Insistent rain pounded away at glass panes, each drop another plink; a precursory percussion for ragged jaws of lightning to open the sky and thunder to shudder the windows in their frames. It felt as though the gods were displeased tonight. Looking outward there was nothing to see but the deluge of the gods’ wrath- so Veronica focused her attention inside as she waited. John Seed’s ranch was decorated tastefully but without soul. As though a magazine model stripped from laminated pages of country living resided here instead of a person. There was a fireplace in the middle of the living room decorated with some impersonal photos- landscapes, big game hunting, ect.- and a great bear skin rug before it. Looking around the expansive room Veronica noticed a stuffed wolf here, a stuffed cougar there, a few deer heads on the walls. It was not her style but more power to him she supposed.  Her boots tapped on the exposed hardwood floor as she began to wander. ‘Where is this guy?’ She wondered with a small sigh. In small towns people sure liked to take their time it seemed. Behind the fireplace was a long oak meeting table scattered with some papers. “So much info to leave out..” Ronnie mused with a small smile and scanned the documents, looking for any sign of her quarry’s name. Her hand was just reaching to rifle through the pages when she heard a creak in the room adjacent to her. “Detective!” A voice intoned with unearned comradery rang out from behind Veronica, causing her to whip around. As she did she found herself a couple feet from one of her top people of interest, John Seed. He was dressed like a man who expected conformity and submission, and the air about him suggested he often got what he wanted. John was adorned in an entirely black suit fitted perfectly to the line of his body, a royal blue tie with matching sapphire cufflinks, and a Swiss Vacheron Constantin watch that Veronica bet cost more than her car. “Wonderful to finally meet you.” The smile he gave her was one that a wolf gives a rabbit, predatory, hungry, ready to pounce; but he would learn that she was no rabbit.

“A pleasure.” V replied shortly, taking a step back from the man. “I just had a couple questions and then I’ll get out of your hair, Mr. Seed.”

Dark cavernous eyes evaluated her, “Please ask away, I’m an open book.” His saccharine grin widened and he pulled out a chair for her at the table. Reluctantly Veronica took a seat and pulled out her notebook. 

“How acquainted are you with Mary May Fairgrave?” As she spoke the name of the missing bartender she studied John’s features; looking for any clue in his face. There was a spark of recognition to her name, and a quickly masked raising of eyebrows. Concern? Surprise? His poker face slipped back in place before she could decide. 

The brunet took his time with his answer, he had been a lawyer after all. He was a man who knew how to choose his words. “We are… unacquainted. I’ve spoken with her before of course, the Spread Eagle, no matter how crudely named, is the only taproom in the Valley.” 

Veronica jotted a few things down, nodding as he spoke. She waited a moment before responding to make sure he was done and tapped the pen against her bottom lip nonchalantly. “Word on the street is, you wanted to buy that ‘taproom’?” V cocked her head at him asking aimfully, she didn’t trust this guy as far as she could throw him. 

“There were talks.” John answered vaguely. His eyes wandered down her form then back to meet her gaze before he changed the subject, “Can I get you a drink? Maybe a nice glass of merlot.” His tone now deeper and almost hypnotic.

A chill ran down V’s spine and she started to feel dizzy like she was falling into the man’s deep blue eyes. She could see herself there, falling forever in the ocean of him. She forced herself to break his gaze and couldn’t help but glance at his lips before settling her line of sight on the stuffed cougar just behind him. “No, I’m good. Were these talks friendly?” 

Instead of an answer, that spellbinding voice reached back with another question, “You aren’t thirsty? You look like you could use a drink, my dear.” 

“No, I’m-”

“In fact, I think we should both drink. You look like a fine vintage that’s been casked in darkness for ages.” 

Veronica was able to close her eyes and shake her head, brushing off the almost drunk feeling she got looking at John and listening to him. “Okay that last thing, I should not have to tell you that that is an unbelievably creepy thing to say.” Ronnie sobered and looked down at her notes to steady herself. ‘I don’t know what the hell is wrong with this guy but the sooner I can get some answers here the better.’ She thought with a deep breath. 

John looked taken aback at her response, as though he hadn’t just said something out of the ordinary but instead she had. “What, does that line normally work on people?” Veronica couldn’t help asking with some sass- she was getting sick of the weird vibe and weird people in this county. 

