My life is a nightmare but I'm putting off a phone call so here are some thoughts about Son of Neptune:

I missed Percy 🥺 Obviously he's got a lot of nostalgia and the jump into three totally different, new kids in TLH is jarring so the return to Percy is something I think you feel differently and are meant to feel differently, but man I felt it

This goes back to my TLH review but everything I like about Leo is present in Percy with none of the stuff I don't like basically and that's just what I noticed while I was reading.

I had definitely read at least part of this book before but I am pretty sure I didn't ever finish it bc the end was still new to me. Or it was so long ago I don't remember any of it. I'm really not sure.

I enjoyed Frank, for all his worrying and almost overly present anxiety. I think the idea of a "normal" kid in this world, where everyone else seems to really connect with their (dis)abilities was really interesting to think about and something I would be interested in exploring further

I loved Hazel. End of sentence.

I've mentioned this about other pjo stories before but I am fascinated by the timeline of this book (obviously the magic horse helps but still).

I'm trying so hard to remember other things about this book. I didn't love Ella. Percy was and is right to hate Ares/Mars (I just support him). I didn't feel much connection to the Roman camp/Romans??? I was a little confused by that bc it sort of fit but also now I just... don't care if they're involved/saved by the rest of the series. Like they just don't matter to me bc I don't feel that connection, and Percy starting to feel it was weird to me. But we'll give it to him, the boy is loyal

I cannot remember anything else I wanted to say about this book (this is what happens when you put things off kids). However, I, like Percy, am so excited for Annabeth to show up again, and to see all the characters meet one another.

Oh also totally wild that Percy basically got his whole memory back and Jason didn't but they started with totally different levels of remembering too? Like Percy couldn't remember any gods or that he was Greek or anything and Jason could, but now Percy just remembers his whole life and Jason's stuck with nothing? Maybe I don't really remember where we left Jason too though lol

Anyway I don't have the next book yet and honestly I'm half-drowning in my grad class + full time work just bc I am not used to the amount of time being alive is taking up right now, so while I really want to keep reading idk when it'll happen for me. I'll keep checking my local thrift stores for the next book and we'll see when the universe comes together for me.

slawbo 3 extended authors notes

just like last time but with much less medical information!

so! slawbo 3. FINALLY. this has actually been finished since like june UGH but summer was crazyyyy and fall has been too and editing this was a slog. but here we are! and it's even longer than the rest of the series combined!

behind the scenes stuff: so the bouncer/security guy, Smith - in the early draft he was actually a locksmith, so his name was a pun lmao. it stuck thru the changes, even tho its not a very one piece name lol (full disclosure, I'm terrible at naming stuff, both characters and places)

the original draft had sabo asking a local locksmith (Smith) to let him into his 'office'...Smith wouldn't buy it, Law would come along, and they would make out to convince smith that they really were dating

obviously all of that changed in the final draft but bits of it remain!

actually the original premise for this fic was JUST fake dating, and the handcuffed together thing was gonna be a different fic, AND the thrown in jail together fic was gonna be separate, but they all ended up being combined here.

shoutout to ruth for MANY things in this fic: i'll list all of them throughout, but the first one here is that she named the character Sangria (based on her holding a glass of sangria). THATS such a one piece name lol

so there is SOME medical talk here lol - so the bit where Sabo gives medical advice...i wanted to tie back to the last fic, so i had him talk about aortic aneurysms/dissections lol

(like the last fic, this is about AORTIC aneurysms - most of the time when people say 'aneurysm' theyre probably thinking about a brain aneurysm, which is a similar concept but with one of the blood vessels in the brain).

basically, an aneurysm is - contrary to what most people might think - just the widening of the vessel, where the dissection is the actual tearing (which usually leads to death) of the vessel

crazy enough, if the aneurysm is small enough, you just kinda monitor it 😳

so you can see that the aneurysm is alarming as fuck but not necessarily fatal, where the dissection involves the actual vessel tearing, causing blood to leak everywhere (and this is all the aorta, your body's largest vessel, so that's really bad)

TAA = thoracic aortic aneurysm; AAA = abdominal aortic aneurysm

fun(?) fact: if a AAA is large enough, you can feel it - if you press down on the midline of your abdomen, you can feel your abdominal aorta pulsating there - but if you can feel it realllllly far to either side of your midline, that could be an aneurysm!

