Here is a list of every Buffy character who appears in, or is mentioned by name in, at least one episode of every season.
These are the characters that, you might assume, are the most important over the course of the whole show. The ones that the writers cared about most and refused to stop caring about. The ones that did the most to shape who Buffy Anne Summers herself would become as a person. Put simply: the main characters of the show.
Each of them appears in the first season and also appears (in one case, as a post-death vision) in the last.
Just for fun I've added (in parenthesis) the number of episodes each of them actually appears in. Can you spot the odd one out?
Buffy Summers (144) Willow Rosenberg (144) Xander Harris (143) Rupert Giles (126) Joyce Summers (58) Angel (58) Amy Madison (8)
That's right, Xander Harris is the obvious odd one out.
All the others appeared in an even number of episodes, but -- because he doesn't appear in Season 7's Conversations With Dead People -- Xander only appears in 143 of the show's 144 total episodes. Thus making him, quite literally, the odd ...
... okay, okay, obviously it's Amy.
Amy Madison appears in one -- and only one -- episode of each of Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 and in three episodes of Season 6. She doesn't appear in Season 5 at all but Willow does mention her, by name, in Season 5's Triangle.
Other characters introduced in Season 1 who appear in or are mentioned by name in most of the show's remaining seasons include
Cordelia Chase (who is in 54 episodes over three seasons starting from Welcome to the Hellmouth, plus 88 more in the Angel spin-off; but is not mentioned by name in Season 6 or Season 7 [although there's a brief flashback via archive footage in Season 7's Him that I don't think should count]),
Principal Snyder (18 episodes over just three continuous seasons starting with The Puppet Show (and a posthumous appearance in Season 4's Restless), mentioned by name in every following season except Season 5)
Harmony Kendall (14 episodes over five continuous seasons, starting with Season 1's The Harvest, plus a dream appearance in Restless and 18 more episodes in Angel; mentioned by name in Season 6 of Buffy but not in Season 7 [unless you count that previously mentioned archive footage in Him but I still don't think you should).
Why and how Amy manages to make it on to this list is genuinely something of a mystery to me. The writers very obviously do not care about her as a character at all, they treat her primarily as a joke or a plot device, they never bother to give her anything resembling a coherent arc or show any sign of treating the various traumatic things that happen to her (months with her body magically stolen by her own mother; years living as a rat; retroactively a magical junkie and somehow the only straight witch in Sunnydale) with any sympathy at all.
And yet, by at least one metric [admittedly a pretty silly and arbirtrary metric] ... the most important recurring characters on Buffy -- the only ones to be mentioned in every single season of the show -- are
Buffy herself;
Buffy's best friend, her college roommate, the woman she shares a house with for the last two seasons of the show, her metaphorical spirit, the girl she was prepared to die for in Season 1, the all-powerful witch who brings her magically back to life when she dies in Season 5;
Buffy's other best friend, her metaphorical heart, somebody who isn't afraid to tell her that she's his hero and inspiration in the dark, the ordinary man who she trusts to protect her last living family member in an apocalypse, the boy who brought her (non-magically) back to life when she died in Season 1;
her Watcher, her metaphorical mind, the mentor who instructs her and guides her and lies to her and ultimately abandons her, the closest thing in the whole world she has to a father, somebody who cares about her so much he is convinced she would be better off without him in her life;
her mother, the person who raised her, the parent whose good opinion she's most afraid of losing, the woman who she spends two years hiding her true nature from, somebody who loves her and fights to protect her and -- ultimately -- accepts her, but isn't quite able to ever truly understand her, the mother whose untimely death marks her own transition into adulthood;
the centuries-old vampire with a soul she falls in love with as a teenager, setting in motion a tragic series of events that will culminate in him losing said soul, forcing her to send him to hell and making it hard for her to ever admit her love for anybody else (plus to him getting his own five-season spin-off show);
and ... a girl she meets in sophmore year for cheerleading tryouts, (which they both fail) and who she will have one single direct conversation with again, five years later, a conversation that comprises a total of twelve syllables ("Hi Buffy." "Hi. How've you been?" "Rat. You?" "Dead." "Oh.")
Whenever people talk about Buffy as if it was meticulously crafted and plotted from the beginning; whenever they insist you can't possibly understand a character until you've seen a flashback episode that aired five years after their first appearance, whenever they make reference to the show's Original Plan in a way that implies any deviation from this plan is something remarkable that needs to be explained, I always think about Amy Madison.
What better evidence do you need in favour of the idea that, in fact, the writers were just making it all up as they went, right from the beginning? What Plan did the writers ever have in mind for Amy? How can all of this possibly have been on purpose?

