Hello hi! There were too many good asks, but 24, 25, and 29 please and thank you.
24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you? probably something like my writing was too silly and would never be worth publishing. i did a lot of writing classes in college and like. im doin it for fun my guys and if it's not fun why bother 25. What fic do you wish you got more of a response on? i would always love more people to share in the joy with me but if you (general, not you noodyl) would like a rec, maybe check out time enough at last or funny business, which are two more recent ones. i think shits been scarce and people haven't had time to read much plus like. the fandom is growing old, i get it. i want people to have fun like i did though!!!!! read all my stuff and roll around in it and then tell me what was the best bits actually i need it for my health
29. What’s your revision or editing process like? i did already answer this one but truly i do a lot of the revision in my head + the like, copy editing fixes literally when i post the chapters but! i will say that is one of many reasons i wait to post until i have written the whole thing, bc if i need to fix something big or small, i have that buffer!

12, 18, and 23 for the fic writer asks :O? -ise
12. how does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you? well in the immediate let's say 24-72 hours after sharing it truly kicks my ass to wait for someone to acknowledge my existence and hard work and joy. and slowly i get back into regular town and remember people have, you know, things going on, and can't inhale the words i've been living in the second it drops. but it means a LOT to have support, and to be told how much people love my work and think about it and care? that's so powerful? aaaaaa 18.Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles? mmmmost of my titles are jokes. i work hard on them but also sometimes the stupid placeholder title was the real title all along despite about 68 other attempts. like revenge plus one. other times they have a secret, second, less good title you may never know. chapters are the same but worse and i used to have clever schemes about it and recently ive leaned into the chaos. the chapter im working on is called smash or pass and other notable chapters in the wip are "regroup your soup" and "define kidnapping. use it in a sentence" 23. Best writing advice for other writers? - focus on the bits you love - live in it - crop rotation. if it feels like it's draining your soul go do somethin else for a bit - despite what your brain wants to say, it is in fact absolutely necessary vitamins to do, read, enjoy, listen to, watch, and chew other pieces of media (and revisit the source material) as you go. bc you can't make something from nothing and you need both ingredience and fire power - forget perfect. block that bitch number. go have a good time playing and tell your trusted buddy about how much fun you had. also like. don't hold others to perfect either? there are diamonds in the rough out there and they're people also and they love the thing you love - have a trusted buddy or go get one. seriously. - it's okay if some things are for pretend and for laughs and for playing in your brain before bedtime. it's okay if some things are for You and no one else. you do not have to publish every single thing. if wips and wips and wips are swords of damocles over your head then maybe give away some swords or store your swords in a less threatening manner - it's about love. if it stops being about love go back - if you get stuck go back a few paces, or break the next thing down into smaller bits - you can, in fact, gloss over the parts you hate to write - readers feel when you love it. but you feel it especially. - keep goin

4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas? to be too honest with you it is often a matter more of curating what inspires me, because it is in fact too easy to get a larger than life idea and wanna run with it before realizing it would take fucking 80 thousand words to come to life. sometimes you simply must chatter about it w/ your beloved(s) and then. this is the hard part. release it to the wind.
but! i love truly Too Real scenarios and ridiculous but not fully unbelievable bullshit and i especially love makin' an au out of absolutely a piece of gum and two rubber bands (or a radioactive ingot, fantasy in the complete other direction, a juicy setting, and a button)
like, that's my favorite. aus esp. i have to keep a fucking leash on my what-if-inator because the second i let it start running i will be whisked off my feet and i simply have only so many hours in the day. and they must be shared between hobbies and things like taking vitamins and building shelves and doing laundry and crafting beasties and changing the world and keeping it good and remembering to take my meds
7. How do you choose which POV to write from? almost entirely on vibes. in some fics i've done back and forth equally, or, more likely, from the pov of the one im chewing at the moment, defaulting to krav, but with my taste for dialogue and especially like, mental processing self-dialogue? ykwim? it's all about the vibe that started it all, or like, what serves the beast at the moment. this super au, i've really let the characters drive, and i actually charted it out, mostly from curiosity, i've been letting it roll as it needed, where it felt good
Tumblr media
37. How do you choose where to end a chapter? it's kind of on comic rules? it has to be punchy, if not a punchline. it has to Feel Right and conclude the scene, enough of a button to satisfy without going over? practice mostly? it's nice though when it gives a bit of a vector for the next one to shoot off from. rubber band to launch us over the time hump 56. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on? i usually say dialogue and characterization so hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (not outlining) but. hm. having fun with it? or like, thie and i have been discussing again lately, like, balance? the ability to pair the goof shit and the gut-hurtin' feelings without seeming incongruous? you need both, is the secret, and both can do both, and even more complex, something you thought was one can become the other when you read further/reread. and that rules, and is SOOOO consistent with TAZ (esp but not limited to of course, balance) and i love it. oh and granular details that make things feel real and alive and connected. love that shit. there's layers don't you want to hear about the layers i thought about it at length and- 73. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?
namely the above but if i had to say it in one, Voice? like. you could probably pick my shit out of a lineup, lbr. it's alive, it's juicy, it's sort of weird, the phrasing is both comedic and bonkers as well as emotionally present, it's alive, they feel like people, maybe even you, and love is real even besides the romantic, like. they're going to be friends. not just make out. both matter. it adds up. it feels lived in and floating but tethered. and alive. maybe you left it out too long, themes crawled up in there and now it's teeming and the letters and punctuation have a stoplight and a mayor, and you really ought to wash your water bottle, bbut heck it's so familiar-
i've been doing this for a while now, and i do it for fun. i believe in fun, i swear by it, and i make time for it, and i share it. Not only does it matter, it makes the meaning and the growing stick. i think you can feel it.
anyway, i sure hope so!

