hai
hello internet people. recently have been filled with dread and sorrow, which is not fun!! not completely, though; i’ve been feeling pretty good as of late. finally starting to take initiative and look into some health things that have been persisting for a while. i actually have to go back tomorrow to finish some testing.
i think what i’ve been struggling to accept that it’s okay to not have all the answers. i am fund-deficient at the moment and curious as to how i will make rent for the next month, lol, but something continues to assure me n ot to worry. i don’t want to play it too cool and end up f*cked over, yk? but i do want to be better at trusting myself and my intuition. i am incredibly grateful to be endowed with such strong intuitive calling. i am oh so excited to see miss kelela. that has been my latest obsession. i picked out my outfit, and am currently contemplating what hair i am going to do.
there’s a lot that has been running through my mind as of late pertaining to relationships, friendships, being alone. trying to deal with it all. need to be okay asking for help and standing my ground. all i want to say.

I’ve been rereading a lot of this book, now that I’ve had time to settle my thoughts about it, to give it time to percolate, and I’m coming to a new appreciation of a lot of what it’s putting forth.  The thing is, while I recognize that Qui-Gon is probably meant to be more of a reliable narrator here, the context is startingly supportive of how he’s actually not that reliable. This is an interesting discussion of the Jedi’s position in the galaxy and just how far they can/cannot go.  Qui-Gon’s argument is that they should Leeroy Jenkins their way into this situation because what Czerka is doing is morally wrong, even if it’s not legally wrong, that they should take up their lightsabers and just go invade, basically.  Obi-Wan’s argument (and Yoda’s as well) is that they need to work within the system and better the system itself, so that Czerka will not be able to commit horrors like this. Qui-Gon is coming from an incredibly good hearted place, because the very obvious answer to slavery is that it shouldn’t happen and he’s absolutely right about that.  But where Qui-Gon loses me is in three places: 1.  In the very first part of this book, Qui-Gon himself acknowledges why this tactic won’t work.  When he’s facing off with the Hutts, this is his pov:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“It would only lead to bloodshed, at the end of which the Republic would remain triumphant and strong.  The Hutts would scramble and scurry through months of infighting, at the end of which a new set of crime lords would emerge to behave in exactly the same way.” One could argue that it’s different when it comes to real, live people and I don’t disagree!  But the problem is that this same logic would still apply because the other side doesn’t see them as people, but things.  Meaning, that same bloodshed would happen, including the killing of the slaves before Czerka would let the Republic have them. This paragraph describes exactly what happens in the book--Qui-Gon (well, Obi-Wan, as a representative of the Republic) is able to force Czerka to free the slaves by stating a Republic law that says they have to, where the might of the established Republic is the only thing that works to force Czerka into doing the decent thing.  Obi-Wan’s argument that they work within the system holds more water because his way is what works.  (No matter how bad the Republic got, there was still hope to save it, to make it better, in a way that the CIS and Empire never had.  Without Palpatine there to manipulate the worst parts of it, it was at least still possible to make it better, while the Empire was rotten down to every last root.) 2.  Which leads us to:  Qui-Gon ignores the consequences of what he’s arguing for.  Could the Jedi, if they all banded together, stop Czerka?  Maybe?  They’re not nearly as populous as people think, so it’d be like one Jedi fighting six billion people, if you pitted them against the entire galaxy.  Also, he doesn’t acknowledge or address what to do when Czerka--or another company just like them--would then rise up in its place and nothing would change, except all those slaves would probably be dead because that’s what happens when you go that route. Qui-Gon also ignores that the Jedi wouldn’t just be able to flout the laws of the Republic and invade a legal corporation (no matter how vile) without massive consequences.  The Republic isn’t just going to say, oh, hey, sure, yeah, that’s fine.  More likely, at best the Jedi would lose their legal authority--which means, hey, when that new tricky situation pops up, the Jedi will not be asked to help.  Without Republic funding, the Jedi would then either have to entirely disband or they would have to find a new source of income--and that means pretty much the only route for them would be by charging people or by finding some very rich patrons, who probably aren’t going to exactly welcome Jedi neutrality when it clashes with their political ambitions.  Which means only people or planets with money will be able to afford them, which are going to be the people who least need their help. At worst, the Jedi (given that the galaxy misunderstands them and fears them terribly) would be outlawed and/or driven out and/or hunted down.  (The galaxy REALLY likes to do some bad shit to Force-sensitives.  And they were certainly ready to turn a blind eye to the genocide of the Jedi and the slaughter of the children.) 3.  Qui-Gon’s argument is fundamentally, “We should just do whatever we want whenever we want.”  Obi-Wan’s argument is, “We need to work together with the Republic and the system, to make each other better.” This is reflected in the conversation they’re having at the same time about their relationship--Qui-Gon’s motivations for why he still has Obi-Wan practicing basic lightsaber skills is coming from a good place, but there’s a reason the scene ends on Obi-Wan’s killer last line:  Qui-Gon didn’t trust him enough to actually talk to him about it, to work with him. This is a recurring theme throughout the entire book, where Qui-Gon rarely actually talks directly to Obi-Wan, instead all his praise for his apprentice is internal, all his struggling with trying to be a better Master is internal, none of this is actually verbalized with Obi-Wan.  Their relationship is strained and difficult, it has been for the last four years, and the resolution of their tension?  Isn’t through talking it out, it’s just a sudden realization of OH LOL THEY PUT THE REBEL PADAWAN WITH THE REBEL MASTER SO YOU’D REBEL INTO BEING STRAIGHT-LACED and that’s kind of... it. This is echoed in how Qui-Gon misunderstands the Jedi Council (he thinks they’d never actually listen to him, meanwhile they value his differing opinions enough to invite him to join the Council), in how he misunderstands Obi-Wan (he always seems to say the wrong thing, he doesn’t trust him to actually tell him why he’s keeping Obi-Wan in basic lightsaber forms), it’s echoed by how Qui-Gon is offered a position on the Council where he could work to make the system better, but he turns it down flat, he won’t even make an attempt to make things better, because he feels closer to the Force by just going his own way.  Which, fair enough, but politics are a thing that none of us can escape, not if you want to make an actual difference. And seasoning the whole thing is an overarching theme where Qui-Gon’s interest in the prophecies--the thing that he bets everything he has on, the ones that don’t actually mean much of anything in the grand scheme of the PT or the OT, because Star Wars is not about prophecy, it’s about choice--being constantly compared with obsessions, and the logic he uses to determine if he’s right about this? "But this situation was different.  It had to be, because the only thing Qui-Gon knew to be absolutely true was that his vision was real." That’s it, that’s what it is for Qui-Gon.  His vision has to be real, so everything else has to be shuffled around to reach that conclusion.  Even when his vision is proven wrong, Qui-Gon says that he was meant to misinterpret his vision.  That vision he was so sure about, the one that he rearranged everything for, the one that he “knew to be absolutely true”. "But when facts collided with ideals, Qui-Gon preferred to change the facts."

