I saw this old tiktok from like 5ish months ago about tim drake and saying that they hate him and like his fanon version. And i as a TIM FAN i am on tumblr now to defend the fandom (Im not going to link the video bc if this blows up i DO NOT want the person getting blasted bc these are takes they had in like june of 2024) Also in all fairness this person is talking about the “crazy” tim drake fans (some might even reach to say stans) Im just yapping my opinions as (in my personal opinion) a very reasonable tim fan

Their first point (stated as 1. (i will be stating their points as “#.” and my response as “-“)) Also i refer to op as “they” and “their” bc i didnt wanna put them on blast, sorry if it’s confusing. I put (op) next to references to them that might be confusing

1. Tim drake is mis-characterized by the fandom which leads to it becoming canon

- They are not wrong with this, HOWEVER please note that a lot of fans who like batman (SPECIFICALLY bat family are reading fanfics or WFA) meaning that their knowledge of what is cannon and what isn’t is misconstrued. (reminder that WFA isn’t cannon to the main DCU (i’m like 90% sure) While i do disagree with some of ppls headcannons (coffee addiction Tim DrakeTM i’m looking at you) I don’t see issue in writers making headcannons cannon. it could mean a lot to the fans AND MEANS THAT THE WRITERS ARE LISTENING TO THE FANS

2. Tim drake fans bringing him up every chance they get (ie: bringing him up with the fact he might have been at the flying graysons routine where they died)

- Yeahhhh i got nothing to say about this.. Tbh ppl just like their fave, i feel like SOME tim drake fans get a victim complex with him (or whatever you’d classify it as) and like feel the need to relate him to every single character

3. The “Timdrakeafication” of every single robin

NOW here’s my evidence, also i made an insta story abt this. 1) Tim is THE robin (especially in his first comics) to have changed up the robin suit design

So when first seeing Robin in Teen Titans (and Teen Titans Go) It’s not unreasonable to assume he’s Tim (Now to be fair i haven’t seen all of Teen Titans (fake fan ik 😔) So take my opinion on this with a grain of salt)

Though, ppl still getting them confused about who is who is on them especially bc they’ve had multiple instances where it is confirmed (in both season 1 yj and teen titans) who is who (Tim is literally in season 2 (and kinda 3) of yj

ALSO they bring up the fact that Damian is starting to look like tim and i have nothing to say to that bc im not a super huge damian fan (other than WFA which imo does justice to his character) and I couldn’t tell you shit about it BAHAHA

4. Tim being ‘underrated’ in the fandom

-Tim is not underated in the fandom. HOWEVER because rn it is Damian’s turn to be robin it is difficult to find main stream comics with Tim (Batman: Failsafe my love) And i believe that in a lot of Tiktok’s and fandom media about the birds and bats skip out on Tim bc he is seen as overrated so they just skip over him (which bruh what???) Nightwing literally has a comic series currently still releasing. Damian had the batman and son comics, and his own robin comics.(im pretty sureee) Tim (and dick) both have a compendium out (i love my Tim Drake Compendium 🫶🫶) Jason has the death in the family book, and other red hood comics (however his character tends to get boiled down to just the angry robin, and he doesn’t have a currently airing comic series). None of the 4 boys robins are technically under rated.

Real underrated batfamily members: Duke Thomas, Stephenie Brown, Cass Caine. (i swear if anyone says Duke was a robin it’s on sight/lh)

5. Dick threatening to send Tim to Arkham bc he thought bruce was alive

-NO DICK NEVER IN CANNON THREATENED THIS. This was a fic, meant for tim drake angst. Their (op) argument that Bruce (i’m going off the failsafe cannon idk if their is another instance where bruce gets lost in the time stream/ multiverse) was buried and gone (they don’t have a funeral for him girl (gender neutral) what?? Also no one argued that Bruce wasn’t alive, Tim didn’t even go to the league with this one he talks to Jon, Dick (dick actually believes that Bruce is alive) And Mister Tarrific (Michael Holt)

Dick believes that Bruce is alive BUT doesn’t think they can do anything about it. Dick isn’t stupid, there’s very little chance that he’d actually think Bruce is dead. HOWEVER where is your whimsy?? Where is your want for angst?? Tim being thrown in arkham came from a fic (im pretty sure) it wanted to push the idea of everyone thinking tim was crazy like he said in exhibit h, top right frame: “I’m tired of everyone looking at me like i’m crazy.” The point of fandom and fanfiction is to take your own idea and make it into a story about characters that already exist. Tim haters using this au (we’ll call it) as an excuse to hate on tim “🤓☝️bc it’s not cannon that Dick threw him in Arkham” boils my blood (not literally i try and be a passive guy)

