Just something I'd like to say about the Stan twins among other things I've seen here on tumblr and everywhere else. Also because I'm genuinely confused why this is even a thing. I don't really see the point in why people have to look at characters and say: good/bad, nuances exist and morality is mostly grey haha.

One of the reasons why I chose to write for Ford isn't really because I don't think he's a bad person, au contraire I know he's done really shitty things but I don't think he's bad. That would be an oversimplification.

If I had to be completely open about it, his situation is actually pretty similar to mine aside from the fact his sibling is a twin. My brother is two years younger than me.

But still, shit happens. Cornered by everyone and everything, one is labeled as gifted and special while the other is seen as stupid and useless, then the split between family and aspiration.

Granted, I've never made a deal with a demonic piece of geometry and I've gone through a different set of circumstances in a completely different time frame– but still. I get where his arrogance comes from and I get how being outcasted can make you prone to doing a lot of shitty things to chase validation.

God forbid someone comes to you and strokes your ego to death, that's the easiest way to manipulate someone with the picture of self-confidence and it's made of glass.

I can't say that what happened to me was a fortunate occurrence, but I was severely humbled at a young age and it's probably why I turned out differently. Ford never really did, he clung onto the idea of being special and being a coveted rarity.

Point is, I can kind of see where he's coming from and a lot of his fights with Stan I also kind of understand. I'm not condoning his actions, especially because I've had legendary fights with my brother before and remembering them all makes me feel like shit because there are things I've done I can never bring myself to forgive– but it's why I can understand why shit unfolded the way it did.

I'm not even going to go into grudges because I've held a grudge over someone for 12 years so I can also get why Ford would end up doing that for fucking 30– but yeah. I don't think either twin is really right or wrong. Stan got dealt a bad hand like my brother, and Ford got shoved into the limelight like me. I can understand the both of them well.

Also to those who wonder why Stan would even forgive Ford, I don't know what else to say other than it might be a sibling thing. I used to fight with my brother simply because he'd excel better in some of the things I do. I'd purposefully work harder to overshadow him and he knew. He would let me succeed and even rub it in his face because he saw that it made me happy.

Even after all this time he doesn't hold it against me so that's something I'm eternally grateful for. But yeah, he cared that much when all I did was be selfish. I still think it depends on some siblings but yeah, for these two they hit close to home just for doing what they do.

Not to mention, my brother's also had his moments where it looks like he's destroyed my things/projects on the sole reason that he thinks it's taking me away from him. That it's taking his best friend away from him.

One of those times was when I was creating a painting for a competition years ago, he got mad I spent so much time on it and accidentally knocked over the water container and it spilled all over my work. The painting was effectively ruined and I blew up at him for it.

Sound familiar?

Where Stan played off his destruction, my brother kept apologizing and owning up to his fuck-up. Where Ford refused to listen, I eventually just compromised with my brother and told him to help me create the new painting.

That painting didn't win any prizes but still ended up being exhibited, I'd show a picture of it with my brother and I next to it if I didn't like keeping my irl family private online.

Ford also being kind of unable to move on/deal with himself is something I do to detriment. It takes a lot to deal with that, much more overcome it.

Things change, time passes, circumstances shift. But yeah, this is just my two cents on it and kind of a window to why I also write Ford and Stan the way I do.

@shakti-tiger I think a big part of the issue is people thinking Neil Gaiman has already 'stepped down.' That is not the current state of the situation, but if you imagine the perspective of a person starting from that premise you can see why it might not feel necessary to put the removal demand in the petition.

And yes, that's extremely frustrating, but it is not the same as people not caring. It's people being manipulated by a person who seems to have built his character sheet around manipulating people.

So for people not following developments closely:

What we know is that Gaiman's lawyers have informed the media that he has put forward a hypothetical version of 'stepping back' that he is willing to accept. We don't know much about the specifics, but I have a speculative impression. If his terms were acceptable to Amazon / the Pratchett Estate / the other employees of the show, I would expect us to have heard so by now. We have not, so I feel it is reasonable to conclude that what he is proposing is, for whatever reason, not an acceptable offer.