I rewatched Eternal Diva and this time I took notes as I went through
Dive under the cut if you dare to experience my mad in-the-moment ramblings (warning for spoilers for pretty much the entire prequel trilogy)
-          Don Paolo’s voice sounds like what Papyrus’s voice probably should
-          Winter Layton is precious in that giant coat
-          Janice is so pretty omg an angel
-          Layton geeking out over the Detrogan is goddamn adorable
-          I love how everything is greyed out in Janice’s flashback
-          Suuuuuuuuper subtle indication that maybe “Janice” seeing how young this little girl was is what prompted her to find a way to put an end to this whole thing
-          Whether it’s a moped or the Laytonmobile, Emmy drives like crazy XD
-          Bitch you ain’t on Top Gear
-          God her big sister relationship with Luke is adorable tho
-          Aaaaaaaaaaaah Layton smiling at their banter dad’s so happy for his son
-          They did such a good job reusing the game’s music for this movie
-          The opera house looks so cool but so precarious – my first thought upon seeing it was “when is this thing going to sink”
-          I MEAN IT’S ON A CLIFF
-          Janice’s voice is so pretty TToTT
-          I like that they kept the Japanese vocals for her singing
-          SONG OF THE SEA-SHADOWING
-          I hate that Layton and Luke were the ONLY people to honestly applaud the performance. Everyone else is a DICK
-          First time I saw this dude, I thought “that’s a puppet, no ordinary person moves like that even in animation”
-          Once again, Layton putting a polite and gentlemanly spin on “fucked if I know, my dude”
-          Lol I love that even the people who didn’t applaud and thus apparently knew what they were in for weren’t down for dying
-          Fuking cowards
-          Layton is always DTF (down to fight)
-          GROSKY OF THE YARD
-          FUCK YES
-          This dude’s manliness is infectious
-          “Gee, I wonder who’s behind this-“ *Descole’s theme starts playing* “-oh well never mind”
-          Honestly who else but Descole would be this fucking extra tho
-          Gotta admit I love the twist of the opera house being a ship, I was totally expecting it to just go plunging into the ocean at a moment’s notice
-          Aaaaah the CG in this movie is really well done
-          Layton’s angry face is kinda ridiculous but I love it
-          I love that it’s pointed out like “where tf did all these sharks come from”
-          I prefer Cartoon Saloon’s Song of the Sea, but this one’s pretty too
-          Lol as if a MAN-EATING SHARK could keep down GROSKY OF THE YARD
-          I’m surprised he can see over the top of his chest hair
-          God, the detrogan is such a cool instrument and I really wish something like it existed irl
-          Ah, it’s only like fifteen sharks, Grosky will be fine
-          I love the air of mystery surrounding Oswald Whistler
-          Layton’s hat is made of 100% pure uncut husband material
-          AAAAAAAAAAAAAH I LOVE HOW PUZZLES ARE USED IN THIS MOVIE IT’S SO GOOOOOOOD
-          I’m so glad they didn’t scrap it entirely coz I mean they’re so integral not only to the Layton games, but Layton himself
-          This music box tune kinda gives me Gravity Falls vibes tbh
-          I think the backing melody sounds pretty identical to the tune’s intro
-          I love that this movie actually lets us see inside Layton’s head and his thought process, it’s so much better than just having him put everything together seemingly offscreen
-          Tbh any puzzle where “the night sky” is the solution is bound to be a good puzzle
-          I just fucking love the implied MASSACRES in this movie
-          God Luke is so goddamn precious
-          Pffft pumpkin dude is so subtly duplicitous
-          Okay I have ot pause for a bit to rant about layton’s design because it’s SO GOOD. Warm colours make him seem welcoming and kinda comfy and the simple facial features, while a bit Ditto-esque, do combine nicely with his overall shape to scream “friend”. Professor Layton is friend shaped. And of course there’s the popped collar to show that he’s cool, the high collared shirt gives a scholarly vibe, his shoes which I stg are plimsolls show a practical side and of course the quintessential top hat shows that he’s a Gentleman first and foremost. Add the amazing voice to that and BOI I DIE
-          Although I can’t help imagining that gif with the teddy bear slapping eyebrows onto its face to look angry whenever he gets mad
Tumblr media
-          Luke is not friend shaped. Luke is son shaped.