6: Tim fans “villainizing” other hero characters (ie: Dick Grayson)

- One of their points is that Tim fans villainize Dick for choosing Damian as his robin. All i have to say to this is: If your older sibling who you explicitly looked up to chose your younger sibling who is know to be a brat (not saying that Damian is actually a brat BUT (and maybe i’m projecting) Tim would probably see him as a brat bc that kid tried to kill him before, because he thought that tim wasn’t fit to hold the role of Robin) you’d probably be hurt, and pissed. SO ppl “villainizing” Dick aren’t really, they are showing (in my experience at least) that, that is how Tim views Dick at that moment bc he’s pissed off at his brother.

7. They (op) says that they’ll get so much hate for their tim drake takes, but literally all the comments agree with them. As a closing thought they said that they wouldn’t be making this video but it’s so prevalent now (in the fandom ig??) and that it’s (tim drake’s character??) so hard to ignore that they had to rant a make the video

- I have one thing to say: WHERE IS YOUR WHIMSY???

In conclusion, I wish no ill will on this person, they seem chill, and like a good fan. However they talk very condescendingly (Someone pls lmk if i sound the same lol) and ignore the fact that it is called FANNON for a reason. It is the fans cannon and we can add what ever head cannons we want. It is very easy to ignore a characters fandom, block the tags on tumblr, click ‘not interested’ on tiktok like- girl (gn) you just need to do the work and your life quality will be so much better PLEASEEEE. Well I agree with some of their points (like tim not actually being underrated) it is hard to ignore that there seemed to be very little research done for this (It’s a tiktok so it not that big of a deal lmao) but when taking about the cannon and fannon i believe that you need to take into account the cannon comics, and make a distinction between fannon and cannon. I do not like the commment about Bruce being dead, and saying that they watched him get buried. He was technically incinerated by Failsafe, they (atleast in the failsafe and the bat-man of Gotham) didnt hold a funeral.

Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jiménez i love you, pls read the fail safe and the bat-man of Gotham comics they are beautiful and very well written imo.

Today was a great day, a magical day, a beautiful day - for Vee at least. She was being taken somewhere, Veronica wouldn't say where though, and she was excited and patiently loafed in the truck as she drove. And by patiently loafed I mean shaking so violently with excitement and not shutting up about her curiousity about the world around them, which made Veronica have a really hard time staying focused on the road. Thankfully they just reached their destination without a problem, and Veronica sighed in relief when it was as empty as she expected it to be. She knew she had to plan this right or Vee would've killed someone- whether or not it would've been an accident was not something Veronica wanted to find out that day. Instead she parked the truck, got out, then helped her galaxy sweatshirt wearing daughter out of the back. Kinda fitting how she chose to wear that one and black sweatpants that day.

"We're here, and it's as quiet as I expected it. Please behave though, okay?" Veronica softly asked as she watched Vee stretch, the six foot tall robot looking massive and terrifying as she stretched at first- then went cat mode as she stretched like a cat in the parking lot. Vee then shook herself off like a dog, stood up fully, then grinned like an idiot.

"Of course I'll do my best to behave, I'm not an asshole on purpose. Just happens sometimes." Vee stated sweetly, getting back down into a lower position, just to rub her monitor against her mom sweetly like a massive cat giving their owner a headbutt. Veronica just laughed and gave her some affection, and so did a sweet elderly woman who was walking past.

"What a sweet massive robot... Looks just like Vee from uh... Gardenview... My kid loved that place..." The elderly softly spoke, making Vee pause.

"Oh actually-"

"Oh my goodness, you sound like her too! Oh how sweet... Would you like a butterscotch dear..?" The kind woman softly offered, and Vee very carefully took it like it was some sort of peace offering. The poor woman was then a victim of gentle Vee nuzzles and massive cat purring time, and she just gave the robot the love she desperately craved, Veronica just watching in disbelief for a bit.

"Vee, we have to go in now, we can't miss the show-"

"But... But she smells like grandma and lavender..." Vee whined, getting a laugh out of the sweet old woman.

"Oh don't worry dear, I'm going in there too, we'll see each other soon. Have fun now..." The elderly woman softly said, put an unopened bag of the butterscotch candies in Vee's hands, then she went inside the building quietly. Vee held the bag like it was a gift from a god, shaking a little.