We also don't have anything saying he has been fired from any of his positions. Entertainment contracts almost always have morality clauses that can be enforced even in the absence of convictions. That's because even if it was the sort of crime that reliably produces convictions, that process takes years, and the industry wants the power to be able to respond to public scandal quickly when they decide it is profitable to do so.

Given that we have no indication that Amazon is accepting Neil's offer, or any indication that a morality clause has been enforced on Gaiman, my impression is that there is an ongoing dispute where Gaiman is threatening some form of retaliation against the show if they enforce the morality clause in order to try and bargain for some kind of wishy washy partial but not meaningful reduction of his role.

If that's what's happening, it is mostly going to be in the hands of various legal teams involved, arguing over semantic details we may never learn about. However, I still think fandom can add support to the 'enforce the morality clause' side by expressing that wish to Amazon, either through the petitions that cite the allegations, or if you have Prime, by cancelling along with a message that states you will reactivate when Gaiman is removed. (Or when the show is cancelled if that is your line.) Personally I think removal is the better option for long term industry reform.

I am committed to not promoting the show by making fan content during the run-up and release of Season 3 (and probably for a year or so after) unless he is publicly removed for morality clause violations. There are actual material reasons that represents A CHOICE on my part. I had a lot of concerns that I was going to end up overpromising and underdelivering on fan content, though I never expected this to be the reason why. 100% I stand by the choice I'm making to pause Good Omens fan content, but I recognize for a lot of artists it really is not an easy choice to make. I will always be against any form of harassment towards people continuing to make fan works.

@chocolatepot at the same time it is very difficult to organize boycotting efforts off a platform of 'everyone's choices are equally valid.' The people with the most power to be heard by Amazon are the ones with Prime who are in a position to strategically drop it. Put together a Ven diagram of "people deeply committed to voting with their dollar for social justice" and "people who have an Amazon Prime account they aren't particularly dependent on keeping." How much overlap do you think there is in the middle of that Ven Diagram? Not a lot. A meaningful organized effort would require persuading people to make choices they are not inclined to make, and that does require at some point suggesting that making a different choice is less than ideal.

For people who already don't have Prime or can't cancel because they need it for work, fan engagement is the option that's left. But it's going to be a similar issue with fan works. The artists, writers, shitposters, ect… that have the most influence are also the ones most entrenched into continuing to make their content, in many cases as their form of income. In many cases as their form of social support in the midst of their own ongoing harrowing life circumstances.

I don't come away from this with any clear position on what level of persuasive language is appropriate for organizing action, but I want to encourage everyone to be kind to each other, and consider where others are coming from. Right now I think focusing on keeping people informed that Gaiman has not actually been removed is the best way to go.

...depending on factors I might keep going after part 5? Like maybe Purple or something? But uhh anyways...

Okay, so Yellow is essentially the resident "nerd" of the group. He likes redstone, command blocks, strategy games, and coding. He canonically has glasses as well (when his face is visible), and he is quick to implement his ideas, especially during battle.

Examples:

He was quick to throw his staff at the minimize button because he understood where Greenscreen was getting his power from.

He was quick to begin making a plan to escape the piglins (whereas Blue froze instead - check part 1).

Yellow is someone that can understand what needs to be done and do it efficiently.

But, er, sometimes...

...he can get carried away. His inventions and mind can get away from him sometimes and cause consequences for him and his friends. Prime examples of this are the lucky block episode - (he literally got POSSESSED because he took apart a lucky block and used the glowing magic orb thingy to make gifts for his friends) and the Actual Short: Upgrade, where his invention essentially destroyed their house.

But now I kind of want to talk about more recent occurences with Yellow. As most of us know, there was a comment on one of Green's vids that said that Yellow had lackluster acting, and another one saying he was useless in the skit, both hearted by Green. In my opinion, the "useless" portion is fine (the comment was probably talking about Yellow's role in the skit), but Green could have responded better to the one about lackluster acting.

And this got me thinking - Yellow's probably really insecure about this kind of stuff. He is already the least popular out of the Color Gang (and Purple, Chosen, Dark, King, and Corn Dog Guy) - I'll explain my theory as to why in a second (hehe).