(please dont worry if this is the case for you, your pulse can reverberate and some people have a wide pulse normally, this is very general lol)

anyways. i feel like sabo would do some hate-research after the events of the last fic, and that leaves him with some handy medical knowledge to get law all hot & bothered with lolll

what else...ah, northwood. mr captain flint northwood. in case it isnt obvious, his name is a play on clint eastwood: clint-->flint, and north instead of east lmao. s/o to ruth for LOTS of help with his character 👏

also shoutout to ruth for thinking up the whole 'multiple physical medical licenses' bit, AND the 'trafalgar leg' name lmao. it was initially a one-off gag from the first fic, but it ended up fitting well here, so we get the triumphant return of leg

law is right about the sternal rubs actually! that IS how you try to arouse a patient who's in a stupor - it's part of how you grade somebody's mental status for the glasgow coma scale

i had to hold back so many medical terms/bits for sabo's pov lmao. ruth Went Thru It while beta-ing. next fic we'll be back w/law and the medical BS will be back

northwood just kinda appeared. i think themed marines are soooo funny so i had a lot of fun writing him lmao

also, ftr, law really DID just happen to be in town lmao. that's three times these fools have run into each other by chance...maybe somebody they'll interact INTENTIONALLY (stay tuned!)

this fic actually has some ANGST in it whoaaaa. as yall can probably tell, im more of a humor writer than an angst writer, but i still had a good time with that

as yall mightve also noticed, i really love exploring sabo's amnesia (shameless sabo amnesia character study fic plug), so i really enjoyed having him reveal his amnesia to law and talk about it a little

that line where law offers to fix sabo's amnesia and asks to look at his brain - i've had that snippet written down since about 2018, when i first wrote 'make me burn the candle right down' [slawbo pilot fic], so i was REAL happy to finally have a chance to use it haha

i can sooooo picture little baby sabo hitting his head on stuff trying to see if percussive force will fix his amnesia lmaooooo

i also give ruth full credit for the exchange where the mayor says law saved him 'with his own two hands' and northwood replies '...the hands that have death tattooed on them?' ty for that genius tidbit, and also the 'pirates will steal anything these days' bit as well 🔥

i really like having law in situations where he isnt the straight man (like he usually is w/the straw hats), bc i think it's interesting to explore that side of him. plus, like we outlined in the manifesto, this is smarmy smirky pre-canon law we're dealing with!

so yeah, he gets to go full Actor Mode with sabo at the end there lol

not sure if its clear but i didnt really intend northwood to be homophobic by being vaguely uncomfortable at the PDA - more like he's just uncomfortable w/PDA no matter who's involved

i figured these two might need a little push to get to the 'making out' point in their little situationship, so here we have it

also, the kissing is SUPPOSED to be pretty awkward (especially at first), fwiw. imo, they're both pretty inexperienced, PLUS they have an audience, so there's a learning curve

will northwood return? great question. stay tuned to find out!

will sangria & the mayor of this unnamed town return? honestly, probably not, but you never know!

will slawbo return? YOU BETCHA! I have big plans for slawbo 4, and I also have two other sabo-centric fics cooking (including a sequel to the above-mentioned sabo amnesia character study fic), so expect those to come around this next year.

this past year was VERY busy for me w/grad school (sadly, becoming a medical practitioner in this world is much harder than it is in one piece), but this coming year i'll be doing rotations, so much more hands-on training and much less studying til i pass out. yippee!

that also means more time to write! I refuse to publish things until they're complete, so it might be a few months, but those sabo fics I mentioned are multi-chapter, and slawbo 4 is shaping up to be pretty long too. hope to see yall there!

brother crab's winter 2024 parting thoughts: majo to yajuu

GUIDEAU MY MOST BELOVED SHE/HE/THEY GUYGIRL OF ALL TIME I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I MUST ONCE AGAIN STRESS THAT THESE ARE THE SAME GUY:

ok so first

banging beginning and banging finale to this season, the show as a whole as some really fascinating worldbuilding (the most fascinating of which we only got to in the final minutes of the final episode) so i really hope we get another season sooner or later

the middle was a little less memorable to me but at no point did i feel overly disappointed or bored, it wasn't always outstanding but it was consistently enjoyable and entertaining to me

but now back to guideau

GUIDEAUUUUUUUUU WHAT A CHARACTER!!! i will be using his pronouns interchangeably bc it is what she deserves uwu (tho tbh i do not think guideau would ever give a single fuck about pronouns and that is a huge part of what i love about them)

it's almost a shame that one of my favorite guideau scenes only came in the last episode, he's pissed at a witch who fed her some stew that she can't stop thinking about and wanting more of

so she confronts the witch all like "UNDO THE SPELL YOU PUT ON ME" and the guy he's traveling with has to gently explain to them like "guideau... do you think you maybe just... liked the soup..."