Straightening up in his seat John adjusted his tie awkwardly. He looked like he was not one to fidget uncomfortably. After a moment he smiled politely and shook his head, “My apologies, Ms. Rook. You are… fascinatingly immune to my normal charms.” It took all of V’s strength to not ask what the hell he was talking about, thankfully for her he continued. “The talks between Ms. Fairgrave and I were far and few between. I wanted to buy the bar but alas she was uninterested in selling.”

Heathers, Buffy dark comedy AU for Halloween.

So I was thinking about how Buffy was the popular girl changed by being the slayer.

What if Heather Chandler is a slayer due to season 6 creating multiple slayers with forty-year-old Xander and Cordelia acting as her Giles in 2010.

I'm thinking of a combo of the 2018 reboot in terms of the Heathers as a whole mixed with the eighties movie and a sprinkling of a few musical traits.

Heather Chandler

2018 Heather C has a lot of baggage and i think a lot of her characterization was very interesting. She is more feral than previous heathers. (She uses a cigar and hair spray on JD and nearly fries his face off!) So I think she could work as someone who slays vampires.

I also want to add some elements from the eighties movie. She's never seen in anything but red. And she does get taken advantage of/ used by others.Probly perfers Mov cocktails to stakes as weapons.

Heather Duke

The genderqueer icon of the 2018 reboot with the sassy one liners. But with their 80's movie/musical role as Heather C's punching bag. Rather then the favorite role. With them bearly makeing the cut as a heather due to being a gay nerd deep down. Their intelligence makes them quite the threat ,when it comes to dastardly plans aginst the forces of darkness.

Heather Mcnamara

Looks like her 2018 reboot self, but with the sweet, niave personality of the eighties movie/ musical. She can be mean but does it as part of the group and or joins the crowd in mocking someone. But on her own she is not going to be cruel. Also restoreing her staus as Chandler's favorite friend, right hand. Yes, she's also a cheerleader! And her flips come in handy aginst demons.

Veronica

She could be another member of the team. But, I'm leaning towards her getting turned and becoming the Heathers personal Angelus/ Faith. All the darkness and resentment from both 2018 and eighties Veronica coming to the surface. She'd be worse then JD knowing all their insecurities. She'd weaponize the crap out of their former friendship.

(I like the idea of her killing JD, i've had it with cool guys like you indeed! Because Vamp Veronica realizes JD is an abusive shit whose useing her.) Vamp Veronica still wants to distroy the system of westenberg.

Bonus, if its partically the Heathers fault Chandler made her get out of the car and walk home alone. Duke and Mcnamara never spoke up aginst this.

7. Do they have any fears? lots! she's scared of everyone she loves and care for leaving her in an assortment of different ways, of failing her town she swore to protect AND a new fear is the Murphy Event... 2! but she would also benefit from having more fears because she tends to disregard her own safety and lean to self sacrifice.

16. Did they want to become detective? Not always, she wanted to be a lawyer, wanted to leave Wayhaven. she studied criminal law but struggled with playing fast and loose with ethics and morals. she wanted to help people, more specifically her hometown, because who else would? so she went through the academy training and after a year or two as a beat cop in The Big City she eventually joined the police in her hometown, for them. she also felt comfortable in what she essentially saw as her fathers old station, becoming detective felt logical and comforting in a way.

22. Did they have a relationship before meeting UB (Bobby/ others)? a few, sometimes she seeks out intimacy, usually in bad places. Her and Bobby are exes, and she's had a few casual relationships that eventuated to nothing. I also think that she would've had a college era relationship with another oc/sometimes wayhaven detective Flick, in that AU they studied law at the same time and while Veronica chose the force instead, Flick would've thrived as a lawyer. they've had a hot and cold antagonistic sort of friends with benefits relationship since then, but they do respect and have soft spots for each other.

