Welcome to My Collection of Random Thoughts during my nth* rewatch of Good Omens Season 2
*only amazon prime knows the exact number at this point but I’m fairly certain it’s in the double digits
Episode 1: Gabriel’s fly lurking in the box when Aziraphale first takes it inside 👀
Crowley’s promise of “two minutes” basically means that he’s been homeless and living in his car for the past 4 years strictly so that he can be within 2 driving minutes of Aziraphale at all times in case his angel needs him I’m not crying you are
So here I think the key word is “fragile,” Crowley knows they are ostensibly safe from their respective sides but that could change at any moment so he’s basically spent the last 4 years in anxiety-ridden terror hovering as close to Aziraphale as he can to try and protect him from heaven, hell, and anyone else that would want to bring him harm after all that business they pulled in season 1 with stopping Armageddon
Episode 2: I just happened to pause the episode while Aziraphale is lying to the angels about his miracle and LOL Michael really outdid himself here (Sheen, not the Archangel)
Gabriel trying to swat flies and almost smashing the repository of every single one of his memories
I’m cAckling
So if Good Omens exists in Good Omens, does that mean Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett exist in Good Omens?? Do you think they based their Aziraphale and Crowley characters on Aziraphale and Crowley??
Episode 3: So I’m trying to find any hints or foreshadowing of the Gabriel Beelzebub thing bc tbh I did kind of feel like it came out of nowhere which is really the only issue I have with them. I found this one scene where Beelzebub almost ?? seems to be concerned about Gabriel ?? But it’s blink and you miss it and there could be lots of other reasons why Beelzebub doesn’t want to fail in locating Gabriel (pressure from/leverage over heaven, etc) so idk
More Foreshadowing Fly content 🪰
Episode 4: So here we’ve seen that Shax can just appear inside the Bentley bc she did it earlier to talk to Crowley. Shax only pretended to be a hitchhiker so she could be invited in because Azirpahale was driving so technically she needed permission to cross the threshold of an angel 👀
This scene will never not destroy me the 1941 flashback is the absolute sOFTEST thing ever to happen on this show
We really need more context here I need to see the Crowley-Furfur Monkey Rides
Episode 5: ahahaha thank you google translate for absolutely destroying my sanity this evening
POP goes the Ziraphale
Okay I know you can’t hear it in the gif but just before Nina takes Maggie’s hand, there’s a very quiet miracle noise, like Azirpahale literally MADE Nina dance with Maggie, he said I’m writing a Mina Jane-Austen-Ball-AU and my otp will KISS godDAMMIT
Azirpahale seems lowkey kind of manic this whole scene tho, he’s controlling literally everyone to force Nina and Maggie together and whenever Crowley says anything that pokes holes in Aziraphale’s Magical Jane Austen Ball Fairytale, Aziraphale just straight up denies it. He wants Nina and Maggie to dance and he wants him and Crowley to dance and he refuses to acknowledge anything beyond that.
Is this just Shax insulting Crowley for how much of a nuisance he’s been or a reference to his former status as an angel ???
They’re both completely dismissive of each other when they’re trying to say something important and that’s the main issue they’ve been having this entire season tbh
Episode 6: I think it’s funny that Crowley describes the angels as bees here because in the book, Neil/Terry describe humans the same way. Guess we have more in common than we thought huh?
So the metatron was the one who originally decided Gabriel would be memory wiped and not sent to hell, and he was also the one that decided not to sound an alarm about Gabriel for some reason and said ‘just go find him yourself’ instead. The metatron has definitely got his own agenda and you can bet he doesn’t want Aziraphale up there in heaven because he’s a “leader” and he’s “honest” like that’s exactly what Gabriel was and look where it got him 👀
There’s just something I can’t quite put my finger on about the metatron bringing Aziraphale a coffee from “give me coffee or give me death” and then asking Aziraphale if he’s going to take the coffee he’s giving him…
I have not seen a single person talk about this since s2 came out but Nina literally calls Maggie “angel” because that’s the term of endearment they hear Crowley using for Aziraphale !!!! I’m still going fERAL over this and I can’t believe no one else is eitHER
Something about this part of The Final Fifteen compared to this scene from the first episode is so representative of the entire season. Azirpahale keeps saying “my way or get out” and Crowley finally hits a wall and can follow Aziraphale no further. So he does just that. He goes.
I’m sure a lot of us by now have seen this post that brings up how Aziraphale literally pushes the remains of Crowley into his mouth and swallows and it’s the only thing I see when I watch this now
We still don’t know for certain if Crowley queued up this song to play on their way to the Ritz or if the Bentley started playing it all on its own and it’s driving me insane
Basically how I am doing after my Truly-Alarming-Number-th watch of this traumatizing episode/season. WELP hope you enjoyed this garbage dump of my thoughts and feelings time to go cry for a bit again BYE

Ciao, Bonjour, こんにちは, Namaste, Shalom, Hàlo, Hola, 你好, Salam, Hujambo, Привет and such like.