-          Precious bab shaped
-          Wpw a sea captain I would never have guessed other than the “sailor” accent and the fact that you’re wearing a sailor’s uniform
-          Ugh I love these quiet moments where things can sink in and characters can just talk to each other, I really wish more movieswould do this
-          I love that even if you don’t have a literal look at his thought processes, you can still see Layton THINKINg
-          Agh Amelia is SO CUTe this series is so good at designing beautiful women and cute girls while also making them look DISTINCT
-          I like that they hinted at her intelligence by having her solve the puzzles by herself
-          One advantage a film has over the games is that the visual novel format kinda limits the dialogue, coz it’s hard to convey one charafter talking over another
-          I really like the side characters. They’re simple, yes, but they don’t really need to be complex
-          I will admit that the limits of Layton’s simple facial features means it can be hard to tell who/what he’s looking at sometimes…
-          “that man” asked me to write an opera, huh
-          WHY DOES NOBODY ASK WHO
-          Fuck descole’s theme is SO GOOD
-          WHERE DOES HE GET THE FUNDING FOR ALL OF THIS THOUGH
-          And Grosky boards the ship just in time for it to blow up XD I love this dude
-          I can only imagine his gigantic pecs act as a flotation device
-          Layton preventing Luke from looking at the exploding ship THIS MAN IS SUCH A DAD HE’S SO GOOD
-          I love this scene with Emmy investigating because these parent’s appearances are just enough to make it ambiguous whether they’re Nina or Amelia’s parents
-          Seeing them all wrapped up in blankets is kinda cute tbh
-          LET. THEM. SLEEP.
-          I wonder what Layton uses to keep his hat on?
-          Lol Emmy pushing a fossil aside to look at the map
-          I can only assume, given that they set off from the White Cliffs of Dover, that this island is SOMEWHERE off the coast of mainland Europe in about the same region as Spain
-          Ugh I LOVE Emmy’s uppercrust accent, the fact that she sounds like such a refined lady is such a fun contrast to her literal arse-kicking
-          Also this is totally BBC news lol
-          I love the detail of the historian’s scrapbook being kinda hodgepodge with bits falling out
-          And I love the Ambrosia Seal being super detailed but the subtle incorporation of a sheet music design
-          Gotta admit I totally thought this little banquet was poisoned on my first watch
-          Lol I love that pumpkin guy just KEEPS POURING THE WINE
-          Ugh that beach looks SO PRETTY, I want to go there
-          Janice is totally crushing on Layton, pass it on
-          D’awwwwww luke trying to befriend ‘melina’ is SO CUTE this boy must be protected at all costs
-          Layton how did you hear what she was humming from all the way over there
-          Why do so many anime characters have inexplicable super senses
-          Those wolves’ eyeliner is on point lol
-          “I’m not built for running” lol mood
-          FUCKING HELL DESCOLE WHO IS FUNDING ALL YOUR SHIT
-          HOW MUCH DISPOSABLE INCOME DO YOU FUCKING HAVE
-          Admittedly on my first watch I wasn’t as familiar with descole’s theme, but I saw that castle and I just thought “it’s descole, only he can be that extra”
-          The twist of using the cages for personal protection rather than to trap the walls is simple, but so clever
-          I love that Mr Whistler was one of those accidentally trapped outside. Keeps suspicion off
-          And I love Layton saying “well that solved PART of our problem”
-          YOU SHUT UP LADY THE PROFESSOR IS AMAZING
-          And then he trips and falls lol that’s what you get for wearing old man shoes
-          “Even a good gentleman needs to get some exercise!” pfft
-          Oh hey, they found the starter house that Descole was using while he was building that castle. I wonder what texture pack he’s using?
-          And here Layton puts MacGuyver to shame in the most Ghibli way possible
-          I’d love to see someone try to build this thing XD someone call the Mythbusters
-          Bjut I adore how even LAYTON isn’t sure how this fucking thing works
-          Fucking NERD
-          Yeah, these filmmakers were TOTALLY influenced by Ghibli
-          This is so Castle In The Sky, it hurts
-          “Hang on tight! NOT TO THE PILOT!” – best line in the movie
-          You can’t escape it, Layton. You is a dad
-          DID YOU GUYS NOT SEE LAYTON LAPUTA-ING HIS WAY IN
-          It’s great how all those puzzles seem like they could be ripped straight out of the Layton games, complete with outside-the-box bizarre thinking required to solve em
-          I’m so proud of Luke for solving it!!!!! Such a good boy
-          RUDE
-          Yeah, just stand in the middle of the suspiciously empty room, I’m sure nothing will go wrong
-          That’s what you get for shoving Layton aside, bitches
-          Lol I guess luke could just step through the bars if his head was a bit smaller
-          DESCOLE HOLY FUCK YOU ARE THE KING OF EXTRA
-          “humble scientist” GOOD GRIEF WHAT A LOAD OF SHIT YOU DRAMA QUEEN
-          I love that Emmy can FLY A PLANE
-          Holy shit grosky there are better ways to signal for help
-          And LESS GROSS WAYS TO DRY YOURSELF OFF IN A PLANE
-          Yeah, see, you lost your knickers
-          Ugh, god. I adore this scene with Layton in Melina’s room. It’s so quiet, the soft evening lighting… aaaaaaaaaaah so peaceful, but you can still feel the tension in the air, especially after Melina comes in
-          Oh my god, Layton plays like an angel *swoon*
-          The lack of background music in this scene is what makes it so perfect, the tension is so REAL
-          Lol I love the historian just standing there like ‘welp there they go’
-          NOOOOOOOOO LUKE DON’T CRY
-          BIG SIS IS HERE
-          Oh fuck yes
-          EMMY I LOVE YOU
-          God she and grosky are so fantastic XD
-          WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO FIGHT LIKE THAT EMMY
-          Somehow emmy gives me Michelle of the Resistance vibes
-          God, I kinda love it when you can tell Layton’s already put it all together and is just biding his time
-          AAAAAAAAAAH I love the subtle resemblance between Layton and what you can see of Descole’s face
-          In hindsight, that… stole? Is that what it is? The fur thing isprobably to hide his face shape because it most likely ups his resemblance to Layton
-          But he’s totally wearing black converse like the extra hipster nerd he is
-          God, I can’t even imagine the nightmare of having your memories overridden and personality suppressed
-          Aaaaaaaaaaaand here’s the summation. I love this part in pretty much every Layton thing
-          “Assisting you was the scientist, Jean Descole!” Descole: lol hi
-          LAYTON YOU ARE SUCH A DAD I LOVE YOU
-          Him being gentle with kids is so sweet
-          Also damn this backstory is a lot. I can’t imagine the pain of losing a loved one, but I’m not surprised a father would do anything he could to keep his daughter alive
-          “When did you realise I was involved” “ur an extra bitch who lives for drama, who else could it be”
-          That brief bit of Luke without his hat just makes him look even more BABY BOI MUST PROTECC
-          Okay real talk when did Janice get hold of the key
-          I’m guessing it was in the commotion when Mr Whistler grabbed Luke
-          SUCH A GOOD TWIST I LOVE IT
-          My heeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaart goddammit
-          In hindsight, the hint of Janice wearing Melina’s pendant was really subtle and clever
-          GODDAMMIT DESCOLE CAN YOU STOP BEING EXTRA FOR LIKE TEN SECONDS
-          It’s kinda cool that he’s an archaeologist too though. It really does run in the family.
