I have a few thoughts per 1099
1) why specifically make this a complaint about SNW a lot of the shows don't bother doing this.
2) I eat a meal from the 1890s all the time people would totally be eating the same foods 100 - 200 years in the future.
3) Why would ingredients humans have been using for thousands of years suddenly stop being used 200 years from now? Italians have been using tomatoes in their dishes for at least 500 years what's 700 in comparison?
Certainly alien or even fusion dishes might be something people eat on occasion but even with current foods I don't eat wanton nachos on the regular nor would I want to. Our foods that grow on our planet (locally to us) will always be most beneficial to our bodies as those are the foods our bodies are accustomed to and in some instances specifically evolved to handle. Same for other aliens which is why Pike cooks Vulcan foods for the Vulcans.
Also, you do you, but I wouldn't want to eat space ration color cubes when dad's making spaghetti.

Cosmic Oddities - Din/Joel series by fromthewhales (Ao3)
Summary: Turning a clan of two into a clan of four and asking the very important, albeit unhinged question: What if space dad and apocalypse dad were Weird About Each Other? (ed. note: this summary does not do this beautiful fic justice. READ IT). Tags: parental bonding, parallels, angst, everyone has issues, everyone needs a hug, touch starved din djarin, injuries, strangers to ??? to lovers, smashing the space western and the zombie western together like 2 ken dolls, trauma, crack-fic adjacent at times, hurt/comfort, soft not super explicit smut, self harm, found family, din djarin eventually removes the helmet, blindfold, long distance relationship, survivors guilt, angst with a happy ending, non sexual intimacy, it gets worse before it gets better, alcohol mention, game II canon divergent — but boy does it come close, canon typical violence, minor character death, major character injury, bi!joel miller, bi!din djarin
To be explored later - Frankie/Santi one shot by @legendary-pink-dot

Negotiations - Max Phillips one shot by @prolix-yuy

As the apogee solstice looms, I’m... finding myself genuinely really curious about a world state where Bell’s Hells lose.
I’m not saying I’m hoping for that, exactly. Put aside the debate characters have been having about the gods: from an audience perspective, it’s honestly devastating to think about these characters failing after fighting so hard (honestly, poor Orym just wanting to get answers and not being able to stop the people who killed his husband and dad). It’s rough to imagine Fjord, Caduceus and Pike losing the gods that they’ve loved and been loved by for so long. And because there’s no reason to believe Predathos is being honest with Ludinus about ‘I only want to eat the gods, honest! :D’, it means all the characters we love from all three campaigns would probably start dealing with the worst cataclysm Exandria’s faced since the Calamity. And honestly, Vox Machina and the Nein have earned their happy endings.
But, that said - the idea of the rest of the campaign set in a world where Predathos has won? Fascinating. This would be what campaign 2 would have been like if Vecna hadn’t been defeated: our protagonists living in a hellish nightmare orchestrated by a murderous entity. Not post-apocalyptic, but mid-apocalyptic. The whole world crashing and burning and our heroes desperately trying to pour on water. Bell’s Hells having to sneak around cities full of Reilora. Rushing from place to place under constant fear of being hunted down. Retaking Jrusar or Bassuras from an occupying force of Ruby Vanguard. Watching Yios or Ank’harel get razed to the ground with Mass Effect 3 levels of ‘space horrors effortlessly destroy everything mortals have built.
It would be such a massive genre shift. We’ve had something similar before with the Chroma Conclave arc, but not on this kind of scale. The dragons still wanted to live in the world, not burn it down. This kind of plot might well be closer in tone to Calamity than to either of the previous campaigns.
I don’t know if it’s what I want, but I have a feeling it’s something that Matt’s prepared for... and I’d be very interested to see how it plays out.

Kiddo has been collecting vinyl records for a couple of years now. When we realized it wasn't going to be a quick fad we helped them lean into the hobby, upgrading the turntable, making space in their room, encouraging their purchases, etc. For Xmas this year we got them, among other things, a bunch of new records. We also made them this book. The intro page I wrote explains it best. The text is pasted below and the images that follow are its contents.
“Well, when you like something, it's an opinion. But when I like something, it's a manifesto.”  - “Pike St. / Park Slope” by Harvey Danger
It’s never been enough for me to like music. I need to LOVE it. I need to FEEL it. I need to internalize the experience of listening to a song or an album in such a way that it rewires my neurons and rewrites my DNA. I need it to be good enough to change me on a fundamental level. I suppose that’s why I don’t hold too many casual opinions about music. If it’s worth my time, then it’s worth a leather-bound dissertation on what it means to me and why it matters.
One of the things that excited me most about being a parent was getting the opportunity to share music with my child. Not just to teach them about what music I loved, but how and why I loved it. I wanted that child to see the connections I made between experience and lyrics; between emotion and melody and learn how to make those same kinds of connections themself. Seeing the way YOU feel and experience and love music at a cellular level has been, for me, one of the great rewards of parenting. Even if I fail at everything else, I take comfort and pride knowing that I’ve helped teach you to appreciate the profound effect music can have to entertain, to soothe, to comfort, to hurt, to remind, and to transport us through space and time.
"Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time."  - Jean-Michel Basquiat
In this book you’ll find your mother’s and my thoughts on our favorite albums. Not just OUR all-time favorites, but specifically our favorites that are also YOUR favorites. As you add to your collection, we will add to this book. Feel free to add your own, and to write anything you like about the music that you love in the pages in the back. If my voice is the melody that drives us forward, and your mother’s heart is the rhythm that holds us together, then you are the harmony that completes and elevates our song.
I love you, we love you.  - Dad

Still stable!  I think I’ll probably restart it overnight for maintenance so that if I wreck anything too badly, Walter can maybe rescue me on Sunday. >.>  We currently have I think 22 unique users (who aren’t staff or test accounts) and probably around 68 works!  When I shut it down, I’m going to try to address the e-mail and proxy notice issues, and then also see about adding a new dropdown menu to navigation.  Here’s hoping.
If you love Trek -- reading, writing, arting, vidding! -- we’d love to have you!  Just make sure you check our tagging FAQ, since we’re pretty strict about it compared to AO3.

OK OK OK EVERYONE
With 3.5 hours to spare this post has 1015 notes.
Even though @starryeyes2000 has run with the idea I will still contribute at least a small fic to Space Dad Pike Fest.
Below is starryeyes2000’s fic since the link insert won’t work:
TNG always makes a big deal of how Picard isn’t comfortable commanding a ship with children on board. Tell me Pike would not LOVE having kids on his ship.
He would probably roll in there every week like “Hey I’m making chocolate chip pancakes for the kids today” and nobody would be able to stop him.
Remember Picard’s “What the hell?! No children on the bridge!” line? Yeah Pike would tell the kid “Go get all your friends and THEN you can come on the bridge.”
Una finds him walking down the hall with a kid hanging off each leg and arms and another on his back and Pike just smiles and says “Problem, Commander?”
No really. Someone needs to write this if it hasn’t been done already. Even if it has.
Mmmmm now I want chocolate chip pancakes.

Chrono Trigger liveblog part 7 - the final part
Mother Brain: "Hey sexy mama, wanna destroy all humans?"
Also, why is she so mad at humans for destroying the planet when it was that giant evil space monster what did it???
Holy shit she went down easy. Easiest boss fight in the entire game. Only took a single round of combat. Frail old lady robot can't even defeat TWO humans and she wants to erase us all to rule the planet in our absence? Lol. Lmao even.
Pfft, and both the new arms I get for Robo are weaker than the one I got for doing busywork with the reptites. 🙄
I Saved Humanity From The Robot Uprising And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt
Going through the Black Omen. Ayla's Dino Tail Technique is an unstoppable force of nature. 😈
Going up against Queen Zeal with Lucca, Frog, and Ayla.
Plan is to use Frog Flare and Dino Tail right away as soon as she does her first attack. Should drop her before she gets a chance to do anything else...
LMAO, IT WORKED!
wonder if the same trick will work on phase 2... 🤔
IT DID! 😁
Phase 3 begins...
Nice immortality, idiot. Too bad you disintegrated and your floating fortress crashed into the ocean.
Taking on Lavos with Crono, Marle, and Lucca. The Three Amigos ride again! 🤠
In the face of our combined magics, its outer shell is about as tough as a wet paper bag.
Shell: cracked!
Now to climb inside and set off some more magical nukes where it can REALLY feel them! Gunna make this stupid Space Tick wish it had never been born!
Tumblr media
...who's Doan???
"Ours was a short youth."
*cocks her gun*
God I love Lucca so hard. Fuck this girl is amazing.
Oh SICK! Lavos has hand-mouths! I love when humanoid creatures have mouths on the palms of their hands. 10/10 creature design! Symbolism for days!
Well, enough admiring the scenery. Time to vaporise this punk ass bitch of an Evil Space Cicada!
Lavos:
Tumblr media
Lucca, what do you mean that it's been harvesting DNA the entire time??? What are you basing that assertion on??? We keep cracking open exoskeletons to reveal a little guy inside, therefore it's been culturing and harvesting DNA for 65 million years? How on earth does it do that from within the core of the planet (Zeal's brainwashing aside)???
(seriously tho, who's Doan??)
((oh, he's the guy that we gave the seed to in The Future?))
Get vaporised, idiot!
I'm getting executed AGAIN?!
Jesus fuck I thought we had already resolved that bullshit. Your soldier boy should have discovered Marle right next to me in bed for fuck's sake. 🙄
I am going to stab that Chancellor.
Wait, where the fuck did Doan and Guardia21 come from?? And Kino?!
Lucca was going to execute Crono as a prank?!
Can the Chancellor's head on a pike please lead our victory parade?
This victory parade is so frigging cute omg!
That's right, Taban! Crono DID save the whole world and deserves a beer for it!
Official confirmation that Ayla is great in bed. Nice!
So Magus isn't going to undo his Frogification spell? He's just going to leave Glenn like that forever?
Robots cry motor oil? 😂
Whoops, forgot to ever feed my cats so they've run away into the time vortex.
...aaaaand so did my mum. Bye mum!
And Crono fist-pumps to celebrate his mother vanishing from existence. 🤣🤣🤣
Are we getting married on the spot?
Oh, no, it's just the bell. But the bell was already there at the beginning, wasn't it? 🤔
At least we have a time machine. Bye dad!
The End!
Pretty good game! I'm not going to be replaying umpteen times to get all the different endings because I have too many other games to play, but it was pretty darn good all the same!
Smashing soundtrack!
Awww sweet! Post-credits anime epilogue of everybody getting married! 😍
Nice, Frog got de-amphibianised after all.
Lucca and her pet robot adopted a time-travelling abandoned baby? 🤣
And then there's post-credits, post-epilogue, bonus credits? This game just keeps on giving! 😂
My main complaint with the game is that Crono's hair looks stupid. Why is anime hair Like That??
There are multiple new vortexes popping up around the place? And an Ending Counter to keep track of which ones you've reached? Those are nice features.
Okay I'm done for real.

