I have this theory that the Warner siblings are Set animals (like from ancient Egyptian lore), so the rules of mere mortals don't apply to them. One of Set's many domains is disorder and chaos, so I think it checks out.

Or, maybe they're the offspring of Set (conceived while he was in his animal form, so that's why they resemble Set animals) and the Hounds of Tindalos. That's why they have to be kept in the round Warner Brothers Tower--there are no corners through which they can escape (but they've found other ways of getting out).

But they're not malicious like the Hounds are said to be; they're just a little mischievous.

Or maybe there's some Fair Folk in there too, I don't know.

Development

Scarlett, formerly “Tate” and then “Shayla”, was an oddity among the RS/ICT cast in that she was added to the comic on a whim. After her first few appearances, her design motif settled into that of an old-timey rubber hose toon, hence her pie eyes.

The character eventually abandoned this theme (largely because she was already far too not dead to have been alive and working during that era) and temporarily became Amber.

Scarlett’s current color came about when Rosie, the original Scarlett, became Violet’s daughter as opposed to her sister. Rosie needed to be a shade of either pink or violet for her dessert theme naming to make sense, and the former being chosen left her old position up for grabs. Amber originally held this name, but Scarlett ultimately got it instead (trading colors with her in the process) because a month after Rosie (still named Scarlett at the time) was initially conceived, Pokémon TOTALLY STOLE MY IDEA and I eventually decided to just double down on the gag by keeping “Scarlett” and Violet related. Scarlett was then promoted from side character to main character to fill the void of a red-orange type Drewman in the main cast. As a side effect, more emphasis was put on her being entertaining and tricky than her simply being hardcore to separate her from Tyler, who was added to the main cast alongside her.

I would posit that Yakko, Wakko, and Dot Warner could kill Macbeth, as they were born on paper.

The Warner Brothers (and the Warner Sister) are an... interesting case. There have been numerous different explanations of the Warners' origins, though of course, in true Animaniacs fashion, these all massively conflict with each other. Several episodes begin with/mention the premise of the trio trying to find their parents (Yakko once speculates that their parents are pencils), though there have also been several implications that the three of them are royalty, to the point where in Wakko's Wish, we see a family portrait of the three siblings as young children with their parents, Sir William and his wife:

At the same time, however, we have "The Warners' 65th Anniversary Special" (the Season 1 finale), which details at length the exact animator who drew them, his boss, and their first appearances in cartoons in-universe. Here, it says their creator was Lon Borax, an animator who went insane from being overworked by his boss Weed Memlo (Good night, everybody!). Borax created them at 2:43AM and made them smash the intended main character, Buddy, with a mallet, before Borax ran away from the studio.

Dot is definitely able to kill Macbeth under Gender Clause either way (and arguably Wakko as well), but ignoring that for a moment: If we accept the idea that the Warner Siblings are royalty and have actual parents, then they would not apply for the UBC or BPC. But if we accept the idea that the Warner Siblings were brought to life in-universe as drawings (whether by Lon Borax or by Yakko's pencil theory), then they apply for both the Unconventional Birth Clause AND Birth Parent Clause.

So, ultimately, it comes down to what continuity you consider as "canon," though considering that this is Animaniacs we're talking about, there are far more cannons than canons.

Sorry that there's no clean answer here! Dot can definitely still kill Macbeth, though. Thank you for your submission!

I’ve been listening to Jim Cummings’ podcast and he pointed out that a lot of VAs don’t like how WB refuses to commit to a regular full time cast for the Looney Tunes unlike Disney where if you’re cast as one of Mickey and Friends you basically have a guaranteed gig for life barring some exceptions (Mickey having a different VA for the Paul Rudish Mickey cartoons and the Chip ‘n Dale movie)

I saw a theory somewhere that WB doesn’t want another Mel Blanc - because they don’t want another VA with enough star power to demand higher wages. And I think third theory has some merit especially since Mel was training his son Noel to be his successor and apart from a handful of “Tiny Toons” episodes he never took his dad’s place

@digamma-f-wau asked: I'm not sure how true this is, but one thing I've heard relating to the post-Mel Looney Tunes voice actors is that all of the regular VAs have to reaudition for each new project, which results in the VAs varying from project to project; see how Bugs Bunny's VA often oscillated between Jeff Bergman, Greg Burson, Billy West, and Joe Alaskey. Heck, the fact that Bergen nigh-consistently lands the role as Porky is actually pretty unusual.

