“Trust me Sirius, you will regret this,” Regulus whispered in his brother’s ears as everyone around them cheered for the next game. 

“I’m your big brother, I will never regret embarrassing you.” Sirius took Regulus by the shoulders and made him sit on a chair in the middle of the circle. It was the first party where both Sirius’ group of friends and Regulus’ were hanging out, it was Dorcas and Marlene’s idea now that they were dating. 

“The game is really easy, you take a drop of veritaserum, and someone gets to ask a question. Got it?” Everyone around the room hummed in confirmation as Regulus drank his dose of the potion. His eyes met James’ across the room, his boyfriend tried to conceal his nervousness with a smile. If their friends were smarter, Regulus was sure they would’ve picked up on their relationship by now, without the need of a veritaserum. 

First, they went through the normal round of questions just to make sure that the potion was working. No more than three questions in and Sirius decided it was time for the actual fun.

“Do I actually embarrass you, Reggie?” Sirius teased, but he was clearly eager for the answer. 

“No, you’re my favorite person and I love you.” A round of loud ‘awwws’ echoed in the room. “Oh shut up, and just ask another question,” Regulus blurted out. 

He immediately regretted it as he saw Barty’s mind clearly plotting something. 

“Okay, I have one. Dear Regulus, would you be so kind as to rank your best kisses?”

“Ew! NO!” Sirius quickly protested. 

From the corner of his eye, Regulus could tell how the question made James' heart race. This was not how they had planned to tell everyone they were dating. 

“Shhh! I want to know,” Remus insisted.

“I don’t! Knowing you two kissed when you did perfect rounds together is all the information I need about the matter!” Sirius was hysterical. 

“Just answer the question Reg, start with the third place,” Barty instructed. 

Regulus tried to fight the truth, this truly was the last way he wanted his brother and friends to know he had been dating Gryffindor’s golden boy. He once again searched for James’ eyes, and James was already looking at him, so lovingly. His boyfriend mouthed the words ‘it’s okay’, so Regulus took a deep breath and answered. 

“Fine. Third place would be Evan.”

“Quite the kisser you are too, love.” Evan blew him a kiss in response and everyone started laughing and commenting. 

“Shhh, I want to know who is in second place,” Dorcas intercepted. 

“Sirius, don’t hate me,” Regulus said as he closed his eyes and fought once more the words that were about to come out. “Second one is Rem-”

“I’M LEAVING!” Sirius announced loudly as he got up. 

“Sirius, don’t be dramatic, don’t you want to know who is actually first?” Remus said, trying to distract him. 

“Don’t worry, it’s me,” Barty said with an immense amount of confidence. 

“Ugh, it couldn’t get worse I guess,” Sirius mumbled as he sat on Remus’ lap. “If you say James I will fucking kill you, Regulus.”

Regulus' eyes widened and a violent blush crept from his neck towards his cheeks, without thinking he snapped his head towards James who was the same shade of crimson as him. Fuck. His reaction had been too noticeable. Everyone around had caught it, especially Sirius. 

“Regulus! Say right now that James does not have the first place in your fucking kissing list!”

Silence. 

“He does…”

The room erupted in a million loud voices laughing, screaming and questions aimed at both him and James. 

When did this happen!?

Regulus began feeling dizzy and overwhelmed, he got up the chair to try to breathe but felt his legs falter. He felt familiar hands, calloused hands, warm hands steady him. James.

“It’s okay, baby,” James assured him as his arms wrapped around Regulus’ waist. 

James’ voice brought him back to reality, he saw Sirius approaching and couldn’t help the words that left his mouth with a laugh, “I told you so.”

This might get super long + I’ll throw some nsfw in there for fun:

- Remus wasn’t around as much as James was growing up but when he was, little regulus would always stare at him and he never knew why

- he was pretty average looking but there was something there that regulus liked

- and as they grew up, and he transitioned and came out, reg realised it’s because Remus is just a nice fucking guy

In the grand scheme of things, James’ summer break has been pretty good so far. It was a bit of a rocky start with Sirius and Regulus showing up at their doorstep battered and bloody and hanging half onto consciousness. But after the two of them were healed up and got used to living in the Potter mansion, they started living a bit easier. Sirius and James have had a wonderful time fucking around and Regulus has been slowly opening up more and more with all of them, gradually getting more comfortable with sharing a space with Monty and Effie.

And James and Regulus have been hanging out more often, which James is more than happy about; they’ve had the biggest crush on Regulus since third year, sue them for wanting to spend more time around him -- and being thrilled that the younger is finally opening up to him. 

So far, James’ summer is going pretty good. Until one day, Sirius asks James to grab something from his closet for him and James does so, not thinking anything of it. Then, as they’re looking for what Sirius asked for, Regulus gets thrown into the closet and the door is slammed behind the younger boy, the click of a lock following shortly after. 

“What the fuck are you doing, Sirius?” Regulus shouts through the door. 

“I’m fucking sick of you two being in denial,” Sirius shouts back, “You’re not leaving until you figure your shit out and get together. Just don’t have sex in my closet!” “But that’s the best place to have sex.” James calls back, laughing at the scandalised scoff that Sirius lets out before they finally come to terms with the situation. They level their gaze onto Regulus, meeting his steely eyes, “Wait, what did he mean get together?”

And those beautiful steel eyes roll, “Fucking obviously, James.”

“Wait, you like me?”

“It might just be a bit more than ‘liking’ you,” Regulus sneers, “I’ve been wanting to date you for years.”

James takes a second to respond, trying to reboot their brain, “Actually? Like you’re not just messing with me?”

“No, James, I’m not messing with you.” He sneers, though his demeanor slowly getting less and less defensive, “And I’m assuming, from what Sirius said, that you fancy me back?”

The older clears their throat, scanning over Regulus’ face, “Yeah… yeah, I do. I have for a while now.”