On Dishes, Dadhood, Doctrines and Destiny
Captain Pike vs Captain Sisko
Something that has been tantalizing my brain since Captain Christopher Pike first graced our screens is how similar and yet fundamentally different he is from Benjamin Sisko, the original Captain Dad. If there were ever a pair of Captains I ever wished could somehow meet, somewhere in space and time, it would be these two.
One's principles are born from peace, the other's are born from war. They are both paternal, one in the literal and the other in the symbolic sense. They both love to cook but it manifests in different ways. Both of their character arcs are fundamentally built around questions of fate, and whether or not we can (or should) reject it.
This is a LONG one y'all, more under the cut!
Dishes
The best way to a crew's heart is through their stomachs! One thing both of these Captain's love to do his cook for their families, found and otherwise. Yet there are subtle differences to the motivation and tone of these lovingly crafted meals.
Tumblr media
If there is ANYTHING at all we've learned about Christopher Pike is that he does not know how to separate his work and his life. There is almost nothing this guy does that isn't at least a little bit tied to his Starfleet career, cooking included! One of the ways this shows itself is that, unless it's a hook-up with Batel, every single time he's cooked for everyone it's also been work. Four of those times it was during a meeting: introducing Uhura in Children of The Comet, meeting with the disguised Captain Angel in The Serene Squall, and celebrating the cadets and the priority one briefing in All Those Who Wander. He offered to cook as a diplomatic tactic in Spock Amok, and used his cooking skills as a bargaining chip in The Serene Squall. He uses work as an excuse to cook, he seems to need to cook with a specific goal in mind, not to wind down or just for fun.
Tumblr media
Sisko on the other hand, to my knowledge, has never used his love of cooking as a professional leverage point. Ben uses his ability to cook to bond with his family and with his crew, just like Chris. Unlike Pike though he doesn't have to get work involved, in fact, he probably prefers not to. Sisko separates work and personal life fairly strongly, and his particular messy ragtag crew benefits from that, as do his personal friendships. He has an identity entirely separate from what he does for Starfleet as a matter of necessity, considering the level of diplomatic and military Jenga he's constantly doing. Sisko cooks to relax, it would probably feel almost like a corruption of the hobby to do it for any other reason than artistic expression and bonding with his loved ones.
Ultimately it's a love language for the both of them. It's just one has a decent work/life balance and uses it as something improvised and artistic. While the other has *terrible* work/life balance and seems to HAVE to cook with a goal in mind. Both of which are as endearing as the writers intended that trait to be!
Dadhood
Yes! The Dad Energy! The one thing that makes these guys the top one and two on my sexiest Captains list! The thing is though they manifest it in very different ways despite that being a shared character trait.
Tumblr media
Oh look! Another even more personal and fundamental aspect of who Pike is that he's willing to use for his Starfleet career. It doesn't seem to matter how small or deeply personal it is for him, he is a waste-not-want-not wholesale guy when it comes to his career. This isn't a flaw and it doesn't make him disingenuous in any way, it's just how he does things. Pike's version of being a paternal force is very public and outward and unfettered. He's not the most self-aware guy (in that he's very humble) but he knows how to use how the crew sees him to his advantage. If the crew sees him as a older brother/father/teacher figure he's going to encourage it because it makes his crew a better team. He also cares about every single one of them so it probably gives him a sense of emotional fulfillment too. He does so from a place of genuine compassion for the people in his care, but he does so deliberately and calculatively for Starfleet nonetheless. It honestly makes me wonder how he would react and his style would change if he DID have a kid (which honestly would be AWFUL emotionally if you think about it, considering what happens).
Tumblr media
On the flipside, Sisko's fatherhood is very, very personal to him, both in the fact that it's literal and Jake always comes first. Unlike Chris, Sisko being a profoundly gentle and good father to his son, while not in direct conflict with his Starfleet career, is used to contract his militant Captaining style. For Benjamin Sisko, being a single father to Jake and making sure he is happy and safe has little to do with how he Captains the DS9 crew. When a choice comes down between family and Starfleet, he tends to favor family unless there's no other way. He's not naturally paternal toward people who aren't his kid, he doesn't enjoy pretending to be things he's not (or doesn't think he is), he doesn't get by on his charm, he lets his actions speak for him. Sometimes, those actions do result in a handful of the crew seeing him as a father figure, even if he didn't notice or encourage it until they said so.
They are both absolutely Captain Dads. The difference is where the "Captain" and the "Dad" in the nickname cross pollinate. For Sisko it's two separate words that literally describe him. For Pike it feels more like a compound word, because he feels no distinction between the two.
Doctrines
Fundamentally, these men are both bone-deep Starfleet officers, they believe in the same values. However, they manifest the duality of Starfleet in their actions, and in their cores. In this I DO NOT mean that Pike represents the best of Starfleet and that Sisko represents the worst, or vice versa. I mean that they present the conflicting tones of Starfleet (and Star Trek in general) that tend to divide the Federation and Star Trek fans alike.
Tumblr media
Pike is the poster boy, Enterprise and it's crew are The Ideal, everything Starfleet advertises itself as, the virtues and the flaws that come with it. It's easy for Pike to make the right choices because even when things get murky the right choice is or becomes clear, even if he can't take it. He literally almost caused a dark timeline by being too optimistic, his selflessness being too short sighted. He can stick to his "oath and conscience" because the cost of a better future primarily affects him, not millions or even just thousands of people.
Tumblr media
Sisko on the other hand is the grim reality. Where sometimes nobody's right and you have to pick the least crappy option. Not only that, but that you're going to be wrong at least once on what the least crappy option is. I'm sure there's nothing Ben wouldn't give to have it as easy as Chris does. I truly believe that if they traded shoes, Sisko would do what Pike has to do in a heartbeat, but I'm not sure if Pike would do in the positions Sisko often gets put in. Especially since he doesn't start out disillusioned like Sisko does, like he says "It's easy to be a saint in paradise."
In essence both of these men believe in "service, sacrifice, compassion, and love" it's just Sisko has the more difficult questions that go beyond that beautiful, noble simplicity. They get corroded and patched up and burned and rebuilt until you get choices that lead to things like In The Pale Moonlight, except Sisko doesn't get the benefit of his future self showing him he made the right choice.
Destiny
I think the key trait that binds Strange New Worlds tonally to Deep Space 9 is that the Captain's primary character arc has to do with fate and the ineffable, powerful, fragile nature of the universe.
Tumblr media
Pike's questions of fate have very, very direct consequences to the people he loves most and to the Federation. As we know from the season one finale, the butterfly effect result of him trying to prevent his accident in any way will result in Spock's death. It is not that he is unimportant, but that his actions, his sacrifice, much like a parent's, are crucial to the next iteration of the Enterprise crew becoming who they need to be. He was given a bigger perspective and finds that his life will have value in what he has always done, which is support people, he is the first stone on the base of a mountain. I'm sure a lot of his character arc will be learning to find comfort and value in that. His fate is bent in a way to make a path for others, and without doing so, billions of people will die. His sacrifice is because time is delicate and easily destroyed.
Tumblr media
Sisko's questions are a lot less direct, he practically has to serve as a religious figure as part of his job for Starfleet given the immensely complicated nature of DS9's role to Bajor and it's wormhole. Sisko stumbles into a fate that was so preordained the beings that thrust it upon him ensured that he would not only come to Bajor in it's hour of need, but that he would be born at all! His sacrifice is nebulous and bordering on (from his POV) incidental. When he is given a greater perspective, he's not the base of the mountain, he's at the top looking down. His fate is not one single, deliberate sacrifice, but a series of events that because of who he is as a person, who the Wormhole Aliens in some ways designed him to be, were always supposed to play out a certain way. Sisko would have to have been a different person for things to not happen as they did. Not to save all life in the universe, or even hundreds of worlds, but to save one, very important world.
Both sacrifice themselves for the greater good, but that greater good is very different for each of them, as are the consequences of that sacrifice. Chris trades Spock's life for his voice and his mobility, Ben gives up the chance for a normal life and worldly connections the moment he sets foot on Deep Space 9. One was fully witting when his fate was sealed, the other was not. Pike's sacrifice builds up to a crucial historical event, while Sisko's is the culmination of one.
In conclusion,
I have never wanted two characters to meet more in my entire life as a Trekkie.

