it’s actually so wild to me that this fairly quirky YA type show gave both of its main characters deaths that can, in one way or another, solidly be considered hate crimes. they were both flat out murdered as a result of being A) gay and effeminate or B) brown (south asian, specifically) and you could argue whether or not those kids thought of it that way in the moment or whatever but the bottom line is that they would not have been in the situations that killed them if they weren’t of their respective minorities. like legitimately that is a ballsy choice for this kind of netflix show, let alone for the two Main Characters, and i respect it big time

I will never make this because it would be for an audience of one (me) but ever since reading "If we Were Villains" (story about serious drama kids in college who perform shakespeare and deal with a murder) I have been entertaining the thought of a crack fic crossover with High School Musical The Musical The Series where the staff decides they will no longer put on shakespeare after the tragic accident that happened at Thanksgiving, because Shakespeare plays would only increase the tension and drama. So they hire Ms. Jen who decides their spring play will actually be High School Musical (which exists in the 90s in this universe) and it ruins the vibe so much that everyone gives up on being dark and mysterious because they're universally pissed at Ms Jen for making them learn choreoraphed basketball dancing.

Another trope I really like that I feel is underused is Light struggling with his own darkness. Like,,,, it's there, lurking beneath his Good Boy veneer before something tears a hole in it and lets out the monster. I like it when he embraces the evil, yes, but I also really like when he drowns in it. He's in denial of it, afraid of his own bloodlust and yet still too prideful and full of rage to run from it, so instead he convinces himself that this is what he deserves. He can be evil because those people he's hurting deserve it. He can be evil because he's God and he likes it. He can be evil, as a little treat.

But not before a whole heaping helping of denial and fear :D

how many times do we need to learn as people that irony and hyperbole can be harmful because 'jokes' aren't easily distinguished from genuine thoughts and feelings until we stop rewarding people for speaking or posting about violence

like even if you're joking/don't actually believe that/think whoever you are insulting is bad/immoral/fictional therefore deserves it - ad hominem attacks always do more harm to the people who share those characteristic then the individual you intend to cause harm to or discredit

gloomy I can't stress enough how bad I am at this. once we got past stats and I had to actually come up with real character things it was awful. dragged kicking and screaming through character creation. also I'm realizing as I type this how little I still have in mind for this character bc I never even decided what gender they are. we've been referring to them interchangeably as "my new cringfail losergirl oc" and "my new weird little guy"

Kay so if anyone wants the low down on power ring lady ep. Main villains and divorced married couple shredder and krang are doing their whole bitchy whose evil plan do we do today thing when krangs ex shows up. Her name is shreeka btw. And she wants her ring back from him and is keeping the henchmen (slash children of divorce) hostage. And krang takes the ring out his chest compartment (hes brain in a robot body, but not how u think) and its in a little blue box and everything. and gives it to shredder. who loves the new power ring. but psych theyre gonna give the ring to their enemies to get shreeka to go after then and also hopefully lose there henchmen/children. (broken family 😔)

anyway the rest of the plot happens with shreeka's day out hanging out with. the henchmen. they go shopping (rob a jewelry store). find the heros. grab the ring. and fight until leo (leader turtle), spears a hot coal on his katana like its a marshmallow, and flings that at shreeka. who catches it. in her hand. but its okay her hands are impervious to fire. but the ring isnt. points out the mutant rhino one second before that clip happens. and one second after it raph (funny turtle) say thats why they call her that [shreeka] (for shrieking...)

1. hmmm i think akiyama tbh? i feel like people boil him down to shweepy lil malewife (and I'm guilty of this too) a little too often when he's literally a loan shark who makes desperate people jump through bizarre reality tv bullshit to get help from him, stuff that's kinda unnecessary when he's got scrooge mcduck money. it's literally his main shtick as the lifeline of kamurocho. i think he's fundamentally meritocratic and odd and also he was volunteered to kill a guy so kiryu didn't have to which is just. he's down to kill ok you random civilian you. and i think it should be explored more!! i don't think that i have a great grasp on his character but i feel like he's more sleazy and cold and weird and maybe even shallow than people make him out to be? let him be morally gray. if you love him love him anyway, those bits included, yeah?

17. i am SHOCKED there is not more haruka-centric content??? like stuff from her perspective, about her life, exploring her experiences and feelings, etc. she's a pretty important character and yeah she's like young and whatever but that's OUR girl y'know. she's our sweetie pie give her the spotlight. doesn't even have to be fluffy either go make her be angsty and/or evil idk. i think ppl wanna focus on kiryu in their interactions and i get that bc i love kiryu being a father stuff but she's a person too is all. also saejima is quite important and he's barely in short form content??? he gets more attention in fics but no one wants to draw him. are you scared of his big bald head???? well I'm not. should go draw him he's funny
