your moodboard has to include the instrument you chose. that being a microphone, bass, guitar, or drums. once you know all of your members, discuss a name. this will be easier for me to track all the entries. you also have to all agree on a song and add lyrics of that song to your moodboard.

THANK U FOR INDULGING ME LIKE THIS <3 i couldn’t possibly pick one single moment so i’ll just keep going until i can’t add any more images

i’m gonna stick to truly underrated moments btw, so no hot springs bonus chapter, no “if you feel the way i do, that means i can trust you to have my back in battle”, no love potion shenanigans, no “he’s stronger than i am” and adjacent moments, no “it’s refreshing to hear you discuss important things”, no cool battle couple moments, no “if you keep being so reckless, you’ll get yourself killed”, no “you can still live” (and definitely not those last two in relation to each other…... that’s already its own post actually). on that note, i’m also not gonna be including anything i’ve already posted about even if it’d technically count otherwise. was this an excuse to mention all of those moments anyway? perhaps! but u asked for underrated and underrated i shall deliver. ready? let’s go! <3

the first moment that comes to mind is this one from ch 135. like gija doesn’t tend to think things through often (he’s far from stupid; he’s just not a Thinker), but this—finding a way to use mizari’s interest in their powers to their advantage, in this case specifically to help jaeha—is just so endlessly interesting to me

i also love it when he’s not using any of those braincells that he clearly has though <3 like this moment in ch 155. it’s also really sweet how he just continues chilling beside jaeha throughout the rest of the scene despite doing an absolutely abysmal job of hiding his hand

speaking of which, i love it so much when they have basically the same reaction to things (the examples below are from ch 172 but there’s more i’m not including). this becomes more prevalent later on which is just such a cute detail like yessss impact each other’s lives all the way down to picking up each other’s mannerisms <3

hi anon!! i love this question but i actually don’t 👀 usually when i write a fic, i make a playlist based on the story rather than the character themselves! howeverrrr here are some songs that i personally feel are very patrick coded

starting off with super rich kids by frank ocean… this song just screams patrick to me. like i personally can’t get enough of spoiled and suffering rich kid patrick but that’s just me.

while we’re discussing frank ocean, i feel like bad religion is also such a good patrick song. like a song about unrequited love for a character who faces very repressed love from other people in the movie just fits too well for me.

i couldn’t not include side hoe anthem the weekend by sza. she said cheater rights and so does he!!

something about patrick just screams situationship to me. maybe it’s the complicated relationship with art and tashi maybe it’s the tinder usage idk. at any rate i had to include casual by chappell roan because it just gives situationship patrick to me! (and if this sounds interesting to you stay tuned for the situationship one shot i’ll be posting soon hehe)

we all know patrick is the president of yearnnation so how could i not include better distractions where the entire chorus is just asking “will you be with me?”

i'm VERY tempted by drunk cup celebration shenanigans but i feel like people have discussed that extensively so if EYE were going to write matthewbenny i might want to lean into a very different angle and that angle i think would be pining. love the idea of teen matthew having a horrible horrible crush on sam back in calgary, and he was not subtle about it all so sam is so incredibly aware but he's not gonna do anything about it and matthew (age 20, not at all confident in his standing with this team) is definitely not gonna do anything about it. and he mostly grows out of it anyway, they settle into just being friends for real with only the tinest little dose of pining. and then i think for the agonies they should be juuuust starting to think about it again when sam gets traded :)))

but then they're together in florida and matthew seems (and feels!) so much more settled immediately and he's definitely not a little kid starting shit 24/7 anymore and everything's genuinely great except for how about once a day sam catches himself thinking about matthew like they're always going to be bumming around fort lauderdale today, like matthew is a sure thing, like there's no version of his future that won't have matthew in it, and that's -- well, that's a little scary, if he's entirely honest. he's very aware of the possibility of being split up, because it's already happened, and he's very aware that if one of them leaves it's going to be him, and he's still thinking about next year and next year and next year again.

anyway sprinkle in some on-ice shenanigans and some professional heartbreak and a dash of broken sternum for flavor and then eventually they kiss

Next morning. Jack sneaked out. Ji Ho and Vlad are still sound asleep. The main work of doing their Bond Magic is still on them and it drains them. Despite the devices. Vlad will hate it. He wanted to spare Ji Ho from all this...

