Well, if you’re interested, here’s the reason I voted Apology Tour!

With Full Moon, I pretty much predicted exactly how it would go. The only shock to me really was the fact that Blitzo didn’t instantly reject Stolas and run, he actually did want it. Stolas just didn’t give him enough time to process, which goes ENTIRELY against the lyric in Just Look My Way: “I know better now, I must give you this choice.” Giving Blitzo an ultimatum and then instantly going “no, I know my answer”, is just so not cool. Don’t get me wrong, I am on neither side of the big Anti-Stolas/Anti-Blitzo debate, but that hit me hard. However, as previously stated, I basically expected Full Moon to go this way.

With Apology Tour, it hit me SO MUCH HARDER because of the sheer courage and inner strength Blitzo shows in going to find Stolas. If I’d known my ex was at a party with tons of people who hated me, I’d be running for the hills. The amount of strength it takes for someone to actively walk into a place like that, see all the ways these people imagine torturing you and actually verbally abusing you the whole time, and NOT running away? Blitzo is incredible. And when you see the face he pulls when Stolas sings All 2 U—at that point I was feeling over emotional just watching. I so badly wanted to just go and hug Blitzo.

And when he FINALLY faces Stolas and essentially opens up about his insecurities, a very drunk Stolas but nonetheless still to his face, and Stols STILL doesn’t get it—it’s just too much.

The final straw for me was the Verosika sequence, where she finally seems to realise what he’s going through and, if not forgiving him, then at least giving him a chance to begin redeeming himself in her eyes.

And the moment when Over U (?) began playing at the end in his van was just BRUTAL. The sheer agony in the way he hits that horn and then the cut to black. It had me crying.

i have to stars rant i fear. defensive musing (read: complaints) below.

there are many things to be said abt the stars defense. but one of the ones that fucking Gets Me the most is like.... okay yes ryan suter hater 4 life whatever. but it doesnt even make SENSE to have him and miro on the same pairing. like it just makes 0 fucking sense to me. no i dont think nils is the best player he could be and yes i wish they had been able to just send him to the ahl so he could develop like harls got the chance to. HOWEVER. hes not an objectively abysmal player compared to suter. yes my ideal pairing with this current godforsaken selection is miro-harls because. well. i have eyes and access to moneypuck dot com.

but i also acknowledge that leaves one of the pairings FUCKED with the remaining options. i would not rely on suter to carry nils or vice versa. also it still leaves miro on his offside. so i actually dont want them consistently paired at all if theres better options!

which there is.

if nils and suter are equally struggling. why cant we just give nils the top line minutes. we've seen suter play stronger when his icetime is limited (which makes sense! hes fucking old!!) and i genuinely think more ice time will be so beneficial to nils' development, since they can't just send him down. AND if nils is making mistakes they can be less detrimental with miro there, and miro will be on his strong side. for the first time in fucking years. i know, i know he can handle playing on the right side. but think about how fucking crazy he would be if he finally got a chance on his left.

as pdb-and-current-coaches-in-general positive as i am i also acknowledge that the way they use miro is fucking abysmal. i talk abt it. a lot. i hate that theyre wasting some really good years from him by just making him cover for the defensive mistakes of everyone around him. every year it's "well why isnt our miro a norris contender? this is offensive!" from the org while they're actively doing everything to stop his opportunities to be one. other than ice time. which is harmful in its own unique way!

basically. please purchase a shiny new rhd and put nils with miro in the meantime. xoxoxo

John in 1x20 apologizing to Sam for stopping being a Dad at some point and becoming a drill sergeant, letting the mission become everything, and then immediately getting sucked back into that mission and not understanding why Sam didn’t kill him to get to Azazel in 1x22, framing it as I thought you of all people would understand, because when Sam told him that they were alike, that they understood each other, he accepted that Sam was all in, at any cost

VERSUS Dean seeing that Sam is in at all costs and reminding him that his life has worth too, telling him that just because they couldn’t get back the people they lost didn’t mean they needed to lose more people. When John tells Sam to kill him the scene is framed as Sam being ready to do it until Dean’s appeal convinces him not to, and Sam looking back at Dean before telling John that family is more important emphasizes that it is Dean holding things together, like he has since he was a child.

Because when John stopped being a dad and became a drill sergeant, Dean stopped being just a brother and became a dad.

mami tomoe being really lonely as a parallel to homura? who has (as of the end of rebellion) set herself apart from each and every one of her friends on a fundamental level? :3 :33

actually thats a really interesting parallel to make bc:

Mami didnt set herself apart. She is instead shown in "the different story" as being set apart by her circumstances unwillingly- She cant connect with other teens her age because magical girling it is hard work!! So she has no time to truly connect to someone beyond casual chatter during the school day, much less invite them to a tea party!

She also could not connect with other magical girls however, all of them either perished soon, had their own group, or simply did not really want to befriend anyone due to the risks of both resource management and possible danger that exist in magical girl groups. Her closest try was with Kyouko- who, as we all sadly know, turned on her.

