Did you ever hear of an absurd and idiotic teaching called the "prosperity gospel"? Well, apparently, some people say that we as believers are meant to be wealthy, healthy, and successful. As much as it sounds comforting, it is a lie. We are meant indeed to be wealthy, but not in money. We are indeed to be healthy, but differently. We are meant to be successful, but not among people. All three should be pointing to the Kingdom of God, where our reward is. Our reward is not on earth, but rather we are being given what we have in order to survive this evil world of lawlessness in order to make it to the end and spread the Good News to many. We are not citizens of this world, but of the coming one. Don't believe these heresies of the property gospel, but turn to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, as written in the Bible. All the evidence of it being the infallible Word of God is around you; you just have to look. God bless in Jesus Name! Amen.

shebbz i just want to say that you are single-handedly convincing me to watch mash... i know nothing about the show but ur chipping away at my brain like a misfolded protein
just make sure you watch it without laugh tracks
#it premiered in 1972 so don't expect 21st century moral sensibilities but it really was groundbreakingly counterculture#the hayes code ended 1968 and the vietnam war was on tv every night and to be adamantly anti-war was HERESY#which unfortunately makes a lot of parts of it sadly evergreen bc it feels like there will always be a war on tv you can't protest#whether or not every last facet of it still holds up it's very important to appreciate what worked and the effects it had#that goes with all ''old'' shows/movies/books as i'm sure i've said a million times while frothing about star trek or 20k leagues etc#shebbz shoutz#mash#shebbz editz#ask#we got another one lads

listened to the rankherasy episode and that is so genius about the sword not having destroyed the stone. but also even if the resurection stone WAS destroyed by the stone dumbledore would totally enchant it to show harry fake visions to kill himself.
Glad you like the episode!
I'm not so sure Dumbledore would feel the need to go to that step, and the ghosts of Lily, James, Sirius, and Remus seem to act exactly as described in the Tale of the Three Brothers. It's an incredibly complex enchantment too:
The stone knows who's dead, even when Harry himself doesn't. He's surprised to see Remus Lupin there. How does the stone know that?
The stone gives different personalities that seemingly fit who the people it's projecting once were (or at least what the user expects them to have been like). They want the same thing, but go about it differently
It appears to know things about these people Harry doesn't, ref. Remus talking about his dead wife and surviving son
It knows what Harry is about to do, why, and how to best encourage he go through with it
It's possible Dumbledore did this, though @theoriginalcarnivorousmuffin and I have the extremely heretic, future @rankheresy episode's thought that Dumbledore's primary strength as a wizard is knowledge, not power or talent. I simply doubt Dumbledore could do this, and when (as is discussed more in depth in the @rankheresy episode about Tom Riddle's horcruxes) the sword of Gryffindor doesn't appear to actually have ever been in contact with basilisk venom, I think the original enchantment on that stone survived Dumbledore hacking at it just fine.

Hello, this is my first time asking you. My language may be difficult to understand. I apologize in advance. Okay. I suddenly thought of something. Every character in MHA or MHA's hero society, if they really encountered a disabled person, how would they treat those people? I don't mean born without special powers. But I mean Born without limbs, deaf ears, blind, and mute by birth. (We left out the subject of special powers so it would be easier to think about.) How do you think Hori's superhero society will treat them? Thank you for answering the question!
Hi @moonsb1996
Ok this is a tricky question as it means ...we have to look at Hori. How he sees disabled people? I dont know and frankly looking how he wrote everything in mha I doubt it would a flattering image.
Look at Izu. Many fans/critics do say "oh he is a disabled coded" and like ....maybe(?) Not sure on that one but if he is...people treated him poorly.....but not bc of his status, its bc he existed.
Like try again: Izu, the disabled coded character, is treated like trash by BK for mere existing and his time in Aldera was awful...ok then why he wasnt treated better once he got quirk aka is "abled"?
(Dont think Izu can fit the disabled coded bc hm...."haha what loser Izu cant fly" my guys regular people cant fly. If its a metaphor well...to me it didn't stick)
Izu goes to a prestigious school and has a quirk....if quirkcism is a thing, if people look down on people for not having a powerful quirk....why Izu isnt teeated better?
No. I dont think his quirk is powerful...Hori made sure of that but is a quirk that is unique.
Aizawa labels him lazy and gives no fucks
Bk still abuses him
A1 gives no fucks.
If a hero in mha were to see a disabled person, a person who cant walk, see or speak...
I honest to go think this would broke them. Not in the sense..."oh they would weep and sob" no.
It would be more like their minds would shit down "error! Error"
I can see them being ableist even if they dont mean it.
(BK WOULD 10000% MEANT BUT AIZAWA AND FRIENDS would cuddle him)
And they wouldn't change...bc a disabled person wouldn't change their minds. Unless the disabled person is a hero.
A blind hero...but it would enter in an icky territory. "Anyone can be a hero as long they have a quirk and arent Izu"

