i’m tired of having to explain to my friends why i had to make a post basically begging for support while im unable to work because it only makes me more angry every time i do so. like i can’t get short term disability because that’s not a benefit that they offer and even if they did, i would have to pay for that myself in order to get it. i could’ve rolled over my old plan from the previous owner to the new owner and pay for it separately. but the one time i had used it, they put me under illness and not injury (which is what it was. because i injured my foot and couldn’t stand to do my job. i even put it as an injury and they said i lied and changed it) and the payout i got barely covered my bills. i didn’t see a point in continuing to pay for a service that would do that plus it took a full month after i went back to work to even get the payout. the only benefits they offer at 401(k) with them matching, PTO, and health insurance. that’s it. i’m using what’s left of my PTO this week to bulk up my paycheck so i can actually get some kind of money but after that i don’t know when i’ll have a paycheck next. i’m looking for work because i can’t afford not to work. there’s nothing in place to protect the worker at my job in the event of this happening. the only reason im not completely losing my mind is because im still able to get health insurance while im unable to work but that’s not because of them. that’s because of FMLA. if that wasn’t in place, who the fuck knows man

tactiquest structure

so i've posted a lot about tactiquest's classes and monsters and everything on here but i haven't really talked about the non-combat subsystems much yet and i wanted to go into detail about them, bc tactiquest has very different goals from most heroic fantasy systems.

tracking inventory, travel time, worrying about actually running out of your adventuring budget, are things a lot of big-damn-heroes fantasy systems throw out because they're just paperwork that gets in the way of your cool fights. that's not the case in Tactiquest! these systems are so core to the experience that removing them will make a lot of classes unusable. the game is built around them.

travel & exploration

tactiquest explicitly assumes you're running an open-sandbox hexcrawl and is designed to support that, including the fact the game is designed around random encounters. this is the sort of thing D&D 3e expected you to do, but people ditched random encounters because they thought they were boring and tedious. so classes balanced around that attrition of resources ended up with a huge spike in power other classes couldn't match.

the boring-and-tedious problem is mostly addressed by trying to make combat really good and resolve really fast. if i fucked that up the whole thing falls apart, but so far people are liking it

the second thing that helps with random encounters is your resources don't fully restore immediately at the end of each day like they do in 3e. resting is less effective in the wilderness and resources expended are a tomorrow problem, not just a today problem. so you don't have to have 3+ fights every single day just to maintain parity - 0-2 fights per day still adds up to difficult resource management.

because the game has such a focus on it, you can have classes like the ranger actually be good at travel and exploration instead of just giving them vaguely-naturey combat abilities.

economy

in most D&D-likes, even usually OSR ones, you accrue so much gold. just as a side effect of adventuring. to the point money no longer actually matters because you can throw piles of it at any problem. this is bad. it's a system that defeats its own purpose; there are no interesting choices involving money when you have so much the only real expense is like, 50,000-gold-piece magic items.

i don't just want players to care about money, i want them to worry about money, like a normal person. you're not batman who's a billionaire as a side hobby, you're spiderman who has to deliver pizzas in between superhero work because he's got bills to pay like everyone else. so a whole lot of effort has been put into actually designing prices and treasure amounts around this dynamic.

i also hate how games will usually go "oh adventuring gives you 900,000 gold for existing but a normal person's living wage is 2 gold a month". i don't want to be fantasy jeff bezos, thanks

inventory

this is something i just lifted from OSR games outright. you can carry ten things (and tiny things don't take up an item slot). that's the whole rule.

tracking inventory can add a lot of interesting decisions to a game and adds a new lever for abilities from classes and magic items. having a character play the merchant class which gets a bunch of extra inventory slots feels really impactful. finding a bag of holding that doubles your carry capacity feels so good when you actually have to watch your inventory.

supply

the only thing i felt was really unenjoyable when running games with strict inventory limits was tracking rations for each character that you eat every night; it felt too much like busywork with not enough payoff. so in Tactiquest rations are abstracted into a single Supply stat that's tied to the party rather than any individual character.

you can only restock Supply in towns, and it drops by 1 each time you rest. you can sleep without resting and this won't cost supply, but you won't regain any HP or other resources. this gives you the impactful decision-making of tracking rations without the annoyance of "okay it's been a day of travel, everyone make sure you dock a ration from your sheet" like twice per session

Supply is one of the things that slowly drains your funds and gives you a reason to keep seeking out treasure, tying back into the economy. it also gives merchants and rangers some extra mechanical levers for their class abilities to pull on.

I am a loyal subscriber to the school of “Arlecchino thought Furina was a bad god for throwing her people’s lives away carelessly and lying about how powerful she is until Arle finds out the truth post-4.2, that Furina’s charade was not only vital to saving Fontaine but also something that was put upon her and she managed to endure it for 500 years despite only being human, and then Arelcchino is OBSESSED with Furina and goes from 0 to Doting Husband Who Wakes You Up With Kisses And Makes You Breakfast like, overnight.