Chosen Side
Pairings: John Murphy/reader Bellamy Blake/reader (past relationship)
Warnings: swearing
Chapter: 5.02
“Mom!”
You picked Joaquin up and kissed the top of his head. You thanked Savannah for watching him again, before carrying him towards your room. “What did-”
In the distance, you could hear Clarke asking someone where you’d gone. Shit. You almost ran into your room as footsteps could be heard echoing from the other end of the hallway.
Once inside, you sat Joaquin on the bed, saying, “You know how we only let our friends in here?” He nodded. “Well, the person who’s about to knock on the door isn’t our friend, baby. So when they knock, we need to be real quiet, okay.”
Joaquin shrugged, unfazed, and laid down on the bed while knocking started on the other side of the door. “Y/N, are you in there?”
You both remained completely silent until the knocking stopped and Clarke left. You let out a sigh of relief. Clarke wasn’t stupid and would start asking questions the moment she saw your son.
When Joaquin looked up at you with a bored expression on his face, he said, “When can I go outside?”
“Really soon, I promise.”
“Thanks for meeting me,” you say quietly, before closing the door behind you.
Harper smiles, while Monty looks at you curiously. Despite the war paint and grounder appearance, Harper looked at you the same way she always had, with love.
Love you didn’t deserve.
“Danica? Are you okay?”
It wasn’t until you heard Monty’s question that you realised you were crying. You shook your head. “I missed you guys so much.” You wiped your eyes and sat down in the chair across from them. “I’m sorry for springing this on you. I wish I had another choice, but I don’t.”
Harper reached her hand out and they both stared at you, concerned. “What’s going on? Why did we need to meet in secret?”
“I need to tell you both something…” You took a deep breath. “But when I do, you can’t tell anyone. Not even Bellamy. He’s too close to Octavia to be involved.”
Monty looked apprehensive. “I’m scared of what you're going to tell us.”
You pushed down the lump in your throat. “I have a son.”
Harper let out an excited squeal. “Oh my god, Dan! That’s incredible. What’s his name?”
“Joaquin, he’s the sweetest kid you’ll ever meet.” You sniffed. “He can’t wait to meet his Auntie Harper.”
“He knows who I am?” She asked, smiling.
You nodded, “he knows who everyone is. I’ve told him countless stories of his family who saved the world.” A wave of sadness fell over you. “He knows all about the mountain men, what Pike did to the grounders, and A.L.I.E. I didn’t want to tell him, but stories of how Skaikru brung death from space spread fast.” You rubbed your eyes again. This was going to be harder than you imagined. “Right before we got rescued, Octavia was about to kill me for the crime of treason.”
“What did you do?” Monty asked quietly.
“I tried to be a good mom,” you whispered. You’d thought about telling them the truth, but then you’d need to talk about the dark years. “What I did doesn’t matter anymore. What I’m asking is, if I die, can you keep Joaquin safe until he’s with his dad.”
“His dad is alive and not here?” Harper stared at you, confused. “I’d assumed it was someone in the bunker.”
You shook your head, “no. I was already pregnant when I came into the bunker.”
“I thought you and Bellamy hadn’t... you know, for a while?”
“He’s not Bellamy’s son. He’s Murphys.” silence filled the room. Neither of them knew what to say. “And that’s not even the complicated part.”
“There’s more?” Monty puffed out his cheeks.
“In Becca’s lab, I got injected with a dose of Luna’s blood…”
Harper's eyes widened as she said, “He's a nightblood.”
Monty’s eyes widened, “Does that mean you are?”
“No, I think because I was already pregnant when I was injected, it worked differently. Blodreina will either kill him or use him as a weapon,” your eyes well up at the thought of your son being used as a weapon. “He’s just a kid. Please say you’ll take him to Murphy if I die.”
“Of course,” Monty said, nodding. “Would Octavia really hurt him or kill you?”
You sighed, “she’s already tried to do both of those things. Which is why I’ve hidden who he is from her.”
Harper gripped your hand tighter.
“Thank you both for agreeing. I know I’m asking a lot,” you sniffed. “Do you guys want to meet him?”
You watched from the edge of the bed with a smile as Joaquin practically clung to Harper. She’d smothered him in kisses and hugs from the moment they met.
You turned to Monty and said, “She’s a natural.”
“Who else knows?” He asks quietly. “And how the hell have you managed to hide it?”
“Joaquin doesn’t get out much,” you admitted, ashamed. The older he got, the more afraid you became that he’d hurt himself and someone would see his blood. “Kane, Jackson, and Miller know.”
“How? That’s an odd combination.”
You let out a soft chuckle. “When I found out I was pregnant, I cried to Kane and told him everything. I gave birth in my room with only Jackson and him there. They both agreed to keep quiet, knowing what would happen if it ever got out. The sneaking around and lying took a toll on Jackson, which is how Miller found out.”
He placed his head in his hands. “Murphy was a mess. He spent years in isolation, and a part of that was because he beat himself up for leaving you behind. He never stopped punishing himself for it.”
“He didn’t have a choice. I was hurt and probably wouldn’t have made it.”
“Did Abby never question if he was nightblood?”
“Jackson always covered up for me.” You chewed on your bottom lip. “I’m scared, Monty. The moment we leave this bunker, everything is going to change.”
He patted you back. “I know. God, Danica I can’t believe you have a kid. That’s amazing.”
You chuckled, “It was one hell of a surprise when I got fatter while everyone else got thinner. I can’t wait to hear what life on the ring was like.”
“I can’t wait to hear about your life down here, your makeup is pretty scary,” he laughed.
If only he knew how much darker your stories would be. You wondered if your friends would still accept you if they learned how many people you'd killed and what you'd become to survive.
“I can’t wait for him to smell fresh air for the first time, or see birds flying.” You thought back to the first time you stepped foot on earth. It was a feeling you feared Joaquin would never have.
“Have… you… I don’t want to cross a line here, but have you told Bellamy?"
“I haven’t yet. I was going to before but changed my mind when I saw how badly he wanted his sister to be the same person as before. I want to tell him everything, but I just can’t. Not yet.”
“I understand.” Monty smiled as Harper started to braid your son's floppy hair. “I suppose you don’t need to tell him he’ll know who the dad is straight away.”
“How so?”
“Because your kid is a mini Murphy.”
He wasn’t wrong. Joaquin had inherited Murphy’s features; the only difference was that Joaquin’s skin tone made him look sickly, but you assumed that was because he’d never been in the sun before.
God, Murphy was going to freak out when he found out he had a son.
Harper comes and sits beside you as Joaquin shows Monty his drawings of people fighting in the pits. It’s disturbing that your son grew up around so much violence, but hopefully that will all change soon.
“He’s amazing, Dan,” Harper says as she leans her head against your shoulder. “Whatever happens, we are your family and we’ll protect Joaquin as if he was our own.”
You stared at Bellamy, unsure of what to say. He had to reveal to you that he’d put Octavia in a coma to save everyone in the shallow valley.
You could fully understand him doing it; you just couldn’t believe he actually did it.
“Bell, I have something I need to tell you. I wanted to say it for days, but things have just been so chaotic with the worms and going to war with Diyoza that there’s never been a good time.”
He looked worried. “I’ve wanted to tell you something as well. I’m sorry.”
“What do you have to be sorry for?” You asked, confused.
“Echo. I never told you about her, and for that I’m sorry.”
You did your best not to laugh. Bellamy had always tried to protect your feelings, even when he didn’t need to. “You have nothing to be sorry for. We split up a long time ago.”
He shrugged, “We never actually spoke about it and I wasn’t sure how you’d feel seeing me with someone else.”
You and Bellamy were over the moment he blindly followed Pikes' orders. You had learned to love him as a friend, but nothing more. You’d just assume he felt the same way all those years ago.
“All I want is for you to be happy,” you smiled. “Tell me about Echo?”
“We were both lonely up in the ring and were there for each other, things just developed from then on. Not that it was easy. I still hated her for what she did to Octavia on the cliff. It took me a long time to forgive her.” The smile that spread across his face assured you that he was truly happy with her. When Monty told you that Bellamy was going to leave with Echo when she got banished again, you knew she was special to him. “What was it you wanted to tell me?”
The worries you'd had about telling him the truth seemed to vanish. “I have a son. His name is Joaquin.” Your eyes start burning with tears that you quickly wipe away. “Sorry, I’ve just been unusually emotional the past few days.”
“A son?” Bellamy gripped your hand in his to comfort you as he smiled. “Who’s the lucky man?”
“That’s the thing... he’s John’s.”
“John?” Bellamy’s smile faded when he saw the guilty expression on your face. “You had a baby with John Murphy?”
“Yeah…” You should not have felt guilty, but you did. Even though you were technically single at the time, you still feel as if you betrayed Bellamy. “I’ll understand if you want me to go.”
Bellamy shook his head. “That’s the best thing I’ve heard in a long time, Dan. Since we arrived back on earth, we’ve been at war. A new life is something to celebrate, but I feel I should tell you Murphy was a mess up in space. I don’t know how well he’ll react to this.”
You sat in a comfortable silence, just happy to be in each other’s presence. You could hear multiple kids laughing in the room next door. You grinned, knowing the loudest laugh was your son.
“You really think this plan is going to work? What happens if Octavia wakes up?”
Bellamy’s jaw clenched at the mention of his sister. “There’s been a change of plan. Madi is a nightblood, and Indra thinks it would be best if she became commander.”
You let out a deep sigh. “I hope you know what you are doing, Bell. This could go wrong in so many ways.”
“Do you trust me?”
“Always.”
You lied. After hearing his plans for Madi, there was no way you could tell him your son was a nightblood.
“This is the happiest I’ve ever seen him look,” you state. “He’s so happy to be outside.”
You sat beside Harper on a rock as Monty pointed up at the night sky, telling him about the different stars. You had stayed beside the entrance to the bunker the whole time, but it somehow felt like enough. They had joined you outside to fill you in on everything that was happening with Diyoza and how Echo had gone in with a way to take down the enemy.
It was hard to know your friends were in trouble, but Bellamy had already warned you to not get involved. He didn’t want Joaquin to grow up without a mom. And after realising how much Octavia had changed, he wanted you out of sight.
“Can I ask you something?” Harper asks quietly.
“Anything.”
“What happened between you and Murphy? I thought you hated each other.”
Her question is very hard to answer. You and Murphy had almost killed each other on several occasions, but he’d also saved your ass. “I did hate him until he saved my life in Polis. It started out as a crush, but it evolved into something more.”
You thought back to the first night at Becca’s lab, when you thought the world was ending. You and Murphy had grown close as friends, but he was still a mystery to you. You had casually asked Emori what their relationship was, and when she confirmed it was nothing more than a friendship, you realised that you didn’t have any more excuses to ignore your feelings.
Murphy looked surprised when he opened the bedroom door and saw you standing there. “Hey Dani, what’s up?”
You stepped forward and pressed your lips to his. For a moment, he seemed stunned before he returned the kiss with more intensity.
“How do you feel about him now?”
“I honestly don’t know. It’s been six years, and none of us are the same. Besides, things got a little messy anyway.”
You chuckled slightly at the look Harper gave you, “Don’t stop telling me now.”
“I left that damn island to go support Octavia at the conclave, but Murphy didn’t see it that way.”
“He thought you left him to be with Bellamy?”
You’d told Murphy how you felt the day before, which is why it hurt so much that he didn’t believe you. “Yeah, that’s exactly what he thought. We saw each other briefly in the bunker before he left to rescue Raven, but all he said was ‘I know’ kissed me on the forehead and left.”
“I know?” Harper shook her head, “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
“Your guess is as good as mine,” you say, before standing. “Joaquin, it’s time for bed.”
He pouted at your words, “Can’t we stay up here? Please.”
“Not tonight,” you held your hand out for him to take.
“What if me and Uncle Monty have a sleepover tonight?” Joaquin jumped up and down, excited at the idea. “I can’t wait to tell him all about the ark.”
You jumped at the sound of a gunshot.
Looking around, you couldn’t see anyone. In the corner of your eye, you spotted Joaquin's favourite toy. It was a small blue teddy bear that Octavia had found. Joaquin took it everywhere with him and was distraught when he realised he’d lost it. After searching the bunker, you’d guess he’d left it outside. Luckily, you were right. It was lying among some rumble, so you picked it up and dusted it off.
When you stood back up, you froze at the sound of a guns safety being turned off.
“Turn around.”
“Clarke?” You turned to see her pointing a gun directly at your head. “What the fuck are you doing?”
“Why are you here?”
You held up the toy in your hand and said, “I came looking for this.”
“You’re lying!” She yelled, "Get in the rover.”
You hear the roar of rushing blood in your ears as your brain processes her words. You couldn’t leave. Her hands started to shake, making you nervous. “I can’t leave. I don’t know what’s going on here, but I guess what you're doing for your daughter.”
“I need to keep Madi safe from Octavia!”
Tears threatened to spill from Clarke’s eyes. She was desperate. “Nobody understands that more than me. I have a son. Right now he’s with Harper and Monty, but I need to get back to him.”
Clarke looked over her shoulder at Madi, who was pleading with her to stop. She shook her head, “I’m sorry, Danica, but I can’t let you do that. Now, get in the rover.”
Reluctantly, you walked towards the rover that the young girl was sitting in. You should have listened to Monty and let him come with you. You did have your gun holstered in your belt, but the moment you reached for it, Clarke would pull the trigger on hers without hesitation.
"Where are we going?" You asked through gritted teeth.
Clarke got behind the wheel of the rover, “shallow valley.”
You blinked away tears. It was breaking your heart to know you had no option but to leave with her. As soon as the opportunity presented itself, you would make Clarke pay.

