19. Do you view animals as being just as important as people? Why or why not? My pets are family. As far as other animals, while I’m not a vegetarian or vegan, I still believe they should be treated in a humane way and with compassion. 30. Where do you like to be kissed? Forehead kisses are sweet.
31. What is more difficult for you, looking into someones eyes when you are telling someone how you feel, or looking into someones eyes when they are telling you how they feel? Both. Eye contact is not my strongest quality.
32. Think of the last time you were REALLY angry. WHY were you angry? Do you still feel the same way? Something Jacob said to Wyatt that wasn’t okay at all. And yes.
33. You are on a flight from Honolulu to Chicago non-stop. There is a fire in the back of the plane. You have enough time to make ONE phone call. Who do you call? What do you tell them? Jacob. That I love him and to make sure he always tells our babies that I love him too.
34. You are at the doctor’s office and he has just informed you that you have approximately one month to live. Do you tell anyone/everyone you are going to die? What do you do with your remaining days? Would you be afraid? I would definitely tell some people. And I don’t know. But I don’t want to think about this with my upcoming doctor appointment. And very.
35. You can have one of the following two things. Which do you choose? Why? There’s no choices to choose between...
36. You are walking down the street on your way to work. There is a dog drowning in the canal on the side of the street. Your boss has told you if you are late even once more, you are fired. Do you take the time to save the dogs life? Why or Why not? Yes I would. Because I can find a new job. The dog won’t have another life.
37. Would you rather be hurt by the one you trust the most or the one you love the most? They’re the same.
38. Your best friend confesses that he/she has feelings for you more than just friendship. He/she is falling in love with you. What do you (or did you) do/say? I’m straight, so there’s that...
39. Think of the last person who you know that died. You have the chance to give them 1 hour of life back, but you have to give up one year of yours. Do you do it? Why or Why not? No. People might think I’m horrible for that... but no.
40. Are you the kind of friend that you would want to have as a friend? I don’t know.
41. Does love = sex? No.
42.Your boss tells your coworker that they have to let them go because of work shortage, and they are the newest employee. You have been there much longer. 49. Would you give a homeless person CPR if they were dying? Why or Why not? I’m certified, so yes. Compressions are the most important component if you’re uncomfortable doing mouth to mouth until help arrives.
50.You are holding onto your grandmother’s hand and the hand of a newborn that you do not know as they hang over the edge of a cliff. You have to let one go to save the other. Who do you let fall to their death? What was your rationale for making the decision? I don’t like this survey. I”m going to be up all night, anxious as shit. So thanks.
51. Are you old fashioned? I guess in some areas.
52. When was the last time you were nice to someone and did NOT expect anything in return for it? I never expect anything in return for my kindness.
53.Which would you choose, true love with a guarantee of a broken heart, or never loved at all? Why? True love. I would rather have been loved for awhile than to feel as though I don’t matter.

65. What’s your most irrational fear? I have a lot of them.
66. How many radio stations do you listen to? There’s two I mostly listen to.

MerStan-at-Home
Day 01   Day 02   Day 03   Day 04   Day 05   Day 06   Day 07   Day 08 Day 09   Day 10   Day 11   Day 12   Day 13   Day 14   Day 15   Day 16 Day 17   Day 18   Day 19   Day 20   Day 21   Day 22   Day 23   Day 24 Day 25   Day 26   Day 27   Day 28   Day 29   Day 30
Since today was very stressful (found out I had to go back to Wisconsin a day earlier than planned, my car was involved in an accident where no one was hurt but my car, and I drove three hours, most of it in the dark), I didn’t do one of my prompts for NaNoWriMo, but rather cleaned up and finished a scene I wrote ages ago.  It’s a cross between the MerGucket AU and the Stay-at-Home Stan AU, and, in my humble opinion, it’s great.
Word count: 1651
“Come on, Sixer, breathe.”  Two large hands pressed down on Ford’s chest.  Ford sat upright, coughing up water.  Spots danced in front of his eyes as he tried to catch his breath.  “About damn time.”  Ford looked over.
“…Am I hallucinating?” Ford asked after a moment.
“I’m not a figment of your imagination, if that’s what you’re askin’,” Stan answered.  He and Ford were on a deserted beach, a few feet from the pale blue water.  Ford’s clothes were soaked through, while Stan, clad in only pants, seemed completely dry.
“Why aren’t you wearing a shirt, then?”
“Wha- I feel like that’s pretty good support for me not being a hallucination.”
“Fair enough,” Ford mumbled.  He shook his head.  “I don’t understand anything going on right now.”
“Sounds like we’re in the same boat, then,” Stan said.  He crossed his arms and frowned at Ford.  “Why the hell did you try to drown yourself?”  Ford’s blood ran cold.
              “You saw.”
“Yeah.  I did. What’s going on, Sixer?” Stan asked quietly.  Ford’s brow furrowed.
              “How did you see?”
              “Hmm?”
“I was on a boat in the middle of the ocean.  How did you see that?” Ford asked.  Stan cleared his throat.
              “Answer my question first.”
              “Answer mine.”
              “Stanford,” Stan said flatly.
“Stanley,” Ford said in the same tone.  Ford and Stan stared at each other silently for a moment.  A small smile fought its way onto Stan’s face.
“Heh.  You’re just as much a stubborn ass as you were…shit, seven, eight years ago?”  Stan shook his head.  “That can’t be right.”
“No, it is.  It has been quite some time.”
“So, why were you trying to drown yourself?” Stan asked.
“It’s complicated,” Ford mumbled.  “I thought I could trust someone, turned out I couldn’t, so I decided to go somewhere he couldn’t follow me.”
              “The bottom of the ocean.”
              “Exactly.”
              “Ford-”
“Hey, Stan?” a voice shouted.  Ford turned his head.  A man he didn’t recognize was walking toward them.  Like Stan, he was shirtless, only wearing cargo shorts.
“What’s goin’ on, Lute?” Stan called back.  The man stopped a few feet from Ford, eyeing him with blatant curiosity.
“Angie wanted to tell ya she had to go out to work.  So ya should come grab Molly ‘fore then.”
“On it.”  Stan stood up.  Ford sighed.
“It was nice seeing you again, I suppose,” Ford said quietly.
“No, Ford, you’re comin’ with,” Stan said.  Lute cleared his throat.
“Uh, ya sure ‘bout that?” Lute asked.
              “Yes.”
              “But he’s-”
“We can trust him,” Stan said firmly.  Lute let out a small huff.
“Whatever.  It’s yer head if’n he proves otherwise.”
“He’s my twin brother,” Stan said.  Lute raised an eyebrow.
“The same one what turned his back on ya when ya got kicked out?  Don’t sound very trustworthy to me.”
“Lute.  You don’t know him like I do.”
“All right, all right,” Lute said, putting his hands up.  “I’ll tell Angie yer goin’ to come grab lil Miss Molly.”
“We’re on our way,” Stan said.  He looked at Ford.  “Comin’?”
“I don’t understand anything that is going on,” Ford said.
“Just trust me, Sixer.  You’re gonna wanna come.”
-----
Stan came to a stop in front of a large cliff.
“Okay, just stay out here,” Stan said.  “I’m gonna get Molly.”
“Who is Molly?  Please explain what’s going on,” Ford said.  Stan rubbed the back of his neck.
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.  I’ll have to show you.  Hang tight. I’ll be right back.”  Stan brushed aside a large branch, exposing a hole in the cliff.  Ford started forward.  “No, Ford. Wait here.”  Stan ducked into the hole.  Ford sighed and turned to face the ocean.  After about five minutes had passed, a head poked above the waves. Ford’s eyes widened.
Is there a woman out there? The woman caught sight of him, cocked her head curiously, then dove back underwater with a flick of a bright yellow tail.  A mermaid!  What a day for merfolk!  First there was that red male I saw earlier, now a yellow female.  Ford took the journal out of his pocket.  I’m glad I thought to write on waterproof pages.  He flipped the book open to the page with his notes on the male earlier. Before he could write anything, someone behind him cleared a throat.  Ford turned around.  Stan grinned at him.
“All right, you wanted to know who Molly is?  Here.”  Stan nodded at the thing resting in his arms.  Ford frowned.
“Is- is that a mermaid?” Ford asked quietly.  Stan nodded, beaming.  “Clearly an infant.  Not more than a few months old.”
              “Yep.”
“Remarkable,” Ford breathed.  “You said the name was Molly?  So it’s female.”
              “Wh-”
“A fine specimen.”  Ford reached out to touch the mermaid’s green scales.  Stan took a step back, a sour look on his face.  “What?”               “What the fuck is wrong with you?” Stan demanded.
“What are you talking about?  I’m just talking about your…pet, perhaps?” Ford hedged.  Stan’s mouth dropped open.
“My pet?!  Ford, look at her.  Does she look like anyone you know?” Stan asked.  Ford peered at the mermaid.  The baby giggled happily and clapped her small webbed hands.  She had thick brown curls and a large ruddy nose to match her rosy cheeks.  Ford’s heart dropped to his feet.
              “…She looks like you.”
“Yeah.  She does. Wanna know why?”
              “I’m dreading the answer.”
“She’s my daughter, Stanford,” Stan said.  Ford swallowed.
“Is- I take it her mother is a mermaid?” Ford asked, trying to be casual.
              “Yeah.”
“Does she have a yellow tail?”
“You saw her leave, huh?” Stan said.  “I told her if ya saw her, you’d probably write about her or- yep, there’s your science notebook.”  Ford smiled sheepishly.  “Go on, show me what ya wrote.”
“Uh, I didn’t get anything down about her before you got back.  I do have my notes about a merman I saw earlier.” Ford showed Stan the pages.  “Unfortunately, I didn’t get a good look at him.  He had a red tail, and I sketched him from the back but-”  Stan stared silently at the journal, his face carefully guarded.  “Wait, do you recognize him?”
“Yeah,” Stan said after a moment.  “Yeah, I do.” Molly began to emit a high-pitched wail.  “Shit, she can’t stay outta the water for too long. Gimme a sec.”  Stan rushed over to the water’s edge and carefully dipped Molly’s tail under.  Ford stared at Stan’s back.
              “Stanley…”
“Yeah?” Stan asked, still watching Molly splash her tail excitedly in the water. Ford joined him and crouched down. He peered closely at Stan.  Stan looked at him, confused.  “What are you- hey!”  Ford poked Stan’s neck.  At Ford’s touch, three thin slits instinctively rose up, revealing red flesh below.  Ford stumbled back.
“You- the merman I saw earlier was you, wasn’t it?” Ford whispered. Stan sighed.
“Fine.  Yeah. The second you mentioned the tail color, I figured it out.  Red’s actually pretty uncommon.  Mearl – Molly’s grandpa – says I’m the first merson he’s ever met with red scales.”
“You were watching me on the boat.”
“I didn’t know it was you, okay?  Angie – Molly’s mom – and I were taking Molly out for her first trip outside the colony.  She’s a bit young for it, but we needed some air.”  Ford raised an eyebrow in amusement.  “Water.  Whatever. You know what I mean.  When you saw me, I was tellin’ Angie to hide Molly in the family cave, ‘cause there was a ship nearby.  A little bit later, I saw someone jump overboard, and went to check out what was happening.  It turned out to be you, and, well-”  Stan shrugged.  “You know the rest.”
“How are you a merman?” Ford asked.
“I fell in love with a mermaid and ate a magic plant.”
“There has to be more to the story than that.”
“Yeah, but it’d take a while to tell the whole thing,” Stan said.  He stroked Molly’s hair absentmindedly.  “What’s going on with you, Sixer?  Why the hell would you just jump straight to drowning yourself?  Who’s after you?”
“His name’s Bill,” Ford said softly.
“Bill…okay.  What makes him so nasty?”
“It’s a long story,” Ford sighed.  “In summary, he’s- he knows more about the magical creatures and items of the sea than anyone else.  And he’s not afraid to utilize that information for his own gains.  I discovered that he was using the research I was working on to disrupt natural ecosystems.  Essentially, pillaging the ocean’s magical bounty.”
“Pillaging- oh, shit.”  Stan stared down at the wet sand.  “I know who you’re talkin’ about.”
              “Really?”
“Yeah.  News of mer hunters tends to spread fast.  Especially if they’re as brutal as Bill.”  Stan snorted.  “God, that’s such a dumb name for such a scary guy.”  He looked at Ford.  “So. What are you gonna do?”
              “I- I don’t know what I’ll do.”
“Well…”  Stan glanced at the ocean.  “You said that this person couldn’t follow you to the bottom of the ocean.  And that’s where I live now.  If you want, you can crash on my couch for a while.”
              “I’m not a merman.  I would drown.”
“Not a problem.  Angie’s mom taught me a spell that makes someone breathe underwater.”
              “Do merfolk have magical capabilities?”
              “Kinda.”
“Fascinating,” Ford murmured.  Stan rolled his eyes.
              “So, are you gonna come?”
“…I don’t see why not.”  Ford smiled hesitantly at Molly.  “At the very least, I could catch up with you and get to know the mer family you’ve become a part of.  Such as my newfound niece.”
“It might be more than just Molly, Sixer.”  Stan grinned.  “Man, you’re gonna lose it when you see the eggs.”  Stan stood up and began to head back to the opening in the cliff.  Ford blinked, his brain trying to catch up with what he had just heard.  He shot up with a small yelp.
              “Eggs?”

