[TW: sh mentions, violence] [spoilers for legendborn and bloodmarked, read at your own caution ;)]
so i've been rereading and trying to cover up all the legendborn content that happened while i pufff disappeared, and pardon me it is taking more time than i imagined, however i just wanted to start off with one pet peeve of mine
*rant incoming*
this might just be my unorganised thoughts or maybe just common sense, but sometimes you dont fully understand why a character did something; you have to sometimes to come back and read it again once you have that epiphany. it doesn't matter whatever tf they are doing, it sometimes just doesnt make that effect, especially on first read.
when i first read bree lashing out on greer and sar when they touched her hair, i didnt quite understand it. i thought its a cultural thing and moved on. now something about me, im a little fair, by indian standards. not completely clear skin and shit but im on the lighter side. so if im in my village, if im anywhere else wearing something with a bit of skin showing, i automatically get the comments "you're so fair" "what's your skincare" "so lucky" "you'd marry so soon" all that typa shit. and then come the unwanted touches, touching me on any exposed skin. and by any i genuinely mean any exposed skin. that's when i kind of realised why bree was so irritated when they tocuhed her hair, because people sometimes see our nicer features as free estate. and its annoying. and that is when her reaction fully made sense.
when i first read selwyn mesmered bree, i was so angry. i did not want bree to forgive him without him grovelling, ofc, but i also could not understand why he did that. what was his motive?? and why hide it from bree only?? nobody else?? now i've been in my low times since like years, not a big deal. got a lot of scars, some too visible, some not. i dont bother hiding it if im out in public where there's nobody who knows me or nobody who would care enough to ask. but if im with my friends, close people, i hide them all. and its just like valec said, its not to hide something its because of the fear of judgement. and that's when it kind of made sense why selwyn would hide his descent specifically from bree. she has bad experiences with mesmer, no doubt, but even worse with demons. it was a bad call through and through but one that is not unfamiliar. i dont hide my scars for my safety, i hide them because im ashamed.
and when nick killed max and then promptly disappeared into the woods, that was also somehow so out of character in my eyes from him. during grief and in the moments of crushing hopelessness, doesn't everyone want someone?? isnt the obvious reaction supposed to be him coming to bree, and not running away from her?? but that's not what happens yk. i once had a classmate who was not generally the type of person you'd want to be around. he was the type of person who has "trouble" spelt on him in flashing neon red. but after all, we were young, wanted to keep the peace, so i kept the decent communication. he would constantly invade my personal space, unwanted touches, unsolicited comments, it gets annoying. the last straw was when he tried to touch my best friend's schoolbag. i, in a moment of pure rage, threw him against the wall and actually started choking him. when the class managed to get me off of him, he was unconscious. in that moment my bestfriend came to put a hand on my shoulder, i visibly flinched and ran away from there and stayed in the washroom until school was over. this isnt as bad as beheading someone, but the response is familiar. of course he is going to go away rather than come closer; people whose love language is physical touch often have their hate language as isolation. i didnt hurt him purely because he tried to take my bestie's bag, i hurt him because i wanted to. nick didnt kill max purely because he killed his father, he killed him because he wanted to.
there's more of the events where we just kind of make this internal bias that we know what the character is going through and that we would definitely make better decisions, but can you?? do you really think you can or you're just overestimating yourself or underestimating the actual thing going on with the character??
i have made this mistake too, i know. i have taken some time to reflect back though and now i can say that yes i have made harsh judgements too. i am changing that tho because i've got a lottt of time to sit down and think and yeah i guess we all need it time to time.
what im trying to say is, things are not black and white. its a spectrum, there's dark grey light grey. it's a lot. and until and unless you are capable of putting yourself in that type of situation or closer, it's better to not make concrete opinions. shit happens and people do things, real life people are just that, people.
anyways this was a long rant i probably lost my point halfway through but okay whateva