26. If given the choice, would they become a vampire? OOF it depends. (looking directly at Adam) like she might be immortal, but to live forever. alone. .. as of book 3 no.

hobby to try: the unrealistic hobby i'd like to get into a fanfiction binding, but that takes materials and resources i do *not* currently have. i think a more realistic answer is i've been meaning to get into marvel comics more.

current au: tbh the main AU i'm working on is a Lance Brunner-centric Post-Crisis fic where i'm completely rewriting his origins to make his death as Robin more significant but still something no one talks about, leading to the ressurection of Jason also reviving Lance and Jason going on his little spree, having no idea he's not the only dead Robin. i've figured out all of the backstory and how i want to characterize Lance, but the actual plot of the fic i'm still working out. i'm leaning toward Lance/Dick as a ship, but i haven't decided. i have so many notes and ideas though and i think it's funny to take a random one-off character from a random 60s comic and actually turn him into something substantial and how he'd shape the Batfamily. trust me i'm so close to infodumping about it here everyday.

i'm also working on a *really* messed up unhealthy Damian/Tim fic, where Damian purposefully breaks the timeline so Tim was never Robin and Damian was the third Robin instead. but when Bruce "dies" Damian realizes he has no idea where to start with finding Bruce so he has to go to a civilian!Tim for help, who has no idea the timeline was changed or that he was ever Robin in a different world. it's gonna be fun and fucked up and full of Damian's jealousy complex over Tim.

Hi everyone! My name is Dylan (she/her. 19) You can refer to me as any nickname you’d like! I’m currently in college and some weeks are busy for me.

I adore interacting with my followers and you can message me whenever. If you feel more comfortable sending a request through DM I wouldn’t mind writing something for you.

3. Who is your favorite character to read? To write?

DOES IT HAVE TO BE ONLY ONE?!?!? If it’s just one, I think my favorite character to read is a very specific portrayal of JD, and bcoz I know who this is I know you know what I mean :p and to write….ooooh that’s hard. I love writing for Mac, Regina, and Addison! There we go, one from all my fave fandoms!

6. When did you start reading and writing fic?

Ooooh I’m gonna date myself here but back in the early days of ff.net/livejournal was my first dip in the water looking at fanworks. I thought it was just so cool and eventually started writing my own fics not that long after I discovered the concept of fanfiction.

9. Which character do you genuinely think you would be really good friends with if they existed in real life?

Ooooooh definitely Mac or Veronica or probably post-bus Cady!

10. Is there a character that you love in fiction, but if they were real you might punch them?

I have this in another ask but Chandler & Regina George. I would absolutely deck the shit outta them irl coz their attitudes suck :p

Ohhhhh so many! For grey’s it’s anything by @addisonmilfgomery but especially TSSOI. Then there’s a specific rejanis Jennifer’s Body AU that I love to reread. And a ton of specific heathers fics that I shall not give away because *you already know* :p

14. What is your favorite part of the writing/editing/posting process?

THE COMMENTS! But also I like the process of combing song lyrics for a title, picking a good passage to act as the summary, and reading my work as a whole for the first time.

18. What are some tropes that others love, but you just tend to avoid?

CHAT FICS. Fuck em. Hate em.

Also anything too easy to screw up, which are also some of my favorite tropes. I have a love hate relationship with magic/werewolf/vampire AUs because yes theyre my favorite but also so easily screwed up. Also anything too campy (like camp counselor AUs)

25. Got any ideas/spoilers for future WIPs you’re willing to share?

THIS IS THE REASON I TOOK SO LONG ANSWERING THIS — I wanted to choose one I haven’t told you about yet, so here’s two! :p

First one is a rejanis art teacher AU in which Regina signs up for some adult art therapy class to try and be more zen and *gasp* to her surprise it’s Janis teaching the class. She has half a mind to walk out the moment she walks in but no, her momma didn’t raise someone who ran from their problems, so she decides to stick out the entire 12 week session thing. Spoiler alert: enemies to friends to eventual lovers

Second one is the mcnamawyer AU of my dreams in which Chandler unalives later in life and leaves her child to Mac and Veronica but *they aren’t together yet* — they don’t even live in the same state — so they have to figure out how to coparent and cohabitate and!!!!! No plot just vibes

• The two of you formally meet after you and Poppy have that supposed truce, and whilst you have seen Veronica before, seeing her close up was a different experience entirely. She's drop dead gorgeous, you can't help but admit and you understand why she's top three alongside Poppy and Chloe because they're all pretty.

• Veronica is much more social than Poppy and Chloe, she's more friendly and actually attempts to befriend you. This is because she doesn't really care if Poppy gets angry, she's got her own platform so she's not scared to make new friends and she knows Poppy's not going to do anything to her.

• The two of you become fast friends and it's really fun because the two of you start to hang out where it's just the two of you. Your favourite spot to hang out is the cute little café by campus, and you learn that Veronica has a major sweet tooth.