Mutual Profusion of Good Feeling (aka Wherein the Aliens have a Flair for Mood Lighting) by kayliemalinza. This doesn’t really count as Pirk, but it’s not platonic enough for the gen category. Away mission, the premise is ‘aliens made them do it’ but there’s no sex or fade to black. Romantic, I guess? I really don’t know, but the prose is gorgeous. Also a Pike Lives/returns to the Enterprise AU. 5k oneshot, T.

Piler | Chris Pike/Ash Tyler
the chair and the badge by ninjamcgarrett. The boys are soft and in love. Lots of smut, but a fair amount of plot. Their respective traumas are addressed too, so there’s plenty of h/c. Honestly? My favorite from this pairing. Series, 59k in five parts, M-E. Ongoing.
Reality by aishahiwatari. Initially a take on how these two idiots settled their differences, and evolution from there. Part two is post-season two of Disco. Series, 5k in two parts, E. Complete.
survival is insufficient by topaz. Post-Disco; they get together to remember Discovery’s crew, and then they get together. Traumas are addressed. Part two is a sort-of case fic, TW starvation. Series, 33k in two parts, E. WIP.
Feeling Too Deeply by NightOfTheLand. Established Piler, post-Disco season two couch sex. 6k oneshot, E.
dancing to a beat of our own, flying with the speakers blown by wolfhalls. Neither of them want to talk about anything, aka Horrible Coping Mechanisms TM. Bottom Pike, quasi-hurt/comfort. 2.7k oneshot, E.
Christmas in Sickbay by lah_mrh. Chris is accident- and injury-prone and has a new reason to hate spiders. Ash just wants to spend time with his boyfriend. 1k oneshot, G.
The Pillow Will Disappear When I Forget I Put a Pillow There, Worry Not by prototype_malice. Sleepy fluff and cuddles. (they deserve it.) 665 words, oneshot, G.
Chris Pike/Una | Number One
it will take place without witnesses by love_in_the_time_of_kohlinahr. Post Disco, Pike is struggling with the knowledge of his future, so he and Una play chess until stupid o’clock in the morning (as one does), and then he lowkey has a panic attack. Una POV. Also features sleepy sex, but it isn’t plot-important and can be skipped over, if you wish. 2k oneshot, E.
Overtime by Astronoddingoff. Una has Thoughts about Chris working doubles for the better part of a week. Also men get pegged. Definite sub!Chris. 7k oneshot, E.
Terminal Velocity by Astronoddingoff. Una pegs Chris and drags his favorite fantasy out of him. Chris is On Board with all of this. Implied poly!Chris (i.e. Boyce/Pike) and hardcore switch/sub vibes from Chris. 6.8k oneshot, E.
All for One by knightinmourning. D/s universe, where Pike had/has to hide the fact that he’s a sub to make (and stay) captain. Mostly reccing for part two, which has a fair amount of hurt/comfort (and also hints at threatened sexual assault and definite torture; be forewarned). Technically also Chris/Phil and Chris/Spock, but there’s no pairing sex, and part two is entirely Una’s POV. Series, 4.2k in two parts, M-E. Probably incomplete.
A Gentle Touch by jedi_harkness. Chris and Una shower together. Body worship, no sex. So Much Fluff (and also happy tears). It’s super sweet. 1.7k oneshot, T.
Phil Boyce/Chris Pike
Decompression by Astronoddingoff. Chris is elated by a recent treaty success and the time spent dirtside. Phil does his best to make him even happier. Lowkey sub Pike. Implied poly!Chris (i.e. Pike/One). 3.5k oneshot, E.

I know that this has been mentioned in previous posts, but I'm curious if there are any pedro characters who you especially headcanon as bi?? (with the exception of oberyn obviously who is canonically the baddest bicon in westeros)
Yeah so I mentioned before that I do actually HC all his characters as bi but sure, I suppose I can justify a few right now ;-;
Din Djarin — no one in space is heterosexual. periodt. maybe palpatine? FACT IS, grogu has TWO dads now. luke and din. and that’s iconic. a lot of people ship cobb and din, or paz and din, or din and omera, and i like how his character displays enough versatility for all those ships to be plausibile! din is a beefy dilf bisexual and he will do anything to protect the ones he loves.
Maxwell Lord — listen, i know a chaotic bisexual when i see one. this man cannot be stopped. he makes a lot of donations to lgbtq+ charities, holds fundraisers etc. hc’ing our maxie as bi brings me so much comfort.
Ezra Prospect — when it comes to love, or even just... general life, he sees no gender. it’s not important to him. he’s capable of loving anyone no matter who they are, where they come from or what their story is. he has a big heart and although he might struggle to open up, once he does you know you have him for life.
Marcus Pike — he is bi and he wants everyone to know about it. he embraces it, he’s loud and proud. he attends pride festivals every year and every june he bakes cupcakes and decorates them with icing pride flags. and he brings them into work.
Dio — dio is 100% bi. he even has a bi flag hanging over his bedroom door.

Fighting For... Echoes
Tumblr media
Summary: We won. Even though we were alone, with no options, we managed to do the impossible and save everyone from the city of light. But even though we won, we still lost. Those who were in the city lost their memories, only to gain them all back, and now they have to live with the things they’ve done. We thought it was over, that we were done fighting, that we had managed to survive. But Alie left with a warning, and it turns out, we’ll never be done fighting.
Warnings: The 100 Themes so blood and gore I guess
Pairings: Bellamy Blake x Reader, Clarke Griffin x Twin!Fem!Reader
Updates on Monday, Wednesday, Friday!
Please read the AN at the end!

