Does Zaterra or Outworld even have popstars? For comedy sake, imma say not exactly 

He was ran out of Zaterra and he was working for Shang Tsung, so even if they do he had no time to actually enjoy music 

So when he hears you're a popstar, he has no idea what you're talking about. You have to genuinely explain what your job is, what you do, what's a tour, what's merch, etc. etc. 

Like the Lin Kuei Bros, he has no phone. He doesn't understand technology at all. He's like a grandpa fr, so his interactions with your music is slim to none when it comes to music videos 

Explain it to him as many times as you want. He doesn't get it. 

You have to actually show him the video on your phone. You have to show him any merch you have so he can pick whatever he wants and you can sneak it to him 

Prefers you singing for him live rather than watching a music video but he watches them anyway because you're really proud of them 

Like Tomas, he likes little pins or other little trinkets 

Since he was in a traveling circus, he knows what performing is but you're getting paid and treated fairly which he finds fantastic 

He is slightly worried tho from his time being in said circus. You have to explain that they're two different things (sorta, not really) and you're ok 

Has no idea what's going on but is supportive anyway

He tries really hard to understand Earthrealm customs and culture to better understand you. Is he successful? Probably depends on the subject

Let's talk Apples, Bauhaus, Ads & Kazui Mukuhara's MVs!

I've seen a lot of people talk about art history when it comes to both of Kazui's MVs, but usually, the analysis tends to focus on more surface-level aspects. I'm a bit of an art history nerd, so I thought - hey, why not, let's look into it some more when it comes to these two videos! Particularly I am focusing on 20th century art.

Everyone and their mom has already deciphered the appearance of Magritte's The Son of Man in half (Cat confirms the similarity by making a direct reference to the painting), but I'm gonna be quickly repeating it anyways without simply going off the Wikipedia summary.

The Son of Man is, like many of Magritte's works, about not giving the viewer all the details to understand the work. His photorealistic style contrasts with his phantastical subjects to create a dream-like atmosphere and to invite the viewer to step into this dream world of surrealism he's crafted. "half" borrows the surface theme of not being able to see everything about the man who is depicted, his face being obscured, almost as though he is wearing a mask.

But that's not all! The apple from this painting has been borrowed to be a symbol in Kazui's story as a whole.

The apple as a symbol of sin, desire and the downfall of man has been used in essentially all mediums of art since... the invention of abrahamic religions and the writing of the story of the garden of Eden? The Tanach/Old Testament (and, of course, the New Testament) and tales within it have inspired a lot of art symbolism (e.g. crosses, apples...) so it's not a surprise this pops up in modern anime music videos. Hell, the apple was even used as shorthand in Snow White. If you'd like to look more into apple symbolism and its origins, I'd suggest looking into this article. Especially interesting for us and theory-crafters, of course, is the 'desire' aspect of the apple symbolism.

So, "half" and "Cat" reference The Son of Man. But one connection to a painting isn't enough to warrant a theme of art history, is it? You're right! Let's talk about "Cat"'s visual style!

Many people have already pointed out Cat's print, advertisement-like style with its CMYK color scheme and torn paper at the edges. But it seems a lot of people in the fandom don't really know what this style in particular is called. The combination of these geometric shapes with print colors, slick design and the Helvetica font has its roots in Bauhaus design — it's based on the modern idea of the "Bauhaus" style.

Students of the Bauhaus school were mainly involved in designing furniture, architecture, and print design. Bauhaus' design philosophy was 'form follows function' — Walter Gropius' (the founder of Bauhaus) goal with his school was to streamline design as a whole and make mass production of designs possible. This led to a rather strict design process - students were encouraged to follow the school's motto and not add 'unnecessary' elements to their designs. This is why, more than 100 years later, designs developed in the Bauhaus school are still being used for print media and furniture.

Why is this important? What I want you to focus on in that aspect of "Cat"'s design is the inherent strictness that came with this philosophy of design. Bauhaus designs followed purpose rather than simply existing for art's sake (even originally being created with more political ideas, that being socialism, in mind).

In contrast to this, let's focus on what Bauhaus' groundwork design was used for in the late 20th century.

You might recognize the advertisement style presentation from more recent Pop Art works such as Roy Lichtenstein's big canvas works or, more famously, some of Andy Warhol's print works, which were also made by utilizing similar techniques in color and print. Particularly, you might have also drawn connections to Andy Warhol's Marylin Monroe prints.