I can't believe that I have been on this Tumblr blog for almost a year now but I haven't made an introductory post.
Here goes nothing!
My name is Meena (well that's my chosen name but I'm gonna make it legal too {soon I promise})
I have just officially exited my teens, but tbh I don't feel any different from when I was ten. I am neurodivergent (AuDHD), ace, lesbian and genderfluid (She/They) AND a Virgo. South Asian Queer Socialist and proud to be it. I'm doing law school and I probably should be studying rn but here I am goofing off on Tumblr. You'll see me going crazy about my hyperfixations which are basically a bunch of gay shows , film, art and music. You put Timothee Chalamet, Rooney Mara, Florence Pugh, David Tennant and Michael Sheen in anything and I'll watch it. I also love space. The cosmos I mean.
🌞˚..✭°・ .゜🌎༘⋆₊ ⊹★🔭๋࣭ ⭑⋆。˚🌌˚..✭°🌔🌜・ .゜🪐 ˚
I'm also running my sideblog @thegeorgiatennantblog (check in for pure Georgia Tennant awesomeness) and I am a co-admin with The Marvellous @sakuranova07 for @fightingalgth8rs
I also write a bit sometimes. I'm working on two Original Fiction pieces of mine if anyone wants to read ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
Summary:
Something happened in Little River 25 years ago. Nothing has been the same ever since. For years the town has tried to bury the memory of the horror. But when bodies start turning up in the town not only do long unburied secrets start turning up but also the harrowing realization that something sinister lurks within Little River DI Sylvia McFarlane has the chance to uncover both the mystery of the case before her and that of her own shadowy past.
Notes:
Thanks to @sakuranova07 on Tumblr who came up with the idea and a LOT of other people who kept egging me, at last BEHOLD, I have written THE detective story casting THE Georgia Tennant as a detective as she investigates crimes in her little hometown tinged with an element of the supernatural. This is an original piece of fiction and the characters are my ocs. The actors have merely been casted for the roles (bcs it is fun, helps visualize the story and also bcs who doesn't wanna see Georgia play a kooky detective).
Warnings:
Graphic Depictions of Violence (I mean it is a murder mystery) Scary scenes with supernatural events No on-screen s3x Off-screen or implied abuse, SA, SH, domestic violence, Transphobia, etc. (Nothing graphic or explicit) Strong Language: A-word, B-word, C-word, D-word, F-word and well basically all of them Not suitable for audiences under 15
A story of love, loss, death, coming of age, and found families. Coming soon.
Warnings:
Graphic Depictions of Violence No on-screen s3x Strong Language Drug abuse Domestic Violence (not explicit) Implied Child Abuse Might not be suitable for audiences younger than 15
So that's it for now!

For the GO ask game — 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 14, 15 please :)
thanks, ginger! that's a lot and i'm sure i've already answered a few of those - let's see!
1. when did you first watch/discover good omens, and how did you find out about it?
already answered here!
2. do you have any merch?
besides the book itself: a bentley enamel pin a friend gave me as a birthday present and some prints of fanart on my cupboard.. not really, sadly. i should get one of those bildad the shuhite t shirts i've seen people wear in tiktok videos lol
3. have you created any fanart or fanfiction, or really any content for the fandom?
already answered here!
4. what is (if you read) your favorite good omens longfic?
ho BOY here we go. there's a few, and i can't list them all bc that would take forever, but i also can't just list one story bc that is nigh impossible, so i'll give you my top 5: Slow Show, The Anon Before Christmas (by the incredible @foolishlovers!), The Grindr Logo Doesn't Even Have a 'G' In It, Or Be Nice & (just finished and i am Not Okay) Good Expectations.
i consider everything multi-chaptered and over 50k words as a long fic. some of these aren't that long and one is over 200k, so.. yeah. also, heads up, always read the tags first and also most of these are rated Explicit. :)
5. what is (if you read) your favourite good omens one-shot?
again, i've read some many fantastic one-shots that i lost count. but the first thing coming to mind (yes i know i'm biased shh) is the first story of my best friend's ( @beccibarnes) series Not A One-Night Stand: 14 times they canonically fucked ("naons" for short). i remember her pitching the idea for this series to me and it was/is so much fun brainstorming all the ideas with her. i'm honoured that she let me beta-read them all and i can't wait for the future fics to come :') (no pressure tho, becci, i know how busy life was recently <3)
6. who is your favourite side character?
already answered here!
9. have you seen any other work by david tennant and/or michael sheen?
already answered here!