Ava Character Development aka me answering questions I made on my post here. Felt it was a good exercise for myself! Most is under the cut since its a long list. 20 and 28 though below are important to me though, but I'm just posting this to have it out there (I did tell myself I would do this so)
1. Where is their favorite place to hang out in Vesuvia? Why?
The market. Her old village had occasional merchants pass through and seeing their wares was always a special moment for her. Seeing it all available and bustling everyday makes it even better. Ava often buys gifts for others there.
2. How does your apprentice feel when they are called a witch?
Doesnt care. Since most of her magic is wind, its very easy to conceal when she uses it, and can appear none the wiser when messing with people. Only until she acquired the shop did people know she was a magician, but still applies. Shrugs it off.
3. Do they have a familiar? Why did you choose that animal? How did they meet?
Already answered but here again: She does not have one. If she did I always imagined a tiny bird or chipmunk/squirrel. At the same time, I can see her with a gigantic fluffy dog or something of the sort to nap with often.
4. Are there any of Nadia's sisters your apprentice would like to hang out with?
She can get along with any of them. I think she would get along best with Nasmira though.
5. What is their opinion on each of the courtiers?
Volta: poor girl, tries to help her out.
Valerius: doesnt bother her, his pettiness rivals her own, but she ignores him
Vulgora: also ignores, but also makes her laugh
Vlastomil: Creepy, doesnt know how to handle him
Valdemar: do not interact
6. What did they do while at the clinic?
She likely helped with keeping the patients as comfortable as they can try to be. Stuff like getting more bedding, purifying and cleaning everything, meal prep, etc, while Julian tried actual treatment options.
7. What are their tasks around the shop? What can they make?
Similar to clinic work. Making sure things are in order and tidy. Lets Asra work with sales.
8. Describe their daily routine
Ava is an early riser, easy to wake, but not willing to leave the bed. Eventually gets up, gets the shop ready or cooks while Asra tends to the other. Lunch break she goes into the market and other shops to get food or errands. Close shop in the afternoon, eat dinner, and sometimes they hang out together, spend time alone, or go to meet with other friends.
9. Major Arcana that suits them? Minor?
No idea. Should research this.
10. Answered
11. Answered
12. Did they have a certain opinion about the palace and court before the events of the game? Did it change?
Always wondered what all the partying was like, but believed all of them in the palace didnt care about the town. Changed knowing Nadia and Portia at least do.
13. How do they feel about traveling in the magical realms?
Loves it! Loves exploring and adventuring, and seeing stuff she never possibly could normally in the world.
14. Where is their least favorite place in Vesuvia? Why?
Nopal (though is that technically not in Vesuvia? Idk) because she does not like warm places. Next would be the Coliseum after knowing the history of that place.
15. How did your apprentice feel about Asra leaving them all the time? Taking care of them?
She picked up a lot of his mannerisms over those years. Him leaving without her bothered Ava greatly, not just because he didnt take her, but that she couldnt take her own trips on the flip side if he was here. Tried to be the smallest burden when he was taking care of her. Didnt ask for much.
16. Name the one thing your apprentice wants to see happen, or say to someone.
To see to her mom again before she died of the plague, since she left when she was old enough to (around 14-15)
17.  What is the outcome you see happening for your apprentice and their significant other?
Traveling away from Vesuvia in the summer to somewhere cooler, and other places throughout the year. Still owns the shop but operates it inconsistently. Would not be the same if she was with Nadia, but maybe so for Julian.
18. What would drive your apprentice so far as to strike a bargain?
Dunno, do not think she would.
19. At this point in the game, do they care more about recovering the rest of their memories or living as they are now?
She is not concerned as much anymore about recovering her memories and would rather just live as she is in the present.
20. Would they be up for another Masquerade despite all that has happened? New outfit theme?
Yes, although without all the stress, and not prepping or cleaning anything. Not sure about any masquerade outfit for her at all yet. Copying Faust? A moth? Deer? Some sort of aquatic outfit? Please help me.
21. What is their first reaction seeing their LI cry?
Give the biggest hug on the planet. Smooth their back, hair, etc. Kiss their cheek or shoulder and let them cry it out while reassuring them
22. Are they scared of what they have learned? Of the powers they have developed?
She really wants to know whats going on and why she is basically ‘the chosen one’. Shes more weary and concerned than scared.
23. Do they like snow? Have they seen it before?
Ava loves snow! Has seen it before, but not since Vesuvia.
24. Skipping
25. Are they still scared of the Lazeret?
No.
26. Answered
27. What is the best thing their significant other could do to cheer them up?
Give them something back. A gift. Spend quiet time together in their company as she gets through it. Hold her.
28. Describe what their magical realm gateway would look like.
Represents a forest, and is either daytime or nighttime depending on when she opens it. Its huge, full of mystery and magical beings, and she rarely starts in the same place, which makes it feel like its changing all the time when it actually isnt. Sometimes there is a chance she sees colorful magic swirl around, similar to visiting the cave in Asra’s route.
If she spent more time here, she would eventually find landmarks of especially interesting areas such as a waterfall off a giant cliff near the edge of the forest, the spring that travels away from it, an area where the trees are especially tall (think Emerald Graves in Dragon Age Inquisition, but not quite as giant), certain hot spots for certain magical animals or plants, etc.
If you made it this far thank you sm for your interest in my oc and I'm absolutely shocked! ❤