Pop Art is (in)famously one of the most modern-culture-heavy art periods. Pop Art is all about consumerism and ads. And, in turn, consumerism and ads are about society, which is about upholding norms, which is Sometimes Also about gender and masculinity. So, we close this weird circle and we're all the way back to that suffocating masculinity theme.

The only thing in Cat that breaks away from the print ad influence is the ending section, where the background is a harsh red. That's on purpose. It's not really supposed to be part of the Pop Art world everyone that isn't Kazui seems to be living in.

I personally believe the progression from half's theater, Magritte-based symbolism to Cat's loud and modern Bauhaus/Pop Art style to be purposeful. Half gives you the story of a sad man trapped in a tragedy, Cat gives you the story of a liar who tries to embrace the societal standards that are suffocating him. While Magritte's work leads you into a world of dreams, Pop Art makes you face reality in the most obnoxious and colorful way possible.

And, really, isn't that just what Kazui is all about? Dreaming? Closing his eyes to escape the print ad reality he lives in? Waking up to see something he has never faced before, dark red, color splotches that don't fit into this ideal CMYK world, splattered on the sidewalk below?

;; their personalities and whatnot are mostly the same. minori is super energetic and hopeful, for all except three hours of the day where she's the opposite (luckily she's usually asleep), haruka is haruka except sleep deprived and the guilt complex is worse, talking to airi is a 50/50 on whether she'll glare at you or walk away and shizuku... we'll get to that.

;; their sekai is the fairytale sekai and it's basically a massive forest, except for the one massive clearing that has a stage. except the stage is not in good condition..

;; each vocaloid is based off of a different fairytale thing. miku (princess) and luka (witch) are their starting vocaloids, but (in order) rin (some sorta forest spirit-esque thing) shows up in colour of myself, meiko (mythical creature tamer) shows up in you deserve it! break time!, kaito (royalty) shows up for worldwide wander and len (also some sorta forest spirit-esque thing) shows up at some other point that i haven't decided.

;; the order of events is slightly shuffled, only because colour of myself needs to be first. because colour of myself is the "shizuku quit your job" event. did i mention that she didn't quit during the main story? yeah she never gets the push she needs to quit and stays there. -> because the cloverdamned turning point quote is haruai

;; which leads back to the "and shizuku... we'll get to that." comment. yeah she's not doing well. she's been balancing work and these meetings (one of which she enjoys and finds comfort in. hint: it isn't the one involving her groupmates who hate her) so she's stressed, dealing with perfectionism and all that.

;; at some point in colour of myself, minori gets really sick and shizuku is very iffy about it. (her and rin were witness to minori starting her "sekai research", part one of which was to eat plants in the sekai. something bad happened.) that's the most random fact anyway continuing on

;; minori solves her problems in every event by getting a whole lot of sugar in her system, acting like 'normal' then sugar crashing at about four am. which is when she sleeps for three hours or just cries for no discernable reason. then she repeats this at seven am.

;; group relationship wise is funny because. minori is more chill about being in a group with the other three (having worked out their identities way before they all worked out each others and having time to process that).

;; so minoharu is along the lines of "ruka-chan responds to my kindness with trust issues. what do i do"

So I keep seeing a lot of talk going around and I wanted to give my opinion and hear yours. So people keep making comparisons between the DW group and the MV group and I just wanted to make a certain distinction cause I think most people just haven't noticed. Most people, after the convi in the group chat immediately started calling Charlie "the Richy" of the group cause of his nonchalant attitude and his lil quips and while I don't not understand or see that I think that people are missing that even more than Charlie I think ADAM has more of Richy in him. When you talk to Eric privately he discloses a lot of info about Adam including that: he likes to play pranks and joke around, he's seems more responsible, and that when the group would go camping that Adam was the one who would gather them. Who in the Duskwood group also played that role a lot of them time? Cautious but not smothering, playful but won't take it too far (unless he was trying to hide something), and overall acted as one of the sweethearts.

Anyway that's my Ask, ty for answering :}

As for me, I absolutely understand why people see a similarity between Charlie and Richy, I feel the same, not gonna lie. It's the first impressions we have on Charlie and I really saw similarities between the two characters. Yes, we only have one episode but so far, there is a little parallel between them, in my eyes.

But your point witch Adams is really good as well. And I think this also shows a but that even though we see some similarities between characters, they are not the same and they have different personality traits and stuff.