Last Season:
“I, I really need you to wake up. I need you. I-I can’t do this without you, please.”
“I’m sorry. I am so sorry, for everything. And I’d really like to tell you in person, so please, wake up.”
“Thank you. I uh- I don’t think I ever said that. If it wasn’t for you, YN, she probably wouldn’t be here. I, thank you doesn’t really cover it.”
“Everyone was right. I would regret giving YN up. Jake was right.”
“I miss you. I think, I think I miss your eyes the most. It didn’t matter what time of day or night it was, your eyes, they always sparkled. I’d do anything just to see your eyes again.”
“They’re being hunted.” “By who?” “By everyone.”
“Clarke and YN are a symbol. Clarke’s known as Wanheda, the commander of death. YN is known as Wanhei, the queen of hell and death.”
“You left and you didn’t even tell me. I had to find out from Bellamy. You’re mad at Lexa for leaving you at Mount Weather, but it’s the same thing you did not even twelve hours later.”
“You once said that if the choice came down to me or Clarke, you’d pike. Is this you picking? You’re picking her.” “I’m not. I’m not picking.”
“If you do this w-” “What? We’re over? Is that what you were going to say? That if I stay, we’re over? That’s what we’ve come to? After everything? A fucking ultimatum?”
“You were never turned into a natblida. You have always been a natblida.”
“Banto! I thought you were dead.”
“I saw what you did! I saw you! You killed my friends! Yo- you’re a mon-monster. I h-h-hate yo-you.”
“They were my friends, and you killed them.”
“Yo- you left! You left me!” “You left first! You left after you said you wouldn’t! You promised me, made me promise you, always by your side, by my side, and you still left. And now? Now I don’t even recognize you.”
“Whe- where’s YN?” “Sh-she’s dead. Pike shot her.” “No.”
“Just say yes YN. Take the chip, take the chip and all your pain, all your suffering, will be gone.”
“I couldn’t save her just like I couldn’t save Banto. They’re both dead because of me. Raven was right, everything I touch dies.”
“You’re a nightblood.”
“Do you know how many people have died because of me? Finn, Axel, Lynx, Adria, Dax, Banto, Senda, Dad. they’re all dead because of me. If you put that in my head, there’d be a target on all of our heads and I couldn’t risk that! I couldn’t risk anyone dying because of me!”
“By my calculations, in less than six months, ninety six percent of the earth’s surface will be uninhabitable. Even for those born in space.”
“You’re not acting like someone who just saved the world.” “I don’t- because we didn’t. Not yet at least.”
Tumblr media
Now:
Walking out of the tower, my eyes widened as I looked around, Bellamy close behind me as I came to a stop, Clarke stopping beside me. Polis was once a place filled with joy, but now it was filled with despair. Dead bodies littered the ground, crying and screaming filling the area.
“How do we tell these people that the world is ending after everything they’ve been through?”
Bellamy shook his head, looking down at us both.
“We don’t, not until we know Allie was telling the truth.”
I made a face, shaking my head as I looked up at him.
“It was the truth.”
“Still, we keep it to ourselves until we know what we’re dealing with and how to stop it.”
Clarke huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. “You’re afraid of how people will react.”
Bellamy nodded, sighing.
“Yes, besides-”
He grabbed my hand, gently squeezing as he offered me a slight smile.
“I could use a break from keep you alive. You gave them back their pain YN, let’s not add to that by telling them they’re gonna die in six months.”
I squeezed his hand, offering him a small smile.
“Thank you, for keeping me alive.”
Bellamy went to say something when someone screamed, causing Clarke to run past us. I followed after her, hearing Bellamy mutter something as he followed behind us. Clarke was standing next to a woman who was kneeling beside a body when I caught up to her, stopping beside her. Bellamy made a face as he looked down at the grounder, slightly shaking his head.
“He didn’t fall.”
I looked down at the grounder, my eyes widening as I took a step forward, getting a clearer view of his face.
“He- he chased me in the city of light. Lexa, she killed him.”
Clarke looked over at me, her eyes widening as tears formed in her eyes.
“What?”
“Wanhei.”
The woman who was kneeling jumped up, glaring at me as she yelled.
“Yu dula disha.” (you did this)
I looked around as the grounders near us all turned towards us, glaring as they stood up, walking towards us.
“Wanhei! Wanhei!”
Bellamy grabbed my hand, tugging me closer to him as the grounders stepped closer to us. Bellamy looked around, walking forward. I grabbed Clarke’s hand in mine, pulling her behind me as we rushed through the opening of the crowd.
“Wanhei.”
I looked over, seeing a little girl holding something in her arms, her hair matted as she glared at me. I shook my head as I followed Bellamy, everyone spitting out my title as we came into a clearing, Kane and Abby rushing towards us. Clarke walked past me and Bellamy, stopping in front of them both.
“Good, you’re down.”
Bellamy turned me towards him, placing his hand under my chin.
“You’re okay?”
I nodded, offering him a small smile as I placed my hand over his.
“I’m okay.”
“The rover’s in the north woods.”
I turned, seeing Abby shoot Clarke a look, slightly shaking her head.
“What about the wounded?”
Bellamy shook his head, his hand falling to his side, taking my hand in his again.
“The grounders don’t want our help. Our people we treat at Arkadia.”
“Hello? Bellamy please, come in.”
Bellamy made a face as he grabbed the radio from his side, pressing the button.
“Raven, are you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. We’re all in one piece.”
“Good-”
Bellamy cast a look at me and Clarke, sighing.
“There’s something we need you to look into.”
“First, tell me how my friends are. Did everyone make it? YN?”
I smiled, taking the radio from Bellamy.
“I’m here, thanks to you.”
I took a deep breath, pressing the radio button.
“Raven, did Alie ever tell you why she created the city of light?”
“No, why?”
“Haihefa, en’s kiken! Osir gaf fisa in!”
My eyes widened as I looked over at Abby, translating.
“They need a doctor.”
Abby nodded, rushing past us before I turned, pulling my hand from Bellamy’s, following after her. I knelt down beside Abby, helping her roll him over, making a face.
“Roan?”
I looked over Abby, slightly shaking my head.
“He got shot helping Clarke.”
I watched as Abby checked his pulse, looking over at me.
“He’s not dead yet, but he’s close.”
She moved him slightly, shaking her head when she checked his back.
“No exit wound. We need to get the bullet out quickly.”
I nodded, looking over at Abby.
“I can help un-”
I froze when I felt pressure at my neck, glancing down and seeing a sword against my neck.
“Get away from our king.”
I lifted my hands up as Abby’s eyes widened, shaking her head.
“Wait, no please.”
The person behind me grabbed my arm, forcing me to stand. I slightly turned my head, seeing the grounder glaring at me as she pressed the sword into my neck as the guards from Arkadia rushed forward, aiming their guns. Kane grabbed Abby, moving her behind him as he looked at the grounder.
“You’re making a mistake, we’re part of the coalition.”
Abby moved beside Kane, her voice pleading.
“I can save him, but you have to let me.”
“We have our own healer.”
She turned, growling at the grounders near us.
“Lid haihefa-de gon bangeda seintaim kom ostof kom oso stedaun. Dula’m op nau!” (take the king to the embassy with the rest of our dead. Do it now!)
“Echo!”
I looked up when I saw the guards moving to the side, watching as Bellamy pushed his way through, Clarke rushing behind him. The grounder, Echo, stepped closer to me, the sword digging into my neck more, causing me to wince. Bellamy met my eyes, causing me to slightly shake my head as his glare hardened.
“Bell, don’t.”
I watched as Kane grabbed Bellamy’s arm, trying to pull him back as he yelled at Echo.
“Let her go, Echo! Let her go!”
Echo’s head moved over my shoulder, her head pressing into mine as she pulled me closer to her.
“Back off Bellamy.”
Clarke shook her head, stepping forward as she looked over at Echo.
“Your king is my friend. Let us help him.”
Echo looked her over before she looked down at me, making a face as she leaned closer to me.
“I saw you in the city of light. I know you destroyed it. Thank you for that.”
Her sword dropped to her side as she pushed me forward, Bellamy catching me as I stumbled, holding me to him as he glared at Echo. Echo shot him a look as she turned, yelling.
“Look around you! Skaikru did this to us. Because of them, Ontari, your rightful commander is dead!”
Echo turned, pointing her sword in my direction, Bellamy pulling me closer to him as he moved so he was standing in front of me.
“This imposter stole her flame!”
Kane shook his head, stepping forward.
