Okay, vino, I need to know more about why you despise Darren criss

surface level: i just think he’s really cringe 😭 one could argue that that’s not a real reason to hate, but i think it’s kinda funny LMAO maybe it’s because he’s a theater kid millennial? (no offense to the theater kid millennials)

here’s a brief, there’s definitely more i just can’t think of anything else right now, collection of his cringe moments IN MY OPINION:

maybe he’s just a super passionate ally or something but like he consistently mentions that he’s straight like.. all the time………. and sure maybe it’s because people think he’s gay or something and he wants to clarify his point, but there are PLENTY of actors who are straight who played a gay character who don’t CONSTANTLY mention their sexuality!! idk why darren always feels as though he needs to talk about how straight he is. the way he talks about it makes it sound like all his “appreciation” for the queer community is insincere

the way he mentions queer spaces is just like.. off to me :( despite being cishet, he tends to insert himself into the conversation about being queer. he doesn’t bring anything important or necessary to the community, besides allyship i suppose, so like.. why is he here….. i just feel like the lgbtq community does not NEED darren with his weird performative activism if that makes any sense

in conclusion, i don’t like darren criss. i appreciate that he plays one of my favorite glee characters (maybe, LIKE I DON’T EVEN DRAW BLAINE LIKE DARREN,, NOT REALLY….). to be honest, i don’t think i TRULY hate him really?? which probably sounds stupid after this entire post, but seriously! if i was TRULY a hater, i think i’d block him on all social media, not interact with his fans, ignore any news about him, etc,, but i don’t! i think he’s interesting and deserving of his success, i just find a lot of the things he has done to be weird. i’ve seen a lot of haters be way more nit-picky about things he’s said and done, some criticisms i’ve seen come from strange/distrustful sources, and i’ve seen a lot of darren hate tied to hate on blaine, hate on his wife/family, and hate on other actors like chris colfer, which i believe is uncalled for. if anyone wants to see a couple more points about his attitude towards the queer community, feel free to dm me, but i won’t share those publicly because they’re kinda off and i have mixed feelings about them. so while i may agree with some points from random glee accounts from 2016 or something to an extent, what i’ve listed here is what i SINCERELY believe he’s in the wrong for. all in all, out of all the glee-cast-who-aren’t-actual-criminals, he’s definitely the one i dislike the most.

It’s just a vibe I’m afraid! There’s no exact ‘decent’ reason, he’s not a raging bigot or a terrible guy, there’s just a few nitpicky smaller reasons why I don’t like him.

I don’t like Blaine, like at all, except for in season 2 and even then he’s on thin ice. I like his voice but that’s kinda it.

He’s besties with Lea Michele and we all know how I, and most of the general public, feel about her.

I’ve heard a few times he’s said a few racist things. I have no proof of this so this isn’t something I’m sure of, I’ve just seen it being claimed in passing on the internet. This doesn’t mean it’s 100% true, and I sure hope it’s not cause I know lots of people look up to him, but because I already have a dislike for him there’s just a bad taste in my mouth after hearing that.

Warner Bros. Entertainment has released the first Crisis on Infinite Earths trailer for the upcoming animated three-part event. DC Comics and Warner Bros. animated movie fans have one more thing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving: A new trailer for the 2024 movie Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earth — Part One has arrived online. Part of a trilogy, the movie is based on the famous 1985-86 comic book series by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. In the trailer, DC’s heroes are brought by a character called the Monitor. The Monitor explains that the heroes exist in a multiverse, and we see Superman with an older version of himself from a parallel world. He also tells Supergirl that she is needed to stop their world from being erased from existence. The official synopsis reads: “Death is coming. Worse than death: oblivion. Not just for our Earth, but for everyone, everywhere, in every universe! Against this ultimate destruction, the mysterious Monitor has gathered the greatest team of Super Heroes ever assembled. But what can the combined might of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern and hundreds of Super Heroes from multiple Earths even do to save all of reality from an unstoppable antimatter Armageddon?!” Directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Marv Wolfman, the movie is reportedly being released on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K in the first quarter of 2024. 1.) What did you want to do with your life when you were younger? What would the child version of yourself think about the path you paved for yourself?

For as long as I can remember, I never saw myself doing anything that wasn’t related to music, whether it was singing, dancing, playing an instrument, anything. My mom says I was much better at dancing long before I got walking right! Everything I have ever at done, at school, at Dalton, McKinley, and later on at NYU, where now I get to teach what I love the most, I wanted it to be about that, and in the end that’s what I’m doing. I know my child self would approve, and be very happy about what my life is right now. I’d go as far as thinking that he would be saying “see? Told you it would pay up to bug everyone at home singing and dancing all the time!”