-          The way Descole and Whistler’s schemes intertwined was really cool
-          Yeah, it just wouldn’t be Descole if there wasn’t some over-the-top machinery
-          YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS MAGIC MUSIC THIS IS MY SHIT
-          When escaping from a crumbling castle, do be sure to grab your boy.
-          AAAAAAAAAGH THE SCENERY IN THIS MOVIE IS SO FUCKING GOOD
-          Good lord, there it is. Descole just can’t function unless he has some ridiculous Humongous Mecha at his command
-          This thing looks especially monstrous and I love it
-          I don’t think I’ve seen ANY faults in this movie’s animation, jesus Christ
-          Descole, did you learn nothing from the attempted excavation of Troy? It’s very possible that your efforts to unearth Ambrosia will be what destroys it!
-          Aaaaaaaagh this flying scene is intense as FUCK
-          Layton and Luke are SUCH A GOOD TEAM
-          WHAT IS THIS MUSIC I LOVE IT
-          Luke you are SUCH A GOOD BOY
-          Sorry but you’ll never be mob tho
-          Mob is perfection
-          JESUS CHRIST DESCOLE ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL A CHILD
-          I was about to ask where that explosion came from but then I realised it was probably a petrol-powered chainsaw
-          Layton who told you that you could look this goddamn epic
-          But I love that he’s taking on the sword-armed Descole with a PIPE
-          That footwork tho
-          Layton must be an amazing dancer
-          So cool that he’s patiently explaining why Descole was wrong
-          Sun, stars and sea. I feel like that’s a Dothraki term of endearment meant for oceanfairing
-          MORE MAGIC MUSIC I AM BLESSED
-          AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I LOVE THIS SO MUCH THIS IS THE FUCKING COOLEST
-          I’M SUCH A SLUT FOR MAGIC MUSIC GODDAMMIT AND THIS IS DOUBLE TEAMING ME WITH SINGING AND PIANO
-          I do enjoy that despite its emergence, Ambrosia is still partially submerged. Some movies would’ve had it rise from the sea completely
-          Lol at Descole losing his shit because SOMEONE ELSE found the answer
-          Yeah, bad idea attacking someone right on top of your humongous mecha’s control panel
-          “DESCOLE!” dude he’s fine you really think he’d die
-          I was going to ask why Emmy didn’t use her plane but she probably couldn’t get to it in time
-          Yeah, this is SO Ghibli. The gigantic industrialised machine self-destructing on the ruins of an ancient civilisation lost to nature
-          Noooooooooo don’t do this to me movie, nothing kills me like sad flashbacks
-          Ow my heart
-          This hurts
-          “I’m sorry, Father. I’ve only ever brought you grief and sadness, haven’t I” as someone who’s struggled with depression this is a whole-ass mood
-          NO THIS HURTS STOP IT
-          Also the lil detail of Whistler’s waistcoat being the same shade of purple as Melina/Janice’s dress
-          NOOO DON’T MAKE LUKE SAD
-          “I’m so glad all of you were my very last memory.” Damn that line hits hard
-          GIVE THE GIRL A HUG, LAYTON
-          I said a hug, not a hand on the shoulder, she needs a HUG
-          Seeing the destroyed detrogan really hammers it home, huh
-          It’s very kind of Grosky to let Whistler play one last time in memory of his daughter
-          When I got into the Layton series, I was no expecting to be hit so hard with the FEELS
-          “Do you know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?”
-          GNU Ambrosia, I guess
-          Ugh it’s so PRETTY tho
-          Fucking sparkles and shit
-          D’awwwww, I love the image of Luke patching up the wolves, he’s so sweet
-          Knowing the truth about Emmy and seeing her being so happy with Layton and Luke makes it really painful :’(
-          The world needs more of Layton with a big, happy smile
-          Awww, Author Lady and Pumpkin Dude kept in touch
-          GROSKY GOT HIS UNDIES BACK
-          Ugh seeing Layton and Luke peacefully listening to that music is SO CUTE and SOFT

The left and giving up ground
This one is walking on egg shells but I think a lot of the online left has a problem with surrendering ground for a number of reasons.
