Imagine Valentino seeing you shopping and he tried to approach you only for a red smoke to cover you as you blinked confused to see an overprotective Lucifer smiling at you as you had teleported to the hotel. But with Lucifer, you could see his real feelings as you felt confused.

After a few months you and Pentious became friends because of one of his egg boiz named Frank said his “boss” wants to be friends with you. You giggled and nodded as you and sir Pentious do trust exercises together when Charlie host them.

Husk had dilated eyes and purr at you because you scratched under his chin which made him snap out of his cat daze and slap your hand as you giggle with a soft gaze.

The Foundation (I’m Not Leaving You)

Had a vague idea. Churned this out in probably five minutes. Haven’t even read it through. Bone apple tit and all that jazz.

Steve thought of love like a house.

Not just any house; his house.

It looked great on the outside, and the inside was always ready, poised and perfect for guests, but really? It was lonely. It was fake. It was empty. It was everything Steve hated, everything he couldn’t get away from.

His breakup with Nancy only served to further prove his theory.

But then Eddie came along, and he couldn’t help but fall for him. He couldn’t help but love him, whole-heartedly.

And Christ, did that scare Steve. Because under all his throw pillows and open-concept living space, who was he? Why would Eddie stay when everything that makes up Steve could be gone with just the flick of a match?

It doesn’t make sense, really, for him to be standing at the site of where his house once was. It’s a pile of smoking rubble now—product of a faulty gas line—and Steve’s breaking.

Hard.

His knees crumble, and he’d fall to the pavement if Eddie didn’t catch him. “Hey,” Eddie says softly. “I know it’s a lot. I know it’s scary. But you can get through this, okay?” He whispers. “We can get through this. Cause I’m not leaving you.” He helps Steve back up, leads him towards the ash and ruin.

“Look here,” he murmurs, tracing the line of where the kitchen had been with his pointed finger. “The foundation’s still there, baby. All that’s gone is everything you hated in the first place. I know all this change at once is scary, but maybe you could see it as a good thing. The foundation’s still there, rock-solid. Now you can build it back up the way you want, the way you need, with everything that makes it you. How’s that sound?”

For the first time, Steve lets himself love fully; lets himself turn and bury his face in Eddie’s neck, lets his fingers clutch at Eddie’s waist as he tries for regulate his breathing. Lets Eddie see all of him. “Sounds pretty good,” he admits.

You were there for him when Lilith left him. He was so down but you cheered him up.

When Lucifer and Alastor had their little sing session he was so happy that you sided with him and not that red deer guy.

He thinks it’s adorable that you get along with Charlie. He loves the way you care about her, and believe in her dreams.

Besides his “calm” personality he gets quite protective over time. When he notices you get hurt by something/someone he is immediately there you care for you.

He makes unhinged comments and jokes without even noticing that they’re out of place sometimes.

Ever since angel called him a “Short king” the term has stuck with him. He casually calls himself that as well.

He tries to learn more slang from the other residents and tries them out on you… “You serve *snaps fingers*… the outfit slaps ngl.” You just laughed your ass off due to his stiff voice and lack of feeling.

He enjoys basin and cooking a lot. He prefers to have you as a helper.

He’s a ambivert who’s pretty good at masking. Not many people notice when he’s exhausted.

Definitely a hopeless romantic. He WILL take you on a date with roses and jazz in the background. And if everything goes well he maybe even take you to his place?

He likes to get dominated but he also loves to dominate. Whatever you’re up to actually, he’ll just go along with it.

Groans overall but whimpers and whines when he’s close.

When you ride on top of him he digs his fingers into your sides and it gets firmer and stronger as he finishes.

He is definitely very weak in the way that he can’t hold in for long. You do one right move and he’s cumming fast.

He also enjoys bondage very much. He’d fuck you while you hand from the roof with a gag in your mouth. In combo with a blindfold? Seeing you drool? He finishes faster than you can say “Bow chika bow bow.”

He easily gets distracted by literally anything and everything. Also procrastinates a lot.