“The spiral in psychology means that when you make a spiral you always come over the same point where you have been before, but never really the same, it is above or below, inside, outside, so it means growth. “ --Dream Analysis, C.G. Jung
Galactic Temple Talon Abraxas
Universe expands/evolves The universe has 12 dimensions but is expanding to 13 and 14 dimensions. The universe is essential a vortex structured on a Fibonnaci spiral such that each dimension has a number of levels of consciousness or awareness given by a Fibonnaci number starting with 1 for the 1st dimension and expanding to 144 at the originating dimension of the Source/Creator. To do this the Fibonnaci spiral must pre-exist to infinity as an archetype. Source is evolving into the 13th dimension and into higher levels of consciousness.
Elohim of the 7th dimension. As a collective, joined with angels and other beings throughout the universe, created this solar system, a new matrix.
3D In ascension one transcends the limitations of the physical body, the cause of death and degradation that is part of the dualistic 3D matrix. This transcendence will be seen as a transference of conscious rather than as a beginning and ending.
From the perspective of the higher dimension we are ascending into the 4th dimension, which is not the astral field, which is not separate from the 3rd dimension. In 3D the body is created from thought form generated in the astral field.
Each dimension has sublevels of awareness based on the Fibonnaci numbers, increasing in number as the dimensions go higher.
Spiral, each square added a dimension, expands levels of consciousness.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. Why is it harder for larger countries to have citizens with a high median level of wealth? What makes it harder for a country with the US population vs, say, Japan? I can imagine obvious challenges, but also reasons why larger countries can make their median citizen wealthier more easily. Economies of scale, more chances for innovation that can later be widely adopted, strong institutions having outsized effects. Can you help me understand the logic more?
It's not a stupid question! It's a common but incredibly counterintuitive thing that comes up in statistical comparisons. The short version is: you get more variance with small samples than with large samples.
To start off, let's point out this isn't just theoretical. According to the IMF, the twelve highest GDPs per capita are in this chart:
Tumblr media
(If you use a different source the numbers change somewhat but not dramatically so.)
If you rank countries by population, those are rank 122, 163, 118, 134, 162.5, 95, 99, 115, 3, 191, 169, and 103.5. The US is in position 3 and the next-highest is at 95 (out of about 200).
Conversely let's look at the ten most populous nations:
Tumblr media
When ranked by GDP per capita, those come out at ranks 73, 127, 8, 98, 138, 144, 87, 128, 56, and 71.
And notice already this looks different: these numbers are mostly in like the middle half, whereas the others were almost all in the bottom half. And that makes sense based on the theoretical argument I'm about to make.
A big country has a lot of people in it. And more than that, it has a lot of places in it. And while those places all have a bunch of stuff in common (like being part of the same country), they also have a bunch of things different from each other. So you can think of the per capita GDP of a big country as, like, averaging together the per capita GPDs of all the regions in it. (And then the per capita GDP of a region is a weighted average of the incomes of all the people in it.)
If you look at a city-state like Singapore or Hong Kong, you're "averaging" together one city. And for a small country like Ireland or Luxembourg, you're averaging one city with a small amount of hinterlands. That means that if that one city is unusually lucky, the whole country is rich.
(And if that one city is unusually unlucky, the whole country is poor. The ten least populated countries on the list that have IMF data have GDP per capita ranks of 146, 119, 95, 9, 152, 60, 106, 16, 134, 52, which are all over the map. None of them are at the very bottom, and I assume that's because cities are richer than non-cities, in general. And also maybe a city-state that's also dirt poor gets swallowed up.)
And if you look at our list of richest countries, you can really see this effect. Ireland is a tax haven for the EU, and traditionally so is San Marino. Singapore is a weirdly-managed outlier city state, as is San Marino (and Hong Kong used to be). Qatar and the UAE are all drafting off of oil revenue, and for that matter so is Norway.
And to drive the point home, let's look at the list of US metro areas by per capita GDP.
Tumblr media
San Jose beats every country in the world hollow. San Francisco is tied with the top entries on the list. And our tenth-richest metro area would place fifth on the list of countries by per capita gdp. (Contrast Paris at €60 and Berlin at like €42k, if my quick googling is right.)
And then to drive the point home, look at the top of the list. The richest metro area in the US isn't San Francisco or New York or Los Angeles (which at 18th and $86k doesn't even show up on that list up there, but would still put it at 8th in the world); the richest metro area in the US is some place called Midland TX. It's a small town that sits in the middle of a giant oil field, and as I understand it it's basically a base camp for all the oil work out there. So it has one thing going on, and that thing is super lucrative, and distributed across relatively few people; so it gets the top spot.
And that's why the richest countries are likely to be small.