“Look at that, I like you, you like me. Now you agree to go on a date with me and we make out in Sirius’ closet to spite his entire being.” Regulus hums and James nods dumbly, willing to go along with whatever plan Regulus makes if he says them like that. Regulus grins at them before pulling them to him by their shirt in order to kiss them, which James is more than happy to push back with just as much fervor as Regulus. 

“Gross!” Sirius shouts when he throws the closet door open several minutes later, figuring that their silence is either incredibly good or incredibly bad, only to see James pinning Regulus against a wall.

When they pull away, Regulus meets Sirius’ gaze, lips spit slick and cheeks bright red, “It’s your fault.” And with that, he stalks out of the closet, beckoning James. And they follow him.

Sirius laughs at them, “Walk them like a dog, Reg.” 

“I was planning on it.” And with that, he’s out of the room with James on his tail.

"Why don't you give me a chance? Even to be friends?!"

Regulus turned around and walked towards the source of the noise. He knew that voice very well.

"I hate you, Potter!"

Seemed like Black's crush was getting rejected again. Part of him was sad for his brother's best friend, another, more selfish side of him, was relieved.

"Why?! What did I ever do to you? I know I was a prick to Snape sometimes-"

"You're a bully!"

"I'm not a bully! Snape isn't stupid, nor weak, nor innocent. He does the exact same thing we did to him! He's not a victim." He wasn't wrong, to be a bully meant it was one-sided. Snape and Potter were more like mortal enemies.

"Even then, you're still a rich, obnoxious, arrogant, selfish prat who doesn't shut up about himself! You're so bloody conceited!"

That hit. He could see the hurt in those dark brown eyes. People didn't know the effort the tanned skinned boy put into helping others, making sure everyone is happy, included, safe. He could have all eyes on him yet no one noticed. Except Reg. He noticed James.

"That's not true." The pair turned to him in surprise, pale hands becoming fidgety with the sudden notion of being watched. He kind of regretted speaking up.

"James doesn't talk about himself. Yes, he's sometimes a bit obnoxious and loud, and he does talk a lot but it's never centered around himself. You're getting confused with my brother, Evans."

"Oh, please. Those two are the same. You're not in Gryffindor, you don't hear them all the time." Right, but he did hear from the boy in private. In their late night talks that started after Sirius ran away. Because James didn't want Reg to feel alone. He noticed. He cared. He helped.

"What does he say then? About himself. Not about his friends. Or the stupid pranks they all pull." He dragged the word 'all', making it a point that it didn't count.

"Do you know his favourite colour? Favourite animal? Favourite classes and professors? His grades? How many people he's dated? Anything about his home life? His life goals and dreams?" It was too late to back out, the rant had begun, and you bet Blacks finish what they start.

"Because I don't think so. He might talk a shit lot, but it's about his group plans, his friends, making jokes, making others laugh when feeling like shit as so many do nowadays," himself included. "It takes a lot to get him to talk about himself as an individual, actually. You would know if you gave him a chance. But for someone so against judgemental people, you really do focus on his appearance." Green eyes wide, pink lips shut tight. Regulus contained his smirk.

"He's a good person. A great friend. Selfless and caring despite being from an old pureblood family. And he fights for what he thinks is right. He fights for others. With his big personality comes a big heart. So if you don't make space for the love he has to offer just because you think you don't believe he has it in him, he's not the conceited one." Red hair nearly flew with Lily's stormed exit. She hadn't liked their interaction in the slightest. It was better that way. She wasn't deserving.

Piercing dark eyes were burning a whole through black curls. Reg avoided James's gaze, afraid of what he'd say. He only faced him when he felt the boy closer, and he could swear Potter's eyes were sparkling.

"You meant that...?"

"Of course. You care so much about everyone else that you forget yourself. You couldn't tell me what you wanted to do in the future because it would depend on what your friends decided to do with their lives. You're the most selfless person I know, and if she thinks otherwise, she doesn't deserve your love or friendship."

Silence. He really wanted the older boy to say something, but he just stared, lips slightly parted. Icy blue eyes looked away, shoulders tensing from the attention.

Warm strong arms surrounded his small figure, nearly making him halt. But Potter's sweet, intoxicating smell had him relax and melt in his arms, wrapping his much slimmer ones around his tanned waist.

"Thanks, Reggie." His heart skipped a beat at the nickname and he hoped James didn't feel it against his own chest. He was also thankful to have his face covered, absolutely certain that his white cheeks had turned fully pink.

May 25, 1978 2pm:

  Regulus’ coin glowed warm just as he was dozing off in History of Magic. A portable sun in his pocket. Glad of the distraction, he casually pulled the coin out and started playing with it like he was stimming. He glanced around the room. No one was looking. The coin read,

  “I got you a surprise! 

  Can you come on an 

   adventure tonight?”

  Reg felt his heart rate pick up. An adventure with James Potter could mean anything from earning a month of detention pulling a prank, to playing with a roomful of puppies, to getting wasted out of bounds. It wasn't hard to re-etch the coin unobtrusively, you just needed to form the full message clearly in your mind as you cast the spell silently. And hold your wand so it’s not obvious. And cough or otherwise make a little noise to cover the scratching for the moment it takes. Ok, it’s a little bit hard. He wouldn’t have trusted everyone with one but he’d made one for James and Pandora. Bats and Rosie would be hurt if they knew. He had them carefully marked to prevent sexting Panda by accident but he always triple checked if he sent anything scandalous. 

  “What kind of adventure?”

         “It’s a surprise!

            Trust me?”

It took nearly ten min for Reg to respond.

  “time/place?”

 

 “One eyed witch statue

      3rd floor, east wing

                10pm”

This was not a good idea.

10pm:

  “Psst,” hissed the stone witch

  “James?” Reg whispered, looking around. A grinning curly head ducked out from behind the statue and Regulus slipped in next to him quietly. “What are we doing here?” he hissed

  “Look what I managed to nick from Slughorn's office this morning,” James said conspiratorially, and he pulled out a small paper bag with a few strands of some kind of seaweed.

  “You nicked gillyweed. Why did you nick gillyweed?”