looove his eyes, love the way eyes in general are drawn in this series in fact. also love his voice morikawa-san absolutely killed it and i'm thrilled we will continue to hear him this season in the omegaverse anime (lol but no seriously)

ashaf is overall such a striking character to me, not just in terms of his appearance but his whole demeanor and everything. i feel like we haven't even scratched the surface of who he really is or why he's like that yet, so i hope we get more story to flesh that out

i think ashaf and guideau work so well together as the main pair (not necessarily in a romantic way, bit more on that later) because their personalities are just perfectly complementary. it made the middle... i dunno, detour? to phanora feel a bit, i dunno, just misplaced. i actually really enjoyed phanora and johan too, but their story just felt more like an ova and less like it belonged smack in the middle of this season? anyway

absolutely obsessed with the final scene of the season where ashaf says there's still one thing he wants to teach guideau, and that that's love. LIKE HELLO??? ironically this actually made me ship them romantically less, because i really enjoy the idea of this being a sweeping notion of love. nothing so constrained as romantic love, but love for the world, for others, for soup! and for guideau themself

i would love to see more of this animated because the cast is amazing, but if it doesn't get a continuation i'll definitely pick up the manga (probably once it's finished... hopefully it'll be finished...... we'll see)

1) The Last book I read:

The Vampire Lestat. I've been slowly reading the first few Vampire Chronicles books since the TV show took over my body and soul lmao. So far this one is a lot of fun!

2) A book I recommend:

Creatures of a Day. It's a non-fiction and a good look into psychology in general and psychiatrist as a profession. Would highly recommend Irvin Yalom's other books too.

3) A book that I couldn’t put down:

The Song of Achilles. I read very slowly in English but this book had me hooked from the beginning and I finished it in one weekend. This was actually a few years ago now but I haven't had the same experience since. (If anyone knows anything that is the same but like...different, please let me know alskjdf)

4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):

This Is Going to Hurt. I really liked the humor in the book when the topic is so serious. It's about working in health care and especially in the OB ward. Witnessing life and death daily can't be easy, but Adam Kay makes it easy to read.

5) A book on my TBR:

The Red Sorghum. It's been on my TBR since it won the Nobel prize lmao. The theme is very heavy though, but anyway, one day I will read, even just for the nobel.

6) A book I’ve put down:

All the Light We Cannot See. The writing is beautiful but the WWII story just doesn't draw me in as much. Maybe one day I will go back to it.

7) A book on my wish list:

Can I put an unpublished book here? The Winds of Winter lol, if I can be cheeky for a bit. Watching House of the Dragon really just brought me back into my asoiaf era. I feel sixteen again and piecing together all the clues for the sequel and thinking about all the theories. Unfortunately it is still very much a wish list.

8) A favorite book from childhood:

Journey to the West! Who doesn't love an adventure story about four besties going on a road trip that is full of cool monsters of the week? Also the whole book is metaphor for buddhist enlightenment. So it really contains multitudes.

9) A book you would give to a friend:

Silver in the Wood. It's a short novel that I brought to a long flight and just finished in one go. It makes you feel like you've just taken a little walk in the forest. It's a light read that makes a perfect gift!

10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own:

Does Evgenii Onegin count as poetry? It's one of my favorite reads back in university. Partly because of the adapted play I think, it is still the top theater experience I've ever had.

11) A nonfiction book you own:

When Breath Becomes Air. It was written by a surgeon about his journey battling cancer at the end of his life. It's one of the books that stayed with me, having read it after cancer being such a huge part of my life for years. I feel like I got some answers from it and would recommend everyone to read.

12) What are you currently reading:

Queen of the Damned. More sexy vampires! Some of them are even old AND sexy!

13) What are you planning on reading next?

Keep reading through the Vampire Chronicles until reason and taste fail me (or Anne Rice does). I hear people tend to stop at some point during the 12 books in the whole series. We'll see how long I last.