Jack went over to the garage to work on their rooms. They need more place to sleep. He is still amazed how easy and fast these machines build furniture and stuff! Out of trash and junk!

Meanwhile Jeb, Saiwa and Kiyoshi went to the kitchen. Jeb insists that Saiwa is cooking today with Kiyoshi - to help him come back... Sai can't get over how Jeb put Kiyoshi over him. Saiwa had always been jealous of Kiyoshi and Jeb. Jeb didn't even hesitate agreeing to their fake relationship! How far will this go?

Jeb dwells on his own thoughs. He knows that Saiwa always had a crush on Kiyoshi. Everyone has. That's just how Kiyoshi is. But he is his best friend and he trusts him unconditionally. And he would do anything to bring him back. Even though Kiyoshi could never tell him much about his duties for the Council, the Resistance and the Temple.

But watching them together makes Jeb think if it was the right decision. What will he do when this fated-mates-thing is true? Did Kiyoshi love Saiwa all the time and just never told them because Kiyoshi knew how much he loved Saiwa? Did he give up on Saiwa so they could be together? Gods - the way Kiyoshi looks at him... Will Jeb be able to give up on Saiwa so Kiyoshi and Saiwa can be together? ö.Ö'

Ji Ho and Vlad eventually got up and they gathered for breakfast. They are so happy to be all together again <3 Ji Ho couldn't avoid to bring up the fact that they'll have to pay back Francine, Rubyn, Dtui and Leander (Vlad growled when he heard Ji Ho mentioning him ^^') for their help. But all of them agreed that they'd happily earn money the best they can to pay back. This place - their home - is more than they could ever hope for! Of course they would work to keep and earn it!

They discussed their possibilities. Jack could sell his amazing nectar, Vlad his paintings... And they'd have to find a way to send their produce to the Muggle World. The Otherworld is populated too sparsely. Jeb: "Vanië, you could start programming again and even develop computer games!" Saiwa: "Uh - I'm good with computers - but there's a lot more to a game than just programming the code. I would have to compose the music and sounds, make up and write the story and dialogues and then all the design stuff and concept art. I can't do any of these things."

If only Saiwa would know some creatures who are capable of all these things... ;) (Vlad is writer, Ji Ho composer and Jack draws ^^')

After breakfast Jack took Ji Ho upstairs. He decorated a room for him.

Ji Ho: "Gods, Jack - this is too much. It even looks better than your room!" Jack: "What? Nothing looks better than my Space House Boat!"

There is even a bathtub at the balcony with view on the river! And Jack even made a corner with all of Ji Ho's music stuff!

Ji Ho: "Thank you, Jack. It's so beautiful!"

Jack: "You have the best view of all of our rooms. Right on the river." Ji Ho: "It's stunning. Wow."

Then they talked a bit about their 'learn how to love lessons' and pondered about how Ji Ho could be able to learn how to love Vlad... Jack: "Let's go to the temple and visit Arturo later. I have to see him anyway, my pain gets worse again. He'll have advice for us." Ji Ho: "I hope so. I hate to see Vlad suffer because of me."

Thoughts on Tony Stark being “female-coded” and/or the dadification of Tony by a fandom that kills May off faster than you can blink 🎤

hmmm getting spicy on a saturday evening i see

i've written here about how i think "female coding" in general is both misogynistic and transphobic, and i was thinking a lot about the "Tony Stark is female coded" argument when i wrote that. in addition to why it's nonsense conceptually, it makes no fucking sense for Tony specifically because his misogyny and womanizing is an integral part of his character. in the first two Iron Man movies, this is intentional--it's part of his character growth that he moves away from someone who pursues and views women as sexual objects, towards someone who values... well, the one "good" woman in his life, anyway. it's not the most well-done arc in the world, because of both the time period and the fact that quite frankly Jon Favreau does not have the range to tell that story properly, but we are very much supposed to understand that Tony's overt objectification of women, especially in IM2, is a part of the character degradation occurring in that movie, and is why Natasha is so effectively able to get one over on him. Tony is the butt of the joke in the way his misogyny manifests. which would be more effective if the film language didn't also, you know, objectify Natasha, but i digress