  “Thought it might be fun for a prank but now I have a much better idea,” James said confidently, keeping his voice down

  “What, are we going to go play with the giant squid?” Regulus whispered sarcastically.

James winked at him, “Almost. But let's get out of the open,” he said. He tapped the witch saying, “Dissendium,” and the back of the statue slid open revealing a narrow doorway and steep stone stairs. James made a dramatic and overly polite gesture for Reg to proceed him.

  “And where does that go?” Reg eyed James and the dark passageway, considering.

  “Find out?” and James is grinning

Reg hesitates but they are already out after hours. Fuck it. He climbs into the narrow entrance and goes down a few stairs before turning to James who slipped in behind him and was standing very close when the door slid closed. They were in total darkness for a moment before they both lit their wands

  “How far down does this go?”

  “40 feet? Maybe 50?”

  “And then?”

  “Adventure”

  “You’re impossible,” Reg grumped but he went down anyway. As they descended, the walls got damp and slimy. “Where are we going, Potter?” Reg asks darkly when they’re about halfway down

  “Well I know you like art galleries. Have you ever been to an aquarium?”

  “There’s one in the little muggle city near the Scotland manor. It’s alright. What does that have to do...with...gilly...weed?” Reg trails off, hoping this wasn’t going where he thinks it might be going.

  “Well I know of a really impressive one!” James is nearly bouncing, he's so excited. He takes Regulus’s hand as the passage levels out, playing with his fingers.

  “It’s 10pm Potter. Any aquarium is going to be closed on a Thursday”

  “I know”

  “And we aren’t allowed to go sightseeing in the muggle world during term”

  “We certainly are not”

  “And we can’t aparate out of Hogwarts”

  “No we can’t,” James says cheerfully. It was getting a bit annoying actually.

  “Where are we bloody going James?”

  “Hogsmeade!” James crows, as if that explains everything

  “You don’t actually have a plan at all do you?” Reg suggests flatly. Not that he minded just being here. In a smelly underground tunnel after hours. He probably should mind.

  “Of course I do! I put work into this!”

  “You came up with this idea 8 hours ago”

  “And I’ve put 8 hours of research and planning and supply acquisition into it since then!”

  “Hmmm,” Reg muttered noncommittally. 

  They walked in silence for a few min.

  Reg sighed. “What are we doing in Hogsmeade with gillyweed?”

  “Aparating to Rostock”

  “Rostock. In Germany,” Regulus said flatly.

  “In Germany,” James says happily

  “I should probably learn to just go with your harebrained schemes, shouldn’t I?”

  “Probably, yes”

  “I don’t know how to get to Rostock,” Regulus points out, a half-assed excuse.

  “And I will side-along you. You trust me, don’t you?”

  “To aparate me across the continent in the middle of the night when you won’t explain what we’re doing?” James just smiles and Reg softens, against his better judgement. “....I can’t believe I’m doing this,” but the corners of his mouth were twitching and his heart pounded at the idea of running away with James in the middle of the night. 

  “You know, Remus said that all the time in 1st year,” James tossed out as he turned to face Reg. They stopped at the bottom of another slimy narrow stairway. “Ready?” and he started to put his arms around the smaller boy, hesitating before actually touching him. Regulus took a deep breath, looking into James’ sparkling hazel eyes and nodded. James could have just taken his hand but he enveloped Regulus in his arms, wrapping him close and safe as he spun them into the suffocating darkness.

Lay All Your Love On Me – Jegulus

summary: regulus gets drunk at a party and confess his feelings to james at a karaoke

warnings: underage driking, sexual talk and mentions of sex (but no actual sex). i guess that's all

notes: just a random thought i had while listening to abba and got carried away. as always, sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language and i hope you like it :)

Regulus was not happy to be present at a Gryffindor party, to be honest there were methods of torture he would enjoy more. Being surrounded by happy and loud people was like living hell but if there's one thing Regulus would do, it was walk through hell for those he loved, so there he was: at a noisy and sweaty Gryffindor party, because Dorcas asked him to.

There were not a lot of people who he loved, but Dorcas Meadowes was certainly one of them. She had been dating Marlene for a while now and thought it was a good idea to bring their groups together, so now they all had to go to the same idiot party, because apparently it was a really fun idea. Regulus couldn't disagree more, infact, it took a really long time for her, Barty and Evan to convince him of going, but again, he would do a lot for his friends so eventually he said yes.

"Think about the pros of being here, Reg" Dorcas said to him "You can watch James for a whole night or maybe more than just watch this time"

"I really hate that I told you about that" he rolled his eyes as if his crush weren't obvious for everyone who knew him.

"Stop being so grumpy" she protest while grabbing his arms "C'mon, let's get you a drink"

"Fine, guess I'll need it to survive this night anyway" Regulus followed her.

He was already on his third drink when he decided to lean against the wall to avoid being so surrounded by the amount of people who seemed to not know what personal space was. He knew it was a party, but do people really need to be that close to each other?

And that was when their eyes met.

James was charming, to say the least, because Regulus thought much more of him. He thought about the way those stupid Gryffindor colors seemed to light James' skin or about the way he desperately wanted to crave his fingers on his strong arms or how it felt to kiss his lips. There was so much Regulus thought about doing with James that he even felt ridiculous about it.

Sure, he knew James was always full of himself and acting like he was a damn king, which was kind of annoying sometimes but oh...to Regulus he really was a king and how he would give to be ruled by him.

"You know..." Barty started saying, catching Regulus, who didn't even noticed when he got there, by surprise "you don't need to just keep staring"

"I don't know what you're talking about"

"We are all friends now and well, you and Potter had already talked a lot of times"

It was almost funny to him how his friends thought this was simple, sure they talked a few times but it was just some casual chatting because Regulus knew how to be polite when he wanted to and they were all really trying to have a good relationship so that’s not like he was going to ignore James when they bumped into each other but it was not that easy, what was he supposed to do? Go out there and simply declare he was obsessed with the idea of kissing him?

"I'm not talking to him" was what he answered.

