in (belated) honour of Trans Day of Visibility, the next tournament will be:

Who is the most trans Starkid character????

(obviously no trans person is MORE or LESS trans than another, btw. This is just for fun!!! Another way to phrase it is “who is the most widely understood/coded/headcanoned as trans Starkid character,” but that would take up HELLA space).

tbh I get kind of annoyed when people say they didn't like Ani (or haven't even given it a chance) because they never saw or disliked star wars, because I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who doesn't care for Batman outside of HMB, or for the Oregon Trail game, or (most of us) who have come to despise Harry Potter, but all of those musicals have still gotten so much love. don't get me wrong, it's okay if Ani isn't your thing, but to just say 'yeah I'm not interested in Star Wars' feels a bit weird to me. because really the only criticism I ever see about the show is that people didn't get the jokes because they didn't know Star Wars (and I can go on a whole different rant about that because the STAR WARS-star wars jokes are like 5-10% of the comedy), or that it felt weird to not have the actors singing on stage. I have never seen people criticise the story or characters or anything, so to ignore the whole 2 hour parody show because you aren't interested in the source material feels kind of superficial

also this isn't an invitation to bash Ani in the notes. you can have your reasons to dislike it but if you feel the need to share them you can make your own post.

Ok making a new post because I reposted my other one five times and somehow no one saw it.

I just bought A Very Starkid Reunion and this fucking video is lagging roughly every two seconds, this lag will last from a split second pause to over a minute and I CANNOT fix it. Every now and then there’s a few minutes where it doesn’t pause and I get hopeful but nope. Just pauses again.

It’s not a problem with my wifi, I can watch VHSCCs completely fine, I can use anything else that uses wifi perfectly, I used a hotspot and nothing changed. Does anyone else deal with this or does anyone know how I can fix it. It is legitimately unwatchable and the 2 hour watch would turn into 5

It’s taken 19 minutes to watch 6 minutes of footage. I will genuinely need help if I’m ever going to watch this show and get my money’s worth

Most notable Starkid cast members?

Starkid has had a lot of different cast members in their shows through the years and I started wondering who has been in the most shows and how many shows someone would have to be in for them to feel like a "proper" Starkid. I could have looked up to see if anyone has compiled this information but instead I decided to do it myself!

I went through the cast lists of all fourteen live stage shows they have uploaded to their channel (so including VHS Christmas Carol but not Nightmare Time or any other digital series) and here's what I found:

Then there are a handful of people who have only appeared in one or two shows, most notably Bonnie Gruesen, who played Hermione in the first two Potter musicals, Will Brenner, who debuted in Nerdy Prudes Must Die, and Mariah Rose Faith, Angela Giarratana, Curt Mega, Kim Whalen, Kendall Nicole Yakshe and Bryce Charles, who have all appeared in two or more Hatchetfield projects.

A couple of observations:

Some of the actors listed have also been involved behind the scenes, with Nick Lang writing almost every show with his brother Matt Lang, and Jeff Blim and Clark Baxtresser writing the music for several shows.

I was shocked that Rachael Soglin has only been in three Starkid shows but I guess it goes to show that the size of the role also plays a part in how much of a "Starkid" every actor feels.