“After a VERY confusing encounter where Arlecchino brings cake and makes tea at Furina’s new apartment and apologizes for terrorizing her and thanks her for saving Fontaine, Furina breaks down crying and basically wailing about her problems to Arlecchino, who Furina half expects to just turn her back on her at some point or reveal this was all some elaborate trick, but she doesn’t. She listens and she agrees that it was unfair and when Furina doesn’t move away when she gets closer, Arlecchino hugs her and pets her hair and tells her she did well and when Furina’s fully exhausted herself with crying and her voice is raw, Arlecchino picks her up and carries her to bed and tells her to rest. Furina, tired and so relieved to have someone to talk to after so long and scared to be left alone again, asks Arlecchino to stay. Arlecchino promises that she’ll still be there when Furina wakes up, and she keeps this promise.

“Neuvillette and Clorinde are both HORRIFIED when Furina tells them that Arlecchino has been coming around to her apartment a lot in the past couple months. Furina tries to explain that she wasn’t scared of Arle anymore and that she’s had a change of heart, but neither of them believe her and insist on going with Furina to the lunch date she had with Arlecchino that afternoon to protect her. It’s jarring for them seeing the shift, how Furina is suddenly so comfortable sitting next to Arlecchino, how Arlecchino fusses over Furina like she’s adored her for years, Arlecchino placing her jacket over Furina’s shoulders when a chill makes her shiver, the way Furina melts into Arle’s embrace when Arlecchino wraps an arm around her waist, and the way Arlecchino brushes the hair so gently out of her face and kisses the top of her head like she’s the most precious thing in the world.

“Though Clorinde promises to keep an eye on things and keep Neuvillette updated if she finds any suggestion of ill intent, both of them saw how happy Furina was, and they can’t help being tentatively hopeful that Arlecchino truly does intend only to love her from now on. Furina apologizes for springing those two on Arlecchino as Arle walks her home. Arle gently grills her about them, and is ultimately relieved to find out that they’ve also been keeping in touch with Furina and making sure she’s okay. Arlecchino is a possessive lover that doesn’t like sharing, but she hates it even more when she finds Furina all alone, stuck in a depression she can’t get out of by herself and neither of them know how long she’s been like that because Furina’s lost track of time again.

Seeing as Era 0 is getting popular, mainly the Era 0 Ghouls / Nihils Ghouls, because of the animations/MV. So as someone who personally loves the Era 0 Ghouls I want to kindly correct anyone who has mixed the Ghouls elements up. It's easy enough done but I hope this will help people out.

This is Era 0 Fire Ghoul, obviously plays guitar and he does the backing vocals. His guitar is quite close up to his chest, the guitar is also black and white. And he has slick back hair, pretty short. He likes to swing his arm up or around too.

On the left of Nihil.

I personally in my own little Ghost lore his name is Idris, he's fully Fire but I could see people probably making him mix or multi because of him doing backing vocals. That's up to your personal lore.

This is Era 0 bass player or Water Ghoul. He sticks to the right of Nihil and has an all black bass. He too keeps it pretty high up and close to his chest. His hair is longer and very fluffy. He does this sort of half sway dance in Kiss the Go Goat and is always facing the Drummer.

My friend has named this guy Afon, very cool ass name. I love him so much.

Now onto the drummer, Earth of course. He's more so to the right of Nihil but behind him. He's got the longest hair out of eveyone, also seems very greasy. Looks a lot to the Water/Bass Ghoul as well, definitely something going on there.

Short

This guy name given by me and a friend is Bryn.

Lastly is the Air Ghoul, piano. He's to the left behind Fire Ghoul. He seems to be a bit stiff.

He's got curly fluffy hair but it's shorter than the Water Ghouls hair.

Name given to him by my great friend is Awyr.

Me and my friend made ocs of these guys long before anything big happened to them and they was more in the background. All the names are Welsh, just something fun we did.

I don't expect people to use these names I thought I'd just share what we've called them. But maybe people could think outside the box when naming these fellas, no basic water names or such, get creative people, be fun!

Although I may probably be going quite (a bit) too far for saying this - about the people who state this certain thing about Blossomfall, - but-

I honestly think that people who believe that Blossomfall is being immature for being jealous of Briarlight by stating “she’s an adult now, she doesn’t need her mother’s attention and support” just -

Feels like they have at least a bit of a mindset of those type of people who believe that once a teenager turns into a 18 year old, they must AUTOMATICALLY and/or IMMEDIATELY know how to physically, mentally and/or even financially know how to be fully independent and take care of themselves completely alone.

(possibly maybe even having a bit of a similar mindset to some of those parents who kick their child out of the house immediately when they turn 18 years old expecting them to be perfectly fine automatically living on their own (with 0 help?!))

And is someone who just recently turned 18, this belief about recently legal adults is honestly quite untrue.

And is especially true for Blossomfall’s case, considering the fact that she isn’t even moving away to live independently from her family - because she lives within a Clan, which has (at most) around a “small” group of 20-30 people - cats - within it. The place that Blossomfall lives with is the place that she’ll STAY and live within for the entirety of her life, as well living with the people she grew up with - including her mother, Millie.