"Well, too bad for you cause he is coming that way, and must I add, he does look hot"

Regulus knew that Barty said that last sentence in the kindest and friendliest way possible, he had absolutely no reason to worry or be jealous of him because he knew his best friend was crazy about his boyfriend Evan, but still he felt like jealousy was eating him alive because even though Barty wouldn't try to steal James from him anyone else could, and the thought of someone getting near those muscles and that flirty smile that were supposed to be his was driving him crazy.

“Enjoying the party?” James kindly asked when he approached him.

“Yeah, sure” Regulus said, taking a sip of his drink.

“You don't talk much, do you Black?” his last name looked incredible on those lips, it felt like James had just resignified it, and Regulus could kill to hear him saying it again but with a raspy voice and in bed this time.

“I guess not” he was actually feeling a little shy which was weird because he never felt like that.

“Well, you should because I like talking to you” and when he said that he sounded kinda flirty so Regulus was probably imagining things, right?

“Ok.. so what do you wanna talk about?” oh he was failing so miserably at this it felt embarrassing.

“What music do you like?”

“Classic ones that I can play on piano” he thought he was imagining things when he saw James looking at his hands but then he answered like it was a really normal thing to say.

“You play piano? That’s nice and what else do those pretty hands do?”

Regulus almost choked on his drink.

Those words sounded so dirty in his ears that he felt his entire body shiver, and who knew James Potter was that naughty? And what did that meant? Because Regulus knew that James and his friends flirted as a joke so was that a joke? Was that James' way of showing they were now friends? Or was this his way of showing that they could be more? That he also wanted to feel Regulus' hands exploring his body like the temple it was? Because Regulus sure wanted that but how would he know what James meant if he didn't have the balls to ask?

“Guess you have to find out” he said with all the courage he had inside of, trying his best to sound sexy but at the same time like it could be a joke so this way he could play safe.

James' eyes went from Regulus’ eyes to his hands and then stopped a little on his mouth before going back to meet his eyes again and Regulus swore he saw lust on them. He knew that boy was going to be the end of him.

“Do you have someone?” James asked as he gently ran his finger over the open space in Regulus' shirt upon his chest. But Regulus Black couldn't give in like that, it would be so pathetic of him.

“What do you mean?” Regulus said trying to act normal with what was happening.

“Well, all your best friends are dating and I noticed that you sometimes escape in the middle of the night but I’ve never really seen you with someone else so I was wondering” he explained.

“Oh…no, I'm only committed to smoking.” he kinda laughed and James thought that might be sexy to watch, but he kept that to himself which was a shame because Regulus would love to have heard that.

“I'm not seeing anyone either and in case you want to know ABBA’s my favorite band” and with that he left, leaving Regulus with a smirk.

How could he do that and why would Regulus give a fuck about ABBA right now? James was torturing him and it was definitely not in the way he wanted him to.

He was about to go nuts because he has just flirted with James fucking Potter but then was left behind like it meant nothing and feeling completely out of system while James was already having fun with a group of boys who Regulus recognised some from quidditch.

“I may or may not have overheard a few things and I think you might need this” Barty said, giving him a glass of firewhisky which he thanked and quickly asked for more.

“C'mon Regulus” said Evan “you can't just keeping getting drunk without doing nothing about it, the boy clearly wants you”

“And why hasn't he said that or made a fucking move himself?”

“Because you can be scary as fuck, Black” Barty added “and if even I think that imagine the smiley little Potter”

“I bet there's nothing little about him” he thought out loud.

“For fuck sakes Regulus, go find out” Barty sounded impatient.

But how would he even do that? James was surrounded by his teammates and Regulus was not going to get there and take him by his shirt, kissing him in the middle of everyone. Although he would really like that. So while he took another shot of firewhisky he decided to do what anyone else would (except that he was fucking drunk by now and no one else would do that).

He went to the middle of the party and took the microphone that Marlene and Remus had just finished using and got on top of a table so he could be sure James was looking at him. And with all eyes on him Regulus mentally thanked for all the times his own friends and brother danced to ABBA and started to sing and as weird as it seems he felt like the lyrics were written by him.

"I wasn't jealous before we met, now every man that I see is a potential threat. And I'm possessive, it isn't nice, you've heard me saying that smoking was my only vice. But now it isn't true, now everything is new and all I've learned, has overturned, I beg of you. Don't go wasting your emotion...Lay all your love on me"

Even though his body couldn't move not even a little bit, Regulus sang all the words like he was meaning them with all his truth and James seemed to get that because since he got on that table the boy couldn't take his eyes of him and he was looking with such an adoration, loving every single second of it that Regulus felt embraced by confidence and desire.

"It was like shooting a sitting duck, a little small talk, a smile, and baby, I was stuck. I still don't know what you've done with me, a grown-up man* should never fall so easily. I feel a kind of fear, when I don't have you near. Unsatisfied. I skip my pride. I beg you dear. Don't go wasting your emotion. Lay all your love on me. Don't go sharing your devotion...Lay all your love on me."

By that time James was already jumping on the table to sing with him and Regulus felt like he was confessing everything he ever wanted though the music. Because that was it, he didn't want James to share his devotion, he wanted to be worshiped by him every day, to have the word "mine" being said by James' lips and to be the one to whom he would give all his dirty looks. He wanted the lust and he wanted the love and he wanted this to be with James because there was no other man who could light a dark room with his smile.

When the song ended James had his hands on each side of Regulus' waist, their face just inches from touching and everyone in the room was a mix of shock and applause.

“So what was that about?” James asked softly.

“I guess it was my way of telling you that I really want you to find out what else my pretty hands can do” he said loud enough for only James to hear.

“Can I kiss you first?” one of his hands was now holding Regulus' face.

“In front of everyone? Are you crazy?”

“You were the one who told me to lay all my love on you and blah blah blah…so can I?”

In Regulus defense his was drunk as hell and there's only so far a man can handle, when it came to James that wasn't much because he felt like he was already melting on his hand, so Regulus counted on everyone else to be as drunk as he was to not care about it that much and nodded in a yes.

