#apparently I just have a lot of thoughts on this

Absolutely would have been this person in that time but not because I'm dumb, just because I have auditory processing disorder and fear backlash upon asking questions because my questions are apparently common sense?
One time at gymnastics my partner had to leave early, and I wanted to keep training so my coach asked me to practice vertical splits, except he's Russian and asked me to do leg raises (repetitions of bringing my leg up to vertical split to work both strength and flexibility) but I, having only heard "leg raises" in the context of hanging from a bar and raising your legs 90° to work your lower abs and hip flexors, got up on the bar and started doing leg raises. My coach thought I was insane because I started conditioning an hour early. I was woefully confused. It could have been cleared up with a single question.
So like, ask the dumb question, if you get shit for asking tell them exactly how you understand the situation or request, and they will explain the correct course of action in excruciating detail. They'll be huffy about it, but in my extensive experience on the matter they're much more annoyed when you do it wrong than when you ask for clarification. I still chicken out a lot but life is much less stressful when you adopt an "insist on thorough communication" attitude, because eventually you'll come to learn that if you did everything in your power to get the right, complete and accurate information or instructions, if you fail it is on the other party for not being able to communicate like an adult.
Go forth and water horses I suppose, or explain that you are about to pour water over the horse so the owner can go "no that means take the horse to the water hole or stream or whatever they drink from and let it drink" and they might add "god are you dumb?" but if you pour water over the horse they will scream at you about it for a long time. And "god are you dumb?" is much less humiliating.

Damaged - part 2
previous || next (coming soon)
Azriel x f! reader
After a long and arduous recovery, you are finally able to feel safe in the House of Wind. You can't help but feeling as if something, or someone, is missing.
Word Count: 2777
Warnings: Reader healing from wounds, some mentions of past trauma (including blood, violence, and abuse), Rhys being nice (?)
A/N: Holy shit, thank you all for the love on part 1. I was not expecting that AT ALL, but Iâm really glad youâre all enjoying it! This is, sadly, another part without much Az, but heâs coming (he's WHAT), I promise đ
masterlist || request guidelines
The past week was a blur of darkness and pain. Your only real memories consisted of hazy visions of winged males, swirling shadows, and an elderly female fae with kind brown eyes.
As your eyes drifted open, you were blinded by the brightness flowing into the room from the opened curtains. The elder fae you had seen throughout your recovery hissed at someone else in the room, âMorrigan, close that curtain. Youâll give the poor girl a headache.â
Your blurry vision began to clear as the panging in your head became apparent. The pain seemingly spread throughout your body as you fully woke. A groan escaped you as you tried to shift yourself up to better observe the unfamiliar room you found yourself in, only to be gently pushed down by the same female that had just spoken.
âDonât try to sit up. Youâve recovered a lot, but you still need rest.â Her voice was kind but strict, leaving no room for debate.
When you spoke, your voice came out rough, throat feeling like ash, âwhere am I?â
Another voice filled your ears as a beautiful female with golden hair moved into your vision, âyouâre safe. Cassian and Rhys got you to the House of Wind just in time.â She sounded like honey; soft and sweet.
Her words registered with you, âRhys, as in high lord Rhysand?â You again tried to sit up in the bed, shocked that Cassian had brought you to the home of the high lord.
The younger fae, who you had figured out was the Morrigan, laughed as the other huffed at you, but she didnât push you back down. You leaned your back against the headboard, the wood cold against your wings.
âDonât say it like heâs some god, heâll get even more of an ego. But yes, the high lord. He winnowed you from just outside of Ironcrest.â
The older female spoke next, âand youâre lucky he did. If you had gotten here any laterâŚâ She shook her head, dismissing the thought.
Your heart clenched at the thought that you had almost died.
The two females in the room seemed to notice your thoughts as your eyes glazed over, your last conscious memories replaying in your mind. Morrigan gently grasped your hand, âyouâre safe now. I promise those males wonât ever lay a hand on you again.â
A tear fell from your eye as you turned your head to look at her, âI just wanted to be able to defend myself.â
âThose cowards cornered you. It was three against one. Even if you had been training with Cas for years, they would still have had an advantage.â Anger and disgust laced her voice, and the glint in your eyes told you that these were not the first cowardly males she had encountered.
You nodded at her words, but no response escaped you. You couldnât shake the thought that if you had just been stronger, you could have protected yourself. Or if you had just obeyed your brotherâs wishes, you wouldnât even be in this situation.
Morrigan seemed to sense your reluctance to accept her words as truth, so she turned to the other female in the room. âMadja, do you think it would be alright for her to eat something?â
The elderly fae nodded, swiftly leaving the room. Morrigan sat on the bed next to you, careful not to move your injured body, âCassian told me your name is Y/N, right?â
You nodded, and she continued, âYou can call me Mor. Cassian didnât tell me much about what happened before the attack, but I promise you that the people here will never treat you the way you were treated back in the camp.â
You didnât have the words to respond. Part of you hoped what she was saying was true, but another part of you knew that your brother, despite his faults, had always looked out for you. Until now, that is.
âIf you want to train once youâre all healed, Cassian and I can help you. If you want to go back to Ironcrest, that is your choice, though one I would hate for you to make.â
You furrowed your brows at her, âYou would let me stay? You donât even know me.â
She smiled softly at you, âletâs just say our high lord has a soft spot for those who have experienced the worst this world has to offer. And Cas has told us enough about you for all of us to trust you.â
Gently, you squeezed her hand, âdid he tell you I was the most difficult fae heâs ever had to train?â
Mor laughed, the sound falling gracefully onto your ears and drawing a small smile to your lips. âHe told us you had the balance of a newborn fawn, but that you were determined in your training.â
âDo you really think heâd want to train me even after seeing how utterly defenseless I was against those males?â You asked softly, the smile falling from your face.
She looked at you with a kindness you rarely saw, âIâll say it until your ears bleed, those males are cowards, and it took three of them to face you. You werenât defenseless and you are not hopeless, you just need training and some more confidence. Cassian would be lucky to have you as a trainee.â
You nodded, âokay then. Iâd like to stay here and train.â
Suddenly, Madja entered the room, ânot until you are fully healed. You will stay here and rest until I say.â She placed a tray holding bowl of soup and a glass of water on the table next to your bed. âI swear, all you Illyrians are the same, never wanting to heal, always wanting to train,â she mumbled.
Madja didnât clear you to leave the bed for another three days. In that time, Cassian, Rhysand, and Mor all took turns keeping you company. The first time you had met the high lord, you had clumsily tried to bow from your place in the bed, which more so looked like you trying to fold yourself in half. Of course, with the aching pain in your chest and stomach, this was accompanied by a grimace, which was not the face you had wanted to greet your high lord with. He had chuckled, waving you off with a âplease, youâre a guest in my home, I donât need the theatrics.â
You had quickly developed friendship with each of them, but none as close as Cassian. Perhaps because he was the fae you were most familiar with, or you just associated him with the feeling of safety.
You had thought of asking Cassian about the shadow-made man, but something in your gut stopped you from doing so. Perhaps you had just imagined him, and they would think you were mad if you brought him up.
By the time you were finally allowed to train, almost 2 weeks after waking up, you had begun to feel at home in the House of Wind. Youâd had meals with Rhys, Cassian, Mor, and Amren, a member of the household who seemed much older than a high fae should be. Mor had promised once you were at full health, she and Cassian would show you the city and take you shopping, to which Cassian huffed at.
You started to feel at peace.
That was until Cassian woke you up before dawn one day, demanding you change into training clothes that Mor had provided you and meet him in the training arena on top of the house. Though tired, you eagerly complied, excited to start back the training you had gotten so little of back at camp.
When you got to the arena, you marveled at the extensive sand pit and the weapons that hung on racks around it. Cassian laughed at your amusement, ânormally Az and I spar with just our hands, but sometimes we practice with the weapons, either on our own or with each other.â
âAz?â You questioned.
Casâs eyes went wide with realization, âthatâs right, you werenât exactly⌠conscious when he was here. Azriel is my brother,â he grinned, thinking of the male. âHeâs also our courtâs spymaster, so he comes and goes pretty frequently. Heâs off on a mission to who knows where right now, but he should be back by the end of the week. He keeps to himself, so you probably wonât see much of him when he is here, but once you get to know him, heâs a good guy.â
You nod, wondering if this was the shadow man you had believed your mind made up. But Cassian seemed so bright, you doubted his brother would be covered in such darkness. âWell, I look forward to meeting him.â
Your return to training was slow, but every morning you went up to the arena, Cas pushed you a little harder. By the end of your first week of training, you felt back to the way you were before youâd been attacked at camp.
Everyone was impressed by your progress, including yourself. You had expected to be haunted by the memories of those males, but you instead let it push you to train harder, wanting to ensure you were never in that situation again.
âWould you accompany out to the city today? I have a few things Iâd like to pick up and I want to show you around.â Rhys asked you while you were clearing the table from breakfast. âAnd, no offense, I think itâs time you pick out your own clothes instead of whatever Mor decides to gift you.â
You chuckled, looking down at the dress the female had given you that day. It was tighter than you were used to a dress being, and much more revealing than anything youâd worn in the camps. Mor had called it modest by her standards.
With a bright smile at the high fae, you said, âI would love to.â
The city of Velaris, Rhys informed you, was his closest kept secret, and you could immediately tell why. The bright colors of the Rainbow and the display of culture throughout the city instantly had your heart pounding with excitement. This was a safe haven in the night court, and you felt incredibly lucky that Rhysand had trusted you enough to bring you here.
He had stopped by a few shops, buying himself a new jacket that seemed to absorb darkness and a set of earrings that he intended to gift to Amren as a Solstice present. As you walked, he told you about the different shops in the city and stories of its inhabitants.
Your eyes went wide as he opened the door to a bakery, the smell of sugary bread filling your nostrils. Pastries you had never heard of lined the shelves of a glass case. He bought you a sweet bun filled with lemon-flavored icing, and you swore it was the best thing youâd ever tasted.
âI forgot how bland the food is at the markets back in the camps. Now that youâre in Velaris, Iâll make sure you get to experience the best food we have to offer.â He spoke as you gobbled up the sugary goodness.
You swallowed before speaking, âI really donât know how I can ever repay your kindness, Rhysand. Seriously.â
He waved you off, âkeep training and gathering your strength, and Iâm sure I can find you a place in my circle. But even if you never work for me, I will continue to spoil you with the goodness of this city. You deserve it.â
Happy tears filled your eyes as he spoke. You had never experienced such care before arriving to the House of Wind, and now it all felt overwhelming. âI donât have words to explain how honored I am to be here. One day, I will find a way to repay your kindness.â
He smirked playfully, âwell, until you do, Iâm going to continue to spoil you. I was thinking we could visit the clothes shops in the palace of thread and jewels.â
By the time you had finished shopping, you and Rhys were surrounded by bags filled with clothes and shoes. You insisted you would pay him back, but he simply waved off the expense as a âwelcome present.â
The sky was dark as you exited the last shop, and your eyes widened as you spotted the lights lining the river that ran through the city. The high lord seemed to take notice of your amazement, as if he had expected it. âItâs even better from above,â he said quietly. With a wave of his hands, the bags in your arms disappeared.
You were shocked at the easy display of magic, until you realized what he had implied. You looked at him sadly, âI canât- my wings-â
âIâll carry you,â he cut you off. You nodded, thankful he understood. He picked you up, strong arms beneath your back and knees, before shooting off into the sky. You wrapped your own arms tightly around his neck as you screeched, the sudden weightlessness of flying catching you off guard.
There was something about being in the air that felt so natural. You knew it was due to your heritage, as Illyrians belonged in the sky, but you had never had the opportunity to actually experience it until now.
And Rhys was right, the city was somehow more beautiful from up here. The lights reflected off the Sidra, the waves making them appear to dance. The city squares seemed alive with lights and people. It was all breathtaking.
Rhys carried you through the air, dipping low before shooting high, as if playing a game of tag with the wind. You laughed as it blew your hair in all different directions. You stayed in the air for almost an hour, though you felt as if you couldâve stayed for years, before you landed on a balcony back in the House of Wind.
âThank you for that, truly.â You spoke to him, removing your arms from his neck as your feet touched the ground.
He smiled at you, âany time.â
As you both walked into the seating room you had landed outside of, your breath is halted in your throat at the site of a male that had haunted your dreams since you arrived at the house.
Hazel eyes studied you for a moment before moving over to the male standing next to you. âRhys, we need to talk.â
Rhys smirked, prancing to a nearby bar cart and pouring himself a glass of fae wine, ânice to see you too, brother. Glad youâre home safe.â
The stunning maleâs expression remained neutral as he stared at Rhysand, unamused at his antics. You studied the angled bones of his cheeks and jaw, the shadows that swirled around his shoulders and neck. This was the man you had thought you imagined. And now that you had seen him, you were even more interested in learning more about him.
âRhys.â His tone was stern. His voice pulled goosebumps to your skin, the deepness fitting his dark and shadowy appearance.
The high lord gave you a pitiful smile, âyour bags are in your room, y/n, if youâd like to go admire your new belongings. Azriel and I need to discuss some things.â
You nodded, understanding his words for the dismissal they were. In that moment you also realized that this was the Azriel that Cassian had spoken to you so highly about. You remembered his words, âhe keeps to himself⌠but once you get to know him, heâs a good guy.â
You hoped you could find out for yourself.
As you made your way up the stairs, you couldnât stop thinking about the beautiful strangerâs face, the toned body underneath his Illyrian leathers, and the shadows that seemed to keep him constant company.
You would definitely try to find out for yourself.