10. have you ever imagined or created a crossover with another fandom for good omens? which one, and what was it about?
i haven't thought of any crossovers - tbh they're not really my cup of tea - BUT imagined two au's, one more or less as a joke, and one "serious" one. the first, joke-y one is a human au that takes place in the city i live in (hamburg, germany) (don't ask) (idk how i came up with that). this one is mostly in my head, but even tho it's kinda silly, i really like it.
the second, more serious one is, again, a human au: a ballet dancer au. just bc i watched some documentary about ballet and the one male dancer they interviewed looked somewhat like david tennant... you get the gist. i have some idea written down in a dusty google doc, but that's it.
14. what is your favorite good omens-coded song?
already answered here and here!
15. do you have any good omens playlists?
not my own ones - but i saved some made by others on spotify heh
ask game for people in the good omens fandom!
#damn that was a lot - thanks!#this is so much fun ahh#ask games#answered#celestialcrowley#good omes

listen i loved s2 as much as the next guy but some of the plotholes are just hilarious to me because they employ the fanfiction logic of “i want this scenario to happen so it will just happen” and i feel people aren´t talking about it enough, so here are some of the things that made me go “oh, no beta read huh.”:
1) first question: why the fuck did gabriel delete his memory?? seriously though, i havent seen one single post about this, but i just dont understand!? So, heaven threatens to fire gabriel and delete his memory, which, okay, bad news. and then his solution is to....delete his own memory for them, so now he doesnt remember his own name let alone the love of his life, beelzebub, who he planned to run away with?? WHY??? he left heaven immediately afterwards anyways it literally made no sense and just caused major problems for everyone involved. But i guess the answer is: we needed him to have no memory for the story to happen so that makes sense by ao3 standarts
2) on a related note, why was he naked?? he could have just speedwalked outta heaven in his suit with the matchbox in his pocket, so why strip down?? Again, no reason, but arent you glad we got to see john hamms naked butt, so lets pin that on gabriel being an sweet dumb himbo maybe
3) also, how did he find aziraphales shop while not even remembering his own name? Dont know dont care, googlemaps probably.
4) not really a plothole, but that whole Maggie and Nina getting locked in the bookshop thing was the tropiest trope they pulled this season and it didnt even work because we got nothing from that scene, not even one hearfelt deep conversation
5) this one is a bit pedantic, but how is it that a demon with magical powers has to live in his car? i guess its a character thing and we need to see him at his lowest point but he could literally just miracle himself an enormous pot of gold if he wanted to
6) why would beelzebub order an attack on the bookshop and risk gabriels life? why didnt they simply explain the situation to aziraphale & crowley? well you see we didnt want the story to be over after 1 episode and also we needed a finale of some sort.
7) i mean the whole attack on the bookshop was just....a thing that happened i guess. kinda strange the demons (especially shax who seems to have at least 1 spare braincell) would dare to kidnap an archangel in the first place. isnt he like, insanely powerful? and they didnt even know he lost his memory, so to them he was just an archangel hanging out on earth because he wanted to. how did they think storming the bookshop and taking him prisoner would go down?
8) tbh i dont really understand why heaven wanted gabriel back so much they would threaten to destroy anyone helping him and then....they just let him just go without any problems whatsoever? feels incredibly anticlimactic and illogical to me but i suppose the season needed some kind of threat to make the romantic elements work
9) this might actually get resolved in s3 but i cant believe Upstairs wants aziraphale - an angel who spend years deceiving heaven and overall just sucked at his job because he was too busy trying to fuck a demon - they want him to be the new supreme archangel of heaven. he literally stopped the last apocalypse a couple of days ago and now he´s in charge of armageddon 2.0? that´ll for sure take some explaining!
there´s a lot more stuff, but these are the most obvious things that have been on my mind since s2 aired. i also want to reiterate that i do love many things about this season despite the writing being all over the place. and no, i dont believe that all inconsistencies will be magically explained away by s3. i think it boils down to neil gaiman saying “lets make a big budget 6 chapter fanfic so david tennant and michael sheen can kiss each other on the mouth. also not beta we die like eric the disposable demon” and i can respect that.