Maybe a leftist figure made a bad take online.
A concept or idea that was once shared by a tinted figure, then people view the idea as tinted by association.
Tumblr media
Or standard “Well I don't like the tendency of X leftist TIME FOR HOT TAKES AND EPIC DUNKS!”
You see it all the time with online discourse and it's a complete horrors-show much of the time. Now before anyone puts words in my mouth, this isn't advocating for figures to be immune to criticism, bad ideas not to get debunked or even to silence discussions.
But just because someone undesirable touched the toolbox one time does not mean we need to throw the entire toolbox in the bin and salt the earth.
When it comes to dunking on things you don't like or the shit throwing discourse that comes after something messed up happens, there is a certain catharsis in it for leftists and it can come off as a shotgun blast to the face rather than getting a surgeon in to carefully operate.
One example I want to use is left-tube or bread tube whatever you desire to call it.
Breadtube has had controversies around it, content creators tweeting out really terrible takes on twitter or sometimes making content that is dubious when they are expected to hold the role of educators.
And they should be held to account when they do questionable things, the entire “Everything I don't like is cancel culture” seems to be a get out of jail free card to avoid said criticism.
But you often here “Breadtube is garbage” “Fuck leftube, delete your accounts, log off, go away.”  H OT T A K E S from online leftists because of these incidents and it comes off as very reductive at best.
Tumblr media
I get it, there have been leftist figures who have said and done annoying crap or even had a fair share of YIKES moments and as I've stated these incidents should be criticized and the people who put that content out pulled aside and talked too if they are willing to listen.
But I think “Thrash left tube” Or “Bin this tool because a problematic person used it once” is not a good look for us because it advocates giving up ground and ignores the positives that have been done with these platforms and tools.
Oh and I don't think BREAD TUBE WILL CRUSH THE RIGHT AND SAVE THE WORLD ALL HAIL THE GREAT THOUGHT LEADER MAN! Fuck no and you shouldn't put people on a pedestal but it's a tool in a toolbox, one of many tools that has use in our arsenal and we should view it as that.
Look the youtube algorithm is radicalizing alienated people, the mainstream media is under the iron grip of neo-liberal thinking and online media is a mix of fascist content, gateway drugs or conspiracy websites so pushing back against that is a good thing and in some cases has worked.
youtube
We shouldn't underwrite the good leftist content creators have done(Helping people out of fascism, the Mermaids charity stream and a number of other things), we can still hold them to account if they fuck up but I think “Bin left tube” just makes me sigh sometimes and comes off as babbys first twitter dunk.(There’s also that leftist youtubers aren’t a blob entity and you underwrite smaller leftist voices too by acting like everyones in a hive mind clique)
And this isn't just content creation or information but other things I've noticed leftist throw away because someone they didn't like shared it once or a gross figure who was outed supported the same thing therefore its “Tinted now”
In the end this surrenders ground to the right who know how to game things. Posting “UwU” memes on social media or lol epic hot take isn't going to stop fascism nice as it would be. We need a well equipped tool box and yes sometimes the tools might break, sometimes a shithead might use one of them but don't throw it away.
Pursuing perfection and purity is a fools errand and no matter how cathartic it makes you feel personally it is a scorched Earth tactic.
Tumblr media
There is a god damn fascist international at the door, TERFs have become more energized and well funded by right wing interests. Fascists, TERFs and other hate groups have the ears of governments, media orgs and more. We don’t have the time to be messing around because the alternative is we get killed and your hot takes or bitching on twitter isn’t going to prevent that.
So maybe get off the arm chair, stop trying to destroy your own apparatus and tools. Learn some skills, do some activism, get involved more with the left IRL and learn to be good neighbors.
We’re not always going to see eye to eye, people in our spaces will sometimes fuck up and yes THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE when they do but it doesn’t mean salt the Earth ether.
If that does not sell you then here’s another example.
You know what game I love and many others still love?
Minecraft!
Tumblr media
But you know what else? Enjoying the smash hit computer video game minecraft does not mean you also have to support Notch.

Okay, so I started out with some pretty touchy subjects huh? Yea, I know, I be like that sometimes.... If you knew my story you'd overstand why and how I am the way that I AM. You know, not beating around the bush, telln it like it is, with 0 inhibitions....
Now as for this next one, depending on where you are in life, this will either inspire you, or provide you with affirmation....
Lets get right to it....
How many times have you been in situations that seemed to consume you with hurt, pain, or may even just moments of uncertainty, (maybe now is one of those times for some)... but whether past or present... Im sure you know that hard times do not last always....
In fact Id like to think that if you truly took a moment and reflected, that you'll see that not only do they not last always, but you've come through the other side of negativity in some pretty divine manners....
Imagine getting off of work late headed home on what everyone within a 30 mile radius knows to be the busiest stretch of freeway, with what seems to be the go to route of choice for amateur nascar drivers..... and yes other than the street lights its pitch black... you're in your humble cash car tired and just ready to make it home to wind down for a peaceful close of the evening. Focused indeed you are, then the unexpected occurs.....you're pressing the gas but rather than maintaining speed, your humble ride begins to clearly do the very polar opposite and slow down.... oh, and unless you forgot, as you're in your own personal bubble with your car slowing down... you my beloved are still very much so on the amateur nascar drivers route of choice. So all the while you're in your predicament, to compound of the nervousness and bout of anxiety that you're experiencing, those nascar drivers are most definitely whizzing up on your rear and getting over at what appears to be the last second, and zooming by you left and right.... ok yea... so now you're panicking..... because although I got you to imagine a freeway, you're actually, positively, most definitely on a tollway with absolutely no true shoulder and only a handful of exits....