Hello to all the fighters out there:
“I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m going.” 86 year old Alzheimer’s patient said with a smile.
With that statement, I was reminded that one of the most important ways you can help someone is by offering some guidance when it is needed.  I haven’t posted my complete story of my struggle with anxiety and panic disorder before, not because of shame, or fear, or pain, but because I think that it’s too complicated, or self-indulgent, or slightly narcissistic.  However, I think that for those who are new to opening up about the pain of depression, suicide, self-harm, loneliness, sadness, isolation, anxiety, panic, or any other socially painful issue, hearing the ongoing stories of their fellow fighters can make a difference.
So please excuse the length this is sure to become. Not only is it a long story, but I am a very wordy person. (It’s in my nature to talk – a lot – really – a lot.)
So here it goes… It was a dark and stormy night.  Oops, wrong story.  Well, no actually, anyone can tell you that the most beautiful nights will feel dark and stormy when you are faced with the pain and agony of mental illness.  My dark and stormy night lasted for years and there were times when I thought the only way out was, well…out.  I have been married for 27+ years now, and while my story started long before I even met my husband, it became the most difficult and life-changing just before our 15th anniversary (that’s 2003 for those not wanting to do the math.)  My story isn’t mine alone either – none of ours really are.  We share our lives with so many people. The passing impact of those around us can often unintentionally change the course of our lives – for better or worse.
For months, my husband, Mike, had been having all kinds of physical issues.  One of the most misunderstood aspects of mental health problems is that they can manifest themselves with physical symptoms.  He could not concentrate, his vision was bad, his sleep patterns were all over the place, he had headaches, twitches, muscle pain, trouble remembering, and motor coordination problems.  All a really big issue for a man who makes his living as a professional musician. It is in his nature to hide his flaws (who among us doesn’t feel this way). He feared it would look like he was making excuses or allowing it to get in his way.  It was something for him to deal with and of no business to the rest of the world.
As we went from doctor to doctor, it just got worse. Test after test revealed nothing.  Mike isn’t really keen on doctors, to begin with, (especially ones that can’t offer answers) and getting him to continue when the results were so pathetic became an ongoing struggle.  We started fighting – and not in a good way.  I had long dealt with panic and anxiety, but mostly on my own and in silence.  However, my panic attacks became more frequent and my anxiety more pronounced. I spent most of my days in tears.
I am a fix-it girl by nature. Whether objects, animals, humans, or society, I want to make it all better, and the most painful thing that can happen is to be made impotent to help.  So we started having the same circular argument.  It went something like this:
Mike:  “I don’t know what’s wrong with me.!” Me:  “What can I do to help?  I don’t know what I can do.” Mike:  “It’s not about you!” Me:  “I know that, but I don’t know what to say!” Mike:  “Just forget it.”
Spiral down from there.  Doors slamming, tears flowing, chairs occasionally breaking, threats of leaving, actual leaving, and on, and on, and on.
It got so bad that I was afraid to go home.  Not because I was afraid of him, but because I was afraid for him. I didn’t know if I would come home and find him hanging from the rafters, or curled up in a fetal position – catatonia having taken over.  I didn’t want to have the same argument again.  I began to have increased panic attacks – both in frequency and intensity.  My anxiety skyrocketed, and my migraines, weight, stress, and blood pressure all shot through the roof.  I started thinking of ways to end myself as well.  I entertained the spectacular –  drive off a cliff – or the instant impact of a car vs. a wall – or maybe just driving until I ran out of gas and walking until I ran out of… me. I worked through all the options until one night I finally left.  I just couldn’t take the pain anymore.  Without plan or purpose, I got in my car and I drove.  And then I stopped, hyperventilated until I passed out, came too, cried until the blood vessels in my eyes burst, and the racking sobs caused my body to shake violently.  When there was nothing left and I was completely empty, I decided I couldn’t care anymore.  I couldn’t continue to endure this pain. I built a fortress of protection around myself and cut off the emotionally damaged pieces that were so very devastating. And in that empty void, I found I could think.  I thought about the good, the bad, and the ugly.  I found that I no longer needed him to survive – I would be fine all by myself.  I was strong enough to make it alone and without him, I figured the pain would lessen. But then I also saw that I wanted him in my life – that I liked the us that was greater than me. That his very smile, as infrequent as it was, made my life brighter. That what we had built over the 15 years was an amazing and intricate structure of two lives woven together.  There was something freeing about realizing that I had a choice.  In this empty void I created with the emotional wall, I was able to see that I could find my way back.  Not because I needed him in my life, but because I wanted him there.  Because what we were together was something greater than each of us alone.  That the reasons I married him in the first place were still there – buried under the crap we were heaping on each other because we didn’t understand what was really wrong – that depression, anxiety, and mental illness were in control of our lives.
So, I drove home.  Of course, by this time I was somewhere in the middle of Wyoming, and Denver was a long way away, but I drove. And when I got there around sun-up, he was there too.  And I told him I didn’t need him. But I also told him I wanted him – that I wanted to find the us that had been lost.
Us 25th Anniversary Camping Trip in Canada
So we really started the fight – this time the fight that defines this group.  And we fought our way through more doctors until one finally suggested that the physical issues might be the manifestation of clinical depression.  Now the fight became one of finding the right combination of meds – for him and for me.  It became one of talk therapy and counseling to fix the places that had been broken and to tear down the walls that had been built – of facing the pain and damage that we had wrought on ourselves and each other – of building us anew. I had often heard that it is at the lowest point that you find your way back.  That’s a little like saying my keys were in the last place that I looked.  (Think about it for a minute.)  Your lowest point is always the place where you find your choices.  And the choices you make will forever define your future.  Suicide is a choice – but so is living.  I firmly believe that living is the more difficult, the more painful, the more complicated choice.  But it is also the most amazing, the most wonderful, the most beautiful one.  Without darkness, the moon would not shine.  Without pain, the wonderful means nothing.  It is in the opposites that we can see the colors that fill our lives.  In the pain and desperation felt by one, all the rest become the saviors – every broken person has a piece that will fit someone else.  A kind word or touch becomes the lifeline needed to always keep fighting.
I am lucky to have a spouse that I can turn to when I am not enough for myself – when my strength and courage seem missing in action.  But we also find strength from our animals.
Our cats (5) and dogs (2) are often found lying in a big pile on the bed – heads, tails, arms, legs, and bodies wrapped around each other to form a big furry pile of indistinguishable shapes.  The concept of “cat” or “dog” being unimportant to the greater purpose.  I got my first cat when my anxiety about college got to be too much.  I thought needing to care for something else would help me focus. And it did.  She needed me and I couldn’t fail her and in return, she would give to me the love and affection that I needed in the middle of the night, in the middle of a crying jag.  Maybe it is telling about our mental states that we have so many animals – maybe we just have big hearts and are suckers for furry faces.  Whatever the reason, there are times when they have pulled us through – when we both were spiraling down and needed a warm furry body to bury our faces in.
Today we continue to Always Keep Fighting.  Sometimes we win the battle, sometimes we lose the skirmish.  But we survive to begin another day tomorrow.  Each day is a choice to live, to share, to change someone else’s for the better.  We are still broken, but then what favorite item isn’t a little frayed around the edges, chipped on the corner, dented, scratched, or bent in the middle – and it is the flaws that make it ours and ours alone.
I worked at an Alzheimer’s residential home.  As I fix-it girl, I had to learn that I can’t hope to fix what is broken but to simply make their today as good as possible.  My ladies would often say they cannot repay the kindness I show them.  What they don’t see, and what has become so important to me, is that in giving, I am repairing my own soul.  I fill in the cracks with their smiles and laughter.
Always Keep Fighting… It’s worth every cut and scrape you take. Remember fighters that you are not alone. You have a family ready with band-aids to help seal your wounds.
We re-committed to each other on our 15th anniversary with matching tattoos that say:
Love Strength Courage With Single-hearted Devotion
I don’t always know where I am going…but I’m going.  And I want all y’all to go with me.
Team Nevin Love unconditionally Live life like a 12-year-old Give even when you think you have nothing And…Always Keep Fighting.
I am a huge fangirl of the show Supernatural and of the work the lead actors are doing to destigmatize mental illness. Jared Padalecki has been the driving force behind the #AlwaysKeepFighting campaigns to raise funds to support various causes promoting mental health awareness.  He has become very vocal about his own struggles and the importance of realizing how many people live with mental illness.  His drive has prompted fans everywhere to reach out to each other and offer support and strength – from creating facebook groups dedicated to supporting,  to Twitter campaigns to match people willing to buy represent.com shirts for those who can’t afford one.  The work that Jared and Jensen Ackles are doing has taken on a life of its own.  If you struggle with any kind of mental illness, please reach out to someone – you are not alone – there is a world of fighters ready to help.