(đď¸) ... hit the road docu.<> for you to walk comfortably
word count: 1k TW: fluff? nothing too crazy - woozi's segments pretty mild compared to what's about to go down (ââ˘ Ö â˘â) italics are interview moments cut between other scenes a/n: welcome to the first instalment of htr!
Cyana couldn't help but glance at Woozi when they won the Album of the Year at Asia Artist Awards. She wanted to see that glow of a smile flood across their producer member's face, a smile she so rarely got to see. He was usually so stoic around her.
"We won." Jeonghan breathed into her ear, pulling her and Dino in for a hug. "We won."
She looked at Woozi, who had been tugged into a group hug with Seungcheol and the others. "We won." She mumbled, mostly to herself. She couldn't quite believe it.
"It was hard to imagine we had won." Woozi said to the camera. "I was looking for Cyana the whole time, trying to see her reaction. I never thought we'd succeed with her next to us." He shrugged, a little sheepish. "Guess I was wrong."
"Hi!" Cyana waved to the camera. "We're practicing for our Osaka concert right now." She moved to show the members with the staff in the background. "Apparently they did this all last tour as well, to keep in line with the local staff."
Woozi could be seen directing the bulk of it, naturally taking over as he knew most about their sound design.
"It sounds a bit lower," Woozi said into his mic. "can we adjust that?"
"It was amazing, to see Woozi oppa controlling the stage, even when we weren't performing." Cyana smiled as she recalled. "It made it even harder to hold a grudge."
Woozi approached Cyana as they sat in the green room, two hours before the concert. She was busy eating, her phone propped up as she watched Criminal Minds on low volume.
"Your mic pack's acting up." He informed her, sitting down opposite her. "They're fixing it but we don't know how long it'll take."
Cyana paused her show, looking up worried. "Is there a spare?"
"The staff are finding one now." Woozi let out a loud sigh. "It's a bit hectic today."
"I was kind of checking everything that day. It wasn't that I was a perfectionist. There was just a lot of changes. It was a different size stage, we had changed formations and cue sheets." Woozi recalled the day.
Cyana nodded after hearing the interviewer's comment. "I don't think our performance in Osaka would've gone as well if it hadn't been for his attention to detail."
LOCATION: UNIVERSE FACTORY
"I spend most of my time at the studio. It's like my second home." Woozi explained. "It's also where I see Cyana the most."
Cyana's sprawled on the studio couch, face facing the ceiling as she listened to the track Woozi was playing. "Pause it." Cyana sat upright, her face in thought. "Wait, go back a few bars."
"I liked working with Woozi oppa. We didn't really have much to say to each other outside of work, but working on music was something that could bring us together." Cyana let out a tiny laugh. "I guess being sleep deprived does bring people together."
Woozi rewinds the track, bringing it back to the chorus. "Here?" He asked, looking at Cyana for confirmation.
The girl nodded. "Yeah, play it again?"
The two grew silent as they concentrated on the beats. Cyana stood up suddenly frowning. "What is that sound in the very back? The dat-dat-dat-dun." She mimed drumbeats as she tried explaining what she was hearing.
"Cyana didn't know how to work the sound mixing board yet, she was learning as we worked but I could tell it frustrated her, having to explain her thoughts to me." Woozi couldn't help but smile. "It was endearing, I have to say."
"I know what you mean." Woozi nodded, following her train of thought. "I hear it too. Must've altered when we mixed those two beats together yesterday." He clicked a few keys on the board. "I'll find it."
"Bumzu sunbaenim told me Woozi oppa's always been like this, even as a trainee. A pure musical genius." Cyana shook her head in mild disbelief. "I came to learn that producing is literally his entire life. He doesn't even think of it as anything special."
Cyana let out a yawn, sitting back down on her spot at the corner of the couch, curling her legs up. "You should take a break, oppa. You've been staring at that screen for hours."
"I felt bad, that I couldn't hold my fair share of the work. Sometimes it felt like I was just directing him." Cyana admitted. "I thought: he must feel annoyed, having the maknae throw ideas into his area of expertise."
Woozi stretched his arms, rolling his shoulders back. "I'm fine, Cyana. We can keep going." Rolling his chair across the room, he opened the mini fridge and threw her a bottle of water before taking one for himself. "We'll forget tomorrow."
Cyana could only smile ruefully at his persistence, taking a small sip of water. "Only if you're sure."
"What else can I say?" Woozi shrugged. "The members all say I work too hard. That I should be sleeping more, going out more, living more. But I am living- when I'm making music."
Woozi cued up the track once again, sifting through it to find the error both he and Cyana could hear. Cyana watched from behind, feet tapping absentmindedly to the rhythm.
The concert venue held an insane amount of people. Cyana could only stare out into the vast sea, smiling from the sidelines as Woozi started his Opening Ment.
"I'm a stickler for routine." Woozi said, elbows on his knees as he explained to the interviewer. "Cyana proved to me new things can be better than the old- and I'm grateful to her for that." He side eyes the staff. "She won't see this, right?" Looking back at the camera, he continued. "Anyways, I'm thankful for my members because they are the ones who love my music the most. Because of that, I feel no pressure in creating, only joy."
The cheers from the crowd washed over Woozi as he performed with his members.
'There is something so special about seeing people enjoy your group's music. And it is even more special knowing you created it."
a/n: wahhh first hit the road ep done! it was def a journey, trying to combine cyana into the episode and also keeping it woozi-centered. I tried following the format of the og youtube docu- lmk how it was! these instalments might be on the shorter side just cause the docus are pretty short themselves (・â˘Ě︿â˘Ě・)