at this point, you're like.... o... m... g.... SCREAMING...panicking, frantically CALLING ON THE MOST HIGH AT the top of your lungs... with the occasional blaring of your horn to alert the speedy gonzales...zes coming up behind you...
legit freaking out...
so yea.. you're car is really showing out in the most lame way possible... you're not certain what the outcome will be... you start navigating over lanes hoping for an exit to come up... begging and pleading for your safety.... just as your car is about to totally stop, low and behold your pleads were answered.... an exit is within sight... you make your way to the exit and miraculously your car has just enough left in it to coast UP THE HILL of the exit to a complete stop.... like.. it was not going to go any further... what so ever...
at this time you are finally relieved of all panicky and scared feelings and immediately give all praises and thanks for the miracle that just occurred,...
after you have a moment to recoup... you begin to call on who you think you can call on.... without going into specifics 3 calls later you're sol stuck like chuck... so you sit and contemplate with your hazard lights on...
but WAIT, what.. what is that you see? is that... is that another miracle creepin up on you?
Why yes, I think it is...Its a good Samaritan... hmmm... whadaya know... its a freeegn tow truck driver....
Now, based on the details presented thus far, you got off work late (more than likely to get in that OT), rollin in a cash car... and another key detail, you had to call people to see if you could get some help... Sherlock Holmes at that point can tell you... you aint really got no funds on ya at the moment.. ok.. lol
Now the tow truck driver is not just a tow truck driver but indeed a good Samaritan, because after explaining your situation... he on gp takes your word that upon taking you over 20-30 min away to your house (in the hood mind you!) someone will be there to meet y'all and pay for his services... c’mon nah!! lol (btw... you're a petite 20 smthn melanated lady, and hes a 40-50 smthn caucasian gentleman)
So you both have a lovely chat on the way... and while you're thanking him, you're still simultaneously feeling so much gratitude for divine intervention.
You both arrive at your destination, and not too long after here comes mom to pay and thank the gentlemen that came out of nowhere to help her baby girl....
That my perusers, is but 1 example of my many experiences confirming divine triumph/intervention over unwanted/unexpected trial....and yes the others I've been seen through have been just as interesting and amazing...
I’m hoping that as I've learned to do (if you're not already doing so), that everyone who comes across this blog, and this post in particular considers choosing to live gratefully, and expectant of good... not blindly... but as a matter of fact and certainly...
I know I can not be the only one that has lived through/witnessed miracles/divine protection/direction... (actually I know for fact I’m not, because I’ve shared this story with other people and they have in turn shared with me their experiences.)
So whether you're in a good space or are presently going through some thangs...please always take moments to reflect on what you have overcome.. and use that as fuel to keep you assured and motivated.
...and when ever you get the opportunity to be a good Samaritan , I hope you seize it.  (or even share your stories to help inspire another who may be feeling down about a situation)

Do not stint in your labor in this direction. And when you have succeeded you will discover that you can now effect your own legislation at will and you can, by careful organization, by constant campaigns about the terrors of society, by pretense as to your effectiveness, make the capitalist himself, by his own appropriation, finance a large portion of the quiet Communist conquest of that nation.” “The Jewish people as a whole will be its own Messiah. It will attain world dominion by the dissolution of other races, by the abolition of frontiers, the annihilation of monarchy, and by the establishment of a world republic in which the Jews will everywhere exercise the privilege of citizenship. In this new world order the Children of Israel will furnish all the leaders without encountering opposition. The Governments of the different peoples forming the world republic will fall without difficulty into the hands of the Jews. It will then be possible for the Jewish rulers to abolish private property, and everywhere to make use of the resources of the state. This is what is happening in Syria today. Assad did not want a private Central Bank in his country, but relented to try to keep the peace. Didn't work out for Assad because the Jew Banksters were not happy - now they want two very profitable pipelines run through Syria. Also, North Korea doesn't want a Rothschild Central Bank and neither does Iran. The Jew Bankers are chomping at the bit to start a war with these two countries in the near future. Change, Renew and Rejuvenate: Spark renewed with Autism, Substance abuse and Down’s Syndrome
Two days ago, we our lecturer organised guest speakers to come and talk to us about the three conditions above, this was done to give us a new perspective on these conditions from people who have them and from volunteers who have worked with them for years.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
https://actioninautism.org.za/
The link above is a website for an organisation called action in autism, we had a privilege of having volunteer from the organisation to come and speak to us about the organisation, what they do, her experiences (since she also has a son with autism) and what Autism actually is from her years of experience. I must say I had one or two of my perceptions change especially with the intervention I would give and the goal I would try to achieve, at the end of her presentation she Quoted Jim Sinclair who is an activist for autism (please see Quote below) these words have stuck with me and completely change how I view clients not only with autism but with psycho-social conditions as well.
"Autism isn't something a person has, or a shell that a person is trapped inside. There's no normal child hidden behind the autism. Autism is a way of being. It is pervasive; it colours every experience, every sensation, perception, thought, emotion and encounter - every aspect of existence. It is not possible to separate the autism from the person – and if it were possible, the person you'd have left would not be the same person you started with."  Jim Sinclair
We also had a guest who was diagnosed with ASD and I must admit, this was my favourite part of the day and not because he said that he had the best experiences with OT from childhood LOL but he gave us his story from childhood his experiences good and bad, how the health professionals should treat him and how the society should also and the most amazing part is the independence he achieved even though it took him years of therapy, he is going to England next year to live alone and work as an IT since he is a “computer geek”. It’s happy endings like these that make you want to wake up and do it again to help people. What I took away from him is that as a therapist I need to be more patient especially with children because he said he never wanted the OT to touch her or let her do anything to him and with him if his mom was not around, he used the words “kicking and screaming” and boy that sounded too familiar… Now he said a lot of things that really helped, and I’ve seen/experienced before such as coping strategies, triggers therapy that I think deserve its own page.