Richy as prankster, of course, I mean, just remember Jessy's story about the fishes in the garage. And when Adam did the same, it fits. And yeah, biggest thing, as you said, Richy's cute little list before the group went to the secret house. He was the planner and the organiser. And I could also see him convince the other to go camping. Richy somehow has a camper vibe. xD

But biggest difference between Adam and Richy: Eric says Adams car breaks down quite often while Richy is a mechanic for cars.

And well, another thing, which is more similar to Charlie again, the stories Charlie immediately pulls out to tell us. And Charlie was the one to tell us about the police chief while Richy was also always the one who immediately explained to us when there is something odd about a person from their town.

So I thank to you, and thanks to the little knowledge we have about Adam, I do see the similarities between the three and I agree.

Of course we always only use the first impressions we had of them and yes, we only have one episode. But I repeat, I don’t think there's is anything bad with comparing characters or at least looking and talking about similarities. They all are own characters and they all will develop their characters during the game, but as I said, I think it's still okay to talk about their characters and how we feel about them so far.

Okay literally nobody asked but since I am procrastinating AND restless:

My final thoughts/ranking of the Eternal mini:

(warning this is a full on yap sesh and I have next to no knowledge of music except for the very basics feel very very free to ignore)

1. Deja vu: I have feelings for this song. So gorgeous, dreamy and ethereal. Smiling so big because this song exists blah blah. Anyway the way I thought this song would be #chillvibes from the album preview snippet but then it turned out to be #nochill kajskajsj even tho there is definitely a lethargic quality to the song. I was so gagged but despite the tables turning on me I loved it immediately. Also the very random (but very well incorporated) tabla in the bridge? Slay. Initially I was mad that this wasn't the tt but with all the melodrama and orchestral arrangement, it has a similar vibe to guilty so I get it. But this song is ten fold of what guilty wanted to be (to me, that is). And I think this song remaining as a b-side to be occasionally performed instead of it being dragged through the promotional cycle and losing all the weight and impact of the song is a good choice too (the song itself is not very promotion cycle friendly either). I can't wait to see what the choreo looks like.

2. Horizon: Very kibumcore as a lot of people have also said, I think so too!! A very unexpected sound for a taemin song but he delivered sooo well. I do wish the song was longer tho. Don't know what being the second title track on this album means as of now but it's worthy of the position I'm sure.

3. Crush: Extremely shineecore! A cute and funky little number! Got me moving! The layers in the instrumentals are neat. I got exactly what was promised on the album preview. Well executed. No other notes. Other than the funky vibe there isn't really any standout element so I might get bored of it quickly tho.

Can't decide between ranks 4 and 5 so I'm calling it a tie.

4/5. Sexy in the air: I definitely should have let my brain soak this in a bit more before complaining about it cause now I literally can't stop listening to it helpppaksnakms cause Damn... This is crazy. What am I gonna do now?? Jaksjksks My first ranking for this song was literally second last (in a derogatory way) and now here we are. Also I held off from watching the mv first because I'm a very visual creature and I get easily swayed that way so I was trying to be #unbiased or whatever. I still think that the second verse is a bit meh, specially because of the English lyrics (i don't even know why I was so pissed off by the "turn me down" that was obviously supposed to be "turn me on", it wasn't even that serious 😭) but I was definitely being too harsh and it's not even as bad as I made it out to be and it doesn't stick out enough to get in the way of me enjoying the rest of the song. The switch up after the beat change is soooo good I've been obsessed with that part (the horny choreo definitely helps :D).

The good things about this song being the title track are: it's produced by dem jointz (the production is interesting and immaculate), the mastering of this song is better than most tracks on this album, it is performance oriented/friendly, both halves of the song are tied together so neatly that honestly the beat change doesn't even seem that unnatural even if it's shocking, tm devoured this track in a way that only he can, tm freak lore continues!!!! but most importantly it's bold!!! and it's a statement!!! (instead of playing it safe like he did with guilty imo lol, musically i mean). My only real grievance with this song is probably the fact that it wasn't allowed to go full freak nasty the way it was originally envisioned to be because we live in a society or whatever. Tm was moaning and groaning and saying fuck in the studio only for it to be muffled and be barely audible on the track. The dem jointz trademark of an addictive repeated word/phrase being distorted because otherwise tm would be put in horny jail fr (horny gay jail even because its so crazy that they had another man moaning on the track like skdkksksjdkd). Some of the lyrics being altered hastily (like "turn me down" ksjsjsks).This song being called sexy in the air instead of sex is in the air kajskaksksks. Sad. Because if anyone can pull off something like this without being cringe, it's tm. But it's okay I get it. Also notably this song has one of the veeery few ethical uses of that infamous bed creak sample (by ethical i mean relevant to the song at hand in a way that maximizes the slay of the song).

