Star Wars Prequel Trilogy gets Graphic Novel Adaptation at Dark Horse

Dark Horse is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace with a graphic novel reimagining of the prequel trilogy. Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy Graphic Novel is written by Alessandro Ferrari and illustrated by Ingo Römling, Matteo Piana, Andrea Parisi, Andrea Greppi, Igor Chimisso, Marco Dominici, Monica Catalano, Davide Turotti, Massimo Rocca, Pierluigi Casolino, Ekaterina Maximenko, and Kawaii Creative Studio.

Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy Graphic Novel tells the stories of The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith in a 208-page graphic novel, available on November 12, 2024.

Free Comic Book Day is rapidly approaching, marking a time of year when comic book fans come out in droves to support their local shops.

There’s been some form of a Free Comic Book Day every year since 2002, with comic shops and comic pros coming together to make it an event that includes signings, contests, and more.

A lot of that success is thanks to the involvement of the publishers, who offer up some of their biggest titles. FCBD is now where the biggest storylines and newest titles are teased first, meaning this is the go-to event if you’re looking forward to 2024’s biggest stories.

What is Free Comic Book Day?

Always held the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day is an annual event where retailers offer up free comics as promotional items. The event tends to be fairly massive, even more so than events like Batman Day.

The first Free Comic Book Day took place in 2002, organized by comic shop owner Joe Field and Image Comics co-founder Jim Valentino. The original event was scheduled to coincide with the release of Spider-Man as a means of capitalizing on the positive interest in comics being generated by a new wave of successful comic book movies, like X-Men and Blade.

Ultimate Spider-Man takes center stage for Marvel’s FCBD 2024 offerings.

The original release date stuck as a tradition, with every FCBD taking place the first Saturday in May (the lone exception being 2004’s event, which was shuffled to July to the release of Spider-Man 2).

The comics themselves are free, but retailers do still pay for them, albeit at a heavily discounted rate, with publishers covering the production cost of the comics. As such, many fans consider it good etiquette to support your local store by buying a few comics while you’re there for the freebies.

I’m fairly sure I’m late, but here’s eight panels from the first story in the new DuckTales comic, and two panels from the second, mostly for LOUIE OH MY GOD.  First story (at least the part included) is dealing with electric sponges in Little Lake; second is getting “hired” to help with a movie flick.

If you’ve got a local comic shop or book dealer, I highly recommend picking up issue 0, and if the main series is anything like this, AUGUST CANNONT COME QUICKLY ENOUGH.

Przerwa w moim blogowaniu nastąpiła akurat w momencie, gdy swoją premierę miał pierwszy odcinek nowych Kaczych Opowieści. Nie będę rozpisywał się na temat samego odcinka, bo już wielu o nim pisało, a ja podzielam wszelki entuzjazm związany z tą produkcją. Zamiast tego chciałbym przyjrzeć się komiksowi, który towarzyszył premierze serialu.

W zerowym numerze "DuckTales" znaleźć można dwie historie w stylu zbliżonym do innych komiksowych przygód Kaczora Donalda i jego siostrzeńców. Jako prequel do wydarzeń z serialu, śledzimy ich przygody jeszcze bez udziału Sknerusa. Donald opiekuje się chłopcami w trakcie podejmowania się różnych prac np. jako kierownik wycieczki. Są to zabawne epizody z życia kaczorów, ale brak niestety tu elementów charakterystycznych dla Kaczych Opowieści.

Nie mogę się więc doczekać, aż tytuł podejmie serialowe wątki i dane nam będzie na jego łamach zobaczyć Sknerusa McKwacza a także matkę siostrzeńców Dellę, która ma pojawić się w historiach dotyczących przeszłości jej i Donalda u boku ich wujka. Zawarte w zerowym numerze historie zapowiadają, że można spodziewać się sporo humoru i oby dalsze przygody kaczek autorstwa Joe Caramagny okazały się równie ciekawe co w serialu.

Również rysunki autorstwa Andrea Greppi i Gianfranco Florio w tym zeszycie nie zawiodły i są bardzo zbliżone do tych serialowych. Kreska ta mi bardzo odpowiada i nie narzekam na zmiany w designie postaci, bo ich charakter wciąż jest w tu obecny.