• Veronica is also the type of person who's very affectionate, both in the way she speaks and acts. She's very touchy-feely and always likes hugging you whenever she sees you.

• If either of you is having a bad day, expect a lot of memes to be sent, some so obscure that it actually makes you feel better. There's also the fact that if you have spare time or if you're not doing anything the other gets food and drinks from the cafe and the two of you just talk to release stress.

• Veronica's instagram is quickly taken over by you, where it's almost always accompanied by #squadgoals and you just laugh because you didn't really think that you would be friends with her. Not because she wasn't nice or anything, just that she looked so intimidating when you first met. When you tell her about your first impressions she just laughs it off and tells you that she thought you were cute.

• You're confused because is she flirting??? The two of you actually become really close and the whole school notices, a few people start to assume that you're dating but they don't say anything.

• The two of you really like each other, but both of you are oblivious until Poppy and Chloe point it out by pulling you away to give you the talk. Both look intimidating as fuck, and you're highkey scared. "What the fuck is happening between you and Veronica? I swear if you try to hurt her you can kiss Belvoire goodbye." Poppy says whilst Chloe nods her head in agreement.

• You're confused because you and Veronica are just friends, until it clicks. 'Holy shit, am I into Veronica?' you think. (Da doy idiot, everyone thought it was obvious)

• When you finally admit it Poppy and Chloe, you don't notice it but Poppy sort of has a disappointed look. (I know this is for Veronica but I wanted Poppy to be sad because she could've have tried harder to befriend MC)

• "Holy shit, I like Veronica! Can you guys help me? I don't know if she likes me or not." you say and Poppy and Chloe just roll their eyes as they begrudgingly agree.

• Cue Poppy and Chloe being the worst wing women, Veronica gets more confused because what is going on?? Like why are the three of you acting so weird.

• You're about to give up because it looks like Veronica doesn't like you that way. That is until you and the top three girls of Belvoire go clubbing. Veronica notices that you were dancing with another person too close for her comfort, and she's immediately annoyed. She quickly pulls you towards her and glares at the other person who gets the message and leaves you alone.

• You're confused until you see the silent fury in Veronica's eyes. "Jealous V?" you tease and her eyes narrow as she kisses you. "I don't like seeing you with other people. Be mine?" she says and you're left flustered because you genuinely didn't think that she liked you.

• That's how you start dating, and because of this you actually get closer to Poppy and Chloe. The four of you become a force to be reckoned with, and this is because all of you actually become really close and you learn that Poppy and Chloe can actually be sweet when they want to be. All three of them have a soft spot for animals, so the four of you are always seen at the animal shelter volunteering.

• Veronica adores taking pictures of you and posting it on her socials because she wants to show you off. Everyone is confused because are the two of you dating or not? It's kept a secret until someone snaps a photo of you and Veronica kissing.

• You become well known on campus as the laid back couple, who genuinely just have fun no matter what they're doing.

• Be prepared to be in front of the camera, Veronica drags you to do tiktoks with her and you just roll your eyes because you're whipped and you're not complaining if it means that you see Veronica dance.

• She absolutely adores giving you her clothes to wear, especially if her clothes are a bit bigger on you than they are for her. She melts when she sees you and her story is filled by her fawning over how cute you look.

• Lots of PDA, especially when the whole school knows about your relationship. Poppy and Chloe are disgusted, because can you like not. They always make gagging noises whenever you're being affectionate in public, and both of you just give them the finger.

• Always has to be touching you, whether it be your hands, her hand on your thigh or whatever she just has to be touching you in some way.

• Does not get jealous often because she's very confident in your relationship but in the times she does get jealous expect her to kiss you senseless in front of everyone, and you're not gonna complain because she's a very good kisser.

• Arguments don't really happen unless it's about something stupid and in the rare times that you do argue, it becomes a game of who can avoid each other for longer and Veronica always loses because she hates arguing.

• Cuddles every weekend, and you're almost always at Veronica's room, so much so the Zetas think that you live there.

• Expect soft mornings where the two of you just stay in bed, cuddling for warmth and soft kisses being exchanged after waking up.

• Absolutely adores kissing you and leaving marks. Poppy and Chloe tease you by saying "Are you dating a vampire? Wtf your neck is all marked up." and you just smile and give them the finger. "Fuck off, you're just jelly I'm getting some." you quip back and the other two laugh.