I'm trying to catch up with all the BL news I missed (which apparently was quite a lot) so I thought I'd make a quick post about it to put my thoughts in order:
youtube
First up is the trailer for The Renovation, a two-episode series about a writer, Pee, who turns his blossoming romance with holiday resort owner Arthit into the plot for his new novel (which goes over about exactly as well as you might expect). This drops on 14 & 21 December on One31 (so no official inter release yet).
youtube
Then there's a teaser for Rearrange, a high school band BL with a time travel twist and a what looks to be a GL side couple. And apparently the bad boy bassist and the nerdy drummer get together too which is exactly how things should be.
Next up, Boxer the Series (which is not the same as Boxer in Heart - another BL that was quietly cancelled in pre-production) have announced their cast with some familiar faces: Time Obnithi (The Whisperer, Bad Guy My Boss), Team Tatchanon (Twins), David Matthew Roberts (The Hidden Moon), Beboy Nanthakorn (who hopefully finally escaped from 9NAA) & Guide Piyawat (will be in The Hell Guard).
2025 might finally be the year of Muay Thai BL. đ¤
I have no idea if Hidden is a BL but it stars Tong Thanayut (as Kris) and it will release on youtube on 3 December. The plot certainly sounds intriguing (and messy):
On the night of Ten's birthday party, Ten, Kris, Pheem, and Prao find out about someone hiring Korn to secretly take pictures of Pheem. To figure out the truth, Kris and Pheem decide to hire Korn to take pictures at Ten's birthday party.
Director Golf Tanwarin's next series Love Like a Bike will apparently be exactly that: lots of couples and lots of bikes - and I most definitely appreciate it.
The series will star Masu Junyangdikul (who's kind of a big deal but it's his first BL role afaik) and Tee Thanapon (2 Moons, Triage), Win Thanat and Danny Luciano (The Loyal Pin), and Ta Nannakun (Kinnporsche, DFF) and Nanon Ruangdet (I love how everyone just copied the hashtags and I had to go on a whole google journey to find out their names).
The series is set around Nueng, a psychiatrist (a psychiatrist? in my BL??), and Sailom, a student suffering from a fear of being touched (played by Masu & Tee).
And then finally there's Eyes on You, a co-production between Hong Kong and Thailand (but filmed in Bangkok with a Thai cast) whose pilot will be unveiled on 27 November.
The plot summary on MDL sounds amazing tbh:
Two years ago, Just abandoned his law studies and severed ties with Rule to uncover the truth behind his parents' murder. Two years later, Rule, now a lawyer and still haunted by Just's disappearance, finally tracks him down to a seedy Gogo Bar, only to find him embroiled in a deadly feud with the Kung gang. But Just isn't alone. The bar is a haven for those consumed by vengeance: Salt, the security guard who always has a bloody smell, the runaway teen Tiger, and Ice, the ruthless madam running sexual business for the gang. Each carries the scent of violence, a simmering powder keg waiting to explode. Are you ready to descend into their dark, bloody, and tear-soaked path to retribution?
And that's it - except for the ThamePo trailer which everyone but me has already watched (I'll get to it right after posting this).
#bl news#upcoming bl#thai bl#renovation the series#rearrange the series#boxer the series#love like a bike#hidden the series#eyes on you the series#jane watches stuff#ok this post is longer than anticipated#apparently all the bl news dropped while i was gone for 2 1/2 days#maybe they all wanted to announce their projects before the gmmtv line-up

hi, I hope you are well!
i have a askk
what about Genshin Impact characters with a fem!reader who has powers similar to Gojo Satoru?
Hey! Sorry for the late delivery đ
You didn't specify which characters you wanted so I just put the ones I thought fit on my proposal đ
Characters: Wanderer (Scaramouche), Lisa, Diluc, Xiao, Thoma, Lumine/Aether (both travelers).
Content: It can be interpreted as platonic or romantic, some swear words perhaps, mention of violence typical of the Jujutsu Kaisen canon, reader is gn but more like male because Gojo is a man.
Comments and reblogs are very welcome âĄ
[Name] was a complex individual. He/She came to Teyvat along with the traveler, apparently being from a noble family from his/her and the traveler's original world. Yet, his/her incredibly strong strength and abilities coupled with his/her arrogant personality make the residents of Teyvat confused.
"What the f*ck are you doing?" Wanderer, or Scara, as you call him against his will, while you two were on a mission, looking for mint for the traveler.
"Can't you see? Water fall! Hehe~" you laughed foolishly as your technique prevented the water from reaching you, making a small waterfall above your head.
Scara let out a sound similar to a grunt mixed with a deep sigh.
"Why in the world traveler just have to put me with you?"
âOh, stop complaining. I bet youâre secretly having fun.â
âHaving fun? What in Teyvat makes you think thatâs fun?â Scara narrowed his eyes at [Name], clearly exasperated.
âWell, youâre still here, arenât you? If you really wanted to leave, you would have found a way by now.â
For a moment, the Wanderer was silent, his prepared response dying in his throat. He stared at the waterfall, and as much as he wanted to deny it, there was something... comforting about the scene. Something so simple, yet so absurdly peaceful that he couldn't help but let his guard down a little. He looked away, sulking.
"You're insufferable." he finally muttered, though his voice sounded less sharp.
"That sounds like a compliment coming from you!" [Name] replied with a wink.
Scara gave him a long, sharp look. "If you don't find the mint in ten minutes, I'll throw you under the waterfall for real."
The traveler was worried that you would end up killing each other. Surprisingly, you are always cursing each other but you have never gotten physical.
Perhaps it helped that the traveler made it clear to the Wanderer that you were the strongest in your world. Scara is not stupid, he doesn't pick fights with the stronger ones. Yet, he learned a lot about the kind of person you are.
"I'd like to find those artifact books before the traveler gets mad at me. I mean, Lumine/Aether can even cry!" [Name] said with an overly dramatic air, leaning forward slightly as she stared at Jean.
Jean just shook her head and sighed. Despite everything, a slight smile played at the corners of her lips, evidence that she did, in fact, find [Name]'s antics amusing.
"You never miss a chance to put on a show, do you?" Jean commented.
At the top of the stairs, Lisa watched the exchange with a mix of amusement and curiosity.
Leaning against the banister, she looks at [Name]. âHmm, if I were crying, would you comfort me? Honestly, I would love that.â
[Name] looked up at Lisa, eyes shining with provocation. âAh, Lisa, but you never cry! Youâre too strong for that.â
âAha, really?â Lisa smiled and laughed softly.
When Traveler asked if you really thought Lisa was that strong or were joking, you just shrugged.
Honestly, Lisa could be really strong!... or it could be pure flattery too, who knows?
âWhat kind of bartender doesnât like alcohol?â [Name] asked, arching an eyebrow as watched Diluc with a wry smile, fiddling with the dessert glass you had just finished devouring.
Diluc paused for a moment, the cloth falling onto the counter with a restrained sigh. He stared at [Name] with an expression that was on the edge of patience, his eyes narrowed. "I don't think you're the ideal person to judge me," Diluc retorted, his fingers touching the glass gently. "Being the psychotic for sweets that you are, I mean."
You made a dramatic movement of placing your hand over your chest, simulating an expression of exaggerated offense.
"Aaah, but that has nothing to do with it! I don't own a wine cellar!" You replied, turning your face away.
"If I work as a gravedigger, do I need to be buried?" Diluc said dryly, placing the glass back on the shelf with precision.
"That doesn't even make sense!" [Name] exclaimed, shrugging. "You're just making things up because you have no arguments." the sarcasm was clear in your voice, but there was also a subtle glint in your eyes that suggested you was enjoying the exchange.
Diluc let out a sigh, looking more tired than irritated.
"Tell me, [Name], why exactly is someone who clearly doesn't enjoy alcohol here in my wine cellar, filling my counter with candy crumbs?" he asked, taking a step towards the counter to organize the bottles with meticulous precision.
[Name] made a dramatic gesture with the hands, smiling teasingly. "Oh, it's nothing. I just like looking at your face and your red hair~"
Diluc huffed, crossing his arms and glaring at [Name] with a mixture of irritation and resignation. â[Name], donât you have anything better to do than break into my wine cellar and distract me while I work?â he asked, his tone exasperated but low enough not to draw the attention of his employees.
âNo, actually, I donât,â [Name] replied, with a mischievous smile that contrasted with Dilucâs scowl. âBesides, you have to admit that company does lighten the mood of this place. Itâs so⌠melancholy. It seems like someone here is carrying a lot of grief.â
Dilucâs eyes narrowed, but he didnât bite at the provocation. He slung the cloth over his shoulder and grabbed a fresh bottle of wine to organize the shelves, turning his attention back to his work. âIf you think this place is gloomy, maybe you shouldnât be here. Iâm sure Jean or Albedo would love to hear your unnecessary comments elsewhere.â
âBut neither of them have that hair,â [Name] replied, plucking an imaginary strand out of the air and twirling his fingers theatrically. âYou know, you could use a little more lightheartedness. Maybe I should bring you some sweets next time. Something that matches your hidden charm.â
âI donât need a lightheartedness, and certainly not your sweets scattered all over the counter,â Diluc retorted, finally turning to face him. âWhy are you really here, [Name]? It canât be just to tease me.â
[Name]âs expression changed for a moment, the playful smile softening. âMaybe I enjoy your company, Diluc. Itâs refreshing to see someone so⌠genuine. No matter how grumpy they are.â
Diluc was silent for a few seconds, his red eyes fixed on the you. He sighed, as if admitting a silent defeat, and went back to work. "Do whatever you want. Just don't leave any more crumbs on my counter."
[Name] laughed, leaning forward to support him with her elbows. "I knew that deep down you like me, redhead. You just don't know how to admit it."
"In your dreams..." Diluc replied, but the corner of his mouth almost threatened to form a smile.
You're honestly annoying. But he likes you. But he doesn't admit it.
"You really don't talk much, do you?" [Name] commented, leaning forward a little. "But that's okay, I'm good enough for two." Your voice was filled with a confidence that didn't go unnoticed.
"I'm also the type who doesn't have the patience for a long silence. In my world, being the strongest is something that comes naturally. No one dares to doubt that, and I can assure you that my power is something... unquestionable."
âYou talk too much.â Xiao finally replied, his voice low and somewhat harsh, as natural of his voice. âAnd yet⌠you have no idea what it means to truly carry the weight of eternity.â He pause. âI am a Yaksha, you know. We are more than just strength.â
"You have this aura of mystery, this... silence one. I'm very good at noticing details. And you, my friend, are full of them." You say, your tone naturally laden with arrogance, but Xiao sharpens his eyes.
"Very presumptuous for someone young." Xiao says, but shakes his head in the end.
It may not seem like it, but he is not bothered by your presence.
You tend to talk a lot, he honestly doesn't mind. It may seem like he's not listening, but he is.
He cares about you. Even though you keep saying that you are the strongest in your world. He wasn't around to see your displays of power, so he doesn't believe it.
He knows your arrogance will get you into trouble. That's why he's always around.
âThoma, itâs been a while!â [Name] exclaimed with a wide smile, your eyes shining with amusement as you saw Thomaâs blond head in the distance at the shop where the Kamisato Clanâs caretaker was buying some items for the day.
Your voice echoed through the street, carrying an unmistakable confidence, as if you had just met an old friend after a long period of absence.
Thoma, who had been distracted by picking out some ingredients for dinner, looked up quickly, immediately recognizing [Name]âs presence. He smiled back, his expression friendly and relaxed, his eyes sparkling with a hint of humor.
âOh, ah! [Name]!â he exclaimed, raising one of his hands in greeting. He took a step towards [Name], with his usual welcoming smile.
"How have you been, Thoma?" [Name] asked with a mischievous smile. "Continuing your mission to solve all the problems in Inazuma, as always?"
Thoma, for his part, chuckled softly, leaning forward slightly, his eyes shining with amusement. âI try. But what about you? Howâs life in Teyvat? Still enjoying your⌠âgamesâ?â Thomaâs tone was friendly, in no rush to get serious about any conversation, but it was also a bit teasing. He knew [Name] had a tendency to make fun of situations and people, though he could also tell that behind that arrogance was something else, something more human.
âAh, you know⌠Life is much more interesting when you can joke around with others. I canât help but be amused by the situations you and your Kamisato Clan get yourselves into.â
Thoma laughed, his smile now wider, he had grown accustomed to this dynamic of teasing and teasing between them. "I know, I know. But if you need help with any problems, you know where to find me."
"I know," [Name] replied, smile turning into a more relaxed expression, but still with a glint of mischief in the eyes. "I just hope you don't get into too much trouble with your duties. I don't want you to be too busy to help me when I need it."
You two act like you've known each other for ages. It honestly surprises everyone around.
Thoma cares about you just like Xiao does, but he personally believes that you are capable of handling yourself even without ever seeing your displays of power.
You've known each other for a long time. A really long time. Like, since birth.
Aether knows you like the back of his hand. Your family has always been rich and famous in the world you came from, your clan being the largest. Yet, you know the twins by literally sneaking them into your house.
"Come on, come up!" A child [Name] insists at the small window of your room. Aether was crouched on the lawn and whimpered.
"I canât do it! It's too high!" Aether says.
"Ugh, you crybaby!" [Name] grumbles.
You then start to rummage through your room looking for something. You grab a stool, quickly climbing onto it and leaning against the window. "Give me your hand."
"U-Uhh, but what if I fall??" Aether says hesitantly.
"Hurry up!"
Even though he was scared, Aether closed his eyes tightly and grabbed [Name]'s hand.
"I won't let go. I'll never let go." [Name]'s words made Aether open his eyes, seeing those deep vibrant blue eyes, and a smile. Not malicious like usual, but honest. "See? You don't have to be afraid of anything."
You didn't really let go of him. You never let go of him.
And he couldn't be happier about it.
You two will find Lumine. And you all will go home, together.
âTsk, this is ridiculous.â [Name]âs voice was cold, but filled with a quiet anger that made even Lumine feel uncomfortable.
You had always been the type of person to keep himself in control, but when your emotions boiled over, it was clear how unpredictable you could be. Lumine watched as your made impatient gestures, she can count on one hand the times she's seen you so upset.
âThat fatui trash thinks he can mess with you? Good news, he CANNOT,â [Name] continued, voice a bit louder than usual, revealing a fierce anger that rarely displayed.
You was referring to Tartaglia, who had tried to approach Lumine with a sly smile, his intentions veiled, as always. Lumine didnât respond right away.
She leaned forward a little, looking at him with a surprised expression.
âWhy are you so upset about this?â she asked.
âBecause no one has the right to treat you that way,â you said, still carrying an inner strength that could not be ignored. âI will not allow some piece of weak trash to think he can do whatever he wants.â
âYou really need to stop getting so angry over that small thing.â Lumine says, but quickly shakes her head. "I can take care of myself, you know."
âI know you can defend yourself, Lumine, but sometimes the world needs to remember whoâs really in control.â [Nome] spoke with renewed confidence, but this time it was more of a statement than a threat.
"You don't have to worry, [Name]. I can take care of myself." Lumine said in a soft but firm tone.
[Name] watched her for a moment, and for a brief second, the gaze softened. "I know, Lumine. I know." You finally murmured.
Like, yeah. No one messes with the ones you care about.

