Riddle wanted to invite you to an unbirthday party. You were his significant other of course he wanted you to attend. He also wanted to show off a little bit, though it was only natural to want to show your partner the best of yourself. A few times you'd asked him to let you help with setting up. Those were his favourite times. He'd sent you a letter invitation - as he usually does- but you hadn't responded to it yet. There was a small ball of nerves forming in the pit of his stomach.

As he climbed the steps to The Ramshackle dorm, he heard laughter. With a slightly angry hand, he knocked on the dorm. His anger lessened ever so slightly you answered the door, still smiling. "Why didn't you respond to my letter?" 

He asked, trying to hide his fear behind irritation. He looked past you and saw streamers hanging from the dirty dorm ceiling.

"Well, today's my birthday. It would be pretty rude to show up to an unbirthday party on my birthday."

Oh.

The ghosts dragged him into Ramshackle and made him miss his own unbirthday party 

He felt so bad, but doesn't let it show too much

The photographer had called for a 15-minute break and Vil had quickly checked his Magicam feed. On there he saw you'd posted a photo of a cake you had baked yourself (he could tell). There was a caption under the photo which said 'Happy Birthday To Me!'

Rook likes to watch you from afar. This is not new information. The Frenchman is almost always nearby, just observing. It brought a sense of calm to your life knowing that he was never too far away. Whether you’d just grown accustomed to the feeling of him being around, or he’d gotten much better at hiding, you couldn’t feel his eyes watching that day. You saw him later walking in the hallway, but you never interacted with him that day beyond a small wave and a smile. You can’t always spend time with your boyfriend, life is busy sometimes. So, you spent the day with yourself and your friends. He popped up later that night, in the middle of your own little birthday party. How he found out you had no idea, maybe he didn’t know and just wanted to spend time with you. Whatever the reason may be, he was here and you were happy about it.

Honestly thinks it's funny that you managed to keep this a secret from him for so long, but still tries to hide it.

Azul hadn't seen you all day and he'd started to get worried. You didn't have a lot of classes that overlapped, but you would normally spend lunches together. Today was a weekend, which made him even more nervous.

Luckily or not, weekends were when the lounge was most busy so he threw himself into his work to distract from the growing thoughts that swirled in his head.

He made it until past noon before he left to go look for you.

He checked all your usual spots but couldn't find you or your friends. When he finally checked your dorm, he heard loud laughter from the backyard. He walked along the side of the house and spotted you and Grimm having a water balloon fight. One hit you in the face and you slipped, laughing all the way down. 

When Grimm spotted him, his laughter died down. You turned your head to see Azul standing at the entrance to your little overgrown garden.

Before he could ask what was going on he saw a small cake on one of the nearby tables. You hit him in the face with a balloon, the plastic sticking to his glasses.

Congrats! You now have to comfort him for hours on your birthday because he's sad 😢

But seriously he knows well enough what it's like to be alone on your birthday and feels horrible that he'd unknowingly subject you to that. 

Spends the rest of the day with you doing what you want

At the end of the day, he has a little impromptu dinner at the Lounge, free of charge! (The price is actually a kiss on the cheek)

A baby. His baby. You were pregnant with his baby.

"Oh... baby boy... I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. I should have remembered to wear a condom. You don't need this, you're busy and you're saving us all. Hugs and kisses were given to each other that night, talking about baby names, how to tell the rest of your friends, the logistics of pregnancy and childbirth in space. But mostly, reassurances of love and care.

Obviously, Rin x Shiemi is a given for me right now, but I strongly enjoy the fact that it wasn't always the case and that I used to like Yukio x Shiemi more at first (because that's how the narrative seemed written) ! For more details, please read this post. :)

Anyway, I love the back and forth between them, I love that she's the one who's hesitating because of her own circumstances rather than the more typical Shonen case of "he didn't notice her until the end". You know, because women can have romantic feelings for a guy but other pressing things to also deal with in life.

The fact Izumo-chan knows her secret and tries to encourage her is also a great part of it and I'm glad Shiemi has a girl friend who can help her with this (not just recently, but ever since Rin asked her to go out with him). :D

Meanwhile, Rin is being a pretty respectful guy about it and we stan him for that ! He wasn't pissed about being rejected nor did he insist, he's a good kid. Anyway, they're endgame for sure, I have 0 doubt !

Shiro x Yuri, who loved each other despite death parting them, is also beautiful writing, even more so considering Yuri is written as a survivor of domestic abuse. Maybe there's an alternate reality that Mephisto knows in which they managed to grow old together. :) One can hope.

If it weren't for the current age difference, I'd be a more avid supporter of Yukio x Shura, for reasons presented here. I think they're a pair who makes a lot of sense, narratively speaking, especially since the Aomori arc. But hey, since Shiemi somehow managed to grow 2 years in an alternate reality (see ch144) and with Satan warping time & space, who knows, it may still happen one day !

Otherwise, Yukio losing his composure and shooting the King of Lust creep in the face to help Shura, despite urging Rin to leave her fight alone the whole time, was simply hilarious.