True Survival Stories: Narratives of Surviving the Impossible
1. Ricky Megee
We’ve watched survival movies you wouldn’t suppose possible in real life until you come across well-documented true survival stories from random people.
In 2006, employees in a cattle station in one of the most remote the sectors of Australia came upon a man named Ricky Megee. He claimed to have been stranded in the Australian outback for 70 days.
Megee said the last thing he recollected was his vehicle breaking down during his cross-country drive. There is some speculation that he was the victim of a violent assault during which he was perhaps medication. When he gained consciousness, he realise his demise.
For over two months, Megee survived on only frogs, serpents, lizards, and the water he found in a nearby dam. He lost over half his body weight upon rescue.

2. Joe Simpson and Simon Yates
Together with Joe Simpson, Simon Yates climbed Siula Grande in 1985, via the hitherto unclimbed west face. On the descent, Simpson fell through a cornice, breaking his right leg and heel.
To continue descending, Yates then utilized ropes to lower Simpson down the mountain in stages. While descending in the night in bad weather, Yates lowered Simpson over an unseen cliff edge.
This meant that he was hanging over a deep fissure with only Simpson’s hold on the rope to prevent him falling. To avoid falling off the mountain himself, Yates cut the rope.
Simpson thus fell approximately 50 feet into the fissure. He survived the autumn, unbeknownst to Yates, who presumed he died.
Simpson managed to climb out of the crevasse and reached base camp four days later. Some mountaineers were very critical of Yates’ decision to cut the rope on his partner.
Yates argued that he could not rely upon an army of people to help since they were far on the mountain flank with a raging cyclone in progress.
Despite this decision, his rescue try contributed significantly to saving Simpson’s life. Simpson has always vehemently defended Yates, saying he would have done it himself given the same position.( via Wikipedia)

3. Aron Ralston
In 2003, a young climber named Aron Ralston set out to conquer Bluejohn Canyon in Utah. When an 800 -pound boulder changed, Ralston observed himself trapped against the canyon wall with his hand crushed under the boulder.
After six days of what he calls” sleep-deprived, meandering thinks ,” Ralston built the difficult decision to use his multitool to amputate his own limb and free himself. He then repelled to safety.
Ralston’s story inspired the movie 127 Hours. Learn more about his survival narrative in the video below by TLC via Sirtoppim :P TAGEND

4. Mauro Prosperi
In 2014, an Italian athlete named Mauro Prosperi set out to complete the Marathon des Sables — a brutal six-day run in the Sahara desert. By day four, he was making good time in the race( he was in fourth place) and had begun to fall in love with the desert landscape.
Prosperi’s luck changed when he found himself in the middle of an eight-hour sandstorm that left him disoriented, lost, and alone.
With just a few furnishes and MREs on hand, and after trying and failing to catch the attention of two pas aircrafts, Prosperi survived for 10 days by drinking his own distilled urine and eating bats.

5. Douglas Mawson
Douglas Mawson is now an Australian hero due to his historic Antarctic exploration mission in the early 20 th century. According to Cracked.com :P TAGEND
On December 14, 1912, Mawson and his two colleagues, Belgrave Ninnis and Xavier Mertz, were returning to base after successfully not dying for a few days … when Ninnis fell into a fissure, dragging their sledge, their renders, and most of their puppies down with him. They were around 310 miles from home.
Eventually, Mertz died from cold and exhaustion, leaving Mawson to soldier on alone … Then, unbelievably( or perhaps entirely believably ), Mawson’s sledge get wedged in the snow.
He also fell into a crevasse, where he” dangled helplessly above the abyss, with his sledge behind him edging towards the lip .”
After pulling himself up from a frozen grave and surviving 32 days in the harshest environment on countries around the world, Mawson ultimately reached his hut.
He was then told that he would have to wait 10 more months in Antarctica. The ship meant to take him back home had sailed off only a few hours earlier, believing him dead.

6. Marina Chapman
Of all the true survival stories here, Marina Chapman’s story might be the most unique and unbelievable. True survival narratives in the wilderness don’t get any more amazing than this.
Though there is some speculation that her survival tale may be untrue or embellished, Chapman states she was kidnapped from her Colombian village. At four years old, she was then abandoned in the jungle.
Unable to fend for herself, she began to follow a group of capuchin monkeys. She said, they “raised” her rescue by hunters around age 10.
During her time in the jungle, Chapman took shelter in trees and lived off of wild berries and bananas. After her rescue, Chapman says she was sold to a brothel and lived as a street urchin.
She was also enslaved by a mafia family before finally adopted around age 14.
Do you think her survival narrative is true? Check out the video by Buzz Sourse below :P TAGEND

7. Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight
Between 2003 and 2004, Ariel Castro kidnapped these three young women in Cleveland. They expended the next ten years captive in his home.
They suffered harsh living conditions, starvation, and physical, psychological, and sexual abuse. One of them( Amanda Berry) was even impregnated by Castro and dedicated birth to a daughter during her captivity.
In 2013, Berry’s young daughter “ve noticed that” her father’s car was not in the driveway and alerted her mom. Acting fast, Berry grabbed the child and ran out into the street, crying for help.
She called 911 from a neighbor’s telephone, and the three women were finally rescued. These women’s story is a true evidence to how much a human being can withstand and just how strong the will to live is.

8. Andes Plane Crash Survivors
Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 was a chartered flight carrying 45 people, including a rugby union team. With them also were their friends, household, and associates.
The plane crashed in the Andes on 13 October 1972, in an incident known as the Andes flight disaster. In the Hispanic world and South America, it is also known as the Miracle in the Andes( El Milagro de los Andes ).
More than a quarter of the passengers died in the crash and several others rapidly succumbed to cold and injury. Of the 27 who were alive a few days after the accident, another eight died because of an avalanche that swept over their shelter in the wreckage.
Rescue came for the last 16 survivors on 23 December 1972, more than two months after the accident. The survivors had little food and no source of heat in the harsh conditions at over 3,600 metres( 11,800 ft) altitude.
Faced with starvation and radio news reports that search and rescue stopped, the survivors fed on the dead passengers preserved in the snow.
Rescuers did not learn of the survivors until 72 days after the crash when passengers Nando Parrado and Roberto Canessa, after a 10 -day trek across the Andes, discovered Chilean arriero Sergio Catalan.
He then, devoted them food and alerted the authorities to the existence of the other survivors.( via Wikipedia)

9. Sully Sullenberger and the Crew and Passengers of U.S. Airways Flight 1549
On January 15, 2009, U.S. Airways flight 1549 took off from LaGuardia airport in New York, heading for Charlotte, North Carolina. After just a few minutes, the plane struck a flock of geese, causing both engines to fail.
In an act of gallantry, quick reasoning, and exceptional airmanship, the pilot, “Sully” Sullenberger alerted air traffic control that he would be landing the plane on the Hudson River.
And he did just that, saving the lives of his entire crew and all 150 passengers on board the plane.

10. The Chilean Miners
The 2010 Copiapo mining accident, also known then as the” Chilean mining accident”, began in the afternoon of Thursday, 5 August 2010 as a significant cave-in at the distressed 121 -year-old San Jose copper-gold mine.
The interred humen, who became known as” Los 33″ (” The 33″ ), procured themselves trapped 700 meters( 2,300 ft) underground and about 5 kilometers( 3 mi) from the mine’s entrance via spiraling underground service ramps.
The mixed crew of experienced miners and technical support personnel, with less experience working underground, survived for a record 69 days deep underground before their rescue.( via Wikipedia)