AJ’s Analysis- Week Two Preview⚡️: Chargers at Panthers
Disclaimer: I am a Chargers fan so this will obviously be biased BUT I have been a football fan for the last 12 years and absolutely love dissecting the game and making comments so I figured I would give this a try! Please feel free to make comments and let me know your thoughts in my inbox!
Players to watch:
Carolina
#9 Bryce Young QB- Alabama- Year 2
Struggled throughout his rookie year last year after winning the Heisman his sophomore year of college. Finished his college career with 8356 passing yards, 80 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and 7 rushing touchdowns, making him the number one pick in last year’s draft. Threw 13/30 for 161 yards and 2 interceptions last week. Looking for redemption in week 2.
#6 Miles Sanders RB- Penn State- Year 6
In his second season with the Panthers after spending the first four with the Eagles, Sanders is looking for his identity in Carolina. His best season was 2022 with the Eagles where they went to the Super Bowl and he had his first 1000 yard rushing season, rushing for 1,269 yards and 11 TDs. Last season Sanders only had 432 rushing yards and 1 touchdown over 16 games. Maybe this will be his redemption season? Hopefully for him it’ll be better than last week’s performance of 5 carries for 22 yards.
#19 Adam Thielen WR- Minnesota State- Year 11
Also in his second season as a Panther, after nine years with the Vikings. Coming off of his third 1000 yard receiving season and has been selected to two pro bowls. Last week he had four targets, for 49 yards so tomorrow could easily be a big day for him.
#17 Xavier Legette WR- South Carolina- Year 1
He’s viral on Twitter (I’m not calling it X ever in my life) for his country accent but the rookie receiver is extremely talented. In 2023 with South Carolina he had 1,255 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. If he and his qb really start to click he could easily take off. His debut numbers last week, 7 targets for 35 yards.
#54 Shaq Thompson LB- Washington- Year 10
Credited for ten tackles last week and nobody else on defense really seemed to have done much because the Saints scored 47 points.
Los Angeles
#10 Justin Herbert QB- Oregon- Year 5🩵
17/26 for 144 passing yards and 1 TD last week which is great that he didn’t have to carry the team and still get a win. Looking for the passing game to open up a bit, more third down conversions and just better overall communication between him and his receivers.
#11 Cameron Dicker Kicker- Texas- Year 3
Perfect Prince. You guys know.
#76 Joe Alt RT- Notre Dame- Year 1
Monster debut. Proved to the people that he was worth the fifth overall pick. Looking for another great game from the rookie!
#3 Derwin James Jr. S- Florida State- Year 7
This man is very special to me. Didn’t include him in the preview last week because I thought it was getting too long but here it is!! He was the highest paid safety in the league last year and for good reason. 2 time first team all pro, 3 time pro bowler had 125 total tackles last season, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 interception. Like I said, he’s the moment.
#95 Poona Ford DT- Texas- Year 7
Special shoutout to the 5’11, 310 pound defensive tackle that had an interception last week in his Chargers debut. The entire defense was so impressive compared to years past which isn’t saying much because they really couldn’t stop anyone last year especially BUT new year, new defensive coordinator and new attitude.
#27 JK Dobbins RB- Ohio State- Year 5
10 carries for 135 yards and 1 TD last week. The Panthers should be looking to shut him down…Will they?
WR Room
#9 DJ Chark, out. #5 Josh Palmer, hurt. #1 Quentin Johnston, scares me most of the time but last week he didn’t hurt me too badly so I’m gonna be nice. #15 Ladd McCkonkey, sweetie pie with a timely touchdown in his NFL debut. #82 Brenden Rice could very well be making his debut tomorrow with these injuries. Looking for this collective unit to contribute a lot more throughout the season so tomorrow is a big test.
Other notes:
- If the chargers win they’ll be 2-0 for the first time since 2012. Justin was a freshman in high school playing JV then.
- The Carolina Panthers record since 2019 is 24-60, worst in the NFL but they should not be taken lightly. Anyone can lose on any given day.
Happy week 2 and BOLT UP!!!