"I love elderly people..."

"I'm very happy to know that, Vee. I'm really happy you still love hanging out with your older fans too... Let's go honey, I promise- you'll love this." Veronica sweetly soothed, gently taking Vee's free hand and watching her stand up to her full height again before she lead her inside. It was a space museum, and Vee was absolutely astonished by everything in it- but that wasn't why they were there. Veronica gently lead her shocked daughter to the planetarium, and as expected, it was near empty. Just a few other people here and there, Vee ignored them as she just sat down in a comfortable looking spot. Veronica sat on her lap, letting Vee hold her close.

"I love you, momma. I love you."

"You know where we are, don't you?"

"They're gonna let me touch the stars momma... I love the stars." Vee whispered, tail wagging itself into a motion blur. Veronica just smiled even more, especially when Vee stated purring excitedly. Though when the show started, Vee went silent- still- focused. Her eyes going huge as the domed room filled with the projection of the galaxy, her mouth a small "o" shape in awe. Veronica was giggling, watching as she reacted to finally being in a planetarium for the first time in years, as Vee obviously absolutely loved every second of it. Especially since she could touch the walls and admire the stars closely without anyone telling her not to, especially since she'd touch them so gently it was almost like she barely touched anything. She was mesmerized, softly touching all the stars around her, not even fake breathing anymore. The stars were all she could focus on now, and it was absolutely adorable, like watching a little kid discover their newest favorite toy. All eyes were on her at one point, but Vee never could make herself care, nor did Veronica even blame any of them for watching. Vee was definitely admiriable like that, being the little toon that was still deep down, the little curious robot that just wanted to touch the stars. Veronica sniffed as she wiped an eye on her shirt sleeve, not even realizing how comforting it was to see that curious and excited expression on Vee's face until she realized her vision was a little blurry.

"They really do let me touch the stars here mama..."

"Yeah, that's why I brought you to this one dear, I know you love that." Veronica whispered, though she squeaked when Vee picked her up, just to smile and let the robot take her hand and put it on one of the projected stars.

"You touch stars too." Vee whispered, smiling at her mom. Veronica just nodded once, chuckling a little until she realized which star she had put her hand on. It was the brightest one projected... It definitely was on purpose.

"It shines as bright as you, momma." Vee whispered so quietly it was barely heard. Veronica broke down crying.

"Thanks Vee..." She whispered back, getting a gentle nuzzle from the robot as they huddled together comfortably.

"I love you momma."

"I love you too, Vee."

Neither of them had noticed that someone had taken a picture of them like that, they just stayed close to each other, Vee's hand on Veronica's, both over a star.

They probably wouldn't have cared anyways.

After the planetarium unfortunately had to let them go again, Vee just carried her mom around the actual museum, and Veronica didn't even try to stop her. They just looked at everything together, ate astronaut food together at the gift shop, laughed at Veronica's horrible space themed puns together. They had a great time, just bonding and being the same inseparable duo they used to be back at Gardenview, the roles reversed now. Vee was the one showing Veronica everything now because of her new size, but they both didn't seem to care one bit. They were thriving, being silly, and Vee was finally being confident in public again.

They both immediately passed out on the couch together when they eventually got home, Veronica curled up against Vee, Vee clinging to her mother like their lives depended on her holding Veronica down. They looked as peaceful as ever though, and Shanon just smiled at the two doofuses as she covered them up in a blanket real quick, then went back to the kitchen. Shelly was in there, getting spoiled rotten by an old friend.

"They immediately passed out on the couch before they even knew you were here, Sam." Shanon stated casually as she strolled over to the oven, checking on her mac and cheese. Sam just laughed, giving Shelly another chocolate chip muffin, who just emitted a dino squeak of absolute joy as she devoured it excitedly.

"Do you think they'll ever notice the photo that my mom took in the planetarium on the fridge?" The red head asked, giggling as Shelly nuzzled her face into their hands. They immediately gave her the pets and kisses she wanted, getting more happy dinosaur squeaks and giggles from the way-too-excited-for-words fossil. Shanon looked at it, then shrugged as she looked back at the two, closing the oven again.

"They'll notice eventually, Sam. They always do. Still staying over for dinner?" Shanon asked, getting a look from the other handler, who now was giving the happy fossil a hug.

"I'm literally your neighbor, I'm always down for dinner with you idiots."

