love the show, I write a Mando-fando that is all about pining and touch. I tend to go all in when I have an interest.
Another one of my interests? Tarot. A friend challenged me to Mandalorify the major arcana. And because Jon and Dave know their stuff and are good with archetypes (which is all tarot really is), it was an easy fit.
YOU GOT MANDO IN MY TAROT. YOU GOT TAROT IN MY MANDO. TWO GREAT TASTES THAT TASTE GREAT TOGETHER.
But. I can’t draw, so I’ve dreamed them in words and included the Rider-Waite-Smith deck illustrations that I would riff on if I could.
READY? LET’S PLAY.
(All tarot illustrations by Pamela Colman Smith. All Mandalorian images property of Star Wars/Disney.)
UPDATE! @heathenashtattoos has taken up where I cannot and is making these cards a reality! I will post them individually and come back to link them to this post as we go.
Tumblr media
0 THE FOOL = THE MANDALORIAN / IT IS MADE! --->
The story of the tarot is the Fool’s journey, the arc of becoming. So it makes sense to me that Din would be the fool. Fits even better, since he has tremendous Fool energy in his himbo tendencies, just rushing forward into situations without a lot of planning--he’ll deal with it when he’s in it--ready to rely on others to show him the way or guide/help him to the next step.
If I could draw: Din on the cliff, with his jetpack on, meaning he has no fear of falling. Instead of the bindle-stick the Fool carries, he’d have his pulse rifle slung over his shoulder. Instead of the dog nipping at his heels, Grogu. And, of course, the landscape would be Tatooine/Navaro-esque.
~~~
Tumblr media
1 THE MAGICIAN = LUKE SKYWALKER , IT IS MADE! --->
The Magician is someone who is still learning to bend the laws of magic/the Universe, but very adept with their tools. Since Luke is only a few years into his Jedi training at this time, he makes a pretty good Magician.
If I could draw: Luke in his blacks, holding up his lightsaber. The Jedi symbol would replace the infinity sign.
***
2 THE HIGH PRIESTESS = AHSOKA TANO / IT IS MADE! -->
High Priestess is further along the path of her magic than Magician, and her knowledge is more intuitive, her skills more effortless. Where the Magician is still learning the balance of light and dark, the High Priestess knows the value and pitfalls of both. It was always going to be Ahsoka.
If I could draw: Ahsoka sitting cross-legged in meditation mode, but with eyes open and a knowing smile. Instead of two pillars, she holds her lightsabers up and parallel to each other.
***
3 THE EMPRESS = PELI MOTTO / IT IS MADE! -->
The Empress is the mother figure, the energy in the universe that provides all that is needed and embodies the energy of creation. I can see the argument for Omera being the Empress--mostly because she is a mom and she’s soft and a lot of people see the Empress as a soft female figure, I get it. (And if I were to do a minor arcana, girl would show up as one of the Queens for sure.) But in the end, I gave it to Peli because she’s a recurring character, more relevant in his story, and if Din is the Fool, Peli is more an Empress to him. She’s able to be the provider of his particular needs; services to his ship to get him up flying, contact and location information, and she’s always willing to care for Grogu whenever she gets the chance.
If I could draw: Peli sitting in the dock, against the R4 unit, holding aloft a spanner and surrounded by her pit droids.
***
4 THE EMPEROR = BOBA FETT / IT IS MADE! -->
The Emperor is all about authority. And all I gotta say about Boba is BIG DICK ENERGY.
If I could draw: Just put him on the Jabba throne and let him lounge like a badass.
~~~
Tumblr media
5 THE HIEROPHANT = THE ARMORER / IT IS MADE! -->
The Hierophant is the keeper of traditions and a spiritual guide. As the leader of the covert and keeper of the Way, The Armorer fits.
If I could draw: The Armorer, framed by her forge, holding aloft her tools, with Mandalorian acolytes. Instead of the crossed keys at the bottom, let’s just have a mythosaur skull.
***
6 THE LOVERS = FROG LADY AND FROG HUSBAND
This should be obvious and I will fight anyone who says it isn’t the right thing to do. I will die for this.
If I could draw: I would actually depart from the Smith depiction and just draw them embracing or holding each other by the arms and staring into each others’ eyes. Some kind of glowing background? Maybe the egg tank?
***
7 THE CHARIOT = THE MUDHORN
Oh. You thought I was going to say the Razor Crest, didn’t you. Don’t worry, I have plans for our beloved craft, but it ain’t here. The Chariot can be a ride, yes, but it’s about victory. Sometimes it’s about the victory over your inner “beastly” natures. To travel to the next phase in the journey, the Fool must take on the beasts that drive the Chariot and claim dominance over them, and when he does, they will carry him to the next level. Since it’s the victory of the beastly mudhorn that brings Din to his bond with Grogu and becomes his signet, Mudhorn for the win.