He loves hugs from the back. And hugs in general make him feel so loved by you.

His love languages are Physical Touch and Acts of Service. You making him breakfast and cuddles afterwards? He’s straight up in love.

“You made this all for me love…? Wow that’s so amazing thank you so so much…” he gets stressed easily so seeing how much you care for him makes him tear up.

some things i've been into recently:

fruit pies🍓🍎 i love adapting which kind i make to the season. in the summer i made a strawberry-rhubarb pie (best flavor!) & a ginger-peach pie & this fall i made one with apples i picked from the orchard! next, i want to try my hand at a latticed crust.

a love supreme by john coltrane🎷crazy album! obviously coltrane sounds incredible, but i also can't get over elvin jones' drumming & the way he lights a fire under everyone else's playing. sidenote: i love his nickname trane, but i find calling him j.c. funny because he's like jesus, the spiritual leader of jazz :)

a woman under the influence: my first cassavetes🎥 oof, it's so impactful... gena rowlands is truly in a league of her own. the physicality of her acting really impressed me - how lyrical & playful it was at times & how wounded & fearful it was at others.

the passion by jeannette winterson🎭this was a return to my love of both historical fiction & magical realism. winterson's prose is so vivid & captivating & was especially inspiring to me because it echoes the style i've been striving for in my own writing.

cafe study dates with friends☕i've been doing these weekly on fridays & it's been such a lovely way to end my weeks, getting to catch up while still being productive. today, i'm meeting my friend at a cafe in little italy & i'm going to try to make some progress on my anthropology of law essay. wish me luck!

Thoughts on Tim Sweeney's future of video games being all about live service experiences?

Epic has primarily been a multiplayer-only developer for close to (if not more than) 20 years now. And Fortnite in particular has made them billions and billions and billions of dollars.

Like, I believe it came out as part of the Apple trial, Epic made 20 billion dollars in 2022 alone. That's $20,000,000,000. And that's just for that one year. Fortnite has, since then, had multiple times where they've broken all kinds of concurrent player records, and now Fortnite as a business has grown to encompass multiple entire games.

It would be easy to say that, in its entire life time, just Fortnite alone has very likely earned Epic Games close to one hundred billion dollars.

So if you're looking at things from a purely monetary perspective, as a "𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚍𝚞𝚌𝚝" that generates "𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚏𝚒𝚝", then yes. You would naturally say this. You would say, "we made a live service product that has generated more money than anything we've ever made combined, ergo that is the future." You are successful, so you want to repeat that success.

Which is the thing with these kinds of people, right. I know Tim Sweeny comes from the trenches, I know he wasn't always this rich, but he's speaking from the same perspective as, like... let's talk movies for a second.

Let's talk about the term "executive meddling." Film studio executives chase money. They chase trends. They'd like to be trend setters, but the fact of the matter is, a lot of them are too cowardly to do that. They wait until somebody else becomes a trend setter, they set up a mining operation in that trend, and bleed the vein dry until the next trend setter comes along.

You might have a really incredible idea for a movie, you might write a really amazing script, and it could turn out to be a legendary classic, but executives only see the world in dollar signs. If your movie doesn't hit "what's hot" then you are considered a risk and depending on how much of a risk you are, your legitimately great movie might get thrown in the dumpster.

And even if they are the ones to set a trend, that does not necessarily mean they are suddenly open and welcoming to new ideas. Again, it's all about going where the success is and staying there until the success stops happening.

Games are no different, except that it's much easier to have a breakout indie success on a lower budget than it is with a movie. There's a lot about making a movie that requires a crew of people to work, whereas an indie game can be the sole effort of a single person and still tear up the charts.

With the one hundred billion dollars Fortnite has made Tim Sweeny, he could fund hundreds of thousands of independent developers. Possibly even a million-plus. He could give these people careers. Even if they failed, it wouldn't matter, because he has one hundred billion dollars and lost maybe 0.001% of that. He could cultivate an entire cottage industry of his own. Multiple, even.