okay the full review in a pros and cons list lol
pros:
uh my ship canon. i win, motherfuckers. fuckin 15 year old me was right this whole time, as always, but it's nice to see it acknowledged for once.
the confession scene also just kicked ass tbh
i gotta admire the cheekiness of the back and forth hesitant phrasing of their relationship, eg crowley referring to '...us' and aziraphale's 'i need you!' 'we can be together' etc until finally crowley just runs back to kiss him
and you know aziraphale was about to say 'i love you' before cutting himself off <3
touching his lips after too <3
the reasons for the break up felt reasonable to me and justified with the season's flashbacks to crowley questioning things and aziraphale's resistance
some pretty funny jokes, i laughed outloud a few times
michael sheen and david tennant do have excellent chemistry
never gonna say no to side lesbians even if they were incredibly bland
i think the way it was structured like a fanfic was a pro honestly lol. the plot sucked, i don't care about it, so it's nice that the story itself also doesn't care
amnesiac gabriel was endearing
crowley not kiling goats was cute
ty tennant was in it for about a minute and spent that minute hitting on aziraphale and it was fucking bonkers
no het
like i think job and his wife may have literally been the sole exception including like references to offscreen spouses lmao, i'm v impressed, and if this is penance for last season then i forgive.
i thought it was cute that gaiman incorporated the song he wanted for season 1 into this season as a plot point
beelzebub's new actor was so much better. and the flies were somehow kinda cute, i'll give the gabriel/beelzebub ship that.
good old fashioned lover boy. we all wanted it, they gave it to us, i appreciate it
here's my review: gay enough
cons:
mostly sucked as like, a narrative
tennant's fucking performance as crowley was so annoying, he or the director doubled down on what i hated last season and stripped him of all the endearing humanizing aspects of his performance and the result was like watching donald duck screaming for 6 episodes
the chemistry was still there but the actual pining kiiiiinda wasn't, actually lol. oh they referred to it in scripted moments, jokes, parallels, and straightforward statements, but they didn't... show it, particularly. until the confession nothing even approaches the tenderness and emotion of like any of their season 1 scenes, let alone the car scene or the bus stop scene or the ritz or the french revolution rescue or the blitz or eden etc etc. and david tennant did not say one word in that cute hopeful pining tone
to be honest after watching the whole show this is the most disappointing part. like the car scene??? could i not get a sequel to that? let crowley be tender!!!!
i think the reason we don't get scenes like that, other than perhaps uncomfortable restraint due to acknowledging the romance textually, is that they went from crowley practically begging aziraphale to cave and fuck him for centuries to crowley now angry repressed and needing a push to say anything, which also felt wrong to me, like iffy fanfic characterization
it was bad enough that i was nervous they were going to depict neither as actually aware of their feelings. thankfully they did not, and it still feels like crowley has been pining for a thousand years and they've both been aware but dancing around it, with the way the confession was phrased. that should be a pro, actually.
also yk all the obvious things. dumb jokes, a lot of bad acting (i feel like the director is at fault though tbf), not into the twee tone in general for the most part, a lot of scenes that were way too drawn out, utterly nonsensical narrative, characters doing things for no reason other than convenience constantly (why do the lesbians stay to help fight the demons? because their characters are more important and need more screen time), 0 stakes wrt heaven and hell because they're all so wholly ineffectual as antagonists and neither crowley nor aziraphale ever gave a shit about their threats, etc etc
oh lol nina sosanya being cast again as a brand new character, no relation to sister mary loquacious. it's not a big con since i like her and was happy to see her again, but it did feel lazy lol. at least give me the identical twin cousin explanation
was crowley living out of his car a joke bc they don't have the set from last season? did god not restore his flat like the bookshop? what's up with that? and how much time has passed since last season anyway? why didn't he get a new flat? why is he living in his car? what's going on?
nightingale references at the end felt tacked on and awkward to me tbh
ohhhhh raphael!crowley's very obviously hinted at and i hate that headcanon :/
crowley's kinda hilariously gary stuish honestly, making me really miss the book and even season 1 where he was like, yk, fucking incompetent sometimes. here he's lounging on couches without a care while being threatened by heaven and hell multiple times, pulling off perfect shots with no practice, waltzing into heaven without a second thought, bluffing demons easily and successfully, etc. and that's in addition to being right about everything and also being raphael like what happened to my dumbass low-level loser fave who fucked up the apocalypse by accident and lived in terror of phone calls from hell???
heaven and hell are "toxic" lol? that phrasing is so awkward, and like, i'd say minimizing but i guess tbf they didn't pose much of a threat in this season. but still c'mon, why you describing 2 murderous doomsday cults/cold warring governments as toxic like they're your annoying ex? especially after the running gag about nina's shitty girlfriend constantly therapy speaking at her condescendingly lol. how about 'hey remember how they worked together to try to kill us last season?'
oh gabriel/beelzebub of course lol, whatever happened to neil gaiman being unable to read fanfic or even people's headcanon posts for fear of accidentally plagiarizing ideas? bring back the separation between fandom and creator stat, fandom has way too much influence here and fandom fucking sucks
a little petty but honestly the kiss could've been good, yk? there's no reason it had to be bad, they could've just given into it for a bit for a hopeful romantic moment before aziraphale freaks and pulls away. like can i get 2 dudes to kiss with tongue at some point on my television here?
