I appreciate the information on Darius and Serafina's age gap! I would have had reservations about it in the past but I don't care now I just want the sexy scenes! you put to words exactly my feelings as I read the first chapter no one would dare to write a scene where the villain slashes through her clothes and bares her naked to her love interest now I love reading through older books like this just to experience that lost style of writing !!

You can still find that, but it's definitely going to be in a dark romance lol, and is much harder to find in a historical romance setting right now. Which I find lame :/ because historicals are SOOOO fucking broad, and the era in which they take place is not all cotton candy, right? And I don't need them to all be dark, I love some fluffy shit too. But I feel that as of late, a lot of traditionally published historicals seem to be under this pressure to lean towards the romcom side. And I find that, as a reader and a writer, very limiting.

You also don't have to be one or the other! Princess has a lot of harrowing moments, but it's also kinda fucking hilarious (intentionally) at points. It just feels more... whole. It doesn't read like Gaelen Foley was stepping carefully when she wrote it.

And hey, at points, that's a problem; The Pirate Prince I loved, but it had one issue where I was like "ugh, shit". I'm not done with Princess yet, and maybe it will, too.

But I do prefer these books exist with their mistakes than not exist at all. And I think we can enjoy the parts of them that we enjoy while still being aware of the problematic aspects.

The general setup of the book, though... I'm not losing sleep over, lol. It's clearly a fantasy, we aren't supposed to be like "Oh yeah, so glad 20 year old Serafina gets with her 34 year old bodyguard who's known her since birth, let's endorse that for girls in real life". This is a story. So I'm glad you enjoy it! I've seen some reviews get very in the weeds about that.

(And, well. That might wanna think about the fact that Serafina's mom is 38 and Serafina is 20, lmao.)

This is why I have such a hard time talking about myself. (In person, of you follow me here you know I vent a lot) I know my life is fucked up. I know people don't want to hear about it. I am literally holding myself back in so many conversations, even with things that I feel are minor! Like I was talking with a coworker about how I have a hard time with self control with chocolate, I always eat too much and I make myself sick. She joked and said something about like 10 chocolate bars. I just laughed but like. I'm talking about 1 chocolate bar. Eating 1 full chocolate bar will make me sick. I should really not be eating more than 1/2. There are so many other instances but this is just one instance in remembering right now
