There was a time in Cal’s life where he’d been repulsed by touch. He’d pull away, flinch, tense, even a hug from someone he trusted felt wrong. And at some point, he started to crave it. Touch. The sensation of being held, of being cradled, of being loved and wanted. It came so easy to others. But to him? It was such a struggle. Until Bode. Casual intimacy became second nature with him. A pat on the shoulder, a grasped handshake, a tap on his bicep. He never tensed, he never flinched. And those cravings grew stronger. Unbearable. How could anyone live with the aching agony of needing to be physically close to someone? Cal could barely contain himself. The night brought low conversations, cigarra smoke, strong drinks, loud music, and a moment. A moment for him to be the first one to reach out to initiate that touch he yearned for. Like the whole town being dissapointed that this TEENAGER didn't die at the end of DoB, his supposed friends all calling him an eternal failure loser in Darkest Night, him getting knocked out and the twins (and Hookfang) just being fully willing to let him fall to his death during Living on the Edge, everyone not being bothered enough to save him when he’s in mortal danger during Snotlout Angels and just getting dragged around and tortured during Bad Moon Rising (i can't get over how bizarre that episode was man) as punishment for fucking with Tuffnut, when the twins did the EXACT SAME THING to Snotlout when he thought he was going to die during the DoB Gustsv episode, it’s not like they got thrown in the carmic meat grinder for that

I could keep going on for a while, not to mention the way everyone is just casually shitty to him on a day-to-day basis, like i get that he’s the butt-monkey of the series and that he can be annoying but the treatment he gets is always so out of proportion compared to what he’s getting up to he’s just a silly little guy leave him alone 😔
