Tumblr spamming billford and billfiddlesford has singlehandedly gotten me to finally watch Gravity Falls and I can't even be mad lol
#this show is actually so good so far!! I just barely passed the middle of season 1 but I'm having way more fun than I'd expected#I'm watching it with friends too and we've got the whole spectrum (not the autistic one) - one of us has already seen the whole show#one of us has watched it out of order#I've only seen plot points and vague spoilers online while the last of us knows NOTHING about gravity falls minus memes#Ford popped up in an episode recently and we had me and the first friend jumping out of our seats and the last being so confused LOL#I can't watch it all the time cause my friends are busy tho 😔#they're actually doing homework and being responsible??? 🤨 (cringe moment /j)#but I have to bully them every once in a while to watch it since I wanna know what makes this show's plot hook so many folks#(billford fanfics are so fun to read in the meantime when I barely know any plot context btw xD)#but yeah that's what I've been doing recently lol#this show's constantly got me dangling on the edge of a hyperfixation and I love it still#gravity falls#fenn rambles

Sukuna and Gojo didn't have the right to be such good characters, but there they are I guess
#Thinking of them constantly lately. The parallels are so good it makes me want to tear my face apart lol#I could have been okay with them being cool and fun and just entertaining to watch#But no they have to be actually well written complex characters that play with very intriguing concepts as well#That's when they become a problem and by god are they a problem#I can't believe one of my first impressions when watching the first few episodes of the anime was 'Gojo and Sukuna are kinda the same thing#and that the manga ended with that sort of parallel#Unified in the role of Yuji a bit#Soooo good everything happening with Gojo and Sukuna and especially in the context of the two kids#but also so good what is happening with the three kids in the end when thinking about the three kids of Gojo's past and sbfksbfjfj#Why does JJK have to be so good#when it's utterly boring and forgettable for so many chapters too with how typically mediocre shonen it gets at times?#It drives me insane lol#I talk too much#I should probably delete this later#Shonen mangas: we have the most nuts and thought inspiring world building and dynamics you've ever seen#but instead let's just watch two guys beat each other up for over one year okay? This will happen every three months of actual writing#Every once in a while there will be one page that will rewire your brain and haunt you for decades#so that you won't ever be able to entirely free yourself#Here's a sexist joke and an homophobic one too even if the story has queer themes and misogynia criticism

i'm gonna start replying to people who say 11 is their favorite doctor with "oh the writing wasn't very good but matt smith did the best he could in the role" because i am tired of pretending i liked almost any of his seasons
it's what i have to hear about 13 all the time and i'm sick to the gills of it. sick of it i say!

Not to get into Bo-Katan Discourse but the thing about Bo-Katan is that from what I've seen the people who like her are like "yeah she's a complicated person who's been through a lot and has done bad things but has also worked hard to try to make up for them and she's really interesting because of that also mean hot armor lady go brrr" and the people who don't like her are all like "she's an irredeemable bitch who's never done anything good ever and has zero nuance and I will interpret every single thing she ever says and does in the most bad faith way possible and act like every one of her flaws is unique to her and I will not devote this same energy towards other villainous characters who have redemption arcs even though the things they did are either just as bad or way worse than what she did and few of them put in as much work to try and right their wrongs as she did and also I will repeatedly bring up the fact that she was a terrorist as if I'm the only one who is aware of this" so like I'm inclined to lean towards the people who like her on account of they actually view her as a character and also are generally less annoying.

normally I'm not a fan of clip show episodes buuut I'm really enjoying the ones in season 6 of Night Court.
not just because of all the Dan stuff but... okay only 99% because of that.

shout out to british comedy for consistently being able to bring me and my dad (+ my sister sometimes) together. a good portion of bonding we do is just bingeing british comedy shows together and its great honestly

Ultimate Anime Tournament: Round 3, Matchup 32
#this is physically painful#i love mob so much but also madoka magica is literally so incredible and powerful and masterful in the story it tells#its not just edgy for the sake of being edgy its about the absolute gut wrenching horror of being a teenage girl#and having your bodily autonomy taken away without your knowledge or consent and its about depression and loneliness and companionship#loss and just how far you're willing to go to save just one beautiful kind and selfless person#its about self esteem and growing up#the loss of friendships as the people around you change#learning the horrors of the world too young#seeing death far too young. losing friends to it.#losing them to addiction or depression or even just differences from liking the same boy#its about love. and loss. kindness and cruelty.#and it executes every single one of these themes so flawlessly that i had to take breaks after every ep from ep4 onwards to think about it#mob psycho is an incredible show and executes its themes very very very well and i adore it#madoka magica is just.... its just. its irreplicable#theyre both similar in that they are parodies of their genre that deconstruct and twist its tropes on their heads#and they both do so very well#madoka is just on another level in terms of its execution of these things. because it does so in TWELVE EPISODES#i didnt even know that when i finally said yes to watching with my partner. its so talked about that i assumed it was a long running series#its almost overwhelming how tight the pacing is and how much story it tells within those twelve episodes but its so... flawless#and with as few spoilers as possible. having us follow madoka as a character is genius because we as an audience are just as naive as her#it lulls you into a false sense of security with the first three episodes because we are following madoka's understanding of things#our worldview is shattered at the same time as her. and the more we learn about homura (as madoka and the others do)#the more we come to understand the tragedy of it all. and again. it does all this in TWELVE EPISODES#when i realized exactly why the intro was at the end of the episode only once i sobbed#all this to say: gay love can in fact pierce through the veil of death and save the day. but lesbians are on a whole nother fucking LEVEL