McGonagall's no-sleeping policy - a wolfstar microfic
@wolfstarmicrofic - November 20: Transfiguration Classroom - Words: 607
âYou need to eat,â Sirius growls through gritted teeth.
âI am eatingâ, Remus snaps back, stirring his scrambled eggs around on his plate with one hand and leaning his head heavily in the other.
âIf you are too tired to eat you should have stayed in bed.â
âI said, I am eating!â
Sirius forces himself to take a deep breath. He doesnât want to fight with Remus. Especially not the day after a moon night. But the wanker is being impossible.
They sit in stubborn silence until they have to leave for class. Remus may have put a few bites in his mouth, but his plate can still be considered full when he pulls himself up to standing with a lot more grunting and hissing than Sirius thinks is acceptable for someone set on taking on a full school day.
They take their seats in the Transfigurations classroom, Sirius and James on either side of Remus.
There are a few minutes before class starts and Remus lays his head down on the table in front of him and closes his eyes.
âI donât know how Madam Pomfrey let you outâ, Sirius grumbles.
âIâm fine.â Remus mumbles without opening his eyes. âBesides, there are exams coming up soon.â
When Professor McGonagall walks in, Remus immediately sits up straight. Sirius doesnât miss the surprised and slightly disapproving glance she shoots their way, though. Surely, she too thinks he should be in bed.
Todays lesson is fur, scales and feathers. Before Professor McGonagall has got the snake out, the she intends to transform into a swan, they hear Remus stomach rumble.
James sticks him a piece of toast he apparently brought from breakfast. Sirius wishes he had thought of that.
âNo,â Remus whispers, âyou know McGonagall has a strict no-eating policy.â
James rolls his eyes. Remus' stomach rumbles again. He sighs and accepts the toast. As he takes a small bite McGonagall turns towards them and they all freeze. With a minuscule press of the lips, she pointedly looks the other away and continues her lecture.
Sirius has seldom been so thankful to a teacher. He should be thankful to James too, he supposes, who thought of bringing not only the toast but apparently a boiled egg and two slices of bacon too. He is thankful. Itâs just that Remus would have never accepted it from Sirius that stings. Why canât Remus see how much he cares?
Remus as discreetly as he can licks the crumbs off his fingers and wipes his mouth. Sirius tries to pay attention to how the wand movements can affect the thickness of the fur and not think about how much he and Remus have argued lately. If itâs not Remus being absurd in his refusal to accept help it is him insisting Sirius do something boringly wise and sensible. As Sirius watches the snake turn white and sprout a beautiful plumage he gets hit by a clichĂŠd sudden realisation. Those arguments can just as easily be called Sirius refusing help and Sirius wanting Remus to do something he knew is sensible but still for some reason doesnât want to. Thinking about it that way, Remus seems to care a great deal, after all.
A sudden thud on Sirius' shoulder jolts him. Remus' head. He smiles as he sees Remus' face relaxed in sleep and carefully brings an arm around his back to hold him steady. He bets McGonagall would even allow sleeping in her classroom on this one occasion. If not, Sirius is fully prepared to use whatever charm or threats or bargains he can to not have to wake him up just yet.

Thanks for the tag!! Hmm silly lore tidbits
1. When I was younger my mom took me to a psychologist apparently because I was bad at social interaction and I ended up going to some counselor thing?? Weekly for a while and I donât even remember what the actual goal was I just remember sheâd show me videos, ask me âwhat does this character feel?â And ask me to emulate the facial expression of that emotion LMAOO (I rarely did it because I thought it was embarrassing)
2. I have a large scar on my left calf because of a mosquito bite I got as a child that swelled up a really large size (might be post inflammatory hyperpigmentation cuz some tiny mosquito bites I for a few months ago also left dark spots on my skin)
3. I took piano lessons for at least 6 years as a kid before I quit at 12/13 years old but Iâm only officially ABRSM grade 2. I never took it seriously haha and especially during the later years Iâd just chat with the teacher half the lesson and ask her about interesting medical cases (which she somehow knew about for some reason) partly out of genuine curiosity and partly to avoid playing the piano for as long as possible
4. I was a very late walker! My parents had to hold my hands on either side to keep me upright to walk into kindergarten interviews because I couldnât actually walk properly myself lol
Tagging mutuals (we actually have a lot of the same mutuals đđ) (do it only if you wanna haha no pressure) @irunaki @milwkwyxd @lankanweirdo @honest-khmyh @sevensees7
it's so weird to me that everyone on this website is a human person outside of their weird internet niche so rb this with a random bit of your lore