Hmm… first of all, you can’t prove anything 🤐 Second of all, I would probably contact @thelastsliceofcheese since I actually know her irl and she can help me hide the body and maybe even act as an alibi. And I believe @jennyfair7 once said that she was a lawyer(?) so I will need her help too.
🍬 post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
This is kind of about both Christine and Erik, but I think Christine could have become a great singer even without “the Angel of Music” as her teacher. In the Leroux novel, her voice was said to have sounded like “a rusty hinge” before she started receiving lessons from the mysterious voice. Does this mean Erik has some divine power over her voice and he gave her the talent to sing well, and that if she leaves him then all her musical talent will leave as well??
In my opinion, OF COURSE NOT. At the end of the day, Erik does NOT have superpowers and he’s just a normal guy being a normal music teacher giving her lessons in normal opera technique. The only way Erik improved Christine’s voice beyond a technical level was the *idea* that the Angel of Music was teaching her. Ideas and belief are so powerful: we need to believe we can do something in order to actually do it. Since Christine *believed* that she was being trained by a supernatural force, she made “supernatural” progress. If it is true that Christine was not able to sing as well after she leaves with Raoul in the end (I don’t think we know that for sure), then the only reason for that was because the events she lived through in the story were harrowing and emotionally traumatizing for her (which we DO know for sure). She still has the ability and technique to sing well, but her mental and emotional fortitude has been so damaged that she can no longer sing with the same passion behind it.
🦴 Is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
The fanfic I’m writing now is heavily based on the interpretations of Erik and Christine from the 25th anniversary performance of the ALW musical. Whenever I’m having a hard time writing, I always rewatch it in order to get a refresher on their dynamic. Rereading parts of the original Leroux novel as well as other recordings of the musical help out a lot too!