Pebble Beach, 17 mile drive, Bixby Bridge, and McWay Falls

“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” ~Andre Gide
** Note – I have had a pretty good sinus infection for the last several weeks.  It has kicked me to the ground so between that and limited or no internet I am, once again, several weeks behind in my writing.  I will catch up when I can but the journey continues, just at a slightly slower pace until I am feeling better.
The fog was still lingering around the coast in the early morning hours as the wisps of low lying clouds floated through the campground.  It would be a shame not to enjoy this beautiful setting, even in the fog, so we took a walk along the sand dunes and then the beach before heading out and up the coast.  There were a few people out walking their dogs and others just walking looking for shells and sand dollars that had washed up along the shore.  The waves, lightly crashing onto the beachfront, uncovered the fragments of shells, sand dollars and long pieces of kelp that had been deposited on the beach.
There was a group of school kids who was being taught how to paddle board at the base of Morro Rock.  They appeared restless, moving around while the instructor was trying to tell them how to paddle out and then stand on the board.  Rather than sitting there being lectured about how to do it, almost all of them seemed anxious to get in the water.
The walk was nice.  There were several types of seabirds in the shallow pools left by the receding tide.  Several groups of pelicans, formation flying back and forth along the beach would get close to the rocks then turn to fly back out along the waters’ edge. Some would head to deeper water where they would fly several feet above the water until they spotted a fish then climb rapidly to about thirty feet off the water and dive straight down to catch their prey.  It was enjoyable to watch nature take its course.  I guess that might not be how the little fish saw it but from shore it was pretty interesting to see how the pelicans worked for their food.
When we got on the road later that morning, it started out foggy with low hanging clouds still covering Morro Rock.  However, the fog quickly dissipated as we drove inland to Highway 101.  We had to detour off the Pacific Coastal Highway (Hwy 1) due to a massive mudslide, back in May 2017, which took out a bridge.  Those living along Big Sur were cut off from civilization after more than 1 million tons of rock and dirt cascaded down a slope in a landslide the likes of which local officials said they had never seen before.  The slide buried about a quarter mile of the highway in dirt up to 40 feet deep.  The road, also known as State Route 1, is about 70 miles south of Monterey.  It has had about a 12 mile section from Ragged Point to Gorda closed since last year.  The California DOT has been constructing a new bridge that is expected to open later this summer.
Yesterday, we took a drive to just below the south closure point to see the elephant seals.  Today, we are making our way to the northern side of the closure and will drive back south to see the sights along the Big Sur section of Hwy 1.
Driving up Highway 101 was an agricultural delight finding many fields growing grapes, fruit trees, and berries.  There were fields of vegetables: lettuce, cabbage, artichokes, and others that we could not identify.  It was a busy area with some fields being harvested, others being planted, and ongoing work to maintain other fields not quite ready for harvest.  It appeared that more labor was needed to harvest crops but those who were working were doing a great job.
The detour brought us to Monterey by the Laguna Seca Racetrack (Indy car racetrack) where we continued the drive out to Pebble Beach for the 17 mile drive along the beach, golf courses, and the scenic viewpoints along the way.  The cost was $10.25 to drive the rocky shores around the golf courses.  The crashing waves made a spectacular backdrop along the Pacific Ocean for those playing golf or walking along the beach.
Golf Course View
It is a beautiful scenic drive for ten dollars and worth every penny to see the incredible homes, vistas, and viewpoints along the way.
One of the most scenic drives on the Monterey Peninsula, and quite possibly the world, is found behind the prestigious gates of Pebble Beach.  The famous 17-Mile Drive is a visually stunning stretch of roadway which hugs the pacific coastline from Pacific Grove to Pebble Beach and features awe-inspiring sights along the way. The drive allows you plenty of time to cover the entire stretch of road to fully immerse yourself in the wonders of this seaside gem.
Pebble Beach
There are many pull offs and parking areas to enjoy these iconic landmarks (and photo opportunities) which include The Lone Cypress, Spanish Bay, Stillwater Cove, the Del Monte Forest, and the world-renowned Pebble Beach Golf Links.  You are likely to see a variety of wildlife ranging from grazing deer on the golf course to barking sea lions near Bird Rock.
After entering the gates of Pebble Beach, the drive takes you by Spanish Bay golf course and to the parking areas along Pebble Beach.  The beach is aptly named as the white sandy beach is covered in fist sized pebbles with larger stones closer to the walkways and roads that wind along the shore.
Across from the Spy Glass Golf Course, where we parked, you could see deer coming out of the tall grass onto the fairway.  The beautiful setting is both calm, with the lush vegetation along the course, and invigorating as the Pacific Ocean’s waves crash onto the many rocks along the water’s edge.
Rocky Coast Line
With all the rocks along the beach it was easy for Cairn Stones to be stacked and balanced.
Pebble Beach Cairn Stones
There were several stacks along the beachfront, some close to the road while others were closer to the beach area.
Cairn Stones
A bus filled with Japanese people offloaded next to the motorhome and began taking pictures of anything and everything imaginable along the beach.  They took photos of each other, the greens on the golf course, and the rocks just off the beach in the ocean.  They were amazed that some rocks were covered “white” in bird poop.  They scurried back on the bus and we saw them stop after stop; it was sort of a comical leap frog from viewpoint to viewpoint watching them with their cameras.
The road winds its way around the golf courses and past the very expensive houses dotting the hillsides.  There was a mixture homes. The older homes, which were simplistic but elegant, were mixed in with the extravagant mansions and it appeared that some of the owners had more money than brains with what they had built or were building.  The styles of architecture varied from the simple Mediterranean styles and Spanish fortresses to ultra-modern homes.  There was a lot of construction going on and several houses were still under construction since my last drive through two years ago.
As you climb in elevation along the cliff, winding around the jagged shoreline, you come into an area where there are older houses - both Cliff side and on the interior side of the road.  These houses were probably built, between the 50s and 70s, during a time when things were not as extravagant.  Construction was completed so the main house, guest houses, and parking areas or pools blended in with the beautiful twisted cypress trees.  It was not long before you came across the famous Lone Cypress Tree, clinging to the solitary rock where it rests.
The Lone Cypress Tree
This tree has endured all types of weather; wind-blown monsoons, driving rain & fog, and other natural events yet still remains perched on the tiny rock outcropping.
The rest of the drive takes you around the golf clubhouse, spa area, places to eat and shop as you enjoy this beautiful setting.  The road continues around past more houses and condo complexes before leading you to another entrance gate close to the west side of the compound out to Hwy 1.
Leaving Pebble Beach, it was an easy connection to drive south on Hwy 1 to Big Sur where we saw many dramatic cliffs along the highway.  We made stops at Bixby Bridge and further down the road at McWay Falls, both great places for beautiful photos.  The road construction and bridge work was just past the falls so it was necessary to turn around and drive back north along the coastal highway.
As you drive south on US1, past Carmel by the Sea, the road starts its climb and winds through the curves gaining elevation over the ocean.  The jagged rocks along the coast and the waves crashing into them are reminiscent of those “Kodak” moments from long ago.
Rocky Coast
Once you are about two thousand feet above the ocean, you can see the Bixby Bridge in the distance.  Its curved arch underneath is part of its superstructure and clings to each side of the mountain’s walls as the river flows into the ocean far below.  Parking is very limited along the crest and even less if you turn off the little side road so it was lucky that there was room for the motorhome.  I pulled into a regular parking spot with the front wheels as far forward as I could go without going over the cliff and hoped the back end of the RV would be off the highway.  There was about a foot between me and the white line on the road so it was safe to make this stop for photos.
Bixby Bridge from Cliff
I took the normal pictures from the cliff overlooking the bridge and ocean but also wanted to hike up the small road across the street to get photos of the bridge with the ocean behind it.  It did not disappoint as the angle and the composition in the photos are different from the ones on the cliff.
Bixby Bridge toward Pacific Ocean
Continuing the drive south in Big Sur, curve after curve, beautiful vista after vista, you arrive at my favorite place along the coastal drive, McWay Falls.  It is located in the Julia Pfeiffer State Park and is such a pleasure to see.  There are trails leading from the park through a tunnel under the highway to the trail alongside the highway where a short walk brings you to the vantage point to see the beautiful waterfall cascading into the Pacific Ocean.
McWay Falls
The beach along this cove is protected by large rocks that the surf pounds against, creating spectacular splashes of water in the air.  It has a very calm atmosphere as everyone talks in hushed tones with the occasional “beautiful” or “oh, my” heard among those gathered to see this beautiful place.
McWay Falls Panorama
By then, the sun was setting as we drove into Monterey Pines RV Park which is located on a naval military installation.  It had a beautiful golf course, little bar and breakfast facility.  It was a nice place to stop along the way before arriving at my youngest daughter’s house.