Zeszyt ten to bardziej ciekawostka, którą warto mieć jako fan "DuckTales", porządnie napisana, ale jeszcze nie na tyle dobra, by polecić ją każdemu. Ciekawi mnie, jak wypadnie właściwa seria i na pewno o tym na blogu coś wspomnę.

Meet Music: tutti i vincitori dei Contest. E un bilancio dell'edizione 2022

Si è conclusa da poche ore l'edizione 2022 di Meet Music, incontro totalmente gratuito tra giovani talenti, artisti e professionisti della musica che prende vita ogni anno al Teatro Fonderia Leopolda di Follonica (GR). 

Il bilancio dell'evento organizzato da Luca Guerrieri, due intensi pomeriggi in teatro e una bella notte di musica allo storico Tartana, è senz'altro positivo. Tra le 15 del 2 luglio e le 20 circa del 3 luglio a Follonica il ritmo della musica è stato decisamente alto.

"Dopo due anni di streaming oline, finalmente, ci siamo potuti guardare negli occhi", Luca Guerrieri, l'organizzatore di Meet Music. "Ho imparato anche quest'anno molto dal Meet Music. Il mio ringraziamento va a tutti coloro che hanno dedicato tempo ed energie ad una manifestazione che è ormai arrivata alla sesta edizione".

Siccome Meet Music nasce soprattutto per dare opportunità concrete a giovani artisti e professionisti, è giusto partire dalla qualità musicale, decisamente alta, di chi ha suonato o cantato al Teatro Fonderia Leopolda.

Gli artisti che sono saliti sul palco per far ascoltare il loro sound nei diversi Contest a pubblico e giuria, hanno infatti proposto performance di ottimo livello, spesso mettendo in difficoltà la giuria. Non sempre è andato tutto liscio, ma come ha più volte detto Mauro Ferrucci, dj e produttore con tanti successi internazionali all'attivo, le incertezze non sono mai un problema. Sul palco e in console, il pubblico sente l'emozione. Non la tecnica.

Venendo ai vincitori dei diversi Contest legati a Meet Music '22, Riccardo Plan e Veive sono i dj chill out selezionati per esibirsi durante lo storico jazz festival toscano Grey Cat. Il pugliese Andrea Fiusco è stato invece selezionato tra i dj dance e si esibirà a Polignano a Mare, durante l'evento Red Bull Cliff Diving. HG Rainbow Contest, in collaborazione con la label Highersound, ha invece premiato tre artisti: Rimpianto, Kroma e Younghito si esibiranno al festival Follsonica, durante le serata a cui parteciperà Highersound. 

Tra gli interventi sul palco di sabato 2 luglio, dopo l'apertura dedicata alla comunicazione e ai falsi miti tra djing e musica dance a cura di Lorenzo Tiezzi e Riccardo Sada, Paolo Franchini e Pierangelo Mauri hanno cercato di raccontare i problemi e le grandi opportunità che offre l'editoria musicale. Tra i tanti, uno spunto interessante da tenere a mente: quando un editore o un manager chiedono soldi ad un artista, è quasi sempre una fregatura. La giornata si è chiusa con l'intervento di Franco Fraccastoro, che ha mostrato le infinite possibilità che offre il software musicale Cubase Pro 12. 

In nottata, spazio prima al live dei Graave e poi al dj set back to back che Mauro Ferrucci e Luca Guerrieri che hanno regalato al pubblico del privé del Tartana. Tra melodie potenti e ritmi a volte ipnotici e a volte solari, in molti si sono ritrovati a muoversi a tempo quasi senza accorgersi, fino alle 4 del mattino. 

Nel pomeriggio di domenica 3 luglio ecco poi agli interventi di due addetti ai lavori che la notte prima erano impegnati a far divertire la gente, ognuno con il suo ruolo. Renato Tanchis (Sony Music) ha raccontato problemi ed opportunità della discografia tra concerti e streaming. Fabrizio Perdomi (FPWS artist hub), che tra gli altri in Italia rappresenta Bob Sinclar, ha invece parlato soprattutto della passione assoluta che è necessaria per vivere di show business. Matteo Fedeli, Direttore della Divisione Musica di SIAE (e da gennaio '23 nuovo direttore generale di questa realtà) è invece partito dalla licenza SIAE per dj.  Il suo intervento ha dato vita ad interessante scambio di opinioni su mash up ed usi innovativi della musica nell'era digitale. 