The Sealed of Israel
1 After (with) these things I saw four angels standing upon the four corners (quarters, angles, latin-angulos-corners root is angle) of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow upon the earth, nor upon the sea, nor upon any tree. 2 And I saw another angel, having ascended away from the rising of the sun (the east), having the seal of the living God; and he cried (latin-clamavit-cried possibly like clamored=shout loudly) with a great voice to the four angels to whom had been given them to harm (this word has to do with committing injustice, latin-nocere-hurt) the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Do not harm the earth, nor the sea, nor the trees, until we shall have sealed the bond-slaves of our God upon their foreheads (latin-frontibus-foreheads, greek-metopon which is meta-ops, ops is eye and meta is with/after thus with or after the eyes). 4 And I heard the number of the ones having been sealed, a hundred forty four thousand (144, 000), having been sealed from out of every tribe (tribe here is feminine) of the sons of Israel;
5 From out of the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand (12, 000) having been sealed; from out of the tribe of Reuben, twelve thousand (12, 000); from out of the tribe of Gad, twelve thousand (12, 000); 6 From out of the tribe of Asher, twelve thousand (12, 000); from out of the tribe of Naphtali, twelve thousand (12, 000); from out of the tribe of Manasseh, twelve thousand (12, 000); 7 From out of the tribe of Simeon, twelve thousand (12, 000); from out of the tribe of Levi, twelve thousand (12, 000); from out of the tribe of Issachar, twelve thousand (12, 000); 8 From out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve thousand (12, 000); from out of the tribe of Joseph, twelve thousand (12, 000); from out of the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand (12, 000) having been sealed.
9 After (with) these things I looked, and behold, a great (much, many) multitude, which no one was able to number it; from out of every ethnicity, and tribes, and peoples, and tongues (glosson), standing in the sight of the throne and in the sight of the Lamb, having been clothed with white robes and palm branches (greek-phoinikes, latin-palmae) in their hands; 10 And crying with a great voice, saying, Salvation to our God sitting upon the throne and to the Lamb! 11 And all the angels stood around the throne, and the elders (latin-seniorum) and the four living creatures, and they fell in the sight of the throne upon their faces and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and value (honor) and power and strength to our God unto the ages of the ages! Amen.
13 And one from out of the elders answered, saying to me, These having been clothed with the white robes, who are they? And from where have they come? 14 And I said to him, my lord, you know. And he said to me, These are those coming from out of the great tribulation and they washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Because of this, they are in the sight of the throne of God and serve Him day and night in His temple; and He sitting upon the throne will tabernacle (encamp, dwell as in a tent) upon them. 16 They will not hunger any more, neither will they thirst anymore, nor shall the sun fall upon them, nor any scorching (burning) heat; 17 Because the Lamb who is in the midst (middle) of the throne will shepherd them, and He will guide them upon living fountains of waters, and God will wipe away every tear from out of their eyes. — Revelation 7 | Literal Emphasis Translation (LET) The Literal Emphasis Bible is in the public domain. 2. Ahoy Librarians! Do yer got fics of Aziraphale 'n' Crowley meeting Michael and David, the actors who potray 'em? - anon
3. Hi! I appreciate this blog so much, I jump when I see a notification! Are there any fics where Crowley possesses Aziraphale, and it's a little like a symbiotic relationship where the angel can feel Crowley's love/wants and vice versa? Sort of like venom vibes, if you will! Thank you! - @genshos
4. Hi 👋 Thank you for your hard work and I appreciate the help of finding fics. I was wondering if there were any fics of when Aziraphale gets discorporated in the bookshop. What I mean is that Crowley walks in through the doors as Aziraphale vanishes in that bright light and Crowley just stares at growing flames of the bookshop. Thanks a bunch and have a jolly day! - @taboobeats
5. Hey I’m looking for any fics where Aziraphale affectionately ribs Crowley about being ‘evil’, joking about how much of a softie he can be  - anon
If you know any of these fics please include the number in your reply! Thank you :)