Is Defeating Diabetes Kit, a program by certified nutritionist and New York Times bestselling author Yuri Elkaim price your cash? Browse this review to the top and find out why Contra Health Scam is not thus thrilled about this program even though it's not a scam! Elkaim claims that his product has the ‘life saving’ information for those plagued by Kind a pair of Diabetes and pre-diabetes. His pitch page essentially centers on selling data about some ‘super starch’ which has the potential of fully reversing your Sort 2 Diabetes while not having to require any medicine or insulin shots. But before I go more, lets initial of all verify Elkaim’s identity, shall we? Who is Yuri Elkaim? yuri elkaim defeating diabetes kit review e1466031963619 Defeating Diabetes Kit Review: Is Yuri Elkaims Product Price It? Yuri Elkaim could be a certified Holistic Nutritionist and fitness skilled who has been practicing for regarding 13 years currently. He holds High Honours degree in Physical Education and Health/Kinesiology from the University of Toronto. He additionally was a former soccer player however had to quit because of unexplained bouts of fatigue and alternative health issues. But through it all, he mustered the energy to coach himself to be healthy and match … and for 7 years he served as the strength & conditioning/nutrition coach for the University of Toronto men’s soccer team. Per his Amazon profile, Elkaim has authored ‘over 130’ workout programs. His book All-Day Energy Diet may be a New York Times bestseller. He has conjointly been featured in several reputable news shops like Huffington Post and may be a contributor at US News & World Report. He is also the owner and professor of Super Nutrition Academy, a program that claims to supply the ‘essential’ health data that people really would like for smart health. It is from this academy that Defeating Diabetes Kit is being marketed. I can additionally confirm that he is the owner of the merchandise. What is Defeating Diabetes Kit? Like I earlier stated, Defeating Diabetes Kit is centered on a ‘super starch’ that has been scientifically proven to reverse the course of Type 2 Diabetes and prevent its progression. Elkaim says he got the motivation to search out this remedy after watching his father suffer from the disease for a lot of than 5 years. Elkaim now claims that his father is so healthy that ‘you’d never recognize my dad had ever been diagnosed with diabetes,’ thanks in part to ‘this mysterious super starch.’ Defeating Diabetes Kit isn't just about the ‘super starch’ though. It consists of four books particularly:     The Super Starch Solution: This eBook shows you the simplest natural sources of the ‘super starch’ and the way to harness its diabetes-defeating powers. Real value: A ‘grossly underestimated’ total of $27.     A way to Eat to Defeat Diabetes: This forty three-page book contains 14 ‘diabetes-friendly’ recipes, a ‘7-Day Rapid Results Diabetes-Friendly Meal Plan’, an ‘updated’ list of diabetes-friendly foods, supplements and herbs … and therefore the so-called ‘ analysis’ on the $64000 explanation for diabetes that trendy doctors do not understand. Real value of the book: $250.     20 Delicious Diabetes Recipes: This is a separate book that contains 20 ‘no thinking required’, ‘mouthwatering’ recipes that are diabetes friendly. Real price: $seventeen.     Iso Burn ‘No Movement’ Workout: Elkaim claims he personally invented this workout that, consistent with him, is based on ‘isometric coaching’ and will NOT require any movement the least bit. ‘No bending. No twisting.’ You practically keep at one place and burn fat as if you were running a treadmill or doing squats. This program comes in audio and video format. Real worth: $twenty seven. All these books represent the Defeating Diabetes Kit, that you'll be able to get at a 1-time worth of $thirty seven. If you are not proud of the merchandise, you'll request a refund among sixty days of purchase. Therefore What are the Professionals of Defeating Diabetes Kit?     The biggest pro of this program is that its owner, Yuri Elkaim is real and is really who he says he's. You'll easily verify his existence and expertise on nutrition and health … and that i’m confident that he has indeed helped a ton of people in maintaining smart health.     The ‘super starch’ he is talking regarding – which is raw potato starch, btw – has indeed been scientifically proven to be of benefit to those battling Kind a pair of Diabetes. This starch is understood in the medical world as ‘resistant starch’ as a result of it's not digested by the body. Consuming resistant starch exerts its health edges to  Type a pair of diabetics by increasing insulin sensitivity. In other words, resistant starch helps the body to recognize and use insulin. [Precision Nutrition] These two pros alone are the main reasons why Defeating Diabetes Kit is not a scam. HOWEVER… Why Contra Health Scam Will NOT Like Defeating Diabetes Kit 1. Scammy Advertising The primary impression I got when I stumbled on Defeating Diabetes Kit’s pitch page for the primary time was that it absolutely was a scam by an identity thief. This is because the method it's presented appearance no totally different from all the scams already exposed on this blog. Initial of all, I don’t understand why I will’t leave the page in peace if I’m not fascinated by watching the video. Why not add a link to the text version on the video page instead of using a pop-up to block me from leaving before showing me the text version? 2. This Speak Regarding ‘Big Pharma’ Conspiracy. In preference to go on to explaining how his program will help them defeat Diabetes, Elkaim instead decided to scare his potential purchasers by telling them of the harmful effects of the present sort two diabetes medication … a common psychological tactic often used by scammers against people with chronic, life threatening diseases. He even went as way as alleging that pharmaceutical firms don’t care concerning your health as a result of they are public corporations whose stocks are being traded on the Stock Exchange market. Yes, they are crooks in every industry, as well as the health trade. But the reality is that the first issue doctors recommend to sort two diabetes patients is lifestyle and diet changes, NOT medicine! In drugs, medication like Metformin are not seen as 1st line therapy for sort two diabetes, however are rather seen as a last resort treatment for people who cannot maintain adequate diet therapy. three. Insults the Medical Profession Judging from his personal web site and how Defeating Diabetes Kit was presented, Yuri Elkaim loathes doctors. In his website, he says he visited doctors for seven consecutive years over his health issues (autoimmune alopecia, extreme weakness) and all they did to him was to inject his head with medicine. ‘…not a single doctor had any idea of what to do alternative than to inject cortisone directly into my scalp…’ he writes. ‘Not one doctor or “specialist” ever speculated on what would possibly have caused my health issues to start with or what could be done to unravel them…They were more interested in obtaining me on experimental pills and steroid creams or injecting my scalp with who knows what.’ Don’t get me wrong here. It's utterly fine for Elkaim to dislike doctors because of the unpleasant expertise he had with them. However implying that doctors are idiots who recognize nothing about curing health issues other than loading their patients with ‘big pharma’ medication is wrong. It's a slap in the face of the medical community, who work harder than anyone else in the health business to confirm that sick folks are nursed back to health. Is Defeating Diabetes Kit Worth It? Defeating Diabetes Kit is focused on resistant starch, a type of carbohydrate Elkaim claims is ‘rarely mentioned.’ Well kind ‘resistant starch’ on Google and click ‘search’, and you’ll see that ‘resistant starch’ is very well mentioned. Heck, it even features a Wikipedia page! The sources of resistant starch are numerous. Even the white bread you eat has resistant starch. However some foods have more resistant starch than others. Raw potato starch is currently touted as the best source of resistant starch. [Authority Nutrition] Thus if Defeating Diabetes Kit is all concerning telling you about resistant starch, then it's positively not price your money as a result of that information is already everywhere on the web, free of charge. Elkaim apparently knows this, that is why he added the extra books and also the bonus ‘The All-Day Energy Diet Community Diet Cookbook’ to create his provide worth considering. Had it been he didn’t add them, Defeating Diabetes Kit would have been worthless. PONDER ON THIS QUESTION: Why is Yuri Elkaim offering FIVE books supposedly value $368 at simply $thirty seven? Final Recommendation: You'll Strive Defeating Diabetes Kit Check out Defeating Diabetes Because of the very fact that this program has a lot of cons than execs, I will not add it to Contra Health Scam’s Whitelist. Right now it's hanging from a cliff … and solely your feedback can confirm whether it makes it to the Whitelist or be tossed into the dustbin as a scam. So if you've got used Defeating Diabetes Kit, please share your experiences with us in the comments section. Thank you!