Substance abuse
Now if you’ve been reading my previous blogs then you would know that I am at a rehabilitation centre for substance abuse and most of my blogs have been based on my experiences there and with that said I won’t say much about it but the presentation from the social worker, is it horrible to say that I learnt a few things about how the facility actually operates even though I’ve working there for a few weeks? We also had a speech from one of my Colleague’s client which was very nice showing us how far he has come.
Down’s Syndrome
We had one Dr from the Down’s syndrome association who has been working as a volunteer for over a year which just shows you passion, they have issues of funding but her plans for the organisation are amazing and will be very beneficial for the client’s, I think she’s an OT at heart because she mentioned how there’s a committee that has stared working on funding issues and she turned down the salary because she wants a skills workshop to be implemented which will change the client’s lives as they would have work and be able to go out and work as well thus improving their independence. Below is the link of the association.
http://www.downsyndrome.org.za/main.aspx?artid=32
These were lovely sessions and a lot of students engaged more by asking questions which is different from when there’s lectures. My class has kings and queens of complainers but during this session no one complained about time and wanting a break which also shows interest and how you can never go wrong with doing something that you enjoy and are passionate about. I have attached the website for anyone to look them up and maybe do volunteer work because that would be very good for these organisations which do amazing work.

""Why do libs think health care is a right? What next, car insurance? How about free food for everyone?""
Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of 'Free' Health Care Every new 'right' the U.S. government has promised has turned into a massively expensive failure, yet the media continue to cheer supporters of tax-funded programs. Americans are obsessed with rights. We always have been. But the concept of rights our forefathers laid out in the Declaration of Independence has changed dramatically. Those rights  life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness  were acknowledged to come from the Almighty, given equally to all people. Todays rights come from Almighty Government. Health care is the newest right. From presidential candidates universal plans to the return of HillaryCare to Michael Moores movie Sicko, its all over the media. Calling it a right is an emotional argument advanced by those who want others to pay for their health care. They bring out the children and ask whether anyone can deny them the basic human right of health care  but dont bother with the evidence showing how health care in this country would be harmed by government control. A look at other modern rights might give us a clue about how well a new system would work. These rights started out as privileges, among them education and a paid retirement. Now education is not only considered a right, its a mandate. How well has it worked? American students attend school at least until their teen years, but 15-year-olds ranked 24th out of 29 countries in aptitude for real-life math problems, according to The Washington Post. Literacy surveys suggest one in five American adults is functionally illiterate. And taxpayers keep shelling out money to fund the system. Americans also cherish the right to retire  but we expect to be supported in our old age. Younger workers and employers are forced to support retirees, funding another right. And how well has that worked? The poorly designed, outdated Social Security system is disintegrating rapidly as the number of retirees balloons. But once youve established a right, its difficult to take it away. The government, which promises such rights, must go to its sugar daddy  taxpayers  to keep the rights coming. Were already well on our way toward the health care right/mandate. Want to be more like Canada? Its not that far off. Catos Michael Cannon has pointed out that third parties in America pay 86 cents of every dollar of our health care  about the same as Canadas socialized system. What we  or rather, those third parties  pay for health care is already determined by the government as well. Emory University medical professor Robert Swerlick has noted that the pricing of medical care in this country is either directly or indirectly dictated by Medicare. This market meddling even causes doctor shortages, he says, in needed areas of specialty. Prescription drugs are already considered a right, thanks to political moves like the Medicare drug benefit and massive media support. A Business & Media Institute study found broadcast journalists treating prescription drugs as though they grew on trees. Overall, the coverage supported the idea that medications should magically be available to everyone at far lower costs. Of course, the magic behind new rights is your money. Cannon and fellow Cato expert Michael Tanner explained problems with tax-funded care in their book Healthy Competition: Whats Holding Back Health Care and How to Free It. If health care is guaranteed to everyone, how much does everyone get? Who decides who receives what, and how would the care be administered? What happens if everyone wants the most expensive treatment available? With the wide variety of medical tests and treatments that consumers may claim as their right, someone at some point must decide where the right to health care ends, lest the nation be bankrupted, they wrote. Were well on our way toward that as well. Our rights to Social Security and Medicare devour about 40 percent of the federal budget. State and local property tax revenue, which normally funds education, mushroomed about 35 percent between 2000 and 2005, according to the Tax Foundation. We cant afford any more rights like that. But the left says tax-funded care is right for the children. Meanwhile, what becomes of them? Theyre growing up in an America where the rights mentality is deeply ingrained, and the media continue to feed them with it. When the children come of age, perhaps theyll want the right to a job. They wont remember that France already tested that idea for us, and it led to high unemployment and rioting. Perhaps theyll guarantee Disney vacations for all families and force childless Americans to pay for it. The pursuit of will conveniently fade away as they look to government to guarantee happiness. They will know less and less of a true right  liberty  and have no idea where it comes from.""

Cheap insurance for someone who had foreign licence?
Do you know any insurance company which will insure a small van (suzuki carry), and will recognise my previous 8 years driving experience in Australia? I have only just got around to getting a British licence (as the road rules and driving standards are similar, I can just trade my Australian one in, no test), and been living in the UK just over a year. What would happen if a car insurance policy gets canceled to nonpayment?
Okay so my car insurance is with geico and my monthly is 157.90 per month liability. & I'm in college and I had a issue with my financial aid and my mother doesn't have any money as well. They gave me up until tomorrow (September 22) before they drop me. I really like them because they said my rates would go down quicker by using them. So I was wondering what would happen when I get the money and able to pay them. Would my rates go up? Would I have to do a new 6 month policy? Would I even be eligible to reopen a policy with them?