So the fact that Millie is neglected to see her daughters within a small tightened community - heck, a small tightened group - that they’ll live within for the entirety - or at least, the majority - of their lives, making Millie neglect even MORE impacting and/or noticeable for Blossomfall to experience compared than the average person. Something that’s also hard to ignore when you live and work around and/or with your family members on an everyday basis.

And the fact that Briarlight became disabled when she, Bumblestripe and/or Blossomfall were RECENT adults, making the neglect a bit more impactful, considering the fact it started to occur when Blossomfall was only JUST legally came out of teenage-hood and occurred when she was still quite young, which is QUITE different compared to if the neglect occurred when she was like… around the age of a 25 - 30 year old person I suppose.

Also the fact that Blossomfall shows systems and/or signs of being a “glass child” - feeling and/or being completely or mostly ignored, while their sibling gets all of the affection and love - which is something that can happen in real life, especially with children those parents put more effort and/or love into seeing and/or taking care of their disabled children than their able-bodied children.

Plus - at the very least, from what I heard about her - Blossomfall KNOWS and/or is AWARE that her jealousy towards her sisters is “negative” and/or “irrational” to the point that she literally believed she had deserved to go to literal kitty cat H*LL for it. Over a situation - neglect - that her own mother decided to do, which is something that’s NOT Blossomfall and any of her sibling’s fault.

And while yes, Millie does, care about her Briarlight, her disabled daughter and knows that she may need special care for her disability - that does NOT excuse Millie for NOT giving Blossomfall and Bumblestripe love and affection when she’s able so, let alone within a small tightened community where her children live with and/or around her daily will feel more impacted by her neglect that’s quite noticeable to the people Blossomfall lives around.

And the fact that Millie treatment of Briarlight and her disability is NOT good and is even ableist (at times), which is a WHOLE other (and worser) can of worms itself.

*sighs* Look, I’m not trying to bring back the (past) mindset of the fandom EXTREMELY hating Millie for neglecting Blossomfall.

I’m trying to state that Blossomfall maybe quite a bit over-hated for reacting to Millie neglecting her and her brother within a tightened small group/community, even regardless of how irrational her jealousy towards her sister is. To the point that I wanted to inform people about it within this confession.

So…yeah. Thank you for reading my confession about Blossomfall, and I hope that you at least thought it was a quite interesting confession to read about.

A little about my ADHD running practices

I have ADHD and autism, ADHD predominates (or so, I think at the moment). The symptoms of ADHD and how it manifests itself in life is a broad topic, but in this post I will focus on one thing: about a specific practice that helps me do things that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to do.

This practice is definitely not a solution for every matter and every person, but with something specific it works great for me.

So, you have the complexity of doing something, and this complexity is not monolithic. It consists of the difficulty of starting, the difficulty of continuing, and the difficulty of finishing.

Why do I divide it into these stages?

First

For different people, the complexity of these stages may vary: for some it is difficult to start, but it is much easier to continue, for some it is difficult to continue, but in principle it is not difficult to start, and so on.

Moreover, the complexity of the stages for different cases may be different.

An example:

It’s quite difficult for me to get myself into the shower or the bathroom or to swimming practice. But if I’m already there, if I’m already interacting with water, then I can be in this process for a very long time. So much so that it becomes difficult to complete.

Thus, if you evaluate the complexity of the stages on a three-point scale, then for me to start is 3 points, to continue is 0 points, and to complete is 1 or 2 points. External circumstances help me with the completion: the hot water in the boiler runs out sooner or later, and lying in a cooling bathtub is not so fun; during swimming training I get tired or training time ends. The external limiter here serves as a helping element.

With other things, the distribution of stage complexity may be different. And if I know how the complexity is distributed, which stages of a particular task are the most difficult for me, and which do not require the expenditure of willpower, then it is easier for me to plan tactics.

If I know that the continuation stage is not difficult for me, I can plan a larger amount of work for this stage. If I know that in this particular case the continuation stage is gaining high difficulty scores for me, then I will not plan too much work there in advance.

For example, with everything related to water, the most difficult thing for me is to begin with, then there are no problems, because I really like the interaction with water. Thus, the main task becomes to lure myself into the process, to create such conditions and expectations that I would like to start it. The realization that the process will continue on its own and you don’t need to spend any resources on it makes it easier to start.

Thus, dividing into stages allows you to approach the task more structurally, distribute resources more competently and - most importantly - see the upcoming task as something composite and completely doable, and not as a monolithic peak of Overcoming.

Second

Dividing into stages with an understanding of the complexity of a specific stage of a specific task specifically for yourself allows you to praise yourself for the stages completed, even if the task itself was not fully completed.

An example:

If you think of running training as a monolithic task that sounds like “run for an hour,” then if you do not run for an hour—for whatever reason—then you feel like a failure. And any running training that ends in less than an hour gives you a feeling of frustration, a feeling of “I failed”.

But you haven't really failed.

