Silent treatment
Tumblr media
Anakin Skywalker x Jedi!reader
warnings: none. fluff. prolly incorrect things abt the movies. a lil angst
He hadn't meant to embarrass you. He just wanted to get your attention. But when he pointed out that you'd forgotten to put your lightsaber away after the training session, he hadn't expected the entire group of Jedi to turn and stare at you. Your cheeks flushed a bright shade of red as you realized your mistake, and he could feel his own face heat up too. You didn't even look at Anakin as you sheepishly hung your lightsaber back up on the rack.
Instead, you turned your back to him and started to walk away, muttering under your breath about how you had more important things to do. You could feel his gaze on your back, but you refused to acknowledge it. You didn't want to give him the satisfaction of thinking that you cared.
Anakin followed you, his footsteps falling heavily behind yours. "Hey, wait," he said, trying to catch up. "Please, just talk to me. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to embarrass you." You kept walking, your pace not slowing down. "I really messed up, didn't I? I don't know what came over me. I just wanted to help." He was practically begging now, and it only made you angry all over again.
"You should have been more careful," you said coldly, not looking back at him. "Now everyone thinks I'm some sort of idiot. And you know what? That’s not really good for my reputation as a Jedi." His shoulders slumped at your words, and you felt a twinge of guilt for being so harsh. But you couldn't help it. You were still hurt.
Anakin didn't say anything else, just kept walking a few steps behind you, his head hung low. After a while, you could feel his presence fading away, as if he were disappearing into thin air. You stopped and turned around, suddenly realizing that you missed him. But he was gone.
The next day, you tried to ignore him again, but something felt off. He avoided your gaze and kept his distance, even during lightsaber training. You couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking. Was he angry with you? Or was he just as miserable as you were?
Later that afternoon, you were sitting by yourself in the Jedi garden, lost in thought, when you felt a familiar presence behind you. Anakin sat down beside you, not saying a word. For a long moment, there was silence between you. Then, finally, he spoke. "I'm sorry. For everything. I was stupid, and I hurt you. And I just want you to know that I'm sorry. I'll do anything to make it up to you." His words were soft, sincere.
You turned to look at him, and saw that his eyes were filled with regret. You could feel your heart softening, just a little. "It's okay," you said, trying to keep your voice gentle. "I guess I overreacted. I'm sorry too, Anakin. For pushing you away."
Anakin smiled at you, a genuine smile that lit up his whole face. "Thank you," he said simply. "I promise, I'll never embarrass again.I’ll never let you down." And with that, you felt a weight lift off your shoulders, and you knew that somehow, you could both move on from this. Because in the end, even Jedi could make mistakes, and sometimes, all you needed was the strength to forgive each other.

Oli you are so right when you said AOTC Anakin is baby and ROTS Anakin is Gag me.
Like AOTC Anakin gives that aesthetic of your shy high school boyfriend, who plays guitar for you on rainy afternoons and is shy to make a move on you.
ROTS Anakin.... Like I know he whimpers and most definitely gives Submissive ready to please vibes. I saw BTS of ROTS where Hayden was speaking with GL and said I will do anyway you want me to. Now imagine him saying that while on his knees looking up at you and with that ROTS hair 😩
But let me stop before Astrology Anon calls me a Freak Frog or what they say Haha
so glad that comment is coming back to haunt me just as Hayden is trending 😂
Tumblr media
but I stand by it. and also think you’re a horny toad (FREAK FROG IM DYING) but that is to be expected, it’s a big day in the Hayde-verse

I would say that people are just reaping what the movies tell them. If what’s in the book is supposed to be the definitive take it should be in the movie but it’s not and no one should have to read the novel to understand that and personally I’d say the movies outweigh the novel. Im not trying to be negative towards you.
That quote from the book could be Anakin thinking about his choice in Palpatine’s office to join the Sith because that reads from Anakin’s perspective while this reads as Vader’s perspective:
Outside, the sleek skiff settled to the deck. He spent a moment reassembling his Anakin Skywalker face: he let Anakin Skywalker’s love flow through him, let Anakin Skywalker’s glad smile come to his lips, let Anakin Skywalker’s youthful energy bring a joyous bounce to his step as he trotted to the entrance over the mess of corpses and severed body parts.