AND...I've also been seeing a few comments and fanfictions saying Yellow is the "worst fighter" or "least athletic" of the group??? These mostly stem from his kind of unconfident fighting stance in this scene...leading to him getting clapped (even tho everybody got clapped without the weapons).

And now my theory as to why Yellow is liked the least.

In my humble opinion, all four of the fighting quad had roughly around the same in the beginning. Of course, Second is the main character, and he lives up to that title, so he'd obviously have way more fans. But each of RGYB have different personalities that appeal to different segments of the audience.

But we obviously don't like it if our favorite character isn't having screen time or any contribution...and we also don't like it if another character that isn't our favorite is getting more screen time. Like Yellow in Animator vs Animation.

He's the one who hacked into Dark's computer and brought Alan's cursor to the Outernet, and kept a level head while everyone else was freezing.

And he's the one being wanted by Rocket Corp, while the other three were cast aside. He has a larger role in AvA than Red or Green or Blue, and I think many of us kind of dislike him for that. Heck, when I first watched the Showdown, I disliked it slightly as well.

Alex gets super jealous. Stereotypical jock jealous. He wouldn’t be horrible about it though. It’s just in his nature, you’re his partner and he just kinda wants to keep you to himself. 

He knows it’s not feasible but whenever you’re off doing tasks for the townsfolk, he wishes you were next to him. Especially if the townsfolk was male. Would be a grumpy old man about it.

If you were out and about with him, he’d place an arm around your waist or shoulder. Otherwise he’d go on a run to clear his head and then give you the biggest hug when you get back in.

Elliott wouldn’t get jealous too often. He’s not really the jealous type. Not in the relationship anyway.

What would make him a teeny bit jealous would be if you were swooning over a new writer that happened to be super hot. Like he’s all down for you reading and liking novels and then you turn up to a book signing with Elliott and he’s like OH NO THEY’RE HOT! Just a teensy bit jealous.

He’d probably not admit it to you because he’d be embarrassed he even felt that way but you’d definitely catch him pouting.

This man does not get jealous at all in your relationship. 

The only time he’d feel a pang of jealousy would be when you went to Evelyn for old-timey herbal remedies and teas. It’d be a tiny little pang and then he’d move on. He just wants to bring you tea!!

Harvey would start bringing you teas or buying different ones so you didn’t have to go over. Once he found out that you were still going over, he realised it was for companionship for Evelyn and he felt a bit silly as he looked at the full cupboard of tea.

I kinda headcanon Sam as a lil clingy boi tbh. He’d get jealous often but not in a toxic way at all. It’d not be jealousy in a way where he’s mad or anything. More like whiny lmao. Never gets actually the angry type of jealous. He’s pretty chill.

If you were taking too long by talking to someone, he’d start kinda tugging on your sleeve or grumbling that he was bored.

You’d definitely know if he was jealous, mainly because he’s vocalise it.

Lil grumpy jealous baby. He has really low self-esteem in general and that leads him to be jealous quite a bit.

He’d probably get the most jealous during festivals when everybody is wanting your attention. He’s quite a loner so losing ‘his person’ would be a bit of a bummer for him. He’s not entirely sure if he’s envious that you have so many people who want to talk to you or if he’s jealous of the people who get to speak to you all day.

Sebastian would be quiet about it and try not to let it bother him, even if it’s eating him alive. You’d definitely notice and would, depending on how insecure you thought he was about it, talk to him or give him a super tight hug and remind him you’re his.

Shane would get jealous quite frequently. He would try not to be toxic about it (sometimes is though) and he’d bottle it up, thinking it was his problem.

The most jealous he’d be is when you’re in the saloon and laughing a little too hard at one of the other bachelor’s jokes. He knew you were a bit tipsy but he still felt self-conscious about it.

Shane would bottle it up until it kinda explodes. He’d be a ball of emotions. He’d try not to take it out on you (but might be a bit snappy) and would eventually tell you (after coaxing, he’d be embarrassed for sure).

I'm seeing a lot of people dogpiling the recent reveals about previous game choices, so here's mine.

Tl;dr: People are saying that "oh choices didn't matter that much before in Dragon Age, so why should they matter now" without acknowledging that this is a niche that Bioware has built their entire company on. Long-time fans expect their choices to matter, and this just feels like a kick in the nuts after ten years of waiting.

