I like Revolver and all but consistently and maliciously referring to every Ignis as an "it," doing something comparable to deadnaming them, and blindly lumping their entire species together as one evil thing that needs to die is extremely problematic and disgusting.
I don't care what your stance on real life AIs is. This is not about that. The Ignis aren't "just AIs." They're not comparable to the mere machine learning we have today: they're characters. By fictional standards, they are just people, and honestly in the narrative context of VRAINS, they're a marginalised group.
Revolver spent the entire series trying to commit genocide on a marginalised group and in fact was also the one who attacked first. He never seriously re-evaluated these specific actions or views and by the end, gets exactly what he wanted with barely any consequences. That is the narrative VRAINS has given me.

Me, screaming into the void: I DON'T HATE MAI I JUST FEEL LIKE SHE NEEDED MORE DEVELOPMENT OUTSIDE OF ZUKO AND HER ARC SHOULDN'T REVOLVE AROUND HER LOVE INTEREST
Also me, still screaming into the void: I DON'T HATE AANG I JUST QUESTION WHETHER HIS ROMANTIC INTEREST IN KATARA BRINGS OUT THE BEST SIDES OF HIM AND FEEL AS THOUGH HE AND HIS DEVELOPMENT IS NOT ABOVE NECESSARY CRITICISM

blah blah something something about how fandom gravitate towards more individualistic characters because they’re easier to understand compared to community-oriented characters whose character development is very much tied to their culture/nation because understanding a single character is easier to understand than a character AND an entire culture, especially when said culture is based off a marginalized community that exists in real life and said fandom is majority WHITE.

I have a lot of opinions on fanon Tim. I am a fanon!Tim Drake anti. I’ve never been an anti of anything before, but I am very anti fanon!Tim Drake. He’s basically just a Mary Sue, but it’s worse because Tim Drake is a real canon character who is SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING. What the fuck did y’all do to him. Why can’t you just project your childhood trauma on a self insert like the rest of the internet. Look at him! You could replace him with a single packing peanut, and I couldn’t even tell the difference!

cressida's storyline was genuinely shameful tbhhh it's like they started rewriting it in the first half of the season then completely forgot about the changes they'd made to make it fit the book plot and it just ends up making everyone else look bad😐 every character in the second half got a "penelope did nothing wrong" lobotomy so we ended up with eloise completely ignoring cressida being sold off to an horrible man (when she made every effort to support her in the first half of the season) and for some reason resenting her for pretending to be lady whistledown? Then they somehow frame her ignoring colin's offensively bad pleas as it being her turning away from redemption when all she's trying to do is escape being trapped in the country with her likely abusive aunt... and it ends with her meeting her horrible fate and it still being framed as tragic only to immediately juxtapose it with the bridgerton family winning the idgaf war while gleefully seeing off francesca and her future dead husband. The bridgertons were the villains of the season frfr
#bridgerton#almost as bad as marina's plot in season one. every horrible decision in this show revolves around penelope meeting no consequences ever#this is not an anti post or anything idc about the fandom ill forget about this show tomorrow but i need to get this off my chest#they had to give penelope a fairy tale ending WHICH IS FINE but they somehow did it by surgically removing everyone's personality#INCLUDING HERS#benedict's bi storyline was bad also im sorry. paul literally has like 4 lines of dialogue and he was really cool#i love tilley but she should have been cut😭 if they wanted to establish he was bi (given we know theyre not genderbending sophie)#they should have made the whole subplot about him being attracted to a man instead of a 5 minute footnote in the last episode#i liked francesca and her husband whose name idr but it felt like they were framing it as him not being her 'great love'#considering what happens to him i fjnd it childish and meanspirited soul mates aren't real and he deserves a lttl respect considering.. lmao#what else. the dialogues were horrible. especially the ones between penelope and colin in the second part im sorry#they need to fire the make up and hair department. every reference to queen charlotte felt like a wahh pls watch my show ad#i miss anthony they should change the books to make him the villain of every season bb please come back to ruin your sibilings relationships#portia and philippa were peak as always. violet deserves her own season. we need to put eloise out of her misery pls leave her in scotland#rant overrr#publishing it on my sideblog actually i feel like im gonna lose followers just for having watched this show lmaoo