Not very happy with the fit of the clothes, but considering this is my first time ever patterning - or even making! - doll clothes, I'll give myself a pass. Wig has been glued on like I said I would need to.

I hit a small wall with her, because I was planning to make her shoulder pauldrons and boots out of foam clay, but the stuff I ordered was awful when it arrived. It had this weird jelly texture and could not be formed into anything, just a total waste of money. I always hit a mental block when I have to rebuy a broken/useless supply and throw away money. I went five years without a dremel because the first one I bought broke before I could even use it, and now that I have one, I will never not have one again.

While I got over the block, I worked on her gloves. Since I've given up on her going between outfits, I could just paint on her layered white sleeve like her official doll does without worrying about it being anachronistic. She has a long white sleeve on under her usual gloves in both her original & queen looks. For her fingerless gloves, I repainted Toralei's gloves from the Hissfits 3-pack. I left the spikes on them and stuff because I like them that way and I think Glimmer would too, honestly.

It's wild how much adding the gloves feels like it brought her together and "finished" her. Almost like character designers know what they're doing LOL. Anyway, I went to the store today to get new clay and wasn't careful with the labels. I actually got the clay right next to the foam clay, which is still an airdry clay, but it's not foam. At this point I'm just using it for her shoulder pauldrons, but it's not going to work for making boots from. I've made bases formed to the bottom of her feet and once they dry... I guess I'm patterning a boot, now. Kinda scared and a lot out of my depth, ngl.

"Todo"s that aren't actually slated for right now are to make her staff and possibly "finish" her faceup. For her staff, I'm basically waiting for the perfect piece of trash to be generated LOL. At some point I'll get something on a stick that will be perfect for it, so until then I'm not worrying about it and certainly not buying anything. For her faceup, I think it's super cute and love it as is, but she doesn't have any eyelashes. This was on purpose, because I was going to give her 3d lashes, but now I'm on the fence about having any at all because without them she matches the show artstyle. It's something I can easily add later, so I'm basically just seeing how I feel as I continue this series and have more of the dolls all besides each other. So, I may or may not add lashes, drawn or 3d, later down the line. We'll see!

Next steps: Finish and paint pauldrons, pattern and assemble the boots... And then that's it! (I say like that second thing isn't the most intimidating thing I've encountered doll customizing thus far)

I just finished it and immediately came to reply to this ask since I know I've been sitting on it for a long time (sorry!), so you're getting my freshest thoughts lol

I enjoyed it! And it was nice to see a slightly more slice of life quest that didn't have world altering consequences (which I know is the whole point of the book, small waves and all that) and I enjoyed that message.

Percabeth moments were cute, love seeing how comfortable they are with each other, especially since the last time was the war and hell and all that.

I'd somewhat forgotten the Rick Riordan writing style since it's been a minute and to read it when the characters are so much older felt like a callback.

Also having Grover involved, it was nice to see the three of them together again. Overall, it was a really sweet book, the ending especially with the old age stuff. (Trying not to spoil in case people haven't read it though I suspect I'm the one super late to the party)

Anyway, hoping this will help inspire some canon oneshots in my writing :P but we'll see lol

SECRET QUARTET UPDATES

I was waiting impatiently for the poll to finish and dare I say, I have never been more excited for the next part- especially because this is set after the first installation. Now, one thing I'm sure all of you are curious about: can ghosts be stanked?

Much like what I said about Akumas, no- this simply isn't possible for, well, a few reasons but that will come later, so you'll just have to wait! (as for halfas, the answer to that question is also being left ambiguous-)

This does mean that whatever happens in the next part won’t be involving ghosts being affected by the Sorcerer’s magic- now whether ghosts exist inside Norrisville, well, we’ll just have to see won’t we? I do like to think ghosts aren't a common phenomenon everywhere because of other reasons

For now, these are my current forming ideas. Either Danny ends up in Norrisville somehow (which would be partially dependent on the timeline-), or Randy is sent to Amity Park as a result of... other reasons. This is a bare minimum draft to say the least and I have some stuff that will be included immediately and the rest will be added in as the series continues!

I will say that Danny’s going to be having a time if he’s the one to arrive in Norrisville. Poor Danny gets to go through the burner during a lot of this- he is one of the protagonists after all hahaha

Though I decided to use this time to explain some of the lore and information about this AU people are still interested in (which I’m admittedly surprised about-), so without much further ado- let's get right to the point!

