ok i'll attempt to engage with this in good faith- it is really strange to watch twitter people come in and act like ranboo himself is responsible for the racism in his community. that's what's setting people off here. i think your reblog is the most blatant yet, calling it a mistake that he needs to learn from- what has he, personally, done? aside from listen to the community and do his best to address the issue, and accept criticism even when it's subjective. like we can agree racism is bad and there should be less of it, and we can also agree that ranboo speaking up about it is a good thing, but what gets people bothered is twitter users insisting on a specific correct way to do things, which is not something unreasonable to disagree on. it gets to a point where the nitpicking is no longer about improving racism, but about policing the message of anti-racism until it becomes performative nonsense from all parties involved.
so that is why there's pushback. we feel as though people from twitter are coming here to demand very specific things that will not result in any change, that they have made up and decided will solve the problem. but those things will not solve the problem, and will only cause their own problems, by further diluting the discussion away from racism and towards more pointless infighting.
i know it will be tempting to laugh this off, but i really do hope you will take some time to think about it- i dont want to start a fight, by sending this. i actually want this to be resolved. racism is not being defeated by this constant back and forth. we should all be on the same team.
i think ranboo did most things well during the stream, however the way it was handled was more like a spur of the moment thing- which it probably was. not only that, but the phrasing of him finding the way his community is perceived rather than the safety BIPOC have in his community more important was just.. bad.
there’s also the promoting before addressing the situation, and then always saying “i don’t know how to deal with this”. racism is very rampant on HIS community, he has to deal with it because it’s HIS.
BIPOC chiming in to give him advice on how to address the situation aren’t bad people, and telling those people that they’re wrong/bad for doing so is rude- you can’t police how these people feel especially if they’re the ones affected by ranboos community.(which is obvious on twitter, but is also happening on discord and other places)
ranboo has done this four times, saying “just don’t be racist” obviously isn’t working and is like a slap on the wrist in the grand scheme of things.
yes the change has to come from the community itself but they have to push that change. they have to show why it’s wrong, why it hurts, and why it needs to stop.
i agree some things are a bit nitpicky, bc i do think there’s only so much he can do, but it doesn’t hurt to at least try ig. idk!!

I think we as a fandom need to have more talks about ✨dramatic✨ Jason running his own AO3 blog where he posts increasingly violent and heart wrenching stories about Robin. (The second Robin. Because he’s absolutely self inserting.)
And the Batfam find out about those fic that have a startlingly detailed layout of the batcave and accurate patrol routes that they choose to investigate (by reading the fics, duh) and growing increasingly upset about how the characters are portrayed.
Especially Robin.

I just want to point out: the twins hesitate to leap deeper into the darkness to save Azul, not because they fear for their own safety, but because they trust Azul to handle himself.
When the darkness tries to swallow Azul a second time, the twins have no issue letting him fall, allowing him to freely confront his deepest, darkest self. Alone.
“What did I tell you?” Floyd says in the end. “Leave Azul alone and he’ll figure out how to fend for himself.”
See, for the twins, there’s a reason Azul leads Octavinelle. There’s a reason he’s their Housewarden. There’s a reason they grew legs and followed him on land.
Azul embodies Octavinelle’s spirit of independence—of always taking responsibility for one’s actions, no matter the consequence. He overcame this darkness before, on his own terms, with his own set prices. He can and he will do it again. Distrusting Azul’s process would mean, in effect, distrusting themselves.
So while the twins’ approach might seem cruel and cold to the rest of the dream hopping crew, the truth remains as it’s always been: the trio’s relationship operates on trust—on the understanding that even in the ocean’s darkest depths, neither one of them needs to tell the other how to glow.
Azul is stubborn. Azul is resourceful. Azul is Azul. And nobody knows that better than Jade and Floyd.