This fucking blows.

I've known for a while that they weren't going to be using the keep for this instalment, so I knew it was probably only going to be a handful of the important choices from Inquistion, and the identity/status of Hawke and The Warden if we were lucky. But 3? 3 choices feels like a slap in the face.

If I'm optimistic and the romance choice doesn't only matter if you romanced Solas, there's still so much nuance that will be missed out on. We will not get to see the outcome of an Inquisitor who romanced a Cassandra who became Divine, an Iron Bull who stayed loyal to the Qun, or a Blackwall who died with the wardens.

Furthermore, Inquisition was a 100+ game ON TOP OF DLC... you're telling me only 3 choices mattered? The way these choices are set, we aren't getting our Inquisitor. We're getting an NPC who did or did not disband the Inquisition and does/doesn't want to kill Solas. There isn't even a choice that influences the Inquisitor's personality, i.e. "The Inquistor did their best to help people wherever they go/The Inquisitor was a fierce leader of an army of the faithful/The Inquisitor regularly kicked puppies and stole sweeties from children" etc. etc.

So like... what are we getting? The Inquisitor was already a pretty blank slate to begin with. And now we don't even get to colour them with our choices, so seriously, what are we getting here?

I guess it's just really disappointing to see seeing as (in my humble internet opinion) Inquisition handled importing player choices so well. I loved hearing Leliana mention the Hero of Fereldan and her relationship with them, seeing the ruler of Fereldan, seeing Hawke and the differences in their lines depending on which personality you chose.

People often bring up that your choices don't matter that much, and often point to how Leliana can die in Origins WITHOUT MENTIONING THE FACT SHE TALKS ABOUT IT IN INQUISITION. Yes, it's a retcon, but at least it's acknowledged. I personally don't care if people come back to life in my fantasy world with dragons and magic. At least Leliana acknowledges the fact that she was killed.

In summary, I'm very disappointed about this direction Bioware is taking. I'm probably still going to play the game, but I fully understand people who say this is a dealbreaker for them. We waited ten years for the 4th Dragon Age game, and I don't really know if Veilguard is that anymore.

I read about your thoughts regarding Avatar Bolin and it honestly made me very curious as to the potential of what Vaatu could’ve been and then shifted to more questions. What would a Chaos Avatar be like? What would being a Chaos Avatar mean, and/or what would their roles be? How can that work alongside yet still clash with the Balance Avatar (aka the Avatar we know) & benefit the world in the same way balance and harmony does?

Well, that depends how much credit we give Vaatu.

I personally always felt more compelled to see the potential positive of Vaatu. He is described as the Spirit of Darkness and Chaos, but these traits aren't necessarily bad things.

The term 'Darkness' is prerty vague, but assuming it, for example, means darker urges or aspects of personality, that doesn't automatically mean "evil". Darker, negative emotions, reactions and urges are natural and useful in a lot of situations. We just need to know how to keep them in check and when to allow them to thrive.

Take the Spirits for example. One of the effects Vaatu has on them is that they turn "dark". But they also turn dark when they feel threatened, as a method of self defence. Which can definitely relate to how humans need more negative emotions to do things like defend ourselves both physically and emotionally, to set boundaries, etc.

I also theorise that Hei Bai from Atla was also in his "dark" form, due to his grief surrounding the destruction of his forest and lashing out at random people.

"Chaos" is also a term that doesn't have to be negative. Because chaos is sort of just the way of the world. We see it everywhere, in nature, in our everyday lives, in our history and probably in our future. We can try to micromanage every minute little detail of our lives, we can try to never leave anything to chance, but we still are subject to the rng of life.

And that probably can scare a lot of people, so it's no wonder we attribute chaos to the "bad spirit". It's also how irl humans dealt with the randomness of life.

While Raava is the spirit of Light and Peace/Order, which, while sounding very nice on paper can also be negative. Ever heard of "too much of a good thing"? "Good" traits like happiness can become toxic positivity, peacefulness can become passivity and indifference, order can become oppressive.

