Con le maschere non si può parlare, perché sono un Altro, sì, ma indifferenziato, disincarnato e adialogico in quanto non sono un Io individuato, ma un riflesso di un Io inafferrabile, astorico, adialogante in quanto monologante, e quindi sostanzialmente inaffidabile. La maschera è una deviazione dall'Io dialogico, il suo svuotamento, l'annullamento dell'alterità. Il comunicare con essa ha la ripetizione dell'eco, la risonanza del bronzo cavo. E, di conseguenza, nessuna garanzia di redenzione. L'assenza di mistero, l'intimità che deriva dalla caduta del velo, è invece opportunità dell'incontro, l'apocalisse relazionale; è un frammento tipografico a cui si può desiderare di tornare. È la restituzione della propria immagine nello specchio di uno sguardo che consapevolmente e con intenzionalità guarda e riconosce, e restituisce quella propria immagine non per come ci sembra, ma così come ci viene vista: contornata cioè dall'impronta altrui.

Melodies of Life from Final Fantasy IX - surprisingly not because I finally finished the game (FFIX is in backlog hell) but because the lyrics fit beautifully into my Final Fantasy XV headcanon/one day to be written fic maybe hopefully?

Who's Afraid of Little Old Me by Taylor Swift - my big obsession from the new album at least partially because uhm, this too fit way too good into the FFXV story in my head, oops

Valse di Fantastica by God Yoko Shimomura - speaking of FFXV :) I love this song and I am very excited that yesterday Distant Worlds announced they are premiering a new score of it at the Berlin concert I am going to in May!! (Last time I went to Distant Worlds they did a kinda shitty and very short performance of my beloved Apocalypsis Noctis as the FFXV rep which was incredibly disappointing so I am very glad about this redemption arc)

No Promises to Keep from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth by Nobuo Uematsu the other God and Loren Allred - This post is apparently brought to you by my Final Fantasy brainrot but at least this one isn't about XV I guess :) This song is so pretty omg. And from this one I actually do have the full emotional damage from having finished the game!

Away (Phoenix theme from Final Fantasy XVI) by Masayoshi Soken - I was gonna put some not Final Fantasy song here but this post is already derailed, might as well stick with the theme. I am once again asking Square Enix to release this ost on Spotify. Also yes, this has English lyrics which literally nobody realised until the offical lyrics were released. This song is so good I actually spend money on the FFXVI dlc for Theatrhytm.

Honorable mentions: Toward Mt. Nibel (FF7 Rebirth) like the entire fucking soundtrack for this game is insane (put it on streaming Square) but this is the opening credits while running through a very beutiful valley towards the mountain and it is such a beautiful epic start to the game! Also I am once again asking y'all to listen to Songs from Final Fantasy XV by Florence and the Machine.

There’s a reason I never watched Walking Dead or the dozens of other zombie properties (not counting iZombie and Shaun of the Dead). This zombie show has been well written and acted throughout but that last episode is 100% the kind of horribleness you see in every other zombie thing and it’s not for me. 

I don’t know if I can watch the last episode.

Got tagged by @dying-suffering-french-stalkers to post 4 albums I listened to lately and then I forgot about it for like at least a week so here's some belated music talk!

So Much (For) Stardust by Fall Out Boy: Often when I listen to a new album by a favorite artist/band I am kinda underwhelmed/disappointed because it is different or not as good as what came before and I really need a bit to let the music grow on me. THIS ALBUM HOWEVER! Complete opposite experience. This thing is a masterpiece from start to finish and I needed only one listen to realise it. Every song that came on was amazing. I was literally surprised by myself that I kept loving every song that came on. 10/10 everyone needs to listen to this right now omg

2. Songs From Final Fantasy XV by Florence and the Machine: Final Fantasy XV starts and ends with a beautiful cover of Stand by Me but Florence and the Machine made an additional two songs that aren't actually in the game. This entire thing is only 15 minutes long but these 3 songs singlehandedly made Florence the 3rd artist on my Spotify wrapped last year. Too Much Is Never Enough made me cry when I first heard it. Stand By Me makes me emotional too. I Will Be is hauntingly beautiful. Even if you don't get the full emotional damage from Final Fantasy XV's tragic ending PLEASE listen to this even just for the insane vocals. I promise this will be a 15 minutes well spent.

3. Speaking of Final Fantasy XV My Beloved: Final Fantasy XV Original Soundtrack by God herself aka Yoko Shimomura (and some others): This album singlehandedly made Yoko Shimomura my second artist on my Spotify Wrapped last year. I recently bought this on CD and it is the best thing ever. (The fact that Noctis My Beloved looks very handsome on disc 1 is also a great feature of the CD Box) I love this soundtrack so much. It is very long so I wont demand anyone listen to it in its entirety (even tho yall should) but special shoutouts to Apocalypsis Aquarius, Somnus (Instrumental), Valse di Fantastica, Wanderlust, Veiled in Black and Noctis (I could make a whole seperate post about Noctis theme but omg it makes me emotional)

4. Speak Now by Taylor Swift: So by now you might be wondering who was number 1 on my Spotify Wrapped and it was miss Swift here. I haven't really listened to Speak Now as much lately but I did a few weeks before getting tagged for this. I am trying to manifest Speak Now Taylor's Version because I NEED those vault songs. This is one of if not my favorite album of hers. This is the closest we will ever get to a Taylor Swift rock album. Also: Enchanted My Beloved. Downside of Taylor's Version will be the new album cover because I love this artwork so fucking much and she will never make the new one as good as this one