4/5. Say Less: Very pretty, short and sweet, could have been longer. A solid closer for this album and definitely stands it's own ground despite being on the track list after Deja vu. Which is lowkey a feat of its own. The instrumentals are infact drowning out his voice a bit but I don't think it bothers me as much as I had feared. Reminds me of Truth a bit.

6. The Unknown Sea: I don't have particularly strong opinions on ballads but I do generally only listen to ballads if I'm already super into the idol. And I do like most of the other ballads from tm. However. He's singing his ass off here but the vocal processing.... specially in the chorus his voice sounds very tinny. When I first heard the song I thought it wasn't that big of a deal but now it is definitely getting in the way of me enjoying this song. Beautiful bridge tho, definitely the highlight of the song for me.

7. G.O.A.T.: This instrumental is so fucking nasty I'm obsessedddd. Unfortunately the instrumental might just be the saving grace of this song. I went into this track thinking I was not even gonna be able to listen to this but thankfully it's not thaaaaaat bad. But we definitely need to get tm off his rapping agenda. Even after listening to this a bunch of times it's not sitting that well with me. (Which is crazy because after first listen I thought his voice was more well suited to GOAT than SITA???) I do understand that this song was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek like yeah the goat bleating sounds are hilarious in a good way but tm is Not giving the hardass aura that he thought he was going for and um. that's enough for me to be like :/ which is such a shame cause even the arrangement of this song is so interesting. But yeah whatever this track needed vocally is not in tm's strengths so. I'll wait for someone to upload the instrumental tho so that I can download it and play it with the rest of the album jksjsksksjsjs

I think it's a good choice to drop an album that's just him coming out swinging after such a drastic career altering decision. There's no more room for regrets or dilly dallying and he's confident. Which is a good thing. Because it definitely makes the statement he wants to make. The album as a whole is interesting, all the tracks differ from each other but that doesn't take away from the cohesiveness of the soundscape of the album. There is a clear logic in the way the tracklisting was done, the transition from one song to the next makes sense (even if I can't explain it properly).

That being said, yes the production and the mixing is a bit lacking (along with the other downsides of a low budget) but I don't think sm has songs like this in their vault anymore so... You win some you lose some idk.

Overall I do see this as a win. Yapping over and out.

Her stuff with the wolves is so interesting. I can't get over the fact that she's so like an attack dog in her own eyes. But she's not very wolf like in her independence and stuff. Right?? Like her whole thing is she might follow someone's direction but she seems to be doing all her vigilantism alone. I don't look into analysis at all I just base everything off of my own thoughts so I'm totally gonna be repeating other peoples thoughts but she's so obviously connected to the idea of Little Red Riding Hood.

She's become the monster and maybe she's had moments of clarity about that. (Credit to @mayoiayasep for the image)

She looks horrified about something. But the wolf seems like it's experiencing like. Pleasure makes it sound weird because of it's connotations but you know what I mean. Like it's just eaten a full meal. And she's covered in blood around her mouth which is possibly supposed to be an allegory for her murdering someone because she's always on about her fangs. The descriptions of HARROW and Deep Cover say ”I’ll gouge you out with my fangs.” and “That’s why I became your fangs.” It's pretty clear it's meant as a metaphor for her killing/attacking someone. The screenshot above makes me feel like it was her taking a life instead of just attacking someone perhaps, and this was a moment of "I didn't think I could do that" but she can't deny that she enjoyed it. It's a realisation that she's becoming like the people she hates so much but she clearly doesn't stop because it's cathartic and it feels good and we know this because she literally attacked people inside the prison.

Also, the "past" version of her - the shots with the young girl where Kotoko is in the jacket? Yeah that seems to be a direct continuation of the last MV. It opens here:

So these parts of the MVs are directly next to each other on a timeline. The girl clings to her and Kotoko is obviously emotional about what's just happened and she hugs her back, right before the song has the like "That's why I became your fangs". So was this sort of. A way of indicating that this sort of reaction is what she does for at this point? She's doing this to help people and seeing them safe is worth it all. Or maybe seeing them grateful like that is worth it all. Unsure. She's either genuinely doing this because she thinks it's right or she's also motivated by the need to feel like she's moral and she's chasing the idea of that approval. Which would link to why she did what she did after being voted innocent - she got the clearest "your actions are right" she could have possibly gotten.