If I could draw: Again, I’d probably play on Smith’s imagery, put the charging mudhorn in the middle, and replace the rams with Din on his knees brandishing the vibroblade and Grogu in his pram with his Force hand up.
***
8 STRENGTH = CARA DUNE
Don’t come at me about including Cara. I am glad Gina got shown the door and I lose no love on that bigot. But. Cara is not Gina and to cut her out is to cut out Jon and Dave’s creation and I won’t do it.  I actually love her a lot--she’s got her flaws, but she’s sassy and strong and solid, and I would happily accept a piggyback ride from her any day. She’s also a major player in Din’s story and deserves a spot in it. Strength comes after the Chariot--once you’ve conquered the beast within, you have confident dominion over it and it becomes a companion or a tool for your use. Cara is one with her toughness, she’s used it to do some good and bad shit in her past, and she continues to wield it effortlessly and fearlessly. She is absolutely this card.
If I could draw: I would put her maybe sitting on top of the downed ATST. I’d replace the infinity symbol over her head with the one on her cheek (Rebel Alliance).
~~~
Tumblr media
9 THE HERMIT = KUIIL
The Hermit is a loner, yes, but in his solitude he looks within, learns from all he’s been through, and becomes wise. He holds aloft a light of wisdom and truth. This was always going to be Kuiil.
If I could drawn: Just our buddy, looking out over the Arvala-7 landscape, holding aloft an in-universe working lamp. No need to get fancy. He would want it to stay simple.
***
10  THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE = IMPERIAL SYMBOL AND STORM TROOPERS
The Wheel is fate. You win some, you lose some. Sometimes you’re on top, and sometimes the Wheel crushes you beneath it. You are helpless to its roll and where you’ll land. Storm Troopers are such a sad bunch. They are keepers of Imperial Law on the ground. On a good day, they capture a Rebel or hold off an attack. On a bad day, their Moff just blasts them to make an example.
If I could draw: The wheel would just be the Imperial symbol and there’d be Troopers on and under it. Maybe the one on top is just standing there, looking authoritative. The one underneath has been blasted. Some Wheels have two more figures--one on each side--and I’d add those too. The one on the down-going side would be falling, arms flailing, blaster shooting (if only sound were available, there’d be a Whilhelm scream), and the one on the up-going side would just be dangling by one arm, along for the ride.
***
11 JUSTICE = COBB VANTH
Well, it just feels right to make the Marshal into Justice. But it’s not just a literal translation of making sure the right thing gets done and the bad guys are punished. Justice is about wiping away emotion and making decisions with bare truth, looking at every side of the situation and understanding what is really there. And I think Cobb fits this well. He doesn’t want to give up his armor because of what it means for the protection of his people. But he’s willing to consider it, if there’s another way he can protect them. Emotionally, he doesn’t want to deal with the Tusken Raiders, but he does it because he can see it’s the best course of action. He flies into battle with the Krayt Dragon. He gives up his armor without a fight. He makes a fair trade and sees the balance in it because he walks away from the emotion and chooses the best course of action. Cobb Vanth for Justice, errybody.
If I could draw: Cobb in the Fett armor, but with the helmet at his feet. In one hand, a bottle of spotchka. In the other, the Tusken mushroom drinky thing; he’s holding them with equal balance.
***
12 THE HANGED MAN = MIGS MAYFELD
The Hanged Man is not just about a dude who’s hanging upside down. (If that was the case, I would have just gone with Gor Koresh and called it a day.) Hanged Man is about changing your perspective to see things in a new way so you can grow. Many times, this growth also requires sacrifice. Over the two episodes we see Mayfeld, we know he goes from Imperial sharp shooter, to traumatized deserter, to merc, prisoner, and exonerated friend. He’s seen some shit, given up a lot, and he’s willing to see how he can be a help to others and find redemption for himself.
If I could draw: Hear me out. Take the image of Mayfeld hanging upside down from the Crest hatch into the prison ship. Mirror that above with an image of him in his Imperial Ground Transport gear. Flip it all upside down so bad Mayfeld up top, good Mayfeld on bottom, images mirrored but inverted, hence “looking at things a new way and getting everything a little topsy-turvey.”
13 DEATH = MOFF GIDEON
Death is about transformation, so it’s not always the most sinister card. But Death does not discriminate. It comes for us all, constantly stalking, and it will strike you down to serve its needs. You need to face Death to get to your redemption. But really, Gideon is our big baddie here, so why the hell not.