I have seen a lot of repetitive angel numbers in my life, each appearing in its own time and fulfilling a need for me to understand something: 1111, 111, 222, 333, 444, 4444, 555, 666, 777, 2222, 7777, 177, 117 and 77. However, there is one special and unique repetitive angel number that stands out the most for me and delivers significant and meaningful energy on my journey: the number 144. I feel like the angel number 144 awakens my intuition every time I see it, and it guides me in a way that feels divine. I feel excited every time I learn one of its messages, and each time I feel I am getting closer to its purpose on my journey and path. The messages and/or guidance for me so far associated with the angel number 144 are:
I am a lightworker: I understood this by reading an article about the prophecy of the 144,000 lightworkers. For me, it was a significant confirmation from my Angels that I am a lightworker. I was not sure at the time, I was still questioning myself, but when I started researching the angel number 144 and found the article above, it was a big yes from my Angels and from the Divine that I am a lightworker meant to bring something important through the fulfillment of a specific soul mission of my own.
To receive help from my Angels through someone who is able to communicate with them: During a difficult time, I was guided to get an Angel reading. When I saw that the price of the reading was $144, I felt in my bones that I needed to get this one. I knew it was a sign for me. The reading was helpful, and I was amazed by how the Angels communicated their messages and guidance in a way that made sense only to me. I listened to it last year (4 years after purchasing it) because I felt called to listen to it again, and I was even more in awe of how this reading was meant to be.
A sign from Lady Seraphina that made my connection with the Divine feminine even more dominant: Who is Lady Seraphina? In her book, Claire Stone describes her as 'the mother of all feminine archetypes.' The book mentioned is 'The Female Archangels: Reclaim Your Power with the Lost Teachings of the Divine Feminine.' According to her book, the number 144 is one of her calling cards! This was a message for me that divine feminine energy is highly significant on my path, and that Lady Seraphina is helping me with what I need for the development of divine feminine energy. I believe she's also helping me heal my feminine and masculine energies so I can intuitively understand how these two energies work in union.
An energetic purpose: In the same book, it is said that there are 144 nadis in the human body. Nadis are energetic channels through which energy (life force) flows in the body. What's interesting is that my healing journey started when I felt guided to learn about the chakras, our energy centers in the body. Later, I felt guided to learn and practice emotional freedom technique, an energy healing work for my emotional wounds. I have always felt drawn to learn how energy works. I feel there is something significant about my energy path that I have taken. I don't know yet what it is specifically, but I do feel intuitively that energy is a key component and has a higher purpose in the big picture. Also, seeing that the number 144 is correlated with the energetic system of the body makes me feel that I'm on the right track when it comes to my energy work and learning.
Feeling guided to have an oracle card deck: I have always felt drawn to have an oracle card deck. I felt like it would help me build more connection with my Angels and Spirit team, even though I wasn't sure how to read cards. The deck I felt drawn to pick has an astrological theme, and the accompanying book has 144 pages! It felt like another full yes and sign from my Angels and Guides! Using the deck and the book provided me with the messages I needed at the right time. I also discovered more about myself while trying to interpret the cards and reading the book!
Support, self-discovery and direction about some of my unique talents and gifts that I may posses for fulfilling my life purpose: I recently discover a minor aspect in astrology, the bi-quintile. It's an angle of . . . 144 degrees!! This minor aspect talks about the energy of our unique and special talents, skills, or gifts that we may possess! When I went to do some research on my 144 degrees aspects of my astral chart, I was speechless and felt excited like I have never been with the number 144!! Again, I feel like 144 is really guiding me to discover who I am and giving me huge clues and direction on the path meant to guide me to realize and actualize myself. I feel like 144 is guiding me also to discover my gifts and talents. Actually, my whole healing journey was also about discovering my gifts, talents and purpose! It's about discovering my true self and giving it to the world. 144 is guiding me to find my true self and soul purpose piece by piece. It is all coming together.

No.1 and the black dress itself, look like an elegant queen.. No. 4, YoonA looks like a fairy. (YoonA’s face is pretty in No. 3 but the dress itself is so so) 108. No. 4 looks like a spring fairy 110. No. 4 is definitely the live action of a Disney princess 114. No. 2 is pretty. But they are all pretty 117. I like no. 3 the most. But yellow one is really cute

To be honest, yellow suits you so well, but my favourite is no. 1ㅋㅋㅋ it is so pretty that I held my breath.. 137. Yesterday, yellow dress is the one top. To be honest, YoonA will look very pretty even in rags, but the yellow dress last night was really the best 141. 222, the best harmony 144. It is my first time looking closely at YoonA’s dresses only because I have been looking at YoonA’s face. But the dress itself seems to be 1 or 3. But yellow suits YoonA incredibly well, so 4… 166. No. 4, she is a spring warm tone goddess. There are very few people who looks good in a yellow dress. 212. No. 2... is that an angel 219. No. 4 is the best. It is also interesting to see something as fanciful as no. 3 220. My preference is just Lim YoonA...  ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠShe is really so pretty ㅠㅠㅠㅠYoonA is so great that I wonder what she would have done if she wasn’t a celebrity, and I suspect if celebrity was made just for her ㅠㅠㅠ♡ 233. Everything looks good but the yellow is really popping. It is so bright 245. I scrolled down saying 1...2....3....4. Why are they all so pretty that I can't choose? 258. I forgot to look at the dresses while staring at her face, so I have to scroll up again and restart ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ it’s the Drama Awards dress, but the yellow colour is pretty 260. No. 2, but they are all so pretty. Is there anyone else that looks so good with ribbons? 280. No. 1 is highly beautiful 283. 222, it is so pure ㅠㅜㅠㅠㅜㅜ 298. For me, its no. 2, so pure and elegant. But if I am just looking at the dress, its no. 4. But the hairstyle and makeup is a  bit of a pity. Source: TheQoo Trans: mystarmyangel