• Actually a really good support system with Poppy and Chloe, all of you don't take shit from anyone or each other. You're quick to call each other out if one of you is being a bit bitchy or whatever.

The deputy took a seat on the bar stool and called over the bartender. A blonde woman came to her and said “What can I do ya for?” 

    “Whiskey, neat.” Came her reply as she set a few bills on the worn counter. The woman nodded and got a glass, pouring two fingers before returning the bottle to its shelf. “Business isn’t booming, is it?” V gestured to the sparse tables. 

“No, most people just have some sense. It’s almost dusk.” She replied with a look that said it should be obvious. 

“Listen, er… what’s your name?”

    “Mary May.”

    “Listen, Mary May, I’ve had a long day. Enlighten me will you?” Veronica sipped her drink, regarding Mary May curiously. “Folks around here don’t go out after dark… if they know what’s good for them. Lots of disappearances over the years if you catch my drift, deputy.” She gave Ronnie a pointed look. V sighed, taking another swig, “Are these disappearances related to the most recent, a pastor named Jerome?” The bartender’s eyes widened at the name, “Pastor Jerome… stuck his nose where he shouldn’t have. Now if you don’t mind, I do have other customers.” With a sense of finality, she hurried away to refill drinks on the other end of the bar.

Betty hissed and turned her head away. It didn’t feel like what she’d heard; it was supposed to be a soothing wave of calm and giddiness. Instead, this felt like two very large, very angry mosquitoes were jockeying for the best position to her veins.

“Fidgeting just makes the pain worse,” Jughead mumbled.  His lips ghosted across her skin, sending a flight of gooseflesh up her arm that made the urge to squirm worse.

Instead of thinking about the vampire currently attached to her, Betty bit the inside of her lip and resolutely stared at the peeling paint and rusted tools around her.  It was better than noticing just how very unsexy her first time was.  

Veronica had swooned when she described the first time she’d allowed herself to be bitten by a red haired vamp.  And Betty didn’t really want to remember all the gory details Reggie had relayed to her about his tryst with a vampire moonlighting as a boxer.

This hurt.

At least it took away from the boredom of trailing Honey and Weatherbee.  For the last three weeks they’d found nothing out of the ordinary.  The routine of diners, bars, and bowling alleys was nothing out of the norm for two consummate bachelors who may or may not be selling organs on the black magic market.

Of course, if they weren’t trailing the pair of allegedly upstanding citizens around town, Jughead would never have been foolish enough to have forgotten to eat for three days.  

A small part of her wondered whether he’d really forgotten, or if perhaps he was drawing another line in the sand between them.  The strange dance they’d been playing at for almost a year was still at a standstill.  Despite Betty’s hints and practically outright flirtation, Jughead maintained his aloof, Victorian sensibilities.  

(Damn him for propriety, and damn her for going for the Byronic, colicky types.)

It itched too.  Whatever it was about him, this was ten times worse than a mosquito bite.  She wondered if it would be impolite to ask whether he was done, but then again there were those overtones of the spector-like relationship between them.  

(Perhaps she should ask Cheryl what was in those drinks at the Vixen club.  That came far too close to love potions, though, and Betty was certainly not desperate enough to turn to those.  Those she’d leave to her sister.)

A wet, warm thing drew across her arm, and Betty realized with a start that Jughead had just licked her.  He apologized quickly and wiped his coast sleeve across her arm.

“It helps the skin mend better,” he mumbled looking as apologetic as a dog that had just been stepped on.  

“Oh.”

She hesitated.  What did one say after being used like a blood filled Capri Sun?

“Well, you didn’t miss much,” Betty murmured.  She shifted in her seat and drew her arm towards her face.  In the dim neon light she could see that the skin was indeed healing; only two light pink points were visible on her arm. 

 “Honey-Bee still hasn’t gotten past the entree.  At least you finished quicker than I expected.”

Jughead flushed and turned away from her.  Betty realized too late just what she’d said and couldn’t help the undelicate snort that echoed in the space around them.  As weary as she was growing of this canyon of space between them, moments like these, where the Victorian propriety proved to be as anachronistic as a rotary phone, were amusing enough for Betty to keep him around.

“Thank you,” he said when his pallor returned to it’s normal bleached bone color.  “I’m sorry if it hurt.  I was as gentle as I could be.”

Betty shrugged and leaned her arms against the windowsill.  “I’d say it was just uncomfortable.  Though I did miss the fireworks.”