Do we know what Luther, Calvin and other Protestant leaders thought about Anne Boleyn's guilt/innocence after her fall and execution? I read somewhere that Luther was against Katharine and Henry's divorce, but I also read that Luther thought that the rise of the Reformist Anne to the English throne was a good omen).
Do we know if they current Pope, or any of the main Catholic rulers (Spain, France, Portugal) made some comment about it?
Is free from the projected journey to England, for, after these tragic occurrences there, plans have greatly changed. The second Queen, more accused than convicted of adultery, has been executed. These vicissitudes denounce the anger of God against all men, and show him that their own misfortunes and dangers should be borne with resignation. Melancthon to Joachim Camerarius.
+
Now Sir, because [the Quene] was such a favorer of God’s word […] I tell you few men would believe that she was so abominable[…] T. Amyot (ed.), ’A memorial from George Constantine’, in Archaeologica, 23 (1831), 50-78
+
Afterwards, in the great chamber with the others, drew a parallel between the fall of Lucifer and that of queen Anne, congratulating Sir Francis that he was not implicated.
+
Henry VIII, the League of Schmalkalden and the English Reformation, Rory McEntegart
+
Couriers of the Gospel: England and Zurich, 1531-1558, Carrie Euler
Tudor and Stuart Consorts: Power, Influence, and Dynasty (2022)
"In the years following her death, Anne had few defenders. One of them, though, was Étienne Dolet, former French embassy secretary in Venice and practically minded commentator on diplomacy. In 1538, he published an epitaph for the queen ‘falsely condemned of adultery’. The news of Anne’s arrest travelled rapidly south through Europe. It must have been a shock to the men who had toiled for six years to achieve her marriage to Henry, but then political conspiracies and swift executions were far from rare in Rome." The Divorce of Henry VIII, Catherine Fletcher
I don't recall if Luther remarked on it specifically; although he did refer to her supplanter as an 'enemy of the gospel', so if one was so inclined, one could read into that...?
The Pope, iirc, mainly believed it presaged Anglo-Papal reconciliation (he was mistaken); Chapuys forwarded letters from Charles V where he expressed shock and horror at Henry's near-miss from regicide (whether he believed this himself or thought it was politic to express that he did...things that make you go hmmm), Mary of Hungary was skeptical yet essentially said she deserved to die regardless, so no great wrong was committed.
#anon#i will add to this if i come across anything relevant in the quotes i've saved....later#(some of these are...ambiguous; religion wise#etienne dolet was convicted of heresy but not particularly associated with other protestant leaders#francis bryan was anti-papal but not necessarily reformist otherwise#etc. but i love a good quote compilation)#george constantine was certainly a zealous evangelical tho; as was hilles etc#primary sources#catherine fletcher#george constantine

not sure if anyone else has come to say this, but im actually hoping for rank heresy to react to loki season 2 because the ending is sooooo muffin-coded. to the point where i feel like they read your works, esp the earlier stuff!!
Anon's referring to @rankheresy the podcast version of mine and @therealvinelle's blogs.
Anon will also remember that in our episode watching we made it to episode... 1, maybe 2, of season 1 and had a terrible time.
It was never discussed again.
But I will bear what you say in mind and maybe someday, someday, we can force ourselves to return to Loki's man pain. (It's not that your words don't intrigue me, it's just... that show)

they’re gonna kick me out of bible study
#i am not even joking acts 4:34-35 says there was not a needy person among them#for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold#and laid it at the apostles feet and it was distributed to each as any had need.#the american church is doing an abominably poor job at being a church. letting americanism (heresy) and the party line gut the bible#i can already tell what the discussion is gonna be. the leader is gonna reassure the group that this doesnt mean socialism#and just encourage everyone to give a little more money to charities :)#how about we become radically sacrificial and anti materialistic instead.#stop buying thing stop consuming things cancel your amazon subscriptions and welcome a struggling family into your giant suburban house#wealth and materialism are so so evil :) and i see christians praising them all the time :) you cannot serve god and mammon :)#put away the gods of your fathers :) or else :)