And when James' lips touched his he felt like all the embarrassment he had just passed was worth it. He would do it all over again if he needed to because for James there was nothing Regulus wouldn't do.

oh you asked about how I think jily and jegulus can exisit in the same time while everything remains (mostly) canon compliant? that's crazy I was actually just thinking about that....

Okok so we start in James' first year. He obviously makes fast friends with the rest of the boys and meets Lily when he meets everyone else in his year&house. They become very casual friends but not close because of all their differences (pureblood/muggle born, wealthy/middle class, boy/girl (I think they're still in their "the opposite gender has cooties)). Lily has a little crush on James and I know people always talk about James falling first but this is my hc and I'm a firm believer that Lily liked James first. Anyways, they are casual friends.

Onto the James' second year. He meets Regulus on the train because Sirius forces him to meet his friends. James immediately likes Reg and tries to be his friend. Reg has a nice train ride with the marauders but that is kinda ruined when Reg gets sorted into Slytherin. Throughout the year James and Lily become closer because at night they start playing chess together. Because they're closer, they start to pair up in classes. James still tried to reach out to Reg a few times throughout the year because he know how his home life is, but Reg brushes him off.

Third year! James makes the Gryffindor team as seeker but that's not really important till later. James and Lily had definitely been writing to each other over the summer and James has developed a little crush. They go on a little date to Hogsmeade and have their first kiss together. The date and kiss is totally awkward and even thought they both have crushes on each other they decide just to stay friends. James does not give up on trying to connect with Reg, but like the year before Reg brushes him off.

Fourth year... Reg is now a seeker for the Slytherin team. James takes this as an opportunity to try to convince Reg to come over to his house for winter break during games. Reg refuses but it does get them talking and they start to have a little friendship. This friendship includes James finding Reg in the library and helping him with the classes he had the year before. Reg gets a big crush on James. Like massive. James doesn't realize that he has a crush but he's totally into Reg. James and Lily get even closer as friends. James and Lily's crushes kinda fade into the background but they still like each other and get a little flustered when people think they're together. At the very end of the year Reg somehow someway kisses James. James realizes that he likes Reg, but Reg completely ignores him until the year ends.

FIFTH YEAR. When they come back to school James immediately finds Reg and they sort of talk things out. They start a little secret romance. It's adorable it's cute but it's also really tough because Voldemort is on the rise and Reg still hasn't deconstructed/gotten out of his situation. James actually helps a lot with Reg exploring new ideas and question blood supremacy even more. Not much for Lily and James this year besides a really strong friendship (to the point where I think James showed her the map).

Okay sixth year. Later in the year James and Reg break things off and that can be for one of two reasons. One, James finds out that Reg got the dark mark and break up with him because he's so upset. Two, Reg is so ashamed of getting the dark mark after James had helped him so much that he breaks thing off (that's my personal favorite but I love a mix of both). James starts leaning on Lily more after the breakup.

And finally seventh year, James and Lily have a really cute year together and those crushes resurface. By the end of the year they're in an official relationship.

And the rest is canon.

• for starters, i headcanon that everyone is a slytherin minus pandora. in first year, barty and regulus become friends and whilst barty does speak to other people, he stays with reg and he is reg's only friend. barty notices that reg gets upset whenever he sees sirius with james - but reg never says he's angry. barty begins to dislike sirius and james. pandora and evan are twins and only fuck with each other, dorcas has current friends as she's in the year above

year two

• barty/reg meet evan/pandora and form a little quad. barty expects reg to fake liking them but he actually is surprised to see they all get along very well. regulus admits to having a crush on james and he and sirius begin to barely talk. the friendships remain strong but reg is upset over sirius/marauders situation. barty now hates them but keeps it from reg.

year three

• dorcas joins their group but this time it's reg who initiated her into their group and barty originally doesn't get along with her but they sort things through eventually. sirius and regulus no longer speak and regulus is open with how much he dislikes sirius and all his friends - he denies ever liking james. barty is now open with his hate and leads their friends into pranking the marauders regularly. reg and barty kiss and start dating. their group is inseparable. sirius gets crueller and regulus gets colder.

* the summer before regulus' fourth year sirius runs away and regulus' abuse gets worse *

year four

• this is the roughest year. if sirius and regulus see each other in the hallway they WILL fight at every opportunity. barty and evan get closer and reg and pandora get closer. they keep him in check, regulus is extremely mean to james. near the end of the year, the skittles start talking to the girls above (marlene,mary,lily) because of dorcas/marlene but regulus dislikes mary as she and james start dating. reg and barty break up and instead start having casual sex.

year five

• reg starts attending a study group with lily and remus which does mend a few friendships, and reg finds out remus is a werewolf but never says anything. sirius and reg are more sad then mad when they see each other. evan is jealous of reg fucking barty which causes some awkward moments. reg and james after months of back and forth start seeing each other - a secret to everyone but the skittles and remus.

* the summer before reg's sixth year and james' seventh, regulus also runs away and sirius finds out about them - he is supportive. lots of mending this summer. barty stays with the rosiers*

year six

• eventually, jegulus come out and after regulus' first good summer, he's feeling good. whilst reg was away at the potter's, barty/evan start dating. sirius and regulus enter their "healing era" and sirius is basically just a helicopter parent. remus and regulus build a strong friendship and barty/reg address their ex-sex?? basically it's just a deep, emotional talk and they thank each other but acknowledge their codependency.

year seven

• all is well. they sit their exams but without dorcas, james and the others but they all visit the potters in the holidays

I have been made aware that I don't have one post explaining the main lore or giving any coherent idea of what this whole shit is, so this is that.

(these are all daydreams, like actual daydreams that I spend time making up and living in)

(edit:very important bit of context I forgot: ALMOST EVERYBODY IN THIS THING IS POLYAMOROUS AND ITS HEALTHY BECAUSE THIS IS MY MIND AND MY RULES AND I SAY I WANT HAPPINESS.)