later, then | i. rin
⎠tags ; gn!reader, pre-relationship, tooth-rotting fluff, rin in his actor era, assisstant!reader. this is sfw but i am an 18+ blog so minors do not follow me lol.
⎠wc ; 1.4k
⎠a/n ; a comm for @rabbbitseason that i had to rewrite a couple of times. i rlly liked being able to write something like this. i hope u like the direction i ended up going in sdjksdj
⎠synopsis ; on his last day of filming rin tried to keep you out of his thoughts.
"Rin-kun,"
He knows your voice well enough to know it's you before he even opens his eyes. "Hn,"
"We'll be shooting your scenes next," You say, tapping his shoulder lightly. "They told me to wake you up."
It's not like Rin to fall asleep on a set somewhere, no matter how tired he is. He's usually the type to push through it no matter what. It's petty, but it feels like he's lost otherwise.
He was exhausted before hand though. Months of shooting and he still can't get used to his schedule.
He's here from a morning flight from France that he took all the way back home to Japan. After he arrived, he immediately hailed a cab and busted ass to get here on time. He would normally rest on his journey but found he couldn't bring himself to actually fall asleep.
Professor Heartbreak is a Japanese TV drama (airing domestically lived and internationally on Netflix) and Rin's first acting role. The series follows a romance between a graduate student caught in a lot of debt and her relationship to one of her pupils, college student and heir to mega corporation.
Rin has never had any interest in acting, and had even less interest in acting in a romance drama. His manager however urged (read: forced) him to take the offer, emphasizing how good it would be for his public image among other things. Of course, Rin still declined but no matter what he did - he couldn't actually seem to get out of doing it.
He's off-season now though he started filming during. He can say with confidence there's nothing he likes about the job. No matter how much his manager or director insists that all he needs is to have a pretty face - there's still a level of annoying obligation he feels towards doing it.
The reception was more positive then they were expecting. Apparently Rin is a half-decent actor. He's not playing a character he feels is so different from him, if not much more cringe.
Rin plays the love interest Yukio. Not very expressive and rich with a tendency to chase what he wants. Generally aggressive about the female love interest.
It doesn't suit him and he doubts he'll do it again. But a lot went into getting the role. If he's going to do it at all, he might as well do it well.
Rin hates shit that's half-assed after all, lukewarm acting doesn't suit him.
Today is the last day of shooting and happens to be one of the last scenes. Shooting is sometimes chronological, but not always. Regardless, after today it'll be the last time Rin steps foot on this set. No more long nights, or trying to memorize lines, no more out of place press runs. The practice season will start again and he can go back to the busy he's been used to since the debut of his soccer career.
That also means it'll be the last time you and Rin spend time in the same room. It's the first thing he thinks of when you wake him.
Rin sits up and carefully rubs his eye, careful not to disturb the makeup he wears for set.
"When the fuck did I sleep?"
You laugh under your breath, handing him a water bottle like you already knew he would want one. He takes it from you and takes a long drink trying to wake himself up.
"Been a little over an hour. Hour and a half, maybe. Did you sleep okay?"
He scowls, just slightly. "It was fine."
"I'm glad you slept well," You add, voice full of mirth and amusement as you read between the lines said all too easily.
He was moody when he came on set with you, worse then normal and refused to sleep. You suggested he rest his eyes and Rin scoffed at you for thinking he's so stupid. He's not a kid you can trick into going to sleepy.
You conceded easily, made a single sly comment about hoping he's all there when it's his turn. It'd be a shame if he had to keep shooting the same scene and ended up home late after all. Enough of a provocation to submit to your stupid suggestion.
Rin supposes this was why his manager hired you in the first place. You're in a temporary position, your contract to be in place until filming is over and Rin's back on normal scheduling. Rin realized pretty early on that you're more like a glorified babysitter then an assistant which is why he didn't have very pleasant expectations of you at the start.
But you're competent. Push without pushing too far. Clever even when it's annoying. You've known each other for a year and the only thing that binds you is work but you're with him all the time. Maybe it's just the job, but it still feels like you know him better then most.
Not like he cares.
Realizing he was tired enough to sleep and goading him into doing it are two separate things though. But you've managed both pretty easily which he can admit is a feat. You're always like that. You remind him a little of another annoying striker in that way.
A quiet settles between you. Rin gropes around for his phone, checking his messages and the time. Still a few hours until the set wraps and no doubt social obligations afterwards. He groans.
"I'm going home after we're done shooting,"
"You can't," You say, apologetic. "Manager says you have to show your face during the after party."
"That doesn't make any fucking sense."
"You're the main male love interest, you should at least drop in for a little bit. Have a beer, unwind."
"I don't like drinking,"
"A soda then. Don't be so stubborn."
Rin huffs, carefully pushing a hand through his hair careful not to mess up the styling. There's a beat of silence.
"Are you going?"
"To the drinking party?"
Rin looks at you as if to ask isn't it obvious. You just chuckle.
"Why?" You tease. "Will you stay longer if I go?"
Rin pauses. And it's quiet for just a second too long before he realizes. You seem to understand the implication almost instantly.
Even before Rin who catches himself just a second too late.
"...I don't mind staying with you until you've filled your quota. If that's what you're asking." You supply.
Rin frowns, faint warmth creeping his neck. "Then do that."
You fight back a smile. "Sure, sure. What time were you thinking of leaving?"
"As soon as possible," He says bluntly. You laugh that time. Brightly. Sincerely.
"Seems like a waste. You can handle fifteen minutes without me, right? Doesn't feel like I need to go if we're gonna part ways so soon anyhow."
Rin pouts. A petulant, ugly feeling in him. He speaks without thinking. "You're saying it like we're never gonna see each other again,"
You both catch it.
"Are we?" You're grinning at him where you stand next to him, eyes cast down to look at his face. He fights off a blush but fails to keep from turning red. Fuck. "Seeing each other again, I mean."
He doesn't know what it is exactly that makes him answer the way he does.. "No shit."
You grin, beam really - and your fingers brush his hand on the couch. Rin jolts, clearly in deeper than he thought.
"Okay. Then let's go together and get something to eat after," You say, coy. "Since we're seeing each other again,"
Rin rubs a hand on the nape of his neck.
"Shut up. Fine. Whatever,"
You laugh again no longer hiding it. He hands his water bottle to you as he gets called onto set. Standing to his feet, he takes a breather to stretch out all his limbs.
You give him a mischievous smile, staring at him openly when something seems to strike you. Like you've just realized something.
"Rin-kun. Bend down a little. I need to tell you something."
Confused but not concerned, he complies without thinking.
You place your copy of the script strategically to obscure both your faces, and in a single split second - Rin feels something soft and warm press against his cheek followed by another giggle like a bell chime. He flusters, instantly scowling and tomato-faced and nearly cussing as you look so self-satisfied.
(Warm. So warm where you linger on his skin. Hot where you've touched him despite how brief.)
"For good luck. I'll see you later then. Knock 'em dead, okay?"
He curses under his breath before they call him one more time and he watches you disappear to go do the other half of your job. He puts his hand to his cheek and takes a breath.
Stupid. He closes his eyes and buries the explosion of feeling in him as he replies to no one in particular.
"Idiot."

niviiiiii where you at my love??? need your game recap and your crashout over ur wifey being back on the court!!
48 hours later, and now that I can remember the game for more than just Azzi because really that's all I could think about on the actual day, I do have actual game thoughts:
Thank god I had that cloud of happiness about Azzi coming back because if I didn't, I think that game might have actually killed my soul because quite frankly, I didn't think that game was great by any stretch. And listen I love my alums, I love seeing them, love their support etc. etc. but please for the love of god, they can never come to a game against a real opponent and they needa stay so far away from the team during March/April.
The one thing I did enjoy: SARAH FUCKING STRONG. She was just so good and she really just does everything on the court at such a high level. AND THE THREES ARE FALLING! Like everyone should be really scared because Sarah is the real fucking deal.
Thank god Paige lowkey had a good second half because if she'd kept playing the way the she did that first half, the discourse would've been unbearable and I wouldn't have even stepped into defend her like girlie was doing her best *not* to beat the allegation from ND last year. But as always, when she wasn't contributing scoring wise, Paige did everything else. Grandpa should've let her get that double-double.
I like that Ice seems to be becoming consistent with what she does
Thank god for KC in the first half! That's that veteran experience bleeding through where despite the rims apparently being closed for UConn, she found a way. Hopefully that translates to a higher ranked opponent.
We need more from Ash but I do like that she's being aggressive
JANA GIRL LAYUPS!! Please for the love of god truly nothing irritates me more and I'm assuming by the looks he was giving her, Geno's gonna get on her ass about it.
KK continues to give us that spark off the bench but she's still making some freshman mistakes.
Speaking of sparks, Morgan has a definitive impact that won't show up on the box score, but you see it when she steps on the floor every game.
Allie baby I fear you're gonna have to wait your turn and that might not be till next year
AND FINALLY AZZI FUDD!! Man I was just so happy to see my girl so happy to play and she could've score 0 points and I would've felt like she'd scored 50. Gonna add another anon here because I think they captured it pretty well:
Like obviously she didn't do anything otherwordly but immediately you can tell she's moving well and the fact that she was willing to make shot after missing is a great read on her new mentality. AND THE DEFENSE. I remember Azzi saying that's what she took most pride in, in HS, so if we can get that defensive minded Azzi + her shots start falling, well...Geno might faint out of love for her lol.
Overall with opponents like this, it's all about how you beat them and we didn't do it particularly beautifully but like I've been saying, this is a young team and it's early days. I think the Bahama's will be a great test for them and especially if they get Ole Miss, I think we're gonna learn a lot.