You started this training - this is usually the most difficult thing; you ran for some time - and this also needs to be counted towards your completed things. Actually, you're great. You have done certain things that are difficult for you. Praise yourself, you deserve it.

Dividing into stages helps you better notice what you have succeeded in. Division into stages helps to get away from the catastrophizing “if you didn’t complete some part, you failed in everything” and move on to the more sensible “you didn’t complete some specific stage but completed others.”

To be honest, I have certain difficulties with running. Unlike swimming, it's not something that brings me pleasure in the process, all the time. At least for now. I hope this will change but at the moment this is the situation.

For running training, it’s not enough for me to just start, and then everything will go by itself, like in swimming. For a running workout, the difficulty of continuing is higher for me than the difficulty of starting.

At the same time, I really want to run, I like this feeling of flying, dynamic movement in the surrounding space, when I manage to catch it (if I didn’t like the idea of running or didn’t consider it useful for myself, then I simply wouldn’t do it).

So, unlike swimming workouts, my running workouts look completely different. It was much more difficult for me to start them because I knew that the stage "continuing" would be even more difficult than the stage "starting." And thus it launching a self-propelling attractor: you know that further it will be more difficult for you than at the beginning, so it becomes more difficult to start.

When I began to count as a plus the completion of at least one specific stage - or partial completion - then everything became easier. I went to running training and ran 500 m, and I don’t have the strength to continue? Okay, you basically went out to train and ran this distance. Well done! How about we just walk for the rest of the time? You don't have to run, just walk at a brisk pace. Although look, if you take this turn at a decent speed, there will be a cool feeling of centrifugal force - shall we try it? Doing the task in this format really made a difference for me. This allowed me to concentrate more on what was done rather than on what was not done.

This, in turn, made it possible to create spirals of positive reinforcement that helped start the next workout a little easier (or it allows you to blame yourself less if you missed a workout or didn’t complete it to the extent you planned).

News from the Shopping District

There has been a lot of activity in the Shopping District as of late, with shops getting busier likely due to the time of year, so I’ve decided to make a little recap of the past few weeks!

Several newer citizens have been taking the time to tour around the shopping district to explore and meet potential friends, and many citizens are seeing familiar faces in nearby shops. There are people that may or may not be going on dates, and others learning that they have more freedom to be who they are and enjoy life more, and yet more who are just visiting their shopkeeper friends. 

Our own Roo has been venturing around, meeting new people and making friends, and we are all very proud because socialization is difficult.

Open Mic Night at Get Vexed Diner, run by citizen Atelo, is always an amazing option if you want to sing to your favorite song without getting judged. Citizen Stitches, a plushie shop, is temporarily closed so that co-owner Jax can have a day off. Nox, of Nox’s Flowers (and Sculk Clearing), could probably use some positivity in these trying times.

There are several shops open dedicated to clothing, a few bookshops with mysterious owners, places where art drives the entire shop, several bakeries, and the well known Overseer Headquarters, among others like the pirate ship off in the distance that sells various treasures and trinkets.

There are so many talented shopkeepers that if we were to name all of them, the list would be longer than the wait for someone to get home so you can see their response to your latest message.

Not everything is fun and games, however. A shop has had to close down in the past few weeks due to a shift in management and repairing damage done to various parts of it. The Pharmacy™, formerly run by citizen Ender, has been taken over by citizens Avid and Cordelia (a new addition to the server) because of an incident last week involving sculk catalysts, a frying pan, several unsuspecting bystanders, and a mooshroom island. The two have been giving their best efforts to de-sculkify the shop and fix it up so it can get up and running again, but it is a slow process.

Other places have been affected by sculk spread, with several shops, including The Pharmacy™ and Nox’s Flowers (and Sculk Clearing), being visited by a citizen by the name of Mos, who is having a midlife crisis at the ripe old age of seventeen, but that is about par for the course of the Hermitcitizen Lifestyle™. If anyone sees them, just be careful.

I also write bearing a suggestion from Raidne of Raidne’s: Tailoring and Outfits for All Occasions and a newcomer, a skeleton named Roman with a pretty cool cape and active hatred of the sun. Please consider, if you haven’t already, that there are a lot of people on the server who can’t be out during the day due to the lack of shade and being partially or fully mob. If you can, if you have a shop, it might be a nice idea to have covered walkways in the shopping district so that people who are hurt by the sun can still come around and say hello.

Scarland Volcano ready for action!

Following the recent opening of Scarland, work has begun on the park's next area, Adventureland! Alongside stunning gardens, and Ellie the Elephant, this area will feature the long awaited Volcano of Scarland! Made using almost 50 000 blocks, this attraction towers over even the main castle, and is surrounded by seemingly charred forests, and is buried deep in the jungle! Wander through Adventureland to see it for yourself, it’s impossible to miss!

With many rides, plenty more secrets to come and more areas being built up, we here at the Overseer can’t wait to see where Scarland will take us next!

I named myself 😎 The name Miles came from Miles Edgeworth LOL Me and an (ex)friend really liked Ace Attorney and the joke is that I was Miles and they were Franziska, and because at that point I was looking for a name it worked nicely!