Then we end up back here, but this has been all drawn over. This was the setup she had that was presumably used to find that girl, but it's now all scribbled over?? It looks like she got frustrated that she's succeeded because now she's stagnated? There's moon imagery here but I'll get to that in a bit. The reason that I think that is just because of the outfit choices. Kotoko is shown in 4 (I think?) outfits total over the 2 MVs - the red hoodie, the blue and yellow jacket & cap, the white outfit and then her very cool Es cosplay. Maybe it's supposed to convey a jump back in time or something when, in Deep Cover, she's back dressed in the yellow and blue. But I think that it's sort of her "disguise". Blue and red are also (almost) complimentary colours but we will get to that. The blue of her jacket isn't technically complimentary to red but it's close enough. (Except it's not. Orange is it's compliment. I'll. Get to it).

ANYWAY.. the other time we see the blue and yellow jacket is when Kotoko is looking for information in HARROW. It's like it's her "civilian" clothes in contrast to the red hoodie being her "vigilante outfit". She's sat in the park with the girl she saved but she's not paying much attention to her because she's back to looking through her phone for information (or anything that could be seen as a go ahead to start another hunt). Another reason I think she has a motivation of needing validation for her actions is in the lyrics here. She sings "come on, rely on me, go on. I became your fangs as the long-awaited hero" - presumably to the girl. She's reliant on this girl to provide her with validation that she's doing the right thing but it's clear that whatever has happened was too far. The lyric "tell me you tell me "stop"." (Or, in a way that easier to read, 'give me the reason behind why you want me to stop this') which is followed by the line "don't you dare stop now, I want a reason for judgement execution, I want it". Notably Kotoko is back in her red hoodie and has entirely blanked the young girl - possibly because she's not giving her the backing Kotoko wants. She also throws off her hat as she walks before she transforms into the werewolf, and that item is what the girl had been playing with earlier. She removes it as she gets more aggressive, saying "I want it, give me the next target, I want it, I want it, give me the next target". It's desperate and animalistic especially with the visual of her transformation.

(A note on the transformation: it's clearly her becoming a monster or giving into her violent desires in some way, portrayed as a werewolf or some other creature like that. But she doesn't become that until we cut to the next shot where she's dressed as a guard. Her downfall began after saving that girl and then getting her flow of validation stopped, but she didn't completely transform until she'd been voted innocent. Because that was a go ahead that she was right, that she was able to go back to how she used to deal with criminals. But she couldn't do that properly because she'd long since started changing into the werewolf / the worst version of herself.)

So. Yeah. This is the first analysis post of at least two, if not three that I'll make. I think that what happened to Kotoko before entering the prison was this:

She discovered a kidnapping case of a girl (it could be trafficking as well considering the girl doesn't ever get shown to be reuniting with her family? Maybe it was hard to get to them?) and went to rescue her. To protect her, she killed the man who did this and this then began the realisation she had that she can use violence to her advantage. This is only confirmed to her because she gets verification that it was worth it from the young girl. Kotoko begins to fixate on this need to be supported in her actions and in looking into more things to solve that would get her this, she stops paying as much attention to the girl. Eventually, the girl tells her to stop doing this - probably because she misses Kotoko? - and this denial of validation makes Kotoko upset. Then she brushes off the girl and presumably goes to either: kill someone else and then get caught an put into MILGRAM, start killing multiple people (over a chunk of time probably) before getting caught, or to get caught for MILGRAM before she can take another life.

Being caught and put in this situation where she can protect people but doesn't need to be violent puts her cravings on hold until she's voted innocent and others are guilty. And we know what happens after that.

but i also query the emphasis on ego, and the getting to know them- especially in regards to the developments we’ve been seeing (especially in round 2) around the mvs and their sheer responsiveness to the voice drama content that occurs immediately prior to the song’s extraction.

like, several times, i’ve gone to play the new song for my friend, only for me to start, stop, and immediately go ‘wait, no, i need to play you the vd first to contextualise this’.

and it makes me wonder.

how much muddier the waters will become as we progress through the rest of round 2, and even more into round three.

i wonder if the round 1 videos won’t be the clearest view of their crimes that we get. there are certain cases, such as mu, where we can clearly see that she’s attempting to push an agenda through the video as well- but! its still the least corrupted view of the crime- the least responsive to whatever es has been saying, and whatever has been going on during the gap between rounds, and the least responsive to the audience voices they’re hearing.

i think the round 1 videos will show us the most clear image of what each prisoner sees their own crime to be. 

regardless of what milgram is or isn’t holding them for. regardless of how the audience interprets them, and impresses upon them. regardless of how es responds to each stage.

round 1 was, very clearly, what each prisoner thought their own crime to be.

round 2, however, has been a response. to what we think that crime is, and what our opinions on that are.