I do recommend people take this test, it's a riot.
But like, it's not a study. (The site linked above appears to be yet another waste-of-space Amazon-affiliate-advertising content aggregator grift, which talks a big game about Creative Commons but why would I want to repurpose any of this material in the first place? The only original content I can see here is obviously-AI-generated thumbnails for the art, which look like dogshit. The original results post for the test is a much better read.)
The way the test is designed is like this. Images were roughly balanced by art style: so of all the digital-art pieces, 50% are human, 50% are AI, same for the renaissance paintings, same for the impressionist stuff, same for abstract. Except, obviously, the human pictures have been selected to exhibit stereotypical signs of AI-ness: overdetail, odd scaling, incorrect proportions, random meaningless shapes, illegible text. Meanwhile, the AI stuff has been filtered to avoid anything that had obvious tells to a layman's eye, like fucked-up hands or whatever.
So it's basically a game of like... whatever your gut instinct tells you the image's provenance is, it's probably the opposite.
When you filter out the human works, and look at the provenance of solely the AI pictures (as given in the results post), that's when you find out what this test is actually indicative of. The pieces were mostly generated by two ACX readers, Ryan Wise and Jack Galler. I remember spotting every single one of Ryan's images, without fail. Meanwhile, nearly all of Jack's images fooled me. (There were also a handful of other AI images taken from social media or whatever, which again, I easily pegged as being AI-generated, they're pure slop.)
I'll actually go so far as to say that it's pretty embarrassing for Ryan that he thought these images were good enough to share. Wall-eyed figures whose clothes blend into flesh, abstract shapes with eerily-lifelike inhuman faces leering out of the picture, inconsistent details... but most of all, a sense that the prompts themselves were bereft of any creativity. "robot skeleton abstract painting", "woman in field impressionist". Come on man. AI is the ultimate tool for ideas-guys, and yet here you are without a single idea to show for yourself.
Ryan was apparently using StableDiffusion. Meanwhile, here's Jack talking about his process:
I just used Midjourney. Most of the prompts were just describing some generic impressionist scene. I've never had an art history class (but I am an art history fan!), so I worked with ChatGPT to identify key trends of say, Impressionism, so I could prompt better. I generated a lot of each one ,and just used my subjective opinion to decide what looked good and what didn't. The Paris Scene (which fooled the most people) had this prompt: "Impressionist painting of a bustling Parisian street under the soft rain, 1881" The Riverside Cafe (which people liked the most) had this prompt: "Impressionist painting of a countryside cafĂŠ terrace during twilight, 1883"
It seems that specifying a year in particular was what helped Midjourney hone in on these historical styles in a convincing way. Jack's method obviously involved a huge amount of cherry-pickingâwhich I would argue is another huge element of human intervention, if only in a sense of curation. A version of this test I would like to see would be one where both different AI models and a range of talented artists were given the same prompt. What if it was one-shot, with just a single generation, no cherry-picking? Except of course an AI can generate thousands of paintings in the time it takes a human to do just one, so what would that even prove?
This test reminded me of a piece I saw on deviantART a long time ago, of this ruined fantasy castle in a cave. Pretty cool! But then you look at it a bit longer, and it's like- hang on, why is that human skull the size of the collapsed turret lying next to it? It's exactly the kind of nonsensical composition you see in AI, except no, it's just a digital artist using photoshop and they fucked it. I kind of feel like this is where the state-of-the-art of AI image generation is right now; about as good as a guy bashing together stock assets in photoshop, which is to say maybe good enough to get an idea across, even if it can't actually stand on its own two legs as a piece of art.
So yeah, from a cynical perspective, I'd find it hard to argue that Jack's generations aren't "good enough" for many applications. I don't know that I'd hang any of them in a gallery. The longer I look at them, the less I like them. But they've got the right vibes.
So a more accurate headline for that BOING BOING article might be, "AI art haters unknowingly prefer AI-generated works by Jack Galler, according to test".
If there's one thing I'll be taking away from this post, that's helped me better understand my own feelings on AI art, it's this analogy from digital artist Ilzo, quoted in the results analysis:
Imagine if everyone got the ability to create mostly nutritional adequate meals for like five cents, but they all were mediocre rehydrated powder with way too much sucralose or artificial grape flavor or such. And your friends start inviting you over to dinner parties way more often because it's so easy to deal with food now, but practically every time, they serve you sucralose protein shake. (Maybe they do so because they were used to almost never eating food? This isn't a perfect analogy.) Furthermore, imagine people calling this the future of food and saying chefs are obsolete. You'd probably be like "wow, I'm happy that you have easy access to food you enjoy, and it is convenient for me to use sometimes, but this is kind of driving me crazy".
Last month, over 11,000 people took Astral Codex Ten's survey to see if they could they tell the difference between 50 human-made art and AI-generated images. The results were humbling for humans, especially ones who professed a loathing for AI art.
Most participants stumbled through the test, scoring just 60% â barely better than flipping a coin. What tripped them up? Our preconceptions about art styles, it turns out, are deeply ingrained. When people saw classic Impressionist paintings, they confidently declared them human-made (and were often wrong). When they encountered digital art, they quickly labeled it as AI (and were frequently mistaken).
Perhaps the most ironic finding was about people who claimed to despise AI art. When these AI critics picked their favorite pieces without knowing their origin, they consistently chose AI-generated works. Even among those who rated their hatred of AI art at maximum levels, their top two favorite pieces were created by machines.

Ok, so I can't stop thinking about Viktor in Arcane lmao
Not so much because I like him (which I do lmao) but more because his arc seems like convoluted mess of knots at first glance, and I don't understand it completely and I need to put this puzzle together
Also, honestly Arcane it's the perfect case for why "show, don't tell" isn't always good as it left a lot of things incredibly vague, things I think they should've stopped and clarify more
So let me take his character apart from the beginning to understand him
Spoilers btw
First I want to talk about Viktor's disability because apparently it was a big deal
I say apparently because at first I thought it wasn't a big deal for Viktor, it was just part of who he was
Like the first time we see him, he's confident, he seems secure in himself and the show itself doesn't seem to make a big deal out of him using his cane
But turns out that getting rid of his disability it was actually a big deal for Viktor and I want to search for an explanation that isn't that the writers probably had a subconscious bias about disability
Tbh I always thought that it was kind of implied that Viktor's disability was a result of his parents being exposed to dangerous chemicals in Zaun, like it wasn't just his sickness that was a result of being born in Zaun, but also his leg, don't know if it's just me but anyway the author is dead moving on
I'm saying this because it would make sense at least for Viktor to think that way. Because in his mind it's his disability = his sickness = the problems in Zaun. These three things aren't different for him, is one and the same problem that needs to be solved
This is also shown when Viktor is experimenting in himself with the Hexcore and instead of doing something that might help him idk stop coughing blood, the first thing he does is trying to undo his disability. And I've seen some people ask why the hell is Viktor more worried about his disability than the thing that's actually killing him. It's because in Viktor's mind is the same thing
Now, we can actually see hints that Viktor might resent his disability (and Zaun by extension) in the boat scene when he's a child, where even though his genius is great, his disability stops him from reaching the boat, from reaching his full potential (at least in Viktor's mind)
He resents not being able to be who he wants, who he could be if he had been born in Piltover and puts the blame on his disability and Zaun
This actually makes sense with later scenes when Viktor and Jayce show off what they've been working on to Heimmerdinger, the gauntlets and the claw (arm?). If Viktor and Jayce were working on these two things separately, very telling that Viktor's project (the claw) focuses on artisans, who are still "a step above" than the miners Jayce is focusing on. But if they're working together on the projects, we see that Viktor actually doesn't really wants to help Zaun
Because, what are these? Gauntlets and a claw to make people work faster? These are the solutions Viktor (and Jayce) come up when confronted with Zaun's problems, not actually helping them attack the root of the the problem. Like Miners have to spent hours working in dangerous conditions that affect their health? Well, let's give them something so they can work faster. This is merely palliative care, not caring to actually solve the real problem
Which leads me to the next point, Viktor doesn't actually wants to help Zaun to become a better place, he wants to get rid of the Zaun of now and transform it in Piltover 2.0. In his mind this isn't about helping Zaun, but getting rid of the thing that caused his disability and sickness, metaphorically eliminating them both
We can see this in Viktor's commune
Because, Zaun, even when it looks dirty and dark, all in all doesn't look ugly, like any place where poor people live, it's also full of individuality and self expression, art that's fighting to exist. Compare it to Piltover's Art deco and art nouveau inspired architecture that while, yes, everything looks very beautiful, it also looks very same-y
Viktor's commune also looks very same-y and in a way a bit Piltover inspired. Contrast Viktor's commune to the alternative universe we see where things are better in Zaun, it looks brighter and cleaner, but it also didn't lose any of the self expression and individuality that Zaun has. Individuality that is lost in Viktor's perfect world
Because again, it wasn't about Zaun, or about helping people, it was about Viktor taking something, destroying it, and substituting it with something he believes to be perfect. Perfect without any kind of disabilities that might hold Viktor back (which isn't true but that's what Viktor believes)
This sentiment later comes back when he tries his glorious evolution
Now about Jayce
Part of why I didn't understand Viktor's characterization at first was because I wasn't seeing the whole, I was missing a crucial part of the puzzle, and that was Jayce
At first I thought that Viktor was only interested in Jayce because of his idea of Hextech. But no.
The first time Viktor and Jayce meet, Viktor seems only mildly interested in Jayce's idea, but not enough to actually do something to help him, he was there because he had a job to do, he had to make sure that Jayce was arrested, only that
It wasn't until the judgement that Viktor actually takes an interest in Jayce, but not because of his idea
Viktor was attracted by Jayce's willingness to defend what he thought was right even when everyone else went against him. His personality and fierceness was the thing that later made Viktor take another look at Jayce's investigation
Compare it to how Mel first approached Jayce
Mel and Viktor are very similar in that both want to make something perfect (Mel wants a perfect Piltover, Viktor wants a perfect Zaun and later a perfect world), but they have different motivations. Mel wants to make a perfect city so that she later can gift it to her mother and prove that she's worthy of her love and affection, and that she's worthy of being part of her family
So in the judgment, Mel first sees and is interested by Jayce's idea, because it's something that can get her closer to her goal of being back with her family. Later she's interested in the inventor
But with Viktor is the opposite, he first is interested in Jayce as a man, that's what later attracts him to his dream
(Side note It's also worth noting that I think Arcane takes away Jayce's role in LoL of being Viktor's rival and gives it to Mel. More than that, with both Mel and Viktor being mages and Mel's magic being the thing that stops Viktor during the first fight between him and Jayce. I think that if Mel was more powerful, or Viktor was less overpowered [what the fuck arcane's writers, he's literally a freaking God] she could've stopped him)
Now this is important because I truly don't think Viktor's characterization makes sense unless he genuinely likes/loves Jayce without ulterior motives
In the rest of the first season, we see how Viktor slowly self isolates, in part because Jayce is leaving him behind to be with Mel, so that leads to Viktor taking more and more risks in a bit of a self destructive way, and I think this is in part because Jayce isn't with him. He probably also thinks it's his sickness the thing that's making Jayce go away, that's why he's trying to hide it in the beginning but I'm not to sure about that lmao
This later causes Sky's death, and I think her death is very important for Viktor. Not because he actually feels something for her, but because it's something that makes him feel very guilty
Because, if in the first season Viktor's actions were motivated in part because Jayce went away, then why Viktor's first instinct is to go away in the second season?
It's because of the guilt
In Viktor's mind he not only killed Sky, he's now the thing that killed sky. That plus the fact of how Jayce's acted during the bridge, hating on the zaunites. He probably thinks that Jayce doesn't care about him anymore
When he says "it was affection that held us together" he probably didn't mean it in a "I don't care about you anymore" but more in a "you don't care about me anymore, and you probably shouldn't anyway because there's no reason for you to do so"
When he goes away and creates a cult in Zaun, it's because Viktor is trying to redeem himself and make their dream come true. Viktor's commune is his version of their dream, a little bubble of perfection in an imperfect world
Of course that's not what Jayce wanted or meant when he thought about their dream, but that's just how Viktor misinterpreted it
That's why he's so insistent that Jayce go to see him after he's back from the future, because their dream wouldn't be complete unless it was both of them in it
So when Jayce shoot him, Viktor didn't think that maybe what he was doing was wrong, or that maybe he was crossing a line he shouldn't. When Jayce shoot him, he took it as Jayce rejecting not only their dream, but also Viktor himself
So he was hurt, he was angry. And in his hurt, the first thing he did was trying to justify his emotions by logic. The problem wasn't that what Viktor wanted was wrong. The problem was those pesky emotions messed everything up and if he just could get rid of them then their dream would become true and truly perfect (and Jayce wouldn't reject him). So he needed to get rid of emotions it didn't matter if he hurt the entire world (and Jayce) in his path to do so, more than that it was justified in his mind
I see what Viktor did after Jayce shoot him as he basically saying "I was trying to do this in the nice way, but now I'm angry and I'll show you what I'm truly capable of"
Ironically, his speech about what motivates humanity's greatest good is also what makes them do their greatest evil applies to Viktor 100%, his affection for Jayce is the thing that motivates him to help and to hurt everyone else
I also think that Viktor knew he was in part taking away some of the free will of the people in the commune, he probably just thought it wasn't doing them any harm, just taking away their "disability"
Now, in the future, Viktor realized that perfection, getting rid of humanity's mistakes, and getting rid of his disability; wasn't what he truly wanted, the thing that he truly wanted was to not be alone, and to be worthy of love, and Jayce was the only one who didn't make Viktor feel alone. So when Jayce hugged Viktor and showed him what he saw, I actually think it was like Viktor of the future telling his past self "this is not what you want, this is a mistake"
I also don't think Viktor learned to accept his disabilities in the end; because a heartfelt speech about loving yourself isn't going to make you forget a life of prejudice just like that lmao
But I do think that in that moment when Jayce showed him the future, he recognized that what he was doing was a mistake and stopped
In the end he got what he truly wanted, which was not being alone, being loved, and to be with Jayce, even if their dream of making the world a better place didn't become true
I read somewhere that Viktor in the game was inspired by Doctor Doom, and Idk if that's true. But if I had to compare Arcane Viktor to somebody in Marvel, it would be the Scarlet Witch (here I am thinking about fanart of Viktor dressed as the Scarlet Witch lmao), an extremely powerful being that gets carried away by their emotions, and ends up doing horrible things with good intentions
Yeah, I understand him a bit better now lmao