  2.) What is your proudest accomplishment? Don’t be afraid to talk about what it took to achieve it and how you feel about it as well. 

There was a time when I thought my biggest achievement was being able to stand up for myself back on those days where I was bullied in such a traumatizing way. To stand up for who I was, for what I was, and not being afraid to say it out loud. I remember even fighting my parents when they decided to transfer me to Dalton, so I could be safe, because I wanted to stay and fight all the hatred and all the things that happened to me. In the end, that transfer didn’t only came as my protection, but as a brand-new chapter of my life, where I made the most amazing friends, where I fell in and out of love, where I allowed myself to dream about what my life could be someday. And that’s how everything turned out to be. But as of today, nothing makes me prouder than to be a teacher, a guide, a friendly hand for someone to hold onto when it’s needed. To be able to inspire, and tell each and everyone of my students to never stop chasing for what you want and dream of, and to never let anyone tell them they can’t do it.

  3.) If you could do anything you wanted for one whole day, what would it be and why?

As little of spare time that I have at this moment, I want to say ‘sleep all day in’, but that would be too lame, right? Man… I don’t know- I mean, if I’d have all and any means to do anything… hop on a plane and spend a whole day at Santorini? Or any of the beaches of the Mediterranean. I love the beach. But thinking on a more realistic tone, being on a beach, any beach, doing a good swim, reading a good book, taking a short nap, and why not, enjoying some good company.

  WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Some short time after we last heard about Blaine, his relationship with Kurt started to crumble. First it was little things that kept on stirring arguments between them, but it eventually came to a point where they had to sit down and talk about if that’s how they wanted their life to be. If that was truly what their hearts, what their minds wanted. And even if love was never an issue, they came to realize that love hadn’t been enough to maintain a marriage. They were so young when they got married, and their lives were started to get different paths, and some of them didn’t really have them meet anywhere in between. With him studying at NYU to get his Teaching degree, while also giving private guitar lessons to children, and Kurt also as busy as he was with his work, they had very little time to share, much less to try and figure out what to do to fix their marriage. And so, and in the most possible amicable way, they decided to get a divorce, but remained friendly, while trying to make up their lives as single individuals again.

  For Blaine that meant to dive headfirst in his studies, while also dipping his toes at the Dramatics Arts School, as a minor, and there he found his world, and where he knew his life truly belonged. He was able to blossom as an artist and a composer, even writing a couple of plays for the school to put on. He never gave up on his own love for playing music, so while visiting a small, local pub with some college friends called The Play Tone, one open mic night he took the stage, and that led to him having a casual moonlighting job as a singer there, which was like another dream come true. To be able to play his own music, along with some masterfully done covers, for an audience. Recently, he has learned the owner of the pub has plans to sell the place, and that has stirred another completely different line of ideas in his always working mind. Blaine Anderson as the owner of a pub? Who knows. Maybe.

  There is just one thing he had recently realized would be the cherry on the top of the cake that was his life. It has been a good while since he last seen his old friends from McKinley High. And ever since Sue Sylvester became President, with all the flashbacks and memories that event brought back, there was something that makes him miss his friends, now more than ever.

HEADCANONS

Growing up with two parents who have busy jobs, and a brother who seems to be perfect at everything he does and is always the centre of attention, isn’t always easy. As a kid, Blaine idolized his big brother. He admired Cooper’s talent and confidence and wanted to be just like him, but Cooper always seemed to do everything better. No matter how hard Blaine tried to keep up with him despite their age difference, Cooper didn’t always seem to know, or care, that Blaine being ten years younger meant he didn’t have as much experience as Cooper himself, and he was extremely critical of his little brother. Cooper had no issues with pushing Blaine into the background — both literally and figuratively. But the harder Cooper pushed, the harder Blaine tried to live up to his expectations. And Cooper wasn’t the only one who had high expectations of Blaine — his father did too. There always seemed to be an underlying tension in the Anderson home, and Blaine often felt like he had to compete with Cooper for their father’s attention. Blaine worked hard on his talents and made sure to get good grades, and to always be polite and charming, hoping to earn his father’s affection that way. Trying to live up to his father and brother’s incredibly high expectations is one of the reasons Blaine is the perfectionist he is today. 