"So that's a yes then." Shanon stated, making Sam nod just once, not even flinching as Shelly picked them up. They were honestly expecting to be carried around in a dino hug when they got to see each other again. Shanon just laughed, also expecting that.

"Yeah, you're family now. Welcome to chaos, Sam." Shanon teased, getting a shrug from Sam as they just plopped their head against the fossil's shoulder.

"Glad to be back to handling toons... I think."

the d4 yaoi yuri explanation post time yayyyyy!!!! this post and this poll will explain why this is happening btw.

there are heavy spoilers for persona 2, revue starlight, revue of souls (thing from the movie), roselia's 1st band story as well as semi-general spoilers for the side nova, side origin of rondo, rondo's 1st unit story and a little bit of d4dj first mix!)

before you say anything, yaoi and yuri are not based on gender, even though the examples im using are two boy couples and two girl couples. the word count is also 2,081 words so if u genuinely are curious, please continue reading!

im doing yaoi first to make my life easier, then yuri, yuriyaoi, and then yaoiyuri.

my example for yaoi is not the more popular one (sasu.naru/naru.sasu) but these two!

these two ^ are kyo (one on the left) and iori (one on the right looking gay rlly gay) from the kof franchise!

theyre fated to be rivals because of their clans, but they fight for their own personal reasons. iori is obsessed w kyo, you see. to the point that when he could stop having fire powers that are connected to his curse -- a curse that will make him die very young and every woman of the clan upon giving birth will die-- he decided to not do that and keep it so he can kill kyo. iori doesnt like violence, but when it comes to kyo? he has exceptions.

kyo is also semi not normal about iori. iori almost died twice, and during those two times, kyo brought him back to life with his flames in the manga and manhwa even though he says it's a pain. iori has many nightmares about kyo, most of which involves him being friends with kyo.

also there's this:

everyone in the game, even the newcomers, notice how obsessed kyo and iori are with each other. even characters that haven't been in the game for a while.

this is why neosophi is like these two (at the beginning. the obsession, the want of wanting the other to live because you cant live without them (sophia) and the fact that the other wants to be friends with the other deep down (neo).

thanks to the latest abyssmare event in en, theyre starting to lean to yuri rather than yaoi, but they still have many things to work out, so im keeping this. the real yaoi relationship in d4 is actually weronika and neo but w these 4 ships the most yaoi one has to be neosophi, sorry.

now, onto the yuri !!

the examples i could be using are so many, but i decided to go with these two.

^ yukina (left) and lisa (right) from bandori!!

some of you probably know their relationship but for the people who don't know, lisa and yukina are childhood friends. yukina is the leader, composer and vocalist of roselia, while lisa is the bassist. the both of them understand each other so well yet they have difficulty opening up to each other at the beginning. nowadays, they have good communication and can tell when the other is upset or struggling with something, lisa makes sure that yukina is okay and yukina does the same for her.

yet again, theyre childhood friends so their fates feel almost intertwined, like they were always meant to be together. yukina has even said once that she feels that lisa was fated to be part of roselia, even though lisa quit bass at first.

hayakoko is very much like them (from what we know abt their relationship the moment), they both understand each other like no one else because out of everyone in their group they know each other the most and got closer (and was almost separated) because of music. they make sure the other is okay and feels safe.

now that i've explained how yaoi and yuri are (to me), it's time for yuriyaoi and yaoiyuri!

first, the difference! yuriyaoi is when there are more yuri elements than yaoi elements, while yaoiyuri is when there are more yaoi elements than yuri. both of them NEED to have elements of both for you to classify it as either! but sometimes if the relationship has an equal amount of yuri and yaoi elements, then it's okay to use them interchangeably, it just needs to specifically have the same amount of yuri and yaoi elements in the relationship.

something i have changed from that post is that i made tsubaoi yuriyaoi rather than kyoshino, which is because they both have the same amount of elements of yuri and yaoi. (and are most alike compared to neosophi and hayakoko)

so, enough stalling, first up is yuriyaoi!

my example for yuriyaoi is actually these two guys from the persona series! (i could make an actual post of just them and it hurts that im condensing so much of their relationship, so if you would like to know more about these two, just play the game.)