because most of the men who went on to write and direct Tony in other MCU ventures neither understand him particularly well nor do they care about women, his misogyny turns into a joke being played on women. these are men who think rape jokes and sexually harassing women in front of their children are just part of Tony's "genius billionaire playboy philanthropist" swag. the result is an incredibly confused character from the standpoint of his relationship to misogyny and the things that his misogyny says about his character, but regardless misogyny is an integral part of his character. any fan of his, of which i am one, has to grapple with that in order to both demonstrate a basic understanding of his character and make any attempt at a reparative treatment of his character.

if you do not recognize that Tony Stark is a misogynist, you do not like Tony Stark.

labeling him as "female coded" or otherwise ignoring his canonical misogyny does not suddenly remove that misogyny from the text or make misogyny irrelevant to the discussion. all it does is reveal fandom's misogyny in the ways it diminishes a legitimately potentially interesting character flaw and the growth that could be demonstrated by addressing it. what does Tony Stark becoming a "girl dad"--a choice i actually really like for him--mean in the context of his past treatment of women? how might we explore his relationships to women--both in canon and fanon--through this lens? how does all of this relate to his quite obvious mommy issues?

if fandom was less misogynist and quite frankly more interesting, these are the conversations we'd be having on a mass scale.

cort!! i saw that you watched exhuma and idk if you shared it already but i’d love to know your thoughts on it!

it’s on my watchlist for a while!!! and being the believer/superstitious person that i am, when i was deep diving about the movie, i heard they had to have a real shaman on site because the rituals they did for the film were VERY REAL.

i heard some of the actors even felt sick after shooting some scenes. real interesting stuff. anyways anyways, thoughts and reviews? 🎤

OKAY, so, sorry for the delay, ryū!! I wanted to collect my thoughts on the movie bc it's definitely one of the better "horrors" I've watched in quite sometimes. hot guy is lee do-hyun btw, courtesy of anon lmaoo

what I'll point out right away bc I feel like I don't have a place to discuss it is that:

there are quite a few critical scenes of the japanese occupation of korea, which was a horrific historic occurrence, ofc. I do not know much more than that, so I won't speak more than there's some tension weaved into some scenes. the nuances of that time in history is probably something I wouldn't pick up on, but it was done so well that even I could follow what was being conveyed throughout the film.

however, that aside, I think this movie did remarkably well weaving korean folklore and buddhism into japanese folklore and buddhism, from my very meager understanding of all of those things. the particular rituals you're probably referencing were very intense in ways that I can't even describe, they certainly felt authentic as well.

somehow, those scenes were really able to drag me in and make me simultaneously uncomfortable, amazed, and look at them with some semblance of reverence. they're exceptional, but they're not easy to sit through imo.

the cinematography was absolutely one of the best things about this film—everything was shot so thoroughly, so beautifully, so thoughtfully and meaningfully. the cast and acting were spectacular; they put together a really good team.

as for the horror aspect of the movie: I would put it anywhere in my top ten for being "scary", but it was sufficiently spooky when it needed to be and relied more heavily on atmosphere to unnerve you and get the scares across, which I think it accomplished. there is some amount of gore, but I wouldn't say it's gratuitous in any way imo.

the plot itself is heavily steeped in the folklore and the historical occupation that I mentioned earlier and it never really gets away from that, which I can respect and appreciate. the directors and producers clearly had a solid objective and they stuck with it until the end.

my advice is to make sure that you're REALLY tuned into this movie if you want to stay on top of the plot. it isn't one of those horror movies where you can be in-and-out of it and still expect to achieve full effect of what the film crew was trying to accomplish, and still expect to know what's really going on.

bc they have separate "parts" which are telling a bigger story thru stacking different pieces on top of each other. so you NEED to pay attention.

overall, I really really really really loved this movie. I love watching different cultural/folklore takes on different things within the horror genre and I think that exhuma did it so beautifully

i have so many insane thoughts on selfshipping since i started doing it essentially by accident around 2 years ago but really in retrospect, i sort of did it my whole life whenever i was writing stories for fun... anyway:

i think selfshipping is such a great creative outlet because it really gets you thinking about characters and situations and plots in a way you can be more invested in because you're involved yk?