Sometimes I forget wh40k Imperium does just take Catholic terms and fling them everywhere, and I've been out of catholicism long enough that things have rewired a little.
Just got a witness request from the board of Canon Law (hilarious real thing) signed by the Ecclesiastical notary, so their canon lawyers can decide if my sister's (terrible, young and messy) first marriage can be annuled. (Aka catholic divorce*, where you make a case that you were not in the right state of mind or were tricked or something about the marriage so it "doesnt count" and you can still receive communion and remarry and such.)
Ofc very serious thing to her, just funny to get a letter from the actual Ecclesiarchy. I was like, oh god they heard about the heresy I'm writing.
But no, I'm just normal flavor heretic, and they aren't allowed to arrest me for that anymore hahaha
#theres a flavor to growing up catholic that really hits#wh40k has that good balance of “i want zealous worship and massive churches and over the top ritualism and oppulance”#but with the important to me step of “and theyre super wrong for it and even the one they worship would hate it”#proccess all that religious trauma through real heresy like god intended#disclaimer I'm not like super anti catholic I'm just gay and agnostic but i do NOT hate catholics actively in the church

ik the implication of the von valancius succession is that our RT is just some random fucking 7th cousin twice removed but i actually think its so funny if leda is theodora's daughter.
#oc: leda#or granddaughter maybe . w the anti-aging shenanigans in this universe i have no idea how old anyone is#except for leda is who is a tiny baby infant 34 year old <3#sorry this is so unhinged upon rereading but#shes a psyker and she was unsactioned until caught when she was abt 21 or so . WAY older than most who survive the sanctioning process#and i was thinking abt HOW she couldve even survived that long and since the inquisition do routine scans#but i guess it makes sense if she was in the same boat as idira . best way to hide is to be on a ship thats constantly moving lol#anyway i think she literally grew up on theodora's voidship lmao. bc if theodora wanted to protect her ace-up-the-sleeve psyker heir#without actually caring abt her OR drawing attention to her. itd be pretty easy to just um send her downstairs lol#i just think it works! she has pretty radical views on technology bordering on heresy already#so expanding on that.. where else better to have fostered that curiosity than on theodora's own ship lmao#and bonding so quick with nomos too.. bc shes always loved the ship and she sees him AS the ship. like a big brother she always wanted lol#i also just think its funny imagining leda getting the call years after leaving the voidship + serving as a sanctioned psyker and being lik#''oh i wonder if that cafe on level IX is still there. the one next to the puppy incinerator and the Death-Gamma-Beta-Murder-XIV machine''#and she checks for sure. she goes down to the lower levels routinely i think. not that she has any friends down there lol theyre all dead <#but she likes to people watch <3 and feel like a human being again for once . not just a psyker or Her Ladyship yknow#but anyway. she absolutely has no clue who her family are which is why she answers the call. finding out she is a von valancius isnt so muc#her seizing a power grab . more just her wanting to find people to help ... navigate her way out of the dark i guess.#will expand on That later when i have brain cells. to my audience of like 2 people who care <3 JKFDGJK

I hope something really bad happens to the guy you based off hook in your book😈 (If there’s one character that I loathe with a passion burning hotter than a thousand suns and brings out the entire ugly in me, it’s that d****ebag pirate😡)
Like for real Phoenix I hate him so much…
AHAHAHA!
I don't remember if you read the original Hell's Heresies fanfic when it was posted, but I originally had Hook as Emma's philandering cheating boyfriend she was in a very clearly toxic relationship with. I think the original plan was for Hook to get eaten by Neal's demon father, who haunted the local library (shoutout to @thestraggletag).
In this book, however, I didn't want my main to be in a toxic relationship, I wanted her in a STALE relationship, a relationship that both parties should've gotten out of a long time ago, but are so used to each other that they haven't.
Thus Dylan was born, who looks a great deal like Hook (I used the exact same description), but his main flaw is being a clueless and inconsiderate boyfriend who hasn't realized that his college relationship has expired.