Aimi: The way Shun-san and Eiko-san treat Kei-san now is terrible. Naomi-san helps me with taking care of Akio-kun, but I still think she's suspicious. The video would have very pretty, soft and pastel colors, but more and more red and purple would appear closer to the end. 

The video takes place in an amusement park. 

Aimi's MV starts with Aimi's classmates running around, having fun and doing whatever they want meanwhile the girl herself just watches them.

It feels nice because you all are happy because of me and only me"

She also keeps looking somewhere, almost like she's waiting for someone to appear or she's looking for someone. 

She sees one of her classmates drop their ice cream on the ground and then they just walk over it. She comes closer and one of her classmates pushes her and she ends up falling and getting that ice cream on her face. While she's lying on the ground, another classmate "accidentally" spills their drink on Aimi and just walks past her. But the music is still fun and the colors are still cute.

"It's okay, it's okay, I keep repeating

I can take more, this is all just to make you happy"

However, Aimi's face expression changes and her eyes look more empty and she isn't smiling anymore. She clenches her fist, finally gets up and the chorus starts playing. She imagines everything being even more fun and bright and she imagines her classmates turning back and smiling, waiting for her to join them. She smiles back and runs to them, but when she's finally there, they're already gone and the colors start getting darker meanwhile the music becomes slower.

"No, something about this is wrong

Why am I the only one who's still not smiling?

What's the purpose, what's the meaning

Why should I be trying to make you happy while I'm the only one who's suffering?"

Her classmates go to check out the attractions and she still stands there, watching them. She can see some of them looking at her and talking to each other while laughing, obviously making fun of her. Her eyes become empty again and she reaches for something in her pocket. 

Suddenly one girl walks up to her and points to one of the rides. She asks Aimi something and takes her hand. Aimi gets very happy, she nods and goes to follow her, but then she stops, almost like she's just remembered something. Aimi lets her hand go and shakes her head. 

"Please don't say I'm bad for saying no to you

There's a reason why I don't trust anyone anymore"

The girl stands there for a second, but then gives Aimi a smile and leaves. Aimi continues to watch others having fun and now there's a drop of sweat running down her cheek. 

"It's okay, it's okay, I keep repeating

Even though everything is going to end soon

I promise you will remember this day as the most fun day of your life"

She shakes her head again and she looks around, like she's looking for someone again. She catches a glimpse of someone wearing the same mask from her T1 MV and calms down. The chorus plays again and we go back to soft and pastel colors and we can see Aimi's classmates getting on the ferris wheel, rollercoaster and other rides. All of them are smiling and laughing.

The chorus ends and the music becomes slower again. The sky's color suddenly turns red and the colors start becoming darker in general. Aimi looks nervous again, but she tries to stay positive and she sees a cute light blue balloon appearing out of nowhere. 

"Everything is going according to plan, there's no reason for me to worry

I trust you completely, I know you would never betray me"

She smiles and tries to touch it, but right as she does so, it pops and Aimi now has blood on her face and hands. She gets scared and turns around and sees that there are balloons everywhere. She is even more scared now and she tries to run away, but the balloons start popping for no reason at all and now everything around Aimi starts getting covered in blood. 

"I still trust you, I promise I won't lose faith

Everything is going according to plan, right?

What you had said to me wasn't a lie, please tell me it wasn't"

Now there's more blood on her as well. She trips and falls as another balloon pops right in front of her and when she looks down, she sees that she's lying on something. Or someone. She looks closer and it's very blurry, but you can clearly see that this person has the same hairstyle as the girl who wanted to spend time with Aimi earlier. But there's also too much blood. Aimi gets shocked and she covers her mouth. 

"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry

I don't think this was a good idea"

She can't get up because of how scared she is and then suddenly, a mysterious figure appears in front of her.

That figure is wearing the mask from her T1 MV. It's hard to say anything about their appearance because of them wearing a dark cape that covers their whole body, but they're definitely taller and older than Aimi. They help her get up. Aimi carefully takes their hand and even though it looks like she knows this person and trusts them, she's still scared and she has no idea what's going on. Aimi asks them something and that figure just starts laughing and makes Aimi look at everything that's happening around her once again. Aimi sees that there are no balloons left and the whole park is ruined and it looks just like that scary place from her first MV. Aimi realizes something and it looks like she deeply regrets everything and she's about to cry. 