Ok im so sorry for sending so many requests recently (same anon as the moon song for billy and muse and anything for finnick and sweet girl) BUT I was listening to Souvenir by Boygenius and my god it reminds me way too much of Finnick and Sweet girl.

Like with lyrics such as;

"See, I was in your dream last night. Always end up dying. You said, because of course I did." Which i personally interpret as being like the person whos being sung about has helped the narrator through difficult times. Like putting that into the terms of Finnick and Sweet girl just breaks me because my god it reminds me of like the codependency of those two that gets demonstrated in some cases and how they kind of helped each other through different circumstances.

"Always managed to move in. Right next to cemeteries. And never far from hospitals. I dont know what that tells you about me" is basically implying that the narrator focuses more on the morbid things which has been seen with Finnick and his sweet girl.

"When you cut a hole into my skull. Do you hate what you see? Like i do?" THIS oh my god this line just breaks me every time. But like it fully gives me the vibes of litterally either one of them not feeling as though they deserved to be with the other. And i have no clue if thag makes any form of sense but in my brain it fully does.

Anyways sorry if this litterally made 0 sense, i recently got accepted onto the next college course for my music and i had a few glasses of wine to celebrate and have been non stop listening to Boygenius. Hope your doing well!

sweet girl when she hates herself for what she did to conway, for leaving finnick in the arena, for being difficult, for causing more suffering, for feeling untrustworthy and if finnick can truly see her, he must see all that too and resent her for it. and finnick who feels like he's the cause of her every being in the games and hates that, hates that he ever broke her heart, put her in danger, hates that he feels dirty and that his ability to just be him has been stripped away, hates that he's vulnerable, hates that he ever thinks negatively of the people he cares about, hates that he can't do more and that sweet girl relies on someone like him so much when he hates himself.

Okay, you caught me feeling generous lol. You got a third card bc I pulled the first two and I was like "Oh no. You're gonna break this poor Internet Stranger's heart."

The Fool 0 reversed can signify a blockage. You might feel ready to move on or begin your next step, but energetically nothing is moving. The Nine of Swords is that overwhelming feeling we get when we're nearing the end of our rope. Sometimes our thoughts become an echo chamber for all our worst nightmares. But Six of Wheels makes me feel that aid is on the horizon. You may be envisioning yourself as the little girl, graciously accepting a gift from a higher power, or maybe you're in the position of the mother. Sometimes helping others takes us out of our headspace long enough that we are able to look back at our own lives with a new perspective. Are there still resources or lifelines you have yet to take advantage of? Apply for some programs if you are able to, visit a food bank (they're not just for homeless/abject poverty. in fact, its beneficial to these programs the more average people use them. it means there is a demand and they're less likely to get cut.)

It's also important to notice the gate. In the position of the mother, she is happily sharing with the little girl, however this is different than letting the child have free access to the orchard. Cut off access to parts of your life that are overly draining. This can look like boundaries in your friendships ("sorry, I can't get your coffee this week, but if I make it through this expect an extra special birthday gift") but also canceling subscriptions to things you might not use fully.

Overall I see it looks rough now but if you can wrestle through the despair, hope seems to be right around the corner if you are able to ask for it.

What if the overblot boys were somehow affected by the blot, and they can turn into those forms(while still being in control of themselves). It’s not harming them its just the lot literally now a part of them after well, you can’t just go into an overblot and reverting back without some uhhh repercussions.(imagine Riddle accidentally triggers it cause his lack of sleep and accidentally scares Ace and Deuce with it. Or Jamil accidentally got his snake hair from overblot form hissing at a bunch of people)

Ps, imagine the previous overblot just fighting current overblot in the main story(Riddle using overblot form to beat Leona’s overblot, and than Overblot Leona beats up Azul’s overblot, and than Azul’s beats Jamil’s, etc etc. I think the only exception to that case would be Idia’s overblot where literally it’s all the overblot boys at the time fighting Overblot Idia)

I had Blot change au and king of the blots au going on in this territory and debating the idea, for the sole purpose that it would be an epic af fight. :v

Well for starters, there have to be some criteria that is checking when this new form is triggered:

The overBlot boy is fully stuck in this form for a few days post being defeated at first, mostly so that it can settle in the new transformation

The transformation is triggered by extreme emotions or high levels of fatigue, where our Boi in question is either held at gunpoint or is so tired, his eyebags could rival prada's. :P

Once triggered, the transformation lasts until the Boi in question rests down properly.

During the transformation, the magic pen can turn at will into a complementary weapon

Also during the transformation, our Boi has more highened senses and much more stamina.

Now with those out of the way, on with the blots:

Our first victim is, of course, none other than Riddle. Imagine poor boy waking up, absolutely confused, only to be punched in the face by Ace, who didn't know at that time that Riddle was fully sane and aware again. Ya know... To make sure. :'3

Apparently he was still in the overBlot form, which yes, he is absolutely scared by his new appearance. Trey is quick to take him and try to calm him down because everything was literally so hectic and everyone was so confused that it did not help anyone that Riddle was crying his eyes out when everything daunted over him.