Lastly, I have a big fondness for Juuzou x Mamushi ! Even though, it more or less came out of nowhere during the Impure King arc, it still made a lot of sense. x) Mostly, I love how we got to witness their wedding and how happy they currently are.

Toudou ruined a lot in the series, but I'm happy Mamushi survived his schemes and still had a place to call home. :)

Other than that, I sometimes wonder about Shima x Izumo and Suguro x Izumo, but without any certainty.

For the former, I don't know how serious Shima's crush on her is and Izumo simply isn't too trusting of him. And besides, I think Renzou has a lot of other personal realizations to reach first, about his family and about Myo Dha, so romance will simply have to wait.

For the latter, I enjoy their bickering and they have a few scenes here and there that I think give off shipping vibes, but they do not seem to be a primary romantic focus of Sensei either. So we'll see. :)

Well. They're all very stubborn. They hate being told what to do and they don't particularly like the idea of changing their ways. It's their body after all, they don't understand why these other guys won't just let up. It's not like he did a good job with his time or anything, so he should leave it to me. I may not have done amazing but I will! I don't want to leave things in his hands, who knows what will happen.

That way of thinking makes self help books REALLY hard, because they all want to be right and differ juuuust enough to butt heads. They can't settle on a host, nobody wants to listen to anybody, why should I work with you? Look what you did with your time.

However, they all like to learn. They also all like to Figure Out. My answer to this question is nonfiction (how-to books, historical books, political books, etc) and mysteries!

Haise isn't quite into super mopey gorey stuff like Kuro is, so finding the right mystery can be tough. Add a good romance or some lively enough humor and they can find middle ground!

I like to think of them in a book store or library, looking over hundreds of books trying to appease as many of them as they can. This one's too childish. I don't like the tone of this one. Another one with a ghoul plot twist, yawn. This one has romance! Is there a sex scene? Because I don't particularly want to read that - especially not with you. We're all basically the same guy! I don't really have a whole lot in the way of concrete headcanons regarding Keith & James' past, it's more nebulous ~vibes~, but let me give it my best shot:

So first thing's first, they met upon starting middleschool at the ripe young age of 11 with that delightful hormonal cocktail and all the dysfunctional emotions it entails a-brewing.

Keith's dad had been dead some three years at this point, and his foster placements had gone up in flames enough times that he'd been recently, but rather permanently, placed in a local group home. That in mind, he's all but given up on making actual human connections because these things seem to just never quite work out for him; better that he give up trying altogether, and save himself the hurt, but then... there's James.

Keith's already snagged the desk by the window in the far back—the best spot, as far as he's concerned—and is as happy to ignore and be ignored by his classmates as they file in for sixth period physics, until- until he walks in, all loud laughs and cheeky smiles, with a gaggle of kids hanging off his every word and more effortless charisma than any pre-teen boy should ever really have the right to.

And then gunmetal eyes sort of slide across the room—like he knew he was being watched before Keith even realised he was watching—all lazy arrogance and stupid hair, and he's looking Keith up and down and raising an eyebrow and- Keith looks away, mouth drawn and shoulders tight. Kids like that like to fight kids like him, he knows, and he cannot afford to get chewed out on his first fucking day for god's sake.

But it's not just physics because why would it be, no, over the coming week Keith finds that James Griffin—and it's no surprise to learn he's from money with a name like that—shares at least half his classes, P.E. among them, which is where it truly beings.

"It" being their... rivalry, Keith supposes.

He's not even sure who started it, just as likely to be both of them as neither, but when they're put on opposing teams for a "friendly" game of football, what begins as Keith making the most of his natural dexterity—skirting around lumbering opponents, nimble as a cat—turns into Griffin hunting him and only him down across the pitch like a damn bloodhound. "That's the game kid" the coach tells him, as if, by the end of it, he hadn't been systematically cornered and corralled by the other team irrespective of whether or not he had the damn ball, entirely at Griffin's direction, "like it or lump it". Keith, still wheezing with ribs that protest every breath after a particularly rough tackle, finds himself quite particularly disinclined to lump it, and certainly doesn't like it one bit.

Definitely not.

So Griffin pushes, Keith pulls. Griffin hits, Keith kicks. Griffin scratches, Keith bites.

But it's not bullying, never that: Keith's known his fair share—a scruffy orphan with anger issues is an easy target, he supposes—and this simply isn't it. Griffin evens defends him, once, in the particularly chilly January of their first year when a meat-headed trio think it funny to soak Keith's shirt during gym and leave it out to freeze; without pause or hesitation, Griffin had quietly handled them with more snide diplomacy than Keith himself would ever wield, and though the details of that closing whisper-threat were known only to he who'd received it, the sudden pallor of face and contrition of manner had left quite the impression.

...As did the cozily lined sweater that James—with goosebumps rising on his arms and cheeks already pinking from the chill—had thrown into Keith's arms from across the changing room, citing the pinprick hole in the cuff as reason enough for him to have been planning to rid himself of it anyway.

They're not friends—how could they be? James is intelligent and popular and so annoyingly good at things he damn near makes an art out of breathing—but for the first time since he was orphaned, Keith finds himself with one singular constant that he can rely on to be infuriatingly charmingly stubbornly there: never shying from Keith's sharp edges nor being swayed by the cruel whispers that haunt him everywhere he goes, James is just... James. Disagreeable. Incomprehensible. Unwavering.