needs more queen

SPOILERS AHEAD
I have many thoughts about GO(2) and I need to sort them all out (in no particular order) and I'm reading through tumblr and everything else and I got so many thoughts and theories I've seen that I absolutely love and I want to list them all (if I can find corresponding posts, I will link them—Sorry in advance for the amount of links in this post: read at your own will). So, without further ado:
There's a lot of theories out there about who Angel Crowley™️ might be but I think my money is on Lucifer. Perhaps Samael, maybe Raphael, but my heart says Lucifer. In a way, though, I kinda hope that we dont get his God Given name because, as a nonbinary/trans leaning person, it makes me happy that he chose a name for himself instead of living with his given name.
"Class-A surreptitious miracle." In which, its actually not surreptitious because, as much as they tried to make it the most fractional, insubstantial miracle, it was powerful enough to bring back the dead 25x over, and I think it definitely scared The Metatron (dick) enough to want to see to it personlly that they were separated- "a miracle only the mightiest of Archangels could have performed" Shax said (which also adds to the Lucifer theory to me tbh).
Crowley knows how evil heaven actually is. But he doesn't give Aziraphale this information. I think in fear of hurting his angel. But this lack of information is what also helped Zira make his decision to go back to heaven. Which also leads me into saying that for his overall character arc through s1 & s2, this ending makes a lot of sense for Zira. Especially because he doesnt have all the information that Crowley has. If Crowley had told him what he knows, I think it might've been a different outcome.
Beelzebub is like, "hey, if you can find my husband (which no one knows until that ending [I've been crying for years]), I'll give you anything you want; you can be a prince run Hell" and Crowley is like, "no thanks, I got my husband, his bookshop and my car and plants. I'm happy thanks." (Which is kinda a lie).
Also, the way everyone refers to Beez so easily as They. I am so delighted that a large piece of media makes they/them pronouns a normal thing and not something that's like, overly questioned/talked about. Its just... normal.
SAME WITH THE GAYS!
Also, the ability to put almost any character in GO on the aro/ace spec and it's probably canon (I personally believe Crowley and Aziraphale are romantic beings with/for each other, but they're both Ace.)
I absolutely am ecstatic that love is love and no one questions that Zira did a "miracle" to make two women fall in love; especially in a series based upon Christianity. I didnt grow up with a religion really, but I love it. I have family that say their Christian's and dont like me so much anymore as I'm gender nonconforming. (Whoops! Not sorry.)
Michael Sheen is king of subtly and micro-expressions and I have seen a post that is talking about it and I would love for it to be true: if you watch, just after Crowley pulls away from the kiss, something changes in Aziraphale's expression, just for a split second, and I would love for it to be them switching places (again) and for Crowley to be going to Heaven and raising a little hell. (Though I know its PROBABLY not true, this theory has so much on it.)
I love how good omens 2 shows us the destruction miscommunication can cause. I think this is why in this day and age, so many people are divorcing. And this show shows it beautifully. Crowley and Aziraphale both say things the other takes in the completely wrong way. But also. I'm gonna cry for years about this divorce (its sadder than when my parents split)
Ty Tennant really showed up to set, said "watch this", basically eyefucked Aziraphale/Michael Sheen, and showed his father how to be a proper gay. And I love it.
Not to mention that Ty Tennant's Grandfather played his father, Job, while his father plays a "gay" demon "trying" to kill him.
"Our car" and "our bookshop".
I love how Nina and Maggie represent Crowley and Aziraphale. But it's not the way you think: it's so misleading. Nina at first glance is Crowley and Maggie is Aziraphale. But that is not true. Its actually the other way around. And here is a post explaining it more.
I'm loving that s1 we see Crowley as a nanny. And s2 brings us Crowley the shoemaker AND a midwife. Its... hilarious??
I love how Good Omens inserts the book, Good Omens, into series 2. Like, break the fourth wall why dont you?
Crowley hasn't fallen from grace as much as he wants people to believe. He lies, yes, but he does so much good. Barely does any "evil" on his own (that's all humans).
"I go along with hell/heaven as far as I can" is such a strong way to describe these two characters actions. Zira does what he thinks is morally right and Crowley just... does his thing. I think Aziraphale didnt want to though (as we see in the minisode of ep2) but after some thousand years, he became okay with it really. Or pretended to himself long enough to believe it himself. Crowley though doesnt give a fuck and doesn't really care if he really followed along in "Hell's plans".
That kiss is so devastating and full of desperation and everything on the side of it. It's also loving. But in the completely wrong way because its Crowley's last-ditch attempt to get Aziraphale to stay—to be with him. To be an Us.