So... people hating on Justice League × RWBY, the two cross-over movies for DC and RWBY, has to be blown out of proportions or a joke... right? Cuz these movies are great. At least, in my opinion. They're fun and a bit stupid and incredibly entertaining for me, who's a fan of both DC (my current biggest fixation) and RWBY (my friend likes it so I must like it too) (Link to the movies at the bottom btw!)
Sure, I'll relent they're a little boring at times, and they completely butcher both DC and RWBY characters sometimes, but like... I finished watching a review by The Judgemental Critter (who I love btw and I think their opinions are pretty agreeable most of the time! No hate to them at all!) but a lot of the points just... don't make sense to me?
More Yappage Below
The animation and models being bad was said a lot, and while I can agree in some places like Weiss' weird skirt, saying the hands and faces look weird just... does feel right? They look fine to me? I'm a 3D artist, I make thumbnails and promotional art for youtubers as a job and animate as a hobby, and the models look more than okay. The proportions are a bit wonky, but RWBYs animation has always been wonky. Calling the lowered framerate lazy and ugly also bugged me, cuz like... lowering the framerate to showcase sudden motions or lame actions is REALLY common. It isn't lazy, it's saving resources for moments you care about... like the fights. RWBY and DC both love their big flashy fights. Why would they waste time animating Blake picking a lock? RWBY itself is 90% fightscenes, so on top of that, why are you against big drawn-out fights?
I do agree that some of the designs suck specifically the heroes... I really really hate Bruce's Remnant costume being all black and gray. It's a personal pet peeve of mine when Batman isn't allowed color because I feel like it's antithetical to his entire character if he's all dark. Bruce needs to have some color, some light, or else he risks slipping right into the darkness that is Gotham. The same reason Robin is so brightly colored. It represents his hope for the city. So seeing all black/grey Batman with no color AND no cowl shape language bugged me. Anyways, here's my redesign, lol. Includes real bat ears, a half mask, and blue and yellow splashes! Nothing major!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way they didn't really include Cyborg, Vixen, or Flash in the story for 70% of it bugged me too, but trying to say the Teen Titans would be better irked me slightly Sure, they might relate better as teens, but a major part of the story's conflict is Ruby being young and struggling to control her team because it's easy for people to overlook her or ignore what she has to say while Clark feels all that confidance from normally being an adult dude running an adult team. The JL being adults turned into teens puts them into a unique position where, unlike with the Teen Titans or Young Justice back home, they they have no real power or leverage over RWBY or JNPR. This is a conflict for both sets of people, and simply wanting "better character moments" feels like a cheap way to just nitpick. Especially when you also claim you dislike how much standing around and exposition there is. If Raven of all people showed up to brood, she would have to explain why she's so broody, which is just more loredumps you stated you didn't like. The movies over explaining of Semblance and Dust would have been way worse they were also forced to explain every DC heros past. This movie is very clearly targeting DC fans who have some knowledge on RWBY but are not super into the series. Note how the movies never once explain Batman, Superman, Vixen, Flash, or Cyborgs powers, and the time they spent vaugly talking about Wonder Womans it's turned into a trauma dump between Blake and Diana? They expect you to already know their stories. They way Clark and Bruce talk about their parents but not his planet is simplified down for RWBY fans because DC fans are expected to know this stuff.
On that note... Bruce was never debating leaving Gotham behind. It's pretty obvious in the movies. When Weiss offers for him to stay, he never responded. When Diana brought it up to him, his top priority is helping more, but he doesn't specify if he means Remnant or Gotham. As dumb as someone might think "they've been turned into teens" is as a point, it's very much an important plot point for Bruce. When he was a teen, he was the only man of the Wayne household, training to be Batman, still dealing with his grief over his parents. He truly never got to be a real teen. This is also the first time he's had real actual powers (at least in this very messy canon), and it's important to him, and it's clouding some of his judgment as a teen. But him liking having powers is not him willing to ditch Gotham. As soon as he was back on Earth, he was in Gotham, helping. There was never a debate. It was him dealing with the fact that he felt inferior. Literally, it's hormones and anxiety about not doing enough as Batman without powers. Is it a little goofy that Batman is insecure? Yes. Is it him abandoning his code? No.
Tho I do hate how he pretends his father literally didn't become batman in an alternate reality. Like Come on Bruce, Thomas was willing to throw down the same way you are, you did not "let go of their expectations".
More Bruce rant, his Semblance is very clearly not heat vision. It's Detective Vision (as named by the wiki). In the first showcase of his Semblance, he's not seeing the heat off Weiss or the electrical wire. It's noting the most important features of the room and how to escape. This is showcased more in the fight with Kilg%re!Barry, where his Semblance specifically notes the Morse Code and translated it. It's just super investigation powers. Which is lame... but it's not heat vision. I felt like I had to correct that.
I'd like to end this rant here even tho I said a lot more in dms to my friend... I feel bad just... 'responding' to someone who will never see it or care about my opinions. I really do like Judgmentals judgments (lol) 90% of the time, but I also feel really passionately about these particular movies, seeing as it combine me and my friends' two favorite things. It feels very close to home in a way, I guess. I hope people go and watch the movies and enjoy them!
I've linked both parts here to Internet Archive! The rips are a little weird in quality (very dark for some reason?) But they are the full movies!