So, the main universe is about me, or my self insert, essentially the same person but it depends cus shes technically me but worse and more fucked up without consequences

Anyway, the main thing is all about me and most of my characters are my friends/partners or otherwise close to me

Like I'm talking about 85 ish percent of my characters that are connected to me in some way

Rundown of the most important ones:

Harley: my girlfriend and later wife, has three siblings and a complicated history w them, she's Italian and it's hot, she also is quite morally bad in some daydreams (where she and I start dating when she's in her twenties and I'm a teen) and also she does incest and nobody cares much, she's hot.

Evan: one of my closest friends and my enemy to friends/enemies with benefits in one universe, I love him sm he's my boy, I will defend him until I die. He has two kids later in life and they have a lot of lore too, he's married to Eli and they're cute and we're illegal for a long time

Nya: mine and Harley's bsf with benefits, they're enby and they're amazing, they're also pierre's and kalypsos parent, and socially married to Regulus, just not legally

Regulus : married to mary, because they're in love and they're like high school sweethearts and perfect. He's Pierres and kalypsos dad and a total dilf later in life, he's a twink for a good part of it tho

(side note, both Regulus and nya are involved in fucked up stuff w their siblings and their kids at some point, their kids are also involved w each other but like... idk ignore it if U don't like it pls)

(the one fucked up thing I don't do is incest children because it icks me out as hell, actual rape and, as i recently found out, making my characters commit fucked up shit when it's exactly how they were traumatized aka becoming like their abuser because i hate it sm.)

I never judge anybody for the stuff that happens in their head tho, so pls don't do that to me either!

Mary: this whole au started w her, she's ex Christian and she burnt a Bible in front of her religious manipulative dad and I love her

Vienna: French, childhood bestie w Mary and regulus, later has a kid through ivf (Mary carries and genetically it's Vienna and Reg's kid) she's beautiful and amazing and rlly smart and i love her shes also Harley's best friend

Phillippa: Spanish, literal enbodiment of the colour orange, has two siblings + one dead one, and does incest w both of her siblings (she's the middle child btw)

Her siblings are Alex and Camilla, they amazing and i talk a lot about them, their group tag is The orange trio

J and Azur: husbands, do a lot of kink stuff, have three kids and are girl dad's of the year, J does fucked up shit w his two sisters but Azur doesn't do anything bad ever because he's an angel

Now onto the kids:

Pierre : my love my baby my boy, we do fucked up stuff but I don't tall about it graphically on here usually just in private on asks w ppl, he does horse riding and he's amazing and so cool and smart, loves his mother almost more than he loves his horses

Kalypso: his twin sister, also does horse riding but I actually dk much about her except the stuff w Pierre and her dad, she's blonde tho and very pretty

Emmeline: LOVE OF MY FUCKING LIFE Evan's second child, married to daphne, both of them are formula 1 drivers and that's also how they met, they later have two kids, James and Penelope (emmelines sister is called Sarah but she's not important)

(Emmeline Daphne and their fam own a Brazilian island off the coast it's rlly cool)

Ronan: j's and Azur's middle child, the only son, black hair, very pretty, reincarnation of a guy that was close w his dad and like everybody in the group, called Riley/Star and he died and then was reincarnated as ronan, Ronan speaks fluent Greek because of that and rileys family left him the island they own when they died and it's his fav thing ever

Beatrice: she does gymnastics, she's the youngest kid in the whole family, she's ginger and shes tiny

Esmeralda: J's and azurs oldest kid, beautiful ofc, does horse riding too but I have no idea what she does as a job

There's smth called the pack house, whcih is a house/estate in the south of France, from the adults these following live there (when they're not traveling or doing stuff) :

The estate is huge, there's one big house and then two smaller one, there's a lake, a stable and everything for the horse it's like a whole seperate world

Most of the group knows each other because they were in a band together /their bands were close friends in the scene and then that just like.. Happened cus I'm incapable of letting go ever.

Now, onto the whole other universe that's important rn

Centered around the real life event of me switching schools but thats where reality ends lol

One rich kid, Astrid and her parents travel a lot so the house is empty a lot so there's always parties at hers

The whole thing is a fuckign fever dream because it's essentially just orgies and parties and most of the characters are involved in said orgies

raahh i wish i could answer two asks in the same post since i got another ask for this one, but here we are:

ive posted about this au a bit before, though that was less of an in depth explanation as this is going to be lol

so, basically the population of hogwarts are making tons of rumors based on the four of them, stuff about each off of them being involved with each other in one way or another,

here is basically the basis of why these rumors came across:

Barty & James: Theyve been seen leaving parties together and Barty has been seen going to the Marauders dorm room (Barty is actually tutoring James and they will leave parties to walk around and talk because James gets overwhelmed by the noise sometimes)

Evan & Regulus: They are both prefects together and they talk in hushed whispers a lot that people think has tension (They are just close friends and Evan is one of the only people that Regulus doesn't act like he despises talking to, (must be a rosier twin thing))

Barty & Evan: Barty and Evan are almost always seen touching eachother, hand holding, arm around a shoulder, head in laps, etc etc (Barty is a very handsy person and his love language is physical touch, Regulus hates being touched most of the time, but Evan doesn't mind it so Barty usually will cling to him when they're together)

Regulus & James: People suspect something is going on between the two of them because of their sudden friendship & because Regulus always looks very flustered when they talk (Reg & James are partners in their Potions class, (reggie is in the grade above because he's advanced in the subject) and Regulus has no idea how to react to how verbally validating James is and how sweet and kind, so he just goes red and stares at him)

Evan & James: People think they have something going on because Evan is just overly soft and sweet about him, calls him nicknames and pinches his cheeks (Evan does this with all of his friends, but James is just louder & basically the definition of adorable so people notice it more)

Barty & Regulus: They argue all the time but in the way where its incredibly tension filled and Barty will flirt with him all the time and Regulus doesn't punch him so that counts for something (They are just both very bantery and Barty loves making Regulus glare at him when he makes flirty comments)

basically they all find these rumors ridiculous and end up using it for their advantage. Barty comes up with the idea to just confuse the entirety of hogwarts with being fucking impossible,