List 5 favourite shows (in no particular order) and answer questions accordingly.
sorry but this is in particular order, bc idk how else to do it.: 01. fringe 02. bbc ghosts 03. yonderland 04. good omens 05. our flag means death Who is your favourite character in 2? robin. Who is your least favourite character in 1? there are a few.... windmark is obvious. but i think i'm gonna go with harris, the disgusting fuck. What's your favourite episode of 4? 1x03, "hard times" <3 What is your favourite season of 5? well, only one season has been released so far, so... 1. What's your favourite relationship in 3? it's not canon but ho-tan & vex. (... and the cousins tbh lol, esp lin's version of them.)
Who is your anti relationship in 2? uh... idk. anyone shipped with julian i guess.
How long have you watched 1? from the very first episode in 2008 :) fringe is one of the only shows i've watched from its beginning.
How did you become interested in 3? it's by/with the idiots, so i was interested by default.
Who is your favourite actor in 4? listen i love david tennant so much, but it's gotta be michael sheen as aziraphale for me.
Which show do you prefer 1, 2 or 5? sorry ghosts, i love you with my whole heart, but i cannot love any tv show more than fringe.
Which show have you seen more episodes of 1 or 3? i mean fringe has significantly more episodes than yonderland, and as much as i've rewatched yonderland, i've probably rewatched fringe just as many times over all these years.
If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be? i don't think there's anyone in that show i'd want to be.
How would you kill off your favourite character in 5? idk man. i'm not that creative and my favorite on the show tends to fluctuate. uh. let's go with buttons and something to do with the sea.
Would a 3/4 crossover work? ehhh.... i could see an argument for "yes" but i'm gonna go with "no".
Pair two characters in 1 that would make an unlikely, but strangely okay couple. i'm good thanks.
Overall, which show has the better cast, 3 or 5? ofmd has an AMAZING cast but the six idiots are gonna win out over everyone there.
tagging: @matbaynton, @cutthroatpixie, @ailendolin, @baynton, @renbhullar, @spaghetti-napoletana, @willbonds, and to anyone else who wants to do this. as always, no pressure to those i have tagged personally.

the thing is. i would’ve normally been afraid that if neil was going to intentionally and explicitly write aziraphale and crowley as a love story, then he would mess it up completely. tbh I think this of most showrunners who dabble in queerbait. but like, aziraphale and crowley are kind of the best written part of this season, and everything else just got worse?? plot? what plot. side characters? shax and muriel and even nina are great but the nina-maggie subplot just drags it down to a net 0 score. And even aziraphale and crowley have their badly written moments, which just says something about the season in general i suppose. or maybe it’s just that david tennant and michael sheen’s performances are doing a lot of heavy lifting so im able to ignore some choices made and be like aw the way he said that :) or aw his face in this scene :)). and hey it works it worked on me im obsessed with this show but still.
no yeah the power of a/c and good acting does so much for this otherwise AWFUL season...i was watching s2e6 w a friend yesterday and he stopped before the final fifteen and was like "this is the worst ep in the entire world i find it impossible to believe that this final section that ppl think is good can make me feel any emotion besides frustration and disgust and s2 is an affront to art everywhere" and then the final fifteen happened and he was like "oh. yeah. that was actual writing"
i do think a lot of the faults that come with "I, Neil Queerbait Gaiman, notorious for being bad at writing romance in gomens, am finally gonna make it romantic" do show up in the season - "look at you. you're gorgeous," the utter pointlessness of nazi zombie flesheaters, shipper lesbians, crowley having an italicized oh moment, "no nightingales," etc but the established dynamic between aziraphale and crowley and Facial Expressions conquers all. due to how love is real
- Crystal :)

See I've been thinking about this too. Given that we didn't actually see any character development for Aziraphale this season, nor were we given an indication that any major shifts in ideology had changed for him during the last four years, what was the difference between what he was being offered then and what he's being offered now?
At the end of season 1 Crowley and Aziraphale knew that heaven and hell would be gearing up to try armageddon 2.0 at some point in the future. Well it's been four years, plenty of time to prepare for the next attempt. So why would he trust heaven to be any different this time around?
His motivations for rebelling against heaven last time were "I like my earthly comforts (and I like Crowley)" and yet this time he was cool with giving both of those up since "nothing lasts forever"? What?? What are you talking about???
Even throughout this season we're shown that the angels have no control over God's plans, and Aziraphale (especially this new version) is really big on not disobeying God, so how exactly does he think he will make a difference? He knows what happens when God is defied or questioned and shouldn't need to see how Gabriel was treated to understand that.
Aziraphale was portrayed as a wide-eyed, naive, childlike, giddy fool this time instead of the intelligent being we were introduced to. Flanderised beyond belief (and tbh I don't think Michael Sheen helped in this regard with his OTT simpering reactions but that seems to be a tremendously unpopular opinion).