“No! Wanhei saved us, all of us! Grounder and Skaikru!”
“There would’ve been nothing to save us from if not for you.”
Kane shook his head, glaring at Echo.
“Azgeda has no authority here.”
“We do now.”
Echo turned, yelling once more.
“In the name of King Roan, as rightful caretakers of the throne of the commanders, Polis is now under Azgeda rule!”
“Like hell it is!”
An ambassador stepped forward, glaring at Echo.
“Where’s your war chief, girl?”
“Our war chief is dead, ambassador. As a member of the Queen’s guard, command of the army has fallen to me, until the king awakens.”
“If he awakens.”
The ambassador turned, yelling.
“Until a new Commander can ascend, Polis is to be ruled by ambassadors of the Coalition.”
The ambassador turned, glaring at Echo.
“If Azgeda wants it, they must take it by force.”
Echo stepped forward, singing her sword out. My eyes widened as she cut the ambassador’s neck, blood pouring from the cut as the ambassador fell to the ground.
“Consider it taken. No Skaikru leaves this city.”
She lifted her sword, yelling.
“Gon Azgeda!” (for Azgeda!)
Echo glared at us before she turned, walking away. Bellamy squeezed my side, causing me to glance up at him.
“Looks like saving the world will have to wait.”
Tumblr media
Clarke was standing in front of me, slightly glaring as she crossed her arms over her chest.
“YN, let me at least make sure you're not injured.”
I huffed, shooting her a look.
“Say’s the one who’s bleeding.”
“And you’re bleeding too.”
I made a face, my arms dropping to my sides, Clarke grinning slightly as she rushed forward, tilting my head up, gently pressing her fingers to my neck. I bit back a wince, shooting her a look when she stepped back. She turned, grabbing something before she turned back towards me. I looked down at her, seeing a small wrap in her hand. I shook my head, jumping up.
“No, no way. You need to use that on literally anyone else, I’m fine.”
“You’re bleeding and your neck is bruised! This is all I have to stop the bleeding, so sit your butt back down and let me clean your cuts and wrap them.”
I glared at her, shaking my head.
“No.”
“Sit down.”
I jumped, turning around. Bellamy was standing behind me, his arms crossed over his chest.
“Bellamy, I’m fine.”
He shot me a look, stepping closer to me.
“Sit down, or I’ll sit you down myself.”
I huffed, tilting my head to the side.
“No you won’t.”
Bellamy closed the distance between us, leaning down and kissing me. I sighed, my eyes closing before I gasped.
“Bellamy!”
Bellamy shot me a grin as he stepped back, moving to stand beside me, nodding at Clarke. Clarke was trying to hide her smile as she knelt in front of me, lifting my head.
“I hate you both.”
Bellamy snorted, shaking his head as he squeezed my shoulder.
“No you don’t.”
“Wanhei-”
I turned my head to the side, seeing Indra standing a ways from us, Octavia behind her.
“Thank you.”
I nodded, seeing Kane walking towards Indra before Clarke forced my head back.
“Stay still.”
I huffed, letting Clarke finish cleaning my cuts and wrapping them before I stood up, shooting both her and Bellamy a look. Bellamy grinned slightly, grabbing my hand and pulling me to him.
“You’re okay?”
I nodded, looking up at him, crossing my arms over my chest.
“Yeah, and I’d still be okay without all this.”
I waved my hand in front of my neck, causing Bellamy to shake his head.
“No, because then you would’ve had to deal with me hovering because you’re injured.”
I scoffed, shaking my head as I rolled my eyes.
“Right, like you’re not going to hover anyway.”
“Guys.”
I turned, looking over at Clarke. Clarke nodded towards the others, causing me to grin slightly as we walked towards them.
“Well?”
Indra looked over at me, nodding slightly.
“When you destroyed the city of light, there were a thousand Azgeda warriors inside the city of Polis.”
Octavia huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Good timing.”
“The only way to remove them is by force.”
“Then let’s remove them.”
Abby shook her head, looking over at Octavia.
“Slow down. You’re talking about a war.”
“Yes, Rockline, Flokru and Broadleaf will join Triku without question. We’ll still be short.’
“This is madness. We should be leaving with the others, while we still have time.”
Kane shook his head, sighing as he looked at Abby.
“They know where we live. If we run, they’ll follow.”
Kane turned towards Indra, looking down at her.
“There are eight other clans, how do we get them to join us?”
“I can do it, but I’ll need the flame.”
Clarke shook her head, clenching her jaw.
“No.”
Bellamy sighed, looking over at Clarke.
“Clarke, the clans will follow whoever has the flame.”
Clarke balled her hands, causing me to shake my head as I sighed.
“But Azgeda won’t.”
“Then we fight. That’s the point.”
I shook my head, sighing.
“No, it’s not. The point is, there’s no time for a fight. We have save Roan.”
Octavia made a face, tilting her head to the side.
“Save him? They won’t let us near him.”
Abby shook her head, looking over at me.
“Wait a second. What don’t we know?”
I sighed, Bellamy squeezing my hand.
“The reason Alie created the city of light.”
“Why?”
“Nuclear reactors inside power plants that survived the bombs are melting down. Radiation levels are already rising. If we can’t figure out a way to fix it, all of us will be dead in six months.”
“Alie told you this?”
I nodded, sighing.
“Yes.”
“And you believe her?”
“Ravens looking into it.”
I looked over at Kane, nodding slightly.
“I believe her.”
“Even if it’s true, that’s six months away. There are thousand ice nation warriors on the street who want to kill us today.”
“They won’t kill us.”
Octavia made a face as I looked over at Clarke, tilting my head to the side.
“How could you possibly know that?”
Clarke looked over at me, nodding.
“Because we’re gonna surrender.”
Tumblr media
I shook my head, crossing my arms over my chest.
“This is wrong.”
Bellamy sighed, looking over at me.
“I’ll be okay.”
I sighed, shaking my head as I looked over at Bellamy.
“You can’t say that. She’s the enemy Bell, her word means nothing, she can’t be trusted.”
“YN is right.”
We both turned, looking over at Indra.
“She’s part of the royal guard, spies. That’s why she’s not marked. Very dangerous, very loyal.”
Bellamy scoffed, shaking his head as he glanced down at my neck.
“Not to the people who saved her life.”
Kane sighed, stepping forward.
“Bellamy, I know how you feel about her but you can’t lose control. You offer them technology, guns, whatever it takes to keep her talking is that clear?”
Indra shook her head, looking over at Kane.
“I didn’t agree to give them guns.”
“Well, that’s probably because you’re not an idiot.”
I turned towards Murphy, shooting him a look.
“Shut up.”
Kane shook his head, turning towards Indra.
“It won’t get that far. Our objective is to buy time for Abby to save the king.”
Kane turned towards Murphy, looking over at him.
“And if you wanna help, grab a weapon, stand a post.”
Bellamy held his gun out towards Murphy, nodding slightly.
“Take mine.”
Murphy nodded, taking the gun from Bellamy. Bellamy turned towards me, stepping closer to me.
“I’ll be okay.”
I huffed, slightly shaking my head as I looked up at him.
“You better be. Because if anything happens to you, just remember who you’re dating.”
Bellamy grinned, nodding as he pressed a quick kiss to my lips before he walked past me. I turned back towards Kane, tilting my head to the side.
“Well, are you coming or not?”
Tumblr media
Bellamy stopped in front of Echo, as we all stopped a ways behind him.
“Before you say anything, remember, I saved your life by taking you out of Mount Weather. I was following orders, Bellamy.”
“I wish it was that easy.”
“We do what we do for our people. You slaughter us, we slaughter you. That all went away in the city of light, but it’s back now, so here we are.”
Echo looked past Bellamy, meeting my glare before she looked back at Bellamy.
“What are the terms of your surrender?”
Bellamy clenched his jaw, glaring at Echo.
“We recognize ice nation rule, and you honor Lexa’s coalition, including the 13th clan.”
“No.”
“We’ll give you guns and show you how to use them.”
Echo glanced back at us, nodding slightly.
“Triku accepts this?”
“They’re not happy about it.”
“Not much they can do now, though, is there, without an army.”
I clenched my jaw, looking down at the ground, flashes of that night passing by.
“You were there.”
I shook my head, looking back at Echo and Bellamy.
“Then you know why everyone hates Skaikru and why we can never accept your terms.”
“The alternative is war. Is that what you want?”
“No one wants war. Lay down your guns, and we’ll let your children live. I’ll give you time to decide.”
Echo turned, Bellamy shaking his head as he stepped forward, grabbing her arm.
“I wasn’t done talking.”
Echo turned, grabbing Bellamy and forcing him to the ground, scoffing.
“You are now.”
My eyes widened as she held her sword to his neck, shaking my head as I stepped forward, glaring at Echo.