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go? ........................listen. listen.
Tumblr media
sssorta? grimaces loudly. it depends on the fic. some have a semi-decent outline. the one i am currently rotating (supers au) has an outline that is. maybe not USELESS but almost entirely unhelpful with regards to, uh, organization, or, foresight, or, connecting point l to m to n to o...... i sort of threw some shit at the wall, then came back and threw entirely different shit at the wall, played pretend with other shit entirely, got distracted, took a long break to return to a different other fic with a WORSE outline (youtube au, which, to make matters worse, is the FIFTH iteration of this idea and was started in 2 0 2 0. i need you to understand i have a degree in teaching with a [minor] in english and i was a writing tutor for years and i am fully capable of a good and proper outline and yet every goddamn time i open a new document it is a CRAP SHOOT to see if i USE THESE CAREFULLY PRACTICED SKILLS to help LITERALLY ONLY MYSELF-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sometimes this outline is so counterproductive i get mad and Don't write bc past me was so unhelpful.
BUT on the flippy dip: i really enjoy kind of. discovering the fic As I Write It. Like, it is as much of a discovery to me how the events pan out as anyone else. and it's so fun, it's a game of pretend with myself. im digging for gold and shit there sure is a lot of dirt and maybe i could have brought or different more tools but i found a garnet and a sapphire and a fossil of a fishie. and also my keys, which i do not remember dropping, and there's something big here, i swear, but i gotta keep going to find out if it's a dinosaur or what this also means i write almost entirely chronologically, because i don't actually know the finer details of things until they come out, and that makes it hard to rearrange bits done out of time?
breaking news: fool gets away with behavior yet again, no change expected. more at ten good thing it's a hobby. don't even get me started on how i name documents. good lord
8. Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story? truly my favorite part of a fic is livin in it, i love discussing it to pieces with my Friends and daydreaming and playing in the sand and thinking up side bits that may not ever come into play but sure do make the world feel lived in and that rules, that's the best. there is so much, of every fic i have ever written, that i was orbiting around my head, and you may never know, but you feel it in the pulse of the thing 27. What is your most and least favorite part of writing? aaaaauhhhhhhhhhh uh. i love locking into the flow and the wild nonsense and deeep feelings just happening out of my fingers. i love yapping about my ideas and i love when people give me reactions to the words i did and the order i did them in, especially line by line live reactions? there's esp this phenomenon i see where the reader will be picking lines here and there and then Get So Absorbed that they end up at the finish line all disoriented and delighted and have to tell me and I love it. hard parts: starting, especially after a long time. giving myself grace to see if something is shit garbage or im just moody/hungry/need to sleep on it. the moment-hours after posting and fuckin' waiting for the acknowledgement of my efforts, we all know. man. but maybe the worst bit is when you ARE in the flow and do have so many ideas and it's great and THEN you look at the time and it's fucking after your bedtime and you, an adult, employed, must extricate yourself from the ecstasy of fiction and do chores like dental care, and getting in bed and not doing math about your alarms. 29. What’s your revision or editing process like? man i used to have a beta yeeeears ago, but between like. ships passing in the night and all. + the realization that this is a fan thing i am doing for funsies. and like. the passability that comes with crazy amounts of experience and practice. the knowledge that i am not going to be Published and if i reread and see a typo, i can pretend i didn't, or edit it anyway. the forgiveness of mainly doing it for myself.... it doesn't get a lot of strenuous review. probably the most editing happens, once im happy with the order of events, and so on, when i am pasting my goddamn document into ao3, and because i use google docs and want my stupid rich text, i go line by line and reread to keep myself entertained while deleting extra paragraph breaks. which i believe there is a fix for but ironically that is in fact a good way to catch bullshit in the eleventh hour. i do have a few readers, give or take my most devoted minions, who will catch like, major sense making issues, but also do not actually give a shit if i fumbled a word or spelled stupid + are mostly along for the ride playing pretend with me
hopefully this wasn't too honest and you are instead bolstered by the fact that i am just. playing here cause it's fun, it's all made up and the points don't matter. let's go have fun