Meet Music '22 si è chiuso a ritmo di musica live, alla Leopoldina: i Radio Lausberg ed I Matti delle Giuncaie hanno incontrato il pubblico e raccolto fondi  per l'Associazione Tumori Toscana in nome di Enrico Greppi in arte Erriquez, poeta e cantante della Bandabardò scomparso nel 2021.

Meet Music: tutti i vincitori dei Contest. E un bilancio dell'edizione 2022

Si è conclusa da poche ore l'edizione 2022 di Meet Music, incontro totalmente gratuito tra giovani talenti, artisti e professionisti della musica che prende vita ogni anno al Teatro Fonderia Leopolda di Follonica (GR). 

Il bilancio dell'evento organizzato da Luca Guerrieri, due intensi pomeriggi in teatro e una bella notte di musica allo storico Tartana, è senz'altro positivo. Tra le 15 del 2 luglio e le 20 circa del 3 luglio a Follonica il ritmo della musica è stato decisamente alto.

"Dopo due anni di streaming oline, finalmente, ci siamo potuti guardare negli occhi", Luca Guerrieri, l'organizzatore di Meet Music. "Ho imparato anche quest'anno molto dal Meet Music. Il mio ringraziamento va a tutti coloro che hanno dedicato tempo ed energie ad una manifestazione che è ormai arrivata alla sesta edizione".

Siccome Meet Music nasce soprattutto per dare opportunità concrete a giovani artisti e professionisti, è giusto partire dalla qualità musicale, decisamente alta, di chi ha suonato o cantato al Teatro Fonderia Leopolda.

Gli artisti che sono saliti sul palco per far ascoltare il loro sound nei diversi Contest a pubblico e giuria, hanno infatti proposto performance di ottimo livello, spesso mettendo in difficoltà la giuria. Non sempre è andato tutto liscio, ma come ha più volte detto Mauro Ferrucci, dj e produttore con tanti successi internazionali all'attivo, le incertezze non sono mai un problema. Sul palco e in console, il pubblico sente l'emozione. Non la tecnica.

Venendo ai vincitori dei diversi Contest legati a Meet Music '22, Riccardo Plan e Veive sono i dj chill out selezionati per esibirsi durante lo storico jazz festival toscano Grey Cat. Il pugliese Andrea Fiusco è stato invece selezionato tra i dj dance e si esibirà a Polignano a Mare, durante l'evento Red Bull Cliff Diving. HG Rainbow Contest, in collaborazione con la label Highersound, ha invece premiato tre artisti: Rimpianto, Kroma e Younghito si esibiranno al festival Follsonica, durante le serata a cui parteciperà Highersound. 

Tra gli interventi sul palco di sabato 2 luglio, dopo l'apertura dedicata alla comunicazione e ai falsi miti tra djing e musica dance a cura di Lorenzo Tiezzi e Riccardo Sada, Paolo Franchini e Pierangelo Mauri hanno cercato di raccontare i problemi e le grandi opportunità che offre l'editoria musicale. Tra i tanti, uno spunto interessante da tenere a mente: quando un editore o un manager chiedono soldi ad un artista, è quasi sempre una fregatura. La giornata si è chiusa con l'intervento di Franco Fraccastoro, che ha mostrato le infinite possibilità che offre il software musicale Cubase Pro 12. 

In nottata, spazio prima al live dei Graave e poi al dj set back to back che Mauro Ferrucci e Luca Guerrieri che hanno regalato al pubblico del privé del Tartana. Tra melodie potenti e ritmi a volte ipnotici e a volte solari, in molti si sono ritrovati a muoversi a tempo quasi senza accorgersi, fino alle 4 del mattino. 

Nel pomeriggio di domenica 3 luglio ecco poi agli interventi di due addetti ai lavori che la notte prima erano impegnati a far divertire la gente, ognuno con il suo ruolo. Renato Tanchis (Sony Music) ha raccontato problemi ed opportunità della discografia tra concerti e streaming. Fabrizio Perdomi (FPWS artist hub), che tra gli altri in Italia rappresenta Bob Sinclar, ha invece parlato soprattutto della passione assoluta che è necessaria per vivere di show business.