Revelation uses the number twelve to refer to the number of angels (Rev. 21:14), number of stars (12:1), twelve angels at twelve gates each of which have the names of the twelve apostles inscribed (Rev. 21:12), the wall itself being 12 x 12 = 144 cubits in length (Rev. 21:17) and is adorned with twelve jewels, and the tree of life has twelve kinds of fruit (Rev. 22:2). The New Jerusalem measures 12,000 stadia on each side (Rev. 21:16), a cube and perfect dwelling place for all of God's people. Twelve is lengthened to 144,000 (12 x 12 x 1,000) in Revelation 7:4; 14:1,3, and indicates the complete number of God's Israel

“The spiral in psychology means that when you make a spiral you always come over the same point where you have been before, but never really the same, it is above or below, inside, outside, so it means growth. “ --Dream Analysis, C.G. Jung Galactic Temple Talon Abraxas Universe expands/evolves The universe has 12 dimensions but is expanding to 13 and 14 dimensions.

DAILY SCRIPTURE READINGS (DSR) 📚 Group, Sat Nov 23rd, 2024 ... Saturday of The Thirty-Third Week in Ordinary Time, Year B
Reading
--------
Rv 11:4-12
I, John, heard a voice from heaven speak to me:
Here are my two witnesses:
These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands
that stand before the Lord of the earth.
If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths
and devours their enemies.
In this way, anyone wanting to harm them is sure to be slain.
They have the power to close up the sky
so that no rain can fall during the time of their prophesying.
They also have power to turn water into blood
and to afflict the earth with any plague as often as they wish.
When they have finished their testimony,
the beast that comes up from the abyss
will wage war against them and conquer them and kill them.
Their corpses will lie in the main street of the great city,
which has the symbolic names “Sodom” and “Egypt,”
where indeed their Lord was crucified.
Those from every people, tribe, tongue, and nation
will gaze on their corpses for three and a half days,
and they will not allow their corpses to be buried.
The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them
and be glad and exchange gifts
because these two prophets tormented the inhabitants of the earth.
But after the three and a half days,
a breath of life from God entered them.
When they stood on their feet, great fear fell on those who saw them.
Then they heard a loud voice from heaven say to them, “Come up here.”
So they went up to heaven in a cloud as their enemies looked on.
Responsorial Psalm

Psalm 144:1, 2, 9-10
R.    (1b) Blessed be the Lord, my Rock!
Blessed be the LORD, my rock,
who trains my hands for battle, my fingers for war.

My mercy and my fortress,
my stronghold, my deliverer,
My shield, in whom I trust,
who subdues my people under me.
R.    Blessed be the Lord, my Rock!
O God, I will sing a new song to you;
with a ten stringed lyre I will chant your praise,
You who give victory to kings,
and deliver David, your servant from the evil sword.
R.    Blessed be the Lord, my Rock!

Alleluia

Gospel

Lk 20:27-40
Some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection,
came forward and put this question to Jesus, saying,
“Teacher, Moses wrote for us,
If someone’s brother dies leaving a wife but no child,
his brother must take the wife
and raise up descendants for his brother.
Now there were seven brothers;
the first married a woman but died childless.
Then the second and the third married her,
and likewise all the seven died childless.
Finally the woman also died.
Now at the resurrection whose wife will that woman be?
For all seven had been married to her.”
Jesus said to them,
“The children of this age marry and remarry;
but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age
and to the resurrection of the dead
neither marry nor are given in marriage.
They can no longer die,
for they are like angels;
and they are the children of God
because they are the ones who will rise.
That the dead will rise
even Moses made known in the passage about the bush,
when he called  ‘Lord’
the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob;
and he is not God of the dead, but of the living,
for to him all are alive.”
Some of the scribes said in reply,
“Teacher, you have answered well.”
And they no longer dared to ask him anything.