Aziraphale misunderstanding Crowley so fundamentally that he believes Crowley would want to return to heaven as an angel was really the cherry on top. We're told that Aziraphale and Crowley don't truly understand each other due to never having communicated properly (thank you wise, two-dimensional lesbians) but that isn't what we were shown in season 1. Their entire relationship was built around a comfortable, easy understanding and acceptance of each other. There was teasing and, as the pressure mounted, butting of heads but they got each other. They each knew what the other was about.
Neil's admitted that in making Crowley and Aziraphale the focus of the show he needed to find a way to, essentially, justify it by introducing conflict and drama to their story but I feel that this was a very lazy and contrived way of doing it.
Question:
Would the Aziraphale of season 2, in both the present day and the flashbacks, EVER have agreed to The Arrangement?
Would this Aziraphale have been content to perform temptations on behalf of Hell to make his life easier?

That lovely artwork you just shared led me onto the artist page and then led me to a gorgeous fic called ‘The wildest largest passions’ by Laura Shapiro and now I need to go and sit in a freezer for a while :O To quote Crowley, should I say thank you?
(These Anons are referring to this post, for those wondering.)
Isn’t it just lovely? Honestly so many of the artists in this fandom are ridiculously talented and I love how sensuous and tactile that particular piece is...like you can feel it just by looking at it. And you are very welcome, Anon #1! I found the fic you mentioned and it is quite gorgeous and steamy, so thank YOU for the recommendation!
I love how fanfic writers are inspired by the artists in the fandom, and vice-versa, how the amazing, descriptive writing in so many stories lends itself to fabulous visuals, and how pieces of art like the one I reblogged could so easily inspire a story. That it could be something as innocuous as Crowley giving Aziraphale a massage after a long day and them just being close, or it could be Crowley roughly pulling on Aziraphale’s hair and him biting back a moan, cock filling the front of his trousers as he arches into Crowley’s touch and wordlessly begs for more. There are so many possibilities, and I want to read all of them... Anon #2, I am with you in loving me some Bottom Crowley/David, so I would definitely suggest you check out the fic that Anon #1 mentioned above, because that is some excellent Bottom Crowley smutty goodness. I think my soul is equally as fed by bottom!Aziraphale as bottom!Crowley, but at different times, and in different ways, and it definitely pays to be versatile (a phrase I am very certain both Michael and David have said aloud on at least one occasion...).
Truthfully, I think I tend to enjoy bottom!Aziraphale at least in part because we know Michael enjoys it so much, and there’s something about his eagerness to bottom for Crowley/David (both, let’s face it) that makes me appreciate bottom!Aziraphale in a way I might not have otherwise. Kind of like when there’s an anchovy in a recipe that adds a distinct note of flavor--you can’t see it, but it makes the finished dish just a bit more special and delicious because it’s there.
Ah, so much wonderful discourse around bottom!Aziraphale/bottom!Crowley. It just never gets old, really. Thanks for writing in, Anons! x

Since everybody is so pissed with Griffin in new Hotel Transylvania
I’ve made a fancast for live action movie. Here you go:
Drac
Claes Bang
I mean, he’s already played Dracula and he would be great.
Mavis
Selena Gomez
She’s probably the only actress from voice acting that I would like to see in a live action movie. She just fits.
Johnny
Tom Holland
Sorry, I just didn’t have any idea...
Wayne
Michael Sheen
And again, he’s already played a werewolf and still he looks like one 😂
Frank
Rory McCann
He’s tall, taller than Claes and I just feel that he would have Frank’s sense of humor.
Murray
Danny DeVito
Just don’t tell me that he is not a perfect Murray!
Griffin!!!
David Tennant
Ekhm... since we are all mad because of Griffin’s appearance, I had to change it. Since seeing David in red hair, I’ve know that he would be my Griffin.
Just admit it. He’s what we’ve been looking for.
Vlad
Charles Dance
He looks like a vampire and I think he kinda looks like Claes’ father tbh.
Ericka
Margot Robbie
I think she would look nice in short hair and she can play badass characters.
Abraham
Ian McKellen
I mean, he is good at playing villains 😂

Been thinking about the modernization of the narrative of Good Omens from the novel to the TV series prompted by those last posts. DISCLAIMER: its actually been a while since i either watched the TV show or read the book so i might be misremembering stuff 😅
If i remember correctly, in the early stages of production of the TV show Neil Gaiman stated the aesthetics of Heaven and Hell were being updated to be less like countries at war, as they were in the novel, and more like factions of a corporation, with Heaven being the top office and Hell being the basement. And he said this was to representing the shifting social anxieties of the time - the novel was written on the heels of the Cold War, and so has a lot of spy and soldier aesthetic to it, whereas nowadays we are all looking with a skeptical eye at Disney and Nestle as large corporations do whatever the hell they want without consequences.