I KNEW when I started this process that alum would be a heavily overlooked commodity throughout history but this paper is going into the taxation by the Roman empire, particularly their fortresses along the trade route in order to secure it as an international commodity and GOD that is so cool. Aluminum is just like nitrates but for clothing, art, and processing rather than war!! Then we were able to synthesize the process and it's become forgotten and obsolete.

Unpopular? Problematic? Opinion
I'm kinda new in Arda so maybe it's just me? It's something I haven't found out yet in the fandom? I'm honestly not sure because I'm the only one having a problem (not really a problem, just a pet peeve, I think?) with it, but...
(forgive my English, it's past midnight here and I'm eepy)
what is it that the fandom has with genderbending(or revealing they were the opposite gender all along) specific characters? and I mean Bilbo Baggins and dwarves specifically. I haven't seen a genderbent elf or human yet, but again I may be wrong.
It feels really weird because I've mostly (almost always) seen it happen when one of those characters was to be shipped with someone(of the same gender). And also I've actually only seen it with Bilbo, Ori, and Narvi (but, once more, I'm new so this might be inaccurate). I genuinely don't understand why? It doesn't bring anything to the plot except perhaps implying that dwarves can't tell dwarrow and dwarrowdams apart which actually only applies to literally all the other races. It feels so wrong to cancel mlm relationships by changing a character's canon gender.
I also don't like using non-canon pronouns(/gender) for characters in general because it feels like I'm misgendering them but that's a personal opinion.
But perhaps I'm just imagining things. So I'm genuinely asking if I've missed something or if it's just me not really understanding fanfictions/fandoms. Especially since I've only seen this happen with those specific characters, maybe someone can tell me whether it's true or not.
Idk if this makes sense, hopefully I wasn't disrespectful and didn't offend anyone.
Pls be nice I'm just a confused newcomer

The lil guy memes and jokes abt drizzt are funny and I make them too but like. When ppl say that it's canon it bothers me. Like he's not half as edgy as the stereotype say he is but he's a grown ass man. You could make the argument abt him being young in the first few books but after Neverwinter he's a man by elven standards too

examining a seemingly normal image only to slowly realize the clear signs of AI generated art.... i know what you are... you cannot hide your true nature from me... go back where you came from... out of my sight with haste, wretched and vile husk
#BEGONE!!! *wizard beam blast leaving a black smoking crater in the middle of the tumblr dashboard*#I think another downside to everyone doing everything on phone apps on shitty tiny screens nowadays is the inability to really see details#of an image and thus its easier to share BLATANTLY fake things like.. even 'good' ai art has pretty obvious tells at this point#but especially MOST of it is not even 'good' and will have details that are clearly off or lines that dont make sense/uneven (like the imag#of a house interior and in the corner there's a cabinet and it has handles as if it has doors that open but there#are no actual doors visible. or both handles are slightly different shapes. So much stuff that looks 'normal' at first glance#but then you can clearly tell it's just added details with no intention or thought behind it. a pattern that starts and then just abruptly#doesn't go anywhere. etc. etc. )#the same thing with how YEARS ago when I followed more fashion type blogs on tumblr and 'colored hair' was a cool ''''New Thing''' instead#of being the norm now basically. and people would share photos of like ombre hair designs and stuff that were CLEARLY photoshop like#you could LITERally see the coloring outside of the lines. blurs of color that extend past the hair line to the rest of the image#or etc. But people would just share them regardless and comment like 'omg i wish I could do this to my hair!' or 'hair goallzzzz!! i#wonder what salon they went to !!' which would make me want to scream and correct them everytime ( i did not lol)#hhhhhhggh... literally view the image on anything close to a full sized screen and You Will SEe#I don't know why it's such a pet peeve of mine. I think just as always I'm obsessed with the reality and truth of things. most of the thing#that annoy me most about people are situations in which people are misinterpreting/misunderstanding how something works or having a misconc#eption about somehting thats easily provable as false or etc. etc. Even if it's harmless for some random woman on facebook to believe that#this AI generated image of a cat shaped coffee machine is actually a real product she could buy somewhere ... I still urgently#wish I could be like 'IT IS ALL AN ILLUSION. YOU SEE???? ITS NOT REALL!!!!! AAAAA' hjhjnj#Like those AI shoes that went around for a while with 1000000s of comments like 'omg LOVE these where can i get them!?' and it's like YOU#CANT!!! YOU CANT GET THEM!!! THEY DONT EXIST!!! THE EYELETS DONT EVEN LINE UP THE SHOES DONT EVEN#MATCH THE PATTERNS ARE GIBBERISH!! HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THEY ARE NOT REAL!??!!' *sobbing in the rain like in some drama movie*#Sorry I'm a pedantic hater who loves truth and accuracy of interpretation and collecting information lol#I think moreso the lacking of context? Like for example I find the enneagram interesting but I nearly ALWAYS preface any talking about it#with ''and I know this is not scientifically accurate it's just an interesting system humans invented to classify ourselve and our traits#and I find it sociologically fascinating the same way I find religion fascinating'. If someone presented personality typing information wit#out that sort of context or was purporting that enneagram types are like 100% solid scientific truth and people should be classified by the#unquestionaingly in daily life or something then.. yeah fuck that. If these images had like disclaimers BIG in the image description somewh#re like 'this is not a real thing it's just an AI generated image I made up' then fine. I still largely disagree with the ethics behind AI#art but at least it's informed. It's the fact that people just post images w/o context or beleive a falsehood about it.. then its aAAAAAA