Barty is doing it mostly to give a huge fuck you to his dad, James thinks this will be the best prank ever, Regulus thinks itd be funny to piss of his brother, and to bring disgrace to his family name, Evan is just...well he's bored so he goes along with it

just picture the hogwarts student body as a huge fandom who have constant ship wars, where the actual people apart of these ships are just laughing at them

but..then the plot twist: they actually start to like eachother,

that starts up the drama because all four of them are like: "this is supposed to be a joke though, this isn't supposed to feel real" and they all think the others think of it as not real, but nope, theyre all gay panicking

plus, bonus points: James didn't even know he liked men before this

oh and, Evan's excuse of him being bored is actually to cover up the fact he's had a crush on basically all three of the them at some point in his life and hes just like: "holy shit this is my time to be y/n"

"Don't get me started on jegulus" actually please get started I'd like to hear your thoughts on it because your take on wolfstar and the oc-ification of some characters is so refreshing to see (tbh my first reaction to jegulus was just confusion on how it started and how quickly it got popular lmao)

ahh this makes so happy to hear that my post resonated with some people!! Was worried i was in the minority lol.

Anyways, abt jegulus -- i acc had a reaaally long post about how much i hated the dynamic (in canon compliant ish works -- Jegulus in aus is fine ig) but i deleted it lol.

I think the core reason why i dislike the pairing so much is that I feel like it the ship goes against everything James stands for. We don't know a lot about James' character in canon, but what we do know is that he had a strong sense of justice, and fierce loyalty to his friends and his cause, which ultimately led to his doom. I just can't imagine that James would associate with someone even a little bit bigoted. This is not to say i think James is a saint, i think he could be an ass sometimes (snapes worst memory lol) but i think he'd draw the line at someone who was associated with 'evil'. James had a very black and white view of good and bad and i just don't think it would make sense for James to date reg, esp as he is becoming a death eater. James may be a dick but he is also the biggest ally to ever ally !!

The only jegulus fics I have read are 'Just Lovers' and 'Choices'. Just lovers is a non-voldy au so i don't really have a problem with their dynamic there but choices on the other hand,, oh boy.

Spoilers for 'Choices' by MesserMoon btw (TW for talk of SA):

Regulus' friends rape Mary. And instead of feeling disgusted on the victim’s behalf, (who has been his friend for 5 years) James instead feels upset because it tarnishes the ‘good’ image he has of reg in his head. Thing is when a similar situation happened (The Prank ™), James was upset that Sirius would do such a thing but he also felt disgusted on behalf of Remus. Where was that energy here, huh?? I’ve even seen comments villianising Mary (the rape victim).

The thing I also hate about their dynamic is that it is basically an ally of the oppressor and ally of the oppressed. The problem with that is that when you are allied with the oppressor, you become an oppressor yourself (and reg does; he does terrible things) and that subsequently makes the so-called ally of the oppressed in cahoots with the oppressor as well. This brings so many parallels to real life where people say that they are an “ally” but become friends with/date a racist/rapist. “Oh but they’re nice to me”. its just a little ew.

And in other jegulus canon-compliant-ish fics, sometimes instead of James' character being watered down its Regulus' character. Like, he's not as morally grey, not as complex etc so it makes sense that James would agree to date him. I feel like jegulus as a ship ruins the core of what made their characters so interesting in the first place.

That being said,,, i do love me some canon-compliant unrequited jegulus. Regulus goes to hogwarts, gets so mad at Sirius for ditching him or whatever, but falls in love with the very guy that stole sirius away. He also has internalised homophobia because he's a Black brother so imagine the angst. James potter goes against everything he stands for,, sirius betrayed him,, but perhaps they're right abt smth?? Perhaps he needs to do smth. alone.

sorry for rambling but these are my thoughts on jegulus !! Anyways I feel like I should reiterate that this is a personal preference!! I think it ruins core of these characters, i prefer jily and i love me some unrequited gay pining for the boy who you're brother replaced u with. But this is just a personal preference !

oh and just a side note if it ever led to a decision where james had to choose between sirius and regulus -- no matter how much he 'allegedly' loved regulus, he would choose sirius, no questions asked.

anyway. james starts talking a lot about regulus at some point. that hes started noticing him more and what not and now peters bothered. hes never really been that bothered when reg has been seeing someone except for like mild jealousy and a more sour mood than usual when he has to be around reg and whoever hes dating. but now hes bothered because like james is his friend…. and no one ever says no to james.. pete doesnt think hes ever met someone who doesn’t instantly want him. and so ofc reg would want james. james is james. and that would mean seeing more of regulus if he would be james’ boyfriend . thats when the very serious jealousy starts to settle in. peters always in a foul mood and james is always flirting with regulus now

i havent really gotten to how they actually end up together. i think they haven’t spent a lot of one on one together before but now james starts inviting him to parties or whatever. so maybe they end up somewhere smoking a joint together and spend the entire time just. talking . sitting close together with their shoulders touching and talking in soft voices

so maybe reg starts going to the parties as a way to see peter. i dont think reg is used to calm. and peters very calm. hes a quiet guy but its never really awkward. its just nice ?? reg loves being invited into peters solitude and space. he apologizes profusely for never shutting up and for maybe bothering peter but peter is amused and smitten and realising that letting someone in isn’t as bad as he thought it would be. maybe its not bad at all !!! maybe its actually sort of lovely listening to regs voice while smoking

hiii! Having Thoughts sooo what are ddtk remus and sirius up to today? 👀💕

hello!! thank you sm for the ask! i’m putting the full ramble under a cut bc i… well, i wrote you a whole essay lmaooo, but in short: ddtk remus and sirius are doing very well, and are as sickeningly in love as ever!! <3

they’ve officially moved in together, sirius asked remus about it on new year’s eve (right after the end of extra kisses) since they were spending more nights together at either one of their flats than they were alone, and there was, subsequently, an abundance of giddy gushing about & to one another, and champagne-drunk sloppy making out about it all. they spent ages looking for a flat that works for both of them—somewhere still close to sirius’ work and (what is now just) james and reg’s flat, but also close to a train station for remus to get where he needs to go (because while he has his license, and sirius has said he’s welcome to use the car whenever he likes, remus just generally doesn’t love driving and prefers taking public transport, reading a book/listening to music on the commute). the place is smaller than sirius’ old place with james and reg, but bigger than remus’ old single bedroom flat, and it doesn’t look like much at first, but they spend many weekends going furniture shopping and decorating the place and it turns into a really beautiful home.