This starch is understood in the medical world as ‘resistant starch’ as a result of it's not digested by the body. Consuming resistant starch exerts its health edges to  Kind 2 diabetics by increasing insulin sensitivity. In different words, resistant starch helps the body to acknowledge and use insulin. [Precision Nutrition] These 2 execs alone are the most reasons why Defeating Diabetes Kit is not a scam. HOWEVER… Why Contra Health Scam Will NOT Like Defeating Diabetes Kit one. Scammy Advertising The primary impression I got once I stumbled on Defeating Diabetes Kit’s pitch page for the first time was that it had been a scam by an identity thief. This is as a result of the approach it is presented appearance no different from all the scams already exposed on this blog. It's utterly fine for Elkaim to dislike doctors as a result of of the unpleasant expertise he had with them. However implying that doctors are idiots who recognize nothing about curing health issues but loading their patients with ‘massive pharma’ medication is wrong. It is a slap in the face of the medical community, who work tougher than anyone else in the health business to make sure that sick people are nursed back to health. Is Defeating Diabetes Kit Value It? Defeating Diabetes Kit is targeted on resistant starch, a kind of carbohydrate Elkaim claims is ‘rarely mentioned.’ Well sort ‘resistant starch’ on Google and click ‘search’, and you’ll see that ‘resistant starch’ is terribly well discussed. Is Defeating Diabetes Kit, a program by certified nutritionist and New York Times bestselling author Yuri Elkaim price your cash? Scan this review to the end and see why Contra Health Scam isn't so thrilled regarding this program while it is not a scam! Elkaim claims that his product has the ‘life saving’ data for those littered with Type 2 Diabetes and pre-diabetes. His pitch page basically centers on selling data regarding some ‘super starch’ which has the potential of utterly reversing your Type a pair of Diabetes while not having to require any medicine or insulin shots. But before I go further, lets initial of all verify Elkaim’s identity, shall we? Who is Yuri Elkaim? yuri elkaim defeating diabetes kit review e1466031963619 Defeating Diabetes Kit Review: Is Yuri Elkaims Product Price It? Yuri Elkaim may be a certified Holistic Nutritionist and fitness knowledgeable who has been practicing for concerning thirteen years currently. He holds High Honours degree in Physical Education and Health/Kinesiology from the University of Toronto. He also was a former soccer player but had to quit thanks to unexplained bouts of fatigue and alternative health problems. However through it all, he mustered the energy to train himself to be healthy and match … and for seven years he served because the strength & conditioning/nutrition coach for the University of Toronto men’s soccer team. In line with his Amazon profile, Elkaim has authored ‘over 130’ workout programs. His book All-Day Energy Diet is a New York Times bestseller. He has also been featured in several reputable news retailers like Huffington Post and is a contributor at US News & World Report. He is also the owner and professor of Super Nutrition Academy, a program that claims to supply the ‘essential’ health info that people really need for sensible health. It is from this academy that Defeating Diabetes Kit is being marketed. I can also confirm that he's the owner of the merchandise. What is Defeating Diabetes Kit? Like I earlier stated, Defeating Diabetes Kit is targeted on a ‘super starch’ that has been scientifically proven to reverse the course of Kind two Diabetes and forestall its progression. Elkaim says he got the motivation to find this remedy after watching his father suffer from the disease for a lot of than 5 years. Elkaim now claims that his father is therefore healthy that ‘you’d never recognize my dad had ever been diagnosed with diabetes,’ thanks in half to ‘this mysterious super starch.’ Defeating Diabetes Kit is not just about the ‘super starch’ though. It consists of 4 books specifically:     The Super Starch Solution: This eBook shows you the most effective natural sources of the ‘super starch’ and how to harness its diabetes-defeating powers. Real worth: A ‘grossly underestimated’ sum of $twenty seven.     The way to Eat to Defeat Diabetes: This 43-page book contains 14 ‘diabetes-friendly’ recipes, a ‘7-Day Rapid Results Diabetes-Friendly Meal Plan’, an ‘updated’ list of diabetes-friendly foods, supplements and herbs … and therefore the thus-called ‘ research’ on the real reason for diabetes that modern doctors don't understand. Real price of the book: $250.     twenty Delicious Diabetes Recipes: This is a separate book that contains 20 ‘no thinking needed’, ‘mouthwatering’ recipes that are diabetes friendly. Real worth: $seventeen.     Iso Burn ‘No Movement’ Workout: Elkaim claims he personally invented this workout which, consistent with him, relies on ‘isometric training’ and does NOT need any movement the least bit. ‘No bending. No twisting.’ You practically keep at one place and burn fat as if you were running a treadmill or doing squats. This program comes in audio and video format. Real price: $27. All these books constitute the Defeating Diabetes Kit, which you'll get at a 1-time price of $thirty seven. If you are not pleased with the product, you can request a refund inside sixty days of purchase. Thus What are the Professionals of Defeating Diabetes Kit?     The biggest professional of this program is that its owner, Yuri Elkaim is real and is extremely who he says he is. You can easily verify his existence and experience on nutrition and health … and i’m assured that he has indeed helped a lot of individuals in maintaining good health.     The ‘super starch’ he's talking regarding – that is raw potato starch, btw – has indeed been scientifically proven to be of profit to those battling Type 2 Diabetes. This starch is thought in the medical world as ‘resistant starch’ as a result of it is not digested by the body. Consuming resistant starch exerts its health edges to  Kind a pair of diabetics by increasing insulin sensitivity. In different words, resistant starch helps the body to acknowledge and use insulin. [Precision Nutrition] These two pros alone are the most reasons why Defeating Diabetes Kit is not a scam. HOWEVER… Why Contra Health Scam Does NOT Like Defeating Diabetes Kit 1. Scammy Advertising The first impression I got once I stumbled on Defeating Diabetes Kit’s pitch page for the primary time was that it absolutely was a scam by an identity thief. This is as a result of the means it is presented appearance no totally different from all the scams already exposed on this blog. Initial of all, I don’t understand why I will’t leave the page in peace if I’m not inquisitive about watching the video. Why not add a link to the text version on the video page instead of using a pop-up to block me from leaving before showing me the text version? two. This Talk Concerning ‘Massive Pharma’ Conspiracy. In place of go on to explaining how his program can facilitate them defeat Diabetes, Elkaim instead set to scare his potential purchasers by telling them of the harmful effects of this kind 2 diabetes medicine … a common psychological tactic typically utilized by scammers against folks with chronic, life threatening diseases. He even went as so much as alleging that pharmaceutical companies don’t care concerning your health as a result of they're public companies whose stocks are being traded on the Stock Exchange market. Yes, they're crooks in each business, as well as the health business. But the truth is that the first thing doctors advocate to type 2 diabetes patients is lifestyle and diet changes, NOT drugs! In medication, medication like Metformin are not seen as first line therapy for type 2 diabetes, however are rather seen as a last resort treatment for those that cannot maintain adequate diet therapy. 3. Insults the Medical Profession Judging from his personal web site and how Defeating Diabetes Kit was presented, Yuri Elkaim loathes doctors. In his website, he says he visited doctors for 7 consecutive years over his health issues (autoimmune alopecia, extreme weakness) and all they did to him was to inject his head with drugs. ‘…not one doctor had any plan of what to try and do other than to inject cortisone directly into my scalp…’ he writes. ‘Not one doctor or “specialist” ever speculated as to what would possibly have caused my health issues to begin with or what might be done to resolve them…They were more interested in obtaining me on experimental pills and steroid creams or injecting my scalp with who knows what.’ Don’t get me wrong here. It is utterly fine for Elkaim to dislike doctors as a result of of the unpleasant expertise he had with them. But implying that doctors are idiots who know nothing about curing health problems aside from loading their patients with ‘huge pharma’ medicine is wrong. It is a slap within the face of the medical community, who work harder than anyone else in the health trade to confirm that sick folks are nursed back to health. Is Defeating Diabetes Kit Value It? Defeating Diabetes Kit is targeted on resistant starch, a sort of carbohydrate Elkaim claims is ‘rarely discussed.’ Well sort ‘resistant starch’ on Google and click on ‘search’, and you’ll see that ‘resistant starch’ is terribly well mentioned. Heck, it even includes a Wikipedia page! The sources of resistant starch are various. Even the white bread you eat has resistant starch. But some foods have a lot of resistant starch than others. Raw potato starch is currently touted as the best supply of resistant starch. [Authority Nutrition] Therefore if Defeating Diabetes Kit is all about telling you concerning resistant starch, then it is undoubtedly not price your money as a result of that info is already everywhere on the net, freed from charge. Elkaim apparently is aware of this, that is why he added the extra books and also the bonus ‘The All-Day Energy Diet Community Diet Cookbook’ to create his provide value considering. Had it been he didn’t add them, Defeating Diabetes Kit would have been worthless. PONDER ON THIS QUESTION: Why is Yuri Elkaim providing FIVE books supposedly price $368 at simply $thirty seven? Final Recommendation: You will Strive Defeating Diabetes Kit Check out Defeating Diabetes Because of the fact that this program has a lot of cons than professionals, I will not add it to Contra Health Scam’s Whitelist. Right currently it's hanging from a cliff … and only your feedback will confirm whether it makes it to the Whitelist or be tossed into the dustbin as a scam. Therefore if you have used Defeating Diabetes Kit, please share your experiences with us in the comments section. Thank you!

The shivling climb
radio static, cant get through to no one, it is 3 July, weathers still playing truant. Had snowfall all night and its still clearing in patches yet raining, manoj feels we need to give it two days thendup feels we need to give it one. its been 7 days of bad weather. 2 July, a best friend's Birthday, but I'm on the mountain. The weather cleared briefly at 5 am  and I could get some good pictures but now it's fogged up again at 7. It might make sense to move to camp 2 tomorrow or day after, Swamy's making the move today. Weather is holding out beautifully so far. It's 1019-now. It's 1416 and pouring the skies out. 1619 Still pitter patter rain, the continuing sound of avalanches and rockfalls all around us, though camp 1 is on a ridge and kind of insulated from direct onslaught of rock, ice or snow. The violence with which nature built the Himalayas is brain numbing.
these are the notes of my diary that i refer to, today, as i sit down to pen the challenge we threw ourselves to go adventure into the mighty himalayas yet again.

the mountain of our choice is called shivling and its nestled deep in the heart of uttarakhand, one has to strike base at uttarkashi, this is the last place supplies are possible to secure. then, travel further to gangotri, the air gets thinner as one starts to ascend and on reaching gangotri approx 3200 mtrs the shortness in ones breath is somewhat palpable, but this is the himalaya and one thing forgiving about being at lower latitudes is that there’s tree cover all the way upto 5000 mtrs in places, which means richer air and more oxygen to breathe as trees respire and we have it easier.

we chose shivling for that challenge that it presents, and how its tested us is the story we will live to tell for many many years.

shivling has several exposed faces and each presents a bigger quandary than the other, we are choosing to stick to the conventional route, yet here too it would mean roping up approximately 2 kilometres of the mountain, a formidable challenge. Thendup our lead sherpa has climbed the mountain thrice, he set’s himself about trying to measure up the job at hand. we are five of us, manoj a seasoned climber in the himalayas with several summits to his credit is on the job leading the charge. swamy my mate out of solo climbs in aconcagua and denali, pritam a rookie climber from bangalore but with excellent fitness levels and Jitu a paratrooper, ex airforce officer and my diving buddy.
organising an effort as monumental as this needs visioning things a little differently. it helps to have people who understand all the effort going in to what we know as becoming the mountain as also, to contribute wherever we fall short in every which way.

we reach gangotri on the 18th, buy everybody lunch as everybody has just arrived and begin to pack the loads for the porters to carry until base camp also known as tapovan at 4100 meters. on 19th manoj, the sherpas, 9 in the team, 2 cooks and a runner, the porters 35 of them with almost 700 kilos of load distributed among everybody. leave for tapovan.