WAIT WAIT WAIT people are of the opinion that jamie isn't in any type of love with her in s2 and/or s3? oh no that's not.... 😰
even if he didn't/doesn't know what type of love & even if he really actually didn't mean to say it, i deffo think he meant it in s2 exactly like you said like she's someone extremely important to him who he wants around in some capacity (& he still feels that way in s3) . and that's what matters most 🫶
i feel dizzy i can't believe ppl think he didn't mean it either time or he doesn't understand. this is terrible news oh my god
Unfortunately yeah. There was a lot more of it going around at the time of the funeral episode and again (and much moreso) at the time of the finale. Personally I think it’s harder to headcanon Jamie’s feelings as solely platonic in the bar scene unless you come at it from “he was just saying all that to piss off Roy” angle, and people were Very Upset that Jamie might Dare to still be into her. Tbh I think a lot of it was/is the product of (imo misguided) anger from people who either 1) were very pissed Roy and Keeley weren’t endgame or 2) held very strong opinions about the Roy and Jamie bar scene being the worst thing to happen in the history of television or whatever. (Which, to be clear I can 100% understand disliking either writing choice for various reasons. It’s just that that anger somehow extended to people being FURIOUS that jamie would confirm he’s still got feelings for Keeley because he’s “never cared about her like that and they barely interact and Keeley OBVIOUSLY doesn’t give a shit about Jamie and hasn’t paid him attention since s1, so Jamie just doesn’t know what he’s saying. he’s clearly confused and emotionally immature” etc. which like, look. idkBut TO ME…If you’re gonna be angry about that scene…Boy is that the wrong part to be angry about, lol.
Anyway I wasn’t going to post the twitter thread I saw today that dredged this all up again because it’s so not a big deal and these tweeters are entitled to think whatever they want. but also it’s like 3 a.m and I can’t sleep and I’m feeling in a very idgaf mood so whatever here it is:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t even know where to start but it got under my skin for many reasons least of all that Jamie is one of the MOST emotionally mature ones like wdym 😭 just ticked all my boxes for little irritants. you know how it is.

Someone on Reddit said “after reading SJM's other series, Amarantha is such a confusing villain to me. She was smart enough to trick all of the high lords but not smart enough to ultimately win against a 19 y/o illiterate, physically weak human girl. Rhys got away with a lot (helping Feyre, the Clare thing, etc) and I just don't understand how she never caught on lol” and another person replied “I'm starting to wonder if her feeling undefeated all those years made her let her guard down and get sloppy. That would make some sense.”
This makes me think of when people say that the Valkyries winning the blood rite is unrealistic. A lot of things in Sarah’s books are unrealistic, but no one bats an eye until it comes to the Valkyries. This isn’t hate it shade to the person on Reddit. This wasn’t even talking about the Valkyries, but it did make me think of the girls.
honestly i feel like people think too much when reading or watching or playing something like... it's fiction. you're supposed to suspend your belief. sure some things might not make much sense if you really pick at it but i don't understand the logic in doing so lol i don't go to faerie smut books for realism
that's not to say sjm doesn't have her flaws and plot holes, she certainly does, but i feel like people suck all of the joy they have out of something by over analyzing it sometimes. also the things people nitpick are often things that make sense within their world, not ours
having said all that, the valkyries winning was not unrealistic. it's not as if they were kidnapped and thrown in there a week after they started training, it was months later and they had been training with two of the best illryian warriors to ever live. if you think cass and az weren't drilling the absolute best techniques into them on the daily then i'm sorry, but you're just trying to find ways to bitch about these characters