I’m a simple soul
I see a hot blooded trauma fueled man with an ego and daddy issues become an unwilling single mother who then steps up after multiple trials and errors to grow into a proper parent that fights tooth and nail for his daughter AND face said daddy issues head on for the betterment of his child thus reconciling and healing his own relationship with his father and bringing an enthusiastic grandpa into the mix
and I crumble

The news about Rhaena/Nettles legit managed to erode all the excitement I had about season two during the past few weeks in a matter of seconds.
Nettles is canonically the only non-Targ dragonrider, her story and arc is so important in challenging the beliefs about dragons and Targaryens and blood magic incest that exist in Westeros and among the Targaryens, why would the writers look at such a character and decided to mesh her storyline with Rhaena’s?? Are they just so uncreative they couldn’t figure out something for Rhaena to do in the Vale?? Or can this show only handle no more than three black characters, all the while they continue on cooking up new storylines and arcs for the white characters that don’t exist in the book??

The Helena diaz of it all has me fascinated. I’ve said for a long while that Eddie’s real issues are his mommy issues and this episode just cemented for me that we’re gonna explore that and deal with it.
Because it’s Helena who forced Eddie to grow up to fast - because her husband wasn’t around much - so she pushed Eddie into de facto parent and husband role ls - selfishly filling her needs and ignoring the damage it was doing to her son (it is a form of abuse in my book).
Eddie then had the audacity to fall in love with and marry Shannon and get her pregnant. It’s why Helena was always so off with Shannon - she was punishing her. She is also punishing Eddie for all of this and his refusal to return to El Paso only cemented further her bitterness and resentment.
Now she does have Ramon back she doesn’t need Eddie any longer to fill that role so she is still punishing him and part of that is tied into her glee over now getting to parent Christopher - something she has always been intent on doing the doppelgänger just gave her the opportunity- as well as allowing her to further punish her son and his love of Shannon.
Her barbed comments about building a pool were all about showing what she can provide Christopher - how she is parenting him better than Eddie - it’s part of her mind games - making Eddie feel like more of a failure as a parent to his son.
The reality of course is that the reverse is true - Helena’s parenting is all superficial, flash and showy - it isn’t the hard day to day parenting when things get tough and you have to be the bad guy. While Eddie has made mistakes, there is nothing superficial, flash, or showy about his parenting. It’s why bucks comments about Eddie being a great dad are so important.
Eddie feel like a failure right now and that he is entirely to blame for everything. But in reality, while he does bear a bit of the responsibility, the truth of the matter is that he needs to learn and deal with the fact that all of it actually stems from Helena and her abuse of her young son - Shannon never stood a chance just like Eddie never has.
#genuinely don’t see how she can get any sort of redemption arc#but this is 911 so maybe they’ll find a way 🤷🏻‍♀️#Helena’s treatment of Eddie is a form of child abuse - it has done so much damage to him psychologically#I do really hope we finally get to meet Sophia and adriana as part of this arc beciase I think it might be very revealing#I am also wondering if Ramon had a stache in the past - and that is what Eddie is subconsciously trying to mimic#and that is about him trying to regain his mothers affection - trying to fill that husband role she forced him into#and that shaving it off is a part of his dealing with that and choosing to free himself from her clutches#and in doing that - standing up for himself etc - it will be the trigger that v ring schristopher back#the catholic guilt and Eddie’s queerness is also all tied up in this - the church reinforces and condones Helena and her actions#the Catholic Church has a long history of abuse of children in all it’s horrendous forms#so Eddie seeking solace in that direction think it will help him find away back to Helena’s good books only for it to open a few doors he#has bolted shut#as for the queer aspect - forcing Eddie to grow up too fast and fill this role of husband to his mother and parent to his siblings means#Eddie never got the chance to learn who he actually is - to explore his sexuality and all that goes with that - at the age one normally#would - as a teenager and into your 20’s. it explains so much around his relationship with Shannon and dealing with the helana of it all#and the queerness of his identity - will also allow him to actually let Shannon go#Eddie’s arc is going to be incredible - heartbreaking and gut wrenching - but incredible#Helena diaz it’s on sight - she is evil and cannot be redeemed in my eyes!#911 spoilers#Thinky thoughts#eddie diaz#911 abc