In the one (1) Block Tales comic i've made so far, I drew the player as this R15 model Noob with modern day Roblox chat. Since blocktales can have four (4) players in a battle, I decided to draw the rest of the sqaud.
OBLIGATORY SEBASTIAN SOLICE
Drew him from memory
READ MORE ABOUT THESE BLOCK TALES CHARACTERS? down below
So you want to know more about these goobers hm?
[Player] (yes that's his name)
- Despite his very cheerful demeanor, he can make grudges extremely easy.
- He's the only one of the squad who talks in modern chat bubbles. Something must've went wrong when he time traveled.
- He still uses R15 because he didn't want to lose his elbows. He needs those to throw balls, Okay?!
- He may, possibly, be abusing the ghost Walker for meaningless- and legally dubious- means. He's not paying for a 777 tix card!
- Was the only who got to experience the later half demo 3. He was quite surprised to be in a hospital after defeating IT. His friends were hovering woriedly over his bed.
- Hatred was particularly strong in this one.
BaconBoy
- Brother of BaconGirl
- Quite a skitish boy, Easily scared. He did not like Telamon's manor ONE BIT!
- the time when his model type was added to Roblox left quite an impact on him. Why were people so mean?
- he forgot to change his scale before time traveling, so now he towers over most people they encounter. Now he's noticed even more and bumps his head on doors... Yay...
- He doesn't know a lot about Roblox before 2016. So the meaning of the swords their collecting is a bit lost on him. He can't help but be a bit fearful of them. The previous holders of the Icedagger and Venomshank seemed to be going insane. And his friends seen awfully attached to the swords they have collected. He hopes everything will end fine.
- FEAR is strong in this one
BaconGirl
- Sister of baconboy
- She can't handle being alone well. Being alone for a short time causes great feeling of solitude. She's always with atleast one of her friends.
- She's in charge of snack duty, she got the biggest bag after all. Someone low on HP? A burger is ready. Low on SP? the Bloxycola is already in your hand. Low on Tix? That's something she can't fix.
- She the only one of the group who realised they should be in the R6 model when they time traveled. She thought the rest also knew this, apparently not.
- The Icedagger is her FAVORITE weapon. Just focus a bit and heal EVERYONE? yes please! ####, She'd let this thing freeze her for less.
- She's a bit cold to the touch
- Solitude is strong in this one
Ann
- short for androgynous default (who is naming these children?)
- Very chaotic person
- They kill every enemy in their wake, be it bird, Mosquito, or zombie. Getting 0 xp does not bring them joy.
- Always has hard mode enable to get more Xp. This has absolutely backfired multiple times.
- They will come up for their friends, every good friend does that! Including when BaconBoy burgers contain pickles.
- Their a fan of the Venomshank. An AOE attack also afflicting poison is. the. best! The pretty flowers coming out of the enemies is a plus too.
- Greed is very strong in this one.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Thanks for reading that btw.
The drawings were made on my phone.

soulmate au wherein you start to see color as soon as you make eye contact with your soulmate, but lose the ability when they die
which is why gabriel is adamant emilie is still alive and savable because if she were really dead his vision would have reverted back to grayscale and he can still tell the difference between orchid and amethyst at a glance, thank you very much
fast forward to hawkmothâs defeat at the hands of the heroes and ladybugâs confirmation that thereâs nothing they can do for emilie and that she is, in fact, dead. but that doesnât make sense because gabriel can still see colors - can still see the blue sky the morning of her funeral, and the pink dress heâd chosen for her to be buried in, and the green grass as her casket descends into the ground
life goes on and the color never fades -
not like those few times it had when he still wore the miraculous
those had been some of the worst nights of his life. when the color of his sonâs hair had lost its golden hue and his assistantâs bright blue eyes looked grey (the fact those nights always coincided with nathalieâs weakest never crossed his mind, nor did the way everything around him seemed brighter whenever she took a deep, fortifying breath)
- and then one day adrien asks nathalie if she can see color, why isnât she with her soulmate?
âi donât know who they are.â
âhow can you not know?!â
âthere were a lot of people around when it happened.â she shrugs and then, at adrienâs incredulous expression, elaborates, âi was on a school trip to the musĂŠe dâorsay. one second everything was in black and white, and the next i could see color. it happened so fast i donât even know if he realized it was me he was looking at. and by the time iâd gotten over my shock the teachers were herding us onto the next activity.â
âdo you remember anything about him?â
âthe details are fuzzy now, but he was older than me by a few years. and he was very tall.â she pauses, thinking. âand his hair was cut short, but dyed bright red.â
adrienâs eyes narrow. âis that why you have a red streak in your hair?â
nathalie smiles and tilts her head. âyou know, adrien, i never really thought about it like that. but maybe.â
âhow long ago was this?â
adrien and nathalie both turn at the sound of gabrielâs sudden question, completely unaware of how intently heâd been listening to their conversation since the mentioning of the station
âiâd just turned fourteen.â
gabriel calculates the timing in his head, frown deepening as nathalie and adrien turn to a different topic
a few days later an increasingly agitated gabriel bites the bullet and calls amĂŠlie, who reluctantly admits that, no, gabriel was not actually emilieâs soulmate and that, apparently, she had known her soulmate for years before sheâd met him but couldnât stand the boy and had jumped at the chance to be gabrielâs soulmate when heâd mistaken her for his
furious, he slams down the phone and goes to find the old photo albums stashed in the back of his closet
and there, on the second page of a scrapbook emilie had made him for their six-month anniversary, in the background of the very first selfie heâd taken with emilie was a gangly, pale girl with a heart-shaped face and familiar bright blue eyes
gabrielâs heart stutters to a stop, eyes flicking from the bright red buzz cut heâd very briefly sported to emilieâs radiant smile and back to the teenage version of nathalie
nathalie
his soulmate
#gabenath#soulmates au#sorry if this is awful but i just needed to send it off into the universe so iâd stop thinking about it