When Blaine came out of the age of thirteen, his father’s reaction wasn’t exactly what Blaine had been hoping for. There wasn’t much of a reaction at all, really, and the fact that his father almost seemed to pretend like it had never happened made things even more strained between them than they already were. Blaine would often feel like his father hoped that rebuilding a car with him or taking him to a football game might make him straight. Rationally, Blaine knew his dad loved him, but sometimes he couldn’t help but feel like he had to tone down his personality, to try to fit in more, and that being gay was something to do quietly in their house. There were times when they would barely speak to each other, one of them being after hiss father tried to convince him to choose a more reliable career path when Blaine announced he wanted to apply for NYADA, which resulted in many fights.

At school, things weren’t exactly easier when Blaine came out. A long year of bullying escalated at a Sadie Hawkins dance, and after ending up in the hospital and some long talks with his parents, Blaine ended up transferring to Dalton Academy. It was easy to blend in at his new school, the uniform and anti-bullying policy offering a feeling of safety Blaine hadn't felt in a long time. But sometimes he couldn’t help but feel like he was playing a role instead of truly being himself, and part of him regretted running from his bullies.

While the performing arts, theatre and music have always been Blaine’s main interests and biggest passions, that doesn’t mean that it’s all he’s ever been interested in. As a kid, his parents let him pursue every interest his young self could think of, from piano, singing, dancing and acting to fencing, tennis and football. He climbed trees with other kids, read books at an impressive speed, learned how to bake and joined many clubs, much like he did in his senior year at McKinley. That doesn’t mean he was good at everything he tried, but that never stopped him from being open to trying new things. And he never stopped having a wide array of interests and hobbies — his taste in music is still all over the place, he still loves anything superheroes-related, still boxes, does yoga and attends aerobics classes, loves watching sports games and plays quite a few instruments.

When Kurt and Blaine moved back to New York after getting married, Blaine was offered a second chance at NYADA. After graduating with honours, he starred in Hairspray, West Side Story, Little Shop of Horrors, the very first LGBTQ production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (alongside his husband) and, most recently, in Grease as Danny Zuko for which he has won a Tony. Performing on Broadway isn’t the only thing Blaine has been doing career-wise, though. When Audrey was born, Blaine took a break from the stage and started to focus more on writing music, and he can now proudly call himself a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter. His last performance as Danny Zuko is in just a few days, and he plans to take a little break again, to be able to spend more time with Audrey and to write new music. Blaine is also an advocate for protecting LGBTQ+ youth and anti-bullying. He speaks at schools and performs at charity benefits, and tries to volunteer as much as he can. Blaine is grateful for every opportunity he gets, and he knows that no matter what, he will always find ways to make art and help people. 

CONNECTIONS

PAM & ANTONIO ANDERSON (Parents): Blaine has always been much closer to his mother than to his father, especially after his coming out. Although his mother can be a little intense sometimes, she has always been very supportive of Blaine and is still his biggest fan. While his father is still much more emotionally distant, and Blaine still talks to his mother a lot more than he does to his father, he and Blaine have worked hard on improving their relationship. It’s still far from perfect, but things are much better between them now. COOPER ANDERSON (Half-brother): While there are still times when Blaine feels overshadowed by his brother, and they still bicker sometimes, their relationship is much better than it used to be. He knows that at the end of the day, Cooper has his back and tries his best to support him in his own way. KURT HUMMEL (Husband): They’ve certainly had their ups and downs in the past, but things are going better than ever between Kurt and Blaine. They’ve gotten much better at communicating, which is something Blaine continues to work on, and there is no one he would rather spend the rest of his life with or raise their daughter with. AUDREY HUMMEL-ANDERSON (Daughter): Blaine had always known that he wanted to have kids some day, and he absolutely adores being a father. He sings her to sleep every night, happily lets her paint his nails and is always up for a tea party or dance party. While he tries not to spoil her too much, he often can’t resist her pleading eyes and finds himself giving in to her requests more often than not. SAM EVANS & TINA COHEN-CHANG (Best friends): When Blaine felt lost at McKinley, Sam was the one who was there for him and stopped him from running away to Dalton, and Blaine will always be grateful for the way Sam helped him through that rough time. Together with Tina, they formed an inseparable trio during their senior year, and his friendship with both of them is still as strong as ever. RACHEL BERRY (Best friend): Blaine has admired Rachel’s talent and ambition from the very first time he’d met her, and while he already considered her a friend when they were both in high school, the two of them truly became close when they both found themselves back in Ohio. Their bond became even stronger when Rachel agreed to be their surrogate and he considers her one of his best friends.