remus graduated from his teaching degree!! around a year after he and sirius officially started dating, and sirius made sure james, regulus, marlene, and dorcas all came to his graduation ceremony, and lily, mary, and peter were there too, of course. sirius cheered far too loudly when remus’ name was called and he got his degree, and they went out for a big dinner all together to celebrate. when he first starts teaching, sirius insists on referring to him as professor lupin for an entire week straight until remus threatens to never call him sweetheart again if he doesn’t stop (he would never actually do that and they both know it, but sirius pretends to take this threat v seriously).

remus also resigned from flourish & chocs and all his coworkers threw him a big farewell party where everyone got far too drunk and remus definitely drunk texted sirius very sappy messages in the middle of it and was extremely clingy when sirius picked him up and he was slightly mortified about it all the next day, but sirius adored every part of it. and! arthur told remus he’ll always give him the staff discount even though he’s not working there anymore.

it took a little for remus to find a school he was comfortable working at, but now he loves all his students and he’s even managed to make some friends with some other staff. he’s everyone’s favourite teacher even though all the kids thought he was a bit odd at first with his clothes that look like their grandfathers’ and his crutch and his general quiet air, but they all very quickly became taken with his passion for history and teaching it in an interesting way, they learn so much more from him than they ever have before, he’s always so kind and patient when someone doesn’t understand or has questions or is struggling. he’s that one teacher that never ever yells, but the look on his face when he’s disappointed with you makes you feel so awful you never want to let him down again. he’s the sort everyone starts going to for advice and remus doesn’t understand how he’s ended up in this position where kids are coming to him about friendship issues and personal struggles—even kids he’s never taught before who’ve just heard that he listens—but he gets a bit weepy when he thinks about it too long.

remus still does sirius’ hair every week (bc sirius is one of those people who can get away with washing their hair once a week and it still looks perfect 6 days after washing it), but nowadays they’ll shower together and remus will do the entire thing for him including shampooing and conditioning and maybe even hair masking if sirius wants. in turn, remus lets sirius wash his hair with his fancy shampoo and lather them both in his expensive body wash that smells so much like sirius that it always makes it remus’ favourite shower of the week (even though he could use the body wash any day, it’s not the same if he does it himself). right before wash day, when it doesn’t matter about keeping sirius’ curl pattern in tact, the two of them can be found curled up on the couch with some game show on that remus cares far too much about (he’s yelling out answers at the tv) and sirius only watches because remus loves it (though he often gets rather invested and contributes answers too, turning it into a competition between them), sirius’ face smushed into remus’ chest and remus raking his fingers through sirius’ hair, giving him nice scalp scratches the way sirius loves so much. when they start properly sharing a bathroom in the new flat, sirius discovers that remus uses one of those 3-in-1 body wash, shampoo, and conditioner things for his hair and he’s like !! remus !! but you spend so long on my curls what are you doing !! and remus just shrugs and says he doesn’t particularly care to do anything more elaborate, so long as his hair is clean that’s all that matters, he wouldn’t enjoy doing it for his hair the way he does sirius’. sirius buys them both silk pillowcases though, so at least remus’ curls are semi-looked after during sleep, and they get a bit of proper care when sirius gets his hands on them in their weekly shared shower.

sirius asks remus one night, after a year or so of working at this school he really likes, what all his students think of sirius and remus is like,,, “wdym??” and sirius is like “i mean surely you talk about me,” and remus is like “erm. well. like. indirectly? i mean, they know i have a partner, but not anything about you” and sirius is (half) outraged to learn that remus has not, in fact, endlessly gushed about him to all his students. so, to rectify this, sirius shows up unannounced to remus’ classroom one day with a Very Important Document that remus forgot at home!! (he did not forget anything) (the document is a little note (love letter) that sirius wrote for remus). so sirius sweeps in all whispered “sorry to disrupt!! sorry, sorry, but moons, my angel, you left this at home and i know you need it today!!” and being very polite and apologetic as he pops in to hand remus the folder, highly aware that the entire classroom of students are staring at him, so he makes sure to give remus a quick kiss on the cheek and a “see you at home” as he leaves, and remus is bombarded with questions like “SIR!! SIR, WHO IS THAT? WHAT DID HE CALL YOU, SIR? SIR, HE KISSED YOUR CHEEK!! SIR, IS THAT YOUR HUSBAND?!” and remus (blushing like mad of course) is externally like “erm. no, that’s… that’s my boyfriend” and tries to move the class back to history rather than himself while internally he’s like “husband?? oh…oh…” and thus, a seed is planted. but of course these kids are like 15 and it’s the last period of the day and there’s no way they’re focusing on history anymore not when they’re so busy trying to wring every last piece of information out of their professor and his boyfriend (“how long have you been dating, sir?” “sir, why haven’t you proposed yet?” “are you waiting for him to propose, sir?” “sir, he’s fit”). sirius is THRILLED to hear about the havoc he caused (though remus leaves out the husband details) and remus pretends to be annoyed for a tiny bit, but he’s secretly very proud for people to know that sirius is his boyfriend, and he keeps the note sirius gave to him in his desk drawer and takes it out to read all the time at work with a sappy little smile on his face.

UM so yeah, now remus is doing secret ring research and fretting over how smoothly he can get down on one knee with his leg and enlisting lily’s help to plan the most perfect proposal ever, all the while sirius is secretly doing the same with james <3