YEAH, i was just going to parrot what Digamma said here (thanks and hi Digamma!!) i forget where i've heard it (likely the pig himself) but i know Bob Bergen for instance had to/still has to reaudition--his audition for the original Space Jam was reading Hamlet's soliloquy in Porky's voice which i would've PAID to hear. i don't really have much to add on here other than i do agree it's pretty ridiculous, but i guess makes for interesting history! i was just made aware of this the other day, i've heard Billy West do Bugs, Elmer (and i wish he'd do him more... best Fudd past Arthur Q Bryan, bar none), and Porky, but Billy West DAFFY is a very new one to me

this does also make me think about how Joe Alaskey voiced Bugs and Daffy in the Laff Riot pilot... i wish they kept him :') Jeff Bergman does a pretty solid Bugs, at times a bit too bored sounding for my tastes but i understand the consistency in casting him. not a very big fan of his Daffy, though i was impressed hearing his voice for the duck in some of his stuff for the '90s. feel like some 2010s productions had issues with people like Bergman and Dee Bradley Baker (WHO I LOVE. and i actually really love his Daffy in a twisted way. i love his Daffy as a fan of SpongeBob who has heard and CONTINUES TO HEAR his voice in like, every third incidental on the show, and i hear an amalgam of those incidentals of his voice for Daffy--his duck is great if you're a fan of Baker himself as an actor, but maybe not so much on the merits of a specifically Daffy voice) whose voices for the duck kinda sound like "just some guy with shades of a lisp".

this also just made me remember that Rob Paulsen voiced Porky in the first episode of Animaniacs which is... a choice. the refusal for consistency is very odd and puzzling, but it does make fascinating history

My personal favorite Stupid Cartoon Theory is that every ‘Animaniacs’ cartoon focused on the Warner Siblings in an setting that’s not the present day Warner Movie Lot (e.g. the Warner Siblings meet Michelangelo, the Warner Siblings go to Sweden, the Warner Siblings in Moby Dick) is actually one of the in-universe cartoons the Warner Siblings starred in back in the 1930’s before they were sealed - which were all buried because were 'too zany' and ‘they didn’t make any sense’........ because the Warner Siblings kept making nonsensical jokes which were actually pop-culture references to 60+ years in the future.

I was thinking how the warners showing red noses in their 1930's shorts didnt make much sense, Since colored tv wasnt a thing back then(yeah yeah i know it's too much realism for a 90's cartoon)

So then i was like "why would they only color the noses red?"

And it's only that color so it was really interesting to think about, and yeah i came to the realization that Spielberg is just making a reference to a movie that he Made and got out the same year as animaniacs and that the film is Made to be black and white and only shows the color red on a girls coat.

Welp, I finally finished watching the Timon and Pumbaa series and all in all, I really liked it. While it does have its flaws, it reminds me a lot of Animaniacs and it's a pretty fun ride. I love the theory that the whole show is basically a fever dream from a weird bug they ate (or possibly Rafiki's fanfic), it explains so much. The animation quality varies but when it's good, it's beautiful. Beethoven's Whiff and Bumble in the Jungle and The Sky is Calling? Great stuff. Honestly, The Sky is Calling might be my favorite episode, it's so silly and sweet.

The writing is also hilarious, though I can see why it's not everybody's cup of tea. There's a lot of high energy and slapstick and breaking the fourth wall and again, I'm a big Animaniacs and Looney Tunes fan and I genuinely love that stuff but to each their own. Some moments had me screaming and I can't give enough kudos to the voice cast, they're so amazing and giving it their all.

The heart of the show really is Timon and Pumbaa's relationship, though. As much as they bicker and have their misunderstandings, I love how soft and loyal and ride or die they are. Every time they reunited or gave a speech about how much the other meant to them-- (clutches heart) They're unironically one of my favorite Disney couples, even if the mouse is too cowardly to confirm it.

(AND NOW FOR THE FLAWS SECTION, I GOTTA RAMBLE ABOUT A COUPLE THINGS)

I feel like I gotta talk about Timon's characterization. Not gonna sugarcoat it, he can be an ASSHOLE in some episodes and while he (usually) learns a lesson, sometimes the show just lets him get away with it and yeahhh…I can see why that's a breaking point for some fans. Rafiki even called him a meerkat brat in one episode and I was like, "Well, he's not wrong." I guess it depends on your mood and how much you're willing to deal with his shtick for comedy and plot reasons. I definitely prefer his personality in the movies but there were enough funny and wholesome moments to keep him from being completely awful.

Another issue is the way they write women in the show. Aside from Shenzi and a couple others, they're mostly one-note and it makes me sad. I realize it's a comedy and it's not that deep but Animaniacs had Dot, Slappy, Rita, Hello Nurse, Minerva, Marita, Nora, Julia, etc. Not to mention, all the other iconic ladies from the Disney Afternoon lineup.

I know fandom loves to dunk on female characters (especially if they're love interests) and I don't wanna add to that dumpster fire but unfortunately, Timon and Pumbaa's love interests were pretty bland. Sharla had a couple funny moments but Tatiana was more of a plot device than a character. She had about three lines and the way they treated her like a prize to be won was just yikes. The episode Lights, Camera, Traction gave me secondhand embarrassment as well. Timon basically spends the whole time trying to get a kiss from a female meerkat (who doesn't even have a name) and he kinda comes off like Phil from Hercules and it's really…ew.

It's disappointing because in the end, it felt like they were only there because somebody in the writer's room or maybe a higher-up said, "THIS SHOW'S GETTING TOO FRUITY. LET'S GIVE THEM SOME GIRLS." It's some heterononsense, I tell ya. I'm glad that there's more variety in The Lion Guard anyway, even if it does fall into some of the same patterns. (Bunga and Binga? Really?)