Also, one last thing before I start: this takes place before the season two finale of RC9GN for what I feel is kind of obvious, but moving on-

Lore Dumping + Headcanons

Something that was canonized in the first installation: not all heroes are aware of another- due to certain restrictions and, well, some magic of the universe... a lot of the organizations basically were sanctioned off to specific locations as a way of maintaining the peace. What this means is that clashing will go down at first- perhaps not between the main heroes but say, a certain council with other groups but we'll get to that later

Norrisville does not have a high concentration of ghostly energy since there isn't a portal (natural portals are an entirely different story; i'm more referring about something like what's at fenton works-). This didn't really need to be said but just in case! I'm shoving it into the lore dump anyway

Randy faces a lot of pressure just for being the Ninja but without the added knowledge of other heroes- he's genuinely living the best life and having fun while still being the protector, though we all know this won't last. I also will say this is going to explore the whole thing with the tengu but I'm not sure how much just yet-

Could someone else be shloomped inside the Nomicon? Hahaha, you'll find out later- I thought about saying it, but decided to hold myself back for now. I will say this: the Nomicon is still a sentient being and, well, who is able to go inside it (since technically, in one of the episodes, Howard did but I'm not sure how far into the RC9GN 'canon' it's set in-) has some rules to it

Danny and Randy are obviously different in terms of personality- having them work together is going to come with its challenges, but I do think they'd have a good partnership going. They just have to get comfortable with one another

I'm trying to keep myself from saying things about future installations lol, but- I will say that so far, Vlad has zero connections to Norrisville. This one-shot is going to be a little different and that's all I'm going to say for the time being

If anyone's curious about the difference in strength between Danny and Randy- well, their methods of combat are different so, do with this what you will for now :)

As of right now, there are no confirmed ships within the series! To be honest, I don't fully see it as important but it may show- just... not right this second

So far, this is all I got! It's getting a little late and I am honestly really tired which means posting will have to wait until later, but do expect more content soon! I am very excited for the continuation of this project to say the least!

For the WIPs meme I’m so intrigued by the omeluum/blurg one skdjks but also are there any zamasian ideas you’ve jotted down that u want to yell about - I’m mid writing a zamasian + lbf fic rn and always down to yell about them

Oohhh okay haha, WELL I wrote a sex pollen fic for them - clad in celebration-spores and tessadyle cloth - which was set when you finish helping Sovereign Spaw and he gives them fun mushrooms which do the sex spores thing (separate from my other series set post Iron Throne, so they hadn't fucked before!), and the wip is a sequel to that where they've basically been experimenting further with the celebration-spores and it's ended up getting Omeluum pregante! But ofc it doesn't really know about it, and because its been with Blurg and not a member of a colony for so long (and also was sort of an experiment with breeding anyway so it reproduces differently to other illithids), it doesn't really realise what's going on!

The premise was I was writing it as a series of lab experiment diary entries where they both sort of realise what's happening and then pregnancy sex happens and it's all very very hot! But I was writing it around the time the Emperor server I was in imploded because of anti fuckery and it kinda killed my vibe for it. I do eventually wanna finish, but idk when it'll be - I have 850 words so far tho lol, so not much.

As for zamasian, I have a few things in here that I've not yelled about before I think! To keep it on theme (sorry for non preg lovers.....), one of them is a plotted out long-distance omegaverse pregnancy thing where they've been apart for some time and Assad hasn't seen how far along Eric is yet (this one is bulleted with GERIATRIC PREGNANCY!!! lolol), and has been going insane making a nest for them both, and then when Eric arrives finally to hunker down for the rest of his term, they go mental with the scenting and the nesting and there's lots of cute sex. SO I'VE PLANNED ANYWAY!!

this one is next up that I want to write, so we'll see when it ends up getting done! I have candy hearts and phoenix down ex coming up, so busy for a little while XD but my dms and inbox are still ALWAYS open for zamasian yelling!! Although I regret to say I'm a ship purist and I don't like them mixed with anyone else 😔

2024 Art Summary

It's crazy that another year has passed just like that and now, in the blink, 2024 is over and 2025 is on the horizon.