"Oh, I see, so it really was a lie

There's blood on my hands, there's blood on your hands

Both of us are sinners, both of us have "Guilty" written on our faces"

The figure takes her hand again and tries to calm her down. Aimi takes a deep breath and it looks like she's back to normal. She turns back to the figure and gives them a hug, which surprises them, but they hug her back too. 

"Well, maybe it's okay, maybe it's okay for me to repeat those words again

Maybe it's okay for us to be like this

I'm so sorry, I will never doubt you again

I promise, I will never say no to you" 

Now, the figure lets Aimi go for a second and it looks like they're about to take their mask off, but before they manage to do that, Aimi suddenly reveals that she had a pocket knife in her hand. 

"There's a reason why I don't trust anyone anymore

Yes, even you"

We can see from the figure's POV that Aimi is getting closer and closer to them (and us) and it looks like she has not the best intentions, but right after that we go back to Aimi's POV and.. It turns out that she still sees a balloon right in front of her. 

"Don't fool me with that mask of kindness ever again

If they won't send you to Hell, I will"

Aimi smiles and uses the knife on it and the video ends with a loud sound of the balloon popping and more blood getting on Aimi's face.

I'm not gonna lie, the song reminds me of Turbulent Storm. From all the techno music to its progression, like it's calm before suddenly– yeah you know

But unlike Turbulent Storm that is catchy and can be sung, this Absolute Perfection doesn't really get stuck in my head.

My thoughts regarding Blackpink's 2nd Full Album

Hello and Hi!

A little bit overdue but this is gonna be a short review of Born Pink album.

Born Pink is the second full album of Blackpink, a south korean girl group under YG entertainment.

Just a PSA: I'm a Blink so I might be a bit biased with my opinions ><

I remember the hype of this last year because they rarely release comebacks! The moment I heard there was a FULL album, I immediately pre-ordered all versions.

Anyways, this review will be super short compared with the one I did with Olivia's Sour album so without further ado, let's go!

1. Pink Venom

Rating: 8/10

Thoughts:

Ok don't be mad but on first listen, I absolutely hated the chorus. I love everything except that chorus. But well since I keep streaming, it kinda grew on me 😂 Now it's my freakin anthem lol.

JenLisa rap parts were fire and ChaeSoo bridges were amazing! The "Blackpiiiink" chant was amazing as well. We sounded like a cult when we were chanting it on the concert ><

2. Shut Down

Rating: 9/10

Thoughts:

I LOVE this song no matter what anyone says. For me, it's one of their best title songs Jisoo's chorus part is fire, what a bias wrecker. I like the mix of classical La Campanella strings and modern beats. Also, the MV gave me goosebumps and made me cry a little. I've been a blink since their debut and seeing them reference and recreate their previous MV scenes made me realize that they made it despite all the hate that they got. My girls came so far 🥺

Also the lyrics?? Like hello! It's obviously for those who are dragging them down. My favorite lines are "Bunch of wannabes that wanna be me, me three of I was you" and "Praying for my downfall many have tried baby" like yes girls tell 'em!

Whip it whip it whip it is hard to pronounce tho haha

3. Typa Girl

Rating: 8/10

Thoughts:

This song has been stuck in my head for months. I lost count of how many times I had this on repeat haha. I absolutely love the beats and the line, "I bring money to the table not your dinner".

Lyrics is a bit of a pick me girl moment but eh, it's good and catchy 🤷‍♀️

Also, has anyone watched their Coachella set for this song??? The choreo? The creative direction?? EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. Blackpink headlining Coachella is well deserved 👏👏

4. Yeah Yeah Yeah

Rating: 7/10

Thoughts:

A song written by Rosie and Jichu! Finally members getting credited amirite?? I actually like it. It's kinda perfect for encores and ending their concerts. Has a retro vibe.

5. Hard to Love

Thoughts:

My absolute favorite. This is what I expected Rose's solo to be like haha. OTG and Gone are good but Hard to Love is THE song for her. This song is stuck in my playlist for months. The guitar is just ❤️❤️

6. The Happiest Girl

Rating: 7/10

Thoughts:

It's a pretty...sad song. The lyrics hurt my heart and soul. Maybe it's a song when you are going through a breakup.