Looking at the movies Anakin is consumed by the dark side and that twists his goal of saving Padmé from his visions. Then he sees Luke being killed and kills Palpatine. Anakin always protects his family so is he any different? He cast himself in darkness, made himself a slave, to save Padmé and to save Luke was finally able to overthrow the dark side and Vader.
Lucas also says love is not attachment but his movies don’t bare that out. The Jedi Council is concerned because Anakin is afraid for his mother in TPM. In AOTC Padmé and Anakin have a conversation about what he’s not allowed to do.
Anakin adds hes not allowed to be with the people that he loves, his mom has been free for a number of years yet he has no idea because he learns what’s happened to her over the course of the movie, and Padmé asks if he’s allowed to love. Instead of giving a 1 word answer Yes he gives a 30 word answer that mixes how he views compassion with the weakest affirmation So you might say that we are encouraged to love. someone could use. It also doesn’t help that we saw Anakin as a kind loving kid before he met the Jedi so his idea of compassion comes from his mother and not the Jedi.
Then we have Padmé say she won’t let him give up his future for her when they talk after dinner on Naboo.
Then their is the prophecy. Was Anakin meant to wipe out both the Jedi and Sith? Sure looks like it. The Force created him and choose a slave woman in the Outer Rim so the Jedi wouldn’t find him. Then he has visions of his mother that lead to his first dark side act then the Force shows him visions of Padmé dying. Honestly, if the Force didn’t want him to fall why give him the visions? Plus Palpatine knowing just what to offer without a hint in either the movie or novel that Palpatine read his mind not to mention the timing is perfect for Palpatine.
Then Luke has his vision in Empire that leads to Vader and he learns the truth which sets him in the path of waning to save Vader which leads him to fulfilling the prophecy and at the end, by the movies, all the old Jedi and Sith are gone.
I personally go with Palpatine gave Anakin the visions of Padmé, he got the idea after Anakin told him about his mother and the sand people. That’s just how I make sense of the plot.
Ultimately people are going to go with what’s on screen or in a book if that’s their preference. To me personally what Lucas says doesn’t factor in to what I see as going on because no one should have to look up the creator’s comments to understand the plot. I like learn about the BTS stuff my self out of curiosity.
The argument is also not helped by things like this:
Skywalker - A Family At War Chapter 15 Death and Rebirth
Anakin Skywalker’s psyche was cleaved in two as the dark side consumed him. Within the shell of the man he once had been, his new persona—Darth Vader—firmly took hold.
As Vader, he gave himself completely to the darkness, a creature beholden only to primitive needs and desires, obeying and carrying out the directives of his Sith master without concern for their far-reaching ramifications. Uninhibited rage took control of his entire being, blotting out everything the Jedi had once sought to teach him.
The quake in the Force that marked Anakin’s decision to join the Sith had been so great that not even former close friends, such as Ahsoka and Obi-Wan could feel his presence. Both of them believed that Anakin was no more. And, in a very real sense, he was gone.
This goes with what the movies says and what Ahsoka senses in the final arc of TCW Season 7.
Palpatine is always Palpatine.
Dooku is always Dooku.
Why, then, is it so hard for some to fathom that Anakin is always Anakin?
If Palpatine is not Sidious, and Dooku is not Tyranus; then Anakin is not Vader.
Anakin is Anakin.
Always.
The Dark Side does not simply possess one person like some demon, yet allow everyone else to remain themselves throughout.

BONUS stuff from the AOTC screenplay...
Tumblr media
1. Yoda probing the Dark Side.
In an earlier draft of the Attack of the Clones screenplay, Scene 51 (which I've already talked about here) ends with this comment by Mace, where he explains what Yoda is doing up in his quarters, followed up by Scene 52, showing Yoda meditating:
Tumblr media
And it turns out, this is actually a mini plot point in this draft!
Since Qui-Gon's death, the Jedi are actually on the lookout for the remaining Sith Lord, waiting to sense even a trace of him... but then this happens.
Tumblr media
And, like, nobody saw it coming! What the hell!
