#TMayNT 2 Favorite April

It’s gotta be April from rottmnt of course! She was my first April O’Neil, and I absolutely adore her sass! When I first watched a different TMNT, lemme tell you I was startled because April wasn’t black XD. I know now that April usually has white skin, but black April just makes so much sense to me! Also, I quite like how she has glasses, but how they aren’t a key character trait. Like, she takes them on and off depending on the occasion. I do that with my glasses, cause I can see without them. I just see better with them on! It’s nice to see a character in media who isn’t fully dependent on glasses. I feel like far to often, people who wear glasses are portrayed as blind.

no particular theme, just a few ideas that i think are neat :3

a character that really likes journaling, and another character that accidentally happens upon it and reads a few lines

"You are so much more than what people say you are."

a character waiting for their flight in the airport. and the stranger that asks to sit by them because they're near a charging area.

addendum to the last one, finding out they're sitting next to each other for the whole flight.

the trope of a cafe being too busy and having to share a table with someone they don't know lives rent free in my head

alkf soulmate au soulmate au soulmate au, i personally like the matching marks one the most, but a lot of other popular ones i've seen are to do with eyes meeting and seeing color, touching and marks forming in the shape of that touch, being able to write on their skin for their soulmate to see, and shared dreams

maybe because i'm a sucker for angst but i'm also a big fan of soulmate au's in which one character's soulmark disappears or covered because of scars or a near death experience. not just because of the complications it creates for their fated to find them, but also the feeling of losing the one thing that connected them to their soulmate

painting/studio mates that are always working together. always in the studio together, working on projects late into the night. and it's this almost silent rivalry of who can make the most progress or who can stay in the studio the latest. how they always examine each other's painting and critique them in front of the whole class. at one point, they get to talking, reluctantly admitted to each other's skill. catch feelings. become each other's muse/inspiration. the works.

something about the tragedy of watching someone go to college in a major they hate. that they would be disowned if they chose their passion. how they were only happy in the one art class that their schedule allowed them to take. painting the walls with your name, if you can't remember this moment at least that room will. there was pain in the thought that they could've double majored. if only they knew about the possibility sooner.

like it's so tragic to me watching character be groomed as an heir to a big company or throne, when all they want is to know peace away from that world. they want the freedom to choose but can't for fear of losing everything they have. they will go through the motions if only to survive for the few moments of joy. but my favorite trope? when we see them find others that bring them the peace they crave. or y'know. when they leave their whole life behind, bright-eyed into the unknown.

i fucking love au's. i think i mentioned a pokemon au before but like aughhh love them. idk i just like thinking about what pokemon a character would use and what their ace would be. ALSO if they would be the kind of person that wants to beat the gym masters, win pokemon beauty competitions, use them for help in their profession, or just like, as a little guy, just a pet, what an adorable friend.

Hello hello! Let's start prepping for AU April!

I chose to make a weekly challenge instead of daily because I feel it'll put waaay less pressure on both myself and everyone else.

Follow along with my prompts or don't, just have some fun! If you do decide to participate feel free to tag me as well and/or tag your posts #au april 2024 (Also! This is not just OCs or just fandom, it's whatever you want!)

Week 1: Supernatural/Fairytale This one I thought would be a pretty interesting combination if people chose to do so! But otherwise, by supernatural I personally mean supernatural creatures! Werewolves, vampires, witches oh my! You can interpret this however you'd like though :-) Fairytale can be an aesthetic prompt, a character prompt, or even just inserting your characters of choice into your favorite fairytale!

Week 2: School/Band This week's prompts are much more straight forward. School just means putting your character(s) of choice in a school setting! This could be high school, university, or even grade school if you're so inclined. If they're already in school you could move them up or down in years! It's all up to you :-D Band can mean whatever you want it to mean, whether that be a group of rockstars or a couple of friends in someone's garage! What would suit your character(s) best?

Week 3: Merfolk/Pirate Luckily, these one's are pretty self-explanatory. Easy to mix too! Have some nautical fun and put your character(s) on the water!

Week 4: Coffee Shop/Fake Dating Blast from the past! Let's all embrace some old tropes and make something fun! Fake Dating doesn't have to be a ship either, it can be whatever dynamic you'd like.

I've been using the monthly screenshot prompts for my FC but with April being a clusterfuck month with Lalas, Viera, and Aura all overlapping and some months having nothing, we use this setup: January: Jobuary. For both combat and non-combat classes, jobs, and general roles. February: Febhyurary, for Hyur. March: Miqomarch, for Miqo'te. April: Vierapril, for Viera May: Mixedmay. This is for characters that are mixed more than one playable race, characters that are canonically from a non-playable race (Padjali, Garleans, etc), characters that aren't any in-game canonical race (like we have someone who has made a moth viera and I've seen kitsune themed Miqo). I also allow people to showcase characters from completely different MMOs like BDO, ESO, PSO2, WoW, GW2, etc. June: Junelezen, for Elezen. July: Julalafell, for Lalafell. August: Auraugust, for Au Ra. September: Shiptember. For pairings whether they're WoL x NPC, two WoLs, or characters of two people who are involved outside the game. This year we're gonna be using the marchofthetropes prompts someone found on Twitter. October: Hrothtober, for Hrothgar. Hoping we'll have Femhroth by the time this one rolls around this year. November: Roevember, for Roegadyn. December: free month. We don't do anything this month because we got Endwalker in December and might see 7.0 in Dec this year hopefully.
