Hear me out, teenager Mobei-jun fell in love at first sight with Shang Qinghua and it took YEARS for him to be comfortable enough to not be absolutely flustered when Shang Qinghua was within a 1m radius from him.

He was down bad enough to actually spy on Shang Qinghua when he was on An Ding peak and he discovered a lot of things

Shang Qinghua's favourite colour was yellow, his favourite food was rice with mashed potatoes and his favourite flower was the crystanemum.

Eventually, in the first meetings with Junshang, Mobei-jun casually confessed to spying on his servant on a weekly basis and Luo Binghe told him it was not normal and that he maybe should stop, "Shang Qinghua wouldn't like it" is the argument that finally convinced him.

But, when Mobei-jun was trying to court Shang Qinghua he had no batshit idea of how the fuck to do it, so he resumed his spying, with Sha Hualing being 101% supportive of that and Luo Binghe just promising to not tell his shizun

And Mobei-jun discovered things

A lot of things

For example, Shang Qinghua smoked

And seeing Shang Qinghua in the way to be out of his mind, only in his inner robes, his curly hair being loose and messy, his eyes red and a drunken smile on his face was the hottest thing Mobei-jun had seen in his life

He had some realizations to do that night

I have done nothing but doodle for the past 2 days, anyways have some Mobei-jun (merbei-jun?) and Shang Qinghua au.

When I draw, I take care to have Qinghua use mainly his left hand because I head canon him as left-handed. Other characters are right-handed, except for Binghe. Binghe is ambidextrous. This is why I like drawing him the most because I don't have to stop and redraw when I notice he uses this or that hand to perform some sort of activity xd

Im imagining that post-canon but pre-slash, Mobei Jun visiting Shang Qinghua on An Ding peak and all of the younger disciples (who have no idea who Mobei Jun is) just assume Mobei Jun is Shang Qinghua’s beautiful trophy wife

I think the thing that everyone gets wrong about Mobei Jun in au’s or whatever is that he’s always extremely unromantic when approaching Quinghua. Mobei Jun in canon has been doing (to his own knowledge) a very public and socially acceptable courting ritual to the object of his affections, for years. He does this without getting outwardly frustrated towards Quinghua, and when he gets told it is not in fact being received well he stops immediately. He thinks he’s being incredibly obvious, which he is, to everyone except SQH.

Mobei Jun is effectively, a danmei version of Mr. Darcy.

His little maze of complicated social rules render him unbelievably repressed and unable to directly request Quinghua’s affection, but he loves that little hamster man so much he debases himself to flirt with him in public. He knows they’re of drastically different social standings, but doesn’t give a shit. This man has probably been planning their wedding since he was a teenager. If rom coms were a thing in the demon realm he’d be watching them and taking notes like a wannabe martial artist looking at UFC tapes.

That being said, in a modern office au or whatever, Mobei Jun would probably leave a huge bouquet on Quinghua’s desk every morning. However he does this without signing the card and it ends up stressing SQQ out because who the hell are these for????

Shen Yuan should be surprisingly good at makeup. Like, we all know that Shen Jiu could draw eyeliner sharper than Cheng Luan, but Shen Yuan had a meimei.

Imagine she has a school dance or something, and maybe a mean girl at school said something that made Shen-mei decide she was going to wear makeup for the school dance.

Now, of course, Shen Yuan and his geges make sure to tell her that the girl was just mean, and she's beautiful when she's comfortable and happy, not because of makeup etc etc it's all very good intentioned.

Even so, she says, she still wants to wear makeup.

So she buys some, and starts practicing. She's ... Not the best. Shen Yuan finds her crying in the bathroom with crooked eyeliner, mascara transfer marks on her cheeks, foundation and concealer in the wrong shade, contour that looks like a 5'o'clock shadow, overfilled brows, blush that won't blend...

He helps her take off the cakey makeup and bundles her into the living room, comforting warm drinks in hand. They spend the night watching makeup tutorials.

Step-by-step Shen Yuan learns along with his meimei how to do a full face of makeup.

The school dance goes perfectly, Shen-mei was the most beautiful resplendent girl in the school and had a wonderful time with her friends.

Shen Yuan and Shen-mei don't stop watching makeup videos and doing makeup on each other though, it becomes a shared hobby. Every few weeks, even into adulthood, they'd meet up, turn on some makeup influencer and take out their makeup brushes.

It was their special thing, something that just the two of them shared.

Cut to post-transmigration, during a visit for planning the 'garden', Shang Qinghua idly asks Cucumber-bro how he manages to draw the huadian perfectly every single time.

(I don't know the correct term, I tried looking for the proper terminology because what I believe Shen Qingqiu wears is some sort of scholar's mark? But I couldn't find anything. Please let me know if anyone knows the correct term!)

Shen Yuan shrugs and goes 'not like it's hard, you probably just suck.'

This leads to an argument wherein Shen Yuan decides to demonstrate his superiority.

They did forget that there was a Peak Lords meeting, and so Shen Qingqiu strolls in with flawless eyeliner, lips, huadian, the whole combo, and Shang Qinghua walks in with a red face and smudged eyeliner (it does look good though, fits his messy vibes).

Liu Qingge feels a little faint when he watches Shen Qingqiu absentmindedly press his fan to his lips, leaving lipstick marks on the fan. (SY wonders why at that moment, the System lets him know that his fan has leveled up.)

Luo Binghe is trying to figure out a way to get Shizun to teach him to do makeup... The thought of Shizun taking the brush to his lips, concentration furrowing his brows, letting Luo Binghe admire his face even more unabashedly then usual ...

Qi Qingqi changes her tune faster because she has to know how Shen Qingqiu got his eyelashes so perfect.

I am in class and trying not to cry over the smollest An Ding disciple and MJ i am going to scream help-

But seriously, i love it so much and Mobei-jun getting his parental instincts kickstarted. That's his child now.

Also the baby looks like a tiny 4-6 years old. And that's, so tiny. Shang Qinghua adopting baby children, before cultivation age. Who's gonna stop him? Zhangmen-shixiong's gonna tell him he has to take the children back? I don't think so >:3

I honestly like the idea that the peaks are generally full of children, even those too young for cultivation, cause older cultivators start families! Children are all over the place!

But SQH taking children that are too young to cultivate is also funny. I think it would start by mistake, he goes down to the selection and goes back up thinking he chose no one, then turns around and an absolute BABY just followed him up all the way. What's he gonna do?! Tell them to go back down?? No! Now it's his disciple! And then the next time there's another baby, and he thinks that maybe that earlier baby needs a friend his age between the disciples and- wait does this one also have a twin?? uhh, okay, so its 3 baby disciples now. Perfect number! Then word gets out that the An Ding peak lord takes disciples much younger and shq is being sent children from all over the place and some are even from families that really really need the help and he feels kinda bad now-- So now An Ding has a whole preschool worth of disciples, they are just learning math and how to write and their only "job" is to bring messages all over An Ding, u see these lil ducklings running around asking for various people to give them letters all the time now.

A lot of messages are for SQH ofc so most of the smallest kids are always following him when they spot him

This one disciple Mobei-jun got is the most recent and smallest.