And maybe, just a little bit like Keith.

Oh, and I'm also inclined to believe that (both in this au and canon) that past altercation seen in s7ep01 where Keith goes "I can out-fly anyone in this building" and James fires back with "Oh yeah? Is that what mommy and daddy told you before-" [gets punched in the face] was a classic case of projection on James' part: he strikes me as a kid whose parents expect nothing less than perfection—not only that he could be the best, but that he should—so I think that Keith getting the group in trouble, coupled with James just outright projecting his own experiences, led to a cruel comment (and worse for the fact that I believe James didn't actually know Keith was an orphan until after this instance).

i will also preface this by saying i do not have OCD myself but i do have some similar compulsions from (what is probably) tourette's, so if anything i say/write is shit, please please correct me.

shiro is not necessarily bad at any techniques, it's just really fucking hard to follow a recipe when your brain is constantly steering you in a different direction.

a lot of the times it's stuff like "i have to keep stirring i can't stop right now" or "if i turn this off or move the pan right now Bad Things will happen and i can't do that."

adam does try and help out with that but there are times when shiro doesn't even feel able to let someone else take over for fear that they'll do it "wrong"

because of this shiro tends to prefer like,, crockpot or rice cooker recipes since once you put everything in, it's pretty hands off

it can still be a bit hard to prepare all the ingredients correctly ("no i really need to cut this piece smaller. now i need to cut that piece smaller because it's disproportionate. oh my god now i need to cut-" or "i Cannot add more of this ingredient. i know i need to. i Can't")

but at least it helps to a pretty solid degree. he's the master of hands off recipes.

(this is also good for Tired days or In Pain days because. yknow. muscle disorder.)

also soups and slow-cooked foods are good. left the stove on for a few extra minutes? no problem everything will be a-okay. turned off a lil bit early? that is fine everything is still edible and tasty

Whenever you play the game, the characters in your team are able to hear the background music as well. > Although faintly in the distance, it’s definitely there. Some characters despise it, while others have to resist bobbing their head up and down to the beat. > The music disappears when you put them off the team or when your log off.

Putting characters into the teapot is exactly as fanarts depicts it. > The traveler comes up to them with the silverware and politely asks them to join. Characters grow dizzy when you spin them around for a while. The code is the only thing keeping them upright when you spin them for the twentieth time-

Some of the voice lines about food I had to mention:

Gorou sobbing in front of everyone because the logistics division added onion to his food

Heizou slipping in and out to grab a quick bite whenever he has to eat dinner at the Police Station (he would be gone the moment you’d try to feed him anything he doesn’t want to)

Dori will eat the charcoal-baked cakes but only at the cost of your mora. Fortunately for everyone, you don’t seem to know where your (now) missing 500.000 mora went

Hi!! So I’m pretty new to your content (and this fandom as a whole) and I was wondering if you could explain the origin of the hunger au? I’m super interested in the world building and I’d love to know how it came about!!

HEY ANON!!! :] ooooh okay like the origin of the idea??? Straight up it stemmed from a concept i started noodling on at random with a friend on discord. It was about the idea of watcher!grian pretending to be an avian and like, finding some aspects really accessible for him (like bedding and whatnot) vs some really viscerally uncomfortable (vocal calls). And then i, in true me fashion, went off on a tangent of "ooooh so what WOULD make that uncomfortable for him????" which i quickly settled on being "Watchers have really deep vocal registers so forcing his voice really really high all the time probably strains his throat"

And then it just sorta spiraled from there. I remember i was trying to establish WHAT watchers were as organisms just so i could really dig into the differences between what grian was vs what he was pretending to be, and in the process i decided they were mid-food chain predators, who were prey for something else, something that no longer existed-- and then i went "OMG. WHAT IF PARASITES" and started going crazy on researching parasitic wasps 😂😂😂😂😂

After i established what i wanted watchers to be, i naturally started thinking abt players, and then subsequently player culture, which led to thinking abt servers, and the mechanics of how they form and how they collapse, so on and so forth!!! I just sorta naturally tend to go "okay so if this is a thing then how does that impact everything else" and then start pursuing the rabbit hole wherever it ripples out to :]

I think ive posted the screenshots of my friend and i's convo leading into hunger au's first conception (which was in SEPTEMBER OF LAST YEAR!!! HOLY SHIT!!!! As a fan of Dick and Damian I was looking forward to your reaction to Shiro and Keith! Hope you’re having a blast so far!

Yeeees! This scene has got me so messed up rn, I literally can't make myself settle down to sleep because I'm vibrating too much. When I finish the show, I may indeed do some post about the Shiro and Keith relationship. (And probably somehow relate it to Dick and Damian bc that's just how my brain works... like my brain has literally already done that by comparing that ^ scene to one from a fic where Damian decapitates Dick... like dismembering the man you respect the most/are most loyal to??? hello?? why does my brain find enjoyment in that?? Sick and twisteddd!!)