“More people working from home benefits people who work in person too actually bc there’s less traffic” no yall just drive to other people’s jobs instead of your own. There’s less traffic at 9am and 5pm on weekdays sure but. Why are roads and shops and restaurants busier on weekends if office workers are supposedly staying home when they’re not working.
Not even saying people shouldn’t work from home, bc any job that can be done from home should absolutely have that option. It just feels condescending to me to tell people who Don’t have that option that actually it’s better for them too if more people have time to go make their jobs harder. I would rather you just say it’s better if More People have easier jobs, than pretend it makes everyone’s jobs easier

There has never been a doubt in my mind that OoT Ganondorf cared about his people. Yes I've seen the arguments for otherwise, but I've also been able to deduce solid reasons against those arguments without issue. So. I'm pretty sure at this point it's not something I will ever have a change of heart over.

Every once in a while, I'd remember @spiritpyro's Hayate mentioning in his internal monologue that he likes everything about Vivian, including even her personality and her speech patterns, which to this day, makes me emotional, because as a character, Vivian has gone through a lot... from characters getting pissed off at her for saying the wrong thing (thereby ending a thread prematurely) to characters outright not getting her humour and claiming she's unkind, even though it hadn't been her intention to offend them.
Granted, I don't really treat those as canon occurrences, because I'm not really a single verse blog, so any interactions from partners who have broken mutuals with me/deactivated/didn't follow me on my remade blog are null and void (meaning as far as Vivian is concerned, they have never occurred and will no longer be referenced in any threads/headcanon posts except for this one), but at the same time, I will lay in bed at night sometimes... and have this startling revelation that the way Vivian had been treated remarkably mirrors the experiences of most autistic people I've read about/heard from. Honestly, it's astounding to me how many on Reddit would describe similar struggles/feelings she also has, to the point where even though the RPC has a general distaste for slice-of-life muses, I still take comfort in the fact she is at least relatable.
Like, yeah, I might not be the most descriptive/poetic writer on this godforsaken site, but in my opinion, my characterization is where my writing truly shines best... and so, Hayate catching feelings for Vivian (despite me portraying both her flawed and endearing sides as a young, neurodivergent woman in her early twenties) is such a memorable thing to me, that I would find myself occasionally thinking about it even while I'm at work. I mean, granted, Vivian is nowhere near as dysfunctional as the main female lead from Asper Kanojo (That's My Atypical Girl), but it cannot be denied she is still very hard to love... to the point where Hayate pretty much fell out of love with her in an alternate universe.
Either way, it honestly hurt me on a deep, visceral level when Hayate was like, 'Fucking think before you speak', when they fought that one time, because autistic people will commonly be told that at some point in their lives... furthermore, Vivian had to hear that from someone she loves, so I can only imagine how betrayed she must have felt, especially since she already tries super hard when it comes to explaining things from her point of view and can only process her thoughts when speaking them due in part to her disability.
At the same time, though, it also makes me think that in the event Vivian and Hayate would romantically be together, this would realistically be a reoccurring issue within their relationship, where every time they would argue, she'd utter out stuff that would potentially annoy him, because according to Hayate, Vivian probably doesn't put a lot of thought into her words... so there would be instances where she would view him as an absolute alien. Still, knowing Vivian, I could also see the aftermath of their fights being one of those rare, few moments where she would wish she was more normal; after all, if she happened to be less difficult, Hayate might actually become less frustrated with her.
Since this is Hayate we're talking about, however, I could also see him potentially researching autism a bit more and slowly reaching a point where he would better understand Vivian, but either way, their relationship is one I always have fun, psycho-analyzing, because it's between an unpredictable, misanthrophic man and a manic, neurodivergent woman.