Shut the fuck up. It is not an adult's fault, posting adult content in adult spaces, if someone's stupid crotch goblin doesn't heed the warnings. It is only the parents fault.
If someone's stupid shitty kid reads something they shouldn't have and thinks something in fiction is okay, that's because their stupid shitty parents aren't parenting them, it's not the content's fault.
It is not responsibility of the adults in fandom spaces, especially adult fandom spaces, of which tumblr and A03 are, to babysit and parent your fucking stupid kids because you decided to make the mistake of raw dogging it.
Step up and parent your god forsaken over grown failed abortions and stop expecting everyone else to fucking cater to your stupid child's delicate sensibilities. Grow up, parent your kids, don't read shit you know upsets you, shut the fuck up and if all else fails, choke on your god damn spite and leave everyone else the fuck alone, you insufferable catholic guilt riddled empty headed motherfucker.
You are not an authority figure who gets to decide what art gets to be made just because you personally find it distasteful. Get over yourself and stop acting like your opinion means anything. The less time you open your mouth, the less the air quality degrades in your presence.
Sorry, is this too mean for you? I don't care. I don't play nice with assholes who want to parrot conservative talking points and pretend they're woke about it,

You know what else is so funny about the stansas is how they use the 'radiant' argument as proof that Jon liked Sansa when it's the lamest description compared to how Jon describes Ygritte or Val lmao
And even then Catelyn uses "radiant" to describe Lysa on her wedding day, so in-universe it doesn't have any romantic implication like they love to pretend it does. That's why there are posts of them pulling up "evidence" from Twilight, an entirely different book with a different author, to prove their point. Jon barely even thinks about her and they know that, which is why they have to steal quotes about him thinking of Arya/Ygritte/Val and pretend they're about her lol

I have truly never seen so much discourse for a hero/anti-hero that kills until I started liking jason todd. I have literally never seen so many people get hate for not condemning a fictional character who kills bad guys until now its shocking! and I mean that literally
maybe I’m the one missing something but there are plenty of heroes (not antiheroes but HEROES) who exist that choose a lethal method and people take that in stride? the only way I can make sense of this is that people are so attached to batman and his mythos; they literally imprint on him and his thinking ?? and now any slight against him or challenge against his righteousness is taken as if its a slight against them.
at the end of the day, to me, you can still support jason being lethal because the fictional characters hes killing aren’t actually dead. in this sense, specifically, I don’t see why real life morals should be applied to a comic world. he’s not killing out of bigotry and if he was, I would get the controversy! but if you can agree with brutally beating and invasions of privacy in the dcu because it’s “morally correct” within the universe, I can’t see an argument against jason’s methods being morally wrong as valid unless those views are applied to every aspect of batman comics. if we did that, then everyone who continued reading these comics would be getting the same treatment jason todd fans do. you cannot hold one character accountable to real life moral views and not the other(s)!

“Zuko would have jumped in front of Azula’s lighting bolt for anyone!”
Yes! And? Katara would’ve given the “I’ll make sure your destiny ends right then and there, permanently.” speech, to anyone who threatened the life of a loved one. Whether it be Aang, Sokka, Toph, Hakota, etc. Hell, she’d defend an innocent stranger that way, and she has. Besides, it’s not like we haven’t seen Zuko take a lightning bolt for someone else besides Katara— oh wait, we haven’t (he still would though ofc).
Regardless, it’s the same point, inverted.
“Zuko would die for any of his friends” and “Katara would kill for any of her friends” are foil characterization traits; not opposing arguments.