If I could draw: I would forgo the Smith illustration and go for the Marseilles tradition on this one. Gideon and the Darksaber replaces Death and the scythe.
***
14 TEMPERANCE = IG-11
Temperance is the transformation that comes after Death. Once Death has chopped your physical being into pieces with his scythe, Temperance is there to take all your pieces and put them back together into something new and better. It’s also a card that asks you to re-evaluate your priorities and see if you can find better motivations than you previously had. IG’s death and reprogramming speak loudly to me on this.
If I could draw: IG pouring the tea.
***
15 THE DEVIL = THE CLIENT
Here’s another baddie card that’s all about your worst faults, about excess and giving into the stuff that will eventually kill your soul. The Client holds on hard to the Empire, doing whatever he’s ordered to do to be one of the top dogs. And in the end, it doesn’t matter. Gideon takes him down like he’s nothing.
If I could draw: The client, wearing his Empire bling, with chains around Doctor Pershing and a rough-looking Storm Trooper.
***
16 THE TOWER = THE RAZOR CREST
I don’t know about you, but Chapter 14 killed me. And not because the Dark Troopers flew away with Grogu. We all knew Din would never stop at getting him back. But when the Crest was destroyed, it was like someone punched me in the soft parts, and I made a lot of severely anguished noises. The Tower is the most tragic card in the tarot. It’s when forces beyond your control make a very big (and usually negative) impact in your life and everything changes. You are left to pick up the pieces and survive any way you can with the skills and resources you’ve been blessed with.
If I could draw: Just that moment of the ray hitting our beautiful Crest, just as it begins to break apart, maybe with Din, Boba, and Fennec watching in horror in the foreground.
~~~
Tumblr media
17 THE STAR = GROGU
The Star is hope. It comes after the biggest tragedy in the deck to tell you that not all is lost. There is always something there to live for. C’mon, kids. In this series, there was only one choice.
If I could draw: Just Grogu. Maybe drinking his soup. Or maybe he’s levitating his metal ball overhead, reaching up to it with a smile on his face. *coos*
***
18 THE MOON = BO KATAN KRYZE
We all like Bo Katan, sure. But remember my Clone Wars/Rebels fiends, she was Death Watch, and they were terrorists. She sided with Maul to take over Mandalore. Sure, she’s come a long way and her path is a bit more honorable now, but she’s got an agenda, which makes her hard to trust. Since the Moon is about more feminine energies and has themes of illusion and deception--things look great in the moonlight, but maybe not as they really are--Bo Katan’s our girl.
If I could draw: Head and shoulders profile, double-imaged so you see her face, but her Nite Owl helmet superimposed in profile over it. Nite Owl signet on the bottom. Possibly flanked by her two Nite Owl cronies.
***
19 THE SUN = GREEF KARGA
Everything's sunny when Greef’s around! He’s the feel-good gramps that’s going to make any situation A-Ok! If you’ve got a problem, Greef can sort it out...or he knows someone who can! The sun is always gonna shine on you and take you back.
If I could draw: Just Greef smiling and being cheesy with the halo of the sun around him.
***
20 JUDGEMENT = FENNEC SHAND
This card traditionally shows the resurrected rising from the grave, ready to be judged. Fennec’s got a lot to answer for in her life, but she is being given a second chance, and my number one girl crush is going to do new and wonderful badass things with it.
If I could draw: I’d either just show her opening her gut pocket to show her new works, all full of aura, with her looking down at it reverently. OR I might do a scene of her being rescued by Boba.
~~~
Tumblr media
21 THE WORLD = THE HELMET
Din’s helmet is the world he lives in. But it’s also a symbol of The Way. The World represents completion, a wholeness of self and being, the end of the journey. And since Din is our Fool, his journey is an exploration of his morals and honor, what it means to walk the way of the Mandalore, and what the meaning of the helmet is for him. He may choose ultimately to keep it on and go all-in on Mandalorian-4-lyfe (Child of the Watch style), or he may understand that the helmet is just a symbol and the honor was in him all along; he can wear it or not wear it and it’s all the same.
If I could draw: The World usually depicts a circle or sphere of some kind, the symbol of perfect completion. The helmet is close enough, so it takes up the center. Traditionally, there are four symbols in the corners that give more meaning to The World, and I would replace them with The Razor Crest, Grogu, the Mudhorn Signet, and the pulse rifle or blaster. These represent his home, his foundling, his clan, and his religion, all of which make up more of the whole; what it means to him to be Mandalorian.
