When I was a kid, I didn't know trans men existed. I thought that nobody actually likes being a girl, that's just something that unfortunately happens to you, and you just gotta suck it up and pretend to be happy about it. Something vaguely about how it'd be shameful to admit you'd rather be a man because that's not The Feminist Stance, you just gotta grit your teeth and endure that shit and insist that you prefer it that way.

When I first learned that female-to-male transitioning even exists at all, my first thought was to wonder "why hasn't every woman done this?" How has this been kept secret so well that all women haven't flocked to transitioning if that's a thing you can do?

It was only over years that it actually sunk in that yeah no, women really do just want to be women, like genuinely. For the first 12 or 13 years of my life I wasn't aware that trans men exist, but in a more vague and unaware sense, I did not believe that cis women exist.

also veilguard has such a unique refusal to engage with faith and religion and i think that’s a huge factor in why it doesn’t feel like a dragon age game. those have been such central themes in the series and even though inquisition did them badly they were at least there. veilguard has empty chantries and unnamed dalish clans and a lost dwarven city you can only go to for a quest and don’t get me started on the antaam. you disprove part of the chant of light and it’s referenced by one line of dialogue and never again. the entire elven religion being a lie is the main plot of the game and all you get about that is bellara’s white guilt subplot. harding is reconnected to the stone but she’s a surface dwarf and the interaction with kal-sharok dwarves is extremely limited and valta is a statue. you have to make taash choose between being qunari or rivaini after their entire plotline about being nonbinary and not having to choose one or the other. it feels not even quite like the throughline of faith that has been central to the entire series was neglected but moreso that it was purposefully avoided

My problem with heterosexual romance novels (which I am reading under duress due to my coworker book club but find somewhat entertaining cuz they're not something I normally wld read) is that whenever the love interest is an asshole the author also makes him all dommy dom. when what I really want is for him to be thoroughly put in his place. All of these shithead Christian grey knockoff guys in these books would be excellent brat material but nobody cares what I want. Nobody cares what I want