FOCUS AND LITURGY OF THE WORD
As we approach the end of the liturgical year, the lectionary is getting darker. This may also fit the mood of our world right now, trapped as we are between a growing environmental crisis, atrocious regional wars, record numbers of displaced migrants and refugees, unprecedented levels of loneliness and depression, and deep political polarization. John’s symbolic “Sodom” and “Egypt” often seem like they are winning, whether in the late first century or the early twenty-first.
Nor do today’s readings offer an easy way out of this cosmic predicament. Whatever their mighty powers, the two martyrs of Revelation 11 are no match for the beast, their bodies left to rot in the open streets. The Sadducees’ testing of Jesus relays a story notable for its callousness toward both infertility and women’s dignity; the wife in this narrative seems like a male pawn in a legalistic game of Pentateuch proof-texting.
The sobering hope of today’s readings is that although death seems to reign supreme in this world, this is not the final chapter in God’s cosmic story of redemption. Resurrection rushes in as God breathes new life into the two prophets of Revelation. Those who attain to the coming age, as Jesus teaches, “can no longer die,” living eternally as children of the God of life. The book of life seems to end in a maelstrom of injustice, violence, and death. But there is a postscript.
Archbishop Christophe Munzihirwa S.J. served as Archbishop of Bukavu in eastern Congo between 1994 and 1996. He urged his people to welcome 650,000 refugees who fled across the border and into his diocese after the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Describing the bishop’s role as that of a “watchman,” he called out government corruption and violence on both the Congolese and Rwandan sides of his volatile border region. And he ultimately paid the highest price for his outspoken witness, assassinated in Bukavu during the early days of a Rwandan-backed invasion in October 1996. Like Revelation’s “two prophets,” his body was left to rot in the streets until friends recovered it the next day.3+6+ Munzihirwa’s story seems to end in defeat and destruction. Yet viewed through a paschal lens, his death is not the final word, nor is the cause he died for cast into oblivion. As he wrote in his own paschal meditation, “Despite the anguish and suffering, the Christian who is persecuted for the cause of justice finds spiritual peace in his profound and total commitment to God, in accord with the vocation which may lead him to death, with the desire and hope that his enemies will one day be converted to the love of all men. He dies therefore desiring and expecting human reconciliation.” Notwithstanding the maelstroms that mark our lives and our world, may we continue to live into such resurrection hope.
Quoted in John Kiess and Christophe Munzihirwa, Our Greatest Weapon is Love (Cascade, 2024), 25.

SAINT OF THE DAY
Blessed Miguel Agustin Pro
(January 13, 1891 – November 23, 1927)
Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro’s Story
“¡Viva Cristo Rey!”—Long live Christ the King!—were the last words Pro uttered before he was executed for being a Catholic priest and serving his flock.
Born into a prosperous, devout family in Guadalupe de Zacatecas, Mexico, Miguel entered the Jesuits in 1911, but three years later fled to Granada, Spain, because of religious persecution in Mexico. He was ordained in Belgium in 1925.
Father Pro immediately returned to Mexico, where he served a Church forced to go “underground.” He celebrated the Eucharist clandestinely and ministered the other sacraments to small groups of Catholics.
He and his brother Roberto were arrested on trumped-up charges of attempting to assassinate Mexico’s president. Roberto was spared, but Miguel was sentenced to face a firing squad on November 23, 1927. His funeral became a public demonstration of faith. Miguel Pro was beatified in 1988.
Reflection
----------
When Fr. Miguel Pro was executed in 1927, no one could have predicted that 52 years later the bishop of Rome would visit Mexico, be welcomed by its president, and celebrate open-air Masses before thousands of people. Pope John Paul II made additional trips to Mexico in 1990, 1993, 1999, and 2002. Those who outlawed the Catholic Church in Mexico did not count on the deeply rooted faith of its people, and the willingness of many of them, like Miguel Pro, to die as martyrs.
