I'd also love to hear in the tags/reblogs if getting emails makes you feel better/worse than just checking in on your AO3 inbox. Like, do you cherish each a little more because you get the individual pings rather than letting a few pile up on AO3 before checking? Or are you more aware of the pings in a bad way that way and it's easier/better to not have your email inbox involved?

It’s VBS time again at church and once again I’m the craft coordinator. The same group of older ladies always help me and they’re lovely and it’s such a fun time but today’s craft was one that was rather challenging! But if you know the exact way to do it it’ll take you 3 minutes and then you’re bored for 17 more minutes so I told the oldest age groups I’m going to set the example down in front of you, figure it out for yourself how to put it together.

The kids LOVED this, of course. They love having a challenge and then feeling accomplished once they figure it out (because it was a tricky craft too there were a couple very fiddly steps). These older ladies, though, do not do well with the “let them figure it out themselves” method. Because each one of them would fixate on a child or two and be so overbearing like “no do this first no do this no not like this” to the point they were touching the kids things and rearranging them and!!!!! Ugh lol. I kept being like “let her do it” and “no let him figure it out don’t touch the craft until they ask for specific help.”

I just don’t know how to get them to be more hands off lol. I’ve found I have this problem with specifically older volunteers who always get into their head something can only happen one way and they get so particular trying to get the kids do it just the one way. 😣 tomorrow is necklaces so hopefully they all chill lol.

Yk i do believe the kids will adjust to Bruce being the dad and Jason being their brother but at the same time... Attie cries for a week straight when Jason goes to college, Mara broods and goes non verbal and Damian doesn't know how to act

LMAO well I’ll tell you a secret, Jason doesn’t “go away” for college. They’re stuck with him for a while. He’s gonna be living in the manor and getting his degree right there in Gotham and/or metropolis. They absolutely would lose it if he did, that’s why he won’t ❤️

Mara and Damian rolling with Jason's beef with Tim is hilarous. They don't even remember his name most of the time. Jason's been stewing in silence about Tim but his dislike shows somehow because they're like I don't know who the fuck this guy is but if my brother hates him ITS ON SIGHT

LMAO. Mara is super indifferent but that’s just her defense mechanism. She makes herself not care about things so she can’t be hurt by it, so she’s generally indifferent to Tim being there. Damian is very confused by it. Jason hates Tim clearly but Father likes Tim and Tim is *there* and he seems fine? He hasn’t done anything to annoy Damian yet and he’s not even a son but also Jason hates him so maybe he shouldn’t like him either? 😂 Damian understands now that Tim is not a brother but Jason thought he was. Attie doesn’t know this! She still doesn’t know Jason is adopted. She just hasn’t yet brought up the Tim sized elephant in the room. She definitely was listening to Bruce explain why Tim is there though.

I will say, off screen Tim is currently still hanging out with Damian and Mara lol. Attie totally ditched them and left just Mara playing uno with him. Damian was sitting in the room with them. Idk what they got up to together though I’d have to think on it. Dick might be there with them now, too. Not sure. I gotta get the logistics right as I write the next chapter lol

Do you think the kids will always think of Jason as their person, even as they grow older and closer to Bruce or Dick?

Yeah I think so, there will definitely be a special bond to him. I think they will adapt to Bruce specifically being the dad. Jason will still be their older brother they listen to and respect but he’ll get to take on the brother role more as time goes on and he relaxes more in the knowledge that Bruce can and will do a good job with them.

The fact Jason is so dad-coded that even though Bruce and his car collection are RIGHT THERE, Attie only thinks of Jason's car as "our"

Excerpt:

Jason pulled into a spot in front of his favorite ice cream parlor and just sort of paused, before putting the car in park. 

What was he even doing? 

“Everything all right?” Bruce asked. He gave Jason a concerned look, but turned his attention to Attie, when the little girl stared bouncing in the backseat. 

“They have a playground,” she exclaimed, right into Jason’s ear. She leaned forward into Jason’s space to point out the front windshield at the little park in the lot next to the parlor. “Jay we have to come back with Damian and Mara.” 

“We’ll come back,” Jason said, as he forced himself to put the car in park and turn the engine off. 

He was getting Attie ice cream, that’s what he was doing. 

Not. 

Not inviting Bruce out for ice cream. Because why would he be doing that? 

Yeah. Bruce was just there. That was it. 

“Come on,” Attie shouted, as she shook the back of Jason’s seat.
