F-14 FUN FACT OF THE DAY #16

The F-16 Fighting Falcon and F/A-18 Hornet came in both single-seat and two-seat variants, primarily utilized as trainer aircraft. Unlike the two-seat variants of those aircraft, the F-14 Tomcat never had flight controls in the backseat, meaning the back seater could not take over flying the jet in cases of emergency. There were no F-14 Tomcat trainers.

Instead, they'd do a "flip flop hop." They'd have the new pilot sit in the back after someone "fluffed" the aircraft, aka ran through the start up procedures with another pilot as the new pilot was not trained to be a RIO. Then they would watch their instructor go through certain maneuvers, then they would switch and the trainee would perform the same maneuvers.

The F-14 Tomcat was one of the last fighter jets not to be “fly-by-wire.” The Tomcat had mechanical control systems that used physical links like pulleys, valves, cables, hydraulics, etc. to translate the physical inputs from the pilot to the control surfaces.

Many pilots miss the F-14 as it was the last aircraft many Naval aviators flew where if they let go of the stick it would not keep flying in that direction, needing constant input by the pilot. They describe it as being they last aircraft they truly flew.

Have y'all seen that trend on TikTok where it's like, "telling him night, 'cause if it was a goodnight I'd be bent over the counter with him in my guts"... or smth like that? Cause, it's making me think of Dabi...

I feel like Dabi's petty as shit, and he's over-dramatic as shit, so.. when he texts you, "goodnight doll" and you text him "night" with an 🙄 emoji, he's pissed. He's immediately calling your phone after that and actually sounds pissy.

"What the hell's your problem? I tell you goodnight and you send me some half assed text of night?" It's kinda funny, really it is, to hear Dabi be so bothered over something small, for him to be bothered over something he rarely says especially. So, when you tell him it's not a goodnight because if it was good, he'd have you bent over with your face buried in the pillows as he calls you his, pretty little doll.

Now.. Dabi doesn't like you 'mad' at him, so he decides, in that moment, that you're right. So he gets up at 11 at night to go pick the locks of your front door and make sure you have a goodnight.. curtesy of Dabi himself of course. I just don't think your neighbors will agree with your version of a "goodnight."

when i see people against using the term transandrophobia its all "just men trying to steal the spotlight from women again" "trans men just keep bandwagoning on things trans women are already doing" "they dont experience things as badly as trans women do" "terfs focus more on trans women so we should be talking just about that" "theyre just using this to say that TRANS WOMEN are their opressors!! its just transmisogyny!" then i see people that actually talk about transandrophobia and theyre just. in their own communities discussing the problems they face, trying to get people to not completely ignore their issues, and that they deserve to be treated decently and not as evil or that theyve become worse or betraying women for transitioning into their proper gender.

i think yall who hate these discussions are just falling into queer terminology discourse and oppression olympics and infighting (and radfem juice for sure), all of which we say again and again does nothing but help people that want all of us dead. this shit is stupid as fuck