He doesn't even need to be that picky! He was on staff for Jazz Jackrabbit! It's Sonic with a gun! The next Tim Sweeny could be out there with something just as derivative, and just needs a little extra nudge, you know?

Instead, our current Tim Sweeny wants to make two hundred billion dollars. He wants to put Snoop Dogg in Fortnite, who has a lightsaber battle with the Demogorgon from Stranger Things. They are both killed when horror movie icon Micheal Myers pulls up in Paul Walker's Nissan Skyline from The Fast and the Furious, who blows them both up with a rocket launcher that shoots pumpkins. He is wearing an Among Us back pack.

Certainly, that is a video game. It is also definitely money, both coming in and going out like a firehose. But it will never be the only video game. To claim otherwise is just chest thumping for investors.

You can't take it with you, Tim. And one day, Fortnite will have to shut down. Seven-plus years of weapons, maps and gameplay will all evaporate overnight. Are you so sure you can trap lightning in a bottle again? I haven't forgotten Battle Breakers. The Metaverse only makes sense to those with infinite money, and nobody, not even you, truly have infinite money. Especially not in the ways you're burning it at both ends.

Besides that, Ready Player One was a dystopia! It was a dystopia, Tim! People weren't happy!

The Outer Circle

These members have a limited amount of knowledge into the scale or even the degree-of-illegality of Naven's empire (Bliss Ocean).

Molly Blyndeff, trudging through hard times with an uncaring family, Ms Blyndeff has been quietly emancipated in exchange for her eyes, ears, and unassuming demeanor. A little spy in short.

Trixie Roughhouse, a close friend of Molly's with a fascination with concoctions. Upon introduction, they were assigned to be apprenticed in moonshining at one of Naven's underground distilleries, though they personally prefer experimenting for unknown product.

Phoenica Fleecity, another friend of Molly's. She isn't of much use in criminal activities (also the least informed of Naven's doings), but her generous allowance does help grease the financial side of activities she has no business knowing about.

Howie Honeyglow, an engineer and construction contact of Naven's. He provides maintenance and solves any lack of facilities for 'business activities', by building them up in record time with little excess charges.

Giovanni Potage, leader of a band of misfits who broke off from another street gang; now in Naven's employ. As mentioned in a previous post, he provides the majority of grunt work in Sweet Jazz City for Bliss Ocean. His talent lies in his rousing leadership which keeps morale steady no matter the branch, much to Naven's surprise. Hosts weekly hotpot nights for his brothers (in-arms).

Percival King, the officer who chose peace. She sees Naven as a major businessman with some connections to the criminal underworld; thus a deal was struck where Percy cooperates with Naven in removing the violence on the streets (and kills off competition) while Percy avoids further investigating Naven's influence that made the deal possible.

Indus Tarbella. Formerly Mera's self-declared servant and bodyguard, he now provides security and butler-like services in extension to Naven as a means to remain close to Mera.

The Inner Circle

Everyone here has blood on their hands. These are the men and women who initiates and executes the family's plans. Aka Bliss Ocean Proper.

Zora Salazar: former bounty hunter, gunsmith, and living action film 'protagonist'. Once carried out a hit halfway across the country within a single day by jumping off a wing of a plane midair onto a passing train to cut time. She usually works alone over larger distances outside of Sweet Jazz City.

Mera Salamin, the main (once) licensed surgeon and occasional strategist. She was out of a career after leaving glass shards in a patient and former co-worker who allegedly harassed her. But her swift manner of action caught Naven's attention, and she refuses to play on the sidelines this time.

Ramsey Murdoch is the accountant and financial advisor, mainly for Naven's legitimate ventures but also reaffirms good and competitive business sense for an empire balancing its legal and illegal standings. Whilst Naven is a great dealmaker, Ramsey makes those bigger deals possible.