“If you kill him, you won’t have to worry about Skaikru coming after you Echo-”
Echo clenched her jaw, glaring as she cut me off.
“Guns on the ground, or he dies.”
“We disarm, we’re done.”
“You’ll have to worry about me.”
“Abby will come through. Do what she says.”
Kane grabbed my arm, pulling me back.
“Guns on the ground, now.”
As soon as everyone lowered their weapons, we were restrained. Echo walked towards me, grinning down at me.
“So much for the powerful Wanhei.”
I huffed, leaning back, slamming my head into Echo’s face. She groaned, stepping back, her hand flying up to her nose, blood dripping between her fingers as she stared at me. I grinned, tilting my head to the side.
“So much for the spy.”
She huffed, slamming her head into mine. I groaned, pain shooting through my face, as I lightly shook my head, feeling the blood pouring from my nose. Echo’s eyes widened slightly, murmuring to herself before she grabbed my arm from the grounder behind me, pushing me forward. Rounding the corner, my eyes widened when I saw Clarke and Octavia being forced to their knees, Abby already kneeling as Echo yelled, throwing me to a grounder who grabbed my arms.
“Emo don’s trana slip haihefa daun! Chek em au!” (they were trying to kill the king! Check him)
Clarke shook her head, looking over at Echo as she stalked towards her.
“No, we were trying to save him!”
I shook my head, yelling.
“Don’t touch her Echo!”
Echo unsheathed her sword, glaring at Clarke as I started to thrash around in the grounders arms.
“If you touch her I’ll kill you! You hear me Echo? I’ll kill you!”
The grounder hit me in the back of the head, causing me to fall forward. I groaned, trying to push myself up when the grounder placed their knee on my back, holding my head down.
“Shof op!” (quiet)
I tried to push the grounder off me, watching as Echo lifted her sword, bringing it down. I trashed harder, tears welling in my eyes.
“I’ll kill you Echo!”
“Wait.”
Everything seemed to stop as Roan coughed, sitting up from the bed. He glanced around the room, Clarke looking over at him.
“Roan, help us. Tell them we’re friends.”
Roan stood up, coughing as he looked up.
“Where is Ontari?”
“Dead, sire. Killed by them.”
Clarke shook her head, watching Roan.
“We couldn’t save her, but we did what we came here to do. Now I need you to honor your promise to protect my people.”
“That was before your people shot me and killed my commander.”
Octavia scoffed, glaring at Roan.
“We just saved your dam life.”
Echo walked towards Roan, stopping beside him, speaking too low for me to catch before Roan yelled.
“Teik emo we!” (take them away)
The grounders were quick to follow, grabbing the others and pulling them out of the room. The grounder who was on top of me got off when they pulled Abby out of the room, dragging me up. Echo walked towards me, stopping in front of me, slightly leaning down.
“I know what you are, demon.”
I scoffed, glaring up at her.
“It’s Wanhei to you.”
Echo glared at me, and in a quick movement she slammed the hilt of her dagger into my face, knocking me out.
Tumblr media
“YN, come on, hey, wake up. YN!” I groaned, blinking too.
“YN?”
I huffed, nodding slightly.
“Yeah?”
“Are you okay?”
I looked around, slightly making a face. Clarke and Abby were chained to the floor, Bellamy and Kane chained to the wall not far from them. I was chained to a wall by myself, further away from them.
“My head hurts.”
Abby looked over at Clarke, slightly shaking her head.
“She could have a concussion.”
“Considering everything that she’s been through today, that’s probably the least of it.”
I groaned, my head rolling to the side.
“Hey, hey, no YN come on, you need to stay awake.”
“M’not asleep.”
Bellamy huffed, shaking his head.
“Not yet your not. Let’s just keep it that way, yeah?”
“M’kay.”
I looked up when the cell door was opened, a group of grounders walking in.
“Wanheda, on your feet!”
Clarke looked up at the grounders who walked towards her, shaking her head.
“Where’s the king? Hey, I need to see Roan.”
Echo stepped forward, glancing around the room.
“Nou em. Wanhei.” (not her)
The grounders nodded, dropping Clarke’s chains. They walked towards me, glaring as they lifted a bag, placing it over my head.
“Hey!”
The chains holding my arms up were released, causing my arms to drop to my sides before they pulled behind my back.
“No!”
“Echo! Echo, listen to me!”
I was dragged out of the cell, hearing the door slam shut.
“Echo!”
Tumblr media
“Wanhei, sire.”
The bag was pulled off my head, causing me huff as I looked around meeting Roan’s gaze.
“Get out.”
Echo looked like she wanted to say something before she turned, walking out of the room. Roan looked me over, studying me as he walked towards me.
“Echo told me something about you.”
I scoffed, tilting my head to the side.
“Glad to know someone’s been thinking about me.”
Roan grinned, stopping in front of me.
“I wonder-”
He moved his hand, the glint from the dagger catching my eye as he lifted it.
“If what she told me is true.”
I made a face, trying to move away when he grabbed my face, pressing the dagger to my cheek. I winced, Roan’s eyes widening as blood dripped down from the cut.
“Natblida.”
Tumblr media
I was led back down to the cells, a set of keys in my hands.
“YN?”
The grounder who led me to the cells opened the door, letting me walk past them.
“What happened?”
I knelt in front of Clarke, unlocking her chains.
“YN?”
I sighed, looking up at her.
“Roan knows about Praimfaya. I promised him I’d find a plan to save all of our people.”
I turned towards Abby, undoing her chains, handing her the keys as I helped Clarke stand.
“That’s not all, is it?”
I sighed, shaking my head.
“I promised him I’d give him the flame.”
Clarke stepped back, shaking her head, her eyes wide.
“What? How could you?! It wasn’t yours to give!”
I huffed, looking up at her.
“Maybe not, but it’s the reason we’re all still alive. I’m sorry Clarke, but it was the only way.”
When Bellamy was free he rushed to me, turning me towards him, looking me over.
“Are you okay?”
He made a face when he saw the cut on my face, reaching up, his fingers just grazing the cut.
“What happened?”
“Roan knows I’m a natblida.”
Tumblr media
Roan stood on the stage in the center of Polis, Echo standing not far behind him. He wore a crown made of bones, gripping the hilt of his sword.
“I know you’ve all come here for an execution, but no one else will die here today. The city of light has fallen, and there is no commander left to rule us. Until another nightblood ascends, I- King Roan of Azgeda, eldest son of Nia, grandson of Theo, am caretaker of the throne and keeper of the flame.”
Roan held the flame up, murmurs erupting.
“Kaina bandragen dison bilaik?” (your a king, not a priest! This is blasphemy!)
“Nou bandgragen! Reinseden!”(not blasphemy. order!)
Roan glared at the crowd, standing taller.
“Until another ascends, Azgeda honors and will defend the coalition of the last true Commander, Lexa Kom Trikru, including the 13th clan. Let it be known that an attack against Skaikru is an attack against us all.”
The people started to murmur again as Roan turned, walking off the stage. We were led to the gates, our weapons returned to us when I saw Echo walking towards us. Bellamy glared as he walked towards her, crossing his arms over his chest as she stopped in front of him. She held out a parcel, nodding.
“From your king.”
She flipped it open, revealing an amulet.
“With this, you’ll be safe in any of our lands.”
She folded the parcel back, handing it to Bellamy. She looked up at him, sighing slightly.
“You think we’ll ever be able to trust each other again?”
Bellamy scoffed, shaking his head.
“Doubt it.”
“Welcome back to the coalition.”
Bellamy turned, walking back towards us.
“Time to go.”
Kane looked between us, nodding.
“We’ll do our best to keep the king on his throne.”
“We’ll find a way to beat the radiation.”
Octavia huffed, tilting her head to the side.
“If either of you screw this up, we die. No pressure.”
I looked up, shaking my head.
“It’s getting dark. Let’s do this.”
Abby hugged Clarke, both of them murmuring to each other. I looked over at Octavia, stepping towards her and hugging her.
“You did what you had to do. Pike got what he deserved.”
Octavia nodded, offering me a tight smile as I stepped back. I looked up when I saw movement from my side, seeing Abby hovering. She looked like she wanted to say something, and I tried to say something instead, but all I got was flashes of her placing the rope over my neck. I lightly shook my head, looking over at Kane, seeing him stepping back from Bellamy, missing Abby’s crestfallen look. I gave Kane a quick hug, offering him a small smile as he stepped back. Bellamy grabbed my hand, gently squeezing as we followed the guards out of Polis. Bellamy looked down at me, glancing over at Clarke.
“Okay princesses, what now.”
I snorted, intertwining our fingers, shaking my head.
“That’s not my name.”
Clarke grinned, shaking her head as she met my gaze.
“Now we survive.”