So that leads to this other cut scene (originally set right after Obi-Wan tells Anakin that Padmé "was happy to see us"), Scene 12, which features an evening conversation between Mace Windu and Yoda.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Yoda says "the dark side of the Force clouds everything", that's not just an expression to say 'he doesn't know'.
The Dark Side has tainted everything around the Jedi, and THAT'S why the Sith have an advantage. Because they're used to it. They were 'born in the dark, molded by it'.
As a result... in this situation, they're the only ones who can foresee the possibilities of the future, while the Jedi are pretty much walking blind, in a fog.
It's not just that the Sith Lord is a master politician and the Jedi are politically inept. It's that, right now, he's the only one who can truly see the future and roll with it, while the only thing the Jedi can do is go forward, have their guard up and hope for the best.
Which a concept explored in the non-canon comic Sithisis from Star Wars: Visionaries (which, if I recall, was created by Derek Thompson after his regular interactions with George Lucas and a 45-minute interview with Ian McDiarmid)!
Tumblr media
2. "Sifo-Dyas", aka Sidious
Okay, so some of y'all probably already knew this tidbit. I did, but didn't know it was in this draft of the script so it was a fun surprise:
Tumblr media
Sifo-Dyas was originally a pseudonym used by Darth Sidious.
Throughout the script, his name is spelled "Sido-Dyas" (which sounds a lot more like "Sidious").
Tumblr media
And when it comes to the mysterious Sido-Dyas, the Jedi talk about him like they've never heard of him before and full-on say he's an imposter.
Tumblr media
At some point, there ended up being a typo in the scene where Obi-Wan talks to Lama Su, and the word was mispelled "Sifo-Dyas" and eventually Lucas decided to make him a different character.
Also the Tyranus who hired Jango Fett is referred to as "Darth Tyranus", in this draft, which I guess was changed because it was gonna be to obvious.
Tumblr media
But it does indicate that after TPM, they concluded that Darth Maul was the Master, not the Apprentice.
3. Are Yoda and Padmé friends...?
Okay so there's this moment here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yoda taps Padmé with his cane!
Tumblr media
Thus CONFIRMING that poking/tapping/hitting people with his cane is Yoda's love language!
Seconds later, there's also this line where Yoda tells Padmé to reign the selflessness and politics back and accept their help:
Tumblr media
First off, I'm just picturing Padmé just casually kneeling so she can be at Yoda-height and I'm dying!
Tumblr media
But also, like... he calls her "Padmé". They're on a first-name basis!
To me, that's gotta be an implication that in the 10 years between TPM and AOTC... I dunno, Padmé visited the Temple while Anakin was off-planet or just met Yoda at a meeting, and now they've formed a bond and they're pals.
If that's the case, then their Ilum mission in Clone Wars (2003) takes a whole new aspect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if we're rolling with this idea... how much of Padmé did Yoda see in Luke?? None? Some?
I think it's a case of when Luke is screwing up royally "he's just like Anakin ffs" and then the few times he's actually listening "nice to see you inherited some of your mother's sense!"
Bear in mind, these bits of dialog never made it on the screen but they did make it to the "final" version of the screenplay published in The Art of Attack of the Clones. So if I had to guess the reason for deletion, it was probably for pacing purposes.
Bonus:
Yoda introducing the younglings in his care is such an adorable thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just in general, this scene is great. George Lucas had this to say in the AOTC commentary track:
"This is a chance for me to play with that more mischievous side of his character and get away from the 'official, serious Yoda' that ends up [...] on the Jedi Council, where he really isn't allowed to be as fun and tease people. In this environment with the kids, he's able to lighten up a little bit, which I really wanted to do for his character. It's much more what his character is in the other movies, especially in Empire Strikes Back."
But also... like Yoda is hyping up the younglings! Is that a thing?
Did Dooku & Yoda have competitions and introduce their respective clans like hype men? I'm picturing a scene where Yoda's like:
Yoda: "To a competition, the mighty Bear Clan challenges the Thranta Clan!" Bear Clan younglings: "GROOAAAAH!"
And Dooku is like:
Dooku: "The gallant Thranta Clan is ready to clean the floors with the Bear Clan whenever you want!" Thranta Clan younglings: *POSE MAJESTICALLY*
Glorious...