i think selfshipping is great for self-esteem because this is the one way you can just make things go your way you know? you can tell yourself that these characters love you for who you are, love you despite, through, and for your faults and no one can take them away from you

selfshipping is a safe way to recontextualize scenarios you have experienced that hurt you, or that were really great and made you feel strong, and sort of affirm them? it's also great for imagining what you would do in situations you haven't experienced and preparing for them!

i LOVE selfshipping with friends because you learn so much about yourself and about them (and i really say friends because it has to be KIND people who LOVE you because there's a lot of harm you can do otherwise and i've seen it and i abhor it), and it's a really good way to just talk and be vulnerable without having to truly just be like 'my relationship with my parents is damaged because x' and 'i feel loved when people do y', something that i think is harder to do with people you are getting to know

being more granular about the point above, i think selfshipping with friends is particularly helpful in helping you even begin the action of talking about feelings and actions, like putting the words in your mouth to communicate these things??? it's a whole process that i need to think about how to explain more but there's definitely some practice needed in like opening up about these private thoughts and feelings with other people like in discord or on tumblr or whatever

there's probably more i can share but i cannot even being to explain how many things i've learned just from selfshipping! there arenatural assumptions that i've made about people and relationships that were challenged by people i've talked to, and i've challenged other people's biases as well! i've learned that i do have a specific type and it's really related to what i value in a partner and what i value in myself and what i think completes me or repels me. similarly, the characters i don't feel affinity to also say a lot about me in similar ways.

and even discussing scenarios with friends, sometimes the sequence of events you choose when you're on a roll and you have the floor to speak on an au can say a lot about you, and often we've had instances where we had to like break and like challenge a notion. like 'why do you think this character wouldn't like you? why do you find that romantic? how come you made them do this in response and not that? why didn't you anticipate this reaction vs the other?'

again i want to reiterate if you do selfship with friends (highly recommend) they should be people you trust, because you really can get your feelings hurt

first, before i go absolutely batshit unhinged about national treasure, i went "aww" being addressed as "beloved on the dash." truly an esteemed title among tumblrinas.

now back to business. ur professor is so fucking correct it's such a silly feel good heist movie. and as i have discussed with my sister i am fully aware that it's something i can enjoy with very little complication bc i am both white and american but at least the first is a bit less like that than the second. all the characters have a boner for america or whatever just be aware but sometimes i'm like damn i wish i lived in whatever fantasy america ben gates believes in bc that sure isn't the one we have here. (if nothing else his speech to the president in book of secrets is good for a laugh especially in a post 2016 america BUT I DIGRESS) okay now that that's out of the way. it's such a wonderful movie. it's batshit unhinged you have nicolas cage playing a little freak who knows way way way too much about american history who looks like he's having a midlife crisis to everyone who doesn't know him and also those who do but actually he's just Like That. he's the fox mulder of treasure hunters with his emotional support nerd and they steal the fucking declaration of independence like. i feel like that alone should convince anyone who even knows what the declaration of independence is to watch it. it's fucking hilarious. they're stealing one of their country's most important/famous historical documents to keep some OTHER british guys from stealing it because there's a treasure map (A TREASURE MAP!!!) on the back. have you ever heard of a more ridiculously delightful premise. i wish every movie was like this.

plus the chemistry is great idk how they pulled that off but i wanna watch these idiots argue for hours. they're all so fucking snarky but in a fun way not in a "i am this year's 928474th marvel movie and i'm incapable of being genuine for even 2 seconds" way. and btw it's stupidly earnest about caring about history and wanting to share it with the world despite its flaws and i can't help it i'm charmed. AND as i've yelled about AT LENGHT it has in my opinion if not hte most iconic at LEAST the most gorgeous score. what the fuck was trevor rabin on in 2004. and also in 2007 for book of secrets. that dude is a musical genius.

it's as quotable as the princess bride (to me, anyway) and like idk man it's genuinely funny and absolutely ridiculous and it knows it's ridiculous and embraces that. and i love that.