“Jett Reno, engineering.” Engineering, how was it I always wound up rooming with someone from engineering?
--
The problem was, with my separation from the Enterprise and the wounds of Somonia still fresh, I found myself desperate for connection where my life had been voided of it.
Jett, Tilly-- I took the hands that were offered to me in introduction and did my damnedest to keep contact.
-- “What brought you to Starfleet?” I could tell by the strained way Jett was asking that she didn’t do small talk for fun the way Tilly did. I’d been on the Hiawatha for a couple of days and we’d hardly talked when we’d been in our quarters together. Neither of us had pushed to fill the silence. But now, Jett was making the effort to… Chat. Maybe it was an attempt to stop my harried pacing in the cramped craft, but I could hardly keep still. My first official mission was set to begin in just a few minutes-- I was piloting a new federation attack fighter with an experimental cloaking device into Klingon airspace for the purposes of picking up subspace chatter. The Hiawatha would be in range as it ferried the first few war-wounded to Starbase 515. As soon as I collected what transmissions I could, I was to return to the ship, and then we’d jump to maximum warp -- barring any complications. “... My dad was an attaché to the Federation when I was growing up. I was brought to a lot of planets when he had custody. And when I was home there were a lot of different languages around me. I was just... curious.” Jett grunted. “What about you?” I asked. “I was always taking shit apart when I was a kid,” Jett leaned away from the control panel, “I had a teacher at school that steered me to circuit analysis. Kicked off from there.” She pulled off her gloves, turning back to me. “Good thing she jumped in when she did, I was electrocuting myself like, once a week. My mom was a doctor, said electrocuting yourself is frowned upon.” I smiled a little bit, “You know, I’ve heard that.” “Apparently everyone but me had.” “When you joined Starfleet...You ever think you’d be doing something like this?” “Helping a language nerd fly into enemy space? Can’t say it was in my top five. Did you think you’d be a pilot?” I shook my head, shoving my hands into my pockets, “No. I always liked flight sims, but steering was the furthest thing from my mind. I had this...Grand idea of going to new planets, building bridges between cultures… Not getting my ass bounced from ship to ship to ship and keeping my head down in the hopes I don’t wind up on Admiral Cornwell’s bad side…” I sighed, shrugging, “But we put our dreams away.” Jett’s brows were furrowed, and I could see the question she wanted to ask, but instead asked: “You got a plan after this?” “After the mission?” “After the war.” I was quiet for a moment, turning to survey the control panel. “... I think I’d rather focus on what I’m gonna do after the mission, not get too far ahead of myself.” Jett pursed her lips, nodding a little bit, looking around. “You oughta get off of this vessel if you don’t wanna join me for its maiden voyage,” I warned. Jett grunted, picking up her toolkit and heading for the ramp. “Try not to get blown up out there,” She said over her shoulder, “I did good work on this ship.” “I’ll do my damnedest,” I called back.
--
It became routine for Jett and I to chat before missions - occasionally making plans for what we would do once I got back. My missions tended to vacillate between two types: either a transmission intercept, or a mission type that protocol labeled a 22-9-14. 22-9-14 operations consisted of approaching a Klingon craft, deploying a tracking and transmission device, and piloting the hell out of there before any Warbirds could catch wise. It didn’t always work of course --  which was why Eli and I started calling 22-9-14s ‘Tag and Runs’. Lieutenant Commander Eli Durling was a security officer stationed on the Hiawatha for the purpose of handling Communications-based missions. I’d known of him while I was at the Academy. He had been a couple of years ahead of me, and we had a few mutual friends, but as we'd been focused in different course tracks, I'd never had occasion to really interact with him until now. He’d graduated top of his class, and had been stationed on a ship in the Mempa sector until the war had broken out.
Durling reminded me of Pike, a little. When he wasn’t focused on the mission at hand, he was fairly easygoing, lighthearted, and made it a point to follow orders - when those orders were the right course of action in a given situation. Eli wasn’t above changing course mid-mission when something took a bad turn, and he wasn’t afraid to go to bat for me with command for doing the same, either. He covered my back, and I covered his.
--
“You should see the job Durling did to his phaser canons,” Jett half-yelled, half-grumbled from under the control panel. I eyed where her legs were in view, just beside my pilot’s seat. “Something tells me the job was done by a Klingon Warbird and not by Eli himself.” “Well if he hadn’t gotten spotted by a Warbird, they wouldn’t have chased him, fired at him, and fucked up his phaser canons.” “...You might have a point there.” “I’m wounded, lieutenant,” I heard from just behind me, and I turned to see Eli ducking his head to step onto the craft. “I really hope you mean emotionally," I teased. Eli’s lips twitched into a smile, and I returned it. It was moments like this that his attractiveness was...Really not lost on me. He was handsome, with golden, copper brown skin and gentle blue eyes. His smile, which was turned at me now, was typically kind -- a kind smile that could turn flirtatious or teasing at the drop of a hat. “I’m broken up inside,” Eli reassured me. “Mm, mhm,” I nodded, “What’s going on?” “I’ve got some news.” “Is it that you learned how to fix your phaser canons yourself?” Jett asked, sitting up from under the console. “Sadly, no.” “Sadly? That’s not sadly no, that’s morbidly depressingly no,” Jett grumbled as she took my hand to help her up, “You have any idea how long it’s gonna take me to fix those when you inevitably fuck them up again?” “Well, not long at all. The lieutenant and I are being transferred.” Jett and I let that sink in in silence as the three of us stood in silence. It felt like a punch - but Reno recovered faster than I did. “...Well, godspeed to whoever takes you over, Durling. You’re an engineer’s worst nightmare.”
“I’ll miss you, too, Reno,” Eli chuckled before turning to me, “We’ll be shipping out once you get back, as long as everything is status quo.” “Got it.” “Be careful out there.” “Yessir.”
I watched Eli go before I lowered my eyes, making a careful study of my shoes. I’d been on the Hiawatha for two months now. It was only just starting to feel… Not like the Enterprise, but like a safe space again. “Well,” I said after a moment, “Least you’ll be getting your room back to yourself.” “Looks like it,” Jett agreed, “Don’t get all mushy on me, huh?” I shook my head, pushing back my upset and flattening my expression before meeting her eye: “I was about to ask the same of you.” Jett nodded. “Would’ve been nice if we could’ve seen this through together.” “Would’ve,” I agreed quietly. “But we put our dreams away,” Jett reached out, slapping me on the shoulder before picking up her toolkit, “Don’t get blown up at the last minute. It would be a hell of an anti-climax.”
--
I scrolled through the contacts on my PADD stilling over Sidhu, Thira for a moment. The little status bubble beside her name read ‘Active’. Despite the fact that Eli and I were stationed together on the USS Pinnacle, and had been for months, I was antsy for news of the Enterprise. I’d reached out to Cornwell for an update on the crew, but I had yet to get an answer from her. I couldn’t blame her. She was entrenched in strategy, but I was desperate for news -- especially after the news of the Hiawatha’s loss had reached us nearly a week after Eli and I had been re-stationed.
I scrolled further down on the contacts list, tapping on the contact name for Tilly, Sylvia. I eyed the ‘Active’ bubble beside her name before tapping on the small video icon. I lifted the PADD up to my face, grinning when Tilly came into view. “Hi!” She greeted, waving. “Hey there. How are you?” I asked, shifting back on my bed. “Oh…” I watched Tilly glance at her surroundings before she answered, “Lorca’s on the warpath.” “The literal warpath or the metaphorical one?” Tilly laughed before sighing, “Both.” I winched, “Sorry, Tills.” “It’s not all awful,” She shrugged, “I have a roommate again, actually. Michael Burnham.” My brows rose. I knew of Michael Burnham - her name was splashed across briefings in relation to the war and the Battle of the Binary Stars. But I’d known of her, first and foremost, through Spock. He’d never spoken of her in honeyed tones, mind, but I knew that he regarded her highly. What was all of this doing to Spock? I couldn’t imagine him having to reason himself through this with limited intel from the Federation at such a distance-- “Hello? Hel-- Hello? Did I cut out? Am I frozen? Are you frozen?” I was jolted from my reverie at Tilly’s waterfall of questions. “I’m sorry,” I smiled, “Got distracted-- How’s the roomie situation?” “Well she frowned about as much as you did when you got on board.” “I warmed up.” “So did she,” Tilly smiled, and I relaxed a little, folding my legs up under myself. “Glad to hear it.” I looked away from my PADD as the doors to my room opened. “Hey, Eli,” I greeted. I saw Tilly’s eyes widen, and I glanced down to see her smoothing her hair down hurriedly. “Eli, you remember Tilly,” I added as he crossed to my bed - I’d introduced them on a previous call. “Course I do,” He smiled, sitting down beside me and giving the screen a wave, “Nice to see you again, Sylvia.” I grinned as a flush as red as her hair well up on Tilly’s cheeks. “Hi,” She answered, matching Eli’s wave. Her gaze was directed away from the screen as an announcement that I couldn’t make out crackled on her end. “Ahh-- I have to go,” She said hurriedly, turning back to the screen, “I’m sorry!” “No, don’t worry about it,” I shook my head, “Be careful.” “You guys, too!” Tilly chirped before hanging up. I looked down at the screen as it winked off. I eyed the contact for Sidhu, Thira, one more time before swiping away from my contacts. Eli leaned back against the wall, shifting further back on my bed. “If you put your shoes on my bed, Durling--” “I know the rules, kid,” He chuckled. I rolled my eyes. He’d taken to calling me that weeks ago, and I couldn't get him to shake it. “What’s got you in here, anyway?” I asked, “New mission?” “Can’t sleep.” I frowned, glancing over at Eli before I turned back to my messages. I had a new message, but where the hell was it? It wasn’t from Cornwell, I’d already checked. “Something wrong?” I pressed. “Just one of those nights. Ever have one?” “Oh, all the--” I froze, damn near dropping my PADD at the sight of the unopened message. It was recent - minutes old. And it was from Una. “...You okay, kid?” Eli’s knee nudged mine, but I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the words ‘You’re on the Pinnacle?’.
“I-- I um… Yes. I have those nights all the time. Think I’m gonna have another one of those nights tonight.” Eli crowded closer, peering over my shoulder. “Bad news?” “I don’t know yet… Can you gimme a minute?”
--
It had started with Paledore, apparently. He’d been looking for something I’d sent him a while ago, some verb conjugation that I'd worked on, and he’d noticed that my status was active. He’d figured that it had to be a fluke, and he’d gone about his business. But it had happened again and again, and he’d brought it up to Thaleh, who had brought it up to Spock. Spock had done some digging, located me in Starfleet's medical database at the Academy, and then in the ship’s records for the Pinnacle. He had brought that information to Una. Una, who was now staring at me through a video feed. Her face was carefully blank. I’d seen that look before -- I knew that she was making a concentrated effort to not give anything away. Una could be hard to read in the first place, but I may as well have been looking at a statue. My heart was thudding low in my chest, beating out a panicked, jittery tattoo that usually only accompanied the running of a 22-9-14 and a Klingon Warbird on my tail. “...So,” I started, “How’s the Pergamum?” “You’re alive.” I gave a small nod. “Yeah, they’re not trucking a corpse around on the Pinnacle for the sake of filling the new communications specialist minimum.” “You’ve been alive this entire time and you’re making jokes?” Una seethed. It chilled me through the screen and I lowered my eyes, swallowing thickly. “I know you’re upset--” “Upset?” She repeated with a scorning little laugh, “I have spent the last year watching the repercussions that your loss has had on this crew, on Pike-- and you’re making jokes.” Guilt spun through me and wobbled like a top. “Can I explain?” “I wish you would.”
I took a deep breath, steadying my nerves before I told Una what had happened - all I could remember. Soivo, Somonia, Cornwell, my time on the Discovery and the Hiawatha. Una’s face remained unmoved throughout. My only indication that the screen hadn’t frozen was Una’s occasional shift in her seat. Once I’d finished my explanation, Una gave a small nod. “Well… That certainly lines up with the timeline that Spock put together.” I couldn’t help but smile a little at that, even as I ached at the mention. “Of course he put a timeline together,” I muttered, scrubbing my hand over my eyes. I sighed, quiet for a few moments. “How are you all?” I asked, “Will you tell me that?” “You don’t deserve that answer.” I clenched my jaw, hot tears prickling at my eyes as I felt my entire being want to fold in on itself. “Una, please understand--” The video feed cut, the message on the screen indicating that the call had been terminated from Una’s side. My fingers curled around the device, my chest racking with sobs as I curled forward.
--
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” I heard behind me, “What did that punching bag say to you?” I raised my hands to stop the bag from swinging back and hitting me before I turned back to see Eli. After Una’s abrupt end to our call, I had cried until I couldn’t anymore - until my sobs had been dry and my breathing had been hiccups. And then, when the hurt had still ebbed through me, when I saw that there were no transmissions waiting for translation or missions for me to run, I went to work the rest of my hurt out on a punching bag. “I’m not in the mood, Durling,” I cautioned quietly. My voice was hoarse from its rough use earlier, and my body and nerves were rung raw from the war, from losing Jett -- from my call with Una, and from the news that had hard followed - the Discovery had been destroyed. My last call with Tilly had been our last call. Eli took a couple of cautious steps closer to me, looking me over. “I can see that. Came to offer my assistance.” I arched a brow. “Assistance?” I repeated, “The bag over here offered the same thing and look where it’s wound up.” Eli smiled a little. “You’re gonna run yourself ragged like this,” he warned. I shook my head a bit, biting the inside of my cheek to staunch a fresh wave of tears. “I already have, Eli, I can’t--” I took in a deep, shuddering breath, “I can’t rest my head right now. That’s just a fact.” “Neither can I. Maybe we can help each other out with that.” “I’m not gonna ask you to help me.”  “Why not?” “You see the mood I’m in?” I nodded toward the bag, “At least one of us needs to be in a condition to fly.” “I think I can handle you.” I arched a brow. “Eli,” I warned softly. He took a step closer, warm blue eyes and kind smile pointed at me with all softness and sincerity. “Kid,” he murmured, “You don’t have to worry about being gentle with me.”  Tag list: @angels-pie ; @fantasticcopeaglepasta  ; @mylittlelonelyappreciationtoo ; @how-am-i-serpose-to-know ; @onlyhereforthefandomandgiggles ; @inmyowncorner  ; @tardis-23 ; @2manyfandoms-solittletime ; @paintballkid711 ; @katrynec ; @hypnobananaangelfish