Flipping Cars - Insurance?
A few friends and I are looking into flipping cars while we're in college to make a little extra money. I'm not sure where to turn as far as insurance goes. We're not driving the vehicles ourselves - just parking them until they sell. What kind of coverage would we need and where can we find the best rates for our situation? We would only drive it from the auction house and with potential buyers on test drives. Thanks for the help!

Help with Car Insurance/License!?!?
Okay, so I'm a 17 year old girl in michigan. I am planning to take my road test soon and then get my license. I have divorced parents and my grandfather on my moms side is going to buy me a car and keep it in his name. He is going to put me as the primary driver on this car and pay for the insurance. However; I live with my dad and therefore my address on my license will be at my dad's house, since you have to have proof of residency when you go to secretary of state. My dad has been extremely annoying about this situation, saying that his car insurance will go up since I live here, so I need to know if it will or not. The people I have talked to so far say that it won't since I am not a driver on his car or his wife's. I've been wanting to get my license so I can get a job and whatnot for over a year now, so please help me with your experience. Thank You :)""

Does defective equipment increase insurance rates?
I live in Virginia and it's time to renew my auto insurance policy by the end of this month with Progressive, and I've got a Defective Equipment charge coming back from 3/8/2010 causing my rates to go up. I am not sure why this is causing my rates to go up because its not a moving violation and it carries no demerit points with DMV, its simply an equipment charge. The charge is vague and could mean anything really...from a taillight out, to a hanging exhaust, to a bent wheel, to even a headlight out. I'm going back and forth with the insurance company about this because its rediculous that this kind of charge would cause an increase in my rates. They stated that this info came from a C.L.U.E. report...I know what a C.L.U.E. report is and its pretty much a bunch of reports in one including my Motor Vehicle Report, which is where they are getting the Defective Equipment . I spoke with a lawyer that I know from a few years back on a seperate traffic case, and he even mentioned that he thinks it's a lie to have rates go up for this sort of charge. He also advised to look for different insurance which I would rather not do, simply because it does not seem right and if they raise my rates for it, then they are raising other peoples rates who have the same charge Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.""

""What's the difference in the government requiring you to buy health insurance, and car insurance?""
________________________________ Okay, I don't think I got my question across last time. My last question I also said: Some state, maybe all, require you to buy car insurance. So, what's the difference between those two? The government is requiring you to buy something. I disagree with ObamaCare, but I also disagree with Car Insurance, but why aren't people getting all bent out of shape out that? __________________________________ To add on to that: I understand driving a car is a privildge, but I don't understand why I am required to buy car insurance for owning a car. I feel like that would be saying you have to buy fire insurance for you house because you might catch someone else's house on fire. But, what if you are a good driver and don't wreck, why are you still required to buy insurance? I don't see the government telling me what I need to buy and what I don't buy when I own something. I can understand the danger to others, but insurance doesn't make a driver better or worse. If you are a bad driver you need insurance to cover your bad driving, but if your a good driver why do you still need insurance?""

How do I talk to my dad about paying insurance for a car?
I'm a high school senior, preping to head off to a 4-yr. I'm trying my best to save my family money; for example: -AP classes and tests for college credit -Scholarship searching -Spending only $100 on clothes for the last 2 years -Watching my utility/electric use by not watching TV (except the Olympics!) -Taking spring/summer college classes for transferable credit (in fact, I could have graduated and received my HS diploma at the end of my Jr. year). -Getting decent grades (had a 4.2gpa this past year, my Fr. and Soph. years were not that good) So, if you add it up, I think it would be a few thousand $ that would have been otherwise spent on tuition, some amount of utility bills, and some amount on clothing. For my senior year, I plan on doing a lot of extracurricular activities so I can get into a decent university, my plan is UC Davis. I'm a cross-country runner for my HS, I plan on doing a hospital volunteer program, I am in my HS's Mock Trial team. So, I would be out and about for most of the week going to different activities. I feel I need a way of transportation instead of relying on my brother and parents. Speaking of which, my brother has a car because he goes to a community college (and for that reason, he is mature?). Now the problem: my dad feels that I am too young for a car and does not feel that I am responsible and mature enough to handle one alone without supervision. My mom is willing to buy a car for me, with a reasonable price range. But my dad does not want to pay for car insurance. My parents are divorced, and I do most of the communication between them, especially when it comes down to needing money. I have brought up the aspect of working part-time. But my parents tell me that I should focus on school. My dad tells me I should focus on school instead of a car, but I need that car so I can get to where I need to be. My dad works from 9am-7pm, so I have no way of getting to 5pm practice or getting to school at 6am unless I rely on my dad. I understand how much stress my dad goes through supporting 4 children, two of which are about to go to college... It hurts when I have to ask him for money, even to pay for SATs and AP tests... Although essential, they still cost a lot of money, and money is tight now. With $65 per college app and college apps coming up in November, I'm going to be applying to nearly 10 schools, so over half a thousand dollars thrown away as my dad states it when I asked him to pay for my second SAT. My dad will pay for my academic needs, but he won't be happy about it. It feel as though my academic potential is being held back by how much money we have. I feel bad when I succeed now, basically. So I try my best to save money, like I gave examples of above. But now, I am only 1 step away from getting being independent, transportation-wise. All I need is my dad to agree to pay for my car insurance, which is probably about $200/month. Is that selfish of me? If not, how do I talk him into paying that $200/month, or to show him that I am mature enough to drive myself around? By the way, this was a long rant because I have been thinking and stressing about this all summer.""