further update
Apparently you have to click "patchy" biome distribution rather than "realistic" or you will have to travel tens of thousands of blocks to easily reach a type of climate different than the one it spawns you in
Also, if you have "temperate" spawn checked and "realistic" biome distribution, it will spawn you in birch and maple forest with cattail marsh Always
So i used the patchy biome distribution (also turned off temporal storms, whatever that is, because it doesn't sound like something i want to fuck with) in my new world and wound up in some kind of gorgeous open environment with tree ferns, reminding me of Aotearoa.
I'm not fully happy with the animal behavior on second thought. Predators will pretty much attack you on sight, even where they realistically wouldn't, whereas large herbivores don't seem to really threaten you, even where they realistically would. It gets really annoying because almost every environment has predators that won't avoid you and will try to kill you, and in forested environments you can't see them to avoid them.
I found a creepy structure with a copper vessel full of "Rot" and "Human skull" and "Deformed human skull." I took the copper vessel for storageâdifficult to obtain in this game
The day/night cycle and monster spawning mechanic is really, really annoying. You can only sleep for 7 hours on the hay bed, which means you are going to spend some amount of time awake in the dark, and it's very hard to tell when it is daylight enough for safety.
At night, monsters called drifters (which look weirdly like capuchin monkeys) spawn and try to kill you. They spawn in groups, leaving no hope of successfully defending yourself, can get through 1x1 block holes as well as apparently dig through soil walls, and do not seem to go away when daylight arrives.
Unlike Minecraft where you can get away with sleeping in the open as long as no monsters are nearby when you try to sleep, in this game you will almost invariably be killed by monsters unless you sleep in an enclosed space that is completely sealed off. Since you are not able to make wooden planks or anything that could be used to construct a door using the flint tools, you basically have to bury yourself alive to safely sleep, and in this state you can't tell when it becomes daylight, or whether there are monsters outside that will just kill you when you emerge, because you're fucking buried in a pile of cob, dirt and logs.
It is an incredibly frustrating mechanic that makes no sense. According to the (very outdated and empty) wiki, the monsters drop an item that allows you to set spawn, but I haven't yet managed to kill one as they attack in groups and can damage me faster than I can inflict damage armed with an axe.
I will see if there is a way to turn off monster spawning entirely, because it adds nothing to the game to have to seal myself underground every single night in order to sleep without being murdered by creepy mutilated capuchin monkeys. It is a game with realistic exploring and crafting and foraging but for some reason realistic sleeping is a problem.
I don't really see why this game has to have monsters in it at all. It adds a lot of environmental hazards and sources of difficulty that Minecraft doesn't have, it doesn't need monsters just because Minecraft has them.
vintage story update
figured out how to eat (you hold down right click, and have to be facing away from something that is interactable like a campfire)
Thoughts so far:
The variety of useful plants is great, I love being able to make baskets, hay and thatch and to forage for food. I am in a marshy environment with patches of maple and birch forest. The environment has a lot of variety while still feeling cohesive
The stone knapping system is great, though you can use stones that wouldn't realistically make flaked tools like thatâa forgivable oversight
I also like the possibilities of foraging. So far, i'm doing well living off of cattail rhizomes and the occasional berries. The wild food resources are very realistic.
I haven't done much of anything except make a hay bed and sleep in it, (which doesn't seem to change your respawn point, unlike in Minecraft) as well as get killed by a wild boar (also realistic)

The Arrangement - Part 12
Summary: Jake's done a lot of things to keep his sister, and then his niece, safe from his parent's influence and manipulation. If he wants to keep them safe, he has to marry you.
Warnings: Anxiety, Bad parents and siblings, Talking about abuse. Let me know if I missed any!
Part 11 - Part 13
Series Masterlist
It had been just over a week since your wedding. You and Jake have improved your communication. He's also managed to really set himself up in the home theater where he'd spent that first night. Apparently one thing your parents got right was the massive pair of recliners specifically for that room. Jake swears they're more comfortable than most of the beds he's slept on over the years. It makes you feel better about taking the master bedroom for yourself. Clay had visited again bringing a few duffel bags of Jake's things, including his computer. The massive screen for the theater worked really well for his setup.
While you were cooking, Clay had made sure to update Jake on the status of his family. Things were working pretty well, but there were going to be a lot of paper trails to hide so that they couldn't be followed. Or at least, not followed easily. Aisha and Cougar had both caught a couple of people following his family around that were confirmed to be employed by his parents. Hopefully now that Jake had his computer he could get some better intel on the parents' finances and connections.
But you weren't privy to that update. Jake and Clay agreed it was safer to keep you in the dark about the details. Though Jake didn't doubt your sincerity, there were still too many unknowns about you.
You really didn't mind that they got quiet whenever you were near. Your mind was already at maximum anxiety with Travis, your brother, still being in the Intensive Care Unit. Your parents had been acting unusually as the week progressed and Travis didn't get better. According to the police report he'd been seen drinking heavily with friends before trying to drive home. Usually one of his friends would be the designated driver and keep everyone's keys but, somehow, Travis had gotten his keys.
And now your parents seemed to be readjusting their life plans, and yours as well. The one time you were allowed to visit the hospital you'd overheard your parents murmuring about "he can't be seen like this," "he'll be seen as weak," and other similar thoughts. It made you worried you and Jake would be even more under their scrutiny, set to even higher standards. Your breath hitched as you realized they may demand a grandchild to help change the public perception of the family to one of hope or something like that.
You and Jake were getting ready for your first public event as a couple. You're helping Jake pick out the right suit while doing your best to answer his questions about what to expect, what is appropriate conversation, how much both of you needed to talk to others before you could leave. You know you're missing things. Jake does, too. But neither of you can think of the questions to ask so you establish a silent signal for help. Jake squeezes your hand three times and you either step in or whisper some advice in his ear. It's not a great system, but it's all you can do for now.
Jake hates how he looks in all of this but he knows it's not about him or his comfort. At least he doesn't have to wear the torture device you call a dress. The thing looks impossibly tight on you. He's worried about your ability to breathe. And the stiletto heels have you warning him you'll be on his arm all night to help you keep your balance. Jake actually takes comfort in that because he really doesn't want to be left alone at this event. Probably any event, but this first one especially.
As the car pulls up Jake takes a deep breath and you attempt the same.
"We can do this, right?" He says quietly.
"I believe we can," you nod. You gently squeeze his hand in reassurance like you did that first morning with the parents.
He nods, "let's do this."
As soon as he's able Jake is out of the car and opening your door for you. The last time he did so you were scared of each other. Now you make sure to give him a small smile of thanks as he takes your hand. The elevator ride to the party is as quiet as the one you took together your wedding night, but less oppressively so. It isn't until the elevator doors open that you both put on your fake smiles. Both of you taking small comfort in the fact that neither of you is suffering alone.
After the first couple hours Jake is ready to punch someone, anyone, just so he can be forced to leave since he's not allowed out yet. He's incredibly grateful you insisted on eating a little something beforehand. The food here is barely edible and dissolves faster than cotton candy. He hates the wine? Champagne? Whatever the hell it is, he hates the taste of it but, in following your lead, he knows he has to at least sip often enough to warrant a replacement glass every 30 minutes or so. Jake was grateful to have your weight on his arm to help keep him grounded.
Especially when Charles Blackwood, a "friend" of his from high school, showed up. Charles had been nothing but a leech throughout all of high school but Jake was desperate for some kind of friendship.
"Jacob! Where have you been?" Charles holds out his hand and Jake grips it firmly.
"I've been okay, Charles. You?"
"Holy crap, you're married now? Is that why you finally came out of hiding?"
"Sort of," he admits.
He goes to introduce you but Charles stops him. "I know this lovely lady quite well," he admits. You avert your eyes. "We were engaged for some time."
"You were?"
"Didn't she tell you?" Charles smirks. "Would've been married for two years now if her parents hadn't stepped in."
"For once I'm glad they did," you interject. "You're a conman who shouldn't be here."
Charles gives a small laugh, "well look who finally grew up. Too bad you didn't pick up on what was going on before I got you into bed." Your cheeks burn with embarrassment. "How are those dolphin projects going?"
"Sharks," Jake snipes. "Her focus was on sharks."
"Ooo, nerd standing up for nerd. How cute."
"You need to leave us alone," Jake fumes. "She is my wife and I won't let you insult her."
Charles scoffs, "since when can you fight?"
"Since boot camp."
That gives Charles pause. He searches Jake's face for tells that he's lying but finds none.
"Yeah, alright," Charles concedes. "Just don't ruin this party for me. Lots of other potential targets."
As soon as he was out of hearing range you let out a breath. "I'm so sorry," your voice quavers. "I should have...I should have told you."
"Told me what? That your ex-fiance is an asshole? That's not something you need to divulge."
"No...that...that I'm not..."
Jake leans in so that you're the only one who hears him. "You're more than just your virginity status. I'm sorry your first time was with him, he doesn't seem the type to make your pleasure a priority, but I'm not upset that you've had sex before."
You take as deep a breath as you can to steady yourself. "Thank you for that."
"So, can we leave the party yet?"
You check Jake's watch, trying not to be obvious about it. "We've got at least another half hour."
"When we do get out of here, would you be up for going out for some real food?"
You chuckle, "maybe delivery? Or take out? I'm not going to be able to eat much in this dress."
"Fair. And thank you for helping me get through all of this."
"Thank you for listening to my advice," you counter.
"Always," Jake affirms.