For a few days, Riddle had a medical pass to cover for his absence at lessons. Trey, Cater or even Adeuce did drop by his room to check on him. Riddle allowed them in, but it was pretty awkward.

Until Ace decides that enough is enough and decides to have the ✨talk✨ with Riddle. Basically telling him straight on his face how everything is absolutely ridiculous and naturally everyone is scared, but this also is up to Riddle's capacity to better himself. Like put sum effort in understanding the other one, not simply following some ridiculous rules to justify for being an ass. He is still salty for the whole tart refusal, so he still expects Riddle to make him a nice tart as compensation for the hell he was put through.

This seems to make Riddle smile, which was a new one lately, and slowly, he turns back to normal as he accepts to serve to Ace a nice big tart as a compensation.

They are buddies now. :3

After that, we have chapter 2, where we get Riddle fuming worse than a firework on the verge of bursting out. That, of course, when Ruggie steals his magic pen.

That's when we see the overBlot form come back, much to the surprise of everyone. But Riddle still was Sande, there was no Phanthom, no floating ominously and apparently Ruggie was slowed down when Riddle's pen turned into a rapier, which gave Riddle enough time to catch up and get Ruggie, much to the horror of the poor hyena Boi, who had 0 idea that this was how Riddle's overBlot looked like. :'D

Cue overBlot Leona occurring later down the line and an epic fight in between Overblots. Riddle should pick up fencing.

Now we have Leona too in the group. Suffer, I guess. :3

Leona's overBlot return comes in book 3, when Azul also overblots. His weapon of choice was a spear. :D

Now Azul, who was absolutely overwhelmed by the situation, he has spontaneous transformations. And being so embarrassed, he usually runs off to hide and calm down. More than a few times Azul fell on the floor due to the tentacles. :'3

His weapon at least, it's a trident. Which is a pretty cool looking. :3

When Jamil occurs and everyone is dokkaned, we also have Azul in his own overBlot form which is why he is also swimming on his own, or more like latching onto the twins to be dragged as well.

Unlike Azul, Jamil has very few moments when he actually involuntarily transforms. Kalim always has on hand sum snacks for the snake in Jamil's hair and the reptiles came to take a liking on Kalim much to Jamil's dismay. 'No, we are supposed to not like this guy'. His weapon is a staff.

Dealing with Vil was pretty easy when you had overBlot Jamil dokkaning Vil in a wall. :'3

Vil tho, has very little time to even comprehend the situation before book 6 comes crashing on everyone. But he likes his weapon: a pretty hand knife. Ya know to be discret. :3

Now for Idia... Hohoho... Idia is a whole other can of worms since you have 5 Overblots fighting him. :3

And also he stays a few days post that in STIX, mostly to rebuild Ortho, deal with the overBlot form and also deal with his parents nagging him. (imagine Mrs Shroud nagging an overBlot Idia and Ortho next to him, both with their head down and embarrassed)

Idia also follows Azul in the category of spontaneous transformations. And even worse for him, his weapon is a sword, which means he has to learn how to use it, which implies that Idia will have to do sum PE :'3

So, I was rereading No Grave Can Hold My Body Down (again 💕) and I became fascinated by the idea of Ch1 from Nesta’s pov. Her first few loops were pretty short she quickly starts planning, taking notes, and befriending gods. Nesta doesn’t know Lucien very well so I picture her scratching her head, staring at her flowcharts where Lucien’s name is circled with “???” written after it because he’s so much less predictable then everyone else. Why is Lucien, of all people, the only one who seems to change independent of her own actions? If she has to listen to Feyre whine about one of disappearing acts ONE MORE TIME she might hunt him down and strangle him herself. And then she’s moping next to him at the bar at Feyre’s Awful wedding and “she never really loves him either”

Also, WHEN exactly did Elain get a pet HELLHOUND?

PS I love that the loops after Hybern wins Lucien’s just like “fuck this shit. MURDER” and then “fuck this shit I WANT MY MOM”

oh that is so fun a thought!

A few things: while Nesta might present herself, by the time Lucien catches up several centuries in, as having an established pedagogy of time magic bullshit churning away, she fully spent the first few loops going completely insane.

The loops only end with death, or the timeline reset- they don't end when each other dies. So, for example, Loop 4- Lucien kills Tamlin, and he gets thrown into Loop 5. Nesta lives out six years of Loop 4 before straight up murdering Cassian, and getting reset on her way to do the same to Rhysand.

Experientially Lucien, in equal parts due to genuine wonder if ANY of this is real and the fact that being carrying along by a greater, shitty force is a very specific misery he can't seem to escape, lets the timeline happen to him, unless he really can't stand it.

Nesta goes in the Cauldron, or Nesta dies, and the Cauldron thinks this whole thing is the best amusement to exist in millennia.