The main reason Mami could not truly befriend anyone was, entirely, that she was a magical girl.

Homura also isolated herself from everyone, come rebellions ending. The reason she did so was also due to being a magical girl. But she was also isolated like this in a very different way.

Homura chose to isolate herself. But it was also because she felt that NOT being isolated was as impossible as it was for magical girls such as Mami- a matter of material obstacles that cannot be overcome in any way the world permits, rather than a high moral or material cost to pass them.

This is because!!! She is a magical girl!!! This is because her wish and hopes and dreams are all centered around Madoka! Not to mention her lesser (but present) desire to protect and uplift her friends too, as estranged as they are!

Her perspective that dictates that she MUST isolate herself from her friends to protect their happiness, is (obviously!) false. She assumes that she is evil and intolerable to them (false), that she is not and will not ever be able to BECOME tolerable and good, much less a positive to them (false), and finally, that existing with her friends as the demon she is is simply impossible (ALSO false, but Homura, despite all looks, is unwilling to let her friends suffer from her in any way she can prevent, and thus sees being near them despite them disliking her presence as a physical impossiblity, rather than a moral one)

Both Homura and Mami isolate themselves from the world due to their nature as magical girls, which makes it seemingly impossible to connect with anyone for a longer term.

Mami couldn't do it because it was physically impossible to her.

Homura couldn't do it because her reason for existence is so entirely focused into a single thing, that despite there being nothing truly stopping her from violating it, the cost is so great that it amounts she a physical barrier she cannot break. Nothing is worth more to her than Madoka, so no cost could make her abandon Madoka.

Homura said this, as Madoka freed her from her own witch.

"I wanted to see you one more time.

And if I had to go so far as to betray that wish...

Yes, I knew I could shoulder any sin."

This is said after she flashes back to seeing Madoka die.

In other words, should Homura be unable to see Madoka again, and save her, she would give and do anything to defy that fate.

That includes giving up ever connecting to anyone ever again.

Even Madoka.

i will die on the "karl weissman bisexuality" hill. HE TOLD ME IN A DREAM!!!! it's just a little messier for him because he really likes women and will not figure it out ever. charlotte hillinghead TO ME also has the exact opposite problem where she is very much in love with her husband and doesn't have any incentive (or freedom considering the time period) to explore her sexuality. the way she accepted hillinghead's feelings for henry, and was less rejecting and more devastated over thinking he didn't love her or polly, just read queer to me somehow. an acceptance because she's like that too, yk? (maybe a bit of a reach but i don't get to choose who my mind designates as being bi)

i like to think that charlotte-karl experience a spider-verse mindmeld "YOU'RE LIKE ME" moment over being bisexual but they're not quite sure why they're feeling that way because they have no idea they're bi. if you are me you will understand perfectly

on more notes of just giving whichever character i want the bisexuality card, hasan is bi to me too. i think hillinghead and her bond a little over that shared religious guilt, of having their respective institutions be homophobic, and the feeling for so much of their life that they're different, so there must be something wrong. it helps her empathise with him and they quickly become closer because of it :) possibly also introducing him to queer lit, and maybe some non fiction lgbt history books

and one last final doodle because i think alfred as the only detective with an active love life where he's pursuing someone would make the others pretend like they can be adults but they want to know SO BAD and they also give advice once in a while because they're rooting for alfred :) they're all pretty good at hiding how badly they're invested in this (think iris 'casually' asking hillinghead how it's going and the other two perk up in the background) like i refuse to believe any of them are totally immune to the equivalent of office-gossip

whenever will has a bad day at work (or just a bad day in general), and he's just sitting on the couch and sulking, mike will put on will's current favorite song and ask him to dance really stupidly formally like they do at weddings. will always rolls his eyes and pouts and refuses at first - until he sees mike, his wonderful amazing beautiful boyfriend, busting out his absolute cringiest dance moves to their favorite the cure song or whatever else and singing along to said song horrifically off key in the middle of their living room. and then mike extends his hands to will and forcefully pulls him up off the couch and twirls him around and dips him down to kiss him like he's the most special boy in the world (because he is. Obviously) and will can't pout anymore because mike's hands are so big and warm in his own and it's just them, being stupid and silly and crazy together in their tiny little one bedroom apartment and dancing along to all of their favorites. before the first song even finishes, though, will finds himself singing and dancing along too and twirling mike back because mike's dopey little grin is so damn infectious that he just. can't help it.

and this is how mike develops the Tried And True Method To Turn Will's Frown Upside Down (pun not intended) that he still continues even when they're older and married, because they're still stupid kids at heart and love each other so much that it needs to be shared in every way possible ❤️

my oikawa hot take is i don't actually think he would have piercings or tattoos. in my mind palace he is not a fan of needles. not necessarily a phobia, just.. not a fan. i could see him maybe wearing clip on earrings sometimes but otherwise.... he is boring.