^ their names are tatsuya (silly w the brown hair) and jun (the one w the bangs and is smiling so nicely)

jun and tatsuya are childhood friends that lost contact with each other because of events in the game. they are both literal parallels to each other in that they are "shadows" to each other, look similar to each other and their stories are similar (they have papa issues). but they are also opposites. jun is very soft, gentle and emotive while tatsuya is rough-looking, intense and because he is the protag for p2 he is a silent protagonist.

even with tatsuya's rough exterior he is very kind, is a bit awkward when interacting with people, and is willing to do anything for his friends. jun is good with science and astrology, while tatsuya is good at physical education (specifically sprinting). they also both exchanged treasures to each other. jun gave tatsuya his father's lighter, while tatsuya gave jun the watch his father gifted him. there was this one part in the game, where one of the characters pointed out how they are alike which made jun embarrassed but happy about it.

at the near end of the game, if you know the persona lore, there are things called shadows -- a side of someone that they dislike about themselves -- and main characters needed to fight that version of themselves. when they faced tatsuya's shadow, he taunted tatsuya and said that he hated jun. there is a choice to say if you hate jun or not, but canonically tatsuya doesnt hate jun, which is evident in eternal punishment (the other persona 2 game). it's the same as well for jun. they hate the side of themselves that tells them that they should hate the other, which causes some sort of conflict between them that is resolved based on what you say when one of the characters asked tatsuya which one of them that he likes.

if u choose jun, they will be lovers, but even if the relationship status was 'best friends', the dialogue in their contact (the first image) for them would be the same even when they are lovers. it shows that tatsuya and jun are very passionate for each other no matter their relationship, lovers or not.

now. how this kind of yuriyaoi is like tsubaki and aoi. both tsubaki and aoi have parallels to each other. tsubaki is a girl that struggles with how she sees herself and her worth like aoi, but instead of her looks it's with her singing. both tsubaki and aoi are good at singing and djing respectively, the other noticing and loving that fact about each other, but singing and djing are opposites in a way (like w jun and his love of science and tatsuya with his skill with sprinting). because with singing, all the attention is focused on you, while for djing you are almost invisible to those around.

my yaoiyuri example was difficult to get because it required that it had more yaoi elements than yuri and it was not another male couple (it also had to be similar to kyoshino), but after a few seconds of thinking, i came to the conclusion to use these two:

im sure some of you have heard of these two idiots, but i'll explain to those who are unaware, maya and claudine are rivals. claudine is an ex-child actress while maya comes from a family of famous actors. both of them are in the same class (both top students) and are partners in everything theater pretty much. now you must ask, where is the rivalry aspect? well, claudine keeps on challenging maya all the time in some way. in eating (who gets to eat first), in acting (look at the quote for the first image) in the underground fight club for stage girls and many more!

the reason for this rivalry was that claudine didn't really know how amazing maya was properly at first until she got humbled by maya's abilities in the audition to their school and decided that she needed to be on the same level as her, causing claudine to be the only one out of the entire class to be around the same level as maya. claudine always challenges maya and the other does not mind it, in fact, she loves it. every single time claudine challenges her, maya returns with the same amount of passion for it, causing the both of them to become better as stage girls because they keep pushing each other to their limits.

in the movie, there is these revues (search up the definition pls--) for certain pairs, one of them being these two. their revue is about claudine being a devil making a deal with maya, who is a "vessel of god", to show her a performance no one has ever seen before. during the entire revue for these two, maya says that she is perfection and that she is not a human, but at the middle point, claudine points out how prideful and arrogant maya is, showing that she is human. because of this, this causes maya to get angry at claudine and let their true battle begin. cue the homoerotic sword fighting, the faces being milimeters away from each other and really gay lines that are questionable at best. near the end, they say this:

and maya loses and says that claudine is beautiful, implying that the beautiful performance that no one has ever seen before is claudine because people focus on maya so much they dont notice claudine's accomplishments. their revue ends with the both of them promising each other to keep on being rivals until the end.

so, how does this flavor of yaoiyuri fit kyoshino? well -- it's a bit obvious -- but kyoko and shinobu are rivals as well. both of them are admirers of each other because of how skilled they are in music (like how maya and claudine admire each other for their skills in acting). both of them (shinobu and maya) are arrogant w their abilities to the point that if they do something they are unfamiliar with they get flustered easily. when the other (kyoko and claudine) first met them, they thought they were on the same level until the other (shinobu and maya) humbled them which started their rivalry.

shinobu and kyoko both challenge each other in song-making and songwriting to better each other because theyre the only ones who are on the same level as them in those abilities. they also just, yk, challenge each other in general i think.