So Nesta 1)knows everything happening is real, 2) keeps making even small butterfly wing changes that keep having bizarrely huge consequences, and 3) has already spent so long telling herself not to look at Lucien Vanserra he's functionally her own sexy blind spot.

Lucien being singular just seems SO MUCH LIKE LUCIEN to Nesta that it's infuriating but not incriminating.

She's not sure when she says it. She's interested- more now than centuries earlier- he's never fit but finding out why bowls her over. Convinces her that maybe, maybe, Nesta selfish, Nesta wanting really had started the loop in the first place, what she's been afraid of for years.

Lucien never thinks he started it, but he does start wishing it would never end.

As for Daisy, our beloved murder pup- SPOILERS FOR THE TIME LOOP BABES- that's the thing, isn't it? That's the real first unaltered timeline, with Nesta's suicide attempt and Lucien's slow moving collapse and Elain deciding to burn the world down rather than lose her sister. Loop 0.

Like the Cauldron, or Mezo, or other creatures, Daisy isn't quite touching time the same way. Elain is the Seer, and Eris has seer blood. He means to give her a gift to help make the impossible thing they want to do easier and succeeds in making a constant in the timeline. It's seamless. Lucien just expects it, Nesta's used to it- of course Elain and Eris keep being drawn together, of course Elain adopts a primordial Autumn creature, they're timeloops. the same sorts of things will always happen.

Your post on CRDL post about hate sink and the bully arc was spot on!

To also add on the problem with the arc: it made characters look bad on many levels.

I really didn’t like how Pyrrha announced that she “can’t stand people like him” and yet despite being the elite warrior…she did nothing to stop it.

Even as she fought team CRDL it wasn’t because of Racism or even velvet being bullied, she only did it because jaune was bullied.

It makes the arc look pointless and the characters uncaring.

You can’t expect me to hate team CRDL when everyone else is not any better.

I apologize in advance because I'm about to ramble again: short answer is exactly this I fully agree.

Long answer for anyone who wants to hear my mad ravings:

Pretty much exactly. There isn't even enough character for me to hate. They're blank slates the writers can add terrible qualities into and use as punching bags to prove how strong other characters are by comparison. But even then, since they're supposedly such wimps that we don't even get to see them properly fight any and all times they're taken out just feel unsatisfying and boring. "Oh Pyrrha took out the entire team that bullied Jaune who most of the fandom don't even remember the names of. That's so impressive. I think?"

I'm of the opinion Pyrrha should've been a lot more egotistical and judgemental (albeit quietly). Play into her being based on Achilles and how being constantly referred to as almost a living legend would change a person. Her ignoring Jaune being bullied because:

1. She also thinks he can become stronger from it

2. She's actually also a bit annoyed she got teamed up with a person who has 0 field training despite being the best first year (and potientially best student) in the school

3. She doesn't do things without people asking or social settings forcing her hand,

Would make for a far more interesting character development moment. And if she's not the one to step up to help Jaune then us digging into who on JNPR does and why also adds depth to other characters. Her being petty about Jaune being mean to her is a potientially nice character flaw but we never see it again. This plays into how clearly they wanted viewers to love pyrrha so that when she died it would hurt over actually wanting her to be a person.

All of team CRDL bullying Jaune instead of some of them simply ignoring what's happening and Cardin and Russel being the instigators makes them feel a lot more like a hivemind with no actual thoughts.

And in general them making Cardin racist for one scene and then dropping it entirely really did just feel like them trying to make sure the fans could hate him and know he's not redeemable. Despite them making Weiss racist like 2 episodes later, once again only to drop it in volume 2 with no explanation. Of course I'm someone who hates how they handle the faunus and finds it uninteresting so everytime they include faunus inequality I kind of just sigh and prepare myself for nonsense.

Okay, so… Lesson 40 spoilers ahead. I have many thoughts. Be warned, not all thoughts are positive.

Alright, so… We all know the general thoughts and feelings about the writing in nightbringer especially. I’ll touch on that later- but I will say, i sure as hell don’t think it was good in this most recent lesson.

First, I will say- I did greatly enjoy the individual moments with each of our boys. You’ll never guess who my favorite was- no, don’t look at the blog name- shit, yeah, it was Simeon. A close second was Barbatos, and following that, I loved Solomon in the whole lesson.

Simeon’s individual time was adorable. I loved the callback to the previous lesson. Giving him his own advice, and getting the option to cover his eyes for him as well? I think that was a nice touch. I also loved how we could see the seed of distrust planted in Simeon. We got to see him begin questioning his Father, which I think was actually very interesting. There Will be writing based on that coming from me at some point lol.

Next, Barbatos. I’ve seen other people talking about it, but… He knows. Barbatos SO knows. I loved how they hinted at him knowing that we aren’t from that time.

Lastly on the individual characters, Solomon! Normally, in OM, things that happened a while ago just straight up get forgotten, or brushed under the rug if they conflict with something new. I fully expected that to be the case with telling him his food is hot garbage. But it was very fun to see his endeavors in cooking once more, and actually succeeding with the help of Luke and Barbatos! I still feel bad about telling him the truth, but hey… someone had to. And we had a nice moment where his food was actually appreciated for it!

