[neverafter episode 9 spoilers]
everything about ylfa's flashback scene made me feel fucking insane. the wolf is death and the ending of stories. the wolf ate ylfa's grandmother because it was time for her story to end. but for whatever reason it's not time for ylfa's end. for whatever reason the wolf wanted ylfa to live. the wolf ate the grandmother so that she could die, and ylfa ate the wolf so that she could live. the wolf wanted ylfa to live, and at the deepest core of herself she wants to live too. i'm scratching at the WALLS. LIKE "i met death and death wants me to live" EMILY SAID IT SO CASUALLY BUT LOWKEY THAT'S THE RAWEST SHIT I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE!
also though you need to eat to live and the consumption of stories to stay alive beyond the end of your own story... i am Thinking...

I might have controversial opinions on the "Faerghus Four." Mostly that it doesn't exist, and at worst, it exists to exclude Dedue.
Yes, Dimitri, Ingrid, Sylvain, and Felix grew up together, but that was as children. While that history is significant to their relationships, it ignores everything after. With the tragedy of Duscur, Dimitri and Dedue became inseparable while Felix was sickened by them, Ingrid couldn't overlook Dedue's connection to the tragedy, and Sylvain's apathy grew.
Past the age of ~15, you can't ignore how Dedue and the tragedy affects their relationships. I don't see just the four of them as a friend group, especially not without him because he's so important to Dimitri and the themes of Faerghus.

Okay media consumers, I'm gonna ask you to follow some lines of logic with me.
For good stories to exist, there needs to be conflict.
For conflict to happen, one or more characters will almost always need to make bad choices.
Just because a character makes one or a few bad choices does not automatically earn them the label of "toxic".
Just because said character does not experience immediate consequences due to their bad choices does not mean that they never will (especially if their story is not yet finished), nor does it mean that their creator is romanticizing or portraying their bad choices in a good light.
I mean, come on. You guys love a good slow burn romance. The least you can do is get used to the idea of slow burn conflict.
Edit:
DO NOT INTERPRET THIS POST AS ME SAYING THAT YOU SHOULDN'T DISAGREE WITH ANY CHARACTER'S ACTIONS EVER. DO NOT DO THAT.
I can tell some of you are already thinking about doing that.
Don't.
Please.
I don't have the energy for that.

“No way, Ford! You go down there with them - both of them.” Stan’s got his finger lodged in his brother’s chest. “God knows what kind of weird booby traps you set up in that creepy basement of yours and we’ve got to get these kids back home in one piece.”
Ford stutters, the sound coming out of his brother reminding Stan of Soos’s backfiring pickup truck, complete with little poofs of grey smoke. Now that Stan’s looking at him, really looking at him, his brother’s eyes seem a bit glazed, his pupils more dilated than they should be at three in the afternoon.
“How much coffee have you had today?”
The question knocks his brother from his stupor, Ford slapping away Stan’s hand with an irritated growl. “My caffeine consumption has been within a point-five standard deviation of my historical average,” he says primly, brushing a bit of invisible dirt from his maroon turtleneck.
Stan ignores this statement. Time to bring in the big guns. “Mabel? Sweetie?” he calls over to the porch where his niece is hanging upside down from a ratty, weatherworn couch, her face buried in some glossy magazine with cartoonish-looking waffles doing a kickstep on the cover. “Your Grunkle Ford needs your help!”
Defying every law of physics, Mabel is beaming at Stan’s side before he’s finished voicing his request, a development that would have fascinated his brother if he weren’t glaring daggers in Stan’s direction.

I do kind of want to briefly ramble about Akechi’s rank 4 scene though because it kind of pleasantly surprised me?
So Akechi takes Joker to the jazz bar, which is his place to get away from it all, kind of his safe spot. His best options are when you give responses that show excitement and enthusiasm about the place, which is… aw.
Then the conversation segues into Akechi asking if Joker has a place like that, where he feels at ease, and all of the responses obviously reference Leblanc. First of all, that’s really sweet to have a kind of confirmation of that - Joker and Sojiro had a rocky start to their dynamic, but now he’s feeling like it’s a safe spot for him, and with Morgana there too, and the Thieves having come to visit a few times, maybe even more of a home than the one he left (though perhaps that’s pushing it?).
Secondly though, alarm bells were going through my head, because nowhere in all of this business does it seem a good idea to tell the detective investigating me where I live and am now operating my heists from. (Even though he probably could find that out easily… but still.)
So I picked the vaguest option, to be on the safe side, but little did I know that it doesn’t matter.
Because Joker tells Akechi about Leblanc anyways. Completely without player input. And at first I was a bit taken aback, but then it made a lot of sense.
For one thing, it confirms that Akechi is being genuine about this being his place to feel at ease. Not that I doubted that, but Akechi often says one thing and means multiple; he’s quite good at controlling the flow and direction of a conversation to get the info he wants. But that’s not the vibe I got here at all. He’s just… sharing it. Wants Joker to enjoy it the way he does. It’s actually a fair amount of openness, especially in that he’s never shared that place with anyone else before. And so Joker returns that openness with an honest answer and his own place of comfort - prioritizing returning Akechi’s honesty with his own instead of potential repercussions. Wild. I love it. And it tracks from their previous interactions.
Akechi downplays his skills by using his non-dominant hand, which Joker notices. Joker returns that (whether intentionally or inadvertently, I can’t actually say) when he puts his glasses on Akechi - the fake glasses that he wears, ostensibly, so as not to draw attention to himself. There’s a sense of honesty for honesty here, openness for openness, particularly from Joker. It’s just interesting.