Aside from that, though, it's not a bad show for what it is. It's a lot of fun and chaotic and heartwarming at times and if you're looking for something zany and unserious, I would still recommend it.

Undertale started it all I was an anime kid before that

Cup head hit me right in the head and directed me to a more cartoony path that I’ll probably be dying on

Stick figure fandom taught me dynamic poses(and drawing ball faces but that’s not really a positive aspect in the long run XD)

Selling adopts taught me character design

Edds world… made hoodies my default clothing to draw :’)

Rottmnt had some crazy talented artists at the time I learned a lot about colors and shape language

Was in the Animaniacs fandom for a while, it made my style even more cartoony more rubberhose

Learned my lineart from comic books specifically the IDW tmnt series Jennika special I adore that art I was reading it under microscope

My backgrounds are highly inspired by Hilda

I learned a shit ton about illustration composition and color theories while hyperfixating on Ink sans

DCA fandom trained my storytelling skill, i came up with so many interesting concepts and made a ton of comics

D.A.M.N Crew Headcanons Part 3 (Ft. Kody, Xavier, and Avior)

Not as many Kody and Xavier headcanons as I wish there would be, but they’re still there. Enjoy!

- Caelum had his front tooth kicked out by one of his older brothers on accident.

- Freelancer will never let anyone else crack the eggs if they’re baking something. It always has to be them, not even Caelum can do it if they’re around.

- Damien has busted his ass while skating once and never touched a skateboard again.

- Lasko can use a hoverboard but lives every second in anxiety and fear when the low battery sound plays.

- Huxley’s instagram is just full of pictures of his moms and rocks with googly eyes.

- Lasko and Huxley say “Golly” unironically.

- Caelum enjoys chocolate ice cream.

- Freelancer prefers French Vanilla.

- Xavier has sung “Nations of the World” from the Animaniacs perfectly after only watching it once.

- Gavin can do the “disappearing thumb” trick.

- He’s done it in front of Caelum but Caelum started to cry after he saw it.

- Damien can write and speak in cursive.

- Damien can understand Russian script.

- Huxley has always wanted to give Damien a piggyback ride, and only got to do it after they got together. It was the best thing ever. For Huxley, anyway.

- Lasko likes to watch Ni-Hao Kai Lan.

- Whenever someone tells Freelancer to pose, they always do a peace sign.

- Gavin bullies people on Discord.

- When Freelancer and Gavin first met, Freelancer genuinely didn’t know he was getting sucked off until he mentioned it.

- Caelum likes growing his hair out, so whenever Delphinus says it’s time to cut it, he flies to the highest altitude he can muster and just…stays there…until Delphinus gives up. He’s done this for a year and a half now.

- Kody’s eyes are usually glossy, like he’s about to cry. It’s ironic because he hasn’t cried since the 5th grade.

- Huxley has cut his hair into bangs before, never again.

- When Lasko sneezes, it evolves into a series of annoying tiny sneezes that leaves his nose red.

- Damien would rather die than use Airpods.

- Xavier has always wanted a BIG dog, but never got the chance to get one.

- Caelum has his own section in Freelancer’s dorm where he can play and sleep.

- Gavin heard what happened to Avior when he tried to rift back to Aria and said “And people ask me why I don’t rift back home anymore”.

- Gavin has called Avior a “dickrider” before.

- Freelancer is FASCINATED by Vampires.

- Lasko owns a robe that reaches past his feet.

- Huxley belly flops onto pools for fun.

- Damien hates tanning.

- When Caelum heard about the Nintendo EShop shutting down, he begged and cried for Freelancer to hack his 3DS since Gavin and Delphinus had no idea how to. Freelancer had to look up how to do it, and spent the night doing it, but it was easier than they thought.

- Kody randomly walks around his house in jeans and flip flops while being shirtless.

- Gavin believed in the “Talking Angela is stalking you” theory.

- Lasko refuses to download Twitter.

- Freelancer developed their powers in the 6th grade when someone was picking on them, and hid them from their family for 4 years in fear of what they could do with them. Their parent(s) found out after they froze their room while having a breakdown via stress.

- Huxley played spin the bottle at a party with his friends a few years ago, and when the bottle landed on Xavier, they immediately began kissing with no question, hesitation, or awkwardness.

- Caelum hates Baby Shark.

- Lasko has a sleep mask, a bed that regulates temperature, 7 pillows, and a surround sound system that plays rain sounds at night.

- When Damien first came into his room, he was appalled at how comfortable it looked.

- Caelum makes hot cocoa and then puts it in the fridge to cool down.

- Huxley’s moms owns 3 cats. One rarely moves, and the other two are menaces.

Animaniacs s3 spoilers

When Computer Julia told Brain that she felt trapped in her marriage, that it was all fake and tried to kill them obviously, that reminded me of OFMD and Ghosts US and the marriages between a straight woman and gay man. That kind of media is similar to this, because those women also felt at some point trapped in their loveless relationships. The theory of Brain making a fake reality where he can live out his hetero lie may not be completely intended, but it still rings true in a lot of ways (because I said so). The gay metaphor lives on in my heart 😭