I had a crazy busy year on the personal life level, so unfortunately I didn't find much time to do drawing or my creative hobbies as much as I did in 2023. Nonetheless, I'm particularly proud of myself venturing to do more backgrounds and I've greatly improved in lighting and the use of filters, as well as in drawing hands -- which is something I greatly struggled with in the past.

Going through the months:

January: Moon's Tides (Lei) - I drew this when I was really saddened by some of my friendships. I think this piece really conveyed the loneliness and I felt at the time, and I'm very proud of the lighting and the background. The moon seems to be about to swallow Lei, along with the waves.

February: Lei in the city (redraw) - This was supposed to be 1 year redraw from my first illustration of Lei back in Jan 2023! I drew the sketch in January but ended up finishing in February... oops. I think it's so cool to see the improvement that I made in 1 year ;w; I hope I can redraw it again in 2025 but that's coming up real fast huh 💀

March: Fern in a never-posted postcard print I drew of the Frieren trio in their winter outfits. I printed some fanart but it unfortunately never sold so I lost confidence :') I never posted this piece. I might try to redraw it next year. I really like the Frieren's trio's winter outfits.

April: Birthday Ceres! I was really busy this month and didn't get much drawing done T_T but I did draw birthday Ceres WITH A HAND!!! OMG!!! I also drew a cool-lighting piece with Umbra but her face is wonky so I don't like that piece as much. I think Ceres turned out SOOOOO cute here and her expression is sOOO pretty! Someone said she looked like a goddess and they're so right

May: future Lei piece in front of her clinic. I love this piece so much 🥺 A future Lei working in her clinic with her friends. It's named ELC which stands for Elise, Lei and Ceres 🥺🥺🥺 In my headcanon, Gigi works there too 🥺🥺 I think her expression is really pretty and I love her outfit LOL its not very practical but... FASHIONNNN

June: The mermaid piece I intended to draw for mermay but didn't finish in time T_T This piece made me think of a mermaid AU for MERtalline LOL In this AU Vail is a surfer and Lei + doctor friends are mermaids :3 Unfortunately Leii got washed up ashore and landed into a very confused Vail's lap. I'm soooo proud of this piece and I think it's my master piece of 2025 with the lighting + two characters + BG??? I popped off frfr

July: I didn't do a lot personal art since Art Fight was taking place during this month! But I wanted to draw Gigi and so I did! I think I'm pretty decent at drawing beach BGs and I used a lot of references for that during the time! I think Gigi is so fun to draw but she's also intimidating because she needs to look very fierce and pretty at the same time

August: Another Gigi piece -- this time her bday art! In August, the main series I finished was the bunny girl series, but I think just in terms of technicality and style, the Gigi birthday piece I am a bit more proud of. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED my bunny girl series though! I made some stickers of them and I really want to finish the bunny girl sticker series T_T I drew Umbra, Lei, and Nekoya in it and I'm hoping to add Charlotte and Ceres but we'll see... I might redraw Umbra cuz she's hard to cut :'D

September: Another birthday art piece... My OC birthday series honestly slaps. This one is of Lei!!! Clearly I have a favourite this year and clearly it's Lei because she appears in all my favourite pieces 😭😭😭 She's my muse this year and might be for a bit of time ;w; Anyways I really think I improved in my drawing and my Sept 2023 vs Sept 2024 birthday art of her shows!!! I STRUGGLED so hard with that hand she's holding up so I'm so proud of myself for finishing it ;w; September was a bit rough for me personally but I'm glad I had more time to do my hobbies such as drawing

October: Started getting busy again but I managed to squeeze out this VERY CUTE headshot of my OC artemis!!! (aka timberwolf, aka cyberpunk nova but not nova) I think every hacker needs a bubblegum illustration and this is the one I gave her!!! I just really like her expression here and how I drew her hand! I wish I had more time to draw in October cuz it was OC-tober T_T there were so many cool prompts T_T but I lacked the time T_T maybe next year ;w;

November: I wanted to draw so many things in November but I was very busy dying TM. So unfortunately I didn't finish many WIPS I started :'D But ultimately I think the piece that is the most technically challenging was this one! I had fun with the intense red lighting and I think it portrays the sensation of unease/ portrays the mood I was going for very well :3 It features a new OC, Lei's cousin Althea. Because I love Lei and I keep expanding her lore XD