He quirked an eyebrow.   

“Veronica said the first time she’d been bitten it was the best high of her life.”

“Well she can’t be right all the time,” he said darkly.  

Betty hummed and they went back to their stake out.  

“Do you think they’ll get pumpkin pie this time, or split cherry again?”

“Cherry.  Definitely,” Betty said.  “They had pumpkin last time.”

Thus went one more night in the life of a private investigating duo.

Toni’s body shook with laughter hard enough that she almost fell out of her seat.  Cheryl steadied her, a board grin on her face. 

“You mean our resident Burton-esque Lothario didn’t charm you first?”  Cheryl asked.  

Betty shook her head, wary of her tone.  Cheryl leaned back in her seat and chuckled.

“What’s so funny?” Betty asked.

Toni gasped in a breath of air and brushed tears from under her eyes.  “I knew he liked you, but I didn’t realize he was in this deep.”

Betty’s brow wrinkled and she leaned forward, carefully avoiding the large coffee in front of her.  “Liked me?  Lately he can’t stand to be in the same room with me.”

“Please,” Toni snorted, “if he didn’t want to be near you he’d have bitten and charmed you long ago.  It’s like the greatest -” she paused and glanced at Cheryl.

“Trust.  Or rather, intimacy.  Both things he’s the absolute worst about,” Cheryl said.

Toni nodded.  “When you bite someone, you normally send them into a trance state to keep them from realizing what’s actually happening.  It’s an evolutionary advantage to make sure prey don’t try and fight you off.  Like a drug to keep prey busy while nature takes its course, only the drug keeps them coming back for another.   But when two people share blood and both are aware that it’s happening -”

“Oh.”  

Oh.  

“Who knew our grungy Mr. Cullen could be so vulnerable?  Especially around a witch?”  Cheryl asked in a sing-song voice.  

Her thrill of the revelation was radiating off her in waves and Betty watched as two strangers shifted closer to each other and struck up a conversation while their eyes made promises of later.  Even Toni, mostly immune to Cheryl’s pheromones, shifted closer to her and laced their hands together as she raised her hand in answer.

“But why doesn’t he do something about it?” Betty asked.  Frustration wouldn’t even begin to cover this one, though desperate exasperation might.

“Because he’s old-fashioned,” Toni said.  “Things were much different back then.  One didn’t go about things that would dishonor a woman’s virtue.  Not if you were trying to keep her social standing intact.”

Betty huffed and crossed her arms.  “That’s just stupid,” she muttered.  

Toni snorted.  “Look, if you want to wait for him, we’ll all be dead from the heat death of the universe.  He’s not going to make a move until he knows for certain you love him, and even then it will be more chaste than a co-ed math-letes convention.”

“It’s the new millennium, baby cousin,” Cheryl said with a pointed look.

“Which means I’m -”

“- going to have to take charge,” Cheryl and Toni said in eerie unison.

Another night spent on stake-out.  Only this time, Betty couldn’t keep from sending glances Jughead’s way as she tried to figure out the best way to approach this.  

Eventually, his own curiosity got the better of him.  “Is there something on my face?”

No, but there should be.  

“Did you feed already?”

His eyes narrowed, the cogs in his brain working overtime to decipher a simple question.  

“Yes.  Why do you ask?”

“Good.”

With more convinction than she felt, Betty leaned over and kissed him as hard as she could manage from her perch on the plastic vegetable crate.  Jughead kissed her, a ravenous hunger she hadn’t felt in almost a year.  

“Betty …”

He spoke her word like a glorious sin, and it was all she could do to keep from crawling into his lap. 

“I don’t want -”

Betty pulled back, icy chills washing over her.  She chewed her lip as she searched his face, but found nothing more than restrained longing.

“I know it’s a different century, but I don’t want you to think I’m overstepping any boundaries.”

Leap over them, you idiot, was what she wanted to say, but instead she leaned back and took a breath. 

“Look, Juggie.  I appreciate that, I really do.  But is that the only reason?”

He nodded.  A lock of his hair fell into his eyes, and Betty brushed it back behind his ear.  She left her hand on his check and he moved his head to kiss her palm.  

“Do you love me?”  

Jughead’s lips curved into a soft smile.  “Most ardently.”  

This time, the kiss was slow and sweet, a final revelation in the light of neon lights.
