also to be clear. i really like naruto and think it’s a good manga. it is not a guilty pleasure or “almost good” to me. i think kishimoto had a really compelling story to tell about grief and love and naruto and sasuke, and he got to tell it. unfortunately he also ended up talking about women and politics for a while there. but even then his clumsiness is honestly kind of interesting to me, and i don’t think it ruins the heart of the story !

#i see why some people don’t like it but i really like it ! and that’s that on that #unfortunately it was cursed by being enormously popular and developing a massive variety of fandoms including a lot of genuine sexists -#as well as people who aren’t trying to be sexist but by refusing to acknowledge the blatant sexism in the text actually end up #further perpetuating sexism. and yes i’m including many tumblr fans and people who consider themselves feminists in that #i’m sorry to say it but just a quick rewrite to make the girls more powerful or boys like them back does not solve the problem