December: I got to draw a bit more in December but still not enough T_T so many OCs to draw + so many cool ideas but too little time cri. But I really wanted to draw some more holiday art esp after last year... cannot bear to look at it anymore orz. I originally drew a very cute sketch that featured all of Lei's friends but realized I couldn't draw so many characters in a short time... so I decided to draw just the Ceres sketch and with Lei :3 Because #besties. ANYWAYS in the end, I really like how this piece turned out and I played with layer masks a bit too! My favourite is the lil hidden detail in the otherwise simple BG -- Vail is taking the pic! It was fun to add that messy detail in :3

I don't know what future is in store for 2025, but I'm certain I will continue to draw my OCs for my indulgent self and continue to grow as an artist if I continue to draw. Thank you for continuing to support me, and I sincerely hope that I can fulfill some of my creative goals next year!

Hopefully starting with the Love, Lei visual novel :3 It's still in the plans; just haven't had the time to work on it yet 😭

Okay yeah we'll deal with this first out of the TWENTY SOME ASKS I NEED TO HANDLE RIGHT NOW I'm not actually mad just dramatic this is amazing I'm gonna get so much writing done

Okay directors cut for Tales of the Steve Miller Au! I've thought for a long time now that I need to write a story about how Ezra gets his second kyber crystal, because we have no idea how it happened in canon. I read this fic a while back about the same topic that was a Star Wars: Visions AND Jedi Survivor crossover as well (which was super fun!!) and that helped inspire me a little

I came up with the idea of setting it on Pabu around the time that the Bad Batch finale came out. I also happened to be reading this marvelous Bad Batch centric series at that point, which helped a lot! Plus, they hadn't shown up yet, ya know? I went with the comics version of how Order 66 went down for Kanan (though the two can be combined pretty easily) because I didn't know how The Bad Batch was gonna end and I hate writing something only to have it contradicted. Sometimes I put up with it, other times I do not. Anyway, it was fun to finally draw those characters into this series, and I hope I'll have a chance to write them more in the future

I also took the idea of a cave system full of water from The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner! I'm a sucker for that series, and I loved the part where Gen is exploring the caves looking for Hamiathes Stone and nearly dying the process lol. OH and it was also inspired by that scene in Shadow and Bone season two, episode...three? Two? The one where they go after the Sea Whip. I always thought that Ezra would have liked to adopt the Sea Whip

The nos monster was thanks to at least a full hour of plumbing the depths of Wookipedia looking for an amphibious creature that wasn't Oggdo Boggdo lol, and it is truly a miracle I found anything at all

And last but not least, the scene at the end with Kanan was one of the hardest things I've ever had to write. I seriously thought I was going to start crying at one point (but I didn't! I've only cried over one story I've ever written, and that one isn't published. Yet. It will be sometime soon) and the fact that it got written is a gosh dang miracle. I am REAL proud of the way it ended though

Ummm let's see...oh yeah! Little sneak peek of the future: I have an assortment of other one-shots set in the Steve Miller Au planned for this series!! I've only written two others (one about Dev that I've actually posted, and one about Sabine that I have not) but I'll probably work on them at some point after I finish the main series. I have a lot of fun ideas!! Little hint of a story I'm gonna tell in the future: wow most of my options are super spoiler-ful. Uhhh let's go with this. There may well be. A wedding at some point *swan dives off of the post at top speed*

Okay! So I'm officially 100 hours in to my Doctor Who full series marathon. My current plan has been to have a simultaneous Classic and Modern marathon where I go chronologically.

So far I've watched all of the 9th doctor, the majority of 4th and 10th Doctors, and some of the 3rd because my first milestone was watching every episode that features Sarah Jane Smith (which I've almost done)

So far here's my top stories and how I rank the seasons (season=classic, series=modern)

Keep in mind I haven't finished series 4 (which I count the Tennant specials as apart of it) and the only story from Season 17, one of my all time favorites, City of Death.

The 14th Doctor specials get a little bit of an advantage for being only 3 episodes with 1 really good episode, though those numbers might go down or up depending as I let them sit in my brain longer.

I might also recalibrate my rankings, because right now, I might have an American school grading system where 70 and above is essentially passing. We'll see.

Anyway, on to the next like two months I'll be doing this lol.

