i love the ways disco elysium portraits are used to both represent and bend the actual realities of the characters. elizabeth is met sitting on a bench and is generally short so the portrait reflects her reluctantly looking up at you

the scene where jinx reads out the letter to vi is so so so important.

vi's idolised vander her entire life. he's her shining example of what to do, her golden heart, everything she was supposed to be and symbolise. and since his passing, it's been nothing but clawing her way back to his image. to his final words, to all of it.

only for jinx to take up that mantle. for vi's lurching attempts to make things right landing her as an enforcer on the other side of the river. it's why vi, despite not trusting jinx an inch, still goes with her to find vander. because vander was everything to vi, and if she can find him and make that right then maybe things would be okay. in everything else, her stinging failures and misery and loneliness, maybe saving vander would save herself too.

and then she finds the letter. the letter from vander to silco - silco, who vi sees as everything that went wrong. all the bad awful shit, why she lost powder, why she lost jinx. the reason why she went after her sister to try and stop (kill) her. and the letter is asking silco for forgiveness. forgiveness. and it all clicks into place.

because if vander, good and right vander, wanted to forgive silco, then whats stopping vi from forgiving jinx?

im going to be real i only made this for the sake of the caption. i was proud of it!! aaaa i’ve had the sketch for this done for like… 2 weeks now? i just didn’t really know how i actually wanted to execute it!! and i remembered seeing that one 3d glasses trend on twitter a while back! and i think it worked pretty well teehee :3

also as a sidenote, this is probably the fastest ive ever finished a drawing? this only took, like, an hour. which isn’t that surprising, this is a pretty simple drawing, it’s just interesting to me! and a little funny given it took me 2 weeks to get back to this. i really procrastinated for weeks over this??

I know breasts are not always the same size, but usually the difference isn’t that big, so I was wondering if it was for some symbolic nature of sorts, or anything along those lines?

yes !!! there is a reason !!! :D i wanted one half of the chest to be flat and the other not, to represent adam and eve as this painting takes place in the garden, to show the contrast between the masculine and femenine, and to further show my transness and my butchness as a nonbinary lesbian as i have a very unique relationship with gender :)

yanno the more i consider it the more i think jayce started hallucinating in that cave bc he was actually just incredibly sleep deprived... i mean i guess its not like they told us why he hallucinates melvik and i havent rlly seen anyone mention the why of it but like thats my idea at least HAHA

which uhh not only are hallucinations a very real symptom of sleep deprivation (like as early as like 2-3 days w/o sleep), but when considering the like cold rock floor, vomit inducing leg pain, dirty still water and raw lizard guts; he definitely was not in the most comfortable of positions to be sleeping (even if he was extremely tired lmao) also those fuckin Things watching over him while he wastes away. if u knew something was watching you would you be able to get a good nights rest lmfao

and it doesnt help that even before he got yeeted into the anomaly he was 1) staying up for multiple nights watching over SourdoughStarter!Viktor trying to figure out whats going on w him n then 2) 'sleeping' in his lab waiting for viktor to come back after their messy divorce scene

and i know he didnt sleep well bc of personal experience HAHA ive had a handful of times where ive been kept awake all night from stomach stuff (cramps or bloating or starving pains u name it lol) so like been there done that i can Relate.

yeah we got shots of him curled up in our signature period cramps pose or like very lethargically laying on the ground, but i can also relate to that bc theres times either in my oops i forgor food days where i just kinda rot in bed all day barely moving OR when im trying to got to sleep but cant so i just close my eyes for 4 hours despite my brain being awake the whole time and just existing between states of consciousness while not actively resting at all

and while we're here ik he has a bunch of things on his mind to theoretically cry about, but i have definitely cried from frustration of not being able to sleep like a good chunk of times in my life HAHA so