I think this modernization is an effective one, but one that changes the flavor of the narrative slightly, and in a way that makes it less appealing to some people and more appealing to others. One is not necessarily better than the other, and given one is a new TV show and one is an old novel so it’s hardly accurate to compare the size of fanbases, I can’t even say one is necessarily more or less appealing/popular than the other. I think that the TV show was well-made, but there were a few small key changes in the writing that move the narrative away from the reasons why I got absolutely obsessed with the novel. I think that David Tennant and Michael Sheen did a pretty good job acting the directions and script they were given, my main things I don’t like are kind of with the writing decisions (and tbh the costuming still but that’s petty 🙄)
I think it’s probably part of my upbringing, which was fundamentalist Protestant and honestly, obsessed with violence, that I don’t want to engage with a story where Hell is bad because it’s the dirty basement of an office building. That’s a legit way to depict Hell, and one that has interesting thematical implications, but I personally want to read stories where Hell is fire and brimstone so that I can watch the protagonists defeat that. I don’t fantasize about breaking free from an office job, or co-workers caught up in office petty politics, stories about finding softness and love amidst an actual war where violence is expected are what appeal to me. The demons in the TV series are violent, but it’s just because they’re mean people, not because there’s a system put in place that forces them to be....which is honestly kind of part of why I liked the universe of the novel so much, because I liked to see Aziraphale and Crowley fight a system that tries to force them to be violent and fight and stuff?
The depiction of a narrative’s bad guy, even with subtle changes, can have some pretty significant impacts on how the audience feels about the narrative if what they’re looking for in the story is catharsis and wish-fulfillment. For example, I often see people gripe about their DMs including homophobia and transphobia in their world-building in DnD, as though the ideal setting would be free from those things (and indeed, that’s the ideal setting for someone who wants escapism), but if you want to roleplay a character who struggles and overcomes those social issues, because they affect you in real life and you find it cathartic, constructing a world where those issues are very mild is not going to provide the same outlet that being victorious in a truly grimdark world is going to. It’s not for everyone, but due to the novel’s vagueness about certain things, it allowed the fandom some level of flexibility in interpreting their version of the supernatural in whatever way they wanted (the only other angel we see “on screen” other than Aziraphale is Metatron, for like 3 pages, so it was really whatever your imagination cooked up to fill in those gaps), whereas the TV show fandom is working with more concrete building blocks.
This leads me to another gripe I have--making God female. I understand this appealed hugely to a lot of people because they love the progressive implications of God not being male, and how it upsets religious bigots, but I honestly did not think this was super revolutionary or groundbreaking for the reason that Good Omens is a work of satire--it is criticizing God, and honestly? I don’t think God is super kind and loving in either version of the story, Heaven is harsh and filled with asshole angels, Crowley was thrown out for just asking questions, and God plays games with his/her servants. Not everyone sees it this way but I honestly feel like God in the GOmens universe is borderline abusive and gas-lighty, as a proxy criticism of the Christian Church, and the church has historically also been extremely misogynistic, so I think that aspect of it kind of falls apart when God is suddenly female.
That line about dinosaur bones being a joke that God played on humans hits differently when child-you went to a school that taught creationism in science class and thought you were going to hell if you didn’t believe what they told you.
But getting back to my main point, the TV show had the narrative updated for the times much more significantly than the radio play that came out in 2015--for that one, it was mostly cosmetic changes, such as tossing in a mention of X-boxes, whereas the TV show updated the basic narrative structure to reflect changing culture. I think it was an effective change, but one that made the narrative less appealing to me personally. A lot of people who were in the fandom before the TV show came out, or who just read the novel after watching the show to compare, seem to agree that the worldbuilding and the characterizations have subtle differences between the two incarnations, which to a casual consumer is not really that noticeable, but if you like one or the other because it hits a very specific sweet spot it might make a difference. For me I liked it mostly because it provided a blank canvas with some very good building blocks for, like, my imagination to run off with, and the TV show closed a lot of those avenues by filling them in with something more concrete. That’s not necessarily a bad thing and I can see myself experiencing this from the opposite side when I go into fandoms having just consumed the newest incarnation of a thing and quite liked it, only to find the fandom has people who liked it before that adaptation and hate it a lot! That’s just the nature of the beast and an inevitable side effect of obsessing over something way more than you’re meant to, but it’s also why I’m not really interested in reading or writing fanfiction set in the TV ‘verse. Anyway Im kind of rambling now but this is just kinda my thoughts and my onion so if anyone has any other thoughts on it feel free to share your onion with me too :)
