Yes, every event for this blog is fanfic friendly :D

Though as I mentioned on my Ominous October post, for events that include multiple short stories, I encourage everyone to flex their creativity and take one of their planned short story fanfics, and at least *attempt* to turn one of them into something entirely original; rebuilding a character and story from the ground up to stand on its own two legs is no easy feat, and that is what makes it so fun!

It really gets your creative gears turning, to make an "au of an existing material" to be something entirely original, and you can be pleasantly surprised about the things you come up with!

As a few people say, its not just a matter of "filing the serial numbers off" -- you have to add in just as much *or more* as what you take out when you are turning a fanfiction into something that is original and completely divorced from its original source material / inspiration, and that is a hard, but very rewarding challenge!

Obviously, this is not a requirement (there's no hard requirements for any of the challenges, other than no cheating, including no using AI),

but if you would like an extra challenge for the short story events and you're planning on doing entirely fan-fiction, I highly recommend trying it out at least once, and seeing where it leads you--

you may find yourself pleasantly surprised by what you find down that rabbit hole!

Personally of the belief that live action fans who go onto animanga posts uninvited like 'I DESPERATELY NEED YOU TO KNOW THAT I THINK THE ART STYLE IS UGLY EVEN THO THIS OPINION IS IRRELEVANT TO THE POST' should be hit with a big rock. Gepard’s trust is not necessarily an easy thing to gain, however, much of the trust he has had that has been broken was inherently bestowed upon him by ties afforded to him by standing and relations with others. The Supreme Guardian comes pretty directly into my mind in this regard because Gepard placed a great deal of trust in her to know what was best for the citizens and belobog as a whole and for a great deal of his life this faith is what lead him to follow her despite knowing, never speaking it aloud, that some of the things she did were not truly in accordance with the people’s best interest. It was an internal conflict because Gepard is someone who is driven by this need to protect others, to ascertain that their livelihoods are safeguarded even if it costs him dearly. As far as earning his trust goes when you are not someone who is linked to him by family it’s very much a prove yourself to me through your own means sort of thing, while he isn’t quick to believe other’s he is also the sort to see someone doing instead of merely talking and that will be the turning point for his trust in them. Betrayal is another hard topic because it very much links back into the idea that trusting someone to do what is good doesn’t always mean they will. with his trust in the Supreme Guardian irrevocably altered and then she mcfucking died anyway, his world was thrown off kilter, he had placed alot of his faith into that trust and then when it was changed, broken, whatever, it made him second guess alot of things he had always believed to be true. Gepard Landau’s life is based around trusting people based on the foundation of I should trust you because of your position, so its another round of internal struggle between knowing someone SHOULD do what’s right but then seeing someone who is not expected to do the right thing doing something that would eventually gain his trust. It’s very much a task to get him to trust you entirely, but when he does he will die for you, he will protect you to his last breath. He’s a loyal to a fault and when that trust is gained you sort of end up under his mantle of protection.

sometimes I wonder if I should take a gender studies class just so I can bitch every day about how an imaginary boyfriend is often seen as a requirement for a woman to feel safe enough to have fun at a club, or the idea that an imaginary person with a fake “claim” over me has more influence over predatory men than my own voice saying “No, I’m not interested, get lost”

There's a great juxtapositioning for me in BVS between Broose and Lex that I find so fascinating. Like thematically, it makes sense that both Clark's biggest defender and detractor are similarly two people who are both BIG Thinkers. They're world movers. They change the world. (There's so many stories that emphasize it more broadly although I think BVS does it well for me too.) But while Bruce is the one that tries to dig and bury himself in the shadow on the ground, Lex is the one clinging desperately to hover over others and float in the sky. It's different sets of ego and where the clarity of seeing someone like Clark, who isn't even technically human be the most human of them all, strikes opposing chords in them. Bruce sees hope, aspiration and heroism. Lex seeing blasphemy, terror and mockery. Bruce is humbled while Lex on the other hand is humiliated. Wild.

it's genuinely disorienting to work in an area where we are all women* in a field that most people assume is dominated by men and to have my coworkers STILL tell me "oh that position is a MAN'S job, we need a MAN to come help us with that" like bitch no we don't!!!!! it's not even that hard!!!!! what, because it requires a little extra strength suddenly that means that we're INCAPABLE of doing something??? fuck off. i can and will find a way to do whatever I need to for my position and I will learn how to do it on my own.

Truly fucking insane to me how even some trans people have drunk the gender essentialist koolaid and think that trans men are like, inherently arms of the patriarchy and oppressors. Just like believing all cis men are each, individually responsible for patriarchy. Isn’t the point of feminism that the system and people’s unconscious upholding of the system are the thing to be criticizing?? Gender essentialism is still gender essentialism even if you do it to trans people.

I don’t know why people don’t understand that treating any group as a monolith whose experiences are all the same is like. Bad and harmful. Trans men are men but they are not cis men. Many of us have experienced girl / womanhood enforced on us by society and deeply understand the struggle. I don’t see why it’s harmful to acknowledge the fact that trans men experience misogyny!!!! Lots of trans men haven’t or won’t transition! I promise you even if we are men, see ourselves as men, the vast majority of society will not.

I really hate infighting and “calling out” whole sections of the community, and I guarantee I’m not talking about 90% of trans women who are normal but that other 10% act like trans men have betrayed women by “choosing to be men”. Isn’t that like, 1) literally gc / terf logic and 2) implying that trans people just up and choose their gender one day (not saying that some don’t but like. Being trans is a deeply personal thing that’s often not a choice.)

This is thinking that makes trans men guilty to be trans men. We’re used to hearing it from radfems but to hear it from people who are supposed to be our allies??? From people who we have something so deeply in common with? It fucking sucks!!!

I’m trying to write around 300 words every day and I couldn’t go to bed unless I at least tried to sit down and write. I’m happy to say that I slaved away and at the end wrote over a thousand words. Yay!