I was shookt when Lisa sang! She has such a pretty voice.

I gave it a 7 score bc well it's not really my cup of tea (don't attack me pls). It's good tho don't get me wrong but personally won't have it on repeat.

7. Tally - 10/10

This song is one of my faves. It has a pretty great message about just being yourself and never minding what other people says.

For me, this song reflects them SO much. Let's be honest here, they've been through so much unneccessary hate. Everything they do, no matter how small, is just always under scrutiny. Like, give them a f**cking break 🙄 So yes, I imagine that this is THE comfort song for them. We say f*ck when we feel it \m/

8. Ready for Love

Rating: 7.5/10

I actually like this song why do other Blinks shade it so much 😅

whoa this is gonna get heavy, so i’m warning everyone reading this beforehand. things have changed for sure, i’d say... but it’s hard to point it out exactly. my younger self went through a whole different spectrum of human experiences. things were... nice(?) when i was a literal child, but it got gradually worse, worse and worse to the point where i moved out at the age of 17 and started living in a dorm in a different town. younger me was incredibly strong willed, hardworking and hopeful. i still find it super crazy how i got through everything i did and that i’m still here, surviving. younger me had so many big dreams and was motivated to follow through. i was also a bit naive, and i struggled a lot with determining characters, so i ended up getting even more hurt trying to maintain friendships with the wrong people and such. it’s not the same anymore with these things... my mental health has been a constant issue since mid-2019 (although, i must say that i’m doing a LOT better now — people who’ve been here for a while would know), and the world just kinda turned black & white... i think a lot of young adults feel the same though. i’m also super cautious about making connections with people now, which has been... idk, both good and bad? like sure, i’m a pretty lonely being, but at least i’m not hurting for people who don’t deserve me! also, it all just crashed down with the pandemic, y’know? it’s hard to say how much i’ve exactly changed, because i was brought up in a situation where i was forced to mature very early. and to be uncomfortably honest, i might seem a bit childish when i get comfortable around someone. guess i had suppressed my inner child too much with everything going on, and whenever a comforting/reliable presence comes along, it resurfaces 😅. anyway, i’m still very very proud of the younger aleyna. i wish i could hug her and tell her how amazing she is, how thankful i am for everything she did that led to me being here (in a relatively stable position) now, how the lessons she learnt through hardships made it easier for me to navigate through this complicated world... the list is endless. i just hope that a few years from now on, i can look back to this self (my late teenage years and early twenties) and feel just as proud for doing whatever i am doing right now ☺️

the song which came up this time is “to you” by seventeen. i, genuinely am, in love with this song. have been that way since it was released in 2021. see, i got into kpop back in 2019 through bts and twice (good times)! and it took me a lot of time to actually branch out from that starting point — txt playing a big role in it because i was obsessed with run away when it came out (still my fav title track by them). i came to know about seventeen on 2020 when left & right came out, and i loved it! but i didn’t exactly go straight to “stanning”, i just added them on spotify and just vibed along whenever it came up. after that it’s mostly a blur with svt for several reasons. until attacca came out on late 2021, i saw the rock with you mv, and was like: HOLD THE FUCK UP I NEED TO GET INTO THIS SHIT IMMEDIATELY?! i remember doing everything i possibly could (following their socials and stuff, adding all their albums to my spotify library, etc.)... believe me or not, it took me almost 7 months to catch up with all the content i wanted to check out. and well, the rest, i’m sure you can see/guess. about “to you” specifically though, my first impression was — “is it legal for a song to be this good?! did they put drugs in it or something 😭?” and it’s still the same. “to you” is a work of art, one that made me feel emotions i thought i’m not capable/eligible of feeling. i love attacca the mini album so much, from the top to bottom. what a gem!

So SO fuckin tasty, I love his voice fr. This song is searching for your own identity amongst the amalgamation of your family and generational trauma, I think anyway. Theres wanting to break free and also be loyal and loving. Just a very complicated song and feelings and I adore it so much. The MV is fucking fire too.

Birthday Girl by Raleigh Ritchie.

I had to put another of his because I basically have had his work on repeat for a year or two now. There's something about this song that I just keep coming back to. I think on the surface it could be about a physically abusive relationship as he sings about being murdered but if you dig deeper, I think its also about falling out of love and a failing relationship. Theres toxicity and abuse physical, mental, etc. that really comes through in how casually he talks about these things. He continously calls his partner babe and even says sorry as he "dies". Theres something really melancholic but matter of fact about the song and idk I just love it.