The Driver is Naven's eyes on the city, as well as his personal companion. Always (seemingly) a different person to outsiders, some speculate that Naven has Sweet Jazz City's private chauffeurs under his patronage. Though in reality, Yoomtah Zing is a master of disguise and has a more hands-on role in managing Naven's criminal operations alongside Mera.

Naven Nuknuk, former arms dealer to the IRA and the man who came from selling apples to apple cider. He is just a small fish in comparison to the big bosses in New York or Chicago, no need to pay heed to him! (The FBI certainly doesn't anymore)

Today was pretty busy, as Mondays are wont to be. I finished all of the conferral with the school for the fundraiser my club will be holding this week, and now all we have to do is set up apple pay because teenagers.

I FINISHED CATCH-22!!! I don't like the book overall, but it's moments of depth are pretty compelling. It basically ends with the MC on a horrifying acid trip, some real SCP stuff, before ending with some token power-of-friendship and all that jazz.

Finished composing script for AP Lit spoken word project,

Did AP Computer Science homework on parsing a .vtt file and extracting data from it.

Did AP Physics homework on integrating friction into our preexisting problems.

Self Care:

Still keeping at Vim keybinding practice, I'm getting pretty good at it.

My sister made quiche today, and that was a very good linner. (No, that wasn't a typo. If we can have brunch, why not?)

Lil' Red & The Rooster Bring Sassy Swing and Bluesy Charm in New Single "Goodbye Frowns"

Lil' Red & The Rooster’s latest single “Goodbye Frowns” is a vibrant, jazz-blues anthem. With its playful energy and groove, this song is a spirited reminder to embrace joy even during life’s tougher moments. 

Jen "Lil’ Red" Milligan’s sassy, scatting vocals capture the song’s message, while Pascal Fouquet, known as the “Rooster,” brings his distinctive guitar work - an expert blend of blues traditions and modern flair.

Together they have created a distinctive sound that draws on their “retro modern blues” style.

“Ne me suis pas dans mon film.” This is a French phrase which translates as “Don’t follow me into my film,” and it is the guiding sentiment behind the song. 

Lil’ Red’s light drumming syncs with Pascal’s intricate guitar work on a vintage Stella acoustic, and we can hear the distinct influence of B.B. King and Django Reinhardt emerge into something of their own. 

Chicago bassist Felton Crews completes the trio, laying down smooth six-string bass lines and a rhythmic foundation that complements the lively interplay between vocals and guitar. 

This upbeat feel-good song offers a lively preview of Lil’ Red & The Rooster’s upcoming 2025 album which promises to explore further their unique sound of blues and jazz.

And at a time when love songs often only focus on heartbreak, “Goodbye Frowns” takes on a different approach - a bright, swinging reminder that true happiness is something cultivated within and shared best when both partners bring their own joy to the relationship. 

“Goodbye Frowns” was recorded at JoyRide Studio and mixed by Brian Leach and offers us a glimpse into the duo’s forthcoming 2025 album. 

About Lil’ Red & The Rooster

Jen “Lil' Red” Milligan and Pascal Fouquet, the dynamic duo behind Lil’ Red & The Rooster, have been creating music together since 2010. Both drawn to the blues early in their lives, their shared passion brought them together and formed a bond as deep as their love for the genre. 

Their sound is the product of years of fine-tuning and evolving. Jen’s background spans musical theater and rhythm and blues, with her lively stage presence honed by performances in iconic shows like Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar. Pascal, who is a native of Normandy France, has been shaped by his years performing with blues legends like Diunna Greenleaf and Mike Sanchez, adding a layer of international flair to his already impressive guitar work.

Their debut album Soul Burnin’ (2018) was produced by Chicago blues icon Dave Specter, and marked a major milestone for the duo. Recorded at JoyRide Studio by Blaise Barton, the album captured their diverse influences and cross-continental sound. Then in 2019, Lil’ Red & The Rooster reached the finals of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. 

When not headlining festivals or playing intimate shows at places like Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago, Lil' Red & The Rooster continue to refine their sound, bringing the healing power of the blues to audiences worldwide.