Now… That’s about all the positive things I have to say about this chapter. Please, click away if you don’t want to see criticism.

So… The goodbye felt lacking. The whole thing did, honestly- but the goodbye especially. You mean to tell me that we spent months building up to this epic moment where we are supposed to be going back home and… That?

1: the whole portal thing was absolutely pulled out of someone’s ass. Unless anyone remembers something I don’t- there was absolutely 0 mention of some hole in the sky that was meant to take us home. It makes no sense, either. We had the OPTION to wait until the founding ceremony, according to Solomon. That’s what made it special, in my opinion. The whole thing felt like laziness and rushed explanation. It feels as though they just didn’t want us to see Lucifer’s speech and wanted some excuse for the boys to “sacrifice” something for us, but really- there’s no reason.

2: You mean to tell me we really didn’t get to figure anything out about nightbringer? I want to be able to say that I trust the writers to give us more on nightbringer in the later lessons, but… We all know how much Solmare loves to just brush things under the rug. I wouldn’t be shocked if we got a half assed explanation, or even just ignored the whole nightbringer dudarino entirely.

3: Now, I can’t personally attest to it since I don’t give as many fucks about the hard lessons… But from what I hear, the hard lesson 40 was kinda bullshit. You’ll have to look for someone else’s explanation (or please, post your experience here!) but basically, from what I gathered, it also seemed very half assed.

4: This one is maybe more subjective, but… It bothers me a LOT that we never came clean. We made this big deal about having the brothers and everyone else trust us, but at the end of the day? We were no better. We hid a huge secret. And, don’t get me started with the whole “we can’t say anything because it will alter timelines” bullshit, because what the hell is the excuse with lesson 16 in OG? We died, then showed up again back then. That’s pretty groundbreaking shit.

ADDITIONALLY… Would that not give something for us to overcome? What is the point of storytelling if not to give the characters a problem? Say the timeline went fucky because we said something- I think that’s a way more entertaining tale than if everything went perfectly according to plan.

I’m really, really irritated that the MC had to be so hypocritical. How is it fair that we demand the trust from others if we won’t place our trust in them?

So… There are my thoughts. I don’t think my experience is universal- people are 100% free to disagree. But, with this being the season finale, I feel it was so… so lacking. Please, share your thoughts!

going into Chapter 10 part 1:

when we last left our hero, Scheherazade hadn't really done anything, but we saw a bunch of boys gushing about her. seems kinda ironic since one of those characters bothers to mention that girls gush when they like a guy and we hadn't actually seen that yet.

anyway, Chapter 10: The Hanged Man

-tbh I can't think of the Hanged Man without thinking of Drumbot Brian in High Noon Over Camelot, and I would probably enjoy this a lot better if the Mechanisms showed up and caused a bunch of violence.

-Zade, as usual, is thinking about Mac and Jackson, but this time she's at the same bar where the gang celebrated Drew's birthday! idk if I mentioned that Zade wasn't there because she doesn't actually make an effort to make friends.

-she once again says Mac and Jackson had been friends before, but again, we don't really see this. Jackson spent his part of the last chapter needling Mac about how he's going after Zade. that is literally the only time we've seen those two interact and it was antagonistic.

-here we are, 11 chapters into the book (remembering to count Chapter 0) and we FINALLY get something resembling world building, and it's cribbed from Queen Terf's magical British school system books because Zade tells us it's frowned upon for those with magic (no I am not gonna spell it with the k) to get with mortals.

-this is also the first time Zade mentions ANYTHING about her father, and that's saying he's a mortal. this is insulting with all the other shit she's keeping under wraps about her dad.

-Zade's like, "I wasn't marrying anyone," as if we haven't been hit over the head every single time someone brings up dating that a long-term commitment is expected. girl, forever is not guaranteed. what happened to just dating people? for fun?

-quotations are placed weird in this bit:

I'm so mad that this is going unexamined. you KNOW you're gonna have to make a choice at SOME point right? if you're insisting that the love triangle is the most significant thing going on in this book, that means you're gonna have to figure out WHY you don't want to make a decision. is it the destiny bullshit? do you have any agency at all??????

first off, you IGNORED a trump card in your spread because you ~didn't know why it was there~ meaning you're skipping over any insight you might have gotten from it. (though if we're going with my interpretation, you overlooked it because seeing it would have meant admitting to yourself that you're the problem.) you also overlooked part of the nature of the Lovers in your spread, a fairly important part since its imagery was mirrored in another card in that same spread.

second, what the fuck do you mean by this "freewill clause" bullshit???? I know you're some kind of fatalist, but if that's the case why are you even entertaining the idea of free will? and if you're not a fatalist, then you know that means the cards are telling you that YOU'RE the one who has to make the choice on this one, right?????

I get. so very mad when tarot cards are viewed this way. they help you make decisions through interrogation, meditation, and self-examination, not because they're a 78-sided die in a Magic 8 Ball!