So it would be quite easy to see Vaatu as less of a Spirit of bad things and more of a spirit of things that humans don't really like. Things and concepts shunned and rejected by society or by humans.

So, where would that leave us with a potential Vaatu based Avatar?

Well, I'm not sure. While the Raava Avatar does have the very vague role of "keeping balance", they don't seem to have a set way of doing so, adapting more to their time period and environment, as well as their own personality.

Like there is a world of difference between Tax Boy Sheto and Aang the Reluctant Child Soldier y'know?

But if I had to guess that the Dark Avatar's goal would be more along the lines of "pushing the world to change and evolve"?

Be it by helping out rebels with a cause that seems just to them, or by working with some type of scientist, or by leading a military, heloing explore new lands... whatever can be described as pioneering, discovering, restructuring, changing, that's where they're at.

So while the Raava Avatar would try to mitigate a conflict completely, the Vaatu Avatar would make a judgement call based more on what they believe would be a more positive change to the world.

Of course, once again, this will probably vary from Avatar to Avatar. Since Raava Avatars have changed the world, by trying ro acheive balance, after all. These concepts will probably mix and vary depending on the individual Avatar's understanding of the concepts.

And whether they work together with or go up against the Raava Avatar depends on both the Avatars too. Their history together, their personalities, the time period they're in and the situation they're dealing with. While they might have diametrically opposed reasons for doing what they do, they still are individuals and they are fulfilling a rather nebulous concept so anything goes ig.

I can also see the Vaatu Avatar being treated with much more disdain and fear than the Raava Avatar, since they are still meant to be the embodiment of darkness and chaos and I think a lot of people would naturally not wanna hang out with you then.

With could kinda tie into their potential relationships with their "better halves". Like "why is the colour our eyes glow such a big deal why does everyone hate me and love you we are both 12 years old and have done nothing to deserve either except harbour spirits within us" or smth.

I can see the White Lotus for example trying to just keep the Vaatu Avatar on lockdown and not let them out ever, because they believe they would throw the world out of balance.

But I think that in this AU, the lack of a Vaatu Avatar could cause society and the world to stagnate and begin to rot as old, outdated ideologies, concepts systems remain rooted into the world, refusing to grow as humans and the world grow.

I think that sometimes people are incredibly cruel without meaning to. That doesn't make their actions better. It doesn't make the hurt less real less vicious less painful. It doesn't make the hurt less valid. Sometimes people are cruel to people they love without meaning to. That's just a part of being human. You cannot go through life without accidentally hurting someone.

People can be cruel without meaning to. That doesn't make them a horrible person. That also doesn't mean they have to be forgiven. I just think it's important to acknowledge that jokes can be made in poor taste without the intent of being cruel whilst still incredibly hurting people.

Went to the doctor just for a check up and he basically just told me "your body just processes sugar very well! :) :) :) It's a good thing! :) :) :) It can't possibly be the source of your symptoms even though eating fixes it :) :) :)" But there was also a moment when talking about my iron deficiency that is possibly one of the funniest things a doctor has ever said to me, up with the cardiologist who said "you're a medical mystery": He was going over my blood test results, and said "Your iron levels haven't gone up at all, they are still extremely low, but you're not anemic anymore" And I was like how am I not anemic anymore??? And he said "Your hemoglobin levels have gone up...somehow..." while frowning at the blood test results on his computer. It was very "somehow, palpatine has returned" lol

our tooth is suddenly a lot more painful again and I don't know why, but I also only had one ibuprofen left so I've just taken that and I guess I have to hope our mum can get us some more before that one wears off because I really want to avoid having to take co-codamol again.

the issue is that we took some ibuprofen earlier and it wore off so quickly I'm not sure we're gonna be able to get away with just using that but I'm gonna feel really shitty if I do end up having to take the co-codamol, and we'd started getting intrusive thoughts about taking it while not actually in pain so I've gotten myself into this ridiculous loop of being like "what if I'm just coming up with an excuse to take it" even though I am in fact in a fuckload of pain now and the other medication isn't helping enough.

it feels like I'm stuck in a situation where my options are once again to either take a medication that I know is fucking me up and it's going to be a nightmare, or deal with being in too much pain to function, so I'm fucked no matter what I do
