It's kinda funny that (in my opinion) B99 basically stopped being funny as soon as they made the switch to NBC. You either go out a beloved show that got cancelled before its time or live long enough to see yourself become the main target of copaganda discourse I guess.

I’m telling you, keeping the fandom alive can absolutely bring a cancelled show back.

When Fox cancelled Brooklyn Nine Nine, everyone on twitter constantly made posts about how much they love the show and would do anything to get another season. When NBC saw the support that Brooklyn Nine Nine got, they picked the show back up (in fact, a fan was allowed to play a major character in an episode).

Dead End Paranormal Park can come back. Infinity Train can come back. Mao Mao Heroes of Pure Heart can come back. Inside Job can come back. Close Enough can come back.

All your favorite shows that were cancelled can still come back. We, the fans, can help. If you have the ability to watch the show legally please do. If you have an idea for a fanfiction, please write it. Showing continuous love and support actually goes a long way.

Also ok I need to sleep but deadloch is such a good satire also. Like I’ve watched some cop shows, and holy shit it flips every aspect over. The obvious one is that it’s women leading and men getting murdered instead of the other way around, but the one I find the most interesting and most important, is that it takes the “few bad apples”, as well as the “ends justify the means” shit, and completely flips it. Like. Ok. B99 is a cop show. It’s a “progressive” cop show, that sort of tries? To have some messaging about bad policing, but it still falls into the issue of the messages being: “most cops are fine it’s just that some cops are racist! But we can just get them fired so it’s ok” and “it’s necessary for cops to break the law and do morally questionable things to solve a case, and they risk getting fired for it so it’s brave”

Meanwhile even with a progressive show like b99, it still fits into the box of what deadloch is parodying. Like the core messages of deadloch are the opposite of what I listed above. Like we have: “the system is rotten, corrupt, and the few good cops are getting pushed out because cops are actively discouraged from being good” and “the bravest thing an officer can do is follow the law and treat people with human decency”

Like idk what else to say it’s just really good. It’s a really good satire. I went in with low expectations (bc I didn’t realize it was going to be a satire) but like. Yeah It’s really really well done.

Re-watching B99 and reminded of how much I really dislike Jake x Amy ship. I think they were a lot better as friends than romantic partners. Separately they are tolerable as characters, but together, insufferable. I am not saying it isn't wholesome, but their personalities and quirks are grating as romantic partners. I don't find their relationship cute or enjoyable. For me, their romantic relationship makes me barf.

If Sophia hadn't dumped Jake and was more serious about their relationship, I would have thoroughly been invested. They were super cute and very laid back as a couple, except for work.

My favorite couple would be: Holt and Kevin.

Omar little should really make the wire into a tumblr classic. You have here a flamboyant gay black robin hood-esque stickup artist who holds himself to an exacting code of honour and refuses to taryet civilians, whose in-world legendary status borders on the mary sue-ish, and who across 2 seasons together with his bf teams up with a lesbian couple as a gangster-robbing quartet (these are only a handful of the canon gay characters). The show is ofc itself fairly sympathetic to the cops over most of the drug dealers and other associated criminals, but its also among big name cop-sympathetic media probably the most amenable to reimagining from the other side, and as much as the show loves detectives it hates the war on drugs even more; certainly moreso than in the few exposures ive gotten to b99, which somehow managed to bypass this sites usual anti-LEO vitriol with what is to all appearances the most tepid edge-sanded "queer rep" imaginable

And it managed to pull all this off during the bush administration