Welp, Tumblr is back on the phone, and now my recommended page is absolutely fucked for no reason (but I still get funny posts about asoiaf so that's nice I guess)

still kinda recovering from the whole incident and what followed, but I don't intend to go into detail, I'd say a lot of it was on me and my reasonable expectations about other people that turned out to be way too high, I suppose. won't be making the same mistake again😘😘😘😘😘

anyway, on fanfiction news: finished the draft for chapter 10 of FQTP, it turned out to be like half of the events I actually planned for this chapter, but it already crossed 18k threshold, so I guess the major decision moment would have to come in the next one, Obito's too busy having a very important realization lol. This one is def coming on February 10, so stay tuned.

Instead of writing chapter 11 as I originally thought I would I actually got a bunch of ideas while lying in the bed for a week, too sick to do anything but scroll on my phone, so I guess I am doing an unrelated Obidei one-shot. I actually took time to reread Dealing with the Devil and holy fuck the me from the past had the sexiest and funniest brain, but this one is gonna be more... artitsy, I guess? Still sappy and fluffy as shit, but I gotta practice on my whole "Deidara ranting about art and stuff" thing, FQTP is entering its final stretch and following it we'll be back to Girldara's POV, I gotta train my writer muscles for the artist's ramblings💪💪💪🦾🦾🦾 (I have no clue about art and Deidara's canon rants put me to sleep, I just become a monkey with neurons activated that watches a blonde twink screaming and running)

regarding the personal stuff...

er, I got really lucky in Genshin this patch? I managed to get both Arle's and Clorinde's (get hers literally this morning lol) weapons and still have some savings for a guaranteed Furina, so that's real nice! Now I just need to fix my Arle's build because the crit rate stat on her scythe is way less than on Cyno's paddle (back to the Whimsy domain I guess. hooray. my own personal dungeon for almost a year. Hoyo let me out of here pls)

HSR was also pretty nice to me, so I got both Lingsha and Feixiao on this half of the patch and saved up like 70 pulls for Robin. this week finally finished up building my Ruan Mei (that I got during Firefly's first banner, yep, she's been collecting dust for a while at level 40 lol), now leveling Lingsha and gonna have a very pretty lady squad of Ruan Mei - Fugue Tingyun - Harmony Stelle - Lingsha. Yes, Harmony MC's traces are still ass, but my Fugue build is so fucking absurd it compensates for that (Phanty is gonna have her neck snapped next time my Fugue finds her lmao). I do not fear Erudition meta, Erudition Meta fears me.

Also finally made myself sit down and watch the Nier Automata anime and it's... absolutely fucking amazing??? what the actual hell???

honestly I can not thank Yoko Taro enough for this series, whenever I feel like shit I KNOW that if I open any piece of Nier series everyone is gonna have a worse time than me🙏🙏🙏🙏

But on a more serious note I once again got reminded of how much I love Nier. It's so cruelly beautiful and yet so gently ugly. It's insane. Absolutely hopeless world and still the characters choose to hope and suffer for it.

I remember watching the announcements being made for the anime and being worried that it's A-1 pictures, so it's gonna look like ass, but honestly... yeah, I can see the limited budget, and remember that the production got terribly fucked over by Covid, but there's just so much love in it? The anime is a clear love letter to both fans and the series. It's not something that's aimed at someone trying to enter the series, but rather people who have played it for hundreds of hours and go fucking crazy from all of those tiny cute easter eggs left here and there. I LOVE how they tried to include as much content as possible into the anime, like 3847827384 minor characters from side-quests and adapting them into something of a cohesive narrative (I say something cuz it's Yoko Taro and honestly it's normal to not understand like 60% of the plot after reaching the canon ending lol). It's just very sweet and obviously everyone on the team worked really hard to bring this anime together.

(though I am curious about how they've adapted the [E]nd of YoRHa. the true ending can not be physically translated into another medium, it's something so uniquely video gamely(?) that I am wondering what did they do about it)

they've changed the play bit into an actual scene, and for how goofy it is, it's still got some pretty raw lines

also props to anime for somehow making the Songtress fight even more unsettling than it was originally. like, A Beautiful Song still absolutely slaps, and the haunting scream bit at the beginning is still one of the most chilling things in the entire OST, but anime also got its own little creepy rendition of A Beautiful Song + the Songtress's story is a lot easier to understand with both 2B's and 9S's perspectives combined.

Well last but certainly not least is some words of wisdom from Yoko Taro lol