a day later. some porters decide to bolt on reaching the glacier after gaumukh, the origin of the ganges. i wouldn't blame them totally, but they shouldn't have taken on something they were well, not prepared for. gangotri and bhagirathi glacier. the route to tapovan. its a huge minefield of lateral moraine. until the eye can see, the glacier is a huge moving river of ice, snow, sand, rocks and large boulders the size of buildings. a wrong step can mean certain injury, with some possibility, death. exposed ridges where bottomless crevasses yawn and creak underfoot. fast flowing ice cold water, tears into the seams of the loose soil and snow. the fear multiplies, faced with this and then the climb over the looming steep cliffs overhanging from tapovan. some get cold feet. before reaching the meadow bugyal and safety. they dumped their loads in piecemeal, fear got the better of them. some did it on the gangotri glacier, some on the waterfall leading to tapovan and scurried off. the mountain has begun testing us. one among them, leaves a can of kerosene on the jagged edge of the waterfall, imagine the pollution it would cause were it to tip. but, such are the vagaries of mountaineering in india. manoj rallies forces and gets the balance folk to turnaround and go back to the debris plain of the waterfall and the glacier. he picks up the leftover loads and then chooses to move all loads found minus 9 porter hands who have bolted, to the next camp. more risk and exposure but what are you to do, the mountain demands it from you. you acquiesce.

missing porters, mean approximately 300 kilos of load, most of it food and fuel, including a gas cylinder get left over at the base camp in tapovan. they pitch a tent, make stashes of the loads, 100 kilos of grain, flour, fuel and the gas cylinder, fresh fruit and vegetables. all of which gets left back at base camp. everybody moves to the next camp, but more surprises are in store. the porters are supposed to place all their loads in the next camp across the glacier on the ridge of the mountain also known as camp 1 but choose to dump all their loads 2 hours onto the route and take off back to gangotri. they follow their brothers in being cowards, they who have set low benchmarks for everybody. arguments follow, but since the standards set are as low as not even reaching base camp, (tapovan) in the first place. Escape is better than exposure. victory was never going to be the consideration, a paid mercenary after all fights for himself first, over any other cause.

The daunting lateral moraine plains and glaciers haven't been covered yet, we are on the mountain but we aren't on the ridge leading to the summit camp. from there, is where we have 2 kilometres of rope to fix. but well, the mountain tests us again. manoj, pritam and the sherpas are forced to accept the raw deal dished out to them. they make peace with the circumstances being what they are. so, with half the load at tapovan and another half, an hour above, its now implied the sherpa teams and the climbers will have to pull what they can to make the move from the glacier field to camp 1. the good part is the weather has been on our side so far and we have resources aplenty to last us a really long while. even if we were to remain stranded here for months, we would survive. we are armed to the teeth with gear, ropes, food, tents and fuel. there’s no stopping us but in mountaineering they say, always expect the unexpected. the porters did the number this time on us. This, after they were paid heavily in advance with the expectation that they would see us through to the beginning of the place where we hang from ropes as we jumar our way upwards. perhaps, a miracle is yet to happen.

7 porters choose to remain and make the effort to see the team onto camp 1, with what load they were supposed to ferry for one trip. whatever that means. the sherpas, manoj and pritam run load ferries and while we (swamy, me and jitu) reach tapovan camp around the 21st. they have moved a sizeable load of gear up to camp 1. especially, the rope.

those porters leave too and when we reach we find base camp fully stocked but empty.

a horror story of how things aren't unfolding the way they should isn't told, while a slight cold mountain drizzle signals that we may well be running out of the best weather we have had in days and days. we exchange quizzical glances and know we have to keep on climbing. after all, a mountain is only worth what the climb is or becomes.

one of the cooks remains with me at base camp and on my part i organise another 10 hands as we luck out, an NCC expedition to baby shivling is in the neighbourhood and us feeding their porters dinner and breakfast gets them warm and willing to help us move more load upstairs to the interim camp. more money gets spent but hey whoever said climbing shivling was going to be easy. the zen you realise on the mountain is the zen you carry in your head but climbing the mountain, getting there, aint exactly cheap.

after several tests of fortitude, we move the gas cylinder and several essentials upto interim camp, while we watch the rain and the weather get the better of fresh fruits and vegetables, eventually we feed the fresh food and fruit to the birds as letting it spoil would be allowing for a criminal waste of resources. we let the birds feed on that which the humans cant afford to carry. e e cummings comes to mind - nothing we can perceive in this world equals the fragility of life, in all its forms, rendering death and forever in each breath. now we are alive, now we are not. climb on climb on…
a long effort and two more spells of carries later, we find ourselves all together at interim camp. its 24 June, manoj and pritam are making the move to camp 1. the rain begins to fall. its slowly taking over the mountain and the visibility is almost next to nothing. 25th we stay put watching the rain. we call off moving on the 26th too.

a day in the rain later it seems like its clearing up somewhat and we make the move to camp one on the day that follows. 27 July, we are carrying with us fresh vegetables, essentials and more goodies such as chocolates, summit food and more gear. everybody is in good spirits as communication links are up and running, throughout the mountain and everybody is well fed, rested, acclimatised and strong for climbing. swamy’s oxidation readings are still a worry but i’m guessing he will be ok soon.

we reach camp one as Manoj, Pritam and the sherpas make a bid for camp 2 on the summit ridge. the next camp, camp 3 will be below the hanging glacier and then once we fix rope up throughout the route, we will make a summit attempt weather permitting.

life looks like its finally begun to turn our way and thats when the weather turns yet again. its pouring down in sheets now. and suddenly our life just shuts very beautifully as the skies begin to descend snow on us. one has to set out carefully now as the snow has formed bridges between rocks everywhere and its risky and beautiful in its starkness.

swamy has gone down to interim camp, to acclimatise some more, he makes it back on the 28th, its a white out and visibility conditions are next to zero. we are worried as one wrong step and its ashes. swamy makes it to camp to everybody's relief. he follows this up with several repeat instances, but i guess i’ll leave that for a ‘swam-specific’ story another day.

As we keep getting hammered by bad weather, people are making their smaller and ever smaller bids to traverse up further from where they are. swamy has tried once to crawl up to camp 2 and come back. he loses his way back and we illuminate our tents to have him use us as a beacon to find his way back down the treacherous slopes back to camp 1. Manoj tries to climb up to camp 3 with loads, Pritam makes an attempt to follow, the rope however hasn't been fixed and their effort is short-lived. they have to wait patiently while the rope gets fixed by the sherpas and exposure reduces.

Thendup comes down to visit me in camp 1 on 1st July. he doesn't bring good tidings. he says the hanging glacier is falling apart. we might not be able to fix rope on that. The mountain seems angrier than us. true to his word, there is an avalanche that night and a large part of the glacier cracks and rolls down the cliff side. safely we are out of the line of the falling glaciers fury. we creep out of our tents in the small hours of the inky black night with the snow carefully descending around us. we watch the glacier crash down the mountain slopes, in swathes of avalanches. we bear mute testimony to the tests the mountain subjects us to. what are we to do, we don't know up from down anymore. it refuses to stop snowing, raining and avalanching. where are we, who are we, what are we doing here ?

swamy sets fire to the rain and chooses to keep on climbing, manoj and pritam do the same. they keep going onwards to camp 3. miraculously the weather clears. it makes me feel like i’m making a mistake by choosing to go downwards as I don't want Jitu to feel alone, he has had it really hard poor chap. its his first duel with such bad weather and staying stuck in a tent for weeks at a go. its a bright sunny day as we begin to walk down to the interim camp and reach there before noon, i pamper myself with a bath, a change of clothes does feel good. its the 4th of july, a nap in the warm sunshine later, the weather turns again. as i watch it pour my thoughts go out to my buddies on top. they made it to camp 3 ok, but then they saw a huge crack in the glacier, the same one i’d been observing from camp 1. the same thing thats been avalanching ever since, its a slippery slope and an even more broken mountain. as they are piecing together a strategy, we try to touch the shaking rock around us to make us feel whole and rooted.

on 5 july, we all realise we couldn't have done any better, this far and no further. thats all the mountain is going to allow. manoj, swamy, pritam and the sherpa team begin to descend and unroping the mountain begins in earnest. i am left with the responsibility of going back down the mountain and ferrying back porters so that the logistics of support on the way back is sorted to the degree of no failure. after all its not the same thing now. the games over.

we are responsible mountaineers and we must clear the mountain of all our remains. theres always a side to the mountain that one never knows about, its a game after all and its a game in which mother nature always wins. all the things we ask of ourselves fall short of what we think we could do but weren't good enough to deliver. finally the skies fall again upon us and the pitter patter of the constant showers are back again. its the 6th of july and we have reached cheerbasa half way to gangotri. its dark again and i’m finished with my effort at making the mountain meld to my ways. its so damn hard to have given so much of ourselves and yet have that feeling that we couldn't really get anywhere. the tears begin to flow and no not even the rain has such small hands. the emotions pass and i gather myself for the walk and reorganisation ahead of me.

we reached gangotri the next day, on the 7th. manoj, swamy and pritam reach on 10th July. what a run we’ve had. what an adventure and thankfully we are all alive to tell the story. another story of our lives. another helluva climb.
